Happy Birthday Cutscenes

1

So, well, um... I've got a present for you! Because it's your... birthday, right?
Here you go. I drew your portrait. There's Vyrn in the corner.
Wait, is that a fake smile? This is one of my best works, you know!

2

Today's your birthday? Ooh, I'm so sorry! I forgot all about it!
But here's a picture book I drew about you.
N-no, it's not my usual romance stuff. I tried to portray your heroic exploits!
I put everything I have into it. Why don't you take a look inside?
W-well?
No, that's not a monster, dear.
And no, that's not a primal beast, my love.
Wait... where did I go wrong?

3

H-hi there... Today's your birthday, right? I can't believe I just happened to remember!
So here's, um... my very favorite illustrated storybook...
A Beauty on the Battlefield, okay?
I just wanted to share its breathtaking detail with someone else. Or rather, I wanted to share it with you...
But be sure to give it back to me before the end of the week.
Huh? Of course I'm not giving it to you. You're only borrowing it, so don't dirty up the pages.

4

Happy birthday.
Don't you want to take center stage during your own birthday party? Hm, that's a bit of a shame.
Me? I'm getting my present for you ready.
It'll be a drawing this year. Not a storybook—just a single piece of art.
It's a picture of you in bliss, surrounded by everyone in the crew. The scenery before us inspired me.
I'll be done by the time the party's over. I'll show it to you then.
I want it to be a lovely reminder of the good times had today, so I need to focus.

5

It's already your birthday again, (Captain).
Here you go, your present. It's a picture of you doing your thing. Sorry there's only the one scene.
But I was thinking someday I would make a work chronicling the whole crew's adventures.
I'm not sure when I'll have time to get to it, but when I finish it, you'll be the first to read it, (Captain).
After all, you're the one that invited me on this journey.
I truly hope today turns out to be a wonderful birthday.
Oh, the picture book would of course be for all ages, so you don't have to look so taken aback!

Happy New Year Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Hm, not too sure about this one... Oh, happy New Year. I was just working on a rough sketch.
The kind young male character is set, but I'm stuck on whether to make his friend a suave gentleman or an older hooligan.
Oh, I know! A young man and a suave gentleman pair will work just fine! What am I fussing about?

2

Do you remember that romance comic I showed you last year? The one with the suave gentleman and the shy young man meeting at a New Year's party?
The story might've been a bit too forced. So now I'm trying to write something simpler.
Simple and romantic! Teehee, I can't wait to draw in all the juicy details tonight!

3

T-take a look... I tried writing out a New Year's wish. S-so what do you think?
Usually you write a wish using words...
But I decided to draw a picture instead. It's my first piece of art for the year!
Doing it all with just a brush and black ink is pretty hard though... It just seems unfinished without some color, you know?
But take a look right here. I added tiny bubbles in a pattern all over. When you look at it from afar, it looks shaded, right?
Hee hee! I've learned something new! But it's too early in the year to be getting these hand cramps...

4

Happy New Year.
I came up with a few drawings to use for greeting cards. Can you tell me which one you like best?
They all depict monsters engaging in fun activities like badminton, poker, kite-flying...
I tried drawing some normal animals too, but the monsters get a lot more attention. Must be a case of gap moe.
Hm? Romantic storybooks? Oh, there's no way I'd put that kind of art in New Year's greeting cards.
Besides, it'd be against the rules to push my interests on oth—
Ah...
Y-you saw?
Well, I had this really strong urge to portray romance, and I do have a few friends who'd be interested, so...
H-hey, stop looking at me like that!
These aren't meant for the average person, so I just let my creative juices run wild!

5

Happy New Year, (Captain). Are you heading out somewhere?
Oh, first visit to a shrine? I see...
I'm here to meet up with the other members of CtK4Life. We said we'd meet up to hang out for the new year.
Huh? You'll join us? Oh, after you come back?
So I should join you first? You're inviting me to the shrine? Well, that doesn't sound bad, but...
S-stop! Don't push me! It's cold outside! I miss the kotatsu already!

