Happy birthday, (Captain).
How does it feel to be celebrating your birthday?
I don't know when mine is, which is why I don't really get what a birthday is supposed to be.
But still, I know it's an important day for you, so I'll do whatever it takes to make sure you have fun.
I bought some bunny cake at the store where Micah works. Let's have it together.

I don't see any ants...
They must be hibernating in their nest to avoid the winter cold.
I wonder when I'll see my first army of marching ants this year...
...
Do you mind if I visit your crew, (Captain)?
The crew members split all the work to make sure everything gets done, right?
They're kinda like ants—and the Grandcypher is their flying nest.
I want to see the crew ants at work. Is that okay with you?
Though confused by Sariel's analogy, (Captain) agrees to his strange request and shows him around the airship.

What's the matter, (Captain)? Why'd you call me over?
Are you feeling unwell? Did something happen to your crew?
(Captain) takes a moment to reassure Sariel that everything is fine before offering a small bag of cookies.
Choose: Happy Valentine's Day!
Valentine's Day?
(Captain) explains the holiday to the confused archangel.
I see... I'm not sure if I fully understand the custom, but...
I'm glad you're okay, (Captain).

Um... I'm here to return your Valentine's Day favor.
I don't really get what White Day is about, but I thought of a few ways I could make you happy...
Come on in.
Sariel spreads his arms wide open, as if to invite (Captain) into them.
Although shocked at first, (Captain) slowly steps toward the archangel.
Sariel pulls the captain toward his chest before taking to the skies.
I thought you'd like these vast blue skies since you're always traveling with your crew.
And I figured getting a taste of flight would make you happy...
What do you think?
(Captain) nods with a wide grin, shouting excitedly as the two soar through the air together.

I use my scythe as a saw, then pick the tree up by its trunk before flying to my destination...
That's the job... I'm just glad I can be helpful.
Ah, but you already know that. You're the one who asked that I deliver this.
Would you like me to set the tree up on this deck? I'll make sure it doesn't get in the way of the sails.
Thanking Sariel, (Captain) shows the archangel to the party area to place the tree.
Choose: Come on over once you're done!
You're inviting me to your party? Is that really okay?
Thanks. I'll buy something delicious to bring over after I finish delivering all these trees.

Are You Looking for Something?

Sariel sets forth on a journey of self-discovery. While figuring out the process, he runs into Falsch, a fellow member of the Mole Troupe. The two head to a tavern to contemplate when Barawa suddenly appears.

