Toughy-Woughy Date, Shrimpy-Wimpy Heart
Chichiri insists on showing her gratitude toward (Captain) with a date. She shows up wearing a new outfit that Uruki selected for her, but becomes worried when (Captain) doesn't react to it strongly. She remembers Uruki's encouragement and resolves to take the lead on the date.
Chichiri: (Captain), (Captain)! I finally caught you!
Chichiri grabs onto (Captain)'s arm as the captain emerges onto the deck.
Chichiri: Are you busy, (Captain)? Not that I'm letting go if you are!
Chichiri: After all, you have me so worked up that I'm going to collapse... from how indebted I am to you!
Chichiri: Those toughy-woughy feats you pulled off really, really helped me out.
Chichiri: So I've been keeping an eye out for when I could catch you alone!
Chichiri: Mwahaha, nobody will get in my way now!
Chichiri: I've thought of a super special way to thank you!
(Captain) tenses up at the possibility of receiving another acupressure massage, but Chichiri proposes something else entirely.
Chichiri: Let's go on a date the next time we have a day off!
Chichiri: Hm? Did you think it would be an acupressure massage? Think again!
- Why?
- It's not more bowing, right?
Choose: Why?Chichiri: Did it not being a massage make you think I'm plotting something? Ahaha...
Choose: It's not more bowing, right?Chichiri: N-no, it isn't! Is that what you want from me?
Chichiri: Just kidding. Are you worried because I'm not using my normal go-to?
Continue 1Chichiri: This isn't a trick or anything. I just won't feel satisfied unless I repay you big time!
Chichiri: So I want to go on a gratitude date. I swear to make it a blast for you!
Chichiri: Since you're so kind, I know you want to tell me that I don't owe anything, but...
Chichiri: Say yes anyway. Come on, say it!
Overwhelmed by Chichiri's forcefulness, (Captain) consents before she can resort to her embarrassing and dangerous form of bowing.
Chichiri: Yay! I got your word on it! Date time, date time!
Chichiri: (I already have my outfit picked out. (Captain) has no idea how ready I am to take the lead on this date!)
On the day of the date...
Chichiri: Enter toughy-woughy Chichiri, sweety-weety version!
- You're wearing new clothes.
- Good morning.
Choose: You're wearing new clothes.Chichiri: Of course I have new clothes for our date! I'm running on all cylinders for this, you know?
Choose: Good morning.Chichiri: Good morning to you too! Wait a...
Chichiri: Wrong, wrong, wrong! Isn't there something else for you to say? Something about these adorable clothes, maybe?
Continue 2Chichiri: (Hm? That...)
Chichiri: (That was a pretty muted reaction to my sweety-weety date outfit...)
Chichiri: (No, I must be mistaken. Uru guaranteed this outfit would be great, after all.)
Chichiri: Ah, I get it. You're putting on a strong front, aren't you? You big dumb-dumb!
Chichiri: This outfit is so cute that you're feeling flustered, aren't you?
Chichiri: You're normally my toughy-woughy guru, but today I've got you shrimpy-wimpy!
Chichiri happily teases (Captain), but internally...
Chichiri: (Huh? Huh? (Captain) really looks totally unfazed!)
Chichiri: (Sure, my outfit got an acknowledgment, but what's the verdict on it?)
Chichiri: (How am I supposed to take the lead like this?)
Chichiri: (Are these clothes too cutesy? Did I p-p-p-put (Captain) off?)
Chichiri: (Oh... oh no... Urgh, I don't know, I'm clueless!)
Chichiri: (I set up this date to thank (Captain), so it would be a disaster for me to immediately end it!)
Chichiri: (Please, just let these clothes be the right choice!)
Chichiri: (They are, right? Answer me, my inner Uru!)
Inner Uruki: (Yeah, they are. Or are they? Who really knows?)
Chichiri: (Shoot, I got a vague answer. My inner Uru is too accurate!)
Chichiri: (I-it's not wrong, right? I'm losing my mind with uncertainty here, Uruuu!)
While conversing with her inner Uruki, Chichiri thinks back to the time that the Harvin helped her choose this outfit.
