Our Tomorrow
Following the Peisma incident, Berceau and Olivia apologize for concealing their true identities as fallen angels, yet the crew thanks them for their help and expresses a desire to continue traveling together. Berceau and Olivia happily accept.
Berceau: Fallen angels—beings created by Astrals, yet who turned against them.
Olivia: Foolish, pitiful beings, imprisoned in Pandemonium while their strings were pulled from the shadows.
Berceau: Over time, long-laid conspiracies eventually brought Pandemonium to ruin.
Olivia: The fallen angels imprisoned there were converted into energy, becoming precipian entities.
Berceau: Berceau, one of those fallen angels, tried to stop the spread of the precipian entities by incubating an enormous amount of that energy within herself...
Berceau: And with new power gained from the wedges, she succeeded in sealing away the precipian entities as their "lock."
Olivia: Olivia, originally a fallen angel whose true body joined the other precipian entities, gained the power of the "key" to help sustain the seal as Berceau's counterpart.
Olivia: Someday, they hope to finally grant their brethren, now turned into precipian entities, a meaningful end.
Some time has passed since the commotion caused by Peisma.
After revealing their true identities as fallen angels during the incident, Olivia and Berceau bow their heads to the crew.
Berceau: Forgive us... We should have told you the truth about who we are, but things ended up coming out in a messy way...
Olivia: We've been less than honest about our true selves for all this time. I admit that was wrong.
Olivia: Berceau aside, I was also hoping I could use you to help release our brethren imprisoned in Pandemonium.
Olivia: There was always the risk you'd get caught up in our problems. In fact, you were caught up in them...
Berceau: Erm! It wasn't all Olivia's fault!
Berceau: Though it was with a temporary body, Olivia was the only one able to leave Pandemonium, so she tried to help our brethren all on her own...
Berceau: And because she had to shoulder the burden alone, your crew suffered too, (Captain).
Olivia: No, it was my decision. I'm the one who bears the responsibility for deceiving you.
Berceau: No! It's not just your fault, Olivia! It's mine—it's all of ours!
- Stooop!
Choose: Stooop!Berceau: Ah! O-okay!
The pair snap to attention and face (Captain), who urges them to calm down.
Olivia: Sorry, I got carried away...
Olivia: Either way, we involved you in our troubles. We have to take responsibility for that.
Berceau: We know what we did wasn't right. So if you or your crew wishes to condemn us...
Vyrn: H-hold on a sec! "Condemn" is way too strong of a word!
Vyrn: Sure, it was a real shock learnin' you two are fallen angels and all.
Lyria: But you already told us you were primal beasts... and fallen angels are just primal beasts from a long time ago, right?
Berceau: Yes, that's right. We're primal beasts by nature, and those of us who rebelled against the Astrals became known as fallen angels.
Lyria: Exactly! So you can't really say you were lying, can you?
Olivia: That... might be true, but even so...
Vyrn: Hey, it ain't just you two—plenty of folks in the crew got their own baggage.
Vyrn: Of course it's best to be open with each other, but it's not that strange to have things you'd rather not talk about...
Lyria: Besides, you've always been a true friend to us, Olivia!
Lyria: Even while dealing with the whole fallen angel situation, you helped us on our journey so much.
Lyria: So I hope you don't worry about it too much. Isn't that right, (Captain)?
(Captain) agrees with Lyria and expresses a desire to continue traveling with Olivia and Berceau as crewmates.
Olivia: (Captain)... Lyria, Vyrn...
Berceau: Thank you all so much, truly.
Berceau: Though we had our reasons, we fallen angels left Olivia to fight all by her lonesome...
Berceau: It gladdens my heart to know you've treated Olivia with such kindness.
Vyrn: Hehe, that's what friends are for! It's only right to look out for each other!
Olivia: I've seen with my own eyes how your kindness extends to anyone, no matter who they are. That is something I truly respect.
Olivia: Thank you for forgiving us. And please know that I'd like to keep helping your crew.
Berceau: Me too! If there's anything I can assist you all with, please let me know!
Lyria: Thank you! That really puts our minds at ease!
Vyrn: We'll be countin' on ya from here on out, you two!
Berceau: Please do!
Olivia: I look forward to it.
Olivia: ...
Berceau: Olivia. Are you worried about (Captain) and the others?
Olivia: Yes. I suppose "worried" is the right word.
Berceau: They're all so kind...
Berceau: Which is why I worry that someday, they could be tricked by someone harboring ill intentions.
Berceau: If that should come to pass, I think they'd be really hurt...
Olivia: Yes... You can understand why I'm worried. I don't want them to go through what we did.
Berceau: A lot happened to us, didn't it...
Berceau: I find their kindness to be a precious thing. I hope they never lose it.
Olivia: That's right. I could never be as straightforward as they are though...
Berceau: You really think so?