Sariel, the fallen angel of execution. Once upon a time, he was betrayed by his superior, Belial. However, this act of betrayal ultimately led to him being saved.
Sariel: Even so, I want to know.
Sariel: Why did he let me live? What am I living for?
Hoping to pursue Belial, who had slipped through a "rainbow" crack between dimensions, Sariel sets forth on a journey of his own.
Over the course of many encounters and farewells, he once again runs into Peisma, the fallen angel of immortality, and the two become travel partners.
However, Peisma is overcome by his desire to seek revenge against Belial and ultimately succumbs to a dangerous power.
Sariel: I still don't know why I'm alive...
Sariel: But even so... I can now look around me and tell that I'm living.
Sariel: And that's thanks to you.
After saving Peisma, Sariel reunites with Belial in a mysterious space.
Sariel: But in the end... I never found the rainbow.
Belial: You don't have to look for it anymore.
Sariel: I don't? But until I find it, you'll be...
Belial: Don't give me that look. How about instead of the rainbow, you start searching for yourself?
Belial: That's apparently what skydwellers spend their whole lives doing, you know?
This marks the end of Sariel's search for a rainbow. Finally, he and Peisma part ways, and the fallen angel of execution sets forth on a new journey.
One bright, sunny day, Sariel finds himself in a familiar-looking town.
Sariel: Oh? I've seen this clock tower before...
Young Boy: Ah, it's the rainbow guy!
Sariel: Hm? Do I know you?
Young Boy: Even if you can't remember, we'd never forget!
Young Boy: The two of you said something about looking for a rainbow before camping out in front of this clock tower!
Sariel: Right, I visited this town while traveling with Peisma... Thanks for the reminder.
Young Boy: So what brings you back? Still rainbow hunting? The only thing you'll find here is a rain-bore.
Sariel: I'm done looking for rainbows. Now I'm looking for myself.
Young Boy: Yourself?
Young Boy: Hahahaha! You're being weird again!
Young Boy: What's there to look for? You're standing in front of me!
Sariel: ...!
Sariel: You're right... I am here...
Sariel: Then what is it that I need to find?
Sariel: Excuse me... There's something I'm looking for.
Town Official: Have you lost something?
Sariel: Hm... I'm looking for how to look for myself.
Town Official: Pardon?
Sariel: What do I need to look for in order to look for myself?
Snack Shop Manager: U-um... Well, it probably isn't candy...
Sariel: Do you know?
Cat: Meow...
Sariel: I see...
As the sun begins to set, Sariel wanders into a nearby park and slumps on one of its benches.
Sariel: Hm... This might be even harder than looking for a rainbow...
???: "To be, or not to be—that is the greatest of questions."
Sariel: ...!
Falsch: Why hello there, Sario! It's been a while!
Falsch: Phew...
Falsch: I can't just not drink on such a wonderful day!
Sariel: Then every day must be a wonderful one since you're always drinking.
Falsch—a member of the Mole Troupe alongside Sariel, Michael, and Azrael.
As a 36-year-old ex-prodigy actor, he hides his true identity, choosing instead to live in the shadows as a screenplay writer.
Falsch: I can't help it! What are the chances that I run into you, Sario?
Falsch: And to top it all off, the two of us are racking our brains over the same problem!
Sariel: You're looking for how to look for yourself too?
Falsch: To be completely honest with you, my screenplay gained more traction than I thought it would, and now I'm being asked to direct a show.
Sariel: Hm? You wrote a screenplay?
Falsch: N-no way! How'd you know? Who told you I wrote one!
Sariel: Um... You did. Just now.
Falsch: Whoops! I'd been meaning to keep it a secret!
Falsch: So this is what it means to be under the influence of alcohol! I gotta give it up to my liver—how about one more drink in its honor?
Sariel: Here, drink some water too.
Falsch takes one final swig before accepting the bottle of water. Then, after letting out a large sigh, he continues his speech.
Falsch: It's a very important show for a very important person. I wanted to put my best foot forward, so I agreed to it, but...
Falsch: My mind's been running around in circles! I can't come up with any good ideas. I feel like I've hit some kind of wall with how bad my writer's block is...
Falsch: Damn it! How did the old me even deal with all this theatre stuff?
Sariel: I guess we do have the same problem. Is that why you're out traveling?
Falsch: Exactly why! I left Sazak as fast as my feet would take me, and before I knew it, I wound up here.
Sariel: You came all this way just to drink?
Falsch: Oof! Again with the questions! You're killing me here...
Falsch: But here's the thing! Whenever you feel like something is missing, the best course of action is to drink!
Sariel: And that helps with the search?
Falsch: Even better! It makes you forget that anything was ever missing!
Falsch: Urgh... My head hurts... Just end me already...
Sariel: You look pretty rough. If you'd like, I think I have some bandages on me.
Sariel starts rummaging through his pockets, pulling out an assortment of trinkets and placing them on the counter.
Falsch: Bandages won't do. Only time can heal wounds to the heart—as well as this hangover.
Falsch: Hey, wait a sec! Isn't that our troupe's flag?
Sariel: It is... I took one with me for some reason.
Falsch: Hehehehe! I didn't know you were so fond of us, Sario!
Falsch: Oh? And what about that bottle full of rainbow sand? Is that supposed to be a gift for me?
Sariel: No, I got this from Peisma... He's a friend of mine.
Falsch: Whaaat? A friend?
Falsch: Sheesh, look at Mr. Popular over here! If I got a bagel instead of a donut, I'd at least pretend to be sad about it!
Sariel: Bagels are good too though.
Falsch: I know! If anything, I prefer them in the morning—but that's not my point!
As he sips on his water, Falsch carefully examines Sariel's other belongings.
Falsch: Impressive... A flag, a detective hat, a black feather, and some rainbow sand... That's quite the array of memorabilia you've got there.
Sariel: Uh-huh... So many colors, yet I still haven't found my own.
Falsch: Oh, right... I said that, didn't I?
Falsch: Listen carefully, all right? To reach that prism-color, first you need to attain all sorts of different colors.
Falsch: But in reality, what's vital is only one color... The first color.
Falsch: Your own color. If you don't know what your own color is, you won't be able to adapt even if you acquire other colors.
Falsch: To know, one must ask—to be, or not to be?
Falsch: Don't sweat it! I'm sure the Sario right now will have no problem finding his own color!
Sariel: I hope so... But as nice as it is that you have my back, aren't you also looking for yourself?
Falsch: Hrgh! You can't pounce a question like that on me! You'll break my poor heart!
In a repeat of the past, Falsch lets out a dramatic wail of sorrow, when suddenly...
???: Hello, my friends! If you're looking for something, look no further!
Sariel: ...!
The tavern door slams open, and the figure of large man enters the scene.
Barawa: I, the genius detective Barawa, am here to help! State your problem, and I will solve it!

