Happy Birthday Cutscenes

1

Happy birthday.
Today's an important day. You're another year older! One step closer to adulthood.
As an all-knowing witch, allow me to give you my prediction of your future.
You'll continue to live happily... I'll be right there by your side, after all.
Hmm? How old will I be this year?
Heeheehee... A witch never reveals her true age. Ask me again, and I'll be very angry.

2

Happy birthday. Here we are again on this special day.
Do you remember my prediction from last year? That if you stay by my side, you'll be blessed with good fortune?
Well, I was right, wasn't I? Hehehe. My prediction for this year is more of the same. I'm looking forward to it.

3

Happy birthday, (Captain). Can you believe it's already been a whole year?
I just hope that my prediction from last year came true for you.
But to be perfectly honest, I think I was the one who was happy to be by your side.
Hee-hee. You've really spoiled this all-knowing witch, haven't you? I can't even imagine leaving you anymore.
It really is a miracle I was able to meet you in this life.
I may be silly and incompetent at times, but I look forward to staying in your care, (Captain).

4

Happy birthday! So? Did you have a good year?
It's been wonderful for me, standing by your side.
As long as we're together, I'm sure next year will be just as fulfilling.
I hope it will be for you too...
But make sure you tell me if something's troubling you, okay?
Don't forget, I'm quite the talented witch... With my magic, I can easily obliterate any obstacle blocking your path.

5

Happy birthday. This year went by so fast.
I'm sure it felt like a flash because you were here beside me the whole time.
You always go beyond my expectations... That's why there's never a boring moment with you.
And I'm sure that, someday, you really will attain your dream of finding Estalucia.
I know that if I stick with you, then you'll take me to see all sorts of places and experience a lot of different things.
Just thinking about that makes my heart pound with excitement... Hehe, you've most certainly captured me.
I hope you'll always stay by my side, (Captain). And I'll always be by yours—I promise.

1

Interested in getting your fortune told after we ring in the new year?
Something of a step down for someone like me who knows the future...
But placing your future in the hands of a fortune could prove interesting, don't you think?

2

Happy New Year, (Captain).
I don't have any interest in praying for good health or good fortune when a new year rolls around.
But I completely understand why people would do so.
What do I pray for then? Hehe, why, to continue being by your side of course.

3

Look, the sun's coming up.
Hehe... Such a beautiful sunrise. Perhaps it's because I'm watching it with you?
I hope a magical year awaits us, but I have no doubt it will be wonderful as long as I'm with you.
Hehe... I hope you feel the same way.

4

Happy New Year, (Captain). Here's to another year on our journey.
Have you thought about your resolution yet?
How about me? Well...
I believe that fate is determined, so I've never made a resolution before.
But I get the feeling that making a goal in this moment would be worth it.
Oh, I don't mean something silly like working on myself. I was just thinking that I could vow to stay with you, like we are now.
And with that vow comes a promise that I'll always protect you with my magic.

5

Hello, (Captain). How would you like to go draw our New Year's fortunes?
Why, yes, there's not much meaning to drawing my own fortune when I can see the future.
But just for fun I'd like to have you do it.
You'll surely pull a good result, especially in regards to your romantic prospects. Yes something like...
Your fated one is waiting for you. In fact, they are already right beside you.
Right in front of your very eyes.
Hehe, I'm only jesting.

Valentine's Day Cutscenes

1

Valentine's is such a bother. Every year, I'm pestered by girls who want me to say a few magic words and bring love into their lives.
Huh? Does it work? Heheh... Are you asking for a test run, (Captain)?

2

Making this chocolate was quite the toil and trouble. Won't you have a bite?
Hehe... Don't worry. Even though I know all about love magic and aphrodisiacs...
Pure, innocent me would never use them on you. But in my imagination, anything goes...

3

Happy Valentine's Day, (Captain).
I made these chocolates just for you... Will you take them?
They were made with my love especially for today—no magic, of course. Be sure to savor the flavor.
Hehe... It's all kind of silly, don't you think?
But you know, (Captain)... Ever since meeting you, I've been able to enjoy so many things I never enjoyed before.
Thank you... for everything.

