Hmm...
Oh... Happy New Year, (Captain). I'm impressed you came all the way to the Skydome Temple to pay your respects.
I was thinking a little about my goals for this year, you see.
I have many, but among them are a few that may be difficult to realize...
Like making Mahira do an impression of Charlotta from the Lumiel Order of Holy Knights.
I'd really like to see Catura's impression of Pholia, the former ruler of Idelva, too.
Or maybe even an impression of the Kingdom of Levin's Yurius from Payila.
Creating the perfect occasion where making impressions is a suitable activity... could be rather difficult though.
Hmm... How should I go about creating the situation? Quite the ordeal...

Hehe... Hehehe...
Oh, it's you, (Captain). Hello.
Look. I received chocolate from the Divine Generals.
I was finally able to meet them because of the incident in Dharma, but I never expected them to remember me personally.
As long as they continued their jobs, my existence would hardly be of importance... At least that's what I thought.
But now that I've received Valentine's chocolate from them, my previous sentiments have disappeared without a trace.
I'm going to savor this...
Oh, before I forget.
This is for you. Homemade chocolate from the Keeper of Medicine herself. Good things will come to you if you eat it.
It hardly holds a candle to chocolate from the Divine Generals, but I do think they turned out nicely.

Oh, for me? A return gift... for White Day?
Awfully kind of you to come all the way here to give me this.
The act of returning a gift for a gift is a beautiful thing among mortalkind.
Actually, I was just thinking about making some tea.
...
...
What're you doing? Would be great if you could get the tea brewing soon.
Without a choice, (Captain) rummages through the cupboard, but finds nothing that would be of use for tea.
Tea utensils? I wouldn't have a clue. The temple staff always makes it for me.
All right, fine. I'll look for them with you.

Oh? (Captain), happy holidays. I didn't expect to see you among the crowd.
Ah, so you're here to see Vikala's Eccentrical Parade at the Rat Temple, just like myself.
Yes, I'm on my own. On the other hand, you've got quite the entourage.
You're inviting me to watch with you? Thank you for the invite, but I'll have to decline. I'm watching from the front row, you see.
No, I won't be using my power of flight. The parade is designed for watching from the ground, after all.
It would be rather insensitive to watch from the sky. I'd like to be the ideal audience for Vikala and her management.
You understand what I mean, don't you? Being the only one to have a pleasant time isn't always good.
And I'd like nothing more than for the Divine Generals to shine at their best.
Oops, that's too much talking. I'll be off to the front row then.

Keeper of Medicine

(Captain) and company are resting on the deck of the Grandcypher when Lyria brings over a box that reads "Skydome Temple sweet bean jelly." After devouring the snack, the crew are surprised by Bhaisa's sudden appearance on their ship. Bhaisa tells them that the sweet bean jelly was an advance payment for her request: to gather gemstones with her at a particular island.

