Dip Your Toes In
While the Grandcypher is docked in Auguste, Clarisse successfully asks (Captain) out on a date. Upon realizing that her swimsuit doesn't fit any longer, she decides to go on a diet. With the help of Tikoh and Cagliostro, she manages to fit back into her swimsuit in time.
The Grandcypher is docked on the shores of Auguste today as the crew restocks on supplies.
Long overdue for a break, (Captain) and the others ultimately decide to extend their stay on the tropical island.
While they excitedly make plans for its sunny shores, one crewmate in particular has her eyes on the captain.
Clarisse: ((Captain)'s schedule. It's wide open.)
Clarisse: (So that means it's okay for me to ask the captain on a date... right?)
Clarisse: (I mean, (Captain) promised after all...)
Clarisse: I was wondering if y-you'd like to, um...
Clarisse: Go on a date with me!
Clarisse: I want to get to know you better, (Captain).
Clarisse: Or would you rather... not spend more time with me?
Clarisse: (The captain's so busy nowadays—who knows when my next chance'll come around?)
Clarisse: (Still... How am I supposed to bring it up?)
Clarisse: ("We still on for that date?" Ngh... Imagine saying that out loud...)
Clarisse: (But I can't let this chance go to waste either.)
Clarisse: (How am I even supposed to get to know (Captain) better at this rate?)
Cagliostro: No doubt. Pretty much everyone's cuckoo for (Captain) on this ship.
Clarisse: (I can't give up already—not when I've already got the okay!)
Clarisse: (I made a promise to get to know (Captain) better!)
Clarisse: (So it's now or never, Clarisse!)
Clarisse: (A girl's gotta have guts!)
As the commotion dies down, (Captain) and the others begin heading back to their respective rooms.
Waiting for the captain to be alone, Clarisse approaches.
Clarisse: (Captain)!
- What's up?
Choose: What's up?Clarisse: Um... D-do you have any plans while we're in Auguste?
Clarisse: I was just thinking, maybe we could... go on that date?
Clarisse: Y-you remember Valentine's Day, right?
Clarisse: So, well... how about now?
(Captain) smiles and nods at the young maiden's invitation.
Clarisse: R-really? O-okay, let's do it!
Clarisse: And don't worry about planning everything—I've got it covered, so just wait a bit, 'kay?
Now glowing red, Clarisse rushes to get the words out as quickly as possible before heading back to her own room.
Clarisse: Pant... Pant...
Clarisse: (I actually did it. And (Captain)'s actually on board.)
Clarisse: A date with just... the two of us.
Clarisse: ...
Clarisse: Woohoo!
Clarisse jumps onto her bed, kicking her legs with excitement.
Clarisse: Hehe... I'm going on a date with (Captain)!
Clarisse: Wait. This is no time to be gushing—there's planning to do!
Clarisse: Okay, since we're in Auguste, I guess that means going down to the water. So probably swimsuits.
Clarisse: (A date on the beach... How's that for romantic?)
Clarisse: (A-and if things go well, we could get to talking about our feelings together, and... and...)
Clarisse: Anyway! I can't let what happened last time happen again, so I'd better get to practicing.
Clarisse: First I'll just change into my swimsuit, and—
Clarisse: No... Not like this...
Clarisse: Nooooo!
Clarisse: Ngh...
Clarisse is slumped over a table in the Grandcypher canteen, seemingly lifeless.
The sight stops a passing Cagliostro in her tracks with a heavy sigh.
Cagliostro: You know, most people come here for food. If you're just gonna mope around, you might as well eat something while you're at it.
Clarisse: Ugh... I wanna eat something, but I just can't...
Cagliostro: What's wrong with y—
Cagliostro: Oh. I see what's going on here. A diet?
Clarisse: Yeah...
Clarisse nods while blushing, her head still resting on the table.
Tikoh: Medically speaking, skipping meals has been proven to be quite ineffective for weight loss.