4

Here, (Captain). These are Valentine's Day chocolates.
Do you like them? I'm confident they taste great. I hope they make you happy.
Hehe. Good. Thank you.
It's strange, isn't it? To feel both so nervous and happy when you see the reaction of a loved one as they bite into your confections.
You think I feel this way because I didn't use magic to secure the flavor? Or that I didn't look into the future to see your reaction?
Could be. Or it could be that you're just a very important person to me.

5

(Captain), these chocolates are for you.
Hehe, you really don't hide your emotions, do you?
Even without my powers, I could have forseen the smile on your face right now.
It's no wonder I feel compelled to give you something every year.
Yes, it's quite strange... Perhaps I've been put under a spell.
A spell of love, you could even call it.

1

Oh? This is for me? I see... Thank you. This makes me quite happy.
Heheheh... I've gotten so many presents before, but for some reason this one makes me happiest of all.

2

Ooh, are you giving this to me for White Day?
I'll be honest. I was kind of waiting for you. I'm glad it wasn't in vain.
Now that I think about it, are you saying I can have your heart? Once I take it, it can't be returned, you know.
Hahaha... That look on your face is priceless. I'm just joking. For now...

3

Is this for me? Thank you, (Captain).
Now you've done it... I don't think there's anything in the skies that could show you how happy you've made me.
The more time I spend with you, (Captain), the more I relish our time together... Puzzling, is it not?
Hehe... I look forward to spending even more time with you, (Captain).

4

Hehe. You're giving me a White Day present again this year, aren't you?
I'm glad. Thank you.
Hmm? You're relieved I'm happy?
Really? Now how would you understand what I'm feeling in the very depths of my heart?
Hehe. Oh, don't make that face. I was just joking.
You were so cute handing me this gift that I just had to tease you.
To think that I would be anything but grateful for receiving a gift from you... Silly Captain.

5

Oh, my... Is that perhaps a White Day gift that I see in your hands?
Hehe, thank you. I'm pleased to accept it.
I was quite looking forward to this day.
They do say the stronger your feelings are for someone, the more your anticipation grows.
Say, (Captain). Is it all right if I come to expect more and more things from you?
Things like... Well, perhaps I shouldn't verbalize these thoughts.
Not until my feelings are realized, at least. Maybe then I'll reveal everything to you.

1

Hello there. Did you know Halloween is a festival where the dead return?
It's only on this day when the living and the dead can have fun together. See? Look at that one, right next to you...

2

On Halloween there are little witches all over.
It's so cute how they all smell like candy. Aren't you going to dress up today?
Oh, me? I'll just be watching everyone else have fun.
Heh heh heh... I wouldn't want to scare the little kids.

3

(Captain), do you have a costume ready? Since today is Halloween, after all.
I was imagining how lovely you would look in a wizard costume... Perhaps we could go out tonight as an ensemble together.
People would see the couple of us as two of a kind—doesn't that sound simply magical?

4

Since it's Halloween, you think I should dress up as something besides a witch?
Easy for you to say... I really am a genuine witch. I can't become anything else!
But... you have a point.
I guess if you're really set on it, I could change into another outfit.
So what is it you'd like me to wear?
Say the word, (Captain). Your wish is my command.

5

Hey, (Captain). Do you wanna try playing a trick on me?
To be honest, I enjoy playing tricks more, but sometimes it's nice to see how it feels to be on the receiving end too.
I don't want some shabby trick though.
I'd like something more affectionate that's both pleasant and bold.
Hehe... I guess that's pretty hard, huh?
I'm sorry, I was just playing with you. I wanted to see you get all flustered like you are now.
You're so cute that I can't help but want to see all the different sides of you... So don't get mad, okay?

Happy Holidays Cutscenes

1

Tonight's a very special night... I don't mind celebrating with the rest of the crew...
But doesn't going to a quiet place for two sound so much more romantic?

2

The holiday's upon us, (Captain).
Wouldn't it be nice to enjoy this romantic night between the two of us?
My, my, what are you getting all flustered for? You're bound to me by fate after all...