After completing a few small requests, (Captain) and company are back on their ship, sailing quietly across the sky.
They stand outside on the deck, enjoying the precious free time that they have.
Vyrn: Whew, finally! Some time to catch our breaths.
Vyrn: We haven't got any requests lined up for the next while, so we should rest and recharge while we can...
Vyrn: Hm? What's that?
(Captain) turns to see Lyria cheerfully climbing up the stairs to the deck, holding a wooden box in her arms.
Lyria: Huff, huff...
Vyrn! (Captain)!
Lyria: I was looking in the galley for something sweet to eat. That's when I found this box that was delivered to us...
Vyrn: That's a fancy-lookin' box. Where's it from?
Lyria: Let's see, it says here... "Skydome Temple sweet bean jelly."
Vyrn: The Skydome Temple? Does that mean...
Lyria: Oh, there's a message inside. It reads...
"Have some during your break. No need to hold back. - Bhaisa"
Vyrn: I thought so. What crazy timing, huh?
Lyria: On the underside of the lid, it says: "Fine treats made from meticulous kneading—a tradition that was cultivated through an extensive history."
Vyrn: Gulp... Okay, now I'm curious...
Vyrn: Speakin' of which, I still don't really get Bhaisa.
Vyrn: I know she's the Keeper of Medicine and one of the Thirteen Buddhas... but I have no idea if she's scary or nice. Her personality's a total enigma.
Lyria: Yeah... She's a pretty mysterious person, isn't she?
Lyria: She's kind when you talk to her, but somehow I also get that feeling that she can read my mind... Ehehe.
Vyrn: Exactly. It's like she knows everything that's goin' on with us and in our heads...
Lyria: Hmm. I wonder if she really does have some sort of power...
Still in thought, Lyria opens the box to see rows of sweet bean jelly wrapped in exquisite packaging.
Vyrn: Ooh, looks delicious!
Lyria: Wow, it does!
Let's give them a try, (Captain)!
Vyrn: Mmm! It's crazy good!
Lyria: This is amazing! Bhaisa has impeccable taste!
Lyria: I've heard that desserts made from red bean are actually good for the body! Less to worry about healthwise!
???: Hehe.
???: I simply wanted to give you a taste of what I enjoy myself.
When the crew turn toward the voice, they see Bhaisa standing on the deck next to them.
Vyrn: Whoa! Where'd you come from?
Lyria: Bhaisa! How long have you been there for?
Bhaisa: What do you mean? I've been here with you all this time.
Bhaisa: Do you like the sweet bean jelly?
Vyrn: U-um, yeah... It's great! Thanks for that!
Bhaisa: Oh, it's nothing...
Vyrn: But don't just get on the ship without tellin' us, okay?
Bhaisa: Don't worry too much about it. I'm not bothered one bit.
Vyrn: But we're bothered by it!
With the power of flight, Bhaisa is able to board the Grandcypher at will—as she seems to have done a few times already.
Lyria: What brings you here today, Bhaisa?
Bhaisa: Actually, I'm on vacation right now. I'm thinking of allotting some time for my hobbies, you see.
Vyrn: Hobbies?
Bhaisa: The Grandcypher works perfectly for me. With so many brawny members in your crew, I'm sure digging holes would be a simple task for them.
Lyria: Digging... holes?
Bhaisa: I'll get to the point. I'd like you to help me find a certain gem.
Vyrn: Huh? What kind of gem?
Bhaisa: My hobby's collecting gemstones. I gather various different gems and like to admire them.
Bhaisa: There's a gem I want on a particular island, and I'll need help digging it up.
Vyrn: Oh, so this is a request.
Lyria: Come to think of it, you use a gemstone for your attacks, don't you?
The Nexus Labyrinth Dharma—a dimension that catches those who stray from the Astral Realm.
(Captain) and company once set foot into this dimension together with the Divine Generals as part of a request.
That was when the crew first witnessed the intense strength of Bhaisa's attacks.
Bhaisa: I project the gem by waking the light stored within and channeling power into it.
Bhaisa: But my request this time is purely for personal interest. I am on vacation, after all.
Bhaisa: Will you accept my request?
  1. Sure.
  2. Nah.

Choose: Sure.
Bhaisa: I thought you would agree to this, (Captain).
Vyrn: Wha... Are you sure, (Captain)?
Bhaisa: You've already received the advance payment, in any case.

Choose: Nah.
Lyria: Huh! We're not going to help?
Bhaisa: I must've misheard...
Bhaisa: Seeing as you've already accepted the advance payment.
Continue 1
Vyrn: Advance payment?
Bhaisa nudges the now empty box of sweet bean jelly.
Vyrn: What! That was it?
Bhaisa: As you can probably tell from its packaging, Skydome Temple's sweet bean jelly isn't cheap.
Only the wrapping paper, message card, and wooden box remain, its contents having long disappeared into the crew's stomachs.
Bhaisa: It's a deal, then.
Bhaisa: Now, if you'd kindly change course. Our destination shouldn't be too far from here.
Vyrn: Already makin' yourself at home, huh...
The crew are speechless as they stare at Bhaisa, who is nonchalantly settling into her new place of stay.
Left without a choice, (Captain) and company accept Bhaisa's request to look for a certain gemstone.