Valentine's Day Cutscenes

1

Ah... Well...
There's something I want to give you! It's chocolate...
But don't take it the wrong way! It's just leftovers from the offering to my evil eye.
Oh, what am I saying... Just give me back the chocolate! Let's pretend this never happened!

2

Captain, thanks for having me on your crew. Here's some Valentine's chocolate.
Well, I'm off then.
Huh, I seem more relaxed than last year? That's... well...
Hey, don't say stuff that's not in the script! Great, now we're all weirded out!
Okay, from the start again! Here's some Valentine's chocolate!

3

Lunalu mumbles to herself as she stands before a mirror.
S-so... I made you some chocolates... If it's all right, th-then...
Here's some chocolate! But don't get any ideas about it! It's not like I made them for you or anything!
I offer my thanks to you. Please partake of these chocolates.
Ahhh... What should I do?
How can I do this without getting so nervous? If only it felt more natural...
Whoa!
W-were you watching me? Were you watching me the whole time?
Lunalu is flustered as she throws a box of chocolates in (Captain)'s direction and speeds past the captain.

4

Happy Valentine's.
H-here you go. Please be sure to look through it.
You can't tell what it is? It's a script.
I realized that maybe you get so nervous on this day every year because you have trouble thinking of what to say.
So I prepared lines for you and me this time.
J-just make sure you put some emotion into it. Okay... I'll start.
Hm... Isn't today supposed to be some sort of holiday?
...
Gah! You're supposed to respond with, "Ooh, playing hard to get, are we?"
It's too embarrassing to actually say?
No way! Which part?

5

Happy Valentine's Day. Here, it's a script. It's pretty short, so do you think you could look through it now?
Last year you said it was pretty embarrassing to read aloud, so this year I tried to make it more natural.
Normally I prefer more romance in my lines, but I had to take your tastes into consideration too.
Finished reading? Just like the script says, I'll start by giving you cho... choco... Huh?
Agh! The cho-cho-chocolate!
I was so busy making the script, I forgot the chocolate!
Eh-heh, so (Captain), look over that script one more time, and let's try for real tonight!
I've got an important, uh, meeting right now, so, um, bye!

1

What? A present? For me? No way. You have feelings... for me?
Ooh... What do I do? I can't believe this is happening in real life...
Oh, this just won't do! I've pledged my love to Prince Popol! I'm sorry but I can't accept this gift!

2

Ugh, what's this for?
I told you the same thing last year, but I'm already taken. My heart's with Popol. I can't accept this.
It's time for you to wake up and smell the coffee! We can't keep going on like this!
Stop toying with my emotions!

3

I-I can't believe you... I can't believe you got me a gift again this year...
Tell me! Is toying with me that fun to you?
It's true that Popol is out of my reach...
No, rather he's someone I shouldn't even reach for. The fate of his dramatic saga has already been decided.
But even so...
I need you to understand already! I can't accept your gift! I just can't!
The gift is just to show your gratitude? I won't fall for that excuse!
I'm sorry, but goodbye!

4

Hm...
Eep!
H-hello. Were you looking for me?
No, not really?
You're kidding... Surely there must be something you can't wait to give me...
For example... Something related to today's date...
That's right! It's White Day! So you do know!
I refuse your gift every year anyway, so you thought I didn't need the chocolates?
Except I do need them!
It's true I already have Popol, so I can't accept, but...
That's not the point!

5

Thank you, (Captain)! I'm glad you enjoyed your Valentine's gift enough to get me something in return!
Actually I was a little anxious that you wouldn't get me anything this year. Ugh, sorry, this is just embarrassing...
Huh? What's wrong? Wait, what's going on?
Oh, not at all. I just thought about how I've accepted your gifts every year, so I thought I would play the innocent girl this time.
Hey, don't look so surprised!
Sigh... Everyone on this ship knows what I'm really like, so maybe it's too late.
Then again... Knowing full well who I am, you still got me a present, (Captain). Maybe you're just as weird as me.