3

There's nothing more romantic than snow on a winter's night.
Hehe. That isn't my magic, I promise... I've learned that sometimes truly magical things can't be forced.
On precious nights like these, how and who you spend it with is important.
Being able to spend time like this with a special someone such as yourself just makes it even more precious.
Now then, just how shall we spend it together... What are you in the mood for?

4

Even though we're having such a lovely party, would you like to sneak out with me?
Hehe. Just kidding.
If I'd asked you to spend this entire festive night with me, I bet you would have.
Let's stare at the night sky together just a little longer and then head back inside.
That sounds good enough to you?
For now, yes. But I'm sure we'll be able to share many more nights like this.
And that's not just a prediction—we'll definitely see them together.

5

I must say, I feel some affinity for our dear Santa Claus.
With his red hat and clothes, wouldn't you say we share the same image? Hehe.
Hey, (Captain). Indulge me for a moment. If I were Santa Claus, what kind of gift would you ask for?
You're quite the kind person, so I assume you would ask for something like happiness and peace across the skies.
However, just for tonight, I'd be delighted if you focused your attention on me and only me.
Just kidding. Were you surprised by such a selfish request? Hehe...

A Skilled Swimmer?

Magisa, (Captain), and the others arrive in the Auguste Isles for a vacation. Confident in her swimming skills, Magisa insists she and (Captain) go for a boat ride to take a dip in the ocean. However, the moment she enters the water, Magisa's body weakens. Suframare comes to the rescue, but Magisa is unconscious. Suframare then asks if (Captain) can perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

As the sweltering summer heat fast approaches, the Grandcypher sails on. On one such day...
Magisa: Hello there, (Captain). It certainly has gotten hot recently...
Magisa: Do you happen to have any plans for the summer? A vacation in the Auguste Isles, perhaps?
Magisa: An eating competition? I never knew Auguste had such an interesting event.
Magisa: ...
Magisa: (Captain), do you understand why my gaze is so intense right now?
  1. You want to join the eating competition?

Choose: You want to join the eating competition?
Magisa: Bzzt. I'm afraid that's wrong. I could never eat so much in one sitting.
Magisa: Don't be such a tease. Surely you understand what it is I want.
Magisa: Are you really not going to invite widdle ol' me along?
  1. Don't you hate exercise though?
  2. You always stay inside during summer.

Choose: Don't you hate exercise though?
Magisa: Indeed I do. Especially in midsummer. The mere thought of exerting myself in the heat makes me feel faint.

Choose: You always stay inside during summer.
Magisa: Well, I do despise the heat. I usually spend my days reading in my room, cooled with ice magic.
Continue 1
Magisa: However, swimming is an entirely separate matter. I'll have you know that I'm quite skilled.
Magisa: Back in my hometown, I would go to the local swimming spot every year. Doesn't a bit of cool water feel lovely when the weather is hot?
Magisa: And... if you were the one to invite me to Auguste, I would never turn you down.
Magisa: I've been waiting all this time, you know... I even bought a new swimsuit.
Magisa: In any case, now you have no reason not to invite me, correct? You'll let me tag along... right?
(Captain) gives an enthusiastic nod.
Magisa: Now that's more like it. I'm so excited to go on our first trip to the Auguste Isles together.
Magisa: My heart's already racing. Hehe... I can't wait.
After Magisa's attendance is decided, the day of departure arrives in the blink of an eye.
Lyria: Wow... Magisa, you look so beautiful! And cool!
Magisa: Thank you, Lyria. Your swimsuit is adorable too.
Magisa: What do you think, (Captain)?
  1. You're breathtaking...

