But I did so anyway for her coming-of-age rite. Was hoping to pick up something nice for her to celebrate. The ritual happens once a year and must be undergone by all children who've come of age. But this time the elder's son, who was still too young, also partook in the ceremony the same year as my sister... And we know how that turned out. Despite being raised in a family of herbalists, my sister was skilled in martial arts. Yet I was the one who came out of it alive. There's no telling when you'll see your last sunset, or when your meeting with someone will be the last you ever see of them. Treasure this miracle of a day, (Captain), where you are surrounded by so many good friends. Although it also means you have that much more to lose, I assure you it is better than living life alone.
2	✔	What are you doing here? Mugen told me today was your birthday, but I'm sure you know better than to expect me to celebrate. If you have time to visit me, you should go see Seox instead. Or perhaps the twins. I'm sure Mugen would be delighted to hear from you, for instance. I know you're not a bad person. Though I hate to admit it, I can tell that much from the way you treat those around you. So you should spend your time with the people who care about you. If you keep putting it off, you'll just end up kicking yourself in the end. Be careful not to live a life bound by regrets.
3	✔	Come to think of it, Mugen and Wamdus both came to me separately asking about herbal tea. So they wanted to serve it to you on your birthday... Everything makes sense now. Well, maybe not everything... I assume they must have been thrilled that you were happy. But to think you drank so much that it made you sick... Unbelievable... Choose: My stomach won't stop gurgling... I guess it's partially my fault for not realizing what was going on and suggesting that they serve one pot of tea together. Anyway, Mugen and Wamdus would be crushed if they knew about this. I'd rather not have that. Not to mention, the people who prepared your dinner, cake, and whatnot would feel let down too. I guess that leaves me with no choice. I'll give you some medicine that will assist with fluid excretion. If you take it and avoid eating and drinking for a while, you should be able to manage. Good grief. It's hard to tell whether this is all because you're a good person at heart or just greedy. Either way, don't forget to assess your limits, whatever they're in relation too. Otherwise, you'll end up causing no end of heartache to those around you.
4	✔	Have you already received Wamdus's gift? Mugen was eagerly making sweets to give you as well. Yes? Good. Bestowing blessings can be a relief for the gift-giver too. Make sure to cherish what you're given. A blessing from me? After all the blessings you've received, you still want more? Happy birthday. How about that? Hm, considering you've been a great help to Mugen, Wamdus, Tien, and the others... I suppose it's not entirely out of place for me to offer my blessing as well... Though whether my blessing holds any significance is a different matter. ... For one thing, I never intended to have anything to do with you or Seox ever again... Yet before I knew it, I found myself involved with you two on a regular basis. There's no telling what lies in the future, for better or worse.
5	✔	Happy birthday. Are you satisfied? Hmph. Don't you have enough people to celebrate without dragging me into all this? But fine... Mugen wanted to come, and it's your ship and crew. I suppose you can summon whoever you like. Whether we like it or not, people connect with and influence each other. That applies to you and me as well. Those connections form our identities, but also forcibly bind us to the fact that our lives are not just for ourselves. What I'm saying is... Take care of yourself. The value of your life extends far beyond you. Some of your crewmates may not be able to say what they need to out of concern. So, I'll say it in their stead. It could all be over in an instant. Treat the time you have with others like the precious gift that it is. I'm not giving up the ghost just yet. I'll keep these old bones going—even for those who despise me.