Trick or Treat Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Bah, why is everyone asking me to draw them something?
They'll be using my illustrations to trick-or-treat. But they're just ordinary drawings...

2

Hm, you're here to place an order too? Sorry, had you mixed up with the customers.
For some reason, this costume I drew last year has blown up, and everyone's been asking for the real thing.
This year, even people outside the crew are asking for it. Who's this Drang person though?

3

Lunalu mumbles to herself as she stands before a mirror.
Luna-Luna-Lunalu! Witch Girl Lunalu has arrived! Now, trick or treat!
Heh-heh, as if... It's so silly that it's not even laughable.
I'm much to old to get treats...
Yikes! Were you here the whole time?
Forget it! Erase it from your memory this instant!

4

Happy Halloween. Hehe... You're not getting away.
One way or another, I'm gonna dress you up in one of my specially-prepared Halloween costumes!
Let's see... Which one would be more embarrassing to strut about with? The frilly costume or the skimpy costume?
Consider this punishment for laying eyes on my forbidden dress last year...
Do you have any idea how humiliating it was?
Now prepare yourself!
Huh? You're wondering where my Witch Girl Lunalu costume is?
I-I don't keep it around, okay?

5

Well hello, (Captain). You've arrived right at the hour I asked you to on the Halloween party RSVP card.
But I've got some bad news. In truth, the party happening tonight will be between just the two of us.
Hehe, you know what's happening don't you? Why else would I send you an invitation to a fake party?
That's right! This year will be the year I make you wear a frilly Halloween costume, come hell or high water!
There's nowhere to run! That door won't open. Not until you don this lovely outfit, that is.
Hehe. I hope you enjoy this trick as much as I'm going to.
I almost forgot! For the rest of the night, your name is Witch Girl! Now, resign yourself to your fate and slip into this ensemble!
Lunalu, charged with frenetic passion, leaps at (Captain) with the frilly costume in hand.

Happy Holidays Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Sorry to tell you, but today's festivities aren't really my thing.
I've gotta get back to drawing anyway...
My next work? I'll let you in on a few details.
It's a story about Santa's mischievous son who befriends a fragile, sickly young man. I'm drawing the chimney scene now...

2

Ah, the holiday season always reminds me of my childhood. Especially the year I came to love all things romantic.
My parents bought me a book on anatomy, and certain drawings in it really grabbed my attention.
My parents got the wrong idea and thought I wanted to be a doctor or something. I felt so guilty seeing their excitement.
Oh look, it's snowing!

3

The scenery is so pretty... Bright little snowflakes falling gently through the air...
Tonight the sky is overflowing with love, don't you think? The weather is chilly, but the day is filled with warm hearts...
I bet that fancy guy is saying I made dinner reservations just for you today...
And the young guy says I'm not dressed for such a nice place...
Then the fancy guy says Don't fret. No one's stopping us...
Ahhh... How sweet!

4

(Captain), do you happen to be free right now?
I was just thinking of taking a walk around town on this festive night for some creative inspiration.
I thought of going alone at first, given how busy everyone is and that I'd simply be drawing sketches.
But there's so much going on out there that I'm not sure I can handle it alone.
So please... If you can just accompany me...

5

I figured the streets would be awash with couples.
(Captain), I have to apologize. Sorry to make you come with me to buy art supplies on this festive day.
Oh, but this mood is almost too much to bear. Makes me so tired... Maybe I'll just take a nice little nap, yawn...
...! W-wait! Look over there! Two young men walking side by side!
Are they friends? Coworkers? But they're only carrying one cake box. Judging by the size, it should contain two individual slices!
C-c-could it b-be! A co-cou-couple? Did they just finish picking out presents for each other... To-together?
We need to leave now, (Captain)! Suddenly I'm overcome with inspiration! I have to get to work on my next piece!

The Crybaby and the Butler

(Captain) and crew become acquainted with the monster artist Lunalu through an assignment. Upon discovering that her true passion lies in romantic art, they welcome her into the crew so that she can further her studies.