Clarisse: Tikoh?
Tikoh: Sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop.
Tikoh: As a physician, I can't recommend you taking such drastic action to lose weight.
Tikoh: And not only that, but your body seems to be in perfectly good shape to me.
Clarisse: You don't get it—my swimsuit's gotten too tight for me...
Tikoh: In that case, I actually have a diet that I've created for my patients. Care to give it a try?
Clarisse: Wait, are you some kind of diet expert?
Tikoh: I am a doctor, you know.
Clarisse: Hmm... Yeah, that checks out. So does it work?
Tikoh: Indeed. All of my patients who have tried this method have reported success.
Tikoh: (Except me for some reason...)
Cagliostro: So it's been through clinical trials... Ah—which I assume means you carried them out on yourself?
Tikoh: Of course! After all, doctors only prescribe treatments that have been proven safe.
Tikoh: Obviously I didn't do it to lose weight myself, why would I, but I have a duty to help those who ask for it.
Cagliostro: Right. Well, that's more than I asked about, but thanks.
Clarisse: Teach me your ways, Doc! I've actually never been on a diet.
Tikoh: You're in good hands.
Cagliostro: I'll make that four good hands. You're welcome, Clarisse.
Clarisse: Wait, what do you mean?
Cagliostro: A little bird told me you've got a big date coming up.
Clarisse: ...!
Master, h-how did you know?
Cagliostro: You know you can't hide anything from me.
Cagliostro: Just think of it as a present for my most earnest disciple. Plus, things are just about to get interesting...
Clarisse: Master, wait!
Clarisse and Tikoh find a meadow to stroll through at a brisk pace.
Clarisse: So, we're not running?
Clarisse: I mean, I just thought there'd be a lot more intense cardio and portion control involved.
Tikoh: It isn't good for your body to suddenly go under physical strain when you're not used to it.
Tikoh: For you, walking at a moderate speed would be more effective at burning fat.
Clarisse: You think so? I mean, I could do this all day.
Tikoh: Keep at it then. By the way, where's Cagliostro?
Clarisse: Master? She said she had some research to take care of, so it's just me for now.
Tikoh: Then let's keep walking.
Clarisse: Okay!
The two girls continue their walk, engaging in conversation about various topics.
However, Tikoh suddenly stops, realizing how late it's become.
Tikoh: We should get back soon.
Clarisse: Already? Shouldn't we keep going?
Tikoh: Overdoing it would be counterproductive—it's more important to be consistent above all else.
Tikoh: And it might be worth doing some weight training after this.
Tikoh: Building some muscle will help keep your body weight in check.
Clarisse: Could you teach me how to do that too?
Tikoh: Of course. I've also prepared a special meal plan for your diet.
Tikoh hands Clarisse a small piece of parchment.
Written on it are various ingredients and their respective quantities, along with a list of nutrients.
Tikoh: Give this to someone who can cook, and have them make it accordingly. With no deviations, I'll stress—not in ingredients nor measurements.
Tikoh: That way it'll have a better effect on you.
Clarisse: Thanks, Doc!
Clarisse: Say, you don't think... my thighs would get bigger if I walked like this every day, right?
Tikoh, slightly taken aback, glances down at her own legs without saying anything.
Clarisse: Tikoh?
Tikoh: ...
You don't need to worry about that.
Tikoh: Muscle doesn't build so easily—and even if you put some on, it can help you look toned.
Clarisse: In that case I guess I'm safe, huh?
Tikoh: Yeah...
After answering Clarisse's questions, Tikoh takes another look at her own legs.
Cagliostro: Welcome to Cagliostro's course on anatomy for curious young maidens!
Clarisse: Whoooa!
Tikoh: Wait, what kind of class is this?
Cagliostro: Today's lesson: finding your fabulous figure!
Cagliostro: Beauty. Eye of the beholder and all that, right? That is to say, different strokes for different folks.
