What Makes the Sky Blue - Opening

Islands suddenly begin to plummet. As esteemed magnates—including Sierokarte—discuss solutions, a mysterious assailant barges in, bringing chaos with him.

Unsettling rumors abound in the Port Breeze archipelago.
Farmer Woman: Dear? I know you're in the middle of harvesting, but can we talk?
Farmer Man: Sure. Let me guess: it's about that island that fell out of the sky?
Farmer Woman: Yes. It's got me on edge.
Farmer Man: Hah hah hah! Please, it's just a rumor. An island falling only happens once every few centuries!
Farmer Man: So you shouldn't lose sleep over it. Port Breeze is a big, sturdy island.
Farmer Woman: But it's not just one or two people gossiping about it.
Farmer Woman: New rumors pop up all across the skydoms every single day. It wouldn't hurt to have an escape plan ready...
Farmer Man: Exaggerations. All of it. People love telling crazy stories. Besides, where would we even go?
Farmer Woman: Aaah!
Farmer Man: Whoa, Nelly! This is a big quake!
On the island of Fremel, a knight keeps vigil over the citizenry.
Knight: I swear it's true! I saw it with my own two eyes!
Worker: Now hold on a minute. What are you talking about all of a sudden?
Knight: Those rumors that've been going around are true. This island in front of us just started shaking as we flew by.
Knight: Then it crashed straight down like a building losing its supports!
Worker: So you're saying it lost its... ability to float or something?
Worker: I thought it was pretty normal for islands to start sinking over time. Never heard of one just crashing to the bottom though.
Knight: That's what I've been saying! We've got to get the word out and stop this from happening to—
Worker: Wh-what's going on?
Knight: Damn! It's not safe here either!
Over at the Auguste Isles, esteemed magnates have gathered for a round of discussions.
District Chief: Well, it appears most of us are present. Let's begin this emergency session.
District Chief: Thank you all for coming. As you may have already guessed, we're here to discuss the so-called cataclysm rumors.
District Chief: As a neutral third-party, I ask for your cooperation in sharing any information you may have so that we may devise a contingency plan.
Arms Dealer: Just keep it short. We've got important business deals to make.
Wholesale Trader: That's some carefree attitude you got there. Deals aren't going to mean squat if the world comes to an end.
Arms Dealer: Do you actually believe that cataclysm junk?
Retail Mogul: Oh, how audacious. And I suppose a merchant like you is the authority on fact and fiction?
Sierokarte: Now, now, everyone. Let's put aside our differences for a moment while we enjoy a rich cup of coffee.
District Chief: Yes, this isn't the time to be furthering self-interests.
District Chief: This is what we know. The rumors are true. Islands are crashing left and right.
District Chief: Investigators out by the Grim Basin are reporting similar events occurring in other skydoms.
Wholesale Trader: So every inch of the sky is being hit...
Wholesale Trader: According to my intel network, air currents and weather patterns appear normal. All signs point to a loss in island buoyancy.
Retail Mogul: A trusted contact and scholar has informed me that the cataclysms began when the tetra-elements went haywire.
Retail Mogul: Well? I believe it's your turn.
Arms Dealer: Humph. Got no choice I guess.
Arms Dealer: Only small islands have been impacted so far. No casualties have been confirmed, but that probably won't last long.
District Chief: Thank you. I appreciate the vital information.
District Chief: Contact anyone you know in a position to help. We all need to come together if we are to succeed.
Wholesale Trader: Right. I'll get in touch with the execs of each country.
Retail Mogul: I'll warn the people since I'm the consumer point of contact.
Arms Dealer: I guess that leaves me with my connections in the empire. Ugh, it's such a pain talking to them though...
Sierokarte: Then I'll relay today's information to the skyfarers.
District Chief: Excellent. If by any chance you know of a trustworthy crew that can secure evacuation routes, that would help as well.
Sierokarte: Of course. I just need to reach the Grandcy—
???: And what if those people were the cause of the cataclysms?
District Chief: Huh? We're in the middle of a meeting. Where are the security guards?
???: There's no one else here except for you and me.
Wholesale Trader: What's wrong with you, barging in here and spouting nonsense?
Retail Mogul: Guards! Guards! Oh no... he wasn't lying!
Arms Dealer: Impossible! My bodyguards wouldn't be done in that easily!
???: Hey, could you fetch me a cup of that coffee? Must've lost my invite, but I've got a seat at your little roundtable too.
Sierokarte: Roundtable? Who are you?
???: I'm an archangel; a being that inhabits the void between the skies and the heavens. Or so they say.
???: Bah, what nonsense. That Astral researcher would never understand.
Sierokarte: Archangel? What Astral researcher?
???: Okay, I'm calling this meeting to order. Don't worry! I'll keep it simple.
???: The time for judgment has come. I wanted to do this as quickly as possible.
???: But your meddling would only slow things down. So I’ll just have you watch instead. Those I deem worthy shall be granted a spot in my new world.
???: What do you think?
District Chief: I don't know what you're talking about! What's your angle?
???: I see. Well, I'm glad we had this chat. Virtues, this meeting is over.
Virtue Core: ...
Wholesale Trader: Is that a monster? It doesn't really look like one...
Virtue Core: ...!
Wholesale Trader: Yaaargh!
Virtue Core: ...!
Retail Mogul: Aaaah!
Arms Dealer: You gotta be kidding me! This can't be happening!
Sierokarte: They're still breathing! Get them on your back and run for the exit!
District Chief: There's a back door over here that leads to the soldiers' quarters! We can ask them for backup—
District Chief: No, Siero!
Virtue Core: ...!
???: Thanks for the coffee. I must say this is pretty good.
Sierokarte: Vyrn...
Lyria...
(Captain)!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 1: Light - Episode 1

With the help of librarian Arusha and folklorist Johann, (Captain) and crew discover the relation between island buoyancy and the tetra-elements.

(Captain) sits amid the endless shelves of books within the Hall of Knowledge, brows furrowed at the book in hand.
Vyrn: Let's see...
"An island's buoyancy is derived from the composition of the island and its atmosphere..."
Lyria: Um...
"Although the primal beasts were considered weapons, it could be argued that they had vestigial uses..."
Vyrn: "In regards to the composition of the atmosphere, if a vital element is replaced..."
Lyria: "Tracing history back to antiquity, the occupation period by the Astrals was characterized by..."
Vyrn: Argh! I can't take it anymore!
Lyria: Ouch... My head feels like it's about to explode...
Katalina: Are you okay, you two? Don't strain yourselves over these books.
Vyrn: But we're in crunch time. Everyone in the crew is off doing their own investigations.
Lyria: Vyrn's right. And on top of that, I sense a primal beast. I have to figure it out!
Spurred on by the rumors of the cataclysms, the crew is currently searching for a solution. They've decided to start at the source.
Rackam has gone to Port Breeze while Io has left for Fremel. All crew members will eventually reunite to report their findings.
Meanwhile (Captain)'s group searches the library where all the sky's knowledge is held to find a link between island buoyancy and primal beasts.
Katalina: Are you still sensing that primal beast?
Lyria: Yes. It's faint, but I can feel it wherever we go.
Vyrn: That's so weird though. Even if you've been sensin' it, no one's seen it at all.
Katalina: Lyria's intuition has never let us down before. It's not always clear at first, but we do find it in the end.
Katalina: The timing of this primal beast and the cataclysms probably isn't a coincidence.
Arusha: I've brought more books, everyone! Oof!
Lyria: Sorry about that, Arusha. Thanks for bringing us all these.
Vyrn: Holy moly! How many did you grab? Thanks, I guess...
Arusha: And I'm just getting started. Leave the book hunting to me!
Arusha is a crew member

Arusha knows all the nooks and crannies of the Hall of Knowledge, and she has cheerfully volunteered to be the crew's librarian.
Arusha not in crew

Arusha is a librarian of the Hall of Knowledge. She's an expert in her field.
She happily lends a hand after hearing about the dire situation from the crew.
Arusha: By the way, did you happen to see a book with a white and gold cover? I brought it over by accident.
Katalina: White and gold? Oh, you mean that book he's holding—
Johann: Of course! What sound reasoning this is!
Lyria: What did you find out, Johann?
Johann: This page right here! It proposes a theory connecting the ruins of the Astrals and the placement of the Grim Basin!
Vyrn: So... what does that have to do with the cataclysms?
Johann: Nothing!
Ah, the Hall of Knowledge certainly lives up to its name!
Any version of Johann is a crew member

Johann is a young man brimming with curiosity. He's accompanying the crew in order to expand his knowledge of the Astrals.
No version of Johann in crew

Johann is a young, traveling folklorist. His various journeys revolve around uncovering the secrets of the Astrals.
He and the crew had met once before on a different mission, and now he has returned to help out again.
Katalina: Ahem... I don't mean to dampen your enthusiasm, but we're here to investigate a link between buoyancy and primal beasts...
Johann: Right, sorry. The investigation is going smoothly. I've already read through and analyzed all of these books.
Johann: Unfortunately nothing seems to be particularly useful. It does point to the imbalance between the tetra-elements as being the key, but...
Lyria: Tet... tra?
Vyrn: Imbalance?
Johann: Well, this is what I've gathered so far. Mind you this isn't my area of expertise.
Johann: First the cataclysms are caused by a loss in island buoyancy. That's the power that keeps an island afloat.
Johann: The idea is tetra-elements attract and repel each other to arrive at equilibrium.
Lyria: Um, huh? Petra elements in equal librium?
Arusha: That's tetra not Petra, Lyria. Elements are particles too small to be seen with the naked eye.
Arusha: Everything in this world—the air, skydwellers including you and me, even this Hall of Knowledge—is made of microscopic elements.
Arusha: You can also think of buoyancy as a big, invisible net in the sky.
Vyrn: Okay... Then what does the tetra part mean?
Johann: There are many types of elements, but four of them are especially important: fire, water, earth, and wind.
Johann: The equilibrium—Er, suppose you get four people to pull equally on each corner of a net... You'd be able to take a nap on it.
Johann: But if the pull on any one corner of the net weakens...
Katalina: Then the island comes crashing down. Now if we add the primal beast that Lyria's sensing into the picture...
Arusha: There's a chance it's tampering with the elements.
Lyria: I didn't know there was a primal beast that could do that...
Vyrn: I still don't see the point. Primals are supposed to be weapons, right? Don't you get the feeling there's something else goin' on?
Katalina: It does make me uneasy. I can picture them being more than just weapons of the War.
Johann: A weapon whose purpose isn't to fight? Or just a fundamental shift in their original blueprints?
Arusha: It definitely makes your head spin. But I think we came up with some good ideas! I'm going to check the bookshelves in the back!
Lyria: I'm coming too!
Vyrn: Lyria's been in high gear ever since we got here.
Katalina: Haha. I think it's because handling primal beasts is her specialty, so she's taking it upon herself to help.
Katalina: Maybe it's due to (Captain)'s influence, but her determination has come a long way from when we first started our journey.
Katalina: She's become a lovely young woman.

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 1: Light - Episode 2

A hidden manuscript in the Hall of Knowledge describes the very first primal beasts as vastly superior beings who regulated the world. The four primarchs governing the tetra-elements in particular appear to be strongly connected to the cataclysms.

(Captain) and company work tirelessly to find a connection between the tetra-elements and the primal beasts.
But night falls without much progress being made.
Vyrn: Whew... It's already dark outside.
Lyria: Yawn... I feel kind of feverish, and my eyes are blurry...
Katalina: Nice work, you two. Let's head back and get some rest.
Arusha: It's almost closing time anyway. I'll work through the night so we're ready for tomorrow.
Arusha: Johann also—
Arusha: Johann? Where did he go?
Katalina: Strange... I'll go look for him. He's probably buried in thought somewhere—
Johann: Whoaaa!
Lyria: Gasp! Who was that?
Katalina: Is everything all right? Where are you, Johann?
Johann: Ahahaha!
Vyrn: Huh? Now he's laughing?
Arusha: It sounds like it's coming from below...
Arusha: No, it couldn't be! Did he get into the secret underground archives?
Johann: Heh heh... Ahahaha!
Johann: Wow! I can't believe these records actually existed!
Arusha: I knew you were here, Johann!
Vyrn: Whoa, he's like a kid in a candy store. That guy's way too curious for his own good.
Katalina: Come on out, Johann. This area is off-limits. You'll get Arusha in trouble.
Johann: Off-limits? But there are so many treasures here. Aw, what a waste.
Arusha: There's a reason why they're being stored here, you know. You need permission from the king in order to study them.
Arusha: That's strange. They should've been locked up tight.
Johann: Hahaha. I'm a folklorist of ancient ruins, remember? No lock's going to keep me out.
Vyrn: Hey, you're giving other folklorists a bad name...
Lyria: ...
Katalina: Lyria, are you okay? You seem distant.
Lyria: Huh? Oh, I was just looking at something on the top shelf...
Vyrn: What, that bundle of torn-up papers actually caught your eye?
Johann: Hmm... A mysterious manuscript that the hall wants to keep hidden is attracting Lyria's attention...
Johann: ...
Johann: Got it.
Arusha: Aaah! I thought I said don't go touching stuff that isn't yours!
Johann: I know, sorry. But this manuscript should be fine. It's not as ancient as it looks.
Johann: ...!
Lyria: Johann? What does it say?
Johann: This is a huge discovery! It appears to be a journal or logbook, and it's all written with a primal beast's biofluid.
Johann: These illustrations and symbols most assuredly refer to the tetra-elements. And this crest is known only to Astral academics.
Katalina: The tetra-elements! And how does it relate to the Astrals?
Vyrn: Yeah, what's it say, what's it say?
Johann: This is going to take some time. There are unfamiliar characters mixed in everywhere.
Arusha: I recognize that writing system! Here, we can use this book for reference.
Johann sets to deciphering the manuscript with Arusha's assistance.
Bits and pieces of information become clearer as the duo work in tandem.
Lyria: It's about the original primal beasts?
Vyrn: And their purpose was to regulate the world?
Johann: It began when the Astrals took over the skydoms about two thousand years ago, long before the War started.
Johann: After their successful invasion, the Astrals set out to regulate the world to perfection, thus an automated system was born.
Johann: That system would be the original primal beasts. They even had full control over the elements.
Arusha: All the primal beasts we know of today pale in comparison it seems.
Katalina: But I've never heard any stories mentioning the original primal beasts.
Johann: Yes. It's not clear why, but it looks like most traces of them were erased even before the War.
Vyrn: So these original primal beasts... These OPBs are all gone?
Arusha: Ahahaha... OPB... Wait a second. It says here four of them have survived...
Lyria: Four of them...
Lyria: And there are four elements!
Johann: This manuscript uses modern lexicon, so it must've been written somewhat recently. How could the author have known about something so far in the past?
Johann: "Among the original primals are a select few called the archangels..."
Johann: "Four of them, with their beautiful wings, can each control a single element. They're called the Four Primarchs."
Johann: "Though their corporeal forms have long been assimilated into the sky, their omnipresence continues to reign."