Monster: Grargh!
Vyrn: Whoa! It went that way, Lyria!
Lyria: I've got it! Umm, just need some more bait...
Vyrn: Hey! Hurry up, or it'll get away!
Lyria: It's getting away? Oh no! We're out of bait!
Monster: Graaargh!
Vyrn: Aw heck... Lunalu, haven't you finished drawing yet?
Lunalu: Not yet.
Lyria: Ahh! Please don't run away yet!
It all began a few hours earlier when the crew visited Sierokarte for the lowdown on an assignment.
Sierokarte: I have an assignment for you! A friend of mine runs a company that publishes the most up-to-date illustrated monster guides.
Sierokarte: And they would like to have you assist the artist responsible for the monster drawings.
Vyrn: No problem! But what can we do to help?
Sierokarte: Your job will be to make sure she can comfortably observe and sketch the monster.
Lyria: She? So it's a girl?
Sierokarte: Indeed, her name is Lunalu. She's made quite a name for herself as a monster artist.
Sierokarte: Her pictures are said to be so vivid, they could jump right out from the page!
Sierokarte: Well then, I'll leave it for you to handle!
Having completed the assignment, the crew rests awhile in Lunalu's home nearby.
Lyria: Phew, that was harder than I expected. I'm glad you managed to get the picture though!
Lunalu: It's not finished yet. Now I need to do the coloring.
Lyria: Huh? Now? Shouldn't you get some rest first?
Lunalu: I want to finish right away, while the monster is still fresh in my mind.
Lyria: Whoa... such enthusiasm for your art! That's cool!
Lunalu: It's not that. I'm just trying to do my job efficiently. It has nothing to do with inspiration or anything.
Lyria: Oh, umm... I guess that makes sense.
Vyrn: Aagh!
Lyria: V-Vyrn? The scream came from that room!
Lunalu: My workroom? What's he doing in my workroom!
Lyria: A-are you all right? What in the skies happened...
Vyrn: I can't believe it... There's so many paintings!
Lyria: Huh? Well, she is an artist after all...
Lyria: Eek! There's so many naked men!
Vyrn: And look! This is even stranger! I didn't expect this from Lunalu—
Lunalu: So you saw...
Lyria: Ahh! L-Lunalu?
Lunalu: It's err... It's normal practice for artists to draw basic human bodies.
Lunalu: Now would you please leave? I'd hate for anything to get broken...
Vyrn: Get away from her, Lyria! She can't be normal with all these paintings of men killing each other!
Lunalu: What? No, it's not like that! They're just... hugging.
Lyria: Huh? Hugging?
Lunalu: Yes! Oh, this is so embarrassing.
Vyrn: Umm, so you're not dangerous?
Lunalu: Guhh, of course not.
Lunalu: Right now, I'm only known for drawing monsters. But I really want to be recognized for romantic art.
Lyria: Err... romantic art?
Lunalu: ...
Lunalu: Knights in shining armor... princes from far-off lands... Don't you ever dream about such things?
Lunalu: Personal fantasies like that are captured very well in illustrated storybooks.
Lunalu: But as for what I'd want to create... I guess you'd call them romantic storybooks.
Vyrn: Romantic storybooks. How, uh... interesting.
Lunalu: Think what you want. I won't bother debating it.
Lyria: Hm, I've never seen anything like this before. Is it sold in shops?
Lunalu: No, it's more like a hobby of mine. I make each one personally and have nearby bookstores sell them for me.
Lunalu: But I haven't sold a single one yet.
Vyrn: Can't say I'm surprised. I imagine romantic drawings to be pretty, but yours are all scary.
Lunalu: It's just a habit of mine! My illustrative style and hobbies don't match!
Lunalu: But I get it... I know it's hopeless...
Lyria: That's...
Lunalu: Well, maybe I'm better off just drawing monsters for the rest of my life...
Vyrn: Hey, don't get so beat up about it. There must be some way you could improve?
Lunalu: The best way to improve is to copy something else, preferably something of top quality.
Lunalu: But around here, works of great romantic beauty are hard to come by, so I've struggled to even get a hold of anything.
Lyria: Hm, what might there be for you to study from then?
Lyria: I know! Why don't you travel with us? I'm sure you could find all sorts of storybooks!
Lunalu: Huh? W-with all of you? Is that really okay?
  1. Sure it's okay!
  2. Let's see if you improve.