To Be a Rainbow

At Barawa's advice, Sariel puts aside his self-discovery journey momentarily and helps the detective out. During their time together, Barawa plans a reunion with Azrael, another Mole Troupe member. The peace and quiet allows the fallen angel to take his mind off his bloodstained past.

Sariel sets forth on a journey of self-discovery but is soon met with a more basic dilemma—he must first learn what it means to look for oneself.
As he wanders around town, the fallen angel runs into Falsch, and the two end up chatting about their troubles at a local tavern.
Barawa: I, the genius detective Barawa, am here to help! State your problem, and I will solve it!
As they chat, Barawa, a detective who had at one point tried to employ Sariel, barges into the room.
Sariel: Barawa!
Sariel: The door came off.
Barawa: What! I must've pushed on it too hard!
Falsch: Oh my... Already creating new problems to solve, I see.
The detective refastens the door by its hinges before turning to face Falsch.
Barawa: You must be Falsch! Thank you for taking such good care of Sariel!
Barawa: I must say, your performance was truly moving—marvelous through and through!
Falsch: Ah, yes. The Detective of Venase... You watched our troupe perform from the second floor—row B, seat 85, correct?
Sariel: You memorized where he sat from the stage?
Falsch: Of course! It's a performer's job to know the audience!
Barawa: An ex-prodigy actor, indeed... Now you're a director who also writes screenplays, is that right?
Falsch: Oh? I see you're not too shabby a detective yourself.
Barawa: Heh... High praise coming from you.
Barawa: (I won't mention that I only know because I eavesdropped on their conversation before entering the tavern...)
Sariel: In any case... What brings you here, Barawa?
Barawa: Ah, well. I'm actually in town on my own business.
Barawa: But when I heard talk on the street of a strange wanderer asking about how to look for oneself, I decided to do some digging and wound up here.
Barawa: I believe I understand the gist of the situation now though! Allow me to offer you my assistance!
Falsch: Thank you, but I'll have to decline. It's about time I head back to Sazak.
Sariel: Oh... Will we meet again?
Falsch: Sooner than you think.
Falsch: Farewell, Sario. May we both find what we seek!
Falsch then rises from his seat and slowly stumbles out of the tavern.
The next morning, Sariel joins Barawa in tailing suspicious man.
Barawa: Thanks for tagging along, Sariel. It's nice having another pair of eyes on the lookout.
Sariel: No problem... But how will investigating cheaters help me look for myself?
Barawa: Hahaha! It won't—not directly, at least.
Barawa: But when it comes to looking for things, I have a little theory.
Sariel: A theory?
Barawa: Listen up, Sariel. I believe the easiest way to find something is to forget about it.
Barawa: Be it a fountain pen, the keys to your house, or a rainbow stag.
Sariel: So I need to do things that aren't related to myself?
Barawa: Well, I suppose it doesn't have to be detective work. You could just as easily relax at home instead.
Sariel: No... I want to do this. It's been a while since I worked with you, Barawa.
Barawa: Oh? It appears you've learned how to speak up for yourself since we last met.
Sariel: You think so?
Barawa: Ah, our target is on the move! Full speed ahead!
Sariel: Slow and steady. He'll notice us if we're too fired up.
Later, Sariel helps Barawa organize some paperwork, look for a missing pet, and do a few other odd jobs.
Days pass, and the archangel eventually grows accustomed to his role as junior detective.
Azrael: Oyoyo? Well if it isn't my dear little Sarry!
Sariel: Adeu?
Azrael: That's right! Iss is here too!
Hearing word of a local request, Sariel is met with familiar faces during his visit to a farm on the town outskirts.
Azrael and Israfel—twin primals who serve as the archangels of instruction. Azrael is also a member of the Mole Troupe.
