Prayers - Opening

Now that the four primarchs have ceded their roles to nature, supreme primarch Sandalphon considers how to correct elemental fluctuations on Patmos Island. Alexiel and Europa, primal beasts who are capable of manipulating the tetra-elements and disciples of Uriel and Gabriel respectively, are tasked with resolving the problem. Elsewhere in the skies, Shiva and Grimnir each sense the fluctuations and head to Patmos as well.

Within a certain temple in the Sky Realm, an assembly of primal beasts with glistening wings has gathered.
Known as the four primarchs, they once oversaw the tetra-elements—components that form the basis of the sky's natural order.
Together with Sandalphon, the supreme primarch, they are holding a discussion in hopes of finding a resolution to a potentially grave issue.
Sandalphon: ...
Uriel: No reason to overthink it. If you want, I'll even go to Patmos Island myself.
Raphael: We have ceded our roles to the forces of nature. Do not forget that.
Uriel: And? That doesn't mean we can just ignore the mammoth in the room, does it?
Uriel: Or would you rather wait for islands to start dropping out of the sky, like with the cataclysms?
Sandalphon: ...
Michael: Uriel, there is not yet need for such urgency. The tetra-elements have still only begun to fluctuate.
Michael: It isn't as though the island will lose its buoyancy come tomorrow.
Michael: Besides... we are now living as ordinary residents of the Sky Realm.
Michael: I do not believe we should be so quick to intervene.
Uriel: Well, yeah, I guess. But still...
Raphael: If you accept that fact, then you must give careful consideration to the impact your actions will have.
Uriel: ...
Gabriel: Hehe. I understand how you feel, but let's wait for the supreme primarch's decision.
At this, the gazes of the four primarchs focus on Sandalphon.
Sandalphon: Personally, I'd like for us to respect the will of Lucifer—that we should live as ordinary people.
Sandalphon: After all, he was incredibly wise.
Sandalphon: He must have understood that we would one day have to make such a decision if nature took over our roles.
Sandalphon: Therefore, looking ahead to the future, it would be unwise for us to act.
Sandalphon: That being said...
Falling silent, Sandalphon turns toward the entrance of the shrine.
Gabriel: My, my. It seems we weren't the only ones who sensed a disturbance in the elements.
Uriel: Well, how about that. I'd expect no less from a disciple of mine!
Alexiel: Disciple of Master Uriel, primarch of earth—Alexiel.
Europa: Likewise, Disciple of Gabriel, primarch of water—Europa.
Alexiel: Supreme Primarch and Four Primarchs. Please forgive our insolence in arriving unannounced.
Sandalphon: Not to worry. This is an urgent matter.
The two kneeling disciples bow their heads in reverence before Sandalphon.
Alexiel: You need not trouble yourselves with this affair. We will travel there personally.
Europa: Please give us your order.
The four primarchs look at Sandalphon, their expressions resolute.
Sandalphon: It seems we're all in agreement.
Sandalphon: Then we will entrust this matter to you.
Sandalphon: But as this concerns the Sky Realm, you should seek (Captain)'s cooperation in working toward a solution.
Alexiel: Of course!
Europa: Understood.
After Alexiel and Europa have departed on their assignment, the primarchs sense the movement of another elemental power.
Michael: Well, well...
Raphael: It seems those able to influence the tetra-elements are gathering. That being the case, a resolution may be close at hand.
The elemental power they perceived had belonged to two individuals...
One, the God of War and Tempest Incarnate—Grimnir.
And the other, the Deity of Destruction capable of world annihilation—Shiva.
Grimnir: I, the God of War Grrrrrimnir, shall spearhead the effort to eliminate the source of these most mysterious elemental fluctuations!
Shiva: Is this a harbinger of a natural disaster? Or perhaps grief... or wrath?
If the elemental fluctuations are ignored, they could bring about further cataclysms.
Thus the two primal beasts make their way to Patmos Island in order to put an end to the threat.

Prayers - Chapter 1: Disciples - Episode 1

Alexiel and Europa seek out (Captain)'s aid as instructed by Sandalphon. This being her first mission with Europa, Alexiel hopes to get better acquainted with the water primal by asking how she came to be Gabriel's disciple. Europa glowingly recounts her past, but as the Grandcypher comes into view, she neglects to inquire into Alexiel's discipleship with Uriel.

Leaving the temple behind, Alexiel and Europa soar through the skies in the direction of (Captain)'s ship.
Alexiel: ...
Alexiel: (Rectifying the disturbance in the tetra-elements... To think we've been tasked with such an important duty. It's quite a sobering thought.)
Alexiel: (We must overcome the trial before us and demonstrate our might to the primarchs.)
Europa: ...
Alexiel: ...!
Alexiel: (What a serene smile! I admire how she can maintain her composure so effortlessly...)
Alexiel: (Of course. This mission is not a competition of strength. How arrogant of me!)
Alexiel: (I was on the verge of forgetting our true objective. You have my thanks, Europa.)
Alexiel: Europa, it's a pleasure to have you with me. I hope that we can unite our strength to resolve this matter swiftly.
Europa: Yes. Let us rescue the skyfarers from their suffering so that we may earn Gabriel's praise.
Alexiel: What!
Alexiel: Your aim is to earn the praise of... Master Gabriel?
Europa: Yes.
Staring into Europa's clear, unclouded eyes, Alexiel is moved by this straightforward show of dedication to her desires.
Alexiel: (Such honesty regarding her own wants... She is truly in tune with her innermost feelings.)
Alexiel: (How terribly weak at heart I am in contrast. I always find myself wavering...)
Uriel: There is such a thing as being too serious. You ought to soften that hard head of yours a little.
Alexiel: (That's right—I'm still hardheaded and inflexible. I must be more diligent about learning various viewpoints and internalizing them!)
Alexiel: This is the first time we've embarked on a mission together. We should start by learning more about each other.
Alexiel: Could I ask you to tell me how you became a disciple of Master Gabriel?
Europa: My... Are you interested in how Gabriel and I first met?
Cheeks flushed, excitement gushes from Europa like a fountain, a complete change from her previous demeanor.
Europa: At the time, I was living alone on a small island that was completely devoid of visitors.
Europa: Aside from myself, there were only flora and fauna. Not a single person to be found.
Animals: Squeak!
Europa: Will the stars fall again tonight, I wonder? I hope we'll be able to see many beautiful, gleaming trails.
Europa: Oh my...
Europa: Just as I looked up to admire the brightly shining stars, a meteor shower began to rain down in the night sky.
Europa: My, what beautiful stars...
Gabriel: Hehe.
Europa: ...?
Europa: As I was gazing at the glistening heavens above, a being far more dazzling than any star fluttered down from the sky.
Gabriel: Good evening.
Europa: My... Who might you be?
Gabriel: I am Gabriel—the primarch who governs the element of water, one of the tetra-elements existing in this realm.
Europa: A... primarch?
Gabriel: Tell me, what is your name?
Europa: I am known as Europa. This is merely an empty island, but you are more than welcome here.
Gently lifting the hem of her skirt with both hands, Europa sinks into a graceful curtsy.
Gabriel: Goodness, what a charming name. I must say, it suits you perfectly.
Europa: Does it? I'm ashamed to say I don't know much about names...
Gabriel: Say, Europa. I realize this is quite sudden, but...
Gabriel: Would you like to become my disciple?
Europa: Disciple?
Gabriel: Oh, I should have realized such a term would be unfamiliar to you. Forgive me.
Gabriel: A "disciple" in this sense refers to a being who serves the primarchs.
Gabriel: As a disciple of water, I suppose you would be akin to my protege.
Europa: Pro... Hm?
Gabriel: I'm searching for someone to join us—the primarchs—in protecting the Sky Realm from any new threats that may emerge.
Europa: I'm afraid I'm not very familiar with skydwellers. I've resided on this island for many moons, but I have never once had a mortal visitor.
Europa: I still don't have a clear understanding of their culture and customs, or how they think.
Gabriel: But you do have an interest in them. Is that correct?
Europa: Yes. However, I've never had the opportunity to learn.
Gabriel: Then come with me. I'll teach you all about what kind of creatures mortals are.
Flashing a dazzling smile, Gabriel extends her hand toward Europa, who lovingly takes it.
Europa: I, Europa, offer my entire being to you as your disciple.
Gabriel: Hehe. It's a little dramatic to present yourself as an offering... but thank you.
Europa: Of course!
Europa: Um... May I ask you one question? Why did you choose me?
Gabriel: Well, that's simple.
Gabriel: I was struck by the resplendent beauty emanating from your very being, like a work of art.
Europa: My... I'm flattered...
Europa: Ever since that fateful encounter, I have remained in her service.
Alexiel: Having your existence itself recognized by a primarch upon your first meeting is quite a feat...
Europa: All that I am is thanks to Gabriel. She rectified my ignorance by teaching me many things.
Alexiel: I see!
Turning away from a highly impressed Alexiel, Europa spots (Captain)'s airship anchored at an island's port.
Europa: Now then, let us hasten to speak with (Captain).
Alexiel: Indeed.
Alexiel: Oh, no... Wait, Europa! I have yet to tell you about how my relationship with Uriel came to be!
Alexiel follows after Europa as she swoops down toward the airship.
She finds herself slightly disappointed that her colleague shows no interest in the history between herself and Uriel.

Prayers - Chapter 1: Disciples - Episode 2

Alexiel and Europa inform the crew that elemental fluctuations on Patmos are creating natural disasters on the island. Overhearing the name Patmos, Johann remarks that the Astrals had established a research lab on the island, and that the Kingdom of Patmos had fought the Astrals. Recognizing the value of Johann's knowledge, the crew let him come with them to Patmos.

Europa and Alexiel alight on the Grandcypher's deck.
Sparing little time for greetings, they launch into an explanation of the matter at hand.
Lyria: Um, so about these elemental fluctuations... Does this mean something is going to make the islands fall again?
Alexiel: The elements are not yet out of balance as they were during the calamities. Thus the situation is not nearly as dire.
Alexiel: That being said... a great number of natural disasters have been occurring on Patmos Island.
Alexiel: Judging from the earth elements, there have been fissures opening in the ground, as well as mudslides...
Europa: And from the water elements, flooding rivers and localized torrential rains...
Europa: The elements of fire and wind have also been affected, so storms and heat waves are within the realm of possibility.
Vyrn: That's crazy...
Alexiel: So now you see why we have volunteered our services.
Alexiel: We seek to protect the mortal skydwellers and prune the buds of calamity before they have a chance to sprout.
Europa: Gabriel wishes for the elemental fluctuations to cease so that the people may return to their peaceful lives as soon as possible.
Europa: (Captain), would you be willing to lend us your assistance?
  1. You can count on us.
  2. Sure, if you think we can help.

Choose: You can count on us.
Lyria: Of course! Let's all figure this out together!
Europa: Thank you very much. Your passionate words are very encouraging.
Europa: With the help of your crew, I have no doubt that we'll be able to resolve this promptly.

Choose: Sure, if you think we can help.
Alexiel: Heh... Please, (Captain). Humility may be a virtue, but there is little value in selling yourself short.
Alexiel: I can assure you there hasn't been a single moment in all the battles we have fought together where you have been powerless.
Vyrn: Heh! Well, when you put it like that, how can we not go all in? Let's do this, (Captain)!
Continue 1
Vyrn: All right! With that settled, it's time to set sail for Patmos Island!
Vyrn is about to head to the bridge to convey the change of destination, when suddenly...
???: I've heard everything!
Lyria: J-Johann? What's wrong? You seem awfully flustered...
Alexiel: If memory serves me right, you are a scholar aboard this ship, correct?
Any version of Johann is a crew member

Johann—the resident folklorist—dashes out onto the deck, his eyes ablaze with excitement.
Well-versed in myths and traditions, along with ancient structures and languages, he seeks to uncover the secrets of the Astrals.
In order to conduct his research across various skydoms, he is currently accompanying (Captain) and the crew on their journey.
Johann: Oh, forgive my lack of manners. The mere mention of Patmos Island sent my mind into overdrive.

Johann: Oh, forgive my lack of manners. The mere mention of Patmos Island sent my mind into overdrive.

Vyrn: Whaddya know about that place, Mr. Scholar?
Johann: I have in fact come across it before in my reading. It was home to an Astral research laboratory near the end of the War.
Johann: There is a country named the Kingdom of Patmos located on the island that once waged a fierce battle against the Astrals.
Johann: For elemental fluctuations to be occurring in such a place... the odds are high that it's related to the Astrals somehow.
Johann: If that's the case, I can't afford to miss this opportunity!
Johann: So please, allow me to accompany you on your investigation!
Vyrn: Uh, hang on... It's not like we're goin' there to excavate ruins...
Alexiel: Hmm. Even so, I believe it is a proposal worth considering. What say you, Europa?
Europa: Yes, I agree. Though we may be able to detect fluctuations in the elements, we are unfamiliar with the behavior of the island's inhabitants.
Europa: Your knowledge may prove invaluable in discovering the cause of the disturbances.
Lyria: You're a huge history buff, after all! We're counting on you!
Johann: Of course! I will do my utmost to make myself useful!
Alexiel: Very well. Then you're welcome to join us.
Now, let us depart, (Captain).
With a nod, (Captain) makes for the ship's bridge.
Thus the crew sets a course for Patmos Island to investigate the cause of the elemental fluctuations and resolve the situation.

Prayers - Chapter 1: Disciples - Episode 3

The crew lands on Patmos during a storm stirred by the fluctuations. The townspeople are friendly at first but turn cross after learning that Alexiel and Europa are primal beasts. According to one local, the kingdom is cursed by a primal. Driven from the town, the crew heads toward the island's center to investigate a strong presence. Along the way, they're ambushed by elementals.