Olivia: Yes. But that also means there are things I can do because I'm different.
Olivia: Kindness can be a weakness too; it can leave you vulnerable.
Olivia: If that vulnerability ever draws trouble their way, maybe I can shield them from it.
Olivia: I think that might be a way I can atone for deceiving them in the past.
Berceau: Atonement...
Berceau: Yeah. That's right... Staying kind isn't easy at all.
Berceau: I hope I can help (Captain) and the others stay the way they are.
Olivia: Thank you, Berceau.
Berceau: Huh?
Berceau: Haha, Olivia... I don't think I deserve your thanks. I haven't even done anything.
Olivia: No... I'm just grateful that you're here as my counterpart. It really means a lot—it gives me strength.
Berceau: I feel the same! With you beside me, I can keep going.
Berceau: If I were alone, there's no way I could keep holding all the others inside as I have...
Berceau: Even if I could, I probably wouldn't know what to do next. I would've felt completely lost.
Berceau: So I'm truly glad you became my counterpart...
Olivia: I see... Yes, I feel the same.
Olivia: We really are the same, aren't we?
Berceau: Yes, and that makes me happy!
Berceau: I'm sure everyone who became a precipian entity also feels stronger with you on their side, Olivia.
Berceau: We still don't know what role the precipian entities' power will play in this world...
Berceau: But there's one thing I do know for sure: Neither you nor I are alone anymore.
Olivia: Yeah. The key and the lock... Together, we are whole.
Berceau: Let's keep walking forward, Olivia—together.
Olivia: Yes. I'd like that.
As they smile at each other, the energy in Berceau's arms glows with a gentle light, as if in agreement.
As members of (Captain)'s crew and as fallen angels, the two continue to tread their path through the skies.
Such Beauty in This World
That night, Berceau rests with the crew and reflects on memories of past battles against the Astrals and her struggle to find meaning in conflict. Olivia notices her distress, but Berceau insists that all is well.
Berceau: ...
Though slumber is foreign to her kind, Berceau now closes her eyes when resting in imitation of her crewmates.
As her consciousness drifts, memories from her past come back to her.
Berceau: I'll dress your wounds right away! Everything's going to be just fine, okay?
The fallen angels who attempted to rebel against the Astrals are wounded one by one in battle. Unable to stand by and watch anymore, Berceau joins the war effort.
Because she is ill-suited for combat, Berceau devotes herself to supporting from the rear, tending to her injured companions.
Olivia: Ghh...
Berceau: Olivia!
Berceau: Oh no... your injuries are dire! Come here, I'll treat you right away!
Olivia: Sorry, Berceau...
Berceau: No need to apologize, Olivia... It'll heal soon; just endure it for a bit...
While tending to the steady flow of injured companions, Berceau quietly questions the purpose of the conflict.
Berceau: (Is there really... truly any meaning to this battle?)
Berceau: (If we defeat the Astrals and gain freedom, even if we one day challenge god himself and manage to win...)
Berceau: (What would be left for us after that?)
Olivia: Thank you, Berceau. I feel much better now.
Berceau: Ah! Olivia! Don't move yet, it's just the surface that's closed up...
Olivia: Our brethren are still fighting. I can't afford to be resting right now.
Olivia: I'll be fine. Just look after the others!
Berceau: Olivia!
Olivia: Do not falter—fight! And prove yourselves!
Olivia: Prove that we have our own wills. Neither the Astrals nor even god can deny that!
Olivia: We are most certainly not puppets!
Berceau: Olivia... All of you...
Berceau: (Tattered, wounded, and in agony—yet you continue to fight...)
Berceau: (I understand the yearning to defy fate, to claim freedom...)
Berceau: (But even so...)
Berceau: (The world is here before us, filled with life...)
Berceau: (Isn't that enough? Must we really cast aside the Astrals and god at all costs?)
Berceau: I...
Berceau: Mng...
Olivia: Berceau... Berceau!
Berceau: Yawn...
Berceau: Ah, Olivia... Good morning.
Olivia: Good morning, Berceau... Are you all right?
Berceau: Huh? Y-yeah. I'm fine!
Olivia: I see... Good. For a moment, you looked like you were in pain...
Berceau: ...!
Berceau: Um... I just had a sad dream, that's all...
Berceau: Yes... it was rather depressing...
Olivia: I see... Dreams can help organize memories, but sometimes they reflect things weighing on your mind.
Olivia: If you're ever anxious about anything, you can always talk to me.
Berceau: Olivia... thank you.
Olivia: No need to thank me. You and I are the lock and key—two parts of a single whole. This is the least I can do.
Berceau: Hehe, you're right... two parts of a single whole.
Berceau: I'll be okay... I'm okay.
Repeating those words to herself, Berceau strokes the energy cradled in her arms.