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 1: Light - Episode 3

(Captain) and crew decide to meet the four primarchs to uncover their connection to the cataclysms. When mysterious creatures thought to be lesser primal beasts attack the Hall of Knowledge, Lyria comes to the forefront to defend her injured allies.

The crew learns from a hidden archive that the very first primal beasts were created to regulate the world. Some could even control the elements.
Bewildered by this information as they are, the crew discuss their next course of action.
Katalina: An omnipresent existence... That means they're everywhere just like the elements are everywhere.
Katalina: They have no form but are always present. That might explain what Lyria's sensing.
Arusha: I see. Then how come she couldn't sense that faint aura until recently?
Johann: I say the gathering of the elements is an omen for their eventual re-manifestation.
Vyrn: Geez, I really don't get this. So you're saying they'll get their shape back? Then let's just slap some sense into 'em like we always do!
Arusha: Ahaha... It's not like they've gotten out of control yet.
Katalina: Hehehe, indeed. For now I propose we head for Port Breeze to determine the situation.
Lyria: Because of the wind there?
Katalina: Yes. If any manifestations of elemental power were to occur, Port Breeze would be a good place for it.
Vyrn: Gotcha! Let's get back to the port!
Vyrn: Rackam's group is already at Port Breeze, so we can meet them at the Grandcyph—
Katalina: Something's above us on the first floor!
Virtue Core: ...
Vyrn: Yipes! What is that thing?
Arusha: Oh no! The books! The books will burn!
Johann: Don't worry, Arusha! I'll put up a barrier!
Virtue Core: ...!
The strange creature unleashes its light, destroying the large central pillar and blasting the party into different corners of the library.
(Captain) is quick to shake Katalina back to consciousness.
Katalina: Where is everyone? Oh, on the other side of the pillar...
Katalina: Lyria? Where's Lyria?
Lyria: Cough, cough... I'm over here! Vyrn's with me!
Virtue Core: ...!
Katalina: Oh no you don't! (Captain), it's aiming for—
With a single blow from (Captain), the sinister beam of light is redirected upward into the ceiling.
Rubble rains down on Katalina as she sprints over to shield Lyria from danger.
Katalina: Huff... Huff... Is anyone hurt?
Vyrn: Nope, you saved us, Katalina! We're both fine!
Lyria: Mm-hm. Thank you...
Lyria: Gasp! Katalina! Your leg!
Katalina: Haha, it's just a scratch. But I'm not much use to you with this injury.
Katalina: (Captain), take care of Lyria. That thing is using the hall to its advantage. I'll lure it outside into the plaza, and then—
Lyria: What are you talking about! Can't I go with you?
Katalina: Lyria, it's too dangerous to move together right now. It'll be fine. I'll escape too when I find an opening.
Lyria: No, you can't! It's some sort of primal beast! It feels different, but I can still tell what it is!
Vyrn: Whoa! You can't go up against something that dangerous...
Katalina: But I can't protect you with my leg like this!
Lyria: I said no! You're with me, right, (Captain)?
  1. I'm with Lyria!
  2. This is a tough call, isn't it?

Choose: I'm with Lyria!
Lyria: Thank you, (Captain)!

Choose: This is a tough call, isn't it?
Lyria: But we can't just leave Katalina behind!
(Captain) nods in agreement.
Continue 1
Katalina: Sigh... Not you too, (Captain)...
Katalina: Haha, all right, I take back what I said. I didn't mean to get scolded by Lyria.
Katalina: Sorry, (Captain), but can I borrow your shoulder?
Lyria: I'm sorry too. I just couldn't shake this awful feeling...
Katalina: It's okay, Lyria. I'm glad you're able to speak up more than you used to.
Virtue Core: ...
Vyrn: Yikes! Guys, that halo thing is aiming for us!
Katalina: What!
Virtue Core: ...!
Lyria: No, stop it! I won't let you!
Lyria: I said stop!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 1: Light - Episode 3: Scene 2

Crisis is averted thanks to Lyria's efforts. Arusha and Johann lead the crew out of the Hall of Knowledge.

Lyria: Huff... Huff... Did we beat it?
Katalina: Lyria! How could you be so reckless? Are you hurt anywhere?
Lyria: No, I'm fine...
Vyrn: Phew... You surprised me, Lyria. But we're safe thanks to you!
Lyria: Haha... I kind of surprised myself actually...
Katalina: I really wasn't expecting that, but I'm grateful you saved us.
Arusha: Thank goodness you're all safe!
Lyria: Arusha! Johann! Are you two okay?
Johann: We can talk later! It looks like there's a way out over here!
Vyrn: Got it! Can you walk, Katalina?
Katalina: Yes, the bleeding's stopped. Let's hurry, everyone!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 1: Light - Episode 4

As the crew and the guards in town struggle against the strange creatures, Sierokarte shows up in a skyskimmer. Katalina, Arusha, and Johann remain on the island to wipe out the invading creatures, while (Captain), Vyrn, and Lyria go with Sierokarte to continue their investigation.

When the party arrive back in town, they find the citizens panicking from the chaos stirred up by the strange creatures.
The guards are being pushed back in the face of never-before-seen enemies. Katalina, unable to stand idly by, quickly assumes command.
Arusha: This book's for you! Hyaaa!
Johann: A subcategory of primal beast? Now that's interesting!
Guard: Ergh! There are more coming through the west gate!
Katalina: Don't panic! We need to form a unit to crush them all!
Katalina: I'll tell you their attack patterns! They're not so tough once you know where they're targeting!
Guard: Understood!
Vyrn: That's our Katalina! You were born to lead!
Katalina: Just old habits kicking in. But honestly speaking we're in a tight spot.
Katalina: With an injured commander, this fight is only going to get worse. It could be days before we get a ship.
Johann: That's not good. We're probably the ones who know the most about the cataclysms.
Arusha: And only Lyria can track down the whereabouts of the four primarchs.
Katalina: Yes, we can't stay here. On the other hand, we can't abandon these people either.
Sierokarte: Hey! Over here!
Lyria: Huh? Siero? Why are you here?
Sierokarte: Well, we merchants were affected by the cataclysms too. We've been traveling everywhere in skyskimmers.
Katalina: Skyskimmers? That's perfect! I have a favor to ask of you, Siero.
Katalina: There's no time for details, but can you take Lyria to Port Breeze?
Lyria: Katalina!
Katalina: It's not what you think, Lyria. I'm not saying this to protect you; I'm entrusting you with a mission.
Lyria: A mission?
Katalina: Continue with the cataclysm investigation. I'll meet back with you after I take care of things here.
Katalina: I know you can do it, Lyria. I want you to protect everyone in the world.
Lyria: ...
Johann: A skyskimmer could probably fit (Captain), Lyria, Vyrn, and Siero at most.
Arusha: We'll focus on securing this island. It should go smoothly since we have Katalina!
Katalina: Can we count on you, Lyria?
Lyria: Yes!
Lyria: Leave the investigation to me, Katalina!
Katalina: That's the spirit! I'm counting on you too, (Captain).
(Captain) nods and exchanges a firm handshake with Katalina.
Sierokarte: Well, it's settled then! Good luck, everyone!
Vyrn: Hang in there! We'll definitely join up again later!
With that, (Captain) and a few others are able to escape from the island safely.
They embark on a journey of discovery, tragedy, and primarchs.

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 2: Sky - Episode 1

In spite of the dire circumstances, the crew cheers up with an uplifting sing-along with Lyria while heading for a shrine where the wind primarch is believed to reside.

Sierokarte pilots the skyskimmer through rough headwinds to finally arrive at Port Breeze.
The emergency landing takes a toll on the small fuselage, but all passengers disembark safely.
Sierokarte: As I was saying, that man even disrupted the merchant information network.
Sierokarte: I managed to make it out of there thanks to the district chief and his aides.
Vyrn: I see... And so you went around spreading the info personally and ended up at the Hall of Knowledge.
Lyria: It must've been hard for you, Siero. Are the other merchants okay?
Sierokarte: Yes. Though we all made it outside, they barely escaped with their lives.
Virtue Core: ...!
Sierokarte: (Captain)!
Arms Dealer: Graaah!
Virtue Core: ...
Arms Dealer: How's it taste, you monster? That's the latest gun tech we just got!
Arms Dealer: Chief! Sierokarte! C'mon, we're getting out of here! I've got your back!
District Chief: Thank you, I owe you one! Let's go, Siero!
???: Oh?
Vyrn: Sheesh, I wonder who that guy is.
Lyria: Umm... Could he really be an archangel?
Sierokarte: Who knows. Now, you intend to find these four primarchs?
Vyrn: Yep, that's the plan. We're supposed to meet up with Rackam's group, but we might lose the primal beast's trail if we do.
Vyrn: How is it coming, Lyria? Do you know where it is?
Lyria: Um...
Lyria: What I'm sensing is the wind element. It feels stronger than it did yesterday.
Lyria: It's probably gathering in the forest to the east.
Sierokarte: Mm-hmm. There should be an old shrine out there...
Sierokarte: But...
Vyrn: But what?
Sierokarte: Oh, it's just... I'm a little worried about something.
Sierokarte: Even if they're not weapons, archangels are still primal beasts. Aren't they still hostile towards skydwellers?
Vyrn: Yeah, I guess so...
Sierokarte: Sorry, I didn't mean to bring down the mood.
Vyrn: But you're right. The crew's all scattered about right now.
Vyrn: What are the archangels? What are we going to say when we meet them? I just don't know...
Sierokarte: That's true. First we need to rendezvous with the others before anything else.
Vyrn: Yeah, but if the island sinks...
Without the company of their ever present comrades, a deafening, gloomy silence falls over the small party.
But there's still one ray of light.
Lyria: Come on, everyone! Why don't we sing a song?
Lyria: Whoa, whoa-whoa-whoa!
Whoa, whoa-whoa-whoa!
Vyrn: Huh?
Sierokarte: Lyria?
Lyria: Ahaha... Haa... Um...
Lyria: It doesn't matter what kind of primal beasts the archangels are. I promised Katalina I would protect everyone in the world!
Lyria: So I'm going to sing and be merry! Then I'll have the energy to do anything!
Vyrn: Lyria...
Lyria: Come on, (Captain), join in!
  1. What are the lyrics?
  2. Whoa, whoa-whoa-whoa!

Choose: What are the lyrics?
Lyria: Huh? It's just whoa and yeah. No good?

Choose: Whoa, whoa-whoa-whoa!
Lyria: Heehee! I knew you were a good singer!
Continue 1
Vyrn: Hahaha!
Vyrn: All right, now I'm all pumped up too! You'd better watch out, archangels!
Sierokarte: There you go, Vyrn! Then allow me to show you the way to the shrine!
Lyria: You're coming with us too, Siero? Yay, thank you!
Sierokarte: No problem! I'm always there to lend a hand!
Vyrn: Woo-hoo! And we're off!
Everybody: Whoa, whoa-whoa-whoa!
Whoa, whoa-whoa-whoa!
Everybody: Yeah, yeah, yeah!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 2: Sky - Episode 2

A group of thugs chases Rackam around Port Breeze for the bounty on his head. Richard and Therese come to the rescue, but when they learn that a bounty has been placed on the entire Grandcypher crew, they make a mad dash to meet up with (Captain) and the others.

While (Captain)'s group deal with their emergency landing, something else is afoot in the Port Breeze city center.
Rackam: Are you kidding me? 100 million rupies for what?
Thug 1: There's the bounty! Don't try a-runnin' 'cause we got ya surrounded!
Thug 2: All yer fidgeting is freaking annoying!
Rackam: S-stop shooting, you crazy idiot! You've got me mixed up for someone else!
Thug 1: Nah, you'll do just fine! Won't you, Rackam the Cruddy Helmsman!
Thug 2: I guess I should be saying welcome back! Yer our ticket to riches after all!
Rackam: It's all nonsense based on lies! Lies!
Thug 1: Hyuck-hyuck, like I care! You got a problem—go complain to the bounty poster!
Rackam: Ugh, this is going nowhere. I don't have time for this crap!
Rackam: Never thought I'd be treated to such a poor homecoming!
Thug 2: Hey! He's over there! Everyone close in!
The thug hails more over, and they slowly converge on Rackam.
Rackam: Whoa, whoa, whoa! What, is every punk in town here?
Thug 1: Time to pay up, eh, Rackam? I've been waiting fer three years to get back atcha fer what ya did to me at the bar!
Rackam: I don't remember that, damn it! Fine, I'll take you all on!
???: That's not smart...
Thug 1: Cough, cough... Argh, who did that?
Thug 2: Where you at, Rackam? Get back here, you 100-million-rupie meal ticket!
As a smoke screen expands, a man guides Rackam around the corner and into a storehouse.
Rackam: Huff... Puff... Thanks for the save, Richard. Where were you watching from?
Richard: The rooftops. Now about my fee. I think 10,000 rupies should cover it.
Rackam: You haven't changed a bit. So who owns this place?
Richard: An acquaintance of mine who runs a coffee shop. I use it sometimes when things go south.
Richard is a crew member

Richard, in all his smiling glory, has joined Rackam at Port Breeze to help with the investigation.
Richard not in crew

On a previous stop at Port Breeze, the crew had met a genius gambler by the name of Richard during the Festival of Falling Flame.
When Rackam ran into him again, Richard decided to help with the investigations into the cataclysms.
Rackam: Sigh... This is an ordeal now. We can't do anything with that weird rumor about me floating around.
Richard: We'd best lay low till the heat dies down, especially with those hoodlums everywhere.
Rackam: We don't have time to wait around, you know. The entire sky's at stake.
Richard: Heh. You're still a rookie, Rackam. The sky lanes will clear for those who wait.
Rackam: Oh? Is that a gambler's adage?
Richard: Huh? There's no such thing as a gambler's adage. All you need is luck, luck, and more luck.
Rackam: Then what were you saying before with that smug look on your face?
Richard: That was a lover's maxim. I read it in a book at my friend's coffee shop. Should I go get it while we kill time?
Rackam: Who needs that crap? We've got an investigation to carry out!
Richard: What? How dare you call my favorite book crap!
Rackam: For crying out loud... I've lost the will to listen to you.
Rackam: Wait, did you say love? You couldn't possibly mean...
Therese: S-shhh! Be quiet, you two. There are still some thugs outside the storehouse.
Richard: Th-Th-Th-Therese!
Yes! You're absolutely, definitely right!
Rackam: Sigh... I knew it.
Any version of Therese is a crew member