Vyrn: Wh-whoa! That lightning strike nearly took us out...
Johann: The situation is far more dire than I anticipated...
Alexiel: We're currently in the midst of a thick cloud. If we can break through, the storm should subside somewhat!
After narrowly managing to escape the swirling storm cloud, (Captain) and the crew finally dock at the Kingdom of Patmos.
Lyria: I can sense some kind of strange presence... I guess it really isn't an ordinary storm.
Europa: Yes, the storm was most likely stirred by the elemental fluctuations.
Europa: If left unchecked, it could grow into a storm of unimaginable proportions.
Vyrn: Whaddya say we talk with the people in town first? Maybe they can give us some clues!
Townsperson 1: Hey, you must be skyfarers. You sure picked a heck of a time to have business here.
Lyria: Um... How long has this storm been going on?
Townsperson 1: Well, it's been like this for a while now. But y'know... it's not just storms.
Townsperson 1: There've been wildfires and fissures popping up all over the island, not to mention floods. We're beyond exhausted.
Lyria: ...
Townsperson 1: Hmph... This country is seriously cursed.
Alexiel: Cursed?
Townsperson 1: You all had better watch yourselves too. If you end up being grounded, you can use my place as a shelter!
Alexiel: We're grateful for your concern. However, our entire purpose in coming here is to investigate the cause of these natural disasters.
Townsperson 1: The cause? How would outsiders like you know anything about that?
Alexiel: (I seem to have aroused his suspicion. In order to gain the cooperation of the people, a sincere explanation is in order.)
Alexiel: We are primal beasts, as well as disciples in service to the primarchs who govern the elements.
Alexiel: Therefore, we can sense that these natural disasters are highly abnormal.
Alexiel: We'd appreciate it if you could tell us what you know—
Townsperson 1: P-primal beasts? What do the weapons of the Astrals want with us?
Alexiel: ...?
As I explained, we've come to uncover the cause of the disasters...
Townsperson 1: Get out! Leave our country in peace—I beg you!
Vyrn: Hey, where the heck did that come from? We haven't done anything wrong!
Townsperson 2: Allow me to apologize for his rudeness. But please understand that we have our reasons.
Townsperson 2: This place is under the curse of a primal beast.
Alexiel: Ah, he did mention a curse...
Townsperson 2: It is an old wound inflicted upon this land long ago, the details of which do not bear recounting in detail.
Townsperson 2: But we believe it to be the cause of these disasters.
Townsperson 2: That's why we can't allow any more primal beasts to roam free in this country...
Townsperson 2: If you understand, please leave.
With those words, the residents forcefully eject (Captain) and the crew from the town.
Alexiel: I was attempting to alleviate any suspicion, but it seems my words had the opposite effect.
Alexiel: I shouldn't have been so quick to reveal our true intentions. Forgive me, everyone.
Europa: You did nothing wrong. Their fearful reactions were highly unusual.
Johann: Yes, and they mentioned something that concerned me a little. A primal beast's curse...
Johann: That gives me even more reason to suspect that the Astrals are somehow connected to these events.
Vyrn: Well, looks like we aren't gonna be gettin' any more info outta those guys. So what do we do now?
Europa: Well...
Europa: Since our arrival, the elements have been interfering with each other with such intensity that it may be difficult to identify our target.
Alexiel: Yes, I noticed that as well.
Vyrn: Then where should we go next?
Alexiel: I sense an enormous elemental power originating from the center of the island.
Europa: Shall we head in that direction for now? Something tells me we might just encounter some familiar faces there.
(Captain) and the crew depart for the center of the island, all the while on the lookout for further hints.
(Captain) and company make their way toward the island's center, led by Alexiel.
Along the way, they are surrounded by nothing but a desolate wasteland, completely void of vegetation or any sign of life.
Vyrn: Boy, this place is totally different from the area around the port...
Lyria: I wonder if anyone lives in this area?
Elemental Swarm: ...!
Vyrn: Wh-what the! Elementals are poppin' up all over the place!
A swarm of elementals suddenly appears before the crew.
Their entire beings flicker violently, poised to attack at any moment.

Prayers - Chapter 1: Disciples - Episode 4

Shiva makes his grand entrance by immolating all of the hostile elementals. Grimnir comes in shortly after. Now that Shiva, Grimnir, Alexiel, and Europa have all gathered, the crew can focus their attention on investigating the source of the fluctuations.

(Captain) and the crew suddenly find themselves surrounded by a swarm of elementals.
Alexiel immediately steps forward to protect the group from the impending attack.
Alexiel: Hmm... Could the fluctuations be causing a mass outbreak of elementals?
Alexiel: I'd prefer not to wield my power needlessly, but if they intend to interfere with our investigation, I have no choice but to cut them down.
Alexiel: Ah... Thankfully, it seems I shall not have to take action.
As Alexiel turns back to face the crew, a great blaze reduces the elemental swarm to ash.
Elemental Swarm: ...
Lyria: Wait... We know these flames! Right, (Captain)?
  1. Good to see you, Shiva.
  2. Talk about a cool entrance.

Choose: Good to see you, Shiva.
Shiva: My adherent, are you and your companions all right?
Vyrn: Heh, never been better! Thanks for the save!

Choose: Talk about a cool entrance.
Lyria: Yeah, it was really packed with power. That's our Shiva!
Shiva: Hm? The children of man certainly do seem to enjoy exhibitions of explosive destruction.
Shiva: "Coolness" is an important factor in your culture. I shall endeavor to increase my proficiency with it.
Continue 1
Alexiel: I had a feeling we might encounter you here.
Shiva: Indeed. I descended upon this place after sensing a mysterious elemental disturbance.
Lyria: Did you know Shiva was on this island, Alexiel?
Alexiel: Due to the elemental interference, I couldn't say for sure...
Alexiel: However, I perceived uniquely powerful fire elements in the center of the island and thought it likely.
Shiva: I had a similar experience. Upon sensing your elements, I also noticed the presence of my adherent.
Shiva: Thus I have manifested to provide my assistance.
Lyria: Thank you so much!
Europa: In that case, let's continue on together, Shiva.
Shiva: Very well.
Shiva: But first... there is one matter that needs addressing.
Europa: Yes, I know. Isn't it about time he revealed himself to us?
Vyrn: Huh?
Grimnir: Grr! I had the coolest entrance all planned out, but Shiva beat me to the punch!
Grimnir: But... but I'm not giving up!
Grimnir: The next time a monster appears, I'm gonna jump out gallantly in front of (Captain)!
Shiva: The God of War has been observing us for quite some time. Should we not wait to join with him before leaving to investigate?
Lyria: What? Oh!
Lyria: It's Grimnir! Was he always standing there?
Grimnir: Hehe, and maybe I'll say something like, "I have arrived to lend your sails my gusting winds." Yeah, that'd be good!
Vyrn: Hey, Windy!
Grimnir: Huh?
Bwaaah!
Vyrn: What're you doin' mumblin' to yourself over there?
Grimnir: Oh, uh, about that... Haha...
Grimnir: A-ahem! Fancy seeing you here, (Captain)!
Grimnir: I should have known it would be impossible to conceal the presence of my mighty winds...
Vyrn: Yeah, no. You stuck out like a green thumb.
Grimnir: Urgh! Well, um, you know...
Grimnir: Anyway! I have come for one reason, and one reason alone!
Grimnir: My tempest has informed me that chaos has befallen this land!
Alexiel: Despite the elemental fluctuations and interference, I was able to sense the power of your winds. Most impressive.
Grimnir: Hehe! Well, I am an impressive guy!
Europa: But are you sure you should be acting on your own without first speaking with Raphael?
Grimnir: Wait, what? I didn't know there was a rule like that! I can't just go where the wind takes me?
Alexiel: If you haven't received any word from Raphael, that must mean you have his trust.
Alexiel: Relationships come in many forms. I see no issue.
Grimnir: Phew, don't freak me out like that! I was scared I was gonna get an earful later!
Grimnir: So—(Captain)! With my winds at your back, resolving this situation will be a simple matter.
Grimnir: You can count on me!
Shiva: Likewise...
Grimnir: (All right! Now I just need to wait for the opportune moment to do something cool like Shiva and redeem myself!)
Joined by fellow primal beasts capable of strongly influencing the tetra-elements, Alexiel takes a step forward.
Alexiel: Let us search for the source of the elemental fluctuations once more.
Primals: Yeah!

Indeed.

Yes.

Prayers - Chapter 2: Abandoned by the Astrals - Episode 1

The primals pinpoint the fluctuation source to a forest toward the south. Shiva surprises everyone when he says he's been learning about mortal culture from Grimnir, who in turn claims he was taught by a young boy during the War. Mentioning the boy seems to sadden Grimnir, but he doesn't elaborate further.

Having added Shiva and Grimnir to their ranks, four primal beasts capable of influencing each of the tetra-elements have now assembled.
By comparing the range of the fluctuations they had each detected, they attempt to determine their source.
As a result...
Alexiel: Hmm... So the forest to the south of this central area seems to be the source of the fluctuations.
Europa: It's rather interesting, don't you think?
Europa: With all four of us together, our power to influence the elements has become even stronger.
Grimnir: Yeah, you said it! This must be what they mean by having good chemistry!
Alexiel: That may be the case. Perhaps that's also why it is easy to discern that the elements are stagnant throughout the island.
Looking toward the southern forest where they intend to head next, Alexiel frowns.
Shiva: Indeed. It seems that what little greenery is left is being withered away by an impure force.
Shiva: The foul presence sweeping throughout this area... One could say it is akin to the roar of a beast that has invaded a holy sanctuary.
Alexiel: Mm... Hm? W-well, it is true that the elemental fluctuations are more pronounced.
Alexiel: It's highly likely that we will encounter another horde of elementals. We must steel ourselves for such an occurrence.
Shiva: There is no need to fear. All will be purged by my flames of salvation.
Shiva: My apocalyptic fire... Yes, it is not unlike a light that destroys the root of all evil itself...
Alexiel: R-right...
Vyrn: What the heck? Is it just me, or is Shiva talkin' kinda weird?
Lyria: Yeah, I noticed that too. It kind of reminds me of Grimnir, actually...
Shiva: You are quite perceptive, Girl in Blue. This style of oration was in fact inspired by a book lent to me by the God of War.
Shiva: Such manner of speech has gained traction among the children of man, has it not?
Lyria: H-huh? Is that right?
  1. Are you two pals now?
  2. Grimnir...

Choose: Are you two pals now?
Shiva: Correct. While strolling through town, I came across the God of War surrounded by children.
Shiva: They imitated his words, pleading with him to say more "cool" phrases.
Shiva: In other words, the children were creating a new form of culture through their worship of the God of War.
Vyrn: Wh-whoa... When you put it like that, it sounds like a lot bigger deal.
Shiva: Afterward I requested his instruction, and we have been in close contact ever since.
Grimnir: Shiva came to me wanting to know about the various customs of the children of man.
Grimnir: So I loaned him some of my favorite books and took him around to all kinds of islands. We've gotten to be pretty good friends!

Choose: Grimnir...
Grimnir: Wh-what's with the judgmental look, (Captain)! Did I do something wrong?
Grimnir: Shiva came to me all eager like, "Please instruct me in the way you speak," so I agreed to teach him! That's all!
Vyrn: Huh? Really?
Shiva: Yes. I became intrigued after witnessing children worshipping the God of War and requesting his instruction.
Grimnir: Yeah, these kids in town kept begging me to say some cool lines.
Grimnir: He was interested in the customs of the children of man, so I've been lending him my favorite books and teaching him stuff ever since!
Shiva: Yes, I am learning much about the words and phrases that fascinate mortals.
Continue 1
Europa: Grimnir certainly does seem to have the most knowledge about the world of mortals out of all of us.
Europa: I still have much to learn from Gabriel and (Captain). You have my respect.
Alexiel: Yes, I always thought you had a rather... unique way of speaking. Is that something you picked up from mortals?
Grimnir: Yep! See, there was this boy who befriended me on an island I happened to stop on during the War.
Grimnir: He liked to read complicated books about poetry, philosophy, and whatnot. I learned a lot from him.
Grimnir: And ever since then, I've been hooked on the culture of the children of man. So I've studied up a bunch!
Alexiel: I am amazed that you were able to interact with a mortal child in such a way, even in the midst of conflict. Your flexibility is admirable.
Lyria: Hehe. Grimnir is always so kind!
Lyria: I bet that boy really enjoyed talking to you, and that's why he taught you all sorts of things!
Grimnir: Ah... Well... Yeah, maybe!
For some reason, Grimnir is evasive in his response to Lyria's words.
(Captain) seems to be the only one to notice this uncharacteristically half-hearted attitude.

Prayers - Chapter 2: Abandoned by the Astrals - Episode 2

(Captain) and company pass through the ruins of a castle town, which they hypothesize was destroyed by a large-scale disaster. Once again they're ambushed by a horde of elementals. Because the elementals came from the direction of the forest, the disciples are confident that's where the source of the fluctuations hides.

(Captain) and company continue making their way toward the suspected source of the elemental fluctuations.
Vyrn: Man, the center of this island is just a whole lot of nothin'.
Vyrn: It'd make sense if there was a volcano or somethin' in the middle, but the fact that it's just a giant wasteland is kinda weird.
Alexiel: Actually... there seems to have been a town in this area originally.
Alexiel: Look at the ground. There are vestiges of what must have been the foundation of a building.
Johann: Based on the scale, it appears something quite large was once erected on this site... A castle possibly?
Johann: If so, the town must have initially been located here in the center of the island. But then why was it moved?
Alexiel: It's unclear what happened, but I sense the remnants of elemental fluctuations here as well. Though they're old and on the verge of disappearing.
Europa: Yes, there are traces of a terrifyingly great power... One that could annihilate even something as large as a castle in an instant.
Townsperson 2: This country is under the curse of a primal beast.
Alexiel: There was mention of a curse. Perhaps this isn't the first time such disasters have occurred on this island.
Shiva: Then it is our duty to purge the evil and bring peace to the people.
Shiva: I will not allow anything to stand in the way of that task.
Elemental Swarm: ...!
Lyria: More elementals!
Alexiel: Hmm, so they've sprung up once again. We must exercise caution in dealing with them.
Grimnir: (Ooh... This is it! The perfect chance to redeem myself!)
Grimnir: Heh... Not to worry! The God of War's mighty lance will cut down every last one!
Europa: I applaud your enthusiasm, but isn't the fire element a bad matchup for you?
Grimnir: Fear not! In the face of my tempest, an ordinary flame is no more than a candle flickering helplessly in the wind.
Grimnir: Behold my cyclone! This spear shall be your demise!
Elemental Swarm: ...
Grimnir: All are powerless before the winds of judgment...
Vyrn: Not yet, Windy!
Grimnir: Huh? No way! How many of them are there!
Alexiel: Good grief, there's no end to them. If anything, they only seem to be growing more powerful.
Shiva: Observe. They appear to be pouring forth from the general area that we predicted to be the root of the fluctuations.
Europa: In that case, there's a strong possibility that their source is one and the same.
Shiva: My adherent, it would be wise to drive through their ranks in the direction of our destination.
Lyria: So if we keep pushing forward as we defeat the elementals, we'll eventually arrive at the source of the fluctuations!
Grimnir: All right—let's go, (Captain)! My tempest shall carve out a path before us!
With Grimnir leading the charge, (Captain) and company continue forward, fighting their way through the swarm of elementals.
Eventually they come upon a vast charred forest stretching out before them.

Prayers - Chapter 2: Abandoned by the Astrals - Episode 3

Arriving at the scorched forest, the crew enters a tunnel, which leads to the remnants of an Astral research lab. Strangely, they find no signs of what's causing the fluctuations. However, a journal left behind by a skydweller details how the islanders had driven the Astrals from the lab during the War. The crew reads on in hopes of uncovering more clues.