Choose: You're breathtaking...
Magisa: Hehe... You're making me blush. Feel free to take it all in. I bought this swimsuit especially for you.
Vyrn: H-hey, does anyone else feel like all eyes are on us?
Magisa: This swimsuit was meant for (Captain)'s eyes only, but... oh well.
Magisa: What say we take a boat and head out to sea? That should give us some alone time.
Vyrn: Haha... You never change, Magisa...
Magisa: Hehe, the two of us spending time together is my entire reason for coming along. So could I borrow (Captain) for a bit?
Lyria: Of course!
Lyria: Don't go too far out, though. The ocean can be a scary place...
Magisa: Fear not, Lyria. I will protect our adorable (Captain).
(Captain) and Magisa head out on the water after borrowing a boat.
Magisa: Thank you for rowing the boat, (Captain).
Magisa: That was quite the show of strength back there. You really know how to make a girl's heart race.
Magisa: Come now, there's no need to be so modest. I could never do something like that.
Magisa: It certainly is hot though. I've been sweating for a while now.
Magisa: Shall we take a quick dip in the ocean to cool our burning bodies?
(Captain) looks down at the cool water and nods eagerly.
Magisa: Hehe, all right. Here I go...
With that, Magisa leaps into the ocean. Not to be outdone, (Captain) follows quickly behind her.
Magisa: The Auguste sea feels so much better than I ever imagined...
Magisa: Swimming is certainly enjoyable, but just floating here with you is—
Magisa: ...!
Just as a scream begins to escape Magisa's throat, she plunges down into the depths.
Though initially shocked, (Captain) quickly recovers and reaches out to help her.
Magisa: My apologies. I'm feeling a bit sluggish. Don't worry, I can handle myself just fi—
Magisa attempts to tread water as she reassures (Captain), but...
Magisa: (My body! It won't... move!)
After another frantic effort to stay afloat, Magisa begins to sink once more.
(Captain) attempts to help her, but her body feels as heavy as a sandbag, dragging them both down.
Realizing something is amiss, the captain calls to the others on shore for help.
Vyrn: What is (Captain) shouting about over there?
Lyria: Oh no! It looks like Magisa is drowning!
Vyrn: What! I thought she said she was a good swimmer!
Lyria: We need to hurry and call for help!
Vyrn: We don't have time for that! H-hold on!
As (Captain) continues to hold Magisa up, her body begins to grow even heavier...
Magisa: I-I'm sorry, (Captain)... You can't save me alone...
Magisa: I can't even... use magic!
Magisa: Please... let me go! I can't let you die here...
Magisa pulls away from (Captain)'s grasp...
  1. Magisa!

Choose: Magisa!
Taking a deep breath, the captain plunges after her. Just then...
???: Freeze!
The ocean waters begin to freeze, as if time jumped forward to the middle of winter.
As the ice reaches (Captain) and Magisa, it becomes a foothold, raising them out of the water.
Magisa: ...
(Captain) rushes over to Magisa, but no amount of stirring wakes her.
The sound of footsteps echoes through the ice.
Suframare: Are you all right, (Captain)? I heard Vyrn screaming, so I came as fast as I coul—
Suframare: Magisa! This is bad... She's inhaled a lot of water!
Suframare: (Captain), we need to act quickly!
Suframare: Have you ever performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation?
(Captain) sits there, stunned by the question.
All the captain can do is stare at Magisa's waiting lips.

A Witch's Past

Just as (Captain) draws closer to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, Magisa awakens. After returning to the beach, Magisa struggles to come up with a reason why she suddenly couldn't swim. After hearing Suframare's theory, Vyrn asks if Morax could be the cause, since he has strong fire and earth magic. When Suframare doesn't recognize that name, Magisa summons him to show her.