Therese stands with the door open a crack. She's also come to fateful Port Breeze in order to lend Rackam a hand.
No version of Therese in crew

Therese is a popular duelist of the casino's arena.
She had met the crew during the Festival of Falling Flame, and now she's decided to help Rackam.
Therese: Um... I heard about that bounty rumor from the townspeople.
Therese: Everyone aboard the Grandcypher has had a bounty placed on them...
Rackam: Everyone? It's more malicious than I thought...
Therese: They say a blue-haired girl is causing the cataclysms.
Therese: Some wealthy people seriously believe she's manipulating the primal beasts, even though that's completely false.
Richard: I see. So even the honorless bourgeoisie have lost it.
Therese: It's an awful lie, isn't it? Even as the cataclysms are coming...
Richard: They have no consideration for anything. Once things calm down, I'm gonna tear them a new one.
Richard: Well, at least we know how those bounties got started. Looks like we'll have to take a wait-and-see approach.
Rackam: ...
Therese: What's wrong, Rackam? You seem antsy...
Rackam: Me? Antsy? No way...
Richard: Heh... You sure have changed.
Rackam: What're you talking about all of a sudden?
Richard: That little run-in with the thugs reminded me of how disagreeable you were when I first met you at the Festival of Falling Flames.
Richard: You basically spent the entire time cooped up in the airship, didn't you?
Richard: You'd just started traveling, so everything made you jumpy. But now your face is full of concern for your crewmates.
Rackam: Shut up. That ain't it. I'm not trying to be anyone's guardian—
Man's Voice 1: Ya hear that, fellas? Some ship just crash-landed out on the highlands!
Man's Voice 2: Yeah, and the blue-haired girl's been spotted there! She's probably the one with the bounty on her head! Get the boys together!
Therese: A blue-haired girl... Could she be Lyria?
Rackam: Damn it!
Therese: Rackam! Ah, he's already gone.
Richard: Heh. See? I told you he's changed.
Therese: Oh no, they found him! If this keeps up, everyone will be in trouble...
Therese: I... I have to go help him!
Richard: Huh? Therese? Wait for me! Let's go help him together!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 2: Sky - Episode 3

The thugs from earlier bar the way to the shrine in the forest. The strange creatures come attacking here too, but thankfully Rackam's group comes to the rescue just in time.

Following Lyria's senses and Siero's lead, (Captain)'s group moves closer to the shrine in the forest.
The natural landscape becomes increasingly abnormal, stopping them in their tracks.
Lyria: Eep!
Vyrn: Gyah! What kind of wind is this?
Lyria: Phew... It's acting really strangely, blowing in from all directions.
Vyrn: Not only that, but it feels like hot and cold seasonal winds are mixing together.
Sierokarte: Winds blowing from all directions can only mean one thing...
Vyrn: Yeah, there's a high chance of a primarch here. Let's keep pushing through the wind!
Thug 1: Oho, there you are! I found the jackpot!
Lyria: Aaah! Who are you people?
Thug 1: Yo, get over here, bro! We gotta deal with these other jokers with her!
Vyrn: We got friends too, you know! If you try to get in our way, then—
Thug 2: Yaaargh!
Sierokarte: Who was that?
Virtue Core: ...
Thug 1: What the hell is that?
Thug 2: Urgh... Run... or you'll die...
Thug 1: Bro! Come on, man, grab my shoulder!
Thug 2: What're ya doin'? Get outta here, stupid!
Virtue Core: ...!
Lyria: I won't let you!
Help me, (Captain)!
The two move in perfect unison and send a blast hurtling towards the strange creature.
The blast causes the creature to switch targets, sparing the thugs' lives.
Thug 1: W-why didja do that?
Vyrn: Whatever, just get outta here! We'll deal with these halos!
Thug 2: S-sorry! We'll never forget thi—Gwaah!
Virtue Cores: ...
Sierokarte: Oh dear, it looks like we're surrounded!
Lyria: Oh no... What do we do, (Captain)?
Rackam: Sorry to keep you guys waiting! This is turning out to be one busy day!
Vyrn: Rackam!
Rackam: You guys, fall back!
Me and (Captain) will—
Lyria: I'm going in first! I've always wanted to try this!
Lyria: Hiyaaa!
Rackam: Huh? Why's she... What the heck is going on here?

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 2: Sky - Episode 3: Scene 2

Rackam is both concerned and surprised at Lyria's combative prowess. Meanwhile Sierokarte finds a weakened man collapsed deep in the forest.

Rackam: So we're headed for the shrine up ahead, huh?
Vyrn: You got that right. A primarch should be waiting for us there.
Rackam: Lyria, I admire your courage for fighting out there, but take it easy, okay?
Lyria: Yes, of course! I know my limits!
Rackam: Anyway, with the winds settling down, we should get going to that shrine.
Vyrn: Ah, now that you mention it, the wind has stopped...
Sierokarte: Hey, everyone. Can you come over here for a sec?
Rackam: Oy, what is it this time? Don't tell me it's more of those winged turds again?
Sierokarte: Not quite—it's something much bigger.
Lyria: Ah! S-Siero... Who is that lying over there?
???: Ngh...

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 2: Sky - Episode 4

Greatly weakened, the wind primarch, Raphael, vanishes—but not before saying only primarchs can repair the void between primarchs. Though many mysteries remain unresolved, Rackam departs on the Grandcypher to gather more allies, while (Captain), Vyrn, Lyria, and Sierokarte head for Fremel Island.

Lyria clearly senses the aura of a primal beast coming from a collapsed man in the forest.
He appears to be greatly weakened.
Lyria: We can't see the wings, but there's no doubt about it. This is the wind primarch we've been searching for.
Sierokarte: The wind primarch. According to Arusha's notes, that would make you Raphael, correct?
Raphael: ...
Rackam: Uh, so it looks like you're in a lot of pain, Raphael. What exactly happened to you?
Raphael: Why bother asking, for the efforts of mortals amount to nothing...
Vyrn: Hey! The whole world's in trouble thanks to the imbalance between you and your pals!
Lyria: Can you at least tell us some information? Does it have to do with your condition?
Raphael: The red dragon and the girl in blue...
Raphael: I see...
Raphael: ...
Raphael mumbles to himself as he considers what to do. After a brief moment, he nods to himself as if coming to a decision.
Raphael: The matter is not urgent.
Without saying another word, Raphael's body becomes enveloped in a verdant green light. At the same time, the winds pick up and rage like a tempest.
Vyrn: Argh! Is he trying to run away?
Rackam: Hey! Wait a minute! What were you concerned about?
Raphael: Hm... You pilot an airship created by a primal.
Rackam: Huh? You know about the Grandcypher?
Raphael: Only primarchs can repair the void between primarchs.
Lyria: He disappeared. How did he know so much about us?
Vyrn: He said the void between primarchs. Was he attacked by the others?
Rackam: Hold on, what if you're right? He could be out for revenge against them!
Sierokarte: If that happens, the imbalance between the tetra-elements will only get—
Richard: Hey! There you guys are!
Vyrn: Well, if it isn't Richard! Something happen? You look troubled.
Richard: The town's been overrun by those halo monsters! Therese's holding them off for now, but—
Lyria: Oh no, Therese! We've got to get back to her!
Therese: You're weak! This is what it feels like to go up against a sword honed by a multitude of duels!
Therese: Haaaa!
Virtue Core: ...
Thug 1: Yaaah! We ain't gonna let you hog all the glory! Protect the city, boys!
Richard: Therese! I'm here now!
Richard: Er, what's with the mini-army?
Rackam: You guys!
Thug 2: Heh heh! We're just returnin' what we owe ya! This ain't the time for bounty talks!
Therese: Leave this to me! The rest of you go with (Captain) and continue the investigation!
Vyrn: Right! Which primarch is next? I think Fremel is the closest island to us.
Lyria: Yes, but Katalina's group is still...
Rackam: Yeah, I get why you're worried... Why don't we split into two groups: one for investigations and one to assemble everyone in the crew.
Therese: You can hop on the casino liner. I'll have my guys give you a lift. They're evacuating everyone to Fremel right now.
Rackam: Good thinking! As for me I'll go pick up the others. Hope you can handle the investigations without me, (Captain).
Rackam: And also... Never mind. Forget it.
Vyrn: Huh? What's up?
Richard: Humph. Rackam, those things are coming at us fast. If you've got something to say, say it now.
Rackam: Sh-shut it. I'm not trying to be anyone's babysitter, but you guys had better not overdo it.
Rackam: Doesn't matter what kind of danger you find yourselves in—I'll come flying in on the Grandcypher, all right?
Lyria: Rackam...
Lyria: I understand!
Sierokarte: Hehehe! Well then, everyone, we're off to Fremel!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 3: Life - Episode 1

Shortly after landfall (Captain) and company immediately set out to look for Stan, who is investigating rumors of primal beast sightings.

The invasion of the strange creatures has already spread to Fremel.
Luckily the skydweller forces are holding their own, thanks to the efforts of two stalwart warriors.
Io: Haaaa!
Aliza: Dorya!
Virtue Core: ...
Io: Whew... Are you still doing okay, Aliza? That takes care of all the bad guys here!
Aliza: I'm fine, Io! Let's go back up the port!
Any version of Aliza is a crew member

Aliza and Io were in the middle of their investigation when Fremel came under attack. Together they spearhead the counteroffensive.
No version of Aliza in crew

Born to a respected family of the Valtz Duchy, Aliza is a steadfast young woman with a penchant for martial arts.
The crew had met her previously during an incident involving a primal beast. She has returned to help out.
Io: In any case I think these halos have got to be related to the cataclysms.
Aliza: Yeah... What did Tzaka the Great say? Isn't he examining the ones that got destroyed?
Io: Master says they're really, really old primal beasts, maybe even the earliest ones.
Io: They're way older than any of the normal primal beasts.
Aliza: The earliest ones? Now that you mention it, they are kind of unbalanced. Their attacks pack a punch, but they don't have much defense.
Aliza: Well, we can wonder about it afterwards. Ensuring everyone's safety comes first!
Virtue Cores: ...
Io: No way! Here comes a new bunch, Aliza!
Aliza: It's just wave after wave... I'll handle this, Io! You go help the port!
Io: Hey, wait! You can't seriously be thinking about taking them all on yourself!
Aliza: Ahaha! This is my chance to try out some new techniques. Now go!
Lyria: There's Io and Aliza, (Captain)!
Io: (Captain)? Lyria?
(Captain) flanks the enemy and attacks in one fell swoop.
Lyria covers (Captain) while Sierokarte and Vyrn bring up the rear.
Virtue Cores: ...
Aliza: Nice hit! Hah! The tides have turned!
Aliza: Doryaaa!
(Captain)'s group had taken the casino liner to Fremel. After leaving the ship, they had fought their way to rendezvous with Io's group.
The reunion of the two groups is joyous, but there's still much to do.
Sierokarte: Hehehe! Thank goodness you're all unharmed! The situation seems to have calmed down a bit, hasn't it?
Io: Yeah, but I'm still surprised. You're really going all out, Lyria.
Lyria: Ahahaha... Everyone's been saying that.
Vyrn: It's too early to be celebrating. About the primarchs, we—
Vyrn: Huh? Hey, where's Stan? Wasn't he with you, Aliza?
Aliza: Stan left to do recon. Something weird happened to the south that felt primal beast-ish around Nephthys's lair.
Vyrn: A primal beast? Did he go alone?
Aliza: Yeah, but what's the problem?
Aliza: The Stan I know can handle it. His sword skills have improved a lot!
Lyria: But this is no ordinary primal beast...
Sierokarte: Is it Raphael, or could it be the fire primarch Michael this time?
Io: Michael? Uh, what're you guys talking about?
Vyrn: There's no time to lose! Come on, I'll explain on the way!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 3: Life - Episode 2

Stan is found embroiled in a clash between the fire primarch, Michael—in a severely weakened state just as Raphael was—and a mysterious man. Stan's overwhelming urge to defend Fremel activates his dormant powers.

???: ...!
Stan: Hey, cut that out, will ya? This is a sacred place!
Stan: I don't know who you people are, but if you came to destroy Fremel...
Stan: You're gonna have to go through me!
Michael: ...
Stan: H-hey! Are you even listening?
Any version of Stan is a crew member

Stan, as daring and adventurous as ever, enthusiastically agreed to accompany Io and Aliza to help with the investigation in Fremel, but partway there ended up heading off on his own.
No version of Stan in crew

Stan has served Aliza's family for many years, doubling as her childhood friend.
Having once battled a primal beast together with Aliza and the crew, he had promised to help, but is currently diverted on a recon mission.
Michael: Haaaa!
Stan: Waaaugh!
Michael: Huff... Huff... I was careless. To think you'd attack during my re-manifestation...
???: ...
Michael: Wretch... Who do you think you are? Was this all part of your plan?
???: Heh heh heh...
Michael: Ugggh...
???: To see a primarch, one so vaunted for her bravery, lying in defeat is pure... ecstasy.
Michael: Agh!
Stan: Why is he kicking her?
Hey, what do you think you're doing!
???: This is great. It appears I've found a new hobby in sadism.
Michael: Ngh...
???: Feeling disgraced? Isn't it fun to have your face caked with mud and blood?
Michael: ...
???: Did she kick the bucket? They're nothing without their wings...
Michael: Hah... You blustering fool...
Michael: I don't know what you're scheming, but the supreme primarch—
Michael: Ugh!
???: Whatever. Crawl through the dirt all you like. I'll erase you like the islands all the same.
Stan: ...!
Michael: Just try it. I exist wherever fire crackles. I'll never be extinguished by the likes of you.
???: Oh, I'll find a way. I'm glad we had this chat, but it's time to go—
Stan: W-wait a minute!
???: Hm? You're still here?
Stan: Shut up! Of course I am! I'd never run!
Michael: Be gone, child... This no longer concerns skydwellers.
Stan: The heck it doesn't! You don't get to decide that either!
Stan: Getting rid of the islands or whatever you're doing. You think I'm gonna just sit by and let it happen?
Stan: I beg you! Will you help me rescue her? Please!
Aliza: Honestly... What took you so long? I got tired of waiting...
Druj: You two want to live together, you said! Whatever it takes, you said! So let's see whether you have what it takes!
Stan: I've changed my mind! Whatever it takes to make Aliza truly happy!
Aliza: Stan... I won't let you die! We're gonna make this dragon talk, just you watch!
Stan: This place is where Aliza and I...
Stan: Everyone's lives are important! They have memories they don't want to lose!
Stan: So I won't run away! I'm going to protect Fremel!
Michael: Are you really... a mortal?
???: Hmm?
???: Uwaagh!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 3: Life - Episode 3

Stan saves Michael with the power of the dragon's blood flowing within him. When (Captain) and company arrive, they learn that the mysterious man is an archangel bent on snatching the wings that guide the tetra-elements—which is the real reason islands are plummeting to an abyss all over.