Grimnir: See for yourself why I am known as the God of War and Tempest Incarnate!
Alexiel: One after another... Out of our way!
Elemental Swarm: ...!
Europa: My... They just keep coming.
Elemental Swarm: ...!
Johann: They seem to be appearing with increased frequency. We must be getting close to the source!
Vyrn: Hey, there's a fork in the road! Which way do we go?
Shiva silently closes his eyes, attempting to sense the direction that the elementals are coming from.
Shiva: Continue along the right-hand path. My flames shall guide you.
Elemental Swarm: ...!
Europa: They burn quite nicely, don't they?
Grimnir: Wait, what? You already took them all out?
Vyrn: Isn't that a good thing? Now we can actually see what's around us.
Alexiel: Now's our chance. Let us make our way out of this forest!
Vyrn: Right behind ya!
They emerge from the forest to discover a gaping maw that seems to continue into the depths of the desolate earth.
Vyrn: There's a cool breeze comin' from inside...
Alexiel: Based on our evidence, there's a high likelihood that the source of the elementals is at the end of this tunnel. Let us proceed with caution.
Heeding Alexiel's words, (Captain) and company carefully survey the area.
As they look around, Johann notices something that had been dug up near the entrance to the tunnel.
Johann: This design... I've happened upon it before within Astral ruins.
Johann: Could this be the former site of the rumored Astral research laboratory?
Johann: There is no time to waste. Onward!
Vyrn: Hey, hold up, Johann! It's dangerous to go alone!
Europa: That's right. There's no way of knowing what might be waiting for us. We should be very careful...
Grimnir: Heh, not to worry. As long as my tempest howls, you shall not be harmed!
Grimnir: Now, follow me!
Johann: Ah! Grimnir, wait!
Alexiel: Come now, what happened to being careful? Well... I suppose it would be best to settle this matter quickly.
Alexiel: We should follow after them so we don't fall behind.
Judging from the mustiness, dust, and moss permeating the depths of the tunnel, there appears to be no sign of entry.
Eventually they arrive in a large open area filled with equipment, which they surmise to have once been the research laboratory.
Johann: My word! This is incredible! It isn't often that you stumble upon something so well-preserved!
Lyria: So the rumor about there being an Astral research lab on Patmos Island was true.
Johann: Yes. These machines line up with the descriptions I've read, so there's no doubt in my mind!
Lyria: I can sense the faint presence of another primal beast. Is that because they were studied here?
Shiva: Hmm... The origin of the fluctuations that we detected must be here as well.
Shiva: However, I do not see anything that appears to be the source.
Along with mysterious formulas and magic circles scrawled on the surrounding walls and floor, trace amounts of mana residue can be found.
However, aside from those, nothing seems out of the ordinary.
Grimnir: This place is pretty dusty, huh?
Grimnir: Ah, ah... Achoo!
Grimnir sneezes, causing the layers of dust that had accumulated throughout the entire room to fly into the air.
Lyria: Cough, cough...
Grimnir: Crap, I'm sorry!
Grimnir: My raging vortex shall draw in this swirling ancient filth... and carry it far to the horizon!
Europa: Both the dustiness and mustiness have vanished. The air is cleansed, just like after the rain.
Grimnir: Heh-heh!
Johann: Grimnir, please try to be more careful! You even blew the notes and documents off the tables!
Johann: They could have been of archaeological importance!
Grimnir: What! No way! I'm really, really sorry!
While the group is collecting the scattered papers, Alexiel spots a journal that had fallen to the floor.
Alexiel: Hmm... Isn't this the journal of a skydweller?
Johann: A skydweller? Why would a skydweller's journal be here in an Astral research lab?
Johann: Alexiel, could I see that for a moment?
Taking the journal, Johann opens the front cover and begins carefully turning the pages.
Johann: In the later stages of the War, it seems this laboratory was involved in the research and creation of a primal beast.
Johann: And according to this journal, the skydwellers drove out the Astrals and took control of this place.
Europa: The research and creation of a primal beast...
Europa: Then could that primal beast be the cause of the fluctuations?
Alexiel: We have yet to confirm the current presence of any primal beast, but it may very well be...
Grimnir: Hmm... Well, first things first! Might as well finish reading that journal before thinking things through, right?
Vyrn: Windy's right! Johann, go ahead and read the rest!
Johann: Yes, with pleasure!
Thus Johann continues flipping through the journal in search of the cause of the fluctuating tetra-elements.

Prayers - Chapter 2: Abandoned by the Astrals - Episode 4

According to the journal, after driving off the Astrals, the Kingdom of Patmos adopted Amulet, a primal beast whom the Astrals had abandoned in the lab. Amulet protected the people and was beloved by all until one day, she became like a natural disaster and destroyed the castle town. Her body then split into five pieces. While her main body was contained in the lab, the surviving Patmos knights built sealing shrines on the island's four cardinal points to restrain her detached limbs.

A research laboratory once existed in the depths of a forest tunnel, serving as an important base for the Astrals.
The battle between the skydwellers seeking to conquer the facility and the Astrals attempting to defend it is said to have been fierce.
Following a long struggle, the skydwellers finally succeeded in gaining control of the laboratory.
The Astrals were forced to retreat. However...
It was discovered that a dormant primal beast had been left behind.
???: ...
Royal Knight: Is this girl really... a primal beast?
The skydwellers gaze at the primal beast that has assumed the form of a lovely young girl, unsure of what to do.
Royal Knight: Step back! The primal's awake!
Amulet: I am Amulet... a primal beast with the power of absorption.
Amulet: Who... are you all?
As the others prepare for battle, one lone skydweller motions for them to lower their arms.
Royal Knight: Wait. It's true that primal beasts may be weapons...
Royal Knight: But I can't see the being that stands before us now as anything other than a confused young girl.
Europa: The Astrals may have lost their laboratory, but the War wasn't over yet, correct?
Europa: Though it took the form of a young girl, it was still a primal beast. Did the skydwellers have a lapse in judgment?
Shiva: The primal beast had only just awakened and had no true sense of self...
Shiva: Thus the children of man must have followed their hearts and protected her.
As Johann turns to the next page of the journal, a smile crosses his face.
Johann: It seems the primal beast Amulet became an ally of the skydwellers.
Johann: See? It says here, "When the Astrals returned, she absorbed every one of their attacks and protected the land!"
Alexiel: So she wielded her power in order to repay her debt to those who spared her.
Johann: ...
Vyrn: Huh? What's wrong, Johann? You sure got quiet all of a sudden...
Johann: Er, well... It goes on to say that some time after they had come to view Amulet as a friend, she suddenly rebelled against them...
Grimnir: Wait, what? Why? I thought she was getting along great with the skydwellers!
Amulet: Hnnh... Hnnh...
Amulet: Groooar!
With Amulet's cry, the Kingdom of Patmos is engulfed by a myriad of natural disasters all at once.
Royal Knight: Please! Answer us, Amulet!
Royal Knight: We thought we had come to an understanding with you... Does this mean we were just deluding ourselves?
Amulet: ...
Royal Knight: Heh, so you have no reply? In the end, you truly are the Astrals' beast... A higher being incapable of coexisting with skydwellers.
Royal Knight: Heh... Hahaha... Hahahaha!
Seemingly out of nowhere, Amulet has risen in revolt.
Feeling utterly betrayed, the royal knights prepare to utilize the full extent of their power to suppress the primal beast.
Royal Knight: Now then, Amulet! You will fall before us!
Royal Knight: Haaah!
Royal Mage: Yaaah!
However, Amulet effortlessly absorbs each and every attack.
And then, as though expelling every bit of power that had been drawn into her small frame...
Amulet: Graaah!
Johann: With the force of a natural disaster, she annihilated the town, blowing away the central castle in an instant.
Alexiel: So the ravaged land we encountered was the work of a primal beast.
Johann: At the end of all the destruction...
Johann: Having perhaps finally exhausted her power, Amulet's body separated into five pieces and went into a dormant state.
Johann: The surviving royal mages sealed her main body in the laboratory, so as not to lose what may be their only chance for victory.
Johann: Furthermore, they risked their lives to seal the four limbs within shrines constructed at the eastern, western, southern, and northernmost edges of the island.
Grimnir: I'm not sure what could have happened to cause her to flip out, but it's a pretty heartrending story...
After learning of the events described in the journal, (Captain) and the crew fall silent in thought.

Prayers - Chapter 3: The Sealed Primal Beast - Episode 1

Amulet's inexplicable betrayal of the kingdom baffles the crew. Alexiel wonders if Amulet had simply lost control of her power, something Alexiel herself had struggled with before. Assuming Amulet might be connected to the fluctuations, the crew searches the lab for Amulet's main body.

Shiva: Mm...
Europa: What a sorrowful turn of events. How could they have ended up fighting against each other after seemingly reaching an understanding?
Grimnir: Hmm... But something doesn't add up.
Grimnir: To befriend the children of man in the first place, she must have been touched by their hearts somehow...
Grimnir: Isn't it weird that she'd suddenly betray them?
Europa: Perhaps there was a reason. Some sort of misunderstanding, or possibly an external factor—one that caused the primal beast to go mad.
Lyria: Alexiel, you look like you're in pain... Are you not feeling well?
Alexiel: Ah, no, it's not that...
Alexiel: I can't say for sure whether that primal beast betrayed the mortals or went berserk.
Alexiel: But... I was suddenly reminded of myself.
Alexiel: I wonder if perhaps she was simply unable to control her own power...
Uriel: Worn out already? Come on—stop trying to hit me and hit me.
Alexiel: Hup! Hyah! Haaah!
Uriel: ...
Alexiel: Strike true!
Uriel: Hah, you're full of openings.
As Alexiel attacks with all her might, Uriel takes advantage of that very strength to send her flying.
Her master's counter is so effective that it forces her to confront her own lack of ability.
Alexiel: Damn it... Not again!
Uriel: Are you some sort of wild boar? If I wanted to destroy an enemy with brute strength, I'd do it myself.
Alexiel: Ngh...
Uriel: I want you to think hard about that. Otherwise I'll never be able to trust you with a mission.
Alexiel: One more round... Please!
Uriel: Hold on. Hear me out first.
Uriel: All right, listen up. You have mirror-blades that can be used both offensively and defensively.
Uriel: So don't use them to just attack as hard as you can like a one-trick pony.
Uriel: Not everyone's blessed with your defensive capabilities. Let the enemy come to you.
Alexiel: ...
Uriel: Set aside winning and focus on protecting what's important first.
Uriel: Then while the enemy's tiring itself out trying to break your defenses, determine their weakness!
Uriel: If you exploit that weakness, you can turn the tables in an instant.
Uriel: Don't just throw everything you've got at them. Aim for the right moment!
Alexiel: Aim... for the right moment...
Uriel: Come on, don't overthink it.
Uriel: Know what? Why don't I leave you under (Captain)'s care for a while? Let the good captain temper that hard head of yours.
Alexiel: (I certainly have learned a great deal since then through my journey with the crew...)
Alexiel: Perhaps that primal beast is how I would have turned out, had I not been mentored by Master Uriel and (Captain)...
Shiva: Wait. Considering we still do not understand the complete story, it is far too early to begin pitying her.
Shiva: We could yet determine that the conflict was due to a simple betrayal or some other cause.
Alexiel: Yes... You're absolutely right. I mustn't allow myself to get tunnel vision. Thank you for the wise words.
Johann: Even so, it's difficult to imagine that the primal beast Amulet is completely unrelated to these happenings.
Vyrn: Yeah, I mean... that journal even said she had the power of a natural disaster.
Shiva: That being the case, perhaps we should make checking those seals our first priority.
Europa: Yes, I agree. Her main body was said to be sealed within this laboratory, so let's do our best to locate it.
With their next objective clear, (Captain) and the crew return to searching the research laboratory for the whereabouts of the primal beast.

Prayers - Chapter 3: The Sealed Primal Beast - Episode 2

The crew discovers a grossly transfigured Amulet in a hidden area beneath the lab, imprisoned by a crude seal. Amulet attacks (Captain) and Vyrn—the skyfarers feel as if the primal is trying to absorb them. Grimnir rescues the pair, and the crew prepares for battle.

(Captain) and the crew search the research laboratory from top to bottom.
However, they are unable to find any sign of the primal beast said to be sealed there.
Grimnir: Well, that's weird. She's nowhere to be found.
Grimnir: This lab definitely seems to be the source of the fluctuations, so if there's really a connection, she should be here...
Lyria: Hmm... Yeah, I can sense the presence of a primal beast...
Lyria: But it's a little hazy... Maybe because she's sealed?
Alexiel: Wait.
Alexiel: We have company again!
Elemental Swarm: ...!
Europa: Hehe, they were terribly kind to reveal themselves to us. By doing so, they've confirmed that there is indeed something here.
Shiva: An excellent point. We should consider this serendipity.
Grimnir: Leave this to me!
Grimnir: My tempest shall rage with still greater fury and shred them to pieces... Howl forth, my forbidden winds!
Elemental Swarm: ...!
Vyrn: Haha, dang! Windy's still got it!
Grimnir: I am the God of War and Mad Cyclone, Grrrrrimnir!
Grimnir: Whew, nailed it!
Ignoring Grimnir's antics, everyone else has congregated around Alexiel, who crouches with her palms to the ground.
Alexiel: I knew it...
Grimnir: Huh? What's with the group huddle?
Europa: Grimnir, please watch your step.
Grimnir: What? Why?
While Grimnir tilts his head in confusion, Alexiel manipulates the earth elements.
As a result, the ground beneath them collapses, sending (Captain) and company hurtling downward.
Grimnir's Voice: Bwaaah!
Alexiel: Whew... Is everyone all right?
Lyria: Yeah!
Grimnir: Whoa! How'd you know there was something underground? That's amazing!
Alexiel: I sensed that the elementals were manifesting from directly below us.
Shiva: I assume the original path to this hidden lair must have been blocked off in order to prevent someone from damaging the seal.
Shiva: Still, this miasma is utterly indescribable...
The underground area is filled with an unusually high concentration of miasma, making it impossible to see even directly ahead.
Alexiel: Grimnir, if you please.
Grimnir: Okay! One miasma buster coming right up!
Grimnir unleashes a powerful cyclone, which tears through the miasma clouding their vision and opens up a path before them.
As the air clears, their eyes fall upon an eerily writhing and squirming primal beast.
Amulet: ...
Alexiel: Is that... the sealed primal beast?
Europa: The seal appears to have been applied in a particularly brutal fashion.
Grimnir: Yeah, it must've been hastily improvised. It seems so painful, I can't bear to look...
Shiva: It truly is cruel. What sort of process could have reduced her to such a state?
Having expected to see a young girl, (Captain) and company are shocked at the sight of the bulging, disfigured primal beast before them.
Vyrn: ...
Suddenly Amulet's lips move ever so slightly, as though reacting to some sort of stimulus.
Amulet: ...
Vyrn: Urgh... I'm feelin'... dizzy...
Lyria: No, Vyrn! Stay away from the primal beast!
  1. Vyrn! Snap out of it!

