Happy Birthday Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Sahli Lao: Happy birthday, (Captain)!
The cake's all ready!
But can you wait a bit before digging in?
Milleore: Don't move, (Captain).
Milleore lets loose a hail of arrows, dousing every last fire from the candles on the cake.
How's that for a birthday present?
Sahli Lao: Haha, Milly trained really hard for that.
Milleore: I didn't want to go at it half-baked, even if it was just for fun.
Sahli Lao: The old Milly never would've agreed to something like this. Hehe. Just goes to show how much the two of us have changed.
It'll be my turn next year to do something extra special! Hope you're looking forward to it, (Captain)!
Milleore: Happy birthday, (Captain). Thanks for being our captain.

2

Sahli Lao: Oh! (Captain)! Happy birthday! Huff, huff...
I'm sorry I'm so... out of breath... Oh, by the way, (Captain)! Did you happen to see a cat?
Not our crew members' cats. The one I'm looking for is a stray cat...
Milleore: Lao! I've located our target! It's currently resting within a patch of sunlight on the deck!
Oh, and hello, (Captain). Um, happy birthday.
Sahli Lao: I'm sorry, but could you wait a little bit longer for your present?
Actually, the cat that took away your present before has done it again...
Milleore: But we're already aware of our target's location, and the present appears to be safe. We'll have it back in no time.
Sahli Lao: Huh? You'll look for the cat with us? But it's your special day—we wouldn't want to make you do any unnecessary work...
Milleore: It seems (Captain) wants to see us at work up close.
Sahli Lao: I see... If that's the case, then let's complete this mission with all that we've got.

3

Sahli Lao: It's your birthday today, isn't it, (Captain)?
Here, take this! A birthday present from us!
Milleore: It's a protective amulet. I'm pretty good at sewing, so I tried making one.
Thought I'd switch things up for this year. After all, an archer should never let anyone read their movements.
Sahli Lao: Inside the amulet is a bird's feather that's said to bring good luck.
The both of us also carry something similar. Now we match!
Milleore: If it starts tearing or fraying, just let me know. I'll fix it for you anytime.

4

Milleore: Oh... (Captain)...
Sahli Lao:Happy birthday...
The pair's lackluster response worries (Captain), prompting the captain to ask for more details.
Sahli Lao: The truth is, we took on a job so we could buy a present for you.
Milleore: The client ended up not paying and disappeared on us. We wasted all our time and effort.
We're really sorry... If you can just wait a little bit longer, we'll get you a present.
After listening to their story, (Captain) asks the duo if the crew's payments haven't been enough.
Milleore: No, it's not like that at all.
We're really satisfied with the pay we get as crewmembers. We fight alongside the crew with pride in our hearts.
Sahli Lao: But we wanted to go with a different plan.
It was our goal to buy you a present using our own funds.
Milleore: A present brought with the money you give us is the same as giving you back the money.
It feels a bit meaningless. That's why we wanted to work hard to earn our own money.
Sahli Lao: So please, just wait a little bit more!
Unable to change their minds, (Captain) sends the pair off as they hastily leave to go on a new mission.

1

Sahli Lao: Ah, (Captain)! Happy New Year!
I'm doing maintenance on my bow with Milly right now.
Milleore: The fact that it's New Year's is no excuse to be lax with bow maintenance.
But you can relax, (Captain). Us two will be on the lookout for any trouble.
(Captain) brings them a special meal as thanks for their efforts.
Sahli Lao: This is for us? Gee, thanks!
Milleore: Hold it. Who's going to keep watch while we're eating?
(Captain) offers to take up the task.
Milleore: You do know we're doing this just so you can take it easy, right? You being on guard duty defeats the whole purpose.
Sahli Lao: Ahaha, what a (Captain) thing to do.
Milleore: It might be a new year, but it's our same ol' captain.
Though dumbstruck, Milleore lets out her first smile of the year.

2

Sahli Lao: Happy New Year, (Captain).
Milleore: As always, you're up early. Diligent right from the start of the year—I wouldn't have expected any less from you.
Sahli Lao: Oh, us? We're thinking of doing some light exercise before heading to the shrine.
Milleore: Yes. We want to pray for success in our work this year.
Milleore: Is that surprising? I care about this kind of thing a lot, actually. There're some aspects you can't help even if you do your best, after all.
Sahli Lao: And success in work isn't all we're praying for. We need to wish for the well-being of everyone in our crew as well.
Sahli Lao: Most of all, I'm just excited about going to the shrine together with Milly.
Milleore: Would you like to come too, (Captain)?
Milleore: No, I don't mind. If you're interested, let's go together.
Sahli Lao: Wow, a shrine visit with (Captain)? Looks like it's going to be a great year, Milly!
Milleore: I guess so.