Cagliostro: We could dive into the theories of qualia and ideathesia, but that's not what you're here for.
Cagliostro: Now, beauty itself? Not so easily defined. But nobody can deny the aesthetic perfection that is... the golden ratio.
Cagliostro: You may have heard of this concept applied in mathematics and engineering, but what if we were to apply it to a person's body?
Cagliostro: It can help us, basically, to figure out the proportions we want to shoot for.
Cagliostro: In today's lesson, I'll explain in detail how to reshape your body to achieve this golden ratio.
Cagliostro continues her lecture on the science and theory of bodycraft.
Cagliostro: And that, ladies, was Cagliostro's theory on optimal cuteness.
Clarisse: Ngh...
Tikoh: I never thought about body shape from such a... geometric perspective before.
Tikoh: I've always thought about it more in terms of biometrics.
Cagliostro: It all depends on what your goal is.
Cagliostro: Watching your weight for health and watching your weight for beauty aren't exactly the same.
Tikoh: I've much to think about now in regards to the relationship between fats and muscles.
Tikoh: But just how did you become so knowledgeable about anatomy?
Cagliostro: This is all a part of the extensive research from when I created this body for myself.
Cagliostro: I've dedicated my life to the pursuit of cuteness. It's only natural that I'd be knowledgeable on the subject.
Cagliostro: Anyway. Did you get all that, Clarisse?
Clarisse: Yeah, I think...
Clarisse: At least, I learned that you're seriously serious about being cute.
Clarisse: I've got one heck of an ancestor, I'll say that much...
Cagliostro: Shut it.
Cagliostro: The most important thing when striving for beauty is proper balance.
Cagliostro: Diet might be the answer in your case to finding that proper balance.
Clarisse: I'll do whatever it takes—I want (Captain) to see me at my most beautiful.
Cagliostro: That's the spirit.
Cagliostro: And it'd be great if you could bring some of that motivation to my alchemy lectures too, you know.
Clarisse: Oh, yeah, uh... Ahaha...
A few days pass.
Clarisse tries her swimsuit on once again, confirming the results of her diet.
Tikoh: Well? How is it? Still too tight?
Clarisse: Gimme a sec...
Cagliostro: Be honest, now.
Clarisse: I know, I know!
...Huh?
Clarisse: Yes!
Tikoh: Hehe... I'm guessing it worked.
Cagliostro: Yep.
Clarisse: See for yourself, you two!
Cagliostro: It's a bit too childish if you ask me, but... not bad. Not bad at all.
Tikoh: You look adorable.
Clarisse: Hehe... And it's all thanks to the both of you!
Clarisse: I really owe you one!
Tikoh: Any time.
Cagliostro: No worries. But this had better be worth our while, so...
Cagliostro: You'd better come back victorious, you hear?
Clarisse: Yep! I'm going all in this time!
Clarisse nods, eyes full of determination.
With newfound resolve in her heart, she makes preparations in earnest for her upcoming date.
Our Promised Summer
With their pinkies crossed, Clarisse and (Captain) enjoy their beachside date. Clarisse nonchalantly asks the captain to apply sunscreen onto her back before realizing how bold her request was. (Captain) obliges, to Clarisse's simultaneous delight and embarrassment.
A few days have passed since Clarisse has asked the captain on a date.
Before their date, Clarisse tells (Captain) to come in swimwear.
When the day finally comes, (Captain) heads toward the designated meeting place.
Clarisse: (Captain)!
Upon seeing the captain's face, Clarisse's expression brightens.
Clarisse: Hehe... Thanks for coming, Captain.
Clarisse: Well? What do you think?
- Cute swimsuit!
- Girl, you just made my heart stop.
Choose: Cute swimsuit!Clarisse: (Yay! The captain called me cute.)
Clarisse: (I'm so glad I was able to fit.)