1	✔	Why come see someone like me who's all doom and gloom on this special day? Mugen's past New Year's resolutions? Hm, I never asked. He wants to be a better singer, huh... Explains why he tries forcing me to listen to his lullabies. Never pegged him for the type to get back at me because I spent so much time sleeping. As someone who used to pester me for lullabies but now shares that with others, he's found his way of paying it forward. Here's hoping his next resolution is to want to live on, regardless of whatever happens to me. Mugen's a fast learner. It shouldn't take long for him to catch up with everything he's missed out on in terms of civilization. There's no need for him to keep following my lead. He deserves to live his own life.
2	✔	Why are you here? The year has only just begun, and you're already bored? If you've come in search of a sick man to kill time with, I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint. I already have plans. There's some medicine I'd like to finish mixing. I don't want anything impeding my work. Choose: What medicine? Antipyretics, anti-inflammatories... I need to stock up on general remedies that will have some effect on the common cold. Colds tend to circulate during chilly periods with low humidity. Children are especially vulnerable, since they lack strength. You don't want to prolong the suffering of the children of Stardust Town, do you? If I've made myself clear, then take your leave at once... or at least sit there quietly.
3	✔	While Wamdus and Mugen are fetching drinks during a break in their card game, (Captain) asks the others a question. Choose: Are you guys... holding back? Did you just now realize? There's no need for us to teach Mugen and Wamdus our no-holds-barred style. Choose: I kind of want to try it... Oho? Is that so? What do you say, boys? Actually, I don't even have to ask. I see the fire burning in your eyes already. All right then. Let's try playing a game for real until those two get back. But don't come crying to me if you end up regretting it. So since we're doing this for real... what's everyone betting?
4	✔	Sleeping in a kotatsu with a terrible cough on New Year's Day of all days? Really now... Holidays are meant for resting your body, yet you ended up catching a cold. You lack the awareness befitting of a captain. But enough from me. Lecturing you isn't my job. Your throat seems inflamed. Here's some anti-inflammatory and cough medicine. Stay well-rested and keep yourself warm. Choose: Something sweet would be good. Huh? What are you saying— Wait, I suppose you do fall within the pediatric range... It's hard to believe, but facts are facts. I'll give you some sugar-coated medicine. Take it three times a day after meals. With mouth covered and the medicine given by Nehan in hand, (Captain) leaves the infirmary. A crew run by a child, huh... It's risky, to say the least. Then again, it's none of my business. Unless it involves Mugen, Tien, or anyone else from Stardust Town. ...
5	✔	Well, well. So you lazed around through New Year's and ended up stuffing your face under the kotatsu. Got a stomachache? You came all the way here hiding it from the rest of the crew? I'll give you a checkup. You're a lucky sort, captain. Whew. Nothing contagious, so that's a relief. There's a stomach flu going around among the kids, but you just seem to have made some bad lifestyle choices recently. It's probably... something stress-related. I'll prescribe you some medicine to settle your stomach. You need to keep track of your health. If you don't want your crew to worry, that's priority number one. Always remember that the best way to stay healthy is to prevent getting sick in the first place. Take better care of yourself. What? Am I not allowed to tell you that? Oh? So, you don't mind. Don't worry, the truth is a bitter pill to swallow sometimes.

1	✔	Valentine's chocolate for me? No thanks. Save it for yourself. I appreciate the gesture, but my taste buds are as good as dead. Best not to waste good food on me. Good food should be savored—something I'm wholly incapable of. I think of all the people who'd appreciate the taste of your chocolate so much more. They're the ones that are truly deserving of your gift—not me. Huh? Never mind the taste, and just think of the nutritional value? Heh, now that's some tenacity. I'm starting to see why Seox opened up to you. Fine then. I suppose they'd make for fine rations anyhow.
2	✔	... (Captain) visits Nehan's room to find him staring silently at an assortment of packages piled on the table before him. Choose: Something the matter? You're here too? A number of Stardust Town children came to my room this morning. I assumed they were ill, but they told me that wasn't the case and left these packages. Just look what it turned into. Apparently there are sweets inside. I told the children to eat them instead, but not a single one took any home... As Nehan frowns, (Captain) steps forward and places another gift on top of the pile. ...! Even you? What exactly do you expect someone without a sense of taste to do with this?
3	✔	Don't run in the hallway! You'll fall and hurt yourselves again! Nehan's voice echoes after the children as they dash out of the infirmary. Good grief. At least they're healthy, I guess... Hm? Oh, it's you. Choose: Happy Valentine's Day! You too? The children of Stardust Town have been dropping off sweets left and right since this morning... Met with an expectant silence, Nehan sighs deeply and turns to (Captain) wearing a sour expression. ... Happy Valentine's Day. There, are you happy? What? You want me to eat the sweets you brought? Every year it's the same thing... I realize I'm not exactly in the prime of health, but why are you and the children so focused on getting me to eat? I could use some more meat on my bones? If I get any heavier, that will just be more weight I have to put on my cane. Though I have a feeling that opening my big mouth like this is only going to have the opposite effect. I just can't win...
4	✔	You brought sweets again? You never give up, do you... I realize now that refusing won't make you back down. I'll accept them. Thank you, I suppose. What an intensely sweet aroma. I can smell it even through the wrapping. Did you use some kind of fragrance? My sense of smell is showing signs of recovery. It seems to be affecting my taste as well. According to the prodigious healer of the Eternals, most of my symptoms stem from psychological causes. Time eventually dulls memories—even the memories of past sins. My sense of smell can serve as proof of that. How foolish to believe I am forgiven, when that is an impossibility... In any case, this matter does not concern you. Mugen is handing out sweets made with chocolate; be sure to grab some.
5	✔	On a visit to Stardust Town, (Captain) notices children carrying presents lined up before the infirmary. Thank you... You must have put a lot of work into this. Hm? (Captain)? What's with that smile on your face? Choose: You're so popular, Nehan! I'm the sole doctor in town... Only natural they come to rely on me. This is just recipro— Nehan cannot finish his final word, as a girl arranging sweets on the table gives a pouting protest. Fine... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to dismiss your kindness so callously. Even so, there's quite a lot... They could have simply banded together to get me a present instead... Choose: Each one is filled with love! With that, (Captain) lays another gift upon the ever-growing pile. You, too... Well, alright... Thank you.