3

Milleore: Every time I see kites flying on New Year's, the sight reminds me of shooting practice. I start to get an itch.
Sahli Lao: I know what you mean. My body almost acts instinctively—makes me want to practice my shots.
Sahli Lao: Oh, (Captain). Happy New Year. Were you listening to our conversation just now?
Sahli Lao: Don't worry. We won't actually shoot at the kites—
Milleore: Well, I did just do some maintenance on my bow. This would be the perfect chance to try it.
Sahli Lao: M-Milly! Are you serious?
Milleore: I'm just joking... I was trying to tell a joke to make it a fun New Year's Day, but you took it so seriously.
Sahli Lao: Ahaha... Right...
Milleore: You too, (Captain). What're you looking so surprised for? I would never do something like that. You should trust your contractors a bit more.

4

Sahli Lao: (Captain)! Happy New Year!
Milleore: Another chance for new beginnings. What are you hoping for this year, (Captain)?

  • Choose: Good health!
Sahli Lao: That's right. It's important for mercenaries to take care of themselves.
We should mind our bodies and be at our best when battling.
  • Choose: Peace for all!
Milleore: I expected no less from you, (Captain). You always want peace.
And I'm sure many others wish for the same thing.

In return, (Captain) asks the pair for their wishes.
Sahli Lao: What do we want?
Milleore: I want to be with Lao...
Sahli Lao: I want to be with Milly...
Both: And stay as close partners.
Milleore: That's all.
As the two talk about their bond, (Captain) can't help but smile.

1

Milleore: Here, (Captain). Take this.
Sahli Lao: It's our Valentine's present to you! Hope you like it!
Milleore: Lao and I made it together. Store-bought ones aren't bad either, but we didn't want to accidentally buy the same one.
This took some effort, but the end result's something really special. It was worth it. So, yeah, it's handmade...
Sahli Lao: You know, Milly, if you had just come with me to the confectionery, we could have easily avoided buying the same one.
Milleore: Stop right there, Lao.

2

Sahli Lao: Milly... Today is the day. I'm getting really nervous.
Milleore: What're you getting so worked up for? You look like you're about to risk your life for a mission.
Sahli Lao: Are you not nervous at all, Milly? It's our first time making chocolates separately without consulting each other first.
What if we chose to make the same kind?
Milleore: Even if they're the same kind of chocolates, they'll still taste different.
I prepared some white chocolates, by the way.
Sahli Lao: I made milk chocolates.
The Two: Phew...
Sahli Lao: Well then, let's go give these to (Captain), shall we?
Milleore: Right. Can I try your chocolates later?
Sahli Lao: Of course. In exchange, you'll have to let me try yours too.

3

Sahli Lao: Shall we check what kind of chocolate each of us prepared this year, Milly?
Sahli Lao: We managed not to get the same thing last year, but there's still the possibility of it happening this year.
Milleore: Okay. This year, I prepared some bitter dark chocolate, because I wanted something different from last year.
Sahli Lao: Whew, that's good! I went with something called "ruby chocolate"—it's an interesting variety of chocolate.
Milleore: Ooh, I've never heard of it before. Can I see?
Sahli Lao: Sure, here it is. Isn't it pretty?
Milleore: Oh.
Sahli Lao: What's the matter? Something strange about the chocolate?
Milleore: It's not the kind of chocolate per se... It's the shape. Our chocolates are in the same shape.
Sahli Lao: Huh? Oh, you're right!
Sahli Lao: Who knew this kind of coincidence could happen... Haha, I can't help laughing.
Milleore: Hehe. This will be a pleasant surprise in itself.

4

Two silhouettes face each other in the Grandcypher's kitchen.
Milleore: And? Are you going to explain?
Sahli Lao: Umm... Well...
Milleore: Lao. You promised that you wouldn't try to be secretive about the recipe when we make chocolate together.
Why are you being sneaky?
Sahli Lao: It's always been my intention to make (Captain)'s present with you!
I would never break our promise!
Milleore: Then can you explain why there's already chocolate over there?
Sahli Lao: W-well...
There were extra ingredients, so I thought about making some chocolate for you too.
It was supposed to be a surprise...
Milleore: Oh? Well, that definitely caught me by surprise.
Maybe it's because we've been working together for so long that we end up with similar ideas...
Sahli Lao: Huh?
Milleore: It's nothing. Well, now that you've been found out, there's no point in hiding anymore.
Let's just go ahead and make chocolate together.

Milleore: (Captain), what's this? White Day presents for us?
Sahli Lao: Gee, thanks! Look what (Captain) got us, Milly!
Milleore: Simmer down, Lao. You're embarrassing me.
(Captain) explains that it was difficult picking out the best possible presents for them.
Sahli Lao: Now you've really got my hopes up! Let's take a peek...
Wow! Feather-shaped cookies! They're so colorful too! What's in your package, Milly?
Milleore: It's a secret...
Sahli Lao: Huh? Your face tells me you're super pleased with it though.
Milleore: Not really... I'll just say it's not a bad gift.
Sahli Lao: That makes me all the more curious! You have to show me!
Ooh, rabbit-shaped cookies! How cute!
Milleore: Yeah. You could say that...