Choose: Girl, you just made my heart stop.Clarisse: (Your h-heart?)
Clarisse: (I-I can't believe I have that effect on you...)
Clarisse: (Oh geez, I'm totally blushing now, aren't I?)
Continue 1Clarisse: Um... Thanks!
- Should we get going?
Choose: Should we get going?Clarisse: I'd go to the ends of the sky with you...
(Captain) isn't quite able to make out Clarisse's response.
Clarisse: Oh, uh, don't worry about it!
Clarisse: I was thinking maybe we could go for a walk on the beach?
Clarisse: They've got all kinds of stalls and stuff, so it might be kind of fun, right?
(Captain) nods cheerfully in response.
Clarisse: Great! Let's get a move on then!
Clarisse pulls closer to the captain's side.
Clarisse: (I was able to hold hands with (Captain) on Valentine's Day.)
Clarisse: (So it should be no big deal, right? Just go for it!)
Although she can feel herself turning red, she manages to intertwine her pinky with the captain's.
Clarisse: Is it okay? I mean, um... we're on a date after all, right?
(Captain) nods in agreement.
Clarisse: (Ugh, I was trying to go for the whole hand!)
Clarisse: (But it also feels like my heart's about to jump out of my chest...)
Clarisse: ...
Clarisse: (Maybe I should just count my blessings with this one...)
Clarisse: Ehehe, something tells me we're gonna have all kinds of fun today, Captain!
Clarisse continues walking side by side with the captain, wishing the day would never end.
The two continue their walk on the beach, but the conversation has gone silent.
Clarisse: (Gah, I have no idea what to talk about!)
Clarisse: (I was supposed to get it all together after Valentine's Day—what happened?)
Clarisse: (I'd better do something soon, or else...)
Clarisse: (Oh, that's right! I've got a swimsuit on, so maybe we could splash around in—)
Clarisse: Ah!
Clarisse: Oh, no... I totally forgot to put on sunscreen today.
She crouches over, hands covering her face.
Noticing her plight, (Captain) hands her a bottle of sunscreen.
Clarisse: Wait a second... It's the same sunscreen Master gave me before.
Clarisse: When did you get this?
- After an earful on skin care from Cagliostro.
Choose: After an earful on skin care from Cagliostro.Clarisse: I see... Yeah, that sounds like something she'd do.
Clarisse: I'll take you up on your offer then, (Captain)!
Clarisse takes the sunscreen and begins to apply it on her body.
Clarisse: I burn super easily, it's not great.
Clarisse: So you really saved my skin with this, haha!
Clarisse: Oh, can I ask one more favor and get you to do my back?
Clarisse: It's basically impossible to get full coverage there by myself—
Clarisse: ...
Clarisse: (Wait a second... Did I just make a totally brazen request?)
Clarisse: (That means... (Captain)...)
Clarisse: ...!
Clarisse: (Clarisse, you idiot! What the heck are you asking the captain to do to you!)
Clarisse: (If (Captain) goes through with it...)
Clarisse: (That means the captain's gonna be stroking up and down my back!)
Continue 2Clarisse: (No way, no way! There's just no way, right?)
Clarisse: (I mean, that'd never...)
Clarisse: (But if (Captain) were to do it...)
Clarisse: (What the heck am I saying now? Hurry up and come up with something already!)
Clarisse: S-sorry! I should probably explain what I meant. Um...
Clarisse: A-anyway, like I said earlier... My skin's, uh, super sensitive!
Clarisse: So if I don't really lather it on, it could spell trouble, you know!
Clarisse: Um... The thing about that is, well, I can't reach everywhere by myself, see?
Clarisse: And, uh, that's why I asked for your help—I wasn't trying to be weird or anything!
- So, just your back, right?
- Weird?
Clarisse: (There's no way (Captain) would go for it... right?)
Clarisse: (But if she were to say yes...)
Clarisse: (Augh...)
