Shopping With My Sis
Sutera follows her older sister Metera into town on a shopping trip. Sutera helps Metera pick out an outfit, and in return, Metera buys clothes for her sister as well. After shopping, they relax at a tea shop and reminisce about their childhood.
At an inn in the middle of a bustling city, Sutera looks worriedly at her older sister Metera.
Sutera: (She's been looking rather grim for a while now...)
Sutera: (I guess being with me just bores her that much...)
Metera: Ugh... You know, I'm starting to get sick of this look.
Metera mutters to herself as she stares up at the ceiling, sprawled out on the bed dejectedly.
Metera: Say, Sutera! You're not busy today, are you?
Sutera: Oh, um, no! Why do you ask?
Metera: Well, I've been thinking about getting some new clothes for winter.
Metera: You wanna come along with me?
Sutera: I'd be more than happy to join you if you'll have me. Though I don't know if I'll make good company...
Metera: I'm inviting you, aren't I? You'll be fine.
Metera: All right, then it's settled! There's no point hanging around, so let's get going!
Sutera: Hey, wait for me!
The sisters make their way through town as the streets are abuzz with end-of-year festivities.
After wandering around for a while, a certain boutique catches their eyes.
Metera: Heheh.
It really is nice to be in a proper city once in a while.
Metera: Come on, Sutera! We're not leaving until we've checked out every little thing in this place!
Sutera: Okay! We'll find something for you no matter the cost!
Metera: Oh, look at you! No need to be so serious, we're not exactly going into battle here.
Metera: I mean, the only one you're accompanying today is me, so just relax.
Sutera: Okay!
Metera enters the shop and starts trying on outfits without so much as a by-your-leave.
Metera: Hmm... I kind of like the color, but I already have something like this...
Metera: Not much point in getting it if I'm going for something new.
Meanwhile, Sutera is hesitantly browsing in the corner for something her sister might like.
Sutera: Hmm... I wonder if Metera would look good in something like this...
Metera: Sutera, come here for a minute!
Sutera: Right away!
Metera asks Sutera to try on some clothes so she can see what they look like on someone else.
Metera starts putting different clothes on Sutera as though she were a clothing store mannequin.
After carefully examining outfit after outfit, Metera finally decides on the perfect one.
Sutera waits patiently outside the changing room as Metera tries it on.
Sutera: Metera? How is it?
Metera: Ready? Ta-da!
Metera: What do you think? Doesn't this just scream of winter sophistication?
Sutera: Absolutely! It looks stunning on you!
Metera: I tried letting my hair down to match the outfit, but do you think it looks okay?
Sutera: Breathtaking as always! It goes well with the black and really completes the ensemble!
Metera: Th-thanks...
Sutera: Your genius extends even to your fashion sense! There's no way I could come up with an outfit like that!
Sutera fawns over Metera, oblivious to how awkward she is making her big sister feel.
To hide her embarrassment, Metera pushes Sutera into the changing room.
Sutera: Wait! Metera, what are you doing?
Metera: Now it's your turn!
Sutera: What?
Metera: Just shut up and try this on.
Sutera: If you say so...
Sutera changes into the outfit as her sister says.
Sutera: Metera, I finished changing... Are we done here now?
Metera: Yep! Looks like my choice was right on the money once again!
Metera: You are my sister, after all, so no need to worry about the clothes distracting anyone from your looks!
Sutera: What?
Metera: Hey, shop lady! We'll take these outfits we're wearing!
Sutera: Metera, you don't have to buy anything for me!
Metera: Don't worry about it! You're always running after me, so just let me do something nice for you for once.
Sutera: But...
Metera: If it helps, just think of it as a late present, okay?
Sutera: Okay! Thank you!
Having finished their shopping, the two sisters leave the store in their new outfits and take a walk through town.
Sutera: Wow... I can't believe I'm wearing clothes you bought for me, Metera.
Metera: Sutera, watch out!
Metera saves Sutera just in time before she walks into a pillar.
Sutera: Huh? Oh, I'm so sorry!
Metera: Honestly, if something like this makes you this happy, then I've been a terrible older sister.