Such Beauty in This World: Scene 2
On a hot summer day, Berceau and Olivia go shopping in place of their crewmates. But when Berceau gets lost on her own, a girl steals her wallet. After catching her, Berceau learns the girl needs money for her sick mother.
Vyrn: Looks like we really need to head out and do some shoppin' soon...
Lyria: It's... so hot out...
- Yep, it sure is...
Choose: Yep, it sure is...The lingering summer heat is intense, and even something as simple as shopping feels overwhelming under the harsh sun.
Berceau: (Captain), how about we go do the shopping for you?
Olivia: With this kind of sunlight, it's probably best that the children of man avoid being out for too long...
Vyrn: (Captain)... why not let them handle it? You're tired from all those requests too...
Berceau: Yes! Don't worry about us; we're much sturdier than mortals.
Olivia: We don't get heatstroke or sunburn either. It really is more rational for us to go.
Lyria: Thank you so much! That'd be a huge help!
Berceau: Please, it's no problem at all. Oh, but do you happen to have a shopping list?
After getting the list from (Captain), Berceau and Olivia head into town.
Berceau: Okay, we've purchased all the food. The shopkeeper said they'll deliver it along with the barrels of water to the airship for us.
Olivia: Good, the most important items are checked off. Now we just need... let's see, soap, a whetstone...
Berceau and Olivia walk through the shopping district together, checking the list as they go.
Olivia: Ah, looks like that shop over there sells soap. Let's take a look.
Berceau: Okay!
Berceau: Oh, a bookstore!
Berceau pauses, her eyes caught by the titles of books lined up in front of the shop.
Berceau: "Fundamentals of Airship Buoyancy" and... "Introductory Techniques of Wind Reading"! I could learn so much from these!
Berceau: Hey, Olivia! Could we maybe just take a quick...
Berceau: Huh? Olivia?
In the bustle of the shopping district, Berceau loses track of Olivia all too quickly.
Berceau: I-it'll be okay; calm yourself, Berceau. Olivia said she was going to the soap shop...
Berceau: Ah—that must be it over there...
Berceau searches some of the nearby shops for Olivia but to no avail.
Berceau: Ugh, Olivia... where did you go?
Berceau: Oh! Maybe I should just head back to the airship? Except we're not done shopping...
Berceau: Then again, Olivia's the one holding the list right now, so... it's probably better than wandering around lost like this!
Berceau: Okay, the docks it is!
Berceau: ...
Berceau: Wait, where are the docks again?
While stumbling through the huge shopping district looking for Olivia, Berceau realizes she's completely lost.
Berceau: Er... It's probably time I asked someone for directions...
Berceau: Eep!
Gutsy Girl: Sorry!
Berceau: Wait, please!
Berceau bumps into a girl and grabs her arm as she tries to hurry off, apologizing.
Gutsy Girl: Eek!
Berceau: Hey, that's not okay! Please give back what you just took!
Gutsy Girl: Urk...
Berceau: You will, won't you?
Gutsy Girl: I-I'm so sorry!
With teary eyes, the girl hands over the wallet she snatched from Berceau.
Berceau: Hm... you must have your reasons. You wouldn't do something like this if you didn't, right?
Gutsy Girl: Sniff... Nghh... Sob... Need money...
Gutsy Girl: I just... really need money!
Berceau: Want to talk about it?
Seeing how desperate she is, Berceau decides to listen to the girl's story.
Such Beauty in This World: Scene 3
Berceau visits the girl's ailing mother, diagnoses her, and provides herbal remedies. With further medical assistance from a doctor, the mother's condition stabilizes.
Berceau: Aha, so it's for your mother...
Gutsy Girl: Y-yeah... She hasn't been able to talk after collapsing with a fever...
Gutsy Girl: My dad is a skyfarer and he's gonna be away on a job for a while... So I thought I should go get a doctor.
Gutsy Girl: But I didn't know where the money was... So... so that's why...
Berceau: You must've been really worried... but that doesn't make it okay to steal someone's wallet.
Gutsy Girl: I'm so sorryyy!
Berceau: It's good you realized what you did was wrong. You gave the wallet back, so I forgive you.
Berceau: That said... Um... if it's okay, could you take me to your house?
Berceau: I'm worried about your mother... Maybe there's something I can do to help.
Gutsy Girl: O-okay...
Berceau follows the girl from the shopping district to a residential area.
Berceau: Pardon my intrusion.
Gutsy Girl: Mommy...
Berceau checks on the mother, who is lying in bed exhausted.
Berceau: High fever... and there's a slight rattle in her breathing... She definitely has some inflammation as well!
Gutsy Girl: Are you a doctor, miss?
Berceau: Um, well, I assisted with some research on people a long time ago...
Berceau: Yes! I've seen this before. I think I can at least help ease the symptoms.
Berceau: I hope this island has the right medicinal herbs... Please wait here for a bit.