Clarisse: A-anyway, you know how it is... My skin's, uh, super sensitive.
Clarisse: So if I don't really lather it on, it could spell trouble, you know!
Clarisse: Um... The thing about that is, well, I can't reach everywhere by myself, see?
Clarisse: And, uh, that's why I asked for your help—I wasn't trying to be weird or anything...
- So, just your back, right?
- Weird?
Choose: So, just your back, right?Choose: So, just your back, right?Clarisse: Er, um...
Clarisse: Yes. If you wouldn't mind.
(Captain) takes the bottle and begins applying it to her back.
Choose: Weird?Choose: Weird?Clarisse: ...!
Never mind about that part!
Clarisse: So, um... You wouldn't mind, right?
The captain nods and smiles in response, happy to oblige.
(Captain) takes the bottle and begins applying it to her back.
Continue 3However, the task turns out to be easier said than done.
Clarisse: ...!
Wait—not there, (Captain), I'm tick—eeep!
Clarisse: (Captain), you don't have to be so—eyah!
Clarisse: (Gosh, this is so embarrassing! Why am I so ticklish all of a sudden?)
Clarisse: (Just hurry up and finish already... I'm going crazy here!)
Tickled yelps continue to escape Clarisse, fueling her embarrassment and betraying in her voice a hint of joy.
(Captain), however, is too focused on applying a proper coat of sunscreen to notice.
Our Promised Summer: Scene 2
(Captain) and Clarisse are invited by a shopkeeper to try out their Couple's Mocktail. While sharing their drink, Cagliostro and the others pop in to check in on their date. Afterward, the two go for a stroll before Clarisse falls asleep on the captain's lap.
Clarisse and (Captain)'s date continues.
To quench their thirst and relieve themselves from the summer heat, the two stop by a shaved ice stand on the beach.
Clarisse: Oh, you went with melon?
Clarisse: They had orange too, so that's what I went with!
Clarisse helps herself to a big spoonful.
Clarisse: (I'm getting so flustered I can barely look at the captain's face...)
Clarisse: (I mean, it was nice having (Captain) apply sunscreen for me, but...)
Clarisse: (I can't keep going like this today!)
Clarisse: ...
- What's up?
Choose: What's up?Clarisse: Huh? Oh, nothing! I was just wondering how yours tasted, that's all...
(Captain) takes a spoonful of melon-flavored ice and brings it before Clarisse's mouth.
Clarisse: Wait, are you...
- Say "ahh."
Choose: Say "ahh."Clarisse: I knew it...
Clarisse: (Okay. This is not a drill—and we've done this before!)
Clarisse: (And this time we're on an actual date date.)
Clarisse: (So, no biggie, right?)
Clarisse: Ahh...
Clarisse opens wide, taking a bite from the captain's spoon.
Clarisse: (Even though this isn't the first time, it's still nice...)
Clarisse: (We're on a date, sharing shaved ice like lovers!)
Clarisse: O-okay, now it's my turn!
Clarisse: Say "ahh."
The captain is a bit embarrassed, but takes a bite from Clarisse's spoon as well.
Clarisse: Pretty good, right?
(Captain) nods in agreement.
Clarisse: (If we started going steady for real, maybe we could have dates like this all the time.)
Clarisse: (And not only that, but... we could even... kiss.)
Clarisse: (Ngh... What am I even thinking right now!)
Clarisse anxiously begins to scarf down the remaining ice in her cup.
Clarisse: Urk!
The pain is sudden and sharp. A freezing sensation reaches Clarisse's forehead as she slumps over in icy agony.
Clarisse: Oof... My head's killing me...
- Slow down.
Choose: Slow down.Clarisse: Yeah, you're right.
Clarisse: (I can't let my imagination get carried away like that again.)
Clarisse: (Otherwise I'll be too embarrassed to look (Captain) in the eyes...)