2

Sahli Lao: You mean you prepared White Day gifts for us again this year? Thank you very much!
Milleore: I'm very grateful, but are you sure it's all right to give us so much?
We're mercenaries for hire, so we already receive enough compensation for our work.
Sahli Lao: Ah, that's true. Are you certain you're not pushing yourself too hard to do this?
(Captain) explains that the gifts are an extra token of appreciation because the two of them deserve it.
Milleore: Just hearing those words is quite the reward.
Sahli Lao: Indeed! I'm looking forward to trying these!
Milleore: Me too. Thank you, (Captain).

3

Sahli Lao: (Captain), are those White Day presents for us again? Thank you so much!
Milleore: Thank you for the gift.
Also... I'm sorry for mentioning compensation and things last year. It was tactless of me.
I'd forgotten that you were the type of person to happily give gifts regardless of the compensation or contract.
I'd be wary of catches if it was any other employer.
Sahli Lao: This really just shows what a great person (Captain) is! I'm sure we'll continue to get along just fine from here on out.
Milleore: I believe so too. I don't intend to be friends per se, but I hope we can work well with one another.

4

One day, (Captain) is looking for Milleore and Sahli Lao.
After a brief search, the captain finds the two standing on the deck of the airship.
Choose: Happy White Day!
Sahli Lao: Thank you, (Captain).
Milleore: I know I should thank you, but for some reason it feels a little awkward.
(Captain) senses something else in Milleore's words and decides to ask why.
Milleore: Good question... Well, mercenaries are bound to their employers via a contract, right?
If you think about it, the contract is no more than a thread tying us together. Once broken, there's nothing else.
Sahli Lao: But (Captain) is more than just an employer.
The captain always cares for us, not just because today's White Day.
Milleore: It feels like our ties have gone beyond simply being mercenary and employer.
Although it's difficult to explain, it strangely makes me feel happy.
While Milleore bashfully expresses her thoughts, Sahli Lao gives a big smile.
Watching the two, (Captain)'s heart fills with warmth.

Trick or Treat Cutscenes

1

Sahli Lao: Ah, (Captain)! H-happy Halloween!
Wh-why don't you have some of this candy? Here, take as much as you'd like!
Sensing a presence from behind, (Captain) turns around to face it before accepting Sahli Lao's candy.
Milleore: ...!
Sahli Lao: Aw, you came so close!
The two confess that they plotted to trick the captain, who was supposed to be too preoccupied with accepting the treats to notice Milleore approaching.
Milleore: You being on edge gave us away, Lao. What an easy tell that was.
Sahli Lao: Shucks...
Milleore: We'll get it right next time. Just you wait, (Captain).
Sahli Lao: Mm-hm, we'll just have to rethink our strategy!

2

Milleore: Happy Halloween, (Captain).
Today's quite the festive night. It makes me want to take some time to enjoy the occasion.
I suppose I could try saying what is customary on this day—trick or treat!
Though slightly taken aback by Milleore's sudden words, (Captain) fishes out a piece of candy as requested.
What? You... actually have candy with you?
Sahli Lao: Looks like we failed. I didn't think you'd still have some treats on hand, (Captain).
At the sudden voice from behind, the captain spins around to see Sahli Lao scratching her head as she approaches.
Sahli Lao: We thought to work together to surprise you this year, but it seems we've failed again.
Milleore: Quite embarrassing to have made a mistake two years in a row, I must say.
Huh? You were surprised at my "trick or treat"?
Sahli Lao: Hmm, then I guess it was a partial success?
Milleore: Yes, partial—but that won't cut it. Let's try again next year.

3

Sahli Lao: (Captain)!
Sahli Lao spots (Captain) and approaches at full speed, wrapping her arms around the captain tightly.
Sahli Lao: Caught you! Hehe, you let your guard down, didn't you?
Milleore: We win this year, (Captain).
We thought it'd be suspicious if we waited for an opening, so we decided to charge at you head-on.
What? We're confusing the idea of a "trick" for a surprise attack? Either way, the goal would be the same—surprising you. We're not the type to be selective in our tactics.
Sahli Lao: Phew... I'm glad it worked. Now we can go ahead and get our Halloween treats!
Milleore: While clinging on to (Captain) like that? Well, if that's how you like it, who am I to say?
Sahli Lao: Wait, th-th-that's not what I meant!
That was embarrassing... I thought I'd won, but for some reason I feel weird now...