Mistress Medicine's Lapis Brilliance

The Grandcypher follows Bhaisa's instruction and arrives at an island where the east and the west are rumored to be fighting one another. However, it appears that the war has already stopped thanks to Bhaisa's prior interference. The leaders agree to give Bhaisa any gemstones found, in exchange for her and the crew's help in restoring the island.

The Grandcypher sails in the direction that Bhaisa instructs.
Even (Captain) and company are unsure of their destination.
Bhaisa: ...
Lyria: Um, Bhaisa... Could you at least tell us the name of the island we're heading to?
Bhaisa: Oh, that's right. We'll be arriving soon, so I should probably tell you.
The crew cannot believe their ears when they hear the name of the island.
Vyrn: Wait, I know that name! It's that place where east and west are split and fightin' each other, right?
Lyria: There's been a few rumors... saying that it could be dangerous.
Bhaisa: Well, that makes it easy to explain then. That's where the gem is hidden.
Due to a power struggle between the east and west factions, the island suffers from continuous warfare.
Despite the intermittent ceasefires, battles break out time and time again, making it difficult for outsiders to visit the island.
Vyrn: Are you serious...
Bhaisa: Look over there.
Lyria: Gasp!
From the Grandcypher, the ruins of an island can be seen below as white pillars of smoke billow out here and there.
Vyrn: What the heck... The island's practically in shambles!
Lyria: This is... terrible...
Vyrn: We heard about the war here, but it's crazy to see all those gaping holes in person, just gouged out from the ground...
Bhaisa: It might not be as bad as we think. The towns on either side are pretty intact and bustling with people.
Vyrn: So where're the gems you're lookin' for?
Bhaisa: Right in the middle of the battlefield.
Vyrn: Oh, come on! That's way too risky!
Bhaisa: My calculations should be accurate.
Vyrn: Are you listenin'? We shouldn't be comin' to a place like this for fun!
Bhaisa: Don't worry, I don't plan on getting all of you involved with this warfare. Besides, everything's pretty much settled already.
Vyrn: Wh-what do ya mean by that?
Bhaisa: You'll know when we get there.
East Leader: Hey, west side! You guys done over there?
West Leader: Just a bit more! You east-siders are gonna come help after, right?
Vyrn: Hm? They're wavin' different flags... but it looks like they're cleaning up together.
Lyria: They're all working in the same area... It doesn't seem like they're fighting.
(Captain) and company follow behind Bhaisa, who leads the way and steps onto the battlefield.
Vyrn: What's goin' on here? I thought they were fightin' each other.
East Leader: Hm? Who're these people? Sorry, we're not hiring any more mercenaries...
East Leader: Eek!
West Leader: W-wait a sec... That getup, and those eyes...
As the men begin to panic, Bhaisa takes a single step forward.
Bhaisa: Hello. You're looking rather pale, but it appears you're working hard. How's the reconstruction going?
Soldiers: L-Lady Bhaisaaa!
The men prostrate themselves in front of the Keeper of Medicine, trembling as they press their foreheads to the ground.
East Leader: We're not fighting anymore! Truly... We swear!
East Leader: So please, spare us... from the light!
West Leader: That light is too much for us humble folk! We were foolish to have participated in such conflict!
West Leader: We're doing our best in working towards peace and restoration, so please, forgive us!
Vyrn: Whoa, whoa! What is happening?
Lyria: Bhaisa... What are they talking about?
Bhaisa: They finally came to the understanding that ceasing warfare is the best plan. That's all.
Vyrn: So you've come here before?
Bhaisa: Just the other day, actually. To search for the gems. But because of the ongoing war, it was hard to take my time in looking...
Bhaisa: I had no choice but to give them ten years of my Lapis Brilliance...
East Leader: Yes... Just when we were about to start another battle, after countless ones already... Lady Bhaisa came down from the sky.
Bhaisa: Ten-Year Lapis Brilliance...
West Leader: Gwaaah!
East Leader: Mamaaa!
West Leader: The experience was terrifying... Hell, even. Tumultuous, disastrous... It felt like the world was about to end...
West Leader: Wh-when I think b-back to it... I can feel myself sh-shaking again...
East Leader: H-hey, it's gonna be okay! Calm down! It's over now...
East Leader: Even the sturdiest of our soldiers are still quivering in fear... I mean, look at what's become of the ground...
Vyrn: That was you?
East Leader: The fear and despair we felt from getting a taste of that crushing power made us stop the war.
West Leader: We learned what it was like to feel both powerless and foolish. I never want to experience that again...
Vyrn: Huh... So the war's already over.
Lyria: It's amazing how you managed to stop them from fighting, Bhaisa!
Bhaisa: Hehe, no need for such praise.
Vyrn: Uh, they're mostly talkin' about how scary it was...
East Leader: Thanks to Lady Bhaisa, the east and the west are now working together to restore this island back to how it used to be.
West Leader: We've noticed an influx of monsters we didn't see during the war... Because of that, our work hasn't been progressing as we'd like it to.
Bhaisa: You solve one thing, only for another thing to pop up. It's to be expected.
Bhaisa: And for that, I have an idea.
Bhaisa pauses to look over at (Captain) and company.
Bhaisa: Why don't we give you a hand with the restoration?
Bhaisa: While we look for gemstones, we can exterminate monsters and plow the ground to make a foundation for reconstruction.
Bhaisa: Gems, safety, soil—three birds with one stone. Triple the fun.
Vyrn: The difficulty level of this request just skyrocketed...
Bhaisa: The island's just starting to get back on its feet. It shouldn't be too hard for you to do a little something for it.
Bhaisa: Since I paid in advance and everything.
Vyrn: Erg... I can't believe you planned this far!
Lyria: B-but I think Bhaisa is right.
Lyria: The people here need assistance. We should help exterminate the monsters and protect them from harm.
Lyria: Don't you think, (Captain)?
  1. Let's see this mission through.
  2. Let's see where this takes us.