Clarisse: Actually, (Captain), I was thinking... Maybe we could check out some of the stalls on the beach when we're done with these?
Clarisse: I'll bet they're selling some interesting stuff!
(Captain) agrees with a warm smile.
After the two finish their cups of shaved ice, they make their way to the beach.
Shopkeeper: Hey there! You, the lovely young couple.
Clarisse: C-couple! M-me and (Captain)?
Clarisse: (Come to think of it, this isn't the first time we've been called that.)
Clarisse: (I guess we really do look like a couple together.)
Clarisse: (Hehe... Isn't that something?)
Shopkeeper: You two look like you could use a refreshment!
Shopkeeper: Really take the time to get to know each other, yeah?
Shopkeeper: We've got a special juice concoction that's said to bring hearts closer together!
Clarisse: Wait, really?
Clarisse: What do you think, (Captain)?
- Let's check it out.
- The offer have you tempted?
Choose: Let's check it out.Clarisse: ...!
Clarisse: (Does (Captain) want for us to get... closer?)
Clarisse: (That would be so nice...)
Choose: The offer have you tempted?Clarisse: Um, well, I mean...
Clarisse: Yeah.
Clarisse: So how about it?
(Captain) readily obliges.
Continue 1Shopkeeper: Thank you kindly! We'll have it ready in a jiffy, so why don't you two take a seat in the meantime?
The two find a seat nearby, taking a break in the shade.
Clarisse: I can't even imagine how some kind of drink is supposed to bring two hearts closer together.
Clarisse: But look at all these couples around us... Maybe there is something to it.
Shopkeeper: Here you are! A special blend of juice crafted just to bring your hearts closer together.
Shopkeeper: But you can just call it the Couple's Mocktail.
After placing a large glass of colorful juice before the two, the server departs with a wink and a smile.
Floating in the glass is a single straw, split into two ends.
Clarisse: ...
Clarisse: (So basically... I'm sharing a drink with (Captain)?)
Clarisse: (I totally ordered more than I can sip with this one!)
Clarisse: (But it's too late to back out now...)
Clarisse: (And if this really works, it'll all be worth it!)
Clarisse: (So I shouldn't hold back—right?)
Clarisse: Well then... Sh-shall we?
(Captain), visibly flustered, nods in agreement.
Clarisse: (The captain's face... it's so close.)
Clarisse: ((Captain), if you keep looking at me like that...)
Clarisse: (I can already feel myself turning red.)
Clarisse: (And I'm totally making a weird face right now, aren't I?)
???: Oho. A Couple's Mocktail, huh? Pretty bold choice, if I say so myself.
???: I feel like I'm gonna blush just watching you two.
Clarisse: Bfwah!
Two familiar voices approach Clarisse from behind.
Clarisse immediately spits out her drink, having been taken by surprise.
Lyria: Ah, Clarisse!
Vyrn: Hey, you okay?
Clarisse: Cough... Ahem! What in the...
Clarisse: Wh-what are you guys doing here? A-and were you... watching?
Cagliostro: Heh-heh... 'course I was. But it looks like you didn't need my help anyway.
Cagliostro: Honestly speaking? I'm pretty impressed with you this time around.
Clarisse: I-I can get the job done when I want to, you know!
Cagliostro: That so? Well, I'll just leave you two lovebirds alone then.
Tikoh: Of course... we wouldn't want to intrude.
Vyrn: Uh, yeah...
Lyria: I wanted to try some of that juice too...
Cagliostro: Don't waste this chance, you got that?
Cagliostro leaves, taking Lyria, Vyrn, and Tikoh along with her.
Clarisse: ...
Clarisse, completely flushed, smacks her head on the table.
(Captain) can't help but smile at her.
The two finish up their Couple's Mocktail, then start looking for a bite to eat.
After finishing their stroll and grabbing some food, the two take a seat by the shore, talking about whatever topics came to mind.
Clarisse: Yawn...