Choose: Vyrn! Snap out of it!
Vyrn: Bwuh?
Amulet: Aah... Power... Power...
Without warning, the miasma emanating from Amulet's body swoops down upon Vyrn.
Gran is the Main Character

(Captain) manages to grab the little dragon's paw, but the miasma threatens to engulf the captain as well.
Djeeta is the Main Character

(Captain) manages to grab the little dragon's paw, but the miasma threatens to engulf the captain as well.
Lyria: (Captain)! Vyrn!
Grimnir: I don't think so!
With lightning speed, Grimnir leaps toward the primal beast.
Thanks to his quick actions, (Captain) and Vyrn are rescued from the brink of being swallowed up.
Gran is the Main Character

Grimnir: Are you two okay?
Djeeta is the Main Character

Grimnir: Are you two okay?
Amulet: Aah... How... could you... Stop...
Vyrn: Yep! You saved our hides, Windy!
Europa: Was that her power of absorption? I wonder if she thinks we're enemies.
Alexiel: She may be operating on instinct, but if she intends to harm us, we have no option but to confront her.
Grimnir: Understood! In the name of the God of War, she will surely be struck down!
Amulet: Grr... Graaah!
Shiva: (This cry... Is it the sound of her resentment toward the islanders? Or perhaps...)

Prayers - Chapter 3: The Sealed Primal Beast - Episode 3

Instead of attacking the crew, Amulet unleashes elemental energy through the ceiling, causing a cave-in that forces the crew to retreat from the tunnel. Realizing Amulet's seal won't last, the disciples think it's better to put the primal to rest using Lyria's power. To do so, they need to visit each of the four sealing shrines. Suddenly, smoke rises in the direction of the eastern shrine.

Amulet: Aah... Graaah!
Alexiel: I don't sense an incoming attack... The seal seems to have restricted the use of her ability as well.
Alexiel: Or perhaps she lacks sufficient space within her body to amass any more power...
Shiva: Hm?
Shiva: Fall back!
At that moment, a strong elemental power surges out from the primal beast's body and spreads throughout the area.
But rather than launching toward the crew, the elemental energy instead destroys a section of the ceiling and heads above ground.
Grimnir: Whoa! What do you think you're doing!
Alexiel: Did she forcefully disperse her power? But considering she shot it away from us, we don't appear to be her target.
Europa: Is she attempting to escape? Or perhaps she intends to wreak havoc above ground...
Johann: This is bad... At this rate, the ceiling is going to come crashing down on us!
Lyria: Oh no, there goes the basement...
Vyrn: Talk about a close shave. Glad we all made it out in one piece!
Alexiel: Hmm, if scattering a mere portion of her power is enough to generate a quake of that magnitude, what would happen if she released all of it?
Alexiel: There is an undeniable possibility that it could cause catastrophic damage to the island.
Europa: But we can't simply leave her in that state...
Alexiel: I agree. On top of being crudely done, the seal has deteriorated greatly over time. It won't last much longer.
Alexiel: She may not be able to move for now, but the wedge that nails her down will ultimately detach, and she will be unleashed.
Alexiel: Recruiting the islanders' assistance to reapply the seal would not be easy, and even if they agreed, I daresay Amulet would eventually arise again.
Alexiel: Therefore, I think it best to put an end to the primal beast's rampage and make it so the seal itself is no longer necessary.
Grimnir: Oh, in that case... shouldn't we ask the girl in blue to lend us her power?
Grimnir: If we subdue the primal and have the girl in blue absorb her power, there won't be any need for a seal anymore!
Lyria: Okay! I'll do my best!
Shiva: Now we just need to determine a method to subdue her that limits damage to the island.
Johann: Actually, I have an idea, if I may.
Johann takes out the journal he had saved from the laboratory and opens it for all to see.
Johann: As I mentioned before, the four limbs were sealed within shrines to the east, west, south, and north.
Johann: If we subdue them one by one and have Lyria absorb them, the primal beast's power should be diminished.
Alexiel: I see. Yes, it seems unlikely that the four limbs are entirely independent of the main body.
Alexiel: An excellent proposal. It will reduce the burden on the girl in blue, and we may come to learn more about the primal beast's power while investigating the shrines.
Europa: Well, it sounds as though we have a plan. Where is the nearest shrine?
Johann: Ah, give me just a moment...
Johann: I assume from the description in this journal that it must be just east of here...
Johann: Wh-whoa! What in the skies is happening?
Lyria: E-everyone, look! There's smoke rising to the east!

Prayers - Chapter 3: The Sealed Primal Beast - Episode 4

The severed right arm of Amulet has broken free of its seal at the eastern shrine and is wreaking havoc on Patmos knights and mages. The crew gets ready to fight the colossal miasma-clad limb.

As the ground rumbles violently, smoke can be seen rising from the direction of what is likely one of the sealing sites.
Grimnir: The elements are fluctuating...
Alexiel: Don't tell me that dispersion of power is already having an effect...
Alexiel: Either way, something has undeniably happened. We must head there at once!
Released from the sealing shrine, an enormous right arm hovers in the air, cloaked in a disastrous miasma.
As though mocking the knights cowering before it, it spits flames in all directions while simultaneously using strikes of lightning to cause rampant destruction.
???: ...
Knight: Do not falter! Think of the destruction our country will suffer if this beast is not stopped here and now!
Mage: Right!
Knight: Now then! Let's attack again!
Both: Haaah!
???: ...
Knight: What! N-not even a scratch?
???: ...!
Knight: Urgh!
Mage: With a single blow?
The massive hand reaches out toward the knights who have lost all will to fight, ready to crush them.
But just when all hope seems lost, there is a sudden gust of wind.
Grimnir: My tempest shall cast the final judgment upon you! Dance, winds!
???: ...!
Grimnir: Hey, you two! Are you okay?
Knight: Y-yes...
Grimnir: Hehe, glad to hear it!
Lyria: The aura of that hand feels just like the aura of the primal in the lab!
Alexiel: I see. So this is one of the four limbs that was said to be sealed.
Europa: Then for the time being, shall we attempt to calm it down?
Shiva: Indeed. My flames will purge this unholy power.

Prayers - Chapter 4: Absorption - Episode 1

Grimnir thinks he has captured the limb, but the giant arm does something to the God of War and vanishes. Believing that the energy released by Amulet is weakening the sealing shrines, the crew hurries to the next one. As they're leaving, the disciples are berated by the people they'd just saved. A gloomy Europa wonders if it's even possible to smooth things over with these skydwellers.

Grimnir: My winds shall cleave the heavens and shatter the earth!
Grimnir: Haaah!
Surrounded by swirling winds, Grimnir manages to pin down the enormous right forearm. However...
Massive Right Arm: ...!
Grimnir: Wh-what the!
Grimnir: Wait, huh? I'm... okay?
Vyrn: Look alive, Windy! It's gettin' away!
Massive Right Arm: ...!
Grimnir: Hey! That's not fair, scaring me like that!
Grimnir: You're not going anywhere!
Grimnir swings down his spear, slamming the monstrous arm into the ground before it can escape.
Massive Right Arm: ...!
Grimnir: Now, Girl in Blue!
Grimnir: Go ahead and absorb that, uh... that right arm thing!
Lyria: Okay, got it!
Massive Right Arm: ...!
Grimnir: Whoa! What the heck?
Lyria: Huh? It disappeared...
Lyria attempts to track the presence of the arm, but her face falls as she realizes all traces of it have vanished.
Shiva: There is no need to be discouraged. Though you were unable to absorb the beast, we still succeeded in protecting the children of man.
Lyria: I know... But...
Europa: I understand your concerns, Lyria.
Europa: You must be wondering where that right arm could have gone, correct?
Lyria: Yeah...
Europa: I'm afraid I can't offer any insight into its whereabouts, but should we encounter it again, we will ensure it is thoroughly weakened first.
Europa: Then we will leave the rest to you.
Lyria: Okay, thank you!
Shiva: Hmm, I suppose that right arm must have been unleashed as a result of the incident in the research laboratory.
Alexiel: The power Amulet released must have spread throughout the island, loosening the wedges within the shrines where the limbs were sealed.
Europa: If that is indeed the case, the seals on the remaining limbs will soon be broken, and people may be attacked again.
Vyrn: Then that's all the more reason to take 'em out quick and have Lyria calm 'em down!
Nodding at Vyrn, (Captain) asks Johann to decipher the location of the next sealing site.
Johann: Understood! One moment please...
Grimnir: Hmm...
Meanwhile, Grimnir senses something strange about his own cyclonic power.
Grimnir: (Something's not right. Feels like I'm off my game. Like my body's all sluggish...)
Massive Right Arm: ...!
Grimnir: Wh-what the!
Grimnir: Wait, huh? I'm... okay?
Grimnir: Nope, nope, nope...
Grimnir: (If I admit I'm feeling off, it'll just make (Captain) worry...)
Grimnir: (Yeah, that's right. I'll just keep an eye on it for now!)
Johann: (Captain), I've determined the next location. Let's be on our way!
Johann: Actually, before that...
Johann: You two, hiding over there. They just saved your lives, you know. How about a word of thanks?
Both: ...
Alexiel: Johann, the people of this land are averse to primal beasts. There's no need to force them to—
Mage: You monsters came here to destroy our country, didn't you!
Knight: Hey, don't antagonize them! You'll be killed!
Mage: First you pretend to save us from that crazed primal!
Mage: Then once it's gone, you'll annihilate us yourselves!
From the mage's raving, Johann is able to grasp the gist of the situation.
Johann: I see. The trauma of being betrayed by a primal beast they once trusted still hangs heavily over this country.
Johann: Their ancestors' "mistake" has been passed through the generations and remains as a lesson not to trust primal beasts.
Europa: ...
Alexiel: Mortal. You are free not to believe us, but we have come to put an end to the natural disasters ravaging this land. Nothing more, nothing less.
Knight: ...
Alexiel: Come, everyone. Let us take our leave for now.
As (Captain) and the crew make their departure, the townspeople hurl insults and obscenities at their backs.
Their words pierce Europa's heart deeply.
Europa: ...
Europa: (Aside from the singularity and the crew...)
Europa: (Is there no hope for primal beasts and mortals coexisting after all?)
Europa: (Please help me see the truth... Gabriel...)
Gabriel: In order to fully understand mortals, it's important to not only study their cultures, ideologies, and lifestyles, but to interact with them as well.
Europa: Interact?
Gabriel: Yes. Try speaking with them. It's one of the best ways to grasp how they think and feel.
Following Gabriel's advice, Europa made an effort to socialize with skydwellers whenever she had the chance.
Through many new discoveries and experiences, the smiling faces of the people she met came to be etched vividly into her mind.
Europa: It was fascinating to see mortals supporting each other in their endeavors.
Europa: And the sight of families gathering to spend a pleasant time together over a meal was truly something special.
Gabriel: Hehe. I'm delighted it was such a rewarding experience for you.
Europa: Also, well... How should I put it...
Europa: The way they cherish and care for their companions, animals, and even objects...
Europa: I was especially impressed by that part!
Gabriel: Yes. What you most likely sensed was something called "love."
Europa: Love...
Gabriel: The four basic emotions of joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure are not the whole of mortal feelings.
Gabriel: It wouldn't be an overstatement to say that love is just as important.
Europa: It seems I still have much to learn about mortals.
Gabriel: Yes, of course. The more you know, the more intriguing they become.
Europa: I must say, the mortal smile is a beautiful thing. There were times I found myself enchanted by it.
Seeing Europa's own beaming smile, Gabriel's expression is suddenly tinged with unease.
Gabriel: I agree. Their smiles certainly are beautiful.
Gabriel: But you know, mortals have many other sides as well.
Gabriel: That's why I'd like you to continue learning about them, Europa.
Gabriel: And if in the end you're able to see them as precious and beautiful beings through and through, that will make me very happy.
Europa: ...
Europa: (I want to continue living alongside mortals.)
Europa: (What will it take to bridge the gap between us and them?)
Europa: (Just as Gabriel said, I need to learn much more about the mortal world.)
Europa ponders to herself, searching desperately for a way to connect with the islanders.

Prayers - Chapter 4: Absorption - Episode 2

While deciding which sealing shrine to hit next, Grimnir senses that the northern seal is close to breaking. He realizes Amulet's right arm must have absorbed a portion of his wind power during the previous fight, which allowed him to faintly connect with Amulet. This gives Shiva an idea, and he heads back to the lab alone in an attempt to communicate with Amulet's main body.

Lyria: The forest is burning here too...
Vyrn: We'd better hurry, or the whole island's gonna turn into a wasteland.
Alexiel: Yes, we must swiftly subdue all four limbs and curtail the power of the main body.
Grimnir: ...!
Grimnir: (Huh? What's this strange feeling in my chest?)
Amulet: ...
Grimnir: Um...
Surveying the area, Grimnir points to a small hill in the distance.
Grimnir: Say, Johann. Is the northern sealing shrine that way by any chance?
Johann: What? Let me take a look!
Lowering the journal he had been examining, Johann peers in the direction Grimnir is pointing and gasps.
Johann: Y-yes! Just as you said, there is a sealing shrine on that spot!
Grimnir: Huh...
Vyrn: How'dja know that?
Grimnir: Well, I just had this, like, fluttering in my chest. It's kind of hard to explain...
Grimnir: Basically I had a vague feeling there was a seal over there that might be breaking.
Vyrn: How about you, Lyria? Sense anything?
Lyria: No, nothing yet...
Europa: I wonder why Grimnir was the only one of us to suddenly be blessed with such foresight?
Grimnir: Huh?
Grimnir: Um, well...
Grimnir: Just the luck of the draw I guess! Yep!
Alexiel: Grimnir. What are you hiding?
Grimnir: Hiding? That's not a very nice way to put it!
(Captain) steps forward to grab Grimnir's shoulders and proceeds to stare him down.
Grimnir: ...
Grimnir: F-fine, enough with the third degree! I'll talk!
Grimnir: So much for trying not to worry (Captain)...
Europa: I thought you were looking a little pale. Could this be part of the reason?
Grimnir: Hmm... Yeah, maybe. Actually, I've been feeling a little weak for a while...
Grimnir: I was thinking, just maybe, that primal beast might've absorbed my power to influence the wind elements or something...
Alexiel: Your wind power! Are you all right?
Grimnir: Mm, yeah, pretty sure I can manage. It's all good!
Though Grimnir's reply is cheerful, it's clear to (Captain) and the crew that he is merely putting up a brave front.
Lyria: ...
Grimnir: Well, anyway!
Grimnir: The feeling's really faint, but I can kind of tell when a seal's about to break now. So it's not all bad!
Vyrn: Yeah? Can't say I'm not worried though...
Alexiel: So by having a portion of your power absorbed by Amulet, you've formed a connection with her, if only slightly.
Alexiel: Hmm, in that case, would it be possible for us to ask her a question?
Grimnir: Oh, good idea! I'll give it a whirl!
Grimnir: I am the God of War and Mad Cyclone, Grrrrrimnir!
Grimnir: Amulet, can you hear me? If so, please respond...
Grimnir: ...
Vyrn: So? Anything?
Grimnir: Nope, not a thing! Maybe we just haven't gotten to know each other well enough yet.
Vyrn: You think that's the problem?
Shiva: Hmm.
Shiva: My adherent, could I entrust the matter of the limbs to you?
Shiva: I will descend into the laboratory's underground lair and stand watch over the main body.
Lyria: But that primal beast absorbs power! It's too dangerous to go all by yourself!
Shiva: Worry not, Girl in Blue. I have been struck with a flash of inspiration.
Shiva: If the God of War was able to establish even the smallest link with the primal beast after having his power of wind absorbed...
Shiva: By imparting my own power, I may be able to delve into her thoughts and attempt to communicate with her myself.
Lyria: But...
  1. I believe in Shiva.
  2. Just don't do anything reckless.