4

Today is Halloween. As usual, (Captain) is walking around and passing out candies.
But as soon as (Captain) hands out the last piece of candy, a surprise happens!
Milleore: Don't move! Trick or...
Sahli Lao: Treat!
Milleore: We've been carefully watching you all day long, (Captain).
You've finally run out of candy.
Sahli Lao: As snipers, our specialty is observing our target for long periods of time.
Now that you're all out of candy, it's time to leap into action! Here comes our prank!
The two rush at (Captain) from the front and back.
But their faces quickly change from confidence to surprise.
Milleore: No way!
Sahli Lao: You had candy hidden up your sleeves?
Choose: Happy Halloween!
Milleore: We've been defeated. I had no idea you had a secret stash.
Sahli Lao: It feels like we were the ones who got tricked...

Milleore: Oh, (Captain). Surprised to see me at the party?
Sahli Lao: I invited her. It's a special night, so I thought we might as well enjoy it together.
Milleore: I'm not the biggest fan of noisy places, but showing your face every once in a while is part of a mercenary's job.
Though I do leave all the tiresome social etiquette to Lao. Engaging in dull pleasantries isn't my thing.
Sahli Lao: Except you talk to (Captain) and a bunch of others in the crew pretty often. Maybe you don't hate it as much as you think you do.
Milleore: I've simply gotten used to it. People tend to gather around (Captain), so chances for conversation naturally arise.
Sahli Lao: Haha, so she says... But you should know, (Captain), she rarely smiles like that around other people.
Milleore: Well, it's tiring, but it's not all that bad.

2

Milleore: I have to say, it's quite cold this holy night.
Sahli Lao: Yes, I heard the cold weather will be quite severe this year. How I miss the kotatsu back on the ship...
Since we got everything we needed to get, let's head back before we catch a cold.
Milleore: Right.
Sahli Lao: Hm? What's the matter, Milly?
Milleore: I never used to mind chilly weather like this... before we started journeying with (Captain).
Sahli Lao: You think so? Hm, now that you mention it, I guess you're right.
Milleore: I wonder if it's because we've gotten so used to the warmth of the crew.
Sahli Lao: I think it's less the warmth, and more our mental state. We're able to notice these changes because we can afford to now.
Milleore: Ah, wording. But you're not wrong—that's probably it.
It's clear how much we've grown since we started traveling with (Captain).
Sahli Lao: Yes. That's why we came out today, after all—to buy a present for (Captain) as a sign of our appreciation.
I hope the captain likes it.
Milleore: Me too. Let's go and put it next to (Captain)'s pillow before anyone notices.

3

Milleore: Santa Claus... I am curious.
Sahli Lao: Oho, rare of you to take interest in something like that, Milly. Do you have an item you're hoping to get as a present?
Milleore: Not really. It's not like I want to receive a gift—what I'm interested in is the sleigh.
Santa Claus delivers presents to all the children in the skies in a single night, right?
A sleigh with that sort of performance, durability, and speed... It must be a superior vehicle. I'm sure it'd be useful for mercenaries.
So I really just want to see the sleigh.
I mean, if there are presents, I'll take them of course.
Sahli Lao: Hehe. I hope you can meet Santa Claus this year, Milly.

4

Sahli Lao: Happy holidays, (Captain)!
Milleore: The party's off to a great start this year. It looks like everyone's really enjoying themselves.
Sahli Lao: Hehe, it's funny hearing you saying something like that, Milly.
Milleore: What do you mean?
Sahli Lao: You'd always say how social events just weren't your thing.
Milleore: I mean, you get used to it year after year.
And it's not that hard to relax with all these familiar faces around me.
Sahli Lao: Hehe. Watching you have fun makes me happy.
Milleore: Hey, don't start teasing me now.
But honestly, it's not bad. Having events like this from time to time is a good way to let go of stress.
Sahli Lao: You're right. Let's have lots of fun today.
Milleore: And so that's what we'll be doing. We'll see you around.
Sahli Lao: Excuse us, (Captain).

Mercenary Pride

Eager to prove their worth, Sahli Lao and Milleore ask that they alone be allowed to deal with a bandit threat. After receiving consent, they immediately launch an attack on enemy territory. The bandit leader, however, isn't fazed at their assault.