(Captain) and the others have followed Stan's trail to an eerily silent cave. Signs of a violent struggle mar the ground and walls.
After hearing the state of the cave, Io and Aliza are filled with anxiety.
Vyrn: What happened here? Everything's all torn up!
Sierokarte: If the four primarchs had a fight among themselves, then that would explain the damage.
Io: Look, there's something on the ground.
Lyria: That must be—
Aliza: Stan's sword! Where are you, Stan? Answer me!
Aliza: Come on! Please say something back! Please...
Stan: Aaaugh!
Aliza: Stan!
Vyrn: Whoa, wait for us!
Aliza: Huff... Huff... Where are you, Stan?
Stan: S-stop it! C-can't breathe... Gonna die...
Aliza: There! Hang on, I'm com—
Aliza: Huh?
Stan: Let go of me! Stop patting my head!
Michael: Don't be bashful, child. A lad as fine as you only appears once a millennium.
Aliza's eyes nearly pop out at the sight in front of her. Michael is hugging Stan who squirms desperately to get out of her grasp.
(Captain) and the rest stop dead in their tracks behind Aliza, dumbfounded at the spectacle.
Aliza: Staaan!
Stan: A-Aliza? I-it's not what you think! It's a simple misunderstanding!
Michael: Am I mistaken? This child staked his life to safeguard my own. Such a display of gallantry deserves a just reward.
Aliza: You saved her life?
Stan: Wait, wait, wait! I said I'd protect Fremel! Michael just happened to be hurt too, so...
Aliza: Humph. And how long do you plan on burying your head into injured Michael's chest?
Stan: I can't get away! A weakened primal beast is still a primal beast, okay?
Aliza: Then explain to me how exactly you protected a primal beast that's stronger than you!
Vyrn: Oh boy... What should we do about this?
Lyria: Ahahaha... At least he's safe!
Io: Er... Still, maybe we should try to calm them all down!
Michael: Hmm... You people met Raphael...
Vyrn: Yep. He's wondering if the cataclysms and the imbalance are the work of a primarch.
Sierokarte: He was kind of vague, but he seemed to suspect the other primarchs had a hand in this...
Michael: Other primarchs...
Michael: It's never easy to make out what Raphael's thinking. He is rigid to a fault, incredibly secretive on top of his adherence to individualism.
Michael: I don't believe this concerns you mortals. The matter at hand is one for the primarchs.
Lyria: But it does concern us! This is a big deal!
Io: Yeah! Can't you at least tell us something we might be able to use?
Michael: ...
Michael: Very well. I shall tell you what I know in deference to my young rescuer.
Michael: The other day the earth element suddenly collapsed and with it disappeared every trace of Uriel.
Michael: The abrupt shift caused our equilibrium to collapse, thus leading to the phenomenon you call cataclysms.
Michael: In order to grasp Uriel's situation and the elemental imbalance, I manifested once more into this world.
Stan: And that's when that weird guy ambushed you.
Michael: Yes. He aimed for the exact moment I would appear and snatched my wings away.
Vyrn: That's the same m.o. as with Raphael. But why does that guy want your wings?
Michael: Our wings are the most vital organs to us primarchs. They are the source of our power.
Michael: More wings equate to more power. Conversely one stripped of wings is subject to weakening.
Michael: I am but a fragile shell of my former mighty self. Thankfully with a few drops of the dragon's blood flowing within this youth, I was able to conceal myself.
Aliza: Dragon's blood? She couldn't mean...
Stan: Druj? Then was that huge explosion of power your doing?
Michael: No, it was that wretch—he has already attained powers equal to that of a god. Earth, wind, and now my fire wings are in his possession.
Io: Say that again? He's already absorbed the powers of the wings?
Io: If he has the power to do that, doesn't that also make him a primarch?
Sierokarte: It couldn't be Uriel or Raphael, and Michael's here with us. That leaves—
Michael: You accuse Gabriel? Humph, I would've known immediately if that were the case.
Michael: No, that man is not a primarch. As such he is preoccupied with thoughts of becoming the fifth primarch.
Vyrn: The fifth primarch? Great, I bet that's another thing that'll go right over my head.
Michael: That is all. He means to target Gabriel next.
Michael: If he gains water's wings, he will surpass the status of a god. That must not come to pass, no matter the cost. Do you intend to continue involving yourselves?
Lyria: Yes, of course! We'll protect Gabriel!
Stan: I guess our next destination is Auguste. Getting an airship could be a problem though...
Aliza: I'll see what Mama can do! She should have a bunch of connections, I think. I'm heading back first!
Lyria: Wait, Aliza! There's a strange light coming from—
Virtue Cores: ...
Vyrn: Waaah! Those things are back again!
Stan: Aliza! Wait for me! We'll go back together!
Lyria: Ah! Stan! Sword, sword, sword! You dropped this!
Stan: Oops, thank you! You got this, guys!
Io: Thank you, my butt. What would he have done without it?
Lyria: Ahahaha!
Virtue Core: ...!
Lyria: Oh no, here they come, Io!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 3: Life - Episode 4

As a swarm of strange creatures come upon (Captain) and company again, Michael explains that the large archangel among the lesser archangels serves as their control tower. She carves open a path to it with her halberd, letting (Captain) go in for the kill.

(Captain) and company defeat the strange creatures, but more simply take their place.
Virtue Cores: ...
Vyrn: Huff... Puff... Darn it! Where are they coming from?
Lyria: Ngh... I hope Aliza and Stan are okay...
Io: Hey, Michael! What are these things? Don't they work for you or something?
Michael: More accurately speaking they submit only to the supreme primarch. In a broader sense they are lesser archangels.
Io: I don't get it! In other words they're the lowest level archangels?
Michael: Humph. Yes, that would suffice.
Virtue Core: ...!
Virtue Core: ...
Michael: The cores have been tampered with... That wretch is quite the shrewd one...
Michael: But even without my wings, did he truly think I'd succumb to mere pawns?
Michael: I will not be disrespected!
Michael unleashes a wave of fiery fury that incinerates every enemy in its path.
Virtue Cores: ...
She then points her halberd at a new incoming group of enemies.
Michael: You. The one called (Captain).
Michael: Do you see that mid-level archangel down there? Think of him as the sovereign of these pawns.
Michael: He is the pillar of control. Crush it. I shall cut a path forward for you.
Michael: Haaaa!
Lyria: Michael! Even with your severe injuries, you...
Io: Yeah. She acts tough, but we've got to do our part too!
Vyrn: All right, now's our chance! We're in the clear once we get past that huge halo!
Lyria: Okay! Let's go, (Captain)!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 4: Stars - Episode 1

The crew check in on an injured Eugen who is recupercatingMisspelling is found in-game. Should be "recuperating". in an infirmary, but are surprised to be greeted by the water primarch, Gabriel, who has taken the form of a nurse.

???: I've lost interest in the blue expanse of the skies.
???: Tell me, Lucifer. You govern evolution. Do you find meaning in it?
???: You must've grasped the truth by now. It's all just an illusion.
???: So. What now? Will you continue to watch in silence?
???: That's fine by me. Witness the demise of the skies and its rebirth as the heavenly realm.
(Captain) and company manage to escape from the cave. Thanks to Aliza's mother, they secure a ride on a provisional airship.
Io and Aliza stay behind on Fremel to finish off the remaining creatures while (Captain) and the others head to Auguste.
As soon as they land they are greeted with unexpected news, which sends them running for the hospital.
Lyria: Eugen!
Vyrn: Hey, nurse! Is there an old guy named Eugen in this hospital? He got hurt protecting a buncha people!
Nurse: Eugen? Ah, actually—
Eugen: Hah hah hah! Well, if it isn't the crew!
Eugen: Huh? You guys don't look so good.
Lyria: Eugen! You're okay, you're okay! Oh, thank goodness!
Vyrn: How come you're so peppy? Tell us what really happened to you guys...
It was Eugen's group who had fought off the lesser archangels that came and attacked the local traders.
That's when Eugen suffered a devastating injury landing him in the hospital, or so the crew had heard.
Eugen: Oy, get it right, Juri. It was nothin' but a sprain.
Juri: S-sorry. I wasn't expecting to see the crew in town, and I got carried away.
Lyria: Sheesh, you gave me such a shock. Still, I'm glad you're doing well too, Juri.
Juri: Thank you. The feeling is more than mutual.
Any version of Juri (Event) is a crew member

Juri and Eugen, both former soldiers of the empire, are assisting with the investigations in Auguste.
No version of Juri (Event) in crew

In a previous incident involving a primal beast, the crew had run into a youth named Juri, who was an imperial soldier at the time.
In the end Juri deserted his post to help the crew stop the empire's injustices.
But on this occasion, he is acting as Eugen's assistant.
Vyrn: Anyway, nice going with those halos! You got them all, didn't you?
Juri: It's all thanks to Eugen. The agents and I couldn't have won without his leadership.
Juri: But that's also why he's injured...
Juri: Argh, I'm such a disgrace! If only I'd assessed the situation more calmly!
Nurse: Hehehe... Please keep your voice down in the hospital, okay?
Juri: Yes, ma'am!
Eugen: Hahaha! Yer a real passionate dummy, ya know that?
Eugen: Yer right though. I ain't gonna argue that yer still green. Ya definitely got an impulsive, full-speed-ahead side to ya.
Eugen: But that recklessness of yours is yer weapon. Don't let it hold you back; embrace it while you're still young.
Eugen: Got it?
Juri: Eugen...
Vyrn: Snort. He's gettin' an earful from Eugen. Hey, Juri, we forgot to thank you for bringing us here!
Juri: Not at all. I'm returning to the defensive line now to help the agents.
Juri: The situation's grown quiet for now, but the threat of more enemies is always there. I will command in Eugen's stead!
Juri: Oh, and Farrah is proceeding with the investigation. Let's all share our status reports in due time!
Juri: I take my leave!
Eugen: And what are you guys gonna do? Ya still wanna go meet that primarch?
Lyria: Yes, but I'm having a hard time sensing anything. I know it has to be somewhere on this island though.
Vyrn: Say, Eugen. You know any sacred shrines around here?
Eugen: Hmm, shrines, eh... Yeah, I've heard of a few, but they're all off the island. Ugh, what a pain...
Lyria: Um, is it a problem if they're not on the island?
Nurse: All travel is restricted at the moment. The sea lanes are blocked off until officials are sure the islands are stable.
Vyrn: Are you serious?
Vyrn: I mean, I get why they did that, but that puts us in a tough spot.
Lyria: Maybe Siero can ask the merchants to help us. She should be at city hall right now.
Nurse: Before you do that, I think there's a shrine on this island. Wait here while I go ask the doctor.
Lyria: Oh, thank you...
Michael: How long will you keep up this charade? We are battling against each tick of time, Gabriel.
Gabriel: Oh my, oh my. It's been a long time, Michael. I see you're traveling with mortals now as well.
Lyria: Huh? Michael? And... Gabriel?
Vyrn: What the? You're Gabriel?

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 4: Stars - Episode 2

Gabriel explains that the mysterious man is an evil archangel who for ages was trapped in Pandemonium, a prison created by the Astrals. The seal was broken when Lyria summoned Proto Bahamut at Zinkenstill.

Farrah: Let me get this straight. A mysterious man flew into the sky above town and vanished?
Farrah: I see. There are a lot of matching eyewitness reports...
Thank you very much for your cooperation!
Any version of Farrah is a crew member

Farrah is engaged in enthusiastic detective work. Although she normally accompanies Katalina, at the moment she acts as Juri's overseer.
No version of Farrah in crew

Farrah was an imperial soldier who used to train under Katalina before deserting the military.
For a time she traveled with the crew aboard the Grandcypher.
She is now investigating the cataclysms with her former comrade Juri while acting as his superior officer.
Farrah decides to ask one last eyewitness before taking a break.
Farrah: Excuse me? I'd like to ask you about the halo attack—
Imperial Soldier: What, you an agent or something? This is an imperial garrison. Non-authorized personnel aren't permitted. Do you have identification?
Farrah: Erk! I-imperials?
Farrah: Shoot! If they find out I'm a deserter...
Imperial Soldier: Hmm... Hang on. I swear I've seen your face before...
Farrah: I-is that so? Ah hah hah... You couldn't have...
Sierokarte: Hi, Farrah. You're looking well.
Farrah: Shh!
S-Siero!
Imperial Soldier: Farrah? Aha! I thought I—
Sierokarte: Ah, yes. Let's get down to business...
Sierokarte: How are you finding the negotiations with the empire, Farrakarte?
Farrah: Farrah... karte?
Imperial Soldier: You're a trader? Did you come here to strike a deal?
Farrah: Y-yes, that's right. I've got all kinds of useful provisions for use against those halo attacks.
Imperial Soldier: Humph. We don't need any of that stuff since we've only been on standby.
Farrah: You haven't deployed yet? Now that you mention it, I haven't seen any imperials fighting. Why the delay?
Imperial Soldier: None of your business. Now get lost.
Farrah: ...
Farrah: Phew... Thanks for the help, Siero.
Sierokarte: No, no, the pleasure's all mine. Actually everyone's here too.
Gabriel, primarch of water, still has her wings, but she keeps them hidden from sight.
The party has moved to a more suitable location to talk, but (Captain) and company are still dumbfounded.
Gabriel: Haha, I'm very sorry about the ruse. I didn't mean to trick you.
Vyrn: I swear I woke up everyone in the hospital. I just thought you were a cheerful nurse.
Lyria: I'm really glad your wings are okay though. Did you know about that mysterious man?
Gabriel: Raphael dropped by with the news a little while ago. He told me about the fifth primarch, and he also mentioned you people.
Vyrn: Oh, so that guy came here too?
Gabriel: I was still asking questions when he just up and left.
Michael: He plays by his own rules. And what is your opinion on all this?
Gabriel: Oh, I agree with you.
Gabriel: All signs point to him being an archangel.
Michael: However, aside from us, no other high archangels remain in this realm.
Michael: Thus he's not of this realm, but the Otherworld... As I thought, the cage has been opened.
Gabriel: I discussed the likelihood of that with Raphael.
Gabriel: The chance meeting between the red dragon and the girl in blue at Zinkenstill led to the terrifying roar... and the cataclysms.
Vyrn: Hm? Red dragon and girl in blue?
Lyria: Are you talking about us?
Gabriel: Yes, but you don't have to worry about it. This is a problem for the primarchs.
Vyrn: That just makes us more worried, you know. Why are we mixed up in all this?
Lyria: Um... What do we have to do with the cataclysms?
Gabriel: ...
Michael: This information should be kept from you no longer. If you wish to know, then I will tell you without reserve.
Gabriel: On the other hand, we don't know what's going to happen. The uncertainties will only increase.
Michael: You deserve to know. As we laid powerless against the lesser archangels, you bravely rebuffed them.
Gabriel: Oooh... I forgot you had a soft spot for mortals.
Michael: You're aggravating. So what if I do?
Gabriel: Hahaha... It's all right. I understand.
Vyrn: What's going on? Anyway, we wanted to ask about—
Gabriel: The original primal beasts, the cage, the fifth primarch, and yourselves if I'm not mistaken.
Gabriel: We'll answer all of them. I think you people can handle it.
Lyria: Okay! Please go on!
Gabriel: It's a long story. To understand the cause of the cataclysms, we must go far back into the past.
Gabriel: It's a story about the origins of the world. I believe you mortals call it the creation myth.