On that day, Chichiri had recruited Uruki to help her pick clothes for this outing.
Uruki: A date as thanks... My cheeks are feeling hot just thinking about it!
Chichiri: Mwahaha, I'm gonna make (Captain) feel all my gratitude with this toughy-woughy, sweety-weety date!
Uruki: Oh, that sounds so nice. I'd love to do it too, but I might get so excited that I'd melt...
Uruki: So instead, I'm going to do a great job picking an outfit for you, Chichiri!
Chichiri: Thanks! I'm gonna need a cute, toughy-woughy outfit in order to get (Captain)'s...
Uruki: ...
Chichiri: Uru?
Uruki: Look at that! There's so many frills! Could that outfit be cutest in the skies? It might be!
Uruki picks up the pink dress, which is covered with frills and other embellishments.
Chichiri: That's one of your favorite brands! It's like a doll's outfit!
Chichiri: I don't think something so cutesy would look good on me, but...
Uruki: No, it will.
Chichiri: Huh?
Uruki: I think this would look better on you than anything else.
Chichiri: U-Uru? What's gotten into you?
Uruki: Let's get you in this. I want to see how cute you look. Right now, I think.
Chichiri: Uru, why do your eyes look so scary?
Uruki tries to shove Chichiri into the changing room with a fierce expression.
Chichiri: Whoa, Uru, don't push me! I can go in myself!
Holding back her friend, Chichiri hastily tells an employee that she'll be trying on the outfit, and enters the room.
Chichiri: Urk... There's no way I can wear an outfit like this! It's way too cutesy...
Chichiri: Uru's just putting her own tastes on full display... I'm sure it'd look great on her, but could it really fit me?
Uruki's Voice: Are you still changing? I guess you are. I don't know if I can keep waiting...
Chichiri: I-I'll be done in a second...
Upon seeing Chichiri in the outfit...
Uruki: Oh wow... You're just like a doll...
Uruki: You're so cute... You're the cutest thing in the skies... I want to take you home...
Chichiri: (Urgggh... This really is too cutesy for little old me...)
Uruki: I know, let's go to my room and get you even more made up.
Uruki: I have tools, powders, and all kinds of this brand's accessories!
Chichiri: Even more made up? No, that's...
Uruki: But, Chichiri, you're just so cute...
Chichiri: Y-you really think so?
Chichiri tilts her head and then does a spin in front of the mirror.
Uruki: Wow, you're a toughy-woughy sweety-weety doll...
Chichiri: Toughy-woughy sweety-weety...
Uruki: That's right. It's the cutest thing I've ever seen, so I'm sure it will be perfect for your date.
Chichiri: Hehe, it's that cute? It's really that cute?
Uruki: Absolutely, of course it is! I just want to look at you forever. I'm sure (Captain) will love it too!
Chichiri: (She's totally looking at me like a doll right now, but... it's nice being called cute.)
Chichiri: (And showing off a completely new style to (Captain) might have a nice impact.)
Chichiri: (A toughy-woughy sweety-weety look could get me a lot of attention from the captain!)
Chichiri: (I've already shown off enough of my shrimpy-wimpy side...)
Chichiri: (This time, I'll plan an amazing date to make (Captain) shrimpy-wimpy!)
Chichiri: (And I might even get (Captain) to fall in love with me!)
Chichiri: Hehe, hehehe... I think I'll go with this outfit, Uru!
Uruki: Yay!
Uruki: Hey, hey! After (Captain), will you go on a date with me?
Chichiri: Of course! Thanks so much, Uru!
Chichiri: (Uru... I think I let you influence me too much...)
Chichiri: (Grah, I know I suck so much... But...)
Chichiri: (For today, shrimpy-wimpy Chichiri is getting sealed away! I'm going to take the lead on this date!)
Chichiri: (I'll d-d-d-do my best! Don't give up, Chichiri! Don't! Give! Up!)
Hiding her panic, Chichiri leads (Captain) to the first stop on her date plan.
To Avoid a Shrimpy-Wimpy Date
When Chichiri's failure to be honest causes her to lose confidence in both her outfit and her actions, she decides that she must go to a certain place in order to take the lead and show her strong side.