Choose: I believe in Shiva.
Shiva nods, seemingly satisfied by (Captain)'s confidence.
Shiva: Well spoken, my adherent. Your faith acts as my strength.
Shiva: Rest assured, Girl in Blue. I will not do anything to bring you sorrow.
Lyria: Okay. If you say so, then I'll believe in you too!

Choose: Just don't do anything reckless.
Shiva: Believe in me. As long as I have your faith, I shall not fail you.
Lyria: You're right. We're your adherents, so we'll trust in you!
(Captain) nods vehemently in agreement with Lyria's words.

Shiva: Then be on your way. I shall rejoin you shortly.
After wishing Shiva luck, (Captain) and company begin heading in the direction of the sealing shrine.

Prayers - Chapter 4: Absorption - Episode 3

Lyria is unable to absorb Amulet's left arm at the northern sealing shrine. To make matters worse, Grimnir's gales are severely weakened; conversely, the left arm uses Grimnir's stolen power to great effect. To avoid having her own power stolen, Europa keeps her distance and sends a flood of water at the arm, but ultimately her water power is absorbed as well.

(Captain) and company hurry to the northern sealing shrine.
But before they manage to reach it, the gigantic left forearm breaks free and prepares to make its escape.
Grimnir: Aw, damn it! We're too late!
Vyrn: Hey, that thing's about to make a break for it! We gotta do somethin'!
Grimnir: Never fear! My tempest shall seize it before it can flee!
Massive Left Arm: ...
Although Grimnir's winds envelop the massive arm, they have no more strength than that of a gentle breeze.
Unable to contain the monstrous left arm, the feeble drafts gradually fade away into nothingness.
Grimnir: Huuuh? But I put everything I had into that!
Massive Left Arm: ...!
Suddenly a tornado comes hurtling toward Grimnir, but he dodges it in the nick of time.
Grimnir: Whoa-oa-oa!
Grimnir: Hey, I knew you had my power! Grr! You're not getting away with this!
Massive Left Arm: ...
Alexiel: It seems having your power absorbed by the right arm is affecting you significantly.
Alexiel: Even so, your winds succeeded in drawing that monstrosity's attention.
Alexiel: We can take solace in the fact that it was delayed, though perhaps not in the manner we expected.
Europa: Nevertheless, I'm surprised that it's able to use absorbed power at will.
Alexiel: Indeed...
Vyrn: This is bad! Don't let it grab any more power from us!
Alexiel: Leave this to me!
Europa: Wait, please!
Alexiel: Hm?
Europa: In our previous battle, Grimnir struck the right arm with his spear, which was imbued with the power of wind.
Europa: If physical contact plays a factor in power absorption, then hitting it with your sword may produce the same result.
Alexiel: ...
Europa: Allow me to handle this.
Europa: I'll use the power of water to wash everything away!
Massive Left Arm: ...!
Europa: Yes... I think this is the way to go!
Europa: Behold the radiance of the star of water... Taurus Blight!
Just when it appears as though Europa's pure waters have captured the enormous arm...
Massive Left Arm: ...!
Europa: Ngh!
Lyria: Europa!
Europa: I'm all right. Just a little weak...
Alexiel: Don't tell me your power was absorbed as well!
Europa: I didn't think it was possible without direct contact with the originator. Forgive me.
Vyrn: Hey, that arm's gonna bolt!
Massive Left Arm: ...
Vyrn: It disappeared...
As in the previous battle, the monstrous arm dissipates into the air and vanishes.
Faced with another setback, (Captain) and the crew try to decide what to do next.
Grimnir: Hmm... So if we fight it, it'll absorb our power...
Grimnir: But we can't just sit back and give it free reign... Argh! What're we supposed to do!
Johann: In all likelihood, the two remaining sealed limbs possess the same ability. That being the case, if we face them in the same way...
Europa: Yes, Alexiel could have her power stolen as well.
Europa: To further compound the issue, we don't know how (Captain) and the others might be affected by the limbs.
Europa: I'm afraid we may be far more helpless in this matter than we care to admit.
The powers of wind and water have been partially absorbed by the primal beast Amulet.
Knowing that continuing to fight in the same manner will put them in even more dire straits, (Captain) and company find themselves at a loss for what to do.

Prayers - Chapter 4: Absorption - Episode 4

One of the knights who had been watching the battle with the left arm acknowledges the crew's desire to protect the island and makes a formal request for aid from the crew. He opens up his home to (Captain) and the others so that Grimnir and Europa can rest while they await news from Shiva.

(Captain) and company discuss their next course of action in front of the shrine.
Suddenly a group of people come running toward them.
Knight: Ah! It... it's you!
Alexiel: Hm? Oh, you're the soldiers from the previous shrine.
Knight: We thought we saw what appeared to be miasma rising from the forest...
Grimnir: Hah, not to worry! The left arm, uh, thingamajig that manifested in this land has been brought to justice!
Mage: Oh yeah? So in other words, you exterminated one of your buddies.
Mage: Then haven't you done enough? Just seeing you primals makes my skin crawl. Get off our island already!
Johann: The loathsomeness of primal beasts has been ingrained in the minds of this country's residents.
Johann: So I understand why it may be impossible for you to accept their words at face value. But still...
Europa: Thank you, Johann. I appreciate you kindly taking our feelings into account. But... it's all right.
Alexiel: Well then, if you will excuse us.
Let us make our way to the next sealing shrine.
Knight: ...
Knight: Wait!
Knight: To be frank, I cannot see primal beasts as any more than abominations!
Knight: However... you saved our lives and protected this land. That is a fact.
Knight: I know what I'm about to ask is hypocritical, and for that I apologize...
Knight: But if the primal beast's limbs appear again, would you be willing to lend us your assistance?
Johann: Sigh... Hypocritical is right...
Johann: But I cannot fault your honesty.
  1. Of course we'll help.
  2. Is that okay with you, Europa?

Choose: Of course we'll help.
Grimnir: You bet! We originally came to this island to save it anyway!

Choose: Is that okay with you, Europa?
Europa: ...
Yes. If you say it's all right, then I take no issue.
Continue 1
Knight: Thank you for your generosity!
Alexiel: Well then, I suppose it would be prudent for you to know how we intend to proceed.
Alexiel explains that they plan to subdue the four limbs in order to weaken Amulet's power.
She goes on to inform them that her companions have had their powers stolen by Amulet's absorption ability.
Alexiel: One of our comrades is currently returning to the location where the main body is sealed. He may be able to glean some additional information.
Alexiel: While awaiting his report, we will reevaluate our plans going forward.
Alexiel: And it would be ideal if my companions could have a chance to rest...
After falling silent for a moment, the knight seems to come to a decision.
Knight: Then come to my home. Though I have no means of assisting you directly, I will at least prepare a place for you to rest.
Mage: Captain!
Alexiel: That would be most helpful, but are you sure? I assume this doesn't mean you have come to trust us fully...
Knight: As ashamed as I am to admit it, you are correct. But having requested your cooperation, I must be willing to compromise.
Knight: A knight who asks for assistance and offers nothing in return is a disgrace.
Mage: Then at least take them to our headquarters, where there should be plenty of guards to keep an eye on them...
Knight: If our order takes in primal beasts—beings that we have always been taught to despise—it may bring further confusion to the people.
Knight: In my home, they will be safely out of the public eye. Since we lack sufficient time to brief everyone on the situation, I believe this to be our best option.
Alexiel: Understood. We will bring as little attention to ourselves as possible.
Alexiel: While Europa and Grimnir are resting, we will discuss our future strategy. Do you have any objections, (Captain)?
(Captain)'s head shakes back and forth in response.
Having reached a decision, the knight leads the crew to his home.

Prayers - Chapter 5: Amulet Unleashed - Episode 1

Back at the research lab, Shiva offers his flame power to Amulet, which briefly restores part of her sanity. She recounts her past, revealing how the citizens of Patmos had accepted her as one of their own. That's why she continued to fight the Astrals: to protect her skydweller friends.

Meanwhile, Shiva returns to the basement of the research laboratory.
Shiva: Hm? I sense a familiar aura... The power of the God of War and Heavenly Maiden?
Murmuring to himself, he stares at the primal beast through the miasma.
Shiva: I believe I understand now. In order to make her body whole once more, she released her limbs from their seals.
Shiva: When we confronted the right arm, it proceeded to steal the God of War's tempest using her power of absorption.
Shiva: Considering even the Heavenly Maiden's power has been taken, the situation seems to be deteriorating further. I must fulfill my task.
Amulet: Grr!
Shiva: It appears you are burning to consume more power. However, I have no intention of antagonizing you.
Amulet: No... No!
Amulet cries out, launching an attack at Shiva.
However, Shiva merely negates the attack with his flames and continues to speak to her.
Shiva: I do not believe that you are fueled by malicious intent.
Shiva: Therefore, I seek the truth. The truth behind the tragedy that befell you and the children of man residing on this island.
Shiva: After having his power taken, it seems the God of War joined with your consciousness, however faintly.
Shiva: I presume it was a transient connection that came from you both sharing the element of wind.
Shiva: Thus, if I offer you a portion of my own power, I may be able to understand what lies within your heart.
Shiva produces a flame in his palm and offers it out through the miasma.
Amulet: ...
Amulet falls momentarily silent before absorbing the power into herself.
The next moment, Shiva finds himself standing in the center of a bustling city.
Shiva: What is this place?
Girl: This is the heart of Patmos Island—the former Kingdom of Patmos...
Girl: And the place I destroyed.
Shiva: You are...
Shiva turns toward the voice to see a young girl clad in white.
Amulet: My name is Amulet. I was created as a primal beast with the power of absorption.
Shiva: I see. So that appearance is the true form you were given?
Amulet: Yes. Your flames hold a mysterious power. Thanks to you, I've regained a little of my past self.
Amulet: So... what is it you want from me?
Shiva: In my estimation, the truth of this island has yet to reveal itself to us.
Shiva: I believe the key lies within you.
Shiva: Therefore, I seek the contents of your heart. Allow me to hear your true wish, which the islanders were unable to perceive.
Shiva: After which, in the name of my salvation, I shall save you without fail.
Amulet: Save me? Really?
Shiva: Yes.
Amulet: My wish... Then let me offer you a glimpse into how I lived my life here in this country.
Amulet: As well as all the sins I committed.
Amulet: I was created within a research laboratory on Patmos Island near the end of the War.
Amulet: My original purpose was to absorb skydweller attacks directed at the Astrals.
Amulet: But just before I awakened, the laboratory was captured by skydwellers, and the Astrals left me here on this island.
Amulet: Normally I'm sure I would have been driven off the island as well, but the people accepted me as an ordinary girl.
Amulet: That kind gesture made me unspeakably happy. So I decided to use my power for their sakes.
Amulet: Whew, I think we managed to stave them off. I don't sense the presence of any more primal beasts near the island.
Amulet: Is everyone okay?
Royal Knight: Yes, no issues here! What about you?
Royal Mage: You seemed to have no trouble absorbing the magical attacks, but that primal beast got up close and personal for a moment, didn't it?
Royal Mage: If you have any wounds, would you like me to cast a healing spell?
Amulet: Don't worry. My injuries are minor enough that they'll heal just fine on their own.
Royal Knight: Haha, that's our Amulet! We can always depend on you.
Royal Mage: Yes, thank you for always protecting us.
Royal Knight: Please keep up the good work. And we will too, naturally! We can't have you showing us up!
Amulet: Of course, you can count on me. I won't let anything hurt you, no matter what it takes!
Child: Amulet! You're eating at my house today!
Child: We're having stew! I helped my mom make it!
Amulet: Thanks for the offer, but weren't your family's fields burned up just the other day?
Amulet: I'm sure you don't have enough food lying around to prepare an extra meal, so don't worry about me—
Mother: What are you talking about, Amulet! No one in this entire country puts in as much effort as you, so don't be so reserved!
Mother: Besides, half of our fields are safe because you worked so hard to defend against the attack.
Mother: Thanks to you, we were able to harvest plenty of crops! So you can eat with pride, knowing you earned it!
Child: Can we go now? The stew's gonna get cold! Come on, Amulet!
Amulet: Well... okay! Sure, I'm coming!
Amulet: They treated me not as a weapon, but as a fellow citizen fighting by their side.
Amulet: Having been abandoned by the Astrals and losing my purpose, my heart was saved by their warmth.
Shiva: I see. So you fought with the prayers of the children of man at your back.
Shiva: Prayer from the heart produces great power. Your strength must have been supported by the prayers of the people as well.
Amulet: Yes, I thought I could fight for the sake of the islanders forever.
Amulet: But little by little, I...
Amulet trails off, her expression clouded.
Noticing the change, Shiva watches silently as the scenes from her memories shift.

Prayers - Chapter 5: Amulet Unleashed - Episode 2

Amulet's retelling of the past continues. The constant enemy attacks absorbed by Amulet began to distort her body. However, her desire to protect the people outweighed the dangers of prolonged fighting. Years later, after the War ended, Amulet couldn't contain the absorbed energy any longer, resulting in a catastrophic disaster. As Amulet's flashback ends, she pleads for someone to stop her, and Shiva promises to do so.