The crew accepts an assignment from a village to eliminate a band of former mercenaries-turned-bandits.
Milleore and Sahli Lao, after hearing the details of the assignment, have a proposal for the captain.
Milleore: Hey, (Captain). Do you think you can leave the next mission to me and Lao?
Milleore not in crew

Milleore is a skilled mercenary who appears cold and reserved, but is actually quite passionate at heart.
After working with her for a security assignment and seeing her capabilities firsthand, the crew decided to hire her full-time.
Vyrn: Hm? You two look really gung ho about this. What's the deal?
Sahli Lao: You know how we helped Sturm and Drang transport that merchant's cargo the other day?
Sahli Lao not in crew

Sahli Lao is a former soldier who was raised in the same hometown as Milleore.
When she failed a promotion exam due to a mistake stemming from timidity, she went on an adventure to toughen herself up and met the crew along the way.
Sahli Lao: We had our hands full with holding the monsters off and couldn't do much else... The job fell apart after that too.
Sahli Lao: After talking it out between me and Milly, we decided this upcoming mission would be the perfect chance to test our skills and see what we can really do for the crew!
Milleore: They don't need to know that, Lao.
Lyria: Oh, but you two are already a huge help to the crew! We couldn't have gotten past that situation without your help!
Milleore: I appreciate the sentiment, but this is a problem that affects our pride.
Milleore: If we can't perform up to standard, then we don't deserve to be in this crew.
Milleore: That's why we'd like you to evaluate our abilities and see if we're really worth keeping on, (Captain).
Sahli Lao: Considering it's been a while since we first joined up, this is as good a time as ever for a performance review.
Milleore: In other words, we'd like you to decide on our contract renewal based on the results of this mission.
Vyrn: If you two are that determined, then I don't see any problem leavin' it to ya. Whaddya say, (Captain)?
  1. I expect great things from you.
  2. Don't push yourselves too hard.

Choose: I expect great things from you.
Milleore: We'll earn our keep. Nothing more, nothing less.
Sahli Lao: We'll do our best to make you proud, (Captain)!

Choose: Don't push yourselves too hard.
Milleore: No worries there. We mercenaries value staying alive above all else. You can count on us to come back in one piece.
Sahli Lao: Truth is, Milly wants to continue traveling with you guys—
Milleore: Lao...
Sahli Lao: Haha. Anyway, we'll be sure to stay safe.
Continue 1
Faced with their fiery determination, (Captain) decides to leave the bandit cleanup mission to them.
The crew arrives at the designated village.
Milleore and Sahli Lao venture forth into bandit territory, where a battle ensues.
Bandit 1: Blast it! Shifty little rascals!
Milleore: Pay attention.
Bandit 1: ...!
Milleore makes use of the tricky terrain, getting the drop on a bandit and rendering him immobile with a few well-placed arrows around his footing.
Bandit 1: Tch, had me worried for nothing! Do you even know how to aim that thi—
Sahli Lao: My turn!
Bandit 1: Urgh!
Peeking out from behind a boulder to shoot an extra-large arrow is Sahli Lao. It lands firmly in the bandit's chest, who passes out.
Sahli Lao runs over to her companion.
Sahli Lao: We did it, Milly!
Milleore: Nice work, Lao. You're sharper than ever.
Sahli Lao: Haha, my hands are a bit shaky with anxiety though.
Sahli Lao: You stop our enemies from moving with a flurry of arrows, giving me the chance to land a clean hit...
Sahli Lao: This strategy works so well because of our trust in each other. There's no way this mission can go wrong!
Milleore: Don't you think you're speaking of trust too lightly?
Sahli Lao: Not at all. For comrades in arms, trust is everything.
Milleore: Comrades in arms, eh?
Sahli Lao: Haha, there's no need to be bashful about it. It's not like anyone is listening in.
Milleore: Lao... If you're done teasing me, then we need to continue the assault while the enemy is dazed.
Sahli Lao: Right!
Employing their highly effective tactic, the two continue to take out the opposition.
The bandits grow irritated at seeing their numbers dwindle.
Bandit Leader: Damn it! Someone finish 'em off already!
Bandit 2: Boss! We've lost half our members, and nothing we do seems to be working!
Bandit 2: It won't be long before we're wiped out...
Bandit Leader: Punks in the village must've hired some top dog mercs!
Bandit Leader: Who are they exactly!
Bandit 2: A unit of two bow-wielding pipsqueaks!
Bandit Leader: What the... Tell me more.
Bandit 2: One of them dual wields crossbows, while the other one uses a single giant crossbow.
A spark of recognition shines in the bandit leader's eyes as he takes in this description.
Bandit Leader: Heheh... I think I know this pair. Ooh, this is gonna be fun.
Bandit Leader: We'll teach them not to push their luck! It's time to fight back, boys!
The bandit leader speaks those foreboding words with a triumphant grin.

Special Comrades in Arms

When Sahli Lao finds herself surrounded by bandits during the battle, Milleore breaks her out of the entrapment. As they run off, Milleore notices something about the bandit leader.