Back when he lived by himself, honey was one of the few pleasures he had in life. It's still one of his favorite treats to this day, and I was telling him it's a waste to give me the honey when I can't even taste it. But he can be pretty stubborn, you know... Choose: Fingers crossed that you taste again. Thanks... Hopefully before this honey goes bad. (Then again, the sugar content of honey ensures that it lasts longer than any one person's lifetime.) Which reminds me, the children of Stardust Town have a White Day gift for you. Never mind me, and go pay them a visit.
2	✔	... Seeing (Captain)'s arms overflowing with sweets, Nehan furrows his brow. Don't you have a bag or box on hand? If you carry them like that, you might drop them. ... Fine. Come to my room, and I'll lend you an extra crate. Mugen and the children of Stardust Town seemed to be looking forward to giving you sweets. If you ended up dropping them before you could even try a bite, I'm sure they'd be disappointed. Perhaps I'll prescribe you some stomach medicine while I'm at it. Eating that much could very well give you a stomachache. But that in itself would also upset Mugen and the others. Choose: Why would I eat that much at once! You can't be too careful.

I've learned that the more I joke around, the longer you tend to stay. Take those sweets with you. There are likely others on the airship who have prepared sweets for you as well. Choose: You're always well-stocked, I see. Most of the children here don't mind a visit to the doctor, but the younger ones especially can be afraid of medical examinations. Giving them sweets cheers them up a bit. What's with that face? Did you think I was going to eat them? I don't need to keep sweets in my room. Mugen brings me sweets he made himself. That's more than enough for me. There was a time in my childhood when I used to crave sweets as well. Yet nowadays I'm practically drowning in them...
5	✔	Nehan has left the island to learn new medical techniques, with (Captain) serving as bodyguard at Rei's request. Hm... Choose: Something on your mind? I want to buy some sweets to give the children after seeing them. I'll just be a moment. As (Captain) waits for Nehan to finish shopping, he suddenly calls out. Take this, (Captain). It's a sample. I can't tell how it tastes. Nehan pops the baked treat into (Captain)'s mouth. ... (I remember my sister used to do the same thing. She had some rough edges, but she was pretty nice overall.) (Why am I thinking about her at such a random moment?) Sorry... I'm done shopping. Let's go back to Stardust Town. That's where I belong now...

1	✔	You're that crew captain... Seox's friend... My mask? It's part of my Halloween getup. Mugen insisted that I dress up to go trick-or-treating. Choose: You look a lot like Seox. You must be wondering why my mask is so similar to his... My owners in the Magasin family saw great financial opportunity in my association with the Karm Clan. So much so that they had this mask specifically tailored for me. What a joke, eh? But enough talk. I've kept Mugen waiting long enough.
2	✔	Treats... In other words, something sweet... If I roast nuts and cover them with a sugary glaze, will that suffice, I wonder? Nehan's train of thought is interrupted by the entrance of (Captain), whom he gives a reproving look. I'm busy. If you're not injured or ill, I suggest you go elsewhere. Choose: Are you making treats? What? How did you... Actually, I imagine Mugen told you. ... You seem to be expecting something, but I won't be making anything special. In fact, I can't. If it's treats you want, I'm sure you'd be happier receiving them from your fellow crew members. My words aren't getting through, are they? It's clear you must have forced your way into Seox's heart rather than him opening it of his own accord. I still need to make the sweets, so that leaves you with less time to get some elsewhere. In the end, it seems your greed was your downfall.

Are you telling me Mugen made this too? You and Wamdus helped? And the children of Stardust Town decorated it... No, it's very well-made. So much so that I was surprised. I see... So Mugen did this with the other children... I have no doubt that he'll be able to do anything he puts his mind to. He's always had it in him, after all. And he's not scared of interacting with other people anymore. It's a great thing, really. ... What are you grinning about? That crepe is mine, right? Hand it over already.