Gutsy Girl: O-okay!
Berceau: Let's see... Judging from the nearby vegetation, there should be some anti-inflammatory herbs in the area...
Berceau searches the mountain path for the herbs in question.
Berceau: Found them! Yes, these should work!
Berceau: Sorry to keep you waiting! Let's brew these medicinal herbs into a tea for your mom to drink.
Gutsy Girl: M-medicine! Is Mommy going to get better?
Berceau: It should help alleviate the symptoms for now, but you'll still want to have a doctor take a look at her...
Gutsy Girl: A-alle... What? I'm not sure what that is, but please help her!
Berceau: Of course!
Ailing Mother: Mmm... ugh...
Gutsy Girl: Mommy? Mommy!
Ailing Mother: Huh? What am I...
Berceau: You had a fever and collapsed. How are you feeling now?
Ailing Mother: Sorry... Everything's kind of hazy...
Gutsy Girl: Mommy! The money! Where did you put away the money? I need to call the doctor!
Ailing Mother: In the kitchen... bottom shelf, way in the back on the right... there's some money saved up... Sorry I didn't tell you...
Gutsy Girl: It's okay! I'll go get the doctor right now! Just wait here for me!
The girl darts off and soon returns with a doctor. Before long, her mother's condition stabilizes.
Ailing Mother: Zzz...
Gutsy Girl: I'm so glad you're okay, Mommy...
Berceau: She looks much better than before... I couldn't be more relieved.
Gutsy Girl: It's all thanks to you, miss. Thank you so much! I have to do something in return!
Berceau: I'm just glad I could help! Really, there's no need to thank me...
Berceau: But...
Gutsy Girl: What is it? Just say the word!
Berceau: Um... could you please tell me how to get to the airship docks?
Such Beauty in This World: Scene 4
Days later, the girl visits the crew's airship and thanks Berceau by showing her a sky full of stars. Touched, Berceau wishes to live alongside everyone in this beautiful world.
Berceau: I-I'm back...
Olivia: Berceau!
Lyria: Welcome back, Berceau! I'm so glad you're okay!
Vyrn: We were just talkin' about going out to look for ya! Good thing we didn't end up missing each other.
Berceau: I'm sorry, I had gotten completely lost...
Olivia: You and I are the lock and key, counterparts drawn to each other. I figured we'd end up back together one way or another...
Berceau: Ah!
Berceau: Oh, you're right! If I'd just tracked your presence, I could have found you so much more easily!
Berceau: I was so flustered, I completely forgot...
Olivia: Anyway, I'm just glad you made it back safely.
Berceau: Olivia, (Captain), Lyria, Vyrn, I'm sorry for making you all worry.
Lyria: It's okay! We're lucky nothing happened to you, Berceau!
Vyrn: You must've walked around a ton, huh? Bet you're exhausted. Might wanna rest up in your room.
Berceau: Ah! Actually, while I was lost, I ended up helping someone out along the way...
As Berceau shares her story about what happened that day, the others gather around the dining table.
Days later, one evening...
Lyria's Voice: Berceau! You have a visitor!
Berceau: A visitor? For me?
Gutsy Girl: Hello, miss!
Berceau: Ah! The young lady from the other day... How is your mom doing?
Gutsy Girl: The doctor came to check on her again. She'll be all better after another day or two of rest!
Berceau: That's wonderful! I'm so glad.
Gutsy Girl: So I wanted to thank you today, miss. Do you have some time right now?
Berceau: Oh, you really don't have to—
Gutsy Girl: It's fine! Come on! I want to show you something special!
Urged on by the girl, Berceau lets (Captain) and the others know she's heading out and leaves the airship.
Berceau: Wow! There are so many flowers blooming here—it's beautiful.
Berceau: Is this the special thing you wanted to show me?
Gutsy Girl: The flowers are nice, but... just hold on a bit longer!
Berceau: ...?
The girl and Berceau spend time together chatting and making flower crowns in the floral meadow.
Berceau: Oh, look at the time! Is it okay for you to be out this late?
Gutsy Girl: I told my mom, so it's all right! Miss, do this!
The girl demonstrates by sprawling out on the grass.
Berceau: Like this?
Side by side, the two of them look up to see the sunset.
Gutsy Girl: Ah! Look, miss! The first star!
As the girl points to a shining star, others begin to glimmer until the whole sky sparkles with light.
Berceau: It's so beautiful...
Gutsy Girl: Right? Isn't it amazing? I just wanted you to be able to see this too.
Berceau: Thank you so much! It really is so beautiful...
The two of them gaze up at the night sky in silence for a while.
Berceau: (The world truly is beautiful...)
Berceau: (If only I could keep living here with everyone in this beautiful world...)
Without realizing it, Berceau gently strokes the energy resting in her arms.
Moved by her heartfelt wish, the precipian entity glows with a gentle light.