After Magisa started to drown in the ocean, Suframare was able to stop her from sinking into the watery depths.
However, with Magisa yet to regain consciousness, Suframare asks if (Captain) has ever performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
The captain's head shakes sadly back and forth in response.
Suframare: I thought as much... I am also not sure I have the lung capacity to perform such a task.
To make up for a lack of experience, (Captain) had taken first aid classes in case of this exact scenario.
However, an isolated classroom vastly differs from a hands-on experience, and the captain is overwhelmed by self-doubt.
But the situation requires action, so (Captain) draws closer to Magisa, recalling all that time spent training...
Magisa: Cough... D-don't worry... I'm fine... Cough!
Suframare: Magisa!
As Magisa regains consciousness, (Captain) and Suframare help her up.
Magisa: Huff... Huff... I apologize for making you worry...
Magisa: I couldn't even use my magic... You two really saved me.
Suframare: No matter how good at magic you are, I imagine it's hard to perform when you suddenly find yourself drowning.
Suframare: Sigh... I'm just glad you're all right.
Suframare: We should head back to shore. I'm sure Vyrn and Lyria are worried sick!
Leaning on (Captain)'s shoulder, Magisa and the others make their way across the icy path Suframare created.
Magisa: You looked so cool back there, (Captain)...
Magisa: Perhaps I should have let you perform mouth-to-mouth.
The captain gives a wry smile in reply, relieved to know that Magisa is healthy enough to make jokes.
(Captain), Magisa, and Suframare finally meet up with Lyria and Vyrn.
Lyria: Magisa, thank goodness you're okay!
Magisa: My apologies for causing you two to worry. Thanks to (Captain) and Suframare, I'm doing just fine.
Vyrn: You really had us on edge, y'know... I thought you were good at swimming. Were you attacked by a monster or something?
Magisa: I don't think it was a monster, but... to be honest, I'm not quite sure what happened.
Magisa: Did you notice anything off, (Captain)?
(Captain) relays the events surrounding the incident in as much detail as possible.
Vyrn: Well, something's fishy about this for sure... But what?
Suframare: Before we start our search for answers, I suggest we let (Captain) and Magisa take a break.
Suframare: Your condition could still worsen, so I believe rest would be best!
Magisa: I have to agree with Suframare. Although I must apologize for interrupting everyone's vacation...
Reassuring a disheartened Magisa, the group heads to the beach house.
Magisa: Ah... That hit the spot. I was more exhausted than I realized.
Lyria: It doesn't look like there's anything wrong with you physically. Thank goodness.
Vyrn: But that just makes what happened back there all the more strange...
Suframare: I've been trying to come up with an answer for a while now, but...
Suframare: Magisa, are you by any chance not as proficient in water magic?
Magisa: I am skilled in all forms of magic. I wouldn't say water magic is a specialty of mine, but it's certainly not a weakness either.
Suframare: I see... It seems I was mistaken. Hm... Then why...
Vyrn: Something on your mind, Teach?
Suframare: When I first met Magisa, I could feel strong fire and earth magic within her.
Suframare: Auguste is covered by a sea though. Naturally, the power of water is stronger here.
Suframare: Fire and earth are in direct opposition to water, are they not? The stronger those elements are, the greater their influence.
Suframare: It could be that an adverse reaction between fire, earth, and water magic occurred when you entered the ocean.
Suframare: At least, that's my theory!
Magisa: I have heard of such things happening... But I've never had any issues handling water before.
To prove her skills, Magisa uses magic to refill her once-empty glass.
Magisa: Besides, even if my body felt sluggish, I still should have been able to swim, correct?
Suframare: Hmm, I must be overthinking it...
Suframare: Then did someone place a really, really strong curse on you that has to do with water?
Suframare: Perhaps you were cursed to be unable to swim!
Magisa: I don't think so...
Vyrn: Ah, wait! If we're talking about fire and earth, what about Morax? He can make meteorites fall from the sky, can't he?
Lyria: Oh yeah! That's definitely related to fire and earth magic!
Suframare: S-slow down, you two... Who is Morax?
Magisa: I suppose you'll have to see him to believe it. Come on out, Moe.
With those words, a blast of heat engulfs the area.
Morax: ...
Suframare: E-eek!
Suframare gives out a surprised shriek as Morax appears in all his glory.

A Witch's Past: Scene 2

Suframare marvels at Morax, who appears to be neither familiar, monster, nor magic given form. After some prodding, Magisa tells the tale of how she met Morax. Talented even as a child, a young Magisa began to be ostracized by those around her. Tired of being alone, Magisa makes a few adjustments to a summoning spell, and when she casts it, Morax appears. After forming a contract with him, Magisa commands him to assist her from then on.