You too, huh? Some of the Eternals have come by as well. Choose: Is Seox around? No, he's not. Why do you ask? Never mind, don't answer that. I'm not in the mood for a drawn-out conversation. I have no intention of finding out what your "trick" is either. Just grab Mugen's pancakes and head back to the airship. Mugen, give me two portions. I'll wrap them up myself.
5	✔	Ah, (Captain)... I'm rather busy at the moment. Come back later. Choose: What's wrong? Can I help? Well... Alright. I suppose I could use some help dealing with Mugen. He said that he saw a ghost with the same hair color as my own and that it must be a spirit of the Karm clan. He wanted to say hello to it, so he's currently on the hunt. I assume he simply saw Seox wearing a costume in the area, but... (A spirit from the clan... What would it say if it saw me now?) (Would it see me as a disgrace to the clan? Or recognize that I left the clan behind and I'm trying to acclimate myself to a new life?) Ah, it's nothing. Just an old man getting a little sentimental. I need to find Mugen and talk him down, but you can go enjoy the festivities. Happy Halloween. Perhaps there is a spirit out there waiting to see you, as well.

I was just explaining to Mugen that Santa has nothing to give to adults. And of course, the same goes for naughty children. Meaning even if I were a kid, Santa wouldn't bother with me. Make sense, Mugen? That's why you're better off using that stocking for yourself. I've no doubt the jolly old man will have something for you. Got it? Good. Huh? You suggest we share the same bed tonight, so that your pillow will be my pillow? What are you talking about, Mugen? (Captain). Would you stop laughing and tell Mugen what this holy night's all about? Because I've long since forgotten.
2	✔	After arriving in Stardust Town, (Captain) stops by Nehan's office. Nehan's Voice: Who's there? Choose: I'm coming in! Nehan: I didn't invite you in, you know. Well... I guess there's no harm in you being here since I have nothing to hide from you. Nehan opens the lid of the box at his feet and removes the contents, wrapping them in a paper bag before placing them in another box. Choose: What's that? Nehan: These are sweets that the twins plan to leave at their siblings' bedsides. They said it would be hard to wrap them away from prying eyes, so I took on the task. As a form of rehabilitation, it's not bad. The appearance had to be sacrificed somewhat, but... I guess it's what's inside that counts. Stare at me all you want—I don't have any for you. If it's sweets you're looking for, ask your own companions. I'm sure Seox and the twins would be happy to oblige you as well.
3	✔	Urgh... Choose: Are you okay? Never mind me. I just overate at the holiday feast. Or rather... I was overfed. I had a feeling it would come to this. But Mugen, Wamdus, and the children all wanted to stuff my face for some reason... And you're partially to blame for laughing instead of stopping them. Well, no matter. I'm sure it will clear up with some stomach medicine. I'd hate to see all those elaborate dishes go to waste... If anything urgent comes up this evening, I'll be in the infirmary. You're free to unwind with the children or return to the ship—whatever you want. ... Listen, I don't need you to come with me. I'm not sick, so stop looking at me like that.
4	✔	Nehan's Voice: Wake up. This is no place to sleep. Nehan: Finally awake, huh? Mugen, Tien, and I carried the sleeping children to their rooms; you're the last one. It may have been a holiday feast, but you and the children got carried away—to the point of exhaustion and sleep... Choose: Groan... Can't eat anymore... Nehan: After how much you wolfed down, that's no surprise... Wait, are you still half-asleep? Unbelievable... Stardust Town may be a safe place nowadays, but are you not being a little too lax? Ah, Mugen. You're back. Are the children asleep? Good. I have one more for you to carry. There's no going back to the Grandcypher with a half-asleep captain. A guest room in town will have to do. Sunny Clinic

A rampant cold in Stardust Town has left Nehan with no medicine. With a dire need to refill his supplies and improve his medical knowledge, Nehan decides to ask for Rei's permission to temporarily leave Stardust Town. In response, Rei requests a member of (Captain)'s crew to act as Nehan's guard, to which Seofon suggests Seox take the job.

Despite winter's end nearing, icy temperatures continue their hold on Stardust Town.

At a certain infirmary is Nehan, carefully examining a young boy.

Nehan: Let's take a look at your throat. Open wide for me.

Sunny Scott: Aaah...

Nehan: All right, you can close your mouth now. Looks like the inflammation's gone down.

Mugen: Body temperature is... umm, average!

Sunny Scott: Which means I'm totally recovered! You're such a worrywart, Doc!

Mature Mia: And who was it exactly that caught the same cold twice?

Mugen: Cold very bad. Need to make full recovery. Very important.

Sunny Scott: Sorry... I know it's not good to keep getting sick. All I'm doing is giving Doc more work.

Nehan: Not really. I don't mind.

Nehan: But what I am concerned about is this rapidly spreading virus.

Mature Mia: When I caught it I got better pretty fast, so I was really worried when the others started getting fevers!

Mugen: Mugen glad Mugen strong. Use power to help people.

Nehan: Both of you were a great help today. Thanks.

The pair wordlessly make their way back to the dock when the sound of shaky breathing catches Seox's attention.

Without hesitation, Nehan walks over to where Seox is pointing.

The little girl nods as Nehan struggles to lower himself down onto one knee to match her gaze.