Choose: Let's see this mission through.
Vyrn: Sigh... When you make that face, we've no choice but to go.
Vyrn: All right, let's do this!

Choose: Let's see where this takes us.
Bhaisa: Yes, I like that attitude. I'd hate for any of you to push yourselves too hard or get hurt, so whatever you can manage is fine.
Bhaisa: Although, I'm quite confident you'll be able to tackle anything that comes your way.
Vyrn: Just don't expect too much from us...
Continue 1
East Leader: Really? You'll stay and help us?
West Leader: But I'm afraid we don't have the money or resources to compensate you for your work...
Bhaisa: I'm thinking you can share some of the black gemstones you find while working around the island.
East Leader: It's something that this land produces, so we don't mind at all, but...
Bhaisa: Thank you. That'll be enough as a reward.
West Leader: Are you sure? If you want the gems so much, keep as much as you want!
Bhaisa: Hear that, everyone? Look for the gems, exterminate the monsters, and prepare the ground for reconstruction. Stay on your feet and work efficiently.
Vyrn: At least let us do one thing at a time!
And with that, (Captain) and company begin assisting Bhaisa with her gem-searching...
All the while dismantling the rubble and tidying up the island for its restoration.

Mistress Medicine's Lapis Brilliance: Scene 2

(Captain) and company are digging at locations specified by Bhaisa when they find something black and glittering. Together with the island's soldiers, the crew try to excavate the gem as they continue exterminating any monsters they come across. Suddenly, the ground begins to shake and a monster rises from a large fissure, with other hordes of monster appearing to attack the crew.