Sutera: Not at all! It's just that I'm seeing a side of you today that... um... I don't quite know how to say it...
Metera: It's fine! You've said enough already!
Metera casts a side-glance at Sutera.
Metera: You know... I'm getting a little tired. Maybe we should take a break.
Sutera: Yes, let's! I was just thinking the same thing!
Metera: Wonderful! Let's get some tea at that place over there.
The sisters head into a tea shop just off the main road.
They take a seat by the window, and a waiter comes to take their order.
Metera: Hmm... I think I'll have the herbal tea and cake.
Sutera: I'll have the same.
After a few minutes, their tea and cakes are brought out.
Outside, snow begins to gently fall.
Sutera: You know, it was a snowy evening just like this...
Sutera: You said you were going to try and catch whoever it was leaving presents by our beds.
Metera: Huh? I did?
Sutera: Yes... And your trap caught the culprit well enough.
Sutera: Hee-hee. I was so scared I called out for Father!
Metera: Wait, I think I'm starting to remember this...
Sutera: Who would have thought that the culprit was Father himself!
Metera: I actually knew all along that he was the one doing it.
Sutera: What! You knew?
Metera: It was obvious! But it was just too much fun to keep you guessing.
Sutera: Metera, how could you!
Metera: You've always been such an easy target.
Metera: You know, talking about this is bringing back all kinds of memories!
Sutera: Let's leave it at that! Some things are better left in the past!
Metera: You know you really are cute when you squirm like that.
Sutera: Ugh... Just forget what I said.
Sutera: In the end, you're just the same old Metera!
Metera and Sutera continue to reminisce about their childhood.
They look out the window at the beautiful winter scenery.
Their lively conversation echoes into the stillness of the night.
Eventually, they finish their herbal tea.
The sisters get up to leave.
Sutera: Oh, Metera, what about the bill?
Metera: Don't worry about that. I've already paid it.
Sutera: You didn't have to do that! First you buy me these clothes, and now you pay for the tea?
Metera: Don't be silly. It was my idea to come out today in the first place, so you don't have to worry about a thing!
Sutera: But...
Metera: Come on, just let me be your big sis for a day!
Metera ruffles Sutera's hair.
Sutera: Hee-hee. Okay, I give in!
Metera: Well then, I think it's time we head back.
Sutera: We should buy some souvenirs for (Captain) and the others!
Metera: All right, why not? After all, we were out for quite a while.
Metera: They deserve a reminder that we're both beautiful and thoughtful!
Metera and Sutera step out onto the streets once more.
Together they walk on, their footsteps gently engraved in the snow.
The crew is asked by the Jewel Resort to get rid of some animated snowmen. Metera's not interested, but Sutera wants to watch her fight and gets her to help. Sutera's respect for Metera only grows as she watches her sister defeat foe after foe. She takes on the snowmen that slip past Metera.
Some time has passed since the end-of-year festivities, and (Captain) and company are at the Jewel Resort for a job.
They are to dispose of some snowmen that had been magically animated for the recent celebration.
Metera: Brrr... So cold... And that means I'm heading back to the airship! See you!
Vyrn: Hey, slacker! Where do you think you're going? You haven't taken down a single snowman yet!
Metera: But it's cold, and this is such a pain... I'm sure you guys can handle a few snowmen without me!
Sutera: (Captain), I've found the snowmen!
Sutera: Metera, I'm counting on you to lead us through this!
Metera: I don't think so. I'm going back to the airship.
Sutera: What? But why? Oh! Are you not feeling well?
Sutera: Are you running a fever? Do you have a cough? We need to get you warmed up!
Metera: I don't have a cold!
Sutera: Oh... okay then. In that case, I'd really appreciate it if you could help us out.
Metera: Why? You and (Captain) should be able to handle a job like this on your own.
Sutera: It's an honor that you have so much faith in me, dear sister, but I still have a long way to go...
Sutera: In particular, I'm nowhere near your level in using my arcane bow.
Sutera: So I'd really like to watch you fight to get better!
Metera: Do you really need me to do this?