Bandit 2: Raaagh!
Sahli Lao: Milleore! I need to reload!
Milleore: Okay, I'll cover you.
Bandit 2: Ack!
Milleore: Their screams tell us exactly where they are. This is too easy.
The archer duo continues to take out bandit after bandit.
Bandit 3: Waaargh!
Milleore: Reloading.
Sahli Lao: I've got this!
Bandit 3: Urgh!
Milleore: Now this is odd. Why are they yelling when they get behind me...
Bandit 4: Hraaah!
Bandit 5: Aaaargh!
Sahli Lao: It's a pincer attack!
Milleore: We'll have to split up. Lao, maybe you can find a treetop to snipe from.
As the battle drags on, Milleore begins to feel uneasy.
Milleore: (Something's not right... If they really wanted to ambush us, they'd be more careful about keeping quiet.)
Milleore: (Could they be leading us on?)
Milleore: (Ugh, how careless of me! I have to let Lao know!)
Sensing encroaching danger for her companion, Milleore fires two arrows into the air.
Sahli Lao: ...!
Sahli Lao stiffens at the sight of the arrows shooting upward.
Sahli Lao: That's a warning sign! What's happening?
Sahli Lao: Either way, it's better if I get down and regroup with Milly.
As Sahli Lao comes out of the shrubbery...
Multiple figures close in on her position.
Bandit 6: Heheh! You're not gettin' away!
Sahli Lao: ...!
When did you...
Finding herself surrounded, Sahli Lao begins to panic.
Bandit Leader: Get up close and personal, boys!
Sahli Lao: (Crud! I won't be able to reload in time!)
Sahli Lao: (There must be something I can do!)
Bandit 6: Hehe, feeling flustered, are ya? Serves you right!
Bandit 6: You're gonna pay for taking out my buddies!
Sahli Lao: Rgh!
Bandit 6: Wha!
An arrow strikes his sword the moment he lifts it, knocking him off balance.
Milleore: Get away from Lao. Don't expect me to stay calm if anything happens to her.
Milleore: I make it a point not to hit any vitals, but once I lose my calm, who knows where my arrows might land.
Bandit 6: Damn you...
Sahli Lao: Milly!
Milleore: Get over here! Now!
With Milleore's support, Sahli Lao manages to break free of her entrapment.
Sahli Lao: Thanks, Milly. But how did they—
Milleore: Questions later. For now, we have to retreat and rethink our strategy.
The duo slips through a narrow path that the bulky bandits will not be able to pass through.
Bandit Leader: Some of you circle to the other side so we can trap them in there!
Milleore: (That's their boss... How do we get to him?)
Bandit Leader: Leave the sniper for now! Focus on the rapid-firing one!
Milleore: (They know about us?)
Milleore: (Where have I seen that man before...)
Milleore mutters to herself as she takes another glance at the bandit leader.

Special Comrades in Arms: Scene 2

After shaking off their pursuers, the Harvin duo decide on their next plan of action. Realizing that the bandit leader is a mercenary that they had previously worked with in the army and so likely knows their tactics, the two use that as the premise of their counteroffensive.

After shaking off their pursuers, Milleore and Sahli Leo find a large boulder to hide behind and discuss their next plan of action.
Sahli Lao: I didn't think they'd figure out my location...
Sahli Lao: I'm sorry. It's my fault... I should've paid more attention to my surroundings...
Milleore: You can apologize later. Figuring out a way to rout them comes first.
Milleore: Besides, I was at fault too for exposing you to danger.
Milleore: Sigh... I didn't expect that man to show up though.
Sahli Lao: Huh? What do you mean?
Milleore: That bandit leader knows how we operate.
Sahli Lao: Impossible! It's supposed to be a military secret...
Milleore: That'd normally be the case, but our army once hired him as a mercenary.
Milleore: Though we fired him as soon as we figured out he was the type to immediately turn tail and leave his allies to be slaughtered as soon as an op was going south.
Milleore: Rumors of his misconduct persisted for some time after that. I thought the gossip had simply died down; turns out he simply went on to be a bandit.
Sahli Lao: That explains why he knows our tactics so well!
Milleore: Right. We have to act under the assumption that he knows everything we're capable of.
Sahli Lao: So we basically always have to be two steps ahead of him...
Milleore: If we understand our enemy, then there's a way. We just have to figure out what that is.
They rack their brains trying to formulate a plan B, but nothing worthwhile comes to mind.
Sahli Lao: How about this: we split up and each try to take a shot at their boss.
Milleore: I wouldn't be surprised if they already have a countermeasure in place for that tactic. The moment they realize we're separated, we'll be in danger.
Sahli Lao: Hm, you're right... They're a pretty crafty bunch after all.
Stroking her chin in contemplation, Sahli Lao falls silent.
Sahli Lao: Hehe.
Milleore: Hey, snap back to reality.
Sahli Lao: Oh, I'm here all right.
Sahli Lao: You might think I'm being a little too lighthearted about this, but I had a sudden flashback of the good old days.
Sahli Lao: Remember how we used to huddle together like this for strat meets back in the army?
Milleore: Sure do. It took a lot of trial and error before we figured out how to fight effectively as a team.
Milleore: I still remember how you almost killed me one time during a mock battle.
Sahli Lao: Aw, c'mon, Milly! I was so tense that my hand slipped, and the arrow only slightly brushed your head anyway!
Sahli Lao: What a strange thing for you to recall...
Milleore: Hehe, right back at you.
Milleore uses the chance to throw her companion a mischievous smirk.
Sahli Lao: But things have changed. I'm no longer the fraidy-cat I used to be!
Milleore: Yeah, we've definitely gotten better. And we'll get through this hurdle just the same.
Milleore: Anyone seeing you in action today wouldn't dare say that you might as well just attach your bow to a Lignoid.
Sahli Lao: Ergh... How about we quit bringing up the bad memories...
Milleore & Sahli Lao: ...!
Epiphanies come to the pair at the same time. They trade glances.
Sahli Lao: You too, Milly?
Milleore: Let's see what we have...
It turns they each came up with the very same plan.
Sahli Lao: Haha, talk about a coinkydink. We're not comrades-in-arms for nothing.
Milleore: Hold it. This could end up being a suicide run. It's too risky.
Sahli Lao: Which is why the enemy won't be seeing us coming. Our chances should be pretty good.
Sahli Lao: I say we go through with this, as dangerous as it might be!
Sahli Lao: Just like I place my trust in you, Milly, I want you to place your trust in me!
Milleore: Lao...
Milleore: Your hands are shaking.
Sahli Lao: N-no... Well, I mean—They'll stop shaking when the time comes!
Sahli Lao: Let me prove that I'm no longer the gutless wonder I used to be!
Milleore: Okay...
As Sahli Lao is about to withdraw her hands, Milleore affectionately grips them.
Milleore: I'm with you all the way.
Sahli Lao: ...!
Thanks!
Seeing her companion finally ease up, Milleore lets go.
Milleore: Lao, it's time for our counteroffensive. Let's show them what we're made of.
Sahli Lao: We can do this!
The duo go over their strategy one last time before setting out.