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 4: Stars - Episode 3

Michael and Gabriel describe the creation myth, how it relates to primal beasts, and why Lyria's past summoning had set free the evil archangel. Lyria runs off, shocked to learn that she is, in a way, solely responsible for the cataclysms.

The creation myth—a tale of unverifiable authenticity dating back even before the birth of the primarchs.
In the beginning what once was nothing became everything.
It was then that the Sky Realm was created, a vast expanse of azure blue dotted with a multitude of islands.
Life sprang forth on those chunks of earth; though small at first, it was nurtured by nature's bounty.
But before long the Omnipotent was torn in twain. When one half departed from the realm, the Crimson Horizon opened in the lowest depths of the skies.
Thus one half remains in the skies, presiding over an evolving yet immature world.
While the other half skirts the terminus of the skies, presiding over a perfect yet stagnant world.
Two gods, two realms, in addition to a Crimson Horizon swirling with chaos. That is how the present world was created.
Vyrn: Hmm... That checks out with the stuff inside that book we found. I'm guessing the other half is the Astral world?
Gabriel: That's one way of interpreting it. Even we're not sure about the creation period. We're just as in the dark as you are.
Gabriel: But we do know about what came after that. The Astrals left their world, invaded the skies, and wrested control away.
The Astrals manufactured the original primal beasts one after another. They would serve as the perfect regulation mechanism.
Each origin beast controlled a specific aspect of the world.
One Astral researcher took an interest in the concept of evolution and created a primal beast to oversee it. Thus Lucifer was born.
The researcher considered Lucifer to be a masterpiece, going on to categorize him as a primarch to set him apart from the other origin beasts.
Lyria: Is Lucifer the supreme primarch you keep talking about?
Michael: Yes. The archangels do not bow to the Astrals' will. They follow the command of the supreme primarch.
Michael: He doesn't manifest unless he has a reason to, but he is always watching over the flow of the skies.
Various other types of archangels were created to help the researcher and Lucifer in their task.
A select few were chosen from those archangels to support the evolution of the skies.
Over time the Astrals began to see the origin beasts as a nuisance, and most of the beasts were sealed away in a cage.
That cage is Pandemonium—an Astral prison located on the eastern edge of the sky.
Vyrn: Did you say Pandemonium? That's the island shaped like a tower...
Gabriel: Mm-hm. We're not sure what the big picture is either, but it was intentional.
Lyria: A lot of origin beasts are kept in there?
Michael: Yes. It holds many enemies who, unlike us, begrudge this world.
Vyrn: Hold it. When you said the cage opened...
Gabriel: Once upon a time in Zinkenstill, an overwhelming lifeforce suddenly appeared.
Gabriel: Perhaps you're unaware, but it responded to your dormant potential and shook the world with a terrifying roar.
Gabriel: The roar caused the seal on Pandemonium to loosen slightly.
Lyria: ...!
Michael: And the fifth primarch escaped the cage. For thousands of years he's been watching and plotting his foolish schemes.
Vyrn: No way...
Vyrn: I still don't get this, but you're saying the cataclysms are connected to that time in Zinkenstill?
Michael: Don't concern yourself with hindsight. Even we couldn't predict this outcome.
Lyria: ...
Gabriel: Lyria? It's okay. This is our problem. I know you feel responsible, but—
Lyria: But what? I...
Lyria: I wanted to help everyone...
I wanted to protect everyone...
Lyria: But I caused the cataclysms!
Vyrn: H-hey! Come back, Lyria! After her, (Captain)!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 4: Stars - Episode 4

When a horde of lesser archangels renew their attack on Auguste, Farrah rouses an idle imperial garrison into action. Meanwhile the mysterious man appears before Michael and Gabriel.

Virtue Core: ...!
Agent 1: Gwaaah! Damn it! I don't wanna die!
???: Haaa!
Virtue Core: ...
Agent 1: Juri! Thanks for saving me!
Juri: I'll hold them back! Go help the civilians and the injured evacuate!
Agent 1: Yeah, got it. But don't go overboard yourself! There are too many of 'em!
Juri: Phew... Don't get impatient. Keep formation. Stay cool and assess the situation.
Juri: Since Eugen's not here, I have to calmly take command!
Juri: We can win this! I won't give up until we do!
Dominion Core: ...
Juri: ...!
Meanwhile (Captain) and the others chase after Lyria and end up back in town.
It has become a battlefield. Screams of terror mix with the sounds of archangel attacks.
Vyrn: Lyriaaa! Where are you?
Vyrn: Argh, I hate those dumb huge halos! We'll never be able to find her at this rate...
Farrah: What are you saying? Don't be stupid!
Imperial Soldier: B-but!
Vyrn: Huh? Hey, it's Farrah and Siero!
Sierokarte: (Captain)! Vyrn!
Farrah: (Captain)! Listen! The imperial army won't join the defenses!
Imperial Soldier: We've got no choice! Orders from the top haven't been issued yet. We just sent a messenger ship back to HQ.
Farrah: We can't wait that long! Juri's desperately fighting all by himself!
Imperial Soldier: Juri the deserter? He's here? And you're another deserter—
Vyrn: Humph! And we're a wanted crew too! But right now we need to work together!
Imperial Soldier: Yeah, but... We don't have the authority, damn it.
Farrah: Do you really need permission to protect someone?
Imperial Soldier: How could someone like you who quit the military understand such an admirable concept?
Farrah: It's true I left, but I'm sure of one thing. The day I do nothing is the day I stop being a skydweller!
Farrah: Oh, forget this!
Vyrn: Wait, Farrah!
So what's it gonna be, Empire Man?
Imperial Soldier: The permission to protect someone and the essence of a skydweller...
With the town in disarray, Michael and Gabriel rush toward an inescapable omen.
Michael: Tch, we made a mistake. To think he'd be converging here.
Gabriel: No, he's already surpassed our level of detection and eclipsed the primarchs.
Michael: Conceal yourself. Not even the supreme primarch stands a chance if he gets your wings. That would be the end of the world.
Gabriel: Thank you. I wish I could do that, but it looks like we're a little too late.
???: Good day to you. Shall we go for a cup of coffee?
Michael: ...!
Gabriel: Sorry, but I'll pass. You're not my kind of man.
???: And what about the one who hasn't shown himself yet? Has he no honor?
Michael: Wretch... You dare act like a god and ordain judgment?
???: He's not fit to govern the skies nor the Astral world.
Gabriel: Why not show us your true form already? I have a rough idea from when you were confined in the lab—
???: Confined? Personally I'd call it straight-out imprisonment.
???: I'm glad we had this chat. I'll do my best to end it quickly.
Michael: Get down, Gabriel! I'll decide it with one strike!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 5: Wings - Episode 1

While Rosetta and Yggdrasil investigate a mysterious voice coming from Astral ruins on Lumacie, Lyria hardens her resolve as she senses the approach of a terrifying primal beast.

As the invasion continues on Auguste, something stirs deep within the sacred grounds of Lumacie.
Rosetta: I knew there was a trick to it.
Yggdrasil: ...?
Rosetta: This disc is an Astral relic just as I thought.
Rosetta: No one else would've noticed it. This used to be some sort of recording device.
Rosetta: Perhaps it's being affected by the abnormality in the elements. If it weren't for this strange glow, even an Astral would step on it and break it.
Rosetta's investigation uncovers a relic that has gone unnoticed for many centuries.
Rosetta deciphers it and explains its significance to Yggdrasil as she thinks aloud.
Rosetta: The contents are fragmented, but it concerns the very first primal beasts.
Rosetta: None of their descendants had a clue. It was probably a conscious decision to create a buried history.
Rosetta: The Astrals were humiliated when their own creations rebelled against them.
Yggdrasil: ...?
Rosetta: Hehe, origin beasts? I like the sound of that. Now back to the rebellion...
Rosetta: The origin beasts came to the conclusion that they were the superior beings and tried to change the hierarchy.
Rosetta: But in the end the rebellion failed, and the origin beasts were imprisoned in a cage.
Rosetta: It seems some of them who hadn't taken part in the rebellion still exist somewhere, governing the skies...
Yggdrasil: ...
Rosetta: How does it connect to the cataclysms? Well, some of them were called archangels, and they had a deep relationship with the elements that keep the islands afloat.
Rosetta: I'd love to explain in greater detail, but I'll have to read more of the disc.
???: Huff... Huff...
???: Hey... Is someone there?
Rosetta: ...?
Meanwhile in Auguste Lyria calmly calls out to panicking townspeople amid the turmoil.
Lyria: Please, everyone, let's all just calm down! Town officials are guiding the evacuation—
Fleeing Man: Did you hear the news? The evac point over there just got hammered!
Fleeing Woman: This ship is full! Where should we go now?
Child: Waaah! Mama! Mamaaa!
Lyria: It's going to be fine, everyone! Calm down and form... a group...
Lyria: ...
Lyria: Sob... I knew it...
Lyria: I knew I couldn't protect anyone...
Lyria: Huh? This aura!
Lyria: ...
Lyria: I have to go! I have to do something!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 5: Wings - Episode 2

Rosetta nurses Uriel, the earth primarch, back to health. Meanwhile in Auguste, Sandalphon pushes Gabriel into a corner and attempts to snatch her wings, but she destroys her own wings with Michael's help.

Rosetta and Yggdrasil follow feeble, anguished cries to find a weakened man.
With their help he slowly shows signs of recuperation.
Rosetta: So you're Uriel of the four primarchs...
Uriel: Yeah. How humiliating. I can't believe he caught me off guard like that.
Rosetta: He's the one behind the cataclysms, isn't he? Do you know what his true form looks like?
Uriel: They say he's directly under the supreme primarch, but I'm not too sure myself. I don't know what he controls either.
Uriel: This is just hearsay, but he got assigned to some weird role that pissed him off, and now he hates the supreme primarch.
Uriel: He joined the rebellion and got sealed away for it. Now he's out and picking up where he left off. I bet he's trying to create his own perfect world.
Rosetta: Is that the story? So there's an ancient grudge behind these cataclysms.
Uriel: I let the world fall into confusion, and the wings of the primarchs got stolen in the ensuing chaos. Now he's got the power to reshape the world...
Uriel: Damn that accursed fiend! I won't rest till I've beaten the hell out of him!
Yggdrasil: ...
Uriel: Humph. I know. Shut up. I can't do a damn thing like this...
Uriel: Wait! Your core element is earth, isn't it?
Yggdrasil: ...?
A vicious shockwave rips through the air following Michael's all-out attack.
Michael: Humph... So it was you...
Michael: You were always following the supreme primarch... Sandalphon!
Gabriel: Michael!
Sandalphon: Hahaha! You push your wingless body to the limit. I thought that might've been enough to kill me.
Sandalphon: But as you can see there's not a scratch on me. I'm still getting familiar with these wings of yours.
Gabriel: You had almost no allies, Sandalphon. What happened that time at the research lab?
Sandalphon: Nothing. I guess you could say I was merely existing.
Gabriel: You weren't assigned a purpose? I've never heard of an archangel without one.
Sandalphon: Oh no, I have purpose. I'm the sacrificial pawn.
Gabriel: Sacrificial pawn?
Sandalphon: Have you ever been to the lab? Probably only up to the entrance, am I right?
Sandalphon: It was pure hell inside. Although we were self-aware, to the research team we were mere objects to be toyed with.
Sandalphon: Well, that's in the past now. Thanks to that terrifying roar I've been blessed with another chance to create the heavenly realm!
Sandalphon: As far as I'm concerned, the chance meeting between the red dragon and girl in blue was surely a sign from above.
Gabriel: I see. What about you and the supreme primarch—
Sandalphon: Wait. I'm not obligated to say any more. What are you trying to accomplish, wasting my time with these questions?
Gabriel: Oh dear, did you figure it out?
Sandalphon: I'm on the same level as Lucifer. I now feel the elements pumping within me.
Sandalphon: You have no chance of winning.
Gabriel: Is that so? I don't think you've ever fought against a winged primarch, have you?
Gabriel: All three of your victims were ambushed. Sounds to me like Mr. Heavenly Realm lacks self-confidence.
Sandalphon: Nice try, but you can't rile me up. All I care about are the results. Giving you a fighting chance does nothing for efficiency.
Gabriel: You have to make chances. Right, Michael?
Michael: You're mine!
Sandalphon: You should've been dead!
Michael: Now, Gabriel!
Gabriel: Raaah!
Sandalphon: Ugh, disgusting! But you still have no hope of besting me.
Sandalphon: What? You... What are you doing?
Sandalphon: No... You intend to destroy yourself?
Gabriel: Heh heh heh... Sorry, you lose!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 5: Wings - Episode 3

Juri draws out every last ounce of power to defeat an archangel, after which Eugen, Farrah, and imperials join to turn the tide. Sandalphon considers using Vyrn's wings in place of Gabriel's, but kidnaps Lyria instead when she gets in the way.