(Captain)'s crew and the soldiers confirm with one another about their respective tasks.
Bhaisa: Here's the plan. I'll look into different areas and determine whether they're suitable or not.
Bhaisa: All of you will be in charge of the excavating, and the immediate extermination of any monsters that appear.
Lyria: W-we'll do our best! Let's work together, everyone!
East Leader: We can definitely provide some manpower. There're some strong young 'uns among us who'll be a great help.
West Leader: Leave the rock-splitting to me. I've still got some old mining tricks up my sleeve.
Bhaisa: In that case, if you could go with (Captain)'s crew to the slope in the north and start from there.
Lyria: Hah! Hrah!
Lyria: Oh, I see something sparkly!
Vyrn: Ooh, anything good?
Brushing off the dirt and sand, they see a part of a dark, translucent rock.
Vyrn: Whoooa! It really does look different from your regular black rock.
Lyria: It's so big! And we're only seeing a part of it too. We probably need both arms to hold it...
Bhaisa descends from the sky to check in on (Captain) and company.
Bhaisa: Yes, that's the gemstone I'm looking for. It appears my hunch was right.
Bhaisa: I'd like to keep it in one piece, so handle it with care when you dig it out.
The soldiers gather to excavate their new finding.
East Leader: Now that I think about it... what did we even compete with each other for?
West Leader: Hm... Beats me. All I could think about during battle was who's gonna come out on top.
East Leader: It's really thanks to Bhaisa that we're cooperating so well, working together to dig this out.
West Leader: Haha, you're right about that.
Lyria: Hehe... It feels nice here.
Vyrn: We kept hearin' about how scary this place was, but looks like it's gonna be okay after all.
East Leader: After witnessing Lady Bhaisa's incomprehensible power, we finally realized what we were doing.
West Leader: It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for sure. Never had I felt such fear in my life... but now, I have nothing but appreciation.
Bhaisa: I see.
East Leader: Both the east and the west are grateful for your intervention. Thank—
The next moment, a sharp roar rises up from the depths of the earth.
Vyrn: Hm? Did you hear that?
Vyrn: Oh, a monster came out.
Lyria: Oh no! There's more!
Vyrn: N-not just more... A whole lot more!
East Leader: Ack, we're surrounded!
West Leader: So many of 'em at once... We're outnumbered!
Monsters: Graaah!

Mistress Medicine's Lapis Brilliance: Scene 3

Bhaisa floats up into the sky and unleashes her Hundred-Year Lapis Brilliance, annihilating the monsters. (Captain) uses this chance to take down the large monster, crushing it together with the gem in its chest. After finding an even bigger ore deposit, Bhaisa takes some of the gems with her before abruptly parting ways with the crew.