Purportedly as thanks for (Captain)'s help, Chichiri has brought the captain to a shopping district for a "gratitude date."
Chichiri: Let's start off with a classic—clothes shopping! Over here, (Captain)!
Chichiri: W-wow, it sure is crowded! We d-d-don't want to get lost, so take...
Chichiri: (...!)
Chichiri: (Now that I'm looking at it, my arm is packed with lace from shoulder to knuckles!)
Chichiri: (I can't try to hold hands without knowing what (Captain) thinks of these clothes!)
Chichiri: (But I still want to! But... urgh... Whatever, I'm gonna d-do it!)
Chichiri: Shall we t-t-take our hands and... put them up in the air?
Chichiri: (Hwuuuut? Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb idiot! I'm such a puny-fluny shrimpy-wimp!)
(Captain) interrupts Chichiri's consternation at her own words.
- Are we not going to hold hands?
- Raise the roof!
Choose: Are we not going to hold hands?Chichiri: Huh? Uh...
Chichiri: (Wait, it's okay? Does that mean that (Captain) likes these clothes?)
Chichiri: (B-but I look like a doll, instead of awesome like I usually do! Is that fine anyway?)
Chichiri: (If that's what (Captain) wants, then...)
Choose: Raise the roof!Chichiri: Huh, you're really on board with that idea. But no, I... I wanted...
Chichiri: Raise the roof... Sob...
When Chichiri resignedly raises her hands into the air, (Captain) grabs onto one.
Chichiri: Hwah! Whoa, you...
What, you want to hold hands?
Chichiri: (If that's what (Captain) wants, then...)
Continue 1Chichiri: (Wait, I'm totally failing at taking the lead, aren't I!)
Chichiri: (And after I spent all that time daydreaming about... I mean mentally simulating leading (Captain) around by the nose!)
Chichiri: (It'll be so pathetic if I slip up and show that I'm feeling too shrimpy-wimpy to stay in control! Okay, I know what to do...)
Chichiri: A... Ahaha, I guess you want to be toughy-woughy and aggressive today, don't you?
Chichiri: (Ultimate technique—deflection! Did that work? Please let it have!)
Chichiri: You can be shrimpy-wimpy (Captain) during our date at least, you know? You big silly-billy!
As Chichiri continues to dance around holding hands, (Captain) interrupts again.
- I sure do want to hold hands.
- Are you too wimpy to hold hands?
Choose: I sure do want to hold hands.Chichiri: Wha?
Chichiri: (Grah, a straight ball! How am I supposed to turn that down?)
Chichiri: Wow, (Captain), you're so straightforward! Okay, let's hold hands!
Choose: Are you too wimpy to hold hands?Chichiri: Wimpy?
Chichiri: N-no, I'm as toughy-woughy as they come, so I'm not at all not unopposed to holding hands, you know?
Continue 2Hearing that, (Captain) takes Chichiri's hand.
Chichiri: Aha, ahaha...
Chichiri: (Why are you so nervous, Chichiri? Are you losing it? I think you might be!)
Chichiri: (Huh? Did I just catch Uru's speaking patterns? Ahaha...)
Chichiri: Oh, we're here.
Chichiri: A-Ami and Shushuku come to this shop too, you know?
Chichiri: I'll find some really cool clothes to spruce up your look!
Chichiri takes (Captain) by the hand to the aisle of new designs.
Chichiri: Aha! Look, I bet this'll fit you perfectly!
Chichiri: Here, stand still.
Chichiri: Oh yeah, you'd look absolutely awesome in this!
Chichiri: Come on, there's a mirror over here! Stand right there.
Chichiri: Oh, hold on, this belt might be good too! What if we try this?
Chichiri: Wow, there's a toughy-woughy! Do you like this kind of outfit too?
Chichiri: But maybe it's too simple. Should we try adding a necklace?
(Captain) turns to a nearby shelf and finds a necklace that seems to match Chichiri's outfit.
Chichiri: Hm? You like that sweety-weety necklace, (Captain)? But it doesn't match your...
Chichiri: Wait, is that for me?