Azrael: Ah, wait... Sarry, are you the detective? Have you come to take on the mowing request?
Sariel: Is that what we're here for, Barawa?
Barawa: It is, indeed! I didn't expect our client to be a friend of yours though. What a coincidence!
Sariel: As happy as that makes me, why are detectives out doing lawn work?
Barawa: Simple! I just felt like being in touch with nature!
Sariel: I heard you sneaking around last night... And I saw a bunch of documents about the Mole Troupe on your desk.
Barawa: Hey, Sariel! No investigating an investigator—that's against the rules!
Azrael: I don't know what you guys are going on about, but I really do need help.
Azrael: This area is close to our home island, which is why we borrowed it out to use for farming.
Sariel: Did you borrow the extra plot of land to raise other kinds of crops?
Azrael: Well, look at you, Mr. Detective! We're actually trying to branch out from eggplants... Raffy's been sending us letters with his tips.
Sariel: Raffy?
Azrael: Raphael, silly! We're farming buddies now!
Azrael: But he has to make the effort to fly here, so he can't possibly look after our crops every single day...
Sariel: All I need to do is get rid of the overgrowth, right? Leave it to me.
Barawa: Whoa! That's a scary-looking scythe you've got there! Are you sure you should be using that to cut grass?
Sariel: It's fine.
Sariel nods, then heads to the field to get started with his work.
Azrael: Wow, Sarry! You're really good at this!
Sariel: I used this move a lot on my enemies.
Azrael: This is way better! Scythes are meant to be used on fields.
Azrael: I think it really suits you!
Sariel: Thank you.
Sariel: I should cut all the excess grass since it makes Adeu so happy.
Sariel: (I never thought I'd use my scythe for something like this though...)
The fallen angel repeats each swooping motion with a look of calm on his face.
Once his work is complete, Sariel takes a moment to stare at the now empty field—when Azrael stops by for chat.
Azrael: You're looking for how to look for yourself, huh? Sounds complicated, if you ask me.
Sariel: What about you, Adeu? Have you ever felt lost or troubled?
Azrael: Every single day! Yesterday, I tried drying my clothes on a tree branch, but the wind blew them all away...
Azrael: It took me, Hal, and Mal forever to pick everything up...
Sariel: I see... Well, I'm glad you had help.
Azrael: Yep! And thank you, Sarry, for always helping meow out!
Sariel: Hm? Are you talking about my work today?
Azrael: Nope, I mean every day!
Azrael: The time I spent in the Mole Troupe—my time as Adeu—is precious to me...
Azrael: Even though everyone's far away, you're all close in my heart.
Azrael: I imagined Fal laughing at all the scattered clothes, Micah helping me pick it up, and you just standing there and watching.
Sariel: A kind of mini Mole Troupe, huh? I'd help you out too though.
Azrael: Yay! And I'd help you as well, Sarry!
Azrael: I know we just happened to see each other today, but even when we aren't together, I'm cheering for you... I'm sure everything will turn out purr-fectly!
Sariel: You do? I've still got a lot to learn from you, Adeu.
As Azrael enthusiastically nods, she's hit with a sudden realization.
Azrael: Oh, that reminds me! You're gonna watch the show too—right, Sarry?
Sariel: The show?
Azrael: I can't wait! I already feel so excited!
Barawa's Voice: Whoaaa!
Azrael: Oyoyo? Is that the splash of someone falling in the water?
Sariel: He probably got pushed by his dog... We should go help him out.
Sariel and Azrael hurry over to save the soaking detective.
Finally, after the two angels say their farewells, Sariel heads back to town.

To Be a Rainbow: Scene 2

Barawa gives Sariel a ticket to a performance before taking his leave. The show is held in Sazak, starring Michael as lead actress and directed by Falsch. Once the curtains fall, Sariel dashes out of the theater to the back alley of the Mole Troupe's beginnings.