Amulet had continued to absorb the attacks of both Astrals and primal beasts for the people of the Kingdom of Patmos.
However, something strange had been gradually happening to her body.
Amulet: (It's odd... The power I've absorbed refuses to disappear. It just keeps swirling inside me.)
Amulet: (If it keeps building up like this, will it eventually overflow?)
Royal Mage: Goodness, Amulet. You look rather pale.
Royal Mage: Are you feeling worn out from all the fighting?
Royal Knight: What? We can't have that! You had better get some rest before you collapse.
Amulet: B-but...
Royal Knight: Haha, not to worry. We can handle things if you need to recharge!
Royal Knight: We'll do everything we can to protect the country while you're out of commission!
Royal Mage: That's right. And proper rest is necessary for victory as well, you know.
Amulet: I appreciate the thought, but you really don't need to worry about me.
Amulet: More importantly, be careful. I can sense more primal beasts approaching the island.
Royal Knight: What! Really?
Everyone! To your stations!
Royal Mage: They'll need me to provide logistical support as well. Amulet, make sure not to push yourself too hard, all right?
Amulet: Okay! You take care of yourself too!
Amulet: (I'd be fine with resting if my natural regeneration capabilities could fix this. But I have a feeling that's not the case.)
Amulet: (I could leave the front lines until I come up with a solution, but I have no idea how long that might take.)
Amulet: (I don't really even know how my body works... and what if everyone were attacked in the meantime?)
Amulet: (I'll be fine. I just need to hold out until the War is over. I can do that, I know it.)
Amulet: (I can tough it out, if it means protecting everyone!)
Amulet: And so I continued to absorb countless attacks. Violent strikes from primal beasts, magic spells from Astrals—all of it.
Amulet: Years later, the War finally came to an end. The Astrals departed from the skies, and peace returned to the land.
Royal Knight: Thank you, Amulet! I hate to think what would have happened to us without you!
Royal Mage: We've got to do all we can do rebuild our poor, war-torn country. Now's the time for us to buckle down!
Mother: Amulet, if you have nowhere else to go, why don't you come live with us? I'm sure my boy would be delighted!
Amulet: I'm... sorry...
Don't...
Child: ...?
Amulet?
Amulet: Don't... come near... me!
Amulet: By that time, my body had reached its limit.
Amulet: The power I had absorbed during the War began to overflow, discharging energy indiscriminately.
Amulet: It destabilized the surrounding elements, withered the land, burned the forests, and caused tremendous damage to the kingdom.
Royal Knight: What is the meaning of this, Amulet! Why are you trying to destroy our country after going so far to protect it?
Amulet: It's not me! It's not me! I hate this!
Royal Mage: The capital is under siege! If we don't do something, we'll be wiped out!
Amulet: Graaah!
Royal Knight: At this point, she's no different from the Astrals and their beasts that attacked our country...
Royal Knight: It can't be... Is Amulet betraying us?
Child: No way! She'd never do such an awful thing!
Child: Come on, Amulet! Listen to me—
Royal Knight: ...!
Get back! It's not safe!
Child: Aaahh!
Mother: Aah!
Child: ...
Mother: I can't stop the bleeding... Darling, please answer me...
Mother: Why, Amulet? Why are you doing this?
Royal Knight: It seems we have no choice but to accept the truth.
Royal Knight: Our friend Amulet is no more. That... that thing over there is nothing but a monster that must be slain!
Amulet: (No! I don't want this!)
Amulet: (Stop me! Don't let me attack anyone else...)
Amulet: I continued to lay waste to the land. I obliterated the knights who came to defeat me and ravaged the magnificent castle to the ground.
Amulet: There was nothing I could do. But the moment my strength waned enough, I succeeded in tearing myself limb from limb.
Amulet: I thought that by doing so, they'd be able to band together and seal me away...
Royal Mage: Look! Amulet couldn't withstand her own power and self-destructed!
Royal Knight: Yes, she's finally immobilized! Hurry and seal her while we have the chance!
Royal Mage: Right!
Mages, forward!
Royal Mage: We'll seal away the beast even if it costs us our lives!
Amulet: (I'm so sorry... for everything... Thank you... for sealing me away...)
Amulet: (I hope now... everyone will be... safe.)
Royal Mage: Thank goodness it worked. The rest is in... your hands...
Royal Knight: Hey, pull yourself together!
Royal Knight: Damn it! This is all because of that cursed primal beast...
Royal Knight: And it's our fault for being foolish enough to think we could actually be friends with a weapon!
Amulet: Ahh, the pain... I was supposed to be sealed...
Amulet: I don't want to hurt anyone... but I can't... control my body...
Amulet: Somebody, please...
Shiva: ...!
Shiva: It appears I have been returned to the laboratory.
Shiva heaves a great sigh and gazes at Amulet through the miasma.
Shiva: But I have heard your final words to me—your true wish...
Amulet: (Stop... me...)
Shiva: If your heart seeks salvation, my apocalyptic fire shall purify it without fail.
Shiva gazes at the dark mass writhing in the darkness.
The miasma pulsates, as though echoing Amulet's anguished breathing.

Prayers - Chapter 5: Amulet Unleashed - Episode 3

While resting at the knight's home, the knight's daughter prays for Europa to feel better. As a result, Europa senses that some of her water power has come back. Shiva returns with a plan to save Amulet. According to him, they must release the seals on the remaining limbs and gather prayers from everyone on Patmos Island.

Lyria: Tiamat, Leviathan, please lend me your power!
Lyria tests to see if it might be possible to restore the disciples' stolen elemental power using the primal beasts within her.
But perhaps because the fundamental principles were different to begin with, neither Europa nor Grimnir see any effect.
Lyria: Urgh... I'm so sorry I couldn't help...
Grimnir: Aw, don't make that face! It'll all be okay! I'm sure we'll be back to our old selves once we teach that primal beast a lesson!
Europa: Yes, let's have faith.
Europa: Besides, it's an honor to receive treatment like this from (Captain).
Grimnir gazes enviously at Europa, who looks positively ecstatic.
Grimnir: Hey, (Captain)!
If you want... I'll let you wrap up... yours truly?
Vyrn: What're you talkin' about? I mean, you're definitely not a hundred percent, but it's not like you're injured, right?
Grimnir: Hahaha! You got me!
As (Captain) and company are enjoying the brief respite together, they receive an unexpected visit from the knight's daughter.
Knight's Daughter: Um...
Lyria: Yes? Can we help you?
Knight's Daughter: Here, this soup is for you guys.
Grimnir: Wait, really? Thanks!
Europa: For... us?
Knight's Daughter: You looked really pale, so I asked my mom to make some soup to warm you up.
Knight's Daughter: I promise it's really yummy.
Looking into the girl's wide, innocent eyes, Europa is thoroughly confused.
Europa: You aren't afraid of us?
Europa: As a resident of this country, you must have been taught that primal beasts are meant to be despised...
Knight's Daughter: Yeah, I've always been told that primal beasts are super scary...
Knight's Daughter: But you're the ones who saved my dad's life, right?
Knight's Daughter: Do scary monsters who destroy countries go around saving people? Doesn't make sense.
Knight's Daughter: So I thought it'd be nice to be friends with you guys.
Europa: (Such sincerity in her words... I wonder if the people who attempted to befriend Amulet approached her like this.)
Europa: (I don't want to think that those beautiful and honest feelings were a mistake...)
Europa: Thank you very much. It looks delicious.
So saying, Europa slowly takes a sip of the soup.
Europa: My, this is delicious.
Knight's Daughter: Yay, I'm glad you like it! My mom always makes this soup for me when I have a cold!
Knight's Daughter: I hope you feel better soon too...
The girl quietly closes her eyes and offers a prayer for Europa.
Europa: You would pray... for me?
Knight's Daughter: Yeah! My mom always does this for me when I'm sick too.
Knight's Daughter: It works crazy good! So I know you'll feel better again soon!
The girl beams at Europa.
Upon seeing her smile, Europa gets the strange sense that the water elements have returned to her, if only a trickle.
Europa: ...?
Alexiel: Is something the matter?
Europa: No, please don't mind me...
Shiva's Voice: My adherent...
Lyria: Shiva! Did you find out something from the lab?
Shiva: Yes. I was able to communicate with the primal beast sealed within this land.
Shiva: The scenes I witnessed differed somewhat from the account recorded in the research journal.
Shiva: The primal beast desperately resisted her inherent impulses for the sake of the children of man... and even severed her own limbs.
Shiva: However, those impulses did not dissipate. She continues to be tormented by them, as well as her own regrets.
Shiva: Hence the primal beast pleaded with me to save her.
Shiva: Having been asked for salvation, it is my calling, as well as my obligation, to grant that wish.
Shiva: However, to that end, it will be necessary to restore the sealed limbs to their proper place and purify everything at once.
Shiva: The two arms that I presume were defeated have already returned to her.
Shiva: In other words, her severed limbs seem to naturally reunite with the main body.
Shiva: My adherent. Release all of the remaining seals.
Shiva: Then, once the primal beast has become whole once more, I shall grant her salvation.
(Captain) asks Shiva how he plans to save her.
Shiva: Use the Shanti I bestowed upon you as an intermediary, and gather the prayers of the children of man who reside in this land.
Shiva: The impurity born from the long-distorted seal cannot be purged by my apocalyptic fire alone.
Shiva: However, if the children of man truly pray for the salvation of the primal beast, such radiance can expel any darkness.
Shiva: That is the only way to rid this land of the disasters that plague it.
With this final word, Shiva returns to the research laboratory via his flames.
Alexiel: Salvation...
Alexiel: I have no idea as to the discussion that took place between them, but it must have been a solemn affair.
Alexiel: So let us heed Shiva's words and release the remaining seals.
Europa: Then we will gather prayers from the people of this land.
Having decided upon their next course of action, (Captain) and the crew prepare to move out.

Prayers - Chapter 5: Amulet Unleashed - Episode 4

In order to purify Amulet, she needs to be reunited with her limbs. The knights strongly object, but Europa's gentle reasoning assuages them. Tasks are divvied up, with (Captain) in charge of evacuating islanders to the castle to minimize casualties.

Knight: Wait, please!
Knight: You intend to break the seals that our ancestors risked their lives to place? That's pure madness!
Europa: If that were the full story, it would certainly be madness. However...
Europa: Shiva said that it is necessary to return the primal beast to her complete form in order to purify her fully.
Europa: That is our best chance at subduing her.
Knight: ...
Mage: Then, well... what's wrong with just sealing her again instead of going through all this trouble to purify her!
Europa: I understand how you feel.
Europa: However, if we continue to avoid facing the primal beast by simply sealing her time and again, this land will never know peace.
Europa: That is precisely why we wish to end it all now, by our own hand.
Mage: ...
Europa: (Mortals and primal beasts have completely different ways of approaching these things. I doubt I can make them understand.)
Europa: (No, what am I saying?)
Gabriel: In order to fully understand mortals, it's important to not only study their culture, ideology, and lifestyle, but to interact with them as well.
Europa: Interact?
Gabriel: Yes. Try speaking with them. It's one of the best ways to grasp how they think and feel.
Europa: (I shouldn't be so quick to concede defeat.)
Europa: I believe the two of you witnessed us fighting previously.
Europa: We may be strangers, and primal beasts on top of that, but our desire to protect the people of this country is as strong as yours.
Europa: Considering this island's painful past, we won't ask you to believe everything we say.
Europa: But would you be willing to accept the truth that we wish to save this country?
Knight's Daughter: I believe you! After all, my dad's safe because of you guys!
Europa: ...!
Knight: Yes... She's right.
Knight: I would be lying if I claimed to have rid myself of my fear of primal beasts. However...
Knight: At the very least, I will put my faith in you who have saved us many times over.
Mage: If it's really the only way... I suppose I don't have much of a choice.
Europa: Thank you very much for your understanding.
Knight: No, if anything, it is we who should be grateful.
Alexiel: The power amassed within Amulet is mighty enough to shake the island itself.
Alexiel: Thus the ensuing battle could cause immense damage to the entirety of the island.
Alexiel: In order to minimize the damage, we must evacuate the citizens of Patmos to a secure location.
Johann: The sturdiest place here is... the castle!
Johann: If we can assemble everyone in one location, it will be that much easier to protect them.
Alexiel: Exactly. Even if she should attempt to destroy the castle, it will be safe under my shield.
Vyrn: Heh, now that's what I call reassuring!
Alexiel: Then let us go to the king and request permission for the citizens to take refuge within his walls.
Knight: If he agrees, we will persuade the townspeople to evacuate as soon as possible.
Lyria: That would be a big help! The rest of us will all split up and guide the townspeople to safety!
Alexiel: Will you be able to assist them, Europa?
Europa: Yes, I will open my heart and soul to those who distrust us.
Europa: After all, if talking with them can clear up their misconceptions about primal beasts, that might help us gather prayers.
Vyrn: Heh! Yeah, I think so too!
Grimnir: In that case, I'll check the remaining shrines and make sure the rest of the seals have broken!
Grimnir: And if not, I'll use the power of my typhoon to destroy them myself!
Lyria: But Grimnir, you haven't regained your strength yet! You shouldn't push yourself!
Grimnir: Don't worry, Girl in Blue! I won't be fighting anything—just checking the seals!
Grimnir: On that note, good luck on your end!
Alexiel: Wait, Grimnir!
Seemingly oblivious to Alexiel's call, Grimnir flies off into the distance like a whirlwind.
Vyrn: Hey, uh... Does Windy even know where the other shrines are?
Johann: No... I don't believe he does...
Grimnir: Gyaaah! And here I was trying to be cool!
Lyria: Oh, he's back!
Grimnir: I forgot I can only vaguely tell where the sealing shrines are!
Johann: I thought as much.
Grimnir: So on that note, you're coming with me, Johann!
Johann: Eh?
Johann: Bwaaah!
Without skipping a beat, Grimnir wedges Johann under his arm and soars off again.

Prayers - Chapter 6: Light of Salvation - Episode 1

While the islanders are evacuating to the castle, Amulet regains all her limbs and now seeks to absorb earth power to balance out the other three elements she has already stolen. Alexiel knows this and meets Amulet's assault. It's her duty to defend the castle until the prayers are ready.

Alexiel: The gates have been opened. Everyone, to the castle! Take refuge there!
Townsperson 3: Hey! What's going to happen to our country? To us?
Alexiel: Never fear, good citizen of Patmos. We will surely protect this land!
Townsperson 3: Are you a primal beast?
Alexiel: Yes, I am. That being said, I am on your side.
Townsperson 3: Easy for you to say...
Seeing the evacuees' anxious expressions, the knights call out to rouse their spirits.
Knight: We, the royal knights, owe our lives to these individuals!
Mage: This town could easily get caught up in the fighting, so please make your way to the castle!
Alexiel: Thank you, everyone. Your help is greatly appreciated!
With the assistance of the royal knights, the evacuation to the castle proceeds smoothly.