Suframare examines Morax from various angles in awe.
Suframare: Is this a familiar? No, he has too much magic for that... It's not a monster either...
Suframare: It's like magic given form... But he seems to possess intelligence!
Suframare: Is this some type of magic? I've never seen anything like it before...
Suframare: But one thing is for certain—the strong earth and fire magic I felt from you comes from your pet, Magisa!
Suframare: Please tell me more about him!
Magisa: A pet, huh? Isn't that nice, Moe? Looks like someone sees past your rough exterior.
Vyrn: You know, Morax has been with Magisa since before we met, so I never gave it much thought, but...
Vyrn: Teach is right... Morax is a bit weird. He's not a primal beast, so what is he?
Magisa: I can't think of any word that describes him perfectly myself, but I suppose "familiar" would suit him the best.
Magisa: I must have been around (Captain)'s age when I summoned and formed a contract with him. He's been with me ever since.
Suframare: Umm... Could you tell me more? I'm so curious! Ah, only if you don't mind, of course...
Lyria: Morax has helped us out a whole bunch, so I'd also love to know more about him!
Magisa: I don't think it's that interesting of a story, but you all did save my life, so this is the least I can do to repay you.
Magisa: It is a long story though, so why don't we all order a refill first?
Once their drinks arrive, Magisa's soothing voice begins to weave her tale.
Magisa: My hometown is filled with mages of all kinds. I grew up in a world where magic was easily accessible, even at an early age.
Magisa: Yet even in such an environment, I was called a prodigy.
Child Magisa: Burn!
Local Child: That was so cool, Magisa! Not even my papa can shoot flames that big!
Child Magisa: Heh, of course not. But flames like that are easy-peasy for me!
Local Mage: Hahaha, you certainly are something else... Ah, that reminds me, you were right!
Child Magisa: I was? About what?
Local Mage: About my cupboard! Thanks to your vision, I was able to avoid breaking any plates.
Child Magisa: Oh, that! Glad I could help!
Local Child: Seeing into the future sounds so cool! I wish I could try...
Local Mage: It's hard to get the hang of. I've never been able to do it myself.
Local Mage: Yet you've made multiple accurate predictions, Magisa. It's hard to believe you're just a child.
Magisa: All the adults would praise my talent, which made me happy.
Magisa: However... that praise did not last.
Local Mage: Hmm, how peculiar... I can't seem to cast this spell. I'm doing exactly as the book instructs.
Local Mage: Looks like this book is worthless. I'll have to tell the librarian and have them dispose of—
Child Magisa: You're the one who's worthless. Don't blame the book when you're reading it wrong.
Local Mage: What are you talking about? Of course I read it—
Child Magisa: That book has a spell on it that needs to be released beforehand. Otherwise the real spells don't show up.
Child Magisa: If you try to use that book without breaking the spell, you'll just end up spouting off nonsense.
Local Mage: I-I see... I didn't even notice. This spellbook must contain some very powerful spells.
Child Magisa: If you don't know how to break the spell, I can teach you! Let me see that book!
Local Mage: O-okay... Thanks.
Magisa: Looking back, I was definitely not the most charming child around.
Frightened Mage: Huff, puff... I can't believe the monsters are attacking this place!
Child Magisa: Begone!
Monster: ...!
Frightened Mage: M-Magisa! What are you doing here?
Child Magisa: I saw this in a vision.
Frightened Mage: You did? Then... Then why didn't you say something!
Child Magisa: Well, I can't change the future, and moreover, nobody asked.
Child Magisa: I beat the monster though! Isn't that good?
Frightened Mage: Hmph... I could have handled it myself. Children should stick to their toys.
Magisa: The number of adults dissatisfied with my behavior grew. Looking back, it was bound to happen.
Magisa: But my younger self did nothing to correct her behavior...
Local Child: Look, Papa! I summoned my first familiar!
Local Mage: Well, will you look at that! You're on your way to being a powerful mage!
Local Child: Well, Magisa's familiar was way bigger than mine! I wanna be just like—
Local Mage: You don't need to worry about Magisa. She's... different from us, okay?
Local Mage: Don't play with her anymore, either. She's more than talented enough to play on her own.
Local Child: O-okay...
Magisa: ...
Magisa: The same adults who once praised me suddenly began to abandon me.
Magisa: The other children either followed their lead or were told to avoid me...
Magisa: At first, I was a little hurt by their actions, but it didn't bother me that much.
Magisa: I had made it this far on my own, so what did it matter? However, it wasn't long before I noticed something else.
Magisa: Being alone is rather dull.
Child Magisa: Ugh, I'm so bored... I've already read all the books in the library, so what now?
Child Magisa: Ah, I know! I should try making my own magic!
Magisa: I took an existing spell used to summon familiars, made a few adjustments, and...
Child Magisa: Come forth, my servant!
Past Morax: Seeker of the Arcane Arts, you have summoned the great Morax. Now, let us forge our contra—
Child Magisa: Wh-whoa! It talks! The familiars I've summoned up until now have only ever chirped or growled!
Child Magisa: Um... What can you offer me, Morax?
Past Morax: All of my arcane abilities will be yours.
Child Magisa: You mean, like magic?
Child Magisa: Well, I don't really need that...
Past Morax: ...!
Child Magisa: Ah, but that means you can help me with other stuff, right?
Past Morax: Well, yes, but—
Child Magisa: Okay, then it's settled! O Great Morax, I command thee...
Child Magisa: Become my servant for life!
Past Morax: Heh... The contract has been sealed.
Magisa: And that's how Morax and I met.