Sutera: Yes! I need you, Metera!
Sutera: Won't you please help me out?
Metera: All right, all right! If you want me to that badly, I'll do it!
Metera: Always with the puppy-dog eyes... You'd better not be doing that on purpose.
Sutera: You're the best, Metera! I'll do what I can to keep up!
Metera: Ugh, what a pain... Let's get those snowmen then.
With that, Metera leaps into the air and flies toward the snowmen.
(Captain) and the crew catch up to Metera and see that she has already felled several snowmen with her arcane arrows.
Sutera: Incredible! I can't summon arcane arrows nearly that quickly!
Sutera: Her speed must have to do with how well she handles her magic. And her aim is fearfully accurate too...
Sutera: It's probably arrogant of me to even imagine that I could imitate her.
Snowman: ...!
Lyria: Eek!
Sutera: Lyria, watch out! Get behind me!
Lyria: Okay!
Sutera: There are so many of them that some are slipping past even Metera. Let's mop up the stragglers!
The job is going well, but Metera lets her concentration slip and gets hit by a monster. Luckily she's only knocked unconscious. Sutera is furious and stands up to face her sister's assailant.
Metera: Phew... Looks like that was the last of 'em. How was that, Sutera? Good enough for you?
Sutera: ...
Metera: Sutera?
Sutera: Just... amazing! What more can I say? Has there ever been a fighting style quite like yours?
Sutera: You really live up to your legend. I've learned so much just by watching you. Thank you so much!
Metera: Oh. Well... As long as you're happy, I guess.
Sutera: I am! You're so much more impressive than I thought! That just means I have even further to go to reach your level!
Metera: Well... Try not to overdo it. You need to relax once in a while.
Sutera: You're right. Trying too hard can get in the way of actually learning something. I'll try my best to not try so hard!
Metera: That's not quite what I... Oh, whatever.
Metera: This is exactly why you've always been so hard for me to shake off, ever since we were little.
Vyrn: Wow... So even you can be nice when it comes to your sister.
Lyria: Hee-hee. That's just what sisters do, right? They look out for each other!
Snowman: ...!
Snowmen: ...!
Hailclops: Roar!
Metera: ...!
A gigantic icy monstrosity, the fearful result of multiple snowmen combining, unleashes a punch with terrifying speed.
The sudden attack catches Metera off guard and hits her at full force.
Sutera: Metera!
Sutera: Metera, are you all right? Metera!
Lyria: It's okay, it looks like she's just been knocked out! Thank goodness!
Sutera: Whew... But I still think she needs treatment as soon as possible.
Hailclops: Roar!
Sutera: You'll pay for attacking my sister! And I won't let you lay one icy finger on (Captain) or any of the others!
Sutera: I swear on my honor as a wielder of the arcane bow that I will bring you down!
Sutera: Here I come!
When Metera wakes up back at the airship, Sutera is overcome with relief and begins to cry. Metera teases her about overracting, but is also moved by her sister's concern.
After defeating Hailclops, Sutera, (Captain), and the rest of the crew take Metera back to the airship.
Metera: Ugh...
Sutera: Metera! Are you awake?
Metera: Sutera? W-Where am I?
Vyrn: You got blindsided by one of the monsters and blacked out!
Metera: Is that what happened? How... uncool of me.
Sutera: Sob...
Metera: Sutera? What's wrong?
Sutera: Metera! I'm so glad that you're all right!
Sutera: When... When you didn't wake up straight away, I thought... I thought...
Metera: Sigh... you didn't have to worry. You always overreact when things like this happen.
Metera: I may have been knocked out, but it would take a lot more than that to kill me.
Sutera: But...
Metera: I know, I know. You're a worrier, and there's nothing I can do about it.
Metera: You really are a good person, you know?
Sutera: Huh? Did you say something?
Metera: Nope! Phew, I'm famished! Sutera, go get me some snacks to munch on!
Sutera: Of course! I'll brew some tea as well!
Metera with her natural talent, and Sutera with her outstanding hard work.
Despite their opposite personalities, the two sisters share a close bond, and together they continue to move forward on their journey.