More powerful archangels have arrived, their destructive power pushing Juri's insufficient units to the brink.
Even so, he valiantly attempts to rally the agents.
Juri: Huff... Huff...
Dominion Core: ...!
Juri: Unit two, take flank! Three and four provide cover!
Agent 2: Gwaaah!
Agent 3: It's useless, Juri! We can't put a dent in this thing!
Juri: Settle down! Its line of sight can shift at will! I'll divert its attention while you hit it from the side!
Dominion Core: ...!
Agent 4: It's aiming for you, Juri! Get out of there!
Juri: ...!
Juri: Am I... going to die?
Juri: Yeah, guess so. I stare down the barrel of death. There's no way I can escape this.
Juri: It's all right though. I did what I could. Isn't that the best way to go out?
Juri: Father... Farrah...
Eugen... Lieutenant Galston...
Farrah: Juri...
Eugen: What's wrong?
Lieutenant Galston: Is that all you've got?
Juri: ...
Juri: I did what I could? Did I really mean that?
Juri: That's a lie. Wallowing in pretty words is absolutely worthless!
Juri: I can't die here, not when I can still get on my feet!
Juri: Screw you!
Dominion Core: ...!
Agent 3: That crazy idiot just charged right in!
Agent 4: Hahaha! I thought he dodged it, but that thing's line of sight changed. Look, it's all screwy!
Juri: You're not gonna get me, you laughable halo!
Juri: You think I'm going to perish in this obscure place? What kind of way to go out is that?
Juri: Graaah!
Dominion Core: ...
Juri: Huff... Puff... Did I get it?
Virtue Cores: ...
Juri: Geez, they're tough... Give me a break...
Eugen: Hah hah hah! That's a nice face ya got there, Juri!
Eugen: Listen up, men! Unleash a barrage and stop them in their tracks!
Juri: Eugen? Why are you here?
Agent 1: Hahaha! I tried to stop him by shoving him onto a hospital transport.
Agent 1: You see how well that worked out, and now he's back. There was no way he was gonna sit out on this one while we did the heavy lifting!
Juri: I see. Still, this enemy is no pushover—
Farrah: Hiyaaah!
Virtue Cores: ...
Imperial Soldier: All units push forward! We won't be outclassed by agents!
Juri: Farrah! You rallied the imperial forces?
Farrah: Sorry to keep you waiting, Juri! This imperial garrison is reporting for duty! We'll force the enemy back in a single push!
Juri: Affirmative! Thanks, Farrah!
Farrah and Juri: Grrraaah!
Gabriel's face is stained with intense pain from destroying her own wings.
Sandalphon: ...
Gabriel: Hahaha... I'm not going to lie—that stung a bit.
Michael: That was absurd, but thanks to you, his plans can no longer come to fruition.
Michael: Humph. What's the matter? Did all your bravado dissipate? You will be forever stuck in the supreme primarch's shadow.
Sandalphon: That was quite a dirty trick.
Sandalphon: I won't allow it to stop my plans though. I'll think of something later.
Sandalphon: Yes, I believe it's time for judgment to continue. Let me show you to the research lab. I'm sure I can find a way to make you regret your actions.
Gabriel: By all means. It's my first time.
Michael: Go ahead and try it. This isn't over.
Sandalphon: ...
Vyrn: Michael! Gabriel! What was that huge explosion? You two all right?
Sierokarte: Gasp! I-it's you! You're the one responsible for the cataclysms!
Sandalphon: Huh, you're still alive? Ah, of course. You've been helping the primarchs. No wonder Michael and Gabriel...
Sandalphon lets out a sigh and fixates on Vyrn, deep in thought.
Sandalphon: Hahaha! And you've brought me the red dragon! You're like the gift that keeps on giving!
Sandalphon: Let's see what's in those wings of yours. Is it good luck or bad luck?
Vyrn: Eep! What are you talking about? You can't take my wings!
Michael: Ridiculous. The fool's gone mad. How far will he go to usurp the supreme primarch?
Gabriel: An ulterior motive... Could it be that the heavenly realm isn't his target after all?
Sandalphon: This won't hurt a bit. As long as you stay still, it'll all be over in a flash.
Sandalphon: Now give them to me!
Sandalphon moves toward Vyrn with unnatural speed.
By the time (Captain) reacts, Vyrn's wings are already in Sandalphon's grasp.
But then a blue streak comes flying in.
Lyria: Vyrn!
Vyrn: Lyriaaa!
Sierokarte: Lyria!
Lyria appears out of nowhere, knocking Vyrn out of Sandalphon's hands. Sandalphon instantly grabs Lyria instead and pulls her up into the sky with him.
Lyria: Ngh... Let me go!
Sandalphon: Well, well, well... I was angling for a red dragon, but the girl in blue snagged my line instead.
Sandalphon: Nothing's gone right today. Which archangel oversees luck, I wonder?
Vyrn: Hey, let her go! It's my wings you're after, not her!
Sandalphon: I'll meet you at the island of earth. We'll do a trade; the girl for the dragon.
Sandalphon: I believe that's a fair deal. I'll even make you citizens of my new world.
Sandalphon: Either watch your world burn with the dragon, or live on in mine with the girl. I await your wise decision.
Lyria: (Captain)! I did a good job, didn't I? I protected Vyrn!
Lyria: I'm glad I was able to help in the end...
Vyrn: Lyriaaa!
Lyria smiles with all her might as she disappears with Sandalphon in a flash of light.
(Captain) stands with clenched fists, never once glancing away from where Lyria once was.

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 5: Wings - Episode 4

(Captain) and Vyrn swear to take back Lyria and head for the final battleground. Rackam, with Katalina and other allies in tow, finds the Grandcypher engulfed by a strange light when flying toward Auguste.

The invasion forces have been held at bay. Auguste bends but doesn't break.
While Eugen, Juri, and Farrah set to work restoring the island, Michael and Gabriel discuss the events.
Michael: What does that Sandalphon hope to achieve in the end?
Gabriel: I don't know, but my guess is the creation of a heavenly realm isn't his true objective.
Michael: Is it not?
Gabriel: It all boils down to proving his existence—stealing our wings and changing the world to prove his dominance over the supreme primarch.
Gabriel: Thinking about it that way, there's a traceable significance behind his need to hand down judgment. Again, just a guess.
Michael: But how is he connected to the supreme primarch? There must be a story behind it.
Gabriel: It's a little strange for him to say that he doesn't have a purpose. If there's more to the story, it's something that only those two would know.
Michael: Yes. In any case this matter is for the mortals to decide. (Captain)'s the only one we can entrust that to.
Gabriel: Yes, I do believe you're right.
(Captain) and Vyrn sit by the shore listening to the waves crash softly onto the sand.
Vyrn: Guess what, (Captain)? Siero found us the fastest airship she could get her hands on!
Vyrn: We'll definitely save Lyria! I'll do anything to get her back!
Vyrn: On the off chance I get caught, he'll take my wings, right?
Vyrn: What am I? What's so special about my wings? Honestly I have no idea.
Vyrn: But I ain't afraid of losin' 'em! I guess lookin' more lizard-like would be a pain though!
Vyrn: Ah-hah-hah!
  1. You don't have to fake it for me.
  2. I won't let you out of my sight.

Choose: You don't have to fake it for me.
Vyrn: Haha, no good, huh? I can't fool you, (Captain).

Choose: I won't let you out of my sight.
Vyrn: Haha, thanks. I'm countin' on you, buddy.
Continue 1
Vyrn: I want to be useful, she said.
I want to protect someone, she said.
Vyrn: Lyria didn't have to rush things. She was already helping us so much, wasn't she?
Vyrn: Not because of her primal beast powers, but because her smile and attitude brought out the best in everyone.
Vyrn: ...
Vyrn: (Captain)... I miss Lyria...
Vyrn: Red, blue, origin beasts, archangels... I don't care 'bout any o' that! I just want to be with you and Lyria!
  1. Me too.
  2. Let's settle this.

Choose: Me too.
Vyrn: All right! Let's switch gears and go after her!

Choose: Let's settle this.
Vyrn: Aw yeah! Let's go kick his butt!
Continue 2
Vyrn: Rosetta should be in Lumacie already.
Vyrn: All we have to do is work together, and we'll get Lyria back.
The airship obtained by Siero is finally ready, and (Captain)'s group boards for Lumacie.
Meanwhile on the Grandcypher...
Katalina: How much farther, Rackam?
Rackam: Don't get antsy, Katalina. We're going at full speed. Auguste should be coming into view soon.
Katalina: I see. Sorry.
Io: Don't worry! (Captain)'s always reliable, and even Siero's with them now!
Rackam: Yep. You should rest while you've got the chance—
Katalina: What was the strange light?
Rackam: I don't know, but look sharp. Something's heading our way!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 6: Beasts - Episode 1

Lyria dreams of Sandalphon's past—of his frustration, suffering, and despair at his very own existence. When she awakens, she sees Rosetta, who has snuck in to find her.

Lyria: What is this?
Lyria: A dream? Someone's memories? It's all flowing into me...
Sandalphon: Lucifer! You were here all along!
Lucifer: Sandalphon. All is well, I take it?
Sandalphon: Yes. Nothing's changed regarding me nor the research lab.
Sandalphon: Oh, but there is one thing...
Lucifer: What is it? Are you still contemplating your purpose?
Sandalphon: Yes. It weighs heavily on my mind. Why haven't I been given one after all this time?
Sandalphon: The equilibrium of the tetra-elements... The repulsion of hostile enemies...
Sandalphon: All archangels have been given a purpose so that they may support you as you govern evolution. And yet all I do is pass each day in peace and quiet.
Lucifer: How many times must I repeat myself? That is not something you should be concerned with.
Sandalphon: But...
Sandalphon: ...
Sandalphon: I just want to be useful to you...
Lucifer: Hello, my friend. May I speak with you? It's about Sandalphon.
???: Looks like you've been keeping a sharp eye on him. You're making the other archangels jealous.
Lucifer: I created him as you instructed me to, but even I don't understand his purpose.
Lucifer: Isn't it time for you to reveal that to me? For what reason was he created?
???: I hadn't told you because for the time being it wasn't important. Very well.
???: He's your spare in case something happens to you, and you become unable to fulfill your duties.
???: The idea was for him to awaken temporarily to fill in for you until you fully recovered.
Lucifer: A spare to act as a substitute?
???: Heh heh heh. Realistically speaking, that won't be necessary.
???: You've far surpassed my wildest dreams. You exist on a higher plane. Sandalphon is useless.
???: That scrap will be disposed of at an appropriate time. I suppose you may keep him if you've grown attached to him.
Lucifer: ...
???: Now enough about that. I'd like your opinion on a new specimen. Come. It's in the new wing.
Lucifer: Understood...
Sandalphon: I'm useless scrap? How could I be nothing more than Lucifer's backup?
Sandalphon: It must be a lie... But then just what the hell is the meaning of my existence?
Sandalphon: ...!
Lyria: Unh? Why am I here?
Sandalphon: Rise and shine. You lost consciousness.
Lyria: You!
Sandalphon: Would you like some coffee? I'm afraid I'm all out of sugar unfortunately.
Lyria awakes in the wilds of Lumacie. Sandalphon is also there, not too far away.
Lyria: No, thank you. Um, what's going on here?
Sandalphon: This is where I—no, where we were created. There used to be an Astral research lab here.
Sandalphon: I must say your... form wasn't exactly what I had expected, oh girl in blue.
Lyria: What do you mean by form? Do you know something about me?
Sandalphon: Well, more than you think I do. But in any case, that has nothing to do with the matters at hand.
Sandalphon: Soon the story of the skies and Astrals will end, and a new tale of creation will be told.
Lyria: N-no! Our story won't end!
Sandalphon: Hm?
Lyria: (Captain)'s super, super strong!
Lyria: It doesn't matter how painful or sad things get; (Captain) can say anything to move anyone's heart!
Lyria: I've been cheered up so many times by those words, and I always will be.
Lyria: (Captain) is amazing! I won't let you think less of my captain!
Sandalphon: And that's why (Captain) will come according to my predictions.
Lyria: ...
Sandalphon: Whatever. Wait and see. You can cry if you want.
Lyria: I won't cry!
Sandalphon: Heh.
Lyria: Oh... (Captain)... Vyrn... Everyone...
Rosetta: Lyria.
Lyria: Huh? Rosetta—
Rosetta: Shh. Just wait a little longer. Don't worry. I'll get you out of there.
Sandalphon: ...

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 6: Beasts - Episode 2

(Captain), Vyrn, Michael, and Gabriel face off against Sandalphon at the Cape of Lumacie. Borrowing Uriel's power, Yggdrasil reflects Sandalphon's attack back at him, allowing Lyria to run back to the crew.

(Captain) and company arrive at the location where the trade-off is supposed to take place.
Sandalphon appears from the brush with Lyria in his custody.
Lyria: Sniff... You all came...
Vyrn: Lyria! It's gonna be fine! Just hang on!
Sandalphon: Greetings. It seems all parties are here. You even brought primarchs with you.
Michael: Cease feigning sincerity. Obviously our powers are all gone.
Gabriel: We have an obligation to observe evolution in all its forms, so show us what the future has in store for this world.
Sandalphon: Heh. You're awfully dedicated to your job at a time like this.
Sandalphon: (Captain). You came for the trade, yes?
  1. Deal's off.
  2. I came to stop you.

Choose: Deal's off.
Sandalphon: Oh? Then why are you standing before me?