Sariel and Barawa continue their detective work in the clock tower town.
However, the time comes for Barawa to depart, and the two spend their final day together.
Sariel: This sure is a peaceful place. I didn't get to shout "You're under arrest!" or anything. I even practiced the line.
Barawa: Hahaha! Nothing wrong with a bit of peace and quiet!
Barawa: Well, Sariel... I'm sorry that we weren't able to figure out your whole self-search thing.
Sariel: Oh, right... I was doing that, wasn't I?
Barawa: Hey, don't tell me you forgot!
Sariel: I was busy being a detective.
Barawa: All's well that ends well, I suppose! I, for one, had a wonderful time!
Barawa lets out another bellowing laugh as he reveals a slip of paper, which he then extends toward Sariel.
Barawa: I'd like you to have this. It's a little parting gift from me.
Sariel: What's this?
Barawa: It's a ticket to a show—although I suspect you won't need one.
Barawa: In any case, go! There's a performance that requires your attendance!
Barawa: Until we meet again!
Sariel: Right. See you around.
After the two partners go their separate ways, Sariel heads to the address marked on the ticket he had received.
His destination was none other than Sazak—home of the Primarchs and the Mole Troupe's base of operations.
Sariel: Sazak... I haven't been here in a while.
Sariel: Let's see... I need to go to Sazak Theater's main hall...
Vyrn: Oh hey, it's Sariel!
Sariel: Singularity? What are you all doing here?
Lyria: We're here to watch the performance! Isn't that why you're here too?
Vyrn: Wouldn't wanna miss a show starrin' Michael as the lead!
Vyrn: The Sazak School of Acting organized the event, so most of the performers are students. Didn't stop it from becomin' the talk of the town though!
Sariel: Ah...
Michael: ...
I'm going to be taking on a leading role in one of the acting school's plays.
Sariel: Another Bassani? Congratulations.
Michael: I had come here to tell you that. I'll be sure to keep a seat open.
Sariel: Thank you for letting me know. But you should try to fill all the seats.
Michael: No, I meant that I'll have a ticket for you...
Sariel: This must be the performance Micah was talking about...
Lyria: Apparently, a mysterious new director is in charge of the show!
Vyrn: Oh, who was it again? I think it was some guy who reinterpreted a famous play and turned it into something new...
Sariel: ...
Falsch: To be completely honest with you, my screenplay gained more traction than I thought it would, and now I'm being asked to direct a show.
Falsch: It's a very important show for a very important person. I wanted to put my best foot forward, so I agreed to it, but...
Sariel: (A show that Falsch and Micah put together...)
Michael: To be, or not to be—that is the greatest of questions.
Michael: To exist is to suffer... The gnawing pain of hunger and the feelings of inferiority—they make me want to strangle myself during those sleepless nights.
Michael: But with death comes the fear of the unknown... It is an outcome I am not yet ready to embrace.
Michael: Oh, the absurdity of it all! How I wish to feed my worries to some wayside pigeon!
Michael: Perhaps our lives are nothing more than a series of tragedies—but at least for tonight, let us enjoy a chapter of boisterous laughter.
Sariel: I didn't understand.
Sariel: That's right... Neither when I was playing Anto from the Detective of Venase.
Sariel: Even so, when I look at Micah standing proudly atop that stage...
Vyrn: Wow, what a show! Everyone's gettin' up from their seats to clap!
Lyria: Let's go to the green room and say hi! I want to tell Michael my thoughts on her performance!
Vyrn: Good idea! We can invite Sariel too!
Lyria: Huh? It looks like he already left.
Sariel: Huff... Huff...
Sariel dashes out of the theater, running through the streets of Sazak as fast as his legs would allow.
In his arms is the Mole Troupe flag, which he holds tight to his chest.
Sariel: ...
Several Cries: ...!
Sariel: This is where... it all began...
Sariel closes his eyes, calms his breathing, then begins to speak.
Sariel: "Now listen carefully. All the skies are a stage—and everyone in them an actor."
Sariel: ...
Sariel recites his line into the dim evening air, but is only met with silence. Then...
Michael: "Ah, Anto... I am a fool. Will you listen to what I have to say?"
Sariel: ...!
Azrael: "My cat costume is too much for these skies!"
Falsch: "You called me the devil's child! I'll never forget that!"
Sariel: Micah! Adeu! Falsch!
The executioner archangel turns around and sees his three friends standing before him.
Sariel: You guys... What are you doing here?
Michael: I could ask you the same thing.
Azrael: Meow! We're like peas in a pod!
Falsch: I told you we'd meet soon.
Sariel: ...!
Falsch: Say, Micah... Shouldn't you be back at the theater for the aftershow greetings?
Falsch: It's a school-sponsored event, so I'm sure the instructors have a few speeches prepared. Is it okay for their lead actress to be missing like that?
Michael: Hmph... As if you have any right to talk. What's the director doing at a place like this?
Falsch: Hey, my identity is technically still a secret. You, on the other hand, need to understand the importance of communication.
Michael: You're the last person I want to hear that from.
Sariel: I think we all have some learning to do.
Azrael: Ahaha! Never a boring moment with you guys around!
Azrael: If you're gonna keep talking, you might as well sit down.
Sariel: You've got a point... But our burrow is...
The troupe members all look toward the spot where the underground entrance had once been.
Falsch: Huh? Is that a hole I see?
Upon closer inspection, the opening—which should have been closed off to construction—showed traces of tampering.
Sariel: Hm... Someone put a letter here...
Barawa: "To my dear friend Sariel,