A Witch's Past: Scene 3

As Magisa finishes her story, Morax speaks up and reveals that the price of his contract with Magisa was her physical abilities. He thanks the group for saving Magisa before disappearing into the void. That night, Magisa and (Captain) go for a stroll along the beach, and Magisa happily reflects on how lucky she is to have a familiar and friends who care about her.

After listening to Magisa's tale, the first to speak is Suframare.
Suframare: I cannot believe it! Familiar spells are certainly popular...
Suframare: But I've never heard of anyone making adjustments and summoning a familiar with such a strong sense of identity and power. This is revolutionary!
Suframare: No wonder Morax doesn't fit the characteristics of a familiar—this is a completely new form of magic!
Suframare's praise flows out of her in a fury as Morax hovers above, silent.
Magisa: I certainly wasn't trying to do anything extraordinary...
Magisa: But it must have been for you to gush about it like that.
Vyrn: In any case, that story doesn't help us figure out why you can't swim.
Vyrn: Are you sure you didn't just forget that you're actually a lousy swimmer?
???: Sigh... To think you would forget the terms of our contract. Generations of witches must be rolling in their graves.
Vyrn: Wh-what was that?
Magisa: Moe!
Everyone turns towards the source of the voice, only to find Morax.
Morax: I believe this is the first time we have ever conversed.
Morax: I am Morax. Through Magisa, fate has allowed me to live with you all on this vessel.
Morax: Firstly, allow me to apologize for never directly communicating with you all before.
  1. You're so polite.
  2. Thank you for always helping us.

Choose: You're so polite.
Morax: I consider manners to be part of my duties as a servant, but I suppose I can relax a little now.

Choose: Thank you for always helping us.
Morax: Your thanks are unwarranted. It is Magisa, not I, who has been assisting you.
Morax: I am merely her servant.