Chichiri: (Hrgh! Right, of course, I'm dressed up like a doll right now!)
Chichiri: (That necklace will fit my outfit perfectly!)
Chichiri: (It had totally slipped my mind!)
Chichiri: (Picking out clothes with (Captain) was so fun that I completely forgot...)
Chichiri: (I'm supposed to be leading, not having fun! Why do I suck so much!)
Chichiri: (Grr, grumble... Shrimpy-wimpy Chichiri is sealed away today!)
Chichiri: (I've got to be my usual, sweety-weety, dolled up self! Wait, usual? Whatever!)
Chichiri: Aha! Thanks, (Captain)! This will look great with my current o-o-outfit!
Still hearing Chichiri's discomposure, (Captain) asks her a question.
- Are you all right?
- Are you shrimpy-wimpy Chichiri today?
Choose: Are you all right?Chichiri: Wh-wh-wh-what do you mean? I'm totally fine! I'm toughy-woughy Chichiri, after all!
Choose: Are you shrimpy-wimpy Chichiri today?Chichiri: Wh-why would you even ask me that? I'm not shrimpy-wimpy! I'm toughy-woughy Chichiri, one hundred percent!
Continue 3Chichiri: (Oh no, oh no, oh no! At this rate, this is gonna turn into shrimpy-wimpy Chichiri's shrimpy-wimpy date!)
Chichiri: (I need to think of something... Something that will let me take the lead and show (Captain) my toughy-woughy side!)
Chichiri desperately, but surreptitiously, searches their surroundings for something that could help her.
Chichiri: (Awesome clothes or some kind of awesome accessory... Actually, it could be something else entirely...)
Chichiri: (Huh... There's that place that people have been talking about...)
Chichiri: (Hm. Hmm... I see, I see...)
Chichiri: Hey, (Captain), let's check out with those clothes and that belt. And then...
Chichiri: I'm going to take you to a really cool place. Don't try to run away, okay?
Looking up at (Captain) with a sweet expression, Chichiri suddenly breaks into a confident grin.
To Avoid a Shrimpy-Wimpy Date: Scene 2
Chichiri takes (Captain) to an ominous exhibition hall in order to show off her strong side, but ends up bawling uncontrollably. While attempting to bow to apologize for ruining the date, (Captain)'s kindness reminds her of her determination to make it a blast for them both.
Carrying their purchases in a bag, Chichiri and (Captain) leave the store.
Chichiri: Aren't those some nice clothes? They're a present from me, so take good care of them!
Chichiri: (I had a pretty flower cafe in mind for our next destination, but it's time for a change of plans!)
Chichiri: Let's go here, (Captain)!
Chichiri points at an ominous, poorly lit exhibition hall.
Chichiri: Have you heard of this place, (Captain)? It's been the talk of the town lately.
Chichiri: They're putting on an exhibition of spooky-wooky interactive experiences!
Chichiri: Everyone says that it's super scary! Do you want to check it out? Of course you do!
The panel near the entrance offers no explanation of the exhibition's nature, but rather only its name.
"The Hall of Everyday Terrors."
- Are you going to be okay in there, Chichiri?
- Wow, that looks scary.
Choose: Are you going to be okay in there, Chichiri?Chichiri: O-o-of course I am! What are you talking about? Toughy-woughy Chichiri fears nothing!
Choose: Wow, that looks scary.Chichiri: Y-yeah... The entrance is already making me...
Chichiri: I mean, no! Nothing can scare toughy-woughy Chichiri! Not even a little, tiny bit!
Continue 1Chichiri: W-w-well, I might usually be a scaredy-cat, but this is just an unusual exhibition, not a haunted house!
Chichiri: Though I don't really know what they're exhibiting, to be honest...
Chichiri: Maybe you'll get scared and turn into shrimpy-wimpy (Captain)!
Chichiri: (Heh, just kidding! I already know that (Captain) will be unfazed.)
Chichiri: (But what if, when (Captain)'s guard is down, I get super clingy because I'm scared?)
Chichiri: (That'll be enough for even (Captain) go weak at the knees!)