- Feeling sleepy?
Choose: Feeling sleepy?Clarisse: Oh, haha... I guess. Don't you get sleepy after eating too?
Clarisse: (I can't say that I couldn't sleep because I was too nervous about today.)
Clarisse: Anyway, don't mind me.
Clarisse: ...
Clarisse's head lands on (Captain)'s shoulder.
The captain turns to see that she's fallen asleep, with a satisfied smile on her face.
Clarisse: Zzz...
Suppressing a chuckle, (Captain) transfers Clarisse from shoulder to lap, care taken not to interrupt the girl's sweet dreams.
Our Promised Summer: Scene 3
Clarisse wakes up hours later, finding herself still on (Captain)'s lap. Against the backdrop of the summer evening fireworks, she confesses her feelings to the captain. Unfortunately, the words are obscured by the fireworks. Although disappointed in the outcome at first, when the captain asks her to go on another date in the future she resolves to make next time a success.
A few hours have passed since Clarisse fell asleep on (Captain)'s lap.
Clarisse: Mmm...
Clarisse: Huh? When did I fall asleep? I thought I was...
- Good morning.
Choose: Good morning.Clarisse: (Captain)? Why are you...
Clarisse: ...!
Clarisse jolts awake upon realizing what has happened.
Clarisse: Did I doze off? Right in the middle of our date?
Clarisse: I'm so, so sorry!
The captain responds with an amused smile, as if to say there's no need to apologize.
Clarisse: (I can't believe I'd fall asleep right in the middle of our date!)
Clarisse: (And (Captain) totally saw my sleeping face the whole time too...)
Clarisse: (Come to think of it, it felt like I was lying on something soft until just now.)
Clarisse: (Could it be?)
Clarisse turns her attention once again to the captain.
Clarisse: (Captain)... until I woke up just now, was I... using your lap as a pillow?
The captain cheerfully nods in response.
Clarisse: ...!
Clarisse: Ohmigosh, I'm so sorry! I really messed up today, huh?
Clarisse: (Because of course I'd screw up my one big chance with (Captain)... Ugh...)
Clarisse: (I just wanted to get closer to (Captain), and I couldn't even get that right.)
- If you're tired, maybe we should head back?
Choose: If you're tired, maybe we should head back?Clarisse: W-wait!
Clarisse: Um, I heard at the shop earlier that they do fireworks at night not too far from here.
Clarisse: I was thinking maybe we could go check it out together. Unless...
From her downturned face, Clarisse's eyes peek up at the captain as if pleading for permission.
And of course, (Captain) simply can't say no to a look like that.
Clarisse: Thanks, (Captain)! I'll lead the way, so just follow me!
Clarisse: Before we left, I made sure to ask the shopkeeper where the best spot was.
Clarisse takes the captain's hand into her own and begins to walk at a leisurely pace.
Clarisse: (I'm really holding hands with (Captain)...)
Clarisse: (Now what? My heart feels like it's gonna explode again.)
Clarisse: (I hope my palms aren't too sweaty... I don't want (Captain) to think I'm gross or anything.)
She looks at the captain anxiously.
The captain looks back, as if to ask what's the matter.
Clarisse: Oh, um, nothing!
Clarisse: (Phew...)
Clarisse lets out a sigh of relief as her attention is drawn to the captain's hand.
Clarisse: (Hehe... I'm so glad I was able to at least hold the captain's hand.)
Clarisse: ...
Clarisse: (Okay. I might've screwed up a bit, but this date's still salvageable.)
Clarisse: (It's not over 'til it's over, right? I'm still in this.)
Clarisse: (Don't count me out just yet!)
The two find the spot where they can supposedly get a good view of the fireworks.
As the show begins, the two are captivated by its splendor beneath the night sky.
Clarisse: It sure is pretty, (Captain)...
The captain nods, without saying a word.
Clarisse: Thanks, (Captain). For everything today.