Special Comrades in Arms: Scene 3

The bandits pay no heed to Milleore as she tries to distract them and surround what they surmise to be Sahli Lao’s location. However, they stand dumbfounded when they find only her crossbow attached to a tree. Milleore uses this opportunity to take them all out at once. Sahli Lao comes out of hiding so that the pair can take on the bandit leader together.

The two Harvin archers each move to their respective positions.
With a prayer in her heart, Sahli Lao steadies her breath as if to buoy herself.
Sahli Lao: (Stay calm, Lao... You can do this...)
Sahli Lao: (There won't be a second shot at this... If I mess up, Milly and I will...)
Sahli Lao: (No, I have to stay positive! Milly's counting on me!)
Sahli Lao: (Most importantly... this isn't going to work if I can't even believe in myself!)
Sahli Lao: It's time to overcome my fears and be the brave sniper I know I can be!
On the frontlines, Milleore clashes with the bandits.
Bandit Leader: Heh heh, how nice of you to pop out and say hello. Saves us the trouble of hunting you down!
Milleore: Yah!
The rapid fire from Milleore's crossbows does little to divert the bandits' attention, as they simply go around her.
Bandit Leader: Are you some kinda one-trick pony? I already know your methods inside out!
Bandit Leader: Charge right through, boys! They ain't gettin' away this time!
Milleore: ...!
Stop right there!
The bandits dash right past her, as if making a mockery of the fleet-footed archer.
Bandit Leader: Go on! Keep pushing—
Bandit Leader: ...!
The bandits stop in their tracks when an arrow from straight ahead comes flying toward them.
However, it loses wind and lands on the ground behind them.
Bandit Leader: Psh, didn't even graze a single one of us. She must be quakin' in her boots.
Bandit Leader: It's time we ended this hunt!
Preparing to surround the area that the arrow came from...
The emboldened bandits quicken their pace.
However, in place of Sahli Lao, they find a large crossbow strapped to a tree.
Bandit Leader: What the hell? Where's that brat hid—
Milleore: I'd hate to be in your shoes right now.
With a series of swift maneuvers, Milleore manages to incapacitate the lesser bandits from behind.
Their boss, now standing alone, grinds his teeth at the sight of Sahli Lao behind Milleore.
Bandit Leader: Damn... You got me good!
Milleore: We figured you already knew our usual strategy, so we turned that against you.
Milleore: After leading you all on with that bow as a decoy, taking your men out was easier than target practice.
Bandit Leader: Tch... I walked right into your trap.
Bandit Leader: Only thing I don't get is you havin' the guts to prance around the battlegrounds without your weapon. Not exactly somethin' a sane person would do.
Sahli Lao: I had faith.
Bandit Leader: Wha?
Sahli Lao: I had faith that Milly would be able to pull it off. I was willing to bet my life on her, just as she trusted me to do my part.
Sahli Lao: It's something that a perpetual traitor like you would never understand.
Bandit Leader: Heh... You talk a big game!
Enraged by the insult, the bandit leader charges at Milleore.
Bandit Leader: Take this!
Milleore: Too slow.
Sensing imminent danger, Milleore leaps backward and readies her bow.
But before she can get a shot off, the bandit leader whips out a gun and trains it on the nimble archer.
Bandit Leader: Heheh, your mistake for thinking I can only fight up close!
Milleore: Rgh!
Bandit Leader: Boy does it feel good to have you former aces of the military wrapped around my finger.
Bandit Leader: You know, I always did take note of you two back in the day. Realized that even little squirts like yourselves could be strong.
Bandit Leader: That's why it'd be a real shame to kill you off.
Milleore: ...
What are you getting at?
Bandit Leader: Agree to work for me, and I'll spare your lives.
Bandit Leader: You can start by plunderin' as many valuables as you can from your crew. We'll make a fortune sellin' it all.
Bandit Leader: It'll be a give-and-take relationship. 'Sides, you were ready to jump ship from that crew anyway.
Milleore: You're right in that we work for cash. And contracts are temporary by nature.
Bandit Leader: Exactly. All the more reason for you to join—
Milleore: The answer is no.
Bandit Leader: Care to elaborate?
Milleore: You could give me a hundred times more than I earn now, and the answer would still be no.
Milleore: (Captain)'s crew might not be the most stable place to be, but something about it just feels right for us.
Bandit Leader: You do realize your lives are on the line, right?
Milleore: Doesn't matter. A lowlife like you who's made a living out of betraying people left and right?
Milleore: There'd no way you'd ever understand our commitment to loyalty.
Bandit Leader: Grr...
Bandit Leader: Go to hell already!
Moments before he can pull the trigger, the shrill sound of clashing metal resonates.
Milleore had kept the bandit leader distracted just long enough for Sahli Lao to grab her bow and fire off a bolt.
Sahli Lao: Not on my watch!
Milleore: Nice one, Lao.
The duo is united once more, ready to face off against the bandit leader.
Milleore: This is the end of the road for you. You can't beat us.
Sahli Lao: Prepare yourself!
Bandit Leader: Yaaargh!