(Captain): ...!
Vyrn: That's the spirit!
West Leader: Stay in formation! Don't falter!
Monster: Graaah!
East Leader: Look out!
Monster: Gragh!
East Leader: You all right, west side?
West Leader: Y-yeah... Thanks, east side!
East Leader: It's gonna be all right. We can win this! We have Lady Bhaisa with us!
West Leader: That's right! Lady Bhaisa, show 'em what you've got!
But when the men turn to look at Bhaisa, they see her floating higher and higher up into the sky.
West Leader: L-Lady Bhaisa? Where are you going?
Vyrn: Hey! Where do ya think you're off to!
Bhaisa: ...
The Keeper of Medicine does not even turn at Vyrn's question.
Lyria: Vyrn, watch out!
Monster: Graaah!
Vyrn: Gah!
(Captain): ...!
Vyrn: S-saved me there... Got distracted for a second.
Vyrn: Geez, I can't believe she just flew away like it's not her business!
Vyrn: Now I'm gettin' mad! I'm gonna go talk some sense into her!
East Leader: W-wait...
Lyria: Huh?
West Leader: Oh no... It's coming... She's gonna do it again...
East Leader: It's too late... We can't run from it. But... we have to. Where do we hide though? I don't want to go through that again!
Vyrn: What exactly is "that"?
From high in the sky, Bhaisa looks down at the chaotic scene unfolding below her.
Just then, the gigantic lapis beside her begins to glow.
Bhaisa begins to chant.
Bhaisa: Hundred-Year Lapis Brilliance...
East Leader: Aaaah!
West Leader: Mamaaa!
A relentless light is unleashed, raining down on everything below...
Or so the soldiers believe—but in reality, the light only pierces through the monsters around them.
The soldiers are too busy to realize, trapped within their fearful memories of having been the target of this light a while ago. They scatter, screaming—but with no place to hide.
Vyrn: It's the same attack we saw in Dharma!
Lyria: Oh my gosh! So much power!
Vyrn: It's impressive how her attack pretty much wiped out the monsters in one go!
Lyria: No, there's more! I can feel a strong power still hiding under the ground...
The ground begins to tremble ever so slightly. Suddenly, a large skeleton comes out from one of the fissures.
Vyrn: Wha! What in the skies is that?
Vyrn: Th-that guy's huge! It's a lot bigger than those other monsters just now!
But (Captain) doesn't flinch. Burning with determination, the captain steps forward to face the monster.
(Captain): ...!
Lyria: I'll help, (Captain)!
Please, Colossus!
Bhaisa: Oh.
Bhaisa: Hang on—
But Bhaisa's murmur from high above fails to reach the others. (Captain) and company bravely approach the monster.
Lyria: (Huh? I'm sensing something inside...)
Vyrn: All right, we got it!
Monster: Groooar!
Vyrn: Woohoo!
Bhaisa: Sigh...
Vyrn: Wha! You mean that black gemstone we found was the monster we just fought?
Lyria: I did see something sparkle around the monster's chest, so... it must've been.
Vyrn: Ack... So it was the stone in its chest? Had no idea when we were diggin' it up...
Vyrn: And now, the monster's...
The monster, together with the gemstone in its chest, had been completely broken apart by (Captain) and company.
Bhaisa: Just awful...
Vyrn: Er... Our bad for smashin' the rock. You coulda warned us beforehand...
Lyria: We're really sorry...
Bhaisa: I'm kidding.
Vyrn: Huh?
Bhaisa: The shattered pieces here are only a part of it. I found out just a moment ago that there should be an even bigger ore deposit.
Lyria: An even bigger one?
Bhaisa takes them to a slope a short ways away.
Bhaisa: There's two... or maybe three.
Getting into her usual stance, she chants once more.
Bhaisa: Three-Year Lapis Brilliance.
Three years' worth of light shoots straight into the slope, leaving a large hole. Sure enough, something black and glittering can be seen within.
East Leader: It's... an ore deposit! I've never seen such a big one!
Bhaisa: This should be enough to help with the island's restoration.
West Leader: Wait, restoration? I thought you wanted the gem for yourself...
Bhaisa: If you share a small, high-quality part of the stone with me, you can do what you like with the rest.
West Leader: I can't believe it...
East Leader: How can we ever thank you?
Bhaisa: No need. This is compensation for what damage I've caused.
Bhaisa: And perhaps the lodging fee for my next visit. I haven't made the exact calculations yet, but there should be other ore deposits still.
West Leader: Hah... Haha... You're joking, right?
Islanders: (Please, don't ever come back!)
As (Captain) and company set sail once more, they look down at the island below.
Vyrn: Is it me, or is the ground lookin' even more rugged than before?
Lyria: I-I'm sure everything will be fixed eventually!
Bhaisa: I'll let all of you know when I need help again. Maybe I'll come back on my next vacation.
Vyrn: You're leaving already?
Bhaisa: You want me to stay?
Vyrn: What I'm tryin' to say is, maybe we should talk about how this whole thing went and what we coulda done better...
Bhaisa: Everything went smoothly—that's my conclusion. Nothing would have made this better.
Vyrn: Really? Is that what you really think, from the deepest, darkest corner of your heart?
Bhaisa: Of course. If I'd made any miscalculations, the only thing would be...
Bhaisa: That you were a lot quicker on your feet than I expected, (Captain).
Bhaisa: I didn't think you'd defeat that monster so fast. I lost out on some of the gemstone thanks to that.
Lyria: Do you mean the monster with the gemstone on its chest?
Bhaisa: Yes. It appears I underestimated you—I suppose I could've done better in that aspect.
Vyrn: You're not gonna tell us to give you somethin' to compensate, are ya?
Bhaisa: Hehe, you guessed it. But I'm satisfied for today, so I'll save my next requests for another time.
Bhaisa: I'll see you soon then.
With an aloof smile, Bhaisa leaves the Grandcypher behind, her hair fluttering in the wind.
Vyrn: Good grief... We're in for another wild ride next time.
Lyria: I'm sure we are! But it's a good thing that peace has been restored to that island!
Vyrn: I guess you're right...
Slowly, lights from the island flicker on one by one, shimmering in the distance.