Chichiri: (Then, once our captain's become shakey-wakey (Captain), I turn the tables and take the lead!)
Chichiri: (This plan is sure to lead me to victory!)
Chichiri: (Hm? Was winning the point of this date? Well, whatever!)
Chichiri: Oh? What're you frozen up for, (Captain)?
Chichiri: Aha, are you a shrimpy-wimpy scaredy-cat? Don't worry, I'll stay with you the whole time! Let's go in!
- Okay, fine.
Choose: Okay, fine.Chichiri: Mwahaha! Tickets for two adults, please!
Chichiri enters the exhibit hall with a smile on her face, but soon...
Chichiri's Voice: Hm? This just looks like a regular door. Is that the exhibit?
Chichiri's Voice: "Behind any regular old door, there could actually be a monster?" Ahaha, that's just... Huh?
Chichiri's Voice: Oh no, oh no, no way! There could be something like this on the Grandcypher?
Chichiri's Voice: I'm sorry, I can't! I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared!
Chichiri's Voice: Aaaaah!
Chichiri is clinging onto (Captain) with all her strength as tears and mucus stream down her face.
Chichiri: That scared me so much!
- I knew it would.
Choose: I knew it would.Chichiri: When I opened the door a crack... There was an eye...
Chichiri: It was s-staring right at me! What if it really exists?
Chichiri: When we get back to the ship, I won't be able to open any doors!
(Captain) sits Chichiri down on a bench and wipes her face.
Chichiri: Ugh... I'm so sworry... I was wrong...
Chichiri: Sob... Thank you for wiping me up... You're so kind, (Captain)...
Chichiri: Ah, your clothes... I got a bunch of snot on them...
Chichiri: Hrgh, sniffle... I'm such a pathetic, pathetic shrimpy-wimp...
Chichiri: Now that it's come to this, I'll have to apologize to you with a fullhearted, full power—
(Captain) hurriedly steps forward to prevent Chichiri from bowing.
Chichiri: No, let me do it! There's no way for me to escape what I've done other than by performing the greatest bow of my life!
Chichiri: So with everything I've got, with no pulled punches, with all my cards on the table, I'll show you the ultimate...
- Bowing is banned!
- This is supposed to be a fun date, right?
Choose: Bowing is banned!Chichiri: What! Why, why?
Chichiri: The only way I can show my head isn't so empty that it's lighter than air at this point is to push it down into the...
Chichiri: Hm... But if I do it here, I'll damage the surrounding buildings...
Chichiri: Oh, I know! Can you come with me to some empty plains later so I can...
Suddenly, Chichiri sees the sad expression (Captain) is looking at her with and comes back to her senses.
Choose: This is supposed to be a fun date, right?Chichiri: Ah...
Continue 2Chichiri: I'm sorry, I... What was I doing?
Chichiri: I was supposed to be using this date to show you my gratitude...
Chichiri: You've just seen so much of me being a pathetic shrimpy-wimp, so I wanted you to see me being toughy-woughy for once today...
Chichiri: So I spent this whole time thinking about how I could take the lead.
Chichiri: In the end, I showed you my most shrimpy-wimpy part of all by making everything about me... I've gotta reflect on my attitude...
Chichiri lowers her head dejectedly but, after a few moments, straightens up again all of a sudden.
Chichiri: Okay, done with self-reflecting!
Chichiri: I'm not letting myself get any more down in the dumps today!
Chichiri: You taught me that I have to keep going, no matter how pathetic and shrimpy-wimpy I may be!
Chichiri: I really, truly am thankful to you...
Chichiri: So please let me continue this gratitude date, (Captain)!
Chichiri: This time, I swear I'll make it a blast!
Having stood up and sucked the mucus back into her nose, Chichiri looks at (Captain) with utterly pure eyes.
To Avoid a Shrimpy-Wimpy Date: Scene 3
Chichiri takes (Captain) to a ballroom dancing party and reveals that it is actually one of her specialties. The two entrance the attendees with their dancing, and when Chichiri saves (Captain) after a trip, she declares that she will become even more reliable and take the captain on another date.
Chichiri has brought (Captain) to a beautiful dance hall.