Alexiel scans the area to see (Captain), Europa, and the others approaching, joined by a large crowd of people.
Djeeta is the Main Character

Alexiel scans the area to see (Captain), Europa, and the others approaching, joined by a large crowd of people.
Alexiel: Very good! If things continue as they are, all the citizens will soon be safe.
Alexiel: The rest is in your hands, Grimnir!
Grimnir: Ooh, I found a seal that's still intact! Time to smash it to pieces!
Grimnir: ...
Johann: I'll use my magic to support you to the best of my ability!
Grimnir: Thanks! I'm counting on you, Johann!
Grimnir begins to focus, attempting to gather every ounce of his cyclonic power.
Grimnir: G-gh... Gaaah! My right arm which commands the winds throbs like a dragon's heart... With this, the caliginous, stagnant miasma shall—
Johann: Wait, wait, wait!
Grimnir: Aw, why'd you interrupt me! I was just getting to the good part!
Johann: That's all well and good, but I have no idea when you want me to cast my spell!
Grimnir: Whoops, sorry! Then let's just go on three!
Johann: All right!
Grimnir: One, two...
Both: Three!
The area is immediately flooded with a thick miasma. After confirming the figure writhing in its depths, Grimnir leaps into the sky.
Grimnir: Right leg of the primal beast Amulet... Although it pains me to flee with you in my sights, this too is a strategic retreat!
Grimnir: C'mon, Johann! We're getting out of here!
Johann: Right!
Grimnir lifts Johann once more and flies off in the direction of the castle.
Shiva: ...
Amulet: Uwooh...
Hearing the groans of Amulet, Shiva understands that the time has arrived.
Shiva: Finally you awaken from your long slumber, primal beast Amulet.
Amulet: U-uaaagh... Aaahh!
Shiva: I can see the power of the tetra-elements you have absorbed swirling and storming in your depths. You must be in great pain.
From within the twisting miasma, the primal beast Amulet emerges.
There is no trace of the girl who had spoken with Shiva, but a deformed figure who has absorbed all manner of power and malice.
Amulet: Aah... Why... Stop, stop it, stop meee!
Shiva calmly evades the slash of wind unleashed by the primal beast, carefully maintaining his distance.
Shiva: Have patience. I will surely grant you salvation.
Amulet: ...
Shiva: Hm?
Amulet trembles slightly before suddenly fading into the air, disappearing from sight.
Shiva: ...
Shiva: Divine Protector...
Alexiel: What happened to Amulet?
Shiva: She should be heading here from the research laboratory at this very moment.
Shiva: My apocalyptic fire, the God of War's tempest, and the Heavenly Maiden's pure water...
Shiva: By absorbing them, the tetra-elements within her have become severely unbalanced, and she is now acting out of desperation.
Shiva: Operating on instinct to restore the balance, she is sure to appear here in search of the stable earth element of the Divine Protector.
Shiva: To put it in the terms of the children of man, she is seeking something akin to a medicine to clear her bowels.
Alexiel: Hm, medicine to clear the bowels... A rather crude expression, but I believe I understand.
Alexiel: Furthermore, if I am Amulet's target, that makes it all the more convenient.
Alexiel: I will hold her here and buy as much time as I can.
Vyrn: We're countin' on ya, Alexiel!
Alexiel: Of course! Leave it to me!
Shiva: Then I shall gather my power in order to bring true salvation to the primal beast.
As Shiva disappears, Alexiel turns to address (Captain) and Europa.
Alexiel: In the meantime, could I ask you to work with the people to deliver prayers to Shiva?
Uriel: All right, listen up. You have mirror-blades that can be used both offensively and defensively.
Alexiel: (Master Uriel... I have not forgotten the lesson you taught me!)
Alexiel: Now, (Captain)! Make your way to the castle. This is to be my battleground!
Lyria: Okay! Please be careful!
After ensuring (Captain) and the crew have departed for the castle, Alexiel glowers at the dark clouds extending overhead.
The trickling rain gradually grows heavier, eventually transforming into a violent storm.
Alexiel: So you have come.
Alexiel: If you desire my power, you will have to take it by force.
Alexiel: Mirror-Blade Eruption!
Alexiel tightens her grip on the hilt of her blade in the face of the steadily approaching primal beast Amulet.

Prayers - Chapter 6: Light of Salvation - Episode 2

As the primal beast battle wages on outside the castle, (Captain) and company ask the islanders to pray for Amulet's salvation, but the acrimony toward Amulet for nearly destroying Patmos in the past seems too deep-seated to overcome. That's when Shiva arrives to set the record straight.

Having faded into the surrounding air to conceal her presence, Amulet watches Alexiel closely, waiting for an opportunity to strike.
Alexiel focuses intently so as not to miss even the slightest movement of her mirror-blades.
Alexiel: ...
Amulet: ...
Suddenly, out of the stillness, one of the blades quivers ever so slightly.
Alexiel: From the right!
Amulet: Graaah!
Alexiel: None shall trespass upon the castle!
Amulet: Graaah! Go awaaay!
Alexiel: Be felled by my celestial blade!
Just as Alexiel swings her greatsword, Amulet vanishes once more, causing the blade to slice harmlessly through the air.
Alexiel: She concealed herself again. However...
Alexiel: Once you have stepped within the bounds of my mirror-blades, there is no hope of escape!
The deployed mirror-blades detect the presence of the primal beast and continue to track her.
Alexiel: There!
Amulet: Graaah...
Alexiel: Vanish and flee as many times as you like. Each time you do, my mirror-blades will find and intercept you.
Amulet: Aah... Aaahh!
Amulet fades into the surrounding air once more, as though hoping to observe Alexiel from a safe vantage point.
Alexiel: You never learn...
Alexiel: ...
Alexiel: I will not let you escape! Mirror-Blade Helix!
Amulet: ...!
Alexiel: Hmm, was a trace amount of my earth power absorbed?
Alexiel: Well, no matter. Though I may not be able to defeat you, my true goal is merely to hold you off.
The evacuees inside the castle tremble as they listen to the thundering roars echoing outside.
Vyrn: How are we supposed to gather prayers in this situation?
Europa: Our only option is to personally request for each and every individual to pray for the salvation of the primal beast.
Lyria: Yeah! Let's do everything we can!
(Captain) and company petition the evacuees, but the people's animosity toward Amulet makes them reluctant to comply.
Lyria: Please! We need everyone's power in order to save Amulet!
Europa: Simply destroying the primal beast who threatens this land will not bring her salvation.
Europa: So please... Will you pray for her?
Townsperson 3: We heard from the king and his knights that you all are primal beasts trying to protect this country.
Townsperson 3: But isn't that thing rampaging outside some crazed primal that's trying to destroy us?
Townsperson 3: And you want us to save it? Why should we do a thing like that?
Townsperson 4: Yeah! If you all would just defeat it, peace would come back to the island, right?
Europa: ...
Lyria: Shiva!
Shiva: You appear to be at a loss, my adherent.
Shiva: I have manifested in order to inform them of the truth that we have learned.
Shiva then turns to the people who had been laying bare their suspicion.
Shiva: Children of man, your anger is perfectly understandable.
Shiva: However, it is born of a misguided history.
Shiva: The one you refer to as a crazed primal beast was originally a peaceful being with the power of absorption.
Shiva: However, there is a limit to all things. As a result of fighting for years on end, the power she absorbed exceeded her capacity.
Shiva: Even so, she continued to absorb every incoming attack, causing her power to overflow and devastate the country and its citizens alike.
Shiva: However, using what little reason she retained, she severed her own limbs and wished for the people to seal her away.
Townsperson 3: That's ridiculous. It's nothing like the story we know...
Townsperson 4: Don't be fooled! They're primal beasts too!
Townsperson 4: They're probably just lying so they can use us for their own nefarious purposes!
Shiva: It is only natural that you should feel this way.
Shiva: Regardless of what primal beast Amulet may have felt as she rained down destruction...
Shiva: The fact remains that she came close to obliterating this country as a result of not understanding her own limits.
Shiva: Tearing off her own limbs and allowing herself to be sealed away does not absolve her of the pain she caused.
Shiva: Therefore, if you do not wish to grant her wish for salvation, then so be it.
Shiva: I shall do everything in my power to save her myself.
Shiva: Through the cycle of destruction and rebirth, I bring salvation to all beings equally. That is my mission.
With this final word, Shiva prepares to unleash his power of salvation alone.
Townspeople: ...
The islanders watch him in silence, overcome with doubts.

Prayers - Chapter 6: Light of Salvation - Episode 3

Amulet leaves her battle with Alexiel to attack a few islanders who haven't evacuated yet. Grimnir saves them just in time and, when asked, explains why: Despite fighting for the Astrals during the War, he befriended a young skydweller boy. Their friendship helped him to reevaluate his motivations, and he decided to use his power to protect the weak. Amulet flees instead of fighting Grimnir.

Outside the castle, the primal beast Amulet continues her rampage.
Amulet: Grr... Graaah!
Alexiel: Whew... You certainly are putting up a good fight absorbing the earth elements I possess.
Alexiel: However, you will not pass!
  1. I'm here to help!
  2. Let me join you.

Choose: I'm here to help!
Alexiel: (Captain)! If you're here, I take it everyone has evacuated?
The captain informs Alexiel of the situation in the castle.
Alexiel: I see. As I thought, persuading them is proving difficult...
Alexiel: Then let us concentrate on defending the castle in order to reward our companions for their endeavors.

Choose: Let me join you.
(Captain) informs Alexiel that Shiva is preparing to use his power.
Alexiel: I see. So the hearts of the people remain unyielding.
Alexiel: But I have faith. I am sure that my companions will find a way to save Amulet.
Alexiel: Until their efforts bear fruit, I shall not allow you to leave this place, Amulet!

Amulet: The pain... The paaain...
(Captain) and Alexiel fend off Amulet's attacks one after another.
Just as (Captain) thinks they might be able to hold her off until preparations at the castle are complete...
Alexiel: What! Her presence has dissipated?
Alexiel: Judging from my mirror-blades, she doesn't seem to have entered the castle. But then where could she have gone?
Townsperson 1: Gramps, thank the skies! I was worried sick when I heard you weren't in line to evacuate.
Townsperson 2: I'm sorry. I didn't want to slow down the others trying to move to safety.
Townsperson 2: You should leave me behind and take refuge as soon as possible.
Townsperson 1: I can't do that! Besides, evacuating's been slow going for me too, since I've got the little ones in tow...
Townsperson 1: Word has it the primals are fighting in front of the castle, so it's probably not safe to go there now. I'm honestly not sure what to do.
Townsperson 2: I see. In that case, perhaps we should just hide in my basement until things calm down—
Amulet: Grah... Aaahh!
Townsperson 1: E-eep! Gramps, take the kids and get downstairs!
Townsperson 1: I-I'll do what I can to hold it off—
Amulet: Run... You must... run...
Townsperson 1: Wh-what is it blabbering about...
The winds around Amulet begin to swirl as she sets her sights on the man.
Grimnir: Not on my watch!
Grimnir: Are you guys okay?
Townsperson 1: Yes, we're fi—
...!
Townsperson 1: Wait, you're one of those primal beasts! Why are you here?
Grimnir: Isn't it obvious? I spotted someone courageously standing up to that primal beast, so I came to help!
Johann: We mortals aren't really built to confront a primal beast, you know.
Johann: Er, Grimnir, is your body holding up all right?
Grimnir: Yep!
Wait... Johann! Worry about the children of man, not me!
Johann: Right! The rest is up to you!
Grimnir: I've got this! The God of War Grrrrrimnir will show her who's boss!
Townsperson 1: But why? After all the horrible things we've done to you and your friends...
Grimnir: Hah. The God of War extends his protection to all children of man. That in itself is reason enough.
Grimnir: And besides, your kids would be heartbroken if you died, right?
Grimnir: I... I made a promise to myself! That I'd never let a child be orphaned before my eyes ever again.
Within a small village in the midst of the War...
Grimnir: Hey! I finished reading that book you lent me!
Village Youth: Oh, you're back! Wow, didn't I just give it to you yesterday? You sure read fast!
Grimnir: Yeah, that Nietzel's poetry is pretty interesting! There's something so... deep about it!
Village Youth: Ahaha, did you actually understand what you were reading?
Grimnir: H-hey, of course I did! C'mon, give me a little credit!
Grimnir: But, I mean... I guess the wording was kind of hard to understand...
Grimnir: However, the hero residing within my soul will never allow me to surrender!
Village Youth: Hehe, that's a line from the book! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Village Youth: I don't really get the chance to talk about books with the other kids in the village, so I'm lucky I met you.
Grimnir: Huh? Really? I just assumed all children of man read crazy hard books from a young age!
Grimnir: Wait, that must mean you're super smart!
Village Youth: E-ehehe... I dunno about that...
Grimnir: After all, you children of man usually learn a lot from your "parents," right?
Grimnir: But you've been studying all by yourself since you were little.
Grimnir: Oh, I know! Is that just your parents' "teaching style" or whatever?
Village Youth: No, that's not it. My mom and dad were killed by the Astrals in the War.
Grimnir: Huh?
Village Youth: Oh, don't worry about me! Everyone in the village is really nice, and it's not like I can't find ways to feed myself just because I'm a kid.
Grimnir: R-really?
Grimnir: In that case... Yeah, that's good. Wait, I mean, it's obviously not good, but...
Village Youth: Whoa, hold on! What are you getting all depressed for!
Grimnir: Ah, sorry! I'm really sorry!
Grimnir: But it must be really hard living on your own as a child, right?
Village Youth: That doesn't mean I have time to mope around. I need to study lots so I can grow up as soon as possible.
Village Youth: I'll work hard to become someone big and important, and then I'll figure out a way that we won't have to fight wars anymore.
Village Youth: I want to make the world a place where kids won't have to lose their parents, like me and my brother and sister did.
Grimnir: I see... You're really kind, and strong on top of that. The complete opposite from me.
Village Youth: Are you sure about that? I think you're plenty kind yourself...
Village Youth: And besides, you're so strong that you're called the "God of War," right?
Village Youth: I bet you'd be able to make more people happier than I ever could!
Grimnir: Guess you're right. I'm strong too, so I can't let you outdo me!
Grimnir: Some time later, I had to leave that land behind.
Grimnir: The boy gave me one of his favorite books before I left. But I...
Grimnir: I couldn't bring myself to tell him the truth. That I fought alongside the Astrals in the War.
Grimnir: And that I might have been the one who killed his parents...
Grimnir: I didn't have any regrets about fulfilling my role... but it did make me start wondering if I was really in the right or not.
Grimnir: So I made up my mind. I'll only wield my tempest to protect the weak!
Grimnir: And now, that time has come!
Grimnir: Primal beast Amulet... Bow before my tempest!
Grimnir: And you, children of man—take your family by the hand and flee to the castle as fast as you can!
Grimnir: The protection of the God of War Grimnir shall be with you on your journey!
Townsperson 1: R-right! Thanks!
Townsperson 1: I'm sorry for saying such awful things. Thank you for protecting us, God of War!
Townsperson 2: We'll make sure to survive so your efforts don't go to waste!
Child 1: Woohoo! You can do it, Mr. God of War!
Grimnir: Heh. Those words are the best tailwind I could ask for!
Grimnir: Come, primal beast Amulet! My tempest shall drive you to the far reaches of the sky!
Grimnir: Behold! A devastating blow to pierce all creation is manifested here and now!
Grimnir: Haaah!
Amulet: ...!
Grimnir's tremendous cyclonic power pierces through Amulet, inflicting a critical wound.
Grimnir: Heh-heh! Piece of cake!
Johann: ...
Amulet: G-ggghh...
With an agonized moan, Amulet dissolves into the air.
Grimnir: Dang it! Where'd she run off to!
Grimnir: ...!
That way!
Grimnir: Johann! I'm gonna go meet up with (Captain) and the others! You show the children of man the way!
Johann: Um... Grimnir!
Grimnir: Huh? What's up?
Johann: Considering you were able to inflict such a grave injury on Amulet, could it be that your power of wind has returned?
Grimnir: Hm? Well, now that you mention it... Yeah, you're right. Feels like I'm back to my old self!
Johann: Thank goodness! Take care of yourself, Grimnir!
Grimnir: Yeah, you too!
Grimnir: Now then... the God of War must take his leave!
Leaving Johann to guide the evacuees, Grimnir flies like a great gale to join (Captain) and company.