Choose: I came to stop you.
Sandalphon: Oh? And how do you hope to accomplish that?
Continue 1
Sandalphon: Do you seriously think you can take her back by force?
Sandalphon: Haven't you been listening? Lucifer is the only one who is even capable of standing up to me.
Michael: Don't be conceited. You can't handle the powers you stole.
Sandalphon: I'm perfectly acquainted with how they work now. I'll admit they're quite wild.
Sandalphon: In fact, forget Lucifer. The only one who can hurt me... is me.
Gabriel: Hm... In that case you won't be needing the dragon's wings anymore.
Sandalphon: No, but I'll take them anyway. As high in the sky as Lucifer is, I want to go higher and see for myself what it feels like to reign supreme over even the gods.
Vyrn: Humph, listen to you! Lucifer this, Lucifer that! That's all you ever talk about!
Sandalphon: Ngh...
Lyria: Didn't you want to help Lucifer?
Sandalphon: What?
Sandalphon: You... What did you see? I said, what did you see?
Michael: Huh? He's suddenly lost his composure.
Gabriel: Keep talking, Lyria!
Lyria: Okay! Um...
Lyria: It feels like... he wants to be respected. He wants to be loved and comforted.
Lyria: There's something else too... He wants to be forgiven—
Lyria: Eeek!
Sandalphon: That's enough. I've changed my mind.
Sandalphon: The dragon will watch as it gets carved up, piece by piece, and I will shove the morsels down each and every one of your throats. Now that's a fun last supper.
Vyrn: Aaah!
Vyrn: He's coming, (Captain)!
Rosetta: Now, Lyria!
Lyria: Got it, Rosetta!
Vyrn: Rosetta? You were hiding there the entire time?
Sandalphon: I already knew that. But it doesn't matter what you do. It was nice talking to you, girl in blue!
Rosetta: Here he comes! Stop him, Uriel! Yggdrasil!
Yggdrasil: ...!
Yggdrasil: ...!
Yggdrasil repels the full brunt of Sandalphon's attack with a powerful aura she has never experienced before.
Sandalphon: Impossible! This must be Uriel's barrier!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 6: Beasts - Episode 3

The injured Sandalphon spreads his wings as a new primarch in an attempt to bring the world to its knees. Just then Rackam's group arrives, ready to launch a special attack with the Grandcypher.

Thanks to Rosetta's clever plan, Sandalphon suffers blowback from his own attack.
In that brief opening, Lyria dashes back to the crew and grabs (Captain)'s hand.
Lyria: Huff... Huff... (Captain), I—
Vyrn: Haha! That was a bold move, Lyria! I'm glad you're back with us though.
Rosetta: Hey, you three, don't get ahead of yourselves. Sandalphon's still alive.
Lyria: Was that Yggdrasil's power just now?
Rosetta: She borrowed some from Uriel. It worked because they're both earth users.
Uriel: Phew... Huff... It was a long shot, but looks like he fell for it.
Yggdrasil: ...!
Michael: Hahaha! Most commendable, Uriel. You were always one for well-laid traps.
Gabriel: He wasn't lying when he said only he can hurt himself.
Sandalphon: Tch!
Sandalphon: That's a disgusting style of yours, Uriel. Is that how you intend to fight me?
Uriel: Shut your mouth, idiot! I'll bust that pretty face of yours!
Sandalphon: Hah! Not only are you a fool, you're an incorrigible brat.
Sandalphon: I had hoped to avoid any senseless injuries before creating the heavenly realm.
Sandalphon: You lot have really done it now.
Lyria: He spread his wings! There are so many of them!
Vyrn: Oh crap! He's turned into a giant!
Sandalphon hovers in the sky above with numerous wings sprouting from his back.
Like a visage from the creation myth, his body dwarfs any normal-sized airship.
Sandalphon: Shall we continue? Let the bell of war sound!
Michael: What is this aura? He is neither monster nor archangel now!
Gabriel: All the wings have mixed together. It's like he's become some kind of abomination!
Lyria: What are we going to do? The islands won't last long at this rate!
Vyrn: Darn it! At least put up a fair fight! Get down here, you coward!
Yggdrasil: ...?
Rosetta: What is it, Yggdrasil? Did you notice something?
Rosetta: Hm, I see. Looks like those tenacious kiddos have arrived.
Uriel: Tenacious who? And why are you laughing at a time like this?
Katalina: Lyria!
Lyria: Katalina?
Lyria: Look up, (Captain)! It's the Grandcypher!
Vyrn: It's them! Hey, we're down here! Over here!
Vyrn: Uh, hold up. Is it just me, or is the ship not stopping? In fact I think it's getting faster...
Lyria: It's heading straight for Sandalphon!
Vyrn: What! What the heck are they doing? They're gonna crash right into him!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 6: Beasts - Episode 4

With Raphael's help the crew uses the Grandcypher to launch a devastating attack on Sandalphon. (Captain) and company prepare for the final battle against Sandalphon.

The Grandcypher accelerates toward Sandalphon.
(Captain)'s comrades stand on the bow, eyes forward as the wind whips past them.
Katalina: I won't let you get away with hurting Lyria, Sandalphon!
Rackam: I don't know about this god or archangel business, but I promised Lyria that I'd always come to her rescue!
Io: Yeah! We took care of those halo things and now you're next!
Eugen: Ya got that right! Yer gonna pay hard for what you've done!
Lyria: No! Are Katalina and the others really going to crash into him?
Vyrn: That's way too crazy! That's not gonna solve anything!
Raphael: That's not true.
Michael: Raphael! What have you been—
Raphael: Only primarchs can settle the void created by primarchs.
Raphael: From the sky the winds come forth!
Rackam: We've got a good tailwind! Haha, now this is what I call wind power!
Katalina: This is Raphael's doing! We can pierce through Sandalphon with this!
Sandalphon: Tch... Now Raphael decides to crash the party?
Io: Heh heh! How careless—he didn't even notice until it was too late!
Eugen: Hah hah hah! This is great, Raphael! When this is all over, I'll buy ya a drink!
Rackam: We're like a needle traveling in a current! Who knows when the slightest bump will toss us out!
Rackam: Hang in there, Grandcypher! We're putting our faith in you!
Sandalphon: Graaugh!
Rosetta: They got him! He's coming down!
Vyrn: Awesome! But how's the ship?
Lyria: Um... I think it's okay! It's only wobbling a little.
Raphael: Now for the final push.
Raphael: I will transfer you to the ship. A third attack should put an end to him.
Michael: Raphael... Have you been waiting and watching just to unleash this counterattack of yours?
Gabriel: Hahaha. I know you're proud of your regeneration abilities, but you sure healed quickly even for you.
Uriel: Listen up, mortals. You go up to him, and smash his stupid face!
Vyrn: You don't have to tell us twice! We got this!
Lyria: Yes! For this world and everyone living in it...
Lyria: We will defend it with our lives!
Raphael: How spirited.
Michael: Fly, dwellers of the sky!
Lyria: We'll be back!
A viridian light envelopes Lyria and the others as they are whisked away to the Grandcypher. Their final battle is about to begin.

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 7: God - Episode 1

Having lost the wings he tore from the four primarchs, Sandalphon in turn loses his special powers. As if coming to his senses, he appears repentant and apologizes to the crew.

Though the battle against Sandalphon is intense, (Captain) and company emerge victorious and land on a cape.
Sandalphon crashes to the ground. His wings are gone, having returned to their respective primarchs.
Michael: It's over, Sandalphon. Your schemes have crumbled into dust.
Sandalphon: ...
Raphael: Gabriel, I will heal your back.
Gabriel: Hehe, thanks. It'd be great to get my figure back.
Uriel: Hey, loser. You ready for your punishment?
Sandalphon: Of course...
Sandalphon: Why did I go this far? I can't really explain it myself.
Sandalphon: Maybe it was my imprisonment in the labs. Or maybe it was all the time sealed away in that cage. Either way my soul festered.
Sandalphon: I truly am a deplorable wretch. Perhaps this was the worst way to fight against my fate. I was destined to be a useless, discarded pawn.
Lyria: ...
Katalina: Hm? What's wrong, Lyria?
Lyria: Um, excuse me!
Sandalphon: Yes?
Lyria: I understand what it's like to feel useless.
Lyria: Sandalphon really wanted to help Lucifer.
Lyria: But then his heart was trampled by that Astral researcher.
Lyria: We can't just wipe away what Sandalphon's done, but we should keep in mind that he was probably just another victim of the Astrals.
Io: Oh yeah, you saw that in his memories.
Michael: You think of him as a victim? That's a strange point of view.
Rackam: So what now? We can't just let him go.
Gabriel: You're right. The supreme primarch will have the final say.
Sandalphon: Fine. I will accept any punishment handed down to me.
Sandalphon: (Captain). Will you at least allow me a handshake?
Sandalphon: I want to show my respect to the one who protected the dragon and the maiden. You who has been lauded by the four primarchs.
  1. Of course.
  2. Why should I?

Choose: Of course.
Sandalphon: Thank you.

Choose: Why should I?
Sandalphon: Humph. Don't be so cold. It's fine, come on.
Continue 1
(Captain) steps toward Sandalphon and grasps his hand.
Sandalphon leans in quietly and whispers into (Captain)'s ear.
Sandalphon: Your fingers are delicate.
Sandalphon: You haven't realized it yet, but the world revolves around you. Because you are the singularity for the acceleration of evolution.
Sandalphon: I'm glad we had this chat. Have a safe trip.
Lyria: Huh?
Vyrn: Aaah!
With a quick shove on the shoulder, Sandalphon sends (Captain) careening off the cape.
Sandalphon: Bwahahaha! Disappointing! Oh so disappointing!
Sandalphon: It doesn't matter how strong you are! You're still only mortal! That body of yours is your greatest weakness—
Sandalphon: ...!
Michael: Wretch! After him, Uriel!
Uriel: Can we make it? Damn it, we're not going to make it!
Michael and Uriel dive as fast as they can as (Captain) falls toward the bottom of the skies.
Meanwhile Raphael keeps Sandalphon restrained.
Raphael: That was a stupid thing to do. Why drag this out?
Sandalphon: Heh, heh heh. I want to watch a world that doesn't need me burn.
Gabriel: Such garbage spews from your infantile mouth.
Io: Sob... (Captain)!
Eugen: Damn it! Even archangels can't match that speed!
A heavy gloom falls on the crew. No one has the strength to speak any more.
They peer off the cape, desperately scanning for any signs of (Captain), who has disappeared into the clouds.
Lyria: This isn't the end, is it, (Captain)? You'll be okay, won't you?
Lyria: You'll call my name with a smile on your face like you always do...
Lyria: You'll look me in the eye when things are tough and tell me it's okay to make me feel better.
Lyria: Now it's my turn! I will save you!
Vyrn: I can't believe you're gone...
Vyrn: We were supposed to go to Estalucia together! We were supposed to meet your dad!
Vyrn: Our journey's not over by a long shot! How am I supposed to keep going without you?
Vyrn: I'm definitely gonna—
Gabriel: This rumbling! It's just like that time on Zinkenstill!
Sandalphon: Bwahahaha! Yes! Call forth the roar again! Let it reverberate across the sky!
Sandalphon: Open the doors of the cage and free the original primal beasts!
Raphael: Stop! You must not use that power!
Gabriel: The world will be consumed by evil primal beasts as Sandalphon would have done!
Lyria: ...!
Vyrn: But we've got to!
Katalina: It's fine, Lyria! If it's to save (Captain), then you two do what you must!
Lyria: Katalina!
Rackam: Give it all you got! Origin beasts or not, we'll take on whatever comes!
Vyrn: Rackam!
Io: You can do it, you two! Whatever happens, we'll solve it together!
Eugen: Damn right! You young ones needn't worry about debts left by the older generation!
Rosetta: Hehehe... It's like everyone says. Let us deal with the consequences!
Lyria and Vyrn nod in unison and lose themselves to the task at hand.
Lyria: ...!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 8: The One - Episode 1

During the fall a mysterious presence manifests and calls (Captain) a singularity, wishing to know the extent of (Captain)'s power and determination.

The clear blue sky stretches out as far as the eye can see.
How much time has passed? Has it been hours or mere seconds?
Up is down and right is left. All sense of time is gone.
Lingering in (Captain)'s head are visions of Vyrn, Lyria, and everyone else in the crew.
Vyrn: Say, are you serious about leavin' the village?
Lyria: You should have seen it, Katalina! This hero saved me! It was so... heroic!
Katalina: Thank goodness she hasn't been injured. Have you two been protecting her?
Rackam: If you plan on calling yourself a crew, you'd need at least one helmsman on board before anything got started.
Io: Nice to meet you... I guess I owe you one. Thanks.
Eugen: Hey! Nice work. You caught the ragtag bunch, eh?
Rosetta: Oh, I've gone and frightened you... little old me! You see I'm but a poor, defenseless woman.
Countless precious memories flood through (Captain)'s mind as consciousness gradually fades away.
A mysterious roar sounds, and a voice speaks to (Captain).
Great One: Child of the Sky...
Great One: I am the dawn and dusk of creation. I have come to you as you near the brink of death.
Great One: The time has come to test your strength and resolve as a singularity.
The gravitas and divinity felt from each breath compels obedience.
Great One: As a singularity you are one of the seeds holding sway over the fate of the world.
Great One: The contrasting fates of the red dragon and the girl in blue by your side will bring about much hardship.
Great One: Much like the cataclysms the world has just overcome.
Great One: Knowing that, you still reach for the ends of the skies?
  1. Absolutely.
  2. I don't believe in fate.

Choose: Absolutely.
Great One: ...
Great One: The intertwining fates of the two will ultimately bring about the ruin of all worlds.

Choose: I don't believe in fate.
Great One: To believe or to deny is your choice; regret will come either way.
Great One: The intertwining fates of the two will ultimately bring about the ruin of all worlds.
Continue 1
Great One: Whom will you choose when that time comes? Your crimson friend or the one who shares your soul?
  1. I'll save both of them.
  2. That time will never come.

Choose: I'll save both of them.
Great One: What a bold thing to say.

Choose: That time will never come.
Great One: What a strange thing to say.
Continue 2
Great One: And now for my final question.
Great One: What is it that drives your conviction? How do you so fearlessly embark on this journey toward destruction?
  1. My friends make all the difference.
  2. I'm not alone.

Choose: My friends make all the difference.
Great One: I suppose that is what gives you strength as a singularity.

Choose: I'm not alone.
Great One: I suppose that is what gives you strength as a singularity.
Continue 3
Great One: Such childish resolve... Such frail strength...
Great One: And yet I cannot deny the possibility that lies within...
Lyria: Open your eyes!
Vyrn: Wake up!
Lyria: Please, (Captain)! We need you!
Vyrn: Don't give up yet, (Captain)!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 8: The One - Episode 2

(Captain) awakens on Lumacie to the sight of overjoyed friends. Sandalphon, on the other hand, is beset by rage at the utter failure of his plan—that's when the supreme primarch, Lucifer, appears.