Elegant Woman: Welcome!
Chichiri: This way, (Captain).
Chichiri: Hehe! Since I was trying to take the lead, I applied for a place here ahead of time.
Chichiri: It's ballroom dancing!
Chichiri: I'm actually really good at this! You had no idea, did you?
Chichiri: Normally this place has a dress code, but because Halloween is close, they're throwing a dance party that allows costumes!
Chichiri: And your costume goes together with mine perfectly, doesn't it?
(Captain) has been forced to change into an outfit that Chichiri secretly brought.
Chichiri: The music's about to start. Let's dance, (Captain)!
(Captain) takes Chichiri's hand as they walk to the dance floor and, as the first note plays, takes a graceful step with her.
Chichiri: ...
I used to dance with Grampy.
Chichiri: In order to beat Zhuque, he trained me on all kinds of movement, not just martial arts.
Thinking back to when they sparred, (Captain) remembers that even Chichiri's way of walking had left no openings.
Chichiri: Now that I think about it, maybe the dancing wasn't actually training. Maybe Grampy just wanted to teach me something unrelated to Zhuque.
Chichiri: That would explain why he always danced to match my steps.
Chichiri: Until I mastered dancing, he always made sure to cover for my mistakes.
Chichiri: Grampy was so kind that way. It's what made me love him so much.
Chichiri: And now it's my turn. I'm going to take the lead and make this the greatest date ever!
Chichiri: At least, that's what I had been thinking!
- And what about now?
Choose: And what about now?Chichiri: Now I want to make this the greatest date ever—together with you!
Chichiri: Because you reminded me that this date is for both of us.
Chichiri: I'll kick this off to start, so keep up with me!
With that, Chichiri takes a large, powerful step on the next beat.
Chichiri: Aha... Your timing's perfect, just as I expected.
Chichiri: Grampy fell over when I did that to him.
Chichiri: ...
(Captain).
(Captain) observes Chichiri's gaze to successfully read her next step.
Chichiri: Hehe, your hands, feet, and everything else all go where I want them.
Chichiri: Let's synchronize even more...
With each note, the pair's dancing becomes even more fluid.
Elegant Man: My word!
The surrounding dancers start to marvel at (Captain) and Chichiri's graceful moves, but the pair doesn't even notice.
Chichiri: We're doing really good, aren't we? Do you want to go even further?
Chichiri suddenly throws the captain off with complicated steps.
Chichiri: Haha! Come on, (Captain), you can dance however you want to!
Chichiri: Aha, not bad! You've got me walking on clouds.
Chichiri: All right then, payback time.
Chichiri turns, and then spins so fast as to become a blur.
(Captain) tries to keep up with the sudden move but trips.
Chichiri: Ah, (Captain)—
Chichiri fails to recover in time, and the captain falls straight towards her.
- Shoot, I'm so—
Choose: Shoot, I'm so—Chichiri: Did you trip? Don't worry about it, (Captain).
In the blink of an eye...
Chichiri takes (Captain)'s hand and pulls their bodies together in a stylish pose, making the mistake look like a spontaneous addition to their dance.
Elegant Woman: Marvelous!
The entranced onlookers shout out praise to the pair, completely unaware that the near-accident was real.
Chichiri: Mwahaha, it would still be pathetic if I didn't take the lead at some point, after all.
Chichiri: Not that I wasn't being pathetic for most of today anyway.
Chichiri: Still, I couldn't keep being shrimpy-wimpy Chichiri forever.
Chichiri: So we're going to make our next date even better, okay?
Chichiri: Let's pinky swear it. Grampy always kept his pinkie promises, you know?
Chichiri: So I will as well.
Without interrupting their dance, the two entwine their fingers and make a promise.
Chichiri: I swear that I'll become toughy-woughy Chichiri, so make sure you're by my side watching me, (Captain).
Chichiri: And let's go on another date too. That's a promise!
The pair of dancers gaze into each other's eyes as they continue to twirl around.
Chichiri's soft laughter quietly echoes through the dance hall.
Several days later, two girls dressed in pink and blue turn heads as they walk through the town together, but that is another story.