I've done you a solid and opened the place up just for tonight!"
Barawa: "I'm going to close it up again tomorrow morning, so make sure to leave by sunrise! Have fun!

Your friend,
Barawa"
Sariel: It looks like Barawa did this for us.
Falsch: That detective? Didn't he smash the place open with his fists last time?
Azrael: How about we all get him some special mochi later? Y'know, as thanks!
Sariel: Let's hurry up and enter the burrow. There isn't much time left before dawn.
With that, the four Mole Troupe members return to their old hideout.

To Be a Rainbow: Scene 3

The reunited Mole Troupe members enter their old burrow that Barawa had opened. Amid the banter, Michael, Falsch, and Azrael's opinions provided an answer for Sariel's search for himself—to become a rainbow.

After preparing some rose hip tea that had been left behind in the burrow, the troupe members sit in their usual spots.
Azrael: Mm! What a nice, sweet fragrance!
Michael: I made a little snack to munch on as well. Here, have some bunny cake.
Michael divides the shortcake she had brought into four equal slices, and the quartet begin their little tea party.
Sariel: Huh? Falsch's cake is missing its strawberry.
Falsch: Hm? You've got it all wrong, Sario. I already ate mine.
Azrael: You too, Fal? But I get it. Eating your favorite parts first just makes sense.
Azrael: Like the cherry on top of a parfait. Or the steak in a steak meal.
Michael: Wait, Adeu. Is it not best to save the most enjoyable parts for last?
Azrael: Oh, so you eat your strawberry at the end, huh?
Michael: Hm... By saving it for last, I can finish my snack on a satisfied note.
Sariel: I think you should start at the pointy end and work your way in. It provides a nice balance of flavors.
Sariel: Take curry. You don't save the sauce for later and eat all the rice first. That'd be weird.
Azrael: Hold on. I think you've got a point...
Michael: A fallacious argument, if you ask me. I would know as the one working at a cake shop.
Falsch: Ah, sorry. But while we're on the topic...
Falsch: I'm against strawberries on my shortcake.
All Three: Huh?

What!