Magisa: Now what was this about the conditions of the contract?
Morax: So you really do not remember... There were a few missing components from Magisa's story, so I shall fill in the blanks.
Morax: After being summoned by Magisa, she asked me for the details of our contract. I believe that much was said already.
Morax: And while Magisa did request that I serve her for life, the story does not end there...
Past Morax: For me to grant your request, you must pay the appropriate price. Just as a familiar requires their master's magic, I too require something.
Child Magisa: If it's magic power you want, I've got more than enough. It's practically leaking out of me.
Past Morax: Indeed it is. If this was a onetime summoning, I would be satisfied with that.
Past Morax: However, a lifelong contract is a different matter. I require something more.
Child Magisa: You sure are complicated. What kind of stuff were you thinking?
Past Morax: Perhaps your beauty or your lifespan... Things of that nature.
Child Magisa: Well, I don't want to stop being cute, and I'm not in a hurry to die either.
Child Magisa: What's something important that I don't need? Hmm...
Child Magisa: Ah, I know! How about my physical abilities? You know, like my skills at fighting hand-to-hand!
Past Morax: Well, if you were to call it your natural gifts as a warrior, it could work...
Past Morax: Then it is settled. With this transaction, I, Morax, am yours to command.
Vyrn: So you gave up your ability to swim after all!
Suframare: It all makes sense now. In a way, this is similar to a curse.
Lyria: But how have you never noticed before? You'd think it'd be obvious when you're running.
Magisa: Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever run full speed since forming a contract with Moe.
Magisa: I've always just called Moe and had him carry me.
Vyrn: You've had your work cut out for you, huh, Morax?
Morax: It is all part of the contract. In any case, it seems I have interrupted your gathering. I shall return to the void.
Morax: Before I take my leave, I must express my gratitude to everyone for saving Magisa back there. You have my thanks.
Lyria: He's gone...
Magisa: He's never been much of a talker. I can't believe I forgot something so important, though. It seems memories of those times are still too painful for me.
Suframare: Of course they would be. Regardless of the part you played in how the townspeople treated you...
Suframare: All children make mistakes, especially the talented ones! The adults around you should have had more patience!
Suframare: If I ever find myself in your hometown, your teachers are going to get an earful from me.
Magisa: Hehe... Don't be too hard on them, okay?
Vyrn: Well, if you can't swim, we should probably avoid the ocean. Luckily, there's a lot more to Auguste than the beach!
Lyria: That's right! We could go shopping! You like folk art, right? The shops around here sell lots and lots of it!
Magisa: Oh my, you've certainly piqued my interest.
Vyrn: Hehe, all right then! Starting tomorrow, we're going on a shopping spree!
Suframare: Could I possibly join you all?
Suframare: I have so many questions about magic that I want to ask you, Magisa!
Magisa: I don't mind, but I'm not sure I'll have all the answers...
Suframare: It doesn't matter! The most important part of magic is an open mind! I can't wait for tomorrow...
With that, the group excitedly begin discussing their plans for the next day.
That night.
Magisa: Thank you for humoring me, (Captain). I know I was asking a lot when I said I wanted to feel the sea breeze.
(Captain) and Magisa stroll down the beach, side by side.
Magisa: That was just an excuse though.
Magisa: If I told you I wanted to go to the beach, I knew you'd join me.
Magisa: Hehe... We never did get to have our seaside date, so I'm making up for it now.
Magisa: The beach is so quiet at night. It's hard to believe it was so rambunctious here a few hours ago. How mysterious...
Magisa: If I had entered the water at this time, I would've surely sunk deep down into the watery depths...
(Captain) scolds her, reminding her not to go in the water.
Magisa: I know, I know. I'm just going to look. But I wonder...
Magisa: If I were to jump into the water and started to drown...
Magisa: Would you still rescue me?
Magisa draws closer, staring passionately into (Captain)'s eyes.
  1. I'll always save you.

Choose: I'll always save you.
Magisa: Oh my!
Magisa: Then shall we return to where we left off this afternoon? Just kidding.
Magisa: I think our little rendezvous will have to wait for another time. The ocean is a bit too dangerous.
As Magisa pulls her hand away, (Captain) grabs it by reflex.
Magisa: Don't do anything reckless? Geez, you don't trust me at all, do you?
Magisa: I suppose that's to be expected, seeing as I forgot such an important part of my contract.
Magisa: But perhaps... I can let you fret over me, just a little.
Magisa softly squeezes (Captain)'s hand.
Magisa: (I wonder why Moe didn't try to stop me before I went in the water.)
Magisa: (One misstep and I would have—no, Moe's power wouldn't have let me drown, even in the ocean...)
Magisa: (I wonder if this was Moe's plan all along...)
Magisa: Hehe, he's one heck of a mastermind.
Hearing her chuckle, (Captain) asks what's on Magisa's mind.
Magisa: I just realized how lucky I am.
Magisa: I've been blessed with a caring familiar and friends who want to discuss magic with me.
Magisa: I really am glad I came on this trip with you.
(Captain) responds to Magisa's gratitude with a smile.
Magisa: Why don't we walk around for a bit longer? The night is still young, after all...
And so, their stroll together continues on into the night...