Prayers - Chapter 6: Light of Salvation - Episode 4

Amulet reappears in the skies above the castle and rains down fire. Finally grasping that the primals are here to protect them, something even the children have already figured out, the adults of Patmos at last pray for Amulet. While Shiva accumulates these prayers, the crew must engage Amulet in battle and draw out as much of her power as possible.

Meanwhile, the dense miasma expelled by Amulet begins to spread and swirl in the air above the castle.
Spotting the wound etched into the primal beast at the center of the vortex, Alexiel recognizes it as Grimnir's handiwork.
Alexiel: It seems she clashed with Grimnir before returning.
Alexiel: To think he was able to leave such a deep scar even after having his power taken... The moniker "God of War" is certainly not for show.
Alexiel: Now, Amulet. Let us face one other in battle once more!
Amulet: Graaah!
The crazed Amulet lets out a deafening roar, calling down a shower of blazing fire.
Flames cover the ground, causing waves of heat to reach even inside the castle.
Child 2: Ungh, it's kinda hot... Did a fire break out?
Europa: At this rate, the castle could burn to the ground.
Europa: O water... Be as a healing salve to the land!
In response to Europa's plea, water pools around her before being released outside the castle.
However, her tide fizzles when it crashes into the approaching flames.
Vyrn: Huh? Kinda feels like her water has less oomph than usual...
Lyria: It must be because her power is being absorbed!
Lyria: I'll help you!
Come out, Leviathan!
Leviathan: ...!
Europa: Thank you for your assistance, Lyria. I must say, this is rather vexing...
Beads of sweat appear on Europa's forehead as she struggles to maintain her power.
Seeing this, the knight's daughter hurries over to wipe it away.
Europa: My... Thank you very much. That feels much better.
Knight's Daughter: I know it's not much, but I've decided I want to do whatever I can.
Knight's Daughter: So I'm staying here to help! Hang in there!
Child 2: Yeah, the least we can do is cheer them on.
Child 2: You can do it!
Child 3: Please save everyone!
Europa: Goodness... Yes, of course. We won't allow the lives of the people to be threatened any longer.
Europa: Let everything be washed away!
Child 2: Wow, I don't believe it! The fire's all gone!
Child 3: You're amazing, Europa!
Europa: Whew...
As the children applaud Europa, the nearby adults exchange looks of bewilderment.
Townsperson 3: Those primals are putting themselves in danger to protect us... Is this really how we should be acting?
Townsperson 3: Maybe we ought to be taking a cue from the kids.
Townsperson 4: You're right! They're fighting so hard for our sake...
Mage: It would be in bad faith for us to keep expecting them to betray us after all they've done...
Mage: We have to help them!
Europa's eyes widen in surprise at their words.
Europa: (The people have come around and are willing to work with us... Ah, what a beautiful sight.)
Europa: (Gabriel... I finally understand.)
Europa: (Mortals are weak and fragile beings who are deeply fearful of anything that exceeds their comprehension.)
Europa: (But despite this, they face their mistakes head-on and strive to do what's right.)
Europa: (All of those facets together are beautiful... That is what you wished to tell me.)
Europa: (From now on, I will do my utmost to consider their feelings and work to bridge the divide between us.)
Europa: (I, Europa, both as a disciple of Gabriel and as an individual primal beast...)
Europa: (I will fight to protect their smiles.)
Europa: Everyone, I implore you once more. Will you offer up your prayers to save Amulet?
Townsperson 3: Of course. If it's not too late, please let us join you.
Townsperson 4: But after all this... how are we even supposed to do that?
Mage: Good question. Even though it was long ago, that doesn't change the fact that we rejected her after she did everything in her power for this country...
Europa: From what Shiva has told us, she deeply regrets allowing the power she absorbed to go out of control...
Europa: As well as taking the lives of so many of this country's people.
Townsperson 3: ...
Europa: If you would pray for her despite her sins...
The townspeople hesitate, taking in Europa's words.
Townsperson 3: It would be wrong of me to claim to know how the people felt back then.
Townsperson 3: But if it were me... If my family or friends had been killed, I'd despise the primal beast that did it and want to see it dead.
Townsperson 3: But that crazed—no, Amulet fought for the people as best she could...
Townsperson 3: And if all that labor is what caused the tragedy, then, well... shouldn't we probably forgive her?
Townsperson 4: Yes... If I'd been there, I might have lost myself to despair or anger...
Townsperson 4: But at the same time, I think I'd regret that I failed to understand what a dear friend was going through.
Townsperson 4: So if we have the chance to help her now...
After sorting through their emotions, the evacuees turn toward Europa, their expressions determined.
Townsperson 3: Let us pray. For Amulet.
Europa: Thank you. Then come, let us all put our respective feelings into prayer together.
Europa: I'm sure they will reach her. After all, I too was saved by the innocent prayer of a child...
Townspeople: Right!
With heads bowed, the people pour their emotions into prayers—prayers that transform into orbs of light and fall gently upon Shiva.
Shiva: Children of man... Your prayers have been heard.
Europa: Are the preparations in order, Shiva?
Shiva: I have almost gathered enough light. Go now, and draw out as much of the primal beast's power as possible.
Europa: Understood.
Lyria, Vyrn, I will make my way to Alexiel's side.
Lyria: Okay! We'll look after Shiva!
Vyrn: As soon as he's ready, we'll head your way! Tell (Captain) to hang in there!
Europa: Yes, I will!
Alexiel: Oh, Europa! What's the status at the castle?
Europa: Shiva will be ready momentarily.
Europa: For now, he would like us to draw out Amulet's power as much as we can.
Alexiel: Very well. Now for the finishing touches—
Grimnir: God of War, at your service!
Grimnir: Hey, looks like everyone's here except Shiva! Thank goodness I made it in time!
Alexiel: Shiva's preparations will be completed soon. Will you join me in making a final stand?
Grimnir: With pleasure! Flames, storms, thunder—all is doomed to dust before my mighty winds!
Europa: I'll join you.
You will too, won't you, (Captain)?
  1. Let's protect everyone.
  2. Let's end all the suffering.

Choose: Let's protect everyone.
Europa: Yes. We can't allow her to hurt the people of this country anymore.

Choose: Let's end all the suffering.
Alexiel: Indeed. This time we will put Amulet to rest!
Continue 1
Alexiel: Primal beast Amulet. This is your final chance to obtain my power!
Alexiel: Come at me with all the strength you can muster!
Amulet: U-ugaah... Raaah!

Prayers - Ending - Episode 1

Once Shiva gathers enough prayers, he floods the area with his purifying light, and Grimnir delivers the final blow to Amulet with his spear aglow. She reverts to her former self and is absorbed within Lyria where she can rest in peace. The disciples release the massive amounts of elemental energy, restoring the island's natural balance and bounty. Patmos's curse has at long last been lifted.

(Captain): ...!
Europa: Not so fast!
Amulet: Ah... Aah... Aaahh!
Amulet lets out a frantic scream and attempts to disappear.
But Alexiel's mirror-blades remain steadfast.
Alexiel: You will not escape! Hyaaah!
Amulet: G-graaah...
(Captain) and company manage to hold Amulet back by the skin of their teeth, all the while refusing to let her flee or perish.
Just as it seems as though they can endure no longer...
Shiva appears before them, surrounded by brilliant orbs of light.
Shiva: I have gathered enough prayers. The time for salvation has come.
Shiva: ...!
The next moment, Shiva's third eye opens, and a dazzling golden light floods the area.
Amulet: Aah... Agraaah!
Grimnir: Primal beast Amulet! By Shiva's brilliant radiance, you shall be given salvation!
Grimnir: In other words...
As Amulet tries to escape, Grimnir envelops her in an enormous cyclone.
Grimnir: Here it comes! Take in plenty of this light... and return to your original form!
Amulet: U-uaagh... Oogh...
Shiva: ...
Lyria: You can do this, Amulet!
Vyrn: Just a little more. Hang in there!
Bathed in the divine light, Amulet falls silent.
But as her twisted form continues to absorb all it can, a thick miasma begins to permeate the area.
Shiva: So you choose to struggle. However, this place that has been showered by my blessed light is now my sanctuary.
Shiva: If you refuse to yield, it seems I have no choice...
Shiva: I shall deliver this light—a light that destroys the root of all evil—directly to your core.
Shiva: It is in your hands, God of War.
Grimnir: Heh... The baton has been passed to me from my dear comrade!
Grimnir: Haaah!
Coating his spear in blessed light, Grimnir pierces through Amulet with all his might.
Grimnir: Now, light that destroys the root of all evil! Shine upon Amulet!
Amulet: A-aah...
Townspeople: Please find peace!
Amulet: ...
Filled with the prayers of the islanders, the blessed light flows through Grimnir's spear.
As it does so, a transformation begins to occur within Amulet.
Amulet: A-aah...
Johann: Everyone! Look at Amulet!
Amulet: ...!
Shiva: ...
Amulet: Ah, my body feels light... and I can hear everyone's voices...
Amulet: I see. Maybe I should have relied on my friends more.
Amulet: I tried to do everything alone, and because of that, I ended up causing nothing but trouble... and I hurt everyone so much.
Amulet: And yet... you still pray for me to be at peace...
Amulet: Thank you... so much... And also, I'm sorry.
Amulet: Ah, I finally got to say it...
Amulet quietly closes her eyes.
Shiva: Girl in Blue. Will you allow her to sleep peacefully within you?
Lyria: Of course!
Amulet: What a warm light...
Lyria: Amulet... Rest well, okay?
Amulet: Right. Tell your friends... I'm grateful...
Lyria: I will!
Lyria: Amulet wanted to thank you all.
Grimnir: Heh, is that so! I gotta say, that's kind of a relief!
Vyrn: This little adventure's been pretty rough. I hope you guys can get some rest too.
Shiva: It is safe to say that the elemental fluctuations plaguing this land have subsided now that she has been saved.
Shiva: Then let our next course of action be to bless Patmos Island in its entirety.
Alexiel: Indeed.
Europa: Yes.
Grimnir: All right, let's do this!
Joining hands, the four primal beasts release their respective elements of fire, wind, earth, and water to their fullest potential.
Primal Beasts: ...
The elements mix with the blessed light born from the people's prayers and shower down upon Patmos Island.
The desolate land becomes rich and fertile...
The cloudy rivers become a source of clear water for aquatic life...
And the forests that had withered away become lush and green once more.
Gabriel: Hehe, you truly outdid yourself, Europa. I'm so proud.
Gabriel: See, Sandy? Didn't I tell you they'd be fine?
Sandalphon can only nod.
Sandalphon: Yes, I expected no less from (Captain)'s crew. It seems there was no need for us to have a contingency plan.
Uriel: Looks like Alexiel's expanded her fighting style quite a bit.
Uriel: She took what I taught her and made good use of it under the singularity. That's a disciple of Uriel for you!
Raphael: Indeed. And the assistance of Shiva and Grimnir proved crucial as well.
Raphael: That being said... my disciple certainly acts as he pleases. For the time being, I shall allow him to enjoy his freedom.
Michael: Yes, and I have become all the more intrigued by that power of apocalyptic fire. It bears further observation.
Sandalphon: It goes without saying that this has proven to be an important test for us as well.
Sandalphon: There will no doubt be countless future threats to the Sky Realm...
Sandalphon: But this world holds the power to overcome them. This matter has taught me that much.
The primarchs nod in agreement.
Their thoughts then turn back to Patmos Island, where peace has at long last returned.
Grimnir: Man, nice job, Shiva! Those lines you used when you saved Amulet were super cool!
Shiva: It is a very pleasant feeling to receive such high praise from you.
Shiva: But did it escape your notice, God of War? The words I spoke were imparted to me by none other than yourself.
Shiva: As I thought, your ability to charm the hearts of the children of man is far greater than my own.
Shiva: Therefore, I would be grateful if you would continue to teach me words that will capture their hearts as well.
Grimnir: Wait, huh? Really? Hehe, I knew you were a good judge of character!
Grimnir: Heh. Since you have made this request of me, it is the duty of the God of War to fulfill it!
Grimnir: Hearken carefully to the words hidden within my heart!
Vyrn: Sheesh. Sounds like Shiva's gonna start talkin' all weird again...
Lyria: Hehe. But it's nice how well they get along!
Knight's Daughter: Because of you guys, my dad and everybody else are all safe! Thanks so much!
Europa: Hehe. It makes me proud to know that we were able to protect everyone.
Europa: Oh, and I haven't had a chance to thank you properly yet.
Europa: Once again, thank you for helping me regain my strength.
Europa: It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that the castle was saved from the fire due to your efforts.
Alexiel: Indeed. We are indebted to you for taking the initiative while everyone else in the country was avoiding us.
Alexiel: You have my thanks as well.
Knight's Daughter: I-I didn't do anything! You're the ones who were working so hard!
Knight's Daughter: And besides, (Captain) and the other skyfarers helped out a lot too!
Europa: Ah, yes. It was truly a privilege to be cared for by you, (Captain).
Europa: If the opportunity presents itself, would you touch my skin again in that same way?
Townsperson 3: Ah, I can't stop staring at her...
Townsperson 4: Lady Europa is too beautiful for words...
Alexiel: Oh dear... I fear if we linger here too long, the people will all fall captive to Europa's charms.
An amused smile graces Alexiel's lips as she watches Europa and (Captain) mingle with the townspeople. More trials may come, but so too will days of fun and discovery.
The End