Lyria: Ah! (Captain)'s awake!
Vyrn: Phew! You almost gave me a heart attack back there, (Captain)!
(Captain) wakes up at the cape—as if the fall had never happened.
Surrounded by relieved and overjoyed friends, (Captain) breathes a sigh of relief.
Lyria: Sniff... Sniff... I-I don't know what to...
  1. I'm back.
  2. Crybaby Lyria.

Choose: I'm back.
Lyria: Yes!
Welcome back, (Captain)!
Vyrn: Hehe. Good to see you up and about, sleepyhead!

Choose: Crybaby Lyria.
Lyria: O-of course I'm crying! How could I not be? Hey, what's so funny?
Vyrn: Ahaha! Crying one second, fuming the next—you're having a busy day!
Continue 1
Katalina: (Captain)... I knew you still had it in you.
Rackam: Hahaha! You definitely had us on edge there. So... what happened at the bottom of the skies?
Io: How strange. I thought I saw Vyrn and Lyria summon something.
Io: Then the the next moment (Captain)'s sleeping like a baby on the cape.
Eugen: Hah hah hah! Nothin' wrong with that, is there? (Captain)'s alive, and that's what matters.
Rosetta: Hehe, looks like even this 2000-year old archangel is confused.
Sandalphon: How could this be!
Sandalphon: The terrifying roar shook the world! Why hasn't Pandemonium been opened?
Sandalphon: Is there some other condition I don't know about? Or has the situation changed since I was last in there?
Sandalphon: Why, why, why!
Michael: Silence yourself. You're obviously out of options.
Uriel: Want me to shut him up for you? I'll have to hold back this time though so I don't accidentally kill him.
Gabriel: Leave him. He does bring up some good points though... Did we simply luck out, or is there more to it all?
Raphael: There is only one possibility...
Brilliant rays of light suddenly surge from the bottom of the skies and pierce through the island, extending far into the welkin.
An archangel gently ascends from the rays of light, softly flapping his wings on the way up.
Michael: The supreme primarch!
Lucifer: Michael, Gabriel, Uriel, Raphael...
Lucifer: You've done well. I appreciate all your hard work.
Lyria: Oh my! I've never seen them like that!
Vyrn: So that's the supreme primarch... His aura's just incredible!
Sandalphon: Lucifer!
Lucifer: Sandalphon.

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 8: The One - Episode 3

Lucifer foresaw what would come to pass and worked behind the scenes to foil Sandalphon's plot. He absorbs Sandalphon into his own core, thanks (Captain) and company for their efforts, then disappears with the other primarchs.

The eyes of Lucifer and Sandalphon lock in an intense gaze.
Sandalphon: So you've already manifested. I suppose that's also why Pandemonium won't open up.
Lucifer: Yes, I held in the core of the seal on Pandemonium.
Sandalphon: Hah hah hah... So you saw this coming...
Sandalphon: You ignored my rampage and kept watch on Pandemonium this whole time...
Sandalphon: Mwahaha! Am I so worthless to you that I'm not even worth confronting?
Lucifer: That's not it. Archangels are forbidden from interacting with the Otherworld. I simply fulfilled my duty.
Sandalphon: That's exactly the problem with you! You always filter out the things you don't care about! How could you possibly understand the suffering of those deemed worthless!
Sandalphon: Those of us who get filtered out have no choice but to take things by force!
Lucifer: ...
Sandalphon: It could've been anyone. Anyone at all.
Sandalphon: I just wanted one person in the world to tell me that I matter—that I'm needed!
Sandalphon: Do you even know what that's like? Someone like you born out of necessity and looked up to by all the archangels could never fathom that pain!
Sandalphon: I don't care if the whole world hates me!
Sandalphon: I...
Lyria: (Captain)... Sandalphon...
Lyria tightly grasps (Captain)'s clothing with trembling fingers.
Lucifer: Sandalphon... So I see the discovery of your purpose is what caused you to close off your heart.
Sandalphon: Humph... Call me childish if you wish.
Lucifer: You brought me peace of mind every time I came by the lab.
Lucifer: Your lack of a role allowed me to look upon you as my equal. Your purehearted words would always instill me with such tranquility.
Sandalphon: ...!
Lucifer: Forgive me for not noticing your feelings of inferiority earlier.
Sandalphon: Stop it! Don't think I believe this farce for even a second!
Sandalphon: But it's too late to make amends now! Hate me! Destroy me! Punish me! If you forgive me, my last 2000 years will have been for naught...
Lucifer: I am no less guilty, and so I deserve equal punishment.
Lucifer: Take solace in my core, Sandalphon.
Sandalphon: Lucifer—
Sandalphon turns into an infinite number of tiny particles of light before being absorbed into Lucifer's wings.
Michael: Is it over now?
Lucifer: Yes.
Lucifer: (Captain), I thank you for stopping my fellow archangel before it was too late.
Lyria: Um... So what happened to Sandalphon in the end?
Lucifer: He has returned to my core. Think of it... as a baby returning to its cradle.
Lyria: Huh?
Lucifer: We shall meet again. Until then continue forth on the path you believe is true.
Michael: I applaud your efforts in stopping this whole mess. I'd love to spar with you next time we meet.
Gabriel: Teehee... Silly Michael. Bye, everyone. Hope to see you again!
Uriel: You guys rocked hard back there! We'd have such an awesome battle if it ever came to that!
Raphael: Safe travels and fortuitous winds to you.
The primarchs vanish one after another...
Leaving an awestruck crew on the cape.

What Makes the Sky Blue - Chapter 8: The One - Episode 4

With peace restored to the world and reconstruction under way, (Captain), Vyrn, and Lyria continue their glorious adventure across the skies.

Arusha: What a relief. It's a miracle that only a few volumes were damaged in that attack!
Johann: Yeah. Thanks to my barrier, you know...
Arusha: What's that, Johann? Did you forget that you have to make up for breaking the lock on the secret archives?
Arusha: First I want you to pick up all the books on the floor and put them back on the shelves. In the right place!
Johann: Sigh... How many days is that going to take?
Johann: Hm? Whoa, this text is amazing!
Johann: You're the best, Hall of Knowledge!
Tycoon: Impossible! I lost my fortune in just a single night!
Richard: You have no one to blame but yourself. Putting stock in baseless rumors is one thing, but putting a bounty on a brave young lady?
Tycoon: Wait! You're not going to get away with this!
Richard: Oh? Trying to take back your losses by force? That's not—
Therese: That's not smart! Hah hah! Come at me! I've got tons of arena experience. We'll settle this with a duel!
Tycoon: You're the undefeated champion, Therese!
Richard: Uh, Therese? Please don't steal my thunder like that...
Stan: Graaah!
Juri: Yaaah!
Stan: Huff... Huff... Man, you've got spirit!
Juri: Bleh... Huff.... Same to you, Mr. Stan. When did you get so good with the sword?
Stan: Just call me Stan. I'm self-taught, Juri—Oops, can I call you Juri?
Juri: Of course!
So you're self-taught. I suppose I should adopt more of my own style too!
Stan: How about another match?
Stan: Dorya—
Aliza: Doryaaa!
Stan: Augh!
Juri: Stan?
Aliza: What are you doing? You're supposed to be helping with the reconstruction!
Aliza: Come on, let's go! The mines are waiting, dummy duo!
Stan: Y-yes, Aliza...
Juri: Sorry, ma'am...
Sierokarte: Welcome! We're currently running a limited-time sale on all weapons and armor made from halo crystals!
Farrah: C-come on in! We've got some hot items for you!
Farrah: Say, Siero. Why are you selling this creepy stuff? It looks like it's about to come alive at any minute.
Sierokarte: Don't you worry your pretty little head. This is just a trader's way of helping with the restoration, Farrakarte.
Sierokarte: We're recycling, bringing in tourists, and donating some sales proceeds to the town! That's three birds for one stone!
Farrah: Oh, I get it! Business is a really deep topic. I've got to keep studying!
Farrah: No, wait... Siero, I hope you know I have no intention of becoming a trader!
Every island is busy with repair efforts now that buoyancy has stabilized.
The Grandcypher has also undergone maintenance and is currently performing test runs before taking to the skies.
Rackam: Hahaha! Excellent, excellent! The engine's humming beautifully!
Katalina: Hehehe. That's a relief, considering what we made the Grandcypher go through.
Eugen: Hah hah hah! That's the first time we've had to push the Grandcypher so hard! I sure as heck wouldn't wanna repeat it!
Io: Hm? But weren't you romping about with excitement? You and Rackam both.
Rosetta: Oooh, this looks fun. We might not be able to go as fast as the archangels, but let's try to feel the rush of the wind.
(Captain), Vyrn, and Lyria sit on the bow staring off into the vast azure blue.
Lyria: Hey, why is the sky blue?
Vyrn: Huh? That's a weird thing to ask all of a sudden.
Lyria: Ahaha... Well...
Lyria: I never really gave much thought to things that are obvious until now.
Lyria: Looking at it again makes me realize how beautiful it is. The size of it all is a little scary actually.
Lyria: That's just me anyway.
Vyrn: Haha, what are you talkin' about? It's like you're a rookie skyfarer.
Vyrn: But after all those awful cataclysms, I get why you'd feel as if things had returned to the beginning.
Lyria: The beginning... Yes, it does kind of feel like when we first started our journey.
Lyria: Once the islands have been restored, everyone's sure to come back to the crew!
Vyrn: Yep! Then we can get back to the real adventure!
Lyria: Teehee. Let's do our best! Right, (Captain)?
The rumblings felt around the world have passed, and the crew once again sets out for the ends of the skies.
Whatever hardships may arise, or whatever mysteries seem unsolvable, they believe in each other to overcome any obstacles.

What Makes the Sky Blue - Wyvern Reverie

Lucifer shows up during a celebration aboard the Grandcypher. To verify the power and determination of the singularity that is (Captain), he brings forth the Wyvern Reverie.

Vyrn: Snore... Diz iz my apple... Snore...
Lyria: Zzz... Yeah... Yeah... Yeah... Zzz...
Several months have passed since the cataclysms ended. Reconstruction efforts have concluded, and the islands are as they once were.
All members of the crew have returned to the Grandcypher, and their grand journey is finally ready to continue.
That night a huge party of merriment and joy is thrown to mark the occasion.
They indulge like children on the last day of school and soon fall asleep without realizing it.
But the night is still young.
Is this... some sort of a dream?
Lucifer: No, it's not a dream, though I hesitate to call it reality either.
Lucifer: Good evening. I am the one who invited you to this place. You must surely be surprised to suddenly find yourself here.
Lucifer: Sandalphon and the primarchs have caused you great pains.
Lucifer: I offer my heartfelt apology to the skydwellers. And to you I extend my deepest gratitude and respect.
  1. Don't worry about it.
  2. We done here?

Choose: Don't worry about it.
Lucifer: I see. I'm sure it will hearten the others to hear that.

Choose: We done here?
Lucifer: Well, my apology is at least.

Lucifer: Now for the real topic at hand. Do you remember what happened that time?
Lucifer: Perhaps I should put it this way: as the singularity who controls the fate of the world...
Lucifer: You spoke with the great one, and your strength and resolve were brought into question.
Lucifer: You answered that your friends were the source of your power.
Lucifer: Those friends you spoke of are all gathered here today. Now show me the worth of your words.
Lucifer snaps his fingers and the fog lifts, revealing the figures of the crew standing on a nearby hill.
Vyrn: Huh? Where am I? Am I dreaming?
Lyria: But everyone's gathered here too. This is really strange...
Lyria: Oh, it's (Captain)!
Lucifer: Heh. The stage is set. Let us begin.
Lucifer: Prove your might and resolve! The Wyvern's Reverie has come!

What Makes the Sky Blue - Wyvern Reverie: Scene 2

After overcoming Lucifer's challenge, Vyrn and Lyria awaken and discuss the strange dream they just saw. In (Captain)'s hand, however, is a white feather—a sign that the dream may have been very real after all.

At Lucifer's behest the crew overcomes the Wyvern's Reverie.
Lucifer offers a gentle smile at the utterly exhausted combatants.
Lucifer: Indeed...
Lucifer: The strength of the bonds you forge as you fight to protect and better each other is far greater than what any one individual could ever hope to achieve.
Lucifer: Mortals... Ah, the evolution of the skies has come a long way...
Lucifer: ...
  1. You look pleased with yourself.
  2. Is the test over?

Choose: You look pleased with yourself.
Lucifer: Yes, this has been my wish for thousands of years. Someday I shall explain it to you properly.
Lucifer: When that time comes, the events of tonight will become clear. It will be a joyous occasion.

Choose: Is the test over?
Lucifer: Yes, that will do. Congratulations. You deserve the highest praise.

Lucifer: Let us meet again. Until then blessings upon your journey.
Lucifer: ...
Lucifer: The world goes on with the singularity now set... We must settle our dispute in due time.
Lucifer: Isn't that right, my dear friend, Lucilius?
Day breaks on the Grandcypher.
(Captain) wakes up and is greeted by a groggy Vyrn and Lyria.
Vyrn: Yaaawn.
Vyrn: Wow, it's late. Everyone overslept today.
Lyria: Nggh... I guess we partied too much last night.
Vyrn: Yeah, maybe. But I feel like I'm all tired because of that weird dream I had.
Lyria: Oh! Actually I had a strange dream too. Hm, I can't remember what it was about though...
Vyrn: Really? My mind's gone blank too...
Vyrn: Huh? What's that in your hand, (Captain)?
Vyrn's observation catches (Captain) by surprise.
(Captain)'s fist unclenches to reveal a single pure-white plume.
Lyria: Wow! What a beautiful feather! It glows like a rainbow!
Vyrn: You got that right! It looks like a jewel to me. Where'd you get it from?
(Captain)'s head tilts to the side in confusion. For the time being, (Captain) hands the feather to Lyria.
Lyria: Teehee... Thank you!
Lyria: Well? How does it look?
The series of tumultuous events surrounding the cataclysms has for the moment come to a conclusion.
The original primal beasts...

The supreme primarch, Lucifer...
And the Astral researcher...

So much has been uncovered.
Although the road ahead contains many twists and turns, there's an extra beat in the hearts of each crew member.
Where the ends of the vast blue lie is still a mystery.