Special Comrades in Arms: Scene 4

Having successfully routed the bandits, Milleore and Sahli Lao reaffirm both the progress they've made and the special bond they share. The two return to the Grandcypher to report the mission's completion, confident that they've shown (Captain) their worth and once more eager to continue journeying through the skies together.

Milleore: Lao, let's finish this! Follow my lead!
Sahli Lao: Roger!
The Two: Bullseye!
Bandit Leader: Ungh!
The arrows unleashed by the pair meet their mark on the bandit leader's chest. He staggers.
Milleore: Now you see what we're capable of.
Milleore: Traveling with (Captain) has helped us hone our skills, unlike a certain reprobate who's fallen to the level of a lowly bandit.
Bandit Leader: Damn it all...
Scrunching his face in pain, he loses consciousness and collapses onto the ground.
Milleore: Phew... Mission complete.
Sahli Lao: We did it, Milly!
Milleore: Thanks to you, Lao. It's because you were willing to risk it all for the operation that we were able to fool them.
Milleore: Think you've got a handle on your willies now?
Sahli Lao: Yeah, all the adventuring with (Captain) and crew has done wonders for me. Even if I was sweating throughout this entire battle...
Sahli Lao: But you being around made the biggest difference, Milly! We're undefeatable when we're a pair!
Milleore: I suppose we are.
Milleore reciprocates Sahli Lao's smile with one of her own.
Having reaffirmed the special bond they share, the duo returns to (Captain) and company.
The crew greets the Harvin archers on their return with smiles all around.
Vyrn: Heyo! Looks like you guys pulled it off!
Lyria: I'm so glad you two are safe!
Milleore: Well, we weren't exactly safe the whole way through...
Milleore: But we ended up getting through it okay. Tell us what you think, (Captain).
  1. You pass with flying colors!
  2. Looking forward to more work with you.

Choose: You pass with flying colors!
Sahli Lao: Hooray! This means we get to continue traveling with (Captain)!
Milleore: So that settles it. Our contract's getting renewed.
Milleore: You can expect us to exceed expectations from here on out.
Sahli Lao: I'll give it my all too, (Captain)!

Choose: Looking forward to more work with you.
Milleore: Likewise.
Milleore: So that settles it. Our contract's getting renewed.
Milleore: You can expect me to be pulling more than my own weight from here on out.
Sahli Lao: I'll give it my all too, (Captain)!
Continue 1
Having successfully completed the mission, the two further establish their credence with (Captain).
Their efforts as the famed Harvin archer duo of the crew will surely come to garner much attention.