Meow!
Michael: Impossible! Do you mean to tell us that you start with the parts you dislike?
Falsch: No, that's not it. It's precisely because I like strawberries.
Sariel: What do you mean?
Falsch: A strawberry's sweetness is unadulterated perfection! But if you eat it after a mouthful of cream, it only tastes sour!
Falsch: It's blasphemy of the highest order! I believe you should rethink putting strawberries on shortcake!
Michael: ...!
W-wait!
Michael: But it tastes good! Strawberry shortcake is delicious!
Azrael: Ahaha! Looks like you've got Micah all flustered.
Falsch: Oh? Have I come out on top for once?
Michael: Hold on... You just need to have it with tea! That's right—tea!
Michael: You drink it to cleanse your palate! That way, you can enjoy the best of both worlds!
Falsch: I dunno... I don't think they go well together to begin with...
Sariel: Maybe the fact that they're incompatible is what makes them compatible.
Falsch: Detective Sario? No need to get all philosophical on me.
Sariel: The Mole Troupe is the same way.
Azrael: Meow! I think I get it! Sarry might be onto something!
Michael: Heh... Even when we talked with one another on a daily basis, we never seemed to agree on anything.
After the quartet finish eating their cake, Falsch pulls out a bottle of alcohol and stares squarely at Sariel.
Falsch: Anyway, Sario. How's your self-search search going?
Michael: A search for self-search? What a roundabout way to pursue it.
Azrael: Apparently, Sarry's been trying to figure out what to look for when looking for himself!
Sariel: What about you, Falsch? I thought we had the same problem.
Falsch: Me? Well, I can't say I've figured it out, but it's fine that way.
Sariel: It is?
Falsch: This isn't the first time I've questioned myself—about who I am or how I should live...
Falsch: I've thought about it—and forgotten just as quickly—countless times over the past thirty-some years... I've come to accept it at this point.
Falsch: Because between being and not being, I simply am.
Azrael: Ah, I totally get how you feel! Whenever I'm harvesting my eggplants, I think about what I can improve on next time...
Azrael: If I get too satisfied with my results, it'd all be for nothing!
Sariel: I wouldn't even know what vegetable to grow...
Michael: Even if you don't have a role to play, you can prepare yourself.
Sariel: Right... But even though I'm here with you all, I still don't know what to look for.
Michael: Let's see... I'll continue my example of acting.
Michael: When preparing yourself for a particular role, you have to imagine the character's past and future.
Sariel: Their past and future?
Michael: Of course, the present is of great importance as well, but it only exists because it is built upon the past, no?
Michael: Similarly, the future is a natural extension of the past.
Sariel: So what you're saying is... I need to look for my past and future?
Michael: In the case of acting, yes.
Michael stares off into the distance with a smile before continuing.
Michael: I myself have experienced many failures.
Michael: But I was blessed with many wonderful encounters along the way, eventually leading to my role as an actress.
Falsch: Oh my. How candid of you, Micah.
Michael: Seal your lips, fool. I'm trying to encourage our friend here.
Falsch: Anyway, Micah's right... Our time as the Mole Troupe may be in the past, but we still have our whole future ahead of us.
Azrael: Yep! And I have a mini Mole Troupe living on in my heart!
Falsch: Um, what? A mini Mole Troupe?
Sariel: ...
Nodding along in agreement, Sariel takes a moment to carefully examine the other troupe members.
Sariel: Thanks to you guys, I think I'm starting to understand.
Michael: Oh?
Sariel: Falsch told me he believed that I'd find my own color.
Sariel: But that got me thinking... I have so many colors—and that number keeps growing.
Falsch: You're gaining colors?
Sariel: Deputy Head, Old Bruce, Peisma... The other fallen angels, (Captain), and the crew... And last but not least, the Mole Troupe.
Sariel: Every time I meet someone, I feel like I'm experiencing a new color. That is my past...
Sariel: And those vibrant colors are gradually filling in the darkness within me... That is my future.
Azrael: Wow, you make it sound so pretty!
Sariel: Yes, it probably is. The colors all mix and match, forming a kind of bridge...
Sariel: It's... It's like I myself am a rainbow.
Michael: A rainbow?
Sariel: ...
Falsch: Wait, that's it? To be continued?
Azrael: But hey, you must feel pretty good, Sarry! Looks like a huge weight's been lifted off your shoulders!
Michael: Well... It's an answer Sariel found for himself—the best possible outcome.
Sariel: Thank you... I'll keep traveling to fulfill that goal.
Sariel: Not to find a rainbow—but to be one.
Sariel beams as he finishes his speech before slowly rising from his seat.
He then takes his Mole Troupe flag and places it in its old spot.
Sariel: This is where it's meant to be.
Michael: Agreed.
The troupe members spend the rest of the night going from one pointless topic to the next.
Their conversations were like that of friends who had met yesterday—and would meet again tomorrow.
Impervious to the rising sun above, they chat as if time itself had stopped.
So much so that Barawa eventually loses patience and comes barging in to stop them.