Clarisse: And, um... I'm sorry—that you had to put up with my nonsense all day.
Clarisse: The sunscreen, the Couple's Mocktail, and then... falling asleep on your lap.
(Captain), unfazed by the various hiccups, tells Clarisse not to worry about it.
Clarisse: How was it for you, (Captain)? Did you have fun today?
Clarisse: A lot happened, but I sure did!
Clarisse: It'd be nice if we could spend more time together like this...
Clarisse: I really think so, you know.
Clarisse: ...
Clarisse musters her courage, takes a deep breath, and looks directly into (Captain)'s eyes.
Clarisse: There's something I want to tell you, (Captain).
Clarisse: I actually wanted to tell you on Valentine's Day, but that sorta fell through, and...
Clarisse: Well, it's hard for me to say it.
Clarisse: But I think I can now. So I want you to listen.
Clarisse: The thing is, I've always—
Clarisse, now bright red, confesses how she feels about the captain.
However, her voice is interrupted by fireworks as her words are lost to the wind.
Clarisse: So... What do you say, (Captain)?
- Sorry. I couldn't hear you.
- Could you say that one more time?
Choose: Sorry. I couldn't hear you.Clarisse: ...
Clarisse looks down, slumping her shoulders as if defeated.
Clarisse: (After all that effort too...)
Clarisse: (Unbelievable, honestly.)
Clarisse: U-um... I'll tell you next time! Okay?
Choose: Could you say that one more time?Clarisse: D-does that mean... you couldn't hear me over the fireworks?
The captain nods in response.
Clarisse: No way... After I got up the nerve and everything.
Clarisse: (Say it again?)
Clarisse: (There's no way I could say it a second time now!)
Clarisse: U-um... I'll tell you next time! Okay?
Continue 1With those words, Clarisse runs off, covering her face with her hands.
Clarisse: Whoa!
Her escape is cut short when she trips and falls, however.
Clarisse: Ow, ow, ow...
- Are you okay?
Choose: Are you okay?Clarisse: Y-yeah, no worries here!
Clarisse: Oof...
Despite her attempt to look strong, the pain is evident when she tries to stand back up.
She nearly falls to the ground again, but this time the captain is there to catch her.
Clarisse: Phew. Thanks, (Captain).
- Let's turn in for tonight.
Choose: Let's turn in for tonight.Clarisse: Yeah...
Clarisse: Sorry again, (Captain).
Clarisse: Way to totally ruin the end of the date, Clarisse...
- Let's do this again sometime.
Choose: Let's do this again sometime.Clarisse: Again? You want to do this again?
The captain nods, as if to say of course.
Clarisse: Hehe... Another date, huh? Maybe all that work I put in for today paid off after all.
Clarisse: It's a promise, then—you'd better not forget it!
Glad to see that she's feeling better, the captain, one arm already around Clarisse's shoulders, hooks the other under her knees and lifts her off the ground.
Clarisse: Uh, (Captain)? Th-this is kind of embarrassing, you... know...
(Captain) pays no mind to Clarisse's words, and begins walking back.
Clarisse: Ngh...
Clarisse: (But this is actually... kind of nice.)
Clarisse: (I once saw Master carried like this and dreamed that someone would do it for me one day.)
Clarisse: Oh, and about that thing I was gonna tell you earlier.
Clarisse: I don't... think I have the courage to say it again today.
Clarisse: But I'll make sure to say it on our next date.
Clarisse: My feelings, that is...
Clarisse: So just wait a little longer, okay?
Clarisse: And also, could you not look at me for a bit?
Clarisse: My face is probably totally red right now...
Clarisse buries her face in (Captain)'s chest.
Clarisse: (My words didn't quite reach the captain...)
Clarisse: (But I won't mess it up next time. I'll make sure of it.)
Clarisse has taken her first steps with the captain.
Whether or not her wish will come true, only time will tell.