Choose: Sure it's okay!
Lunalu: Th-thank you. You sure are a strange bunch...

Choose: Let's see if you improve.
Lunalu: Really? Well, I'd have to think about it...
Continue 1
Vyrn: Heheh, though maybe you shouldn't show your work to the rest of the crew. We wouldn't want them getting too excited.
Lunalu: Amazing... To think that I'll have the chance to gather all kinds of romantic objects...
Lunalu: Is this a dream? If it is, I hope I don't wake up.
Lunalu: All right! Ah, my sealed evil eye just started throbbing!
Lyria: Are you okay? If your eye hurts, should we take you to a doctor?
Lunalu: Ah, no, it's fine. I just have a little dry eye is all.
And so, Lunalu joins the crew in order to gather and study romantic works of art.
During Lunalu's journey to master her craft, her imagination extends farther than the vast skies.

A Beauty on the Battlefield

The crew visits a book market, where Lunalu's eyes light up after discovering a book by an artist she admires. Vyrn suggests that they find the artist to ask for tips to improve Lunalu's craft.

The crew stops by an island that happens to have a book market. Lunalu excitedly paces around searching for romantic art books.
Vyrn: Hey, hey! Are you sure this is a guy? I mean, look at those eyelashes!
Lunalu: I'm sure. (Whoa, the finish on this piece is incredible!)
Lyria: Look at this one! It seems really popular!
Lunalu: It sure is. (This one's about Prince Popol! Perfect!)
Vyrn: Heheh. Isn't this great, Lunalu? There's so much more than I thought there'd be!
Lunalu: Indeed. I feel like I could live here. (It's like a treasure trove! Heehee!)
Lunalu: Although...
Lyria: What's wrong? Don't you have enough stuff to start your studies?
Lunalu: Ah, no. That's not it.
Lunalu: All of this stuff is so good, I'm feeling less confident than ever.
Vyrn: Hey, don't give up just yet! You're becoming a romantic artist at the end of all this!
Lunalu: I-I know! It's just that the difference in quality is so high...
Lunalu: Whoa! Th-that's...
Shop Assistant: Welcome! That's the last copy we have in stock. It's supposed to be super rare.
Lunalu: I knew it! It's A Beauty on the Battlefield!
Lyria: Um, have you read it before?
Lunalu: Ah, what fate... This is the very book that awoke me to the world of romantic art!
Lunalu: How many years has it been... I suppose it made the rounds among other collectors and ended up on my island by chance.
Lunalu: Reading it was a dream. The people seemed to shine through the pages.
Lunalu: But when my parents found it, they confiscated it...
Vyrn: I see... Hey! I've got an idea!
Vyrn: Hey, mister! Do you know if the person who drew this lives on the island?
Shop Assistant: Yes, I believe so. He hasn't brought in any new works lately though.
Vyrn: All right! Let's go ask if he'll help you improve!
Lunalu: R-really? But what about our own journey? I'd hate to be any trouble.
Lyria: Oh, it's fine!
Don't you want to meet him?
Lunalu: Y-yeah... Definitely. Chances like this don't come often...
Lunalu: Okay, let's go pay this artist a visit!

A Beauty on the Battlefield: Scene 2

The crew visits the artist's house, only to be told by a rugged man that the artist has already moved. Just as Lunalu turns away dejectedly, they hear a woman scream nearby.

(Captain) and crew fend off monsters while heading toward the artist's house. Finally they are standing before its door.
Lunalu: Um, is it really okay to just show up like this?
Lunalu: Though this would be the first time for me to meet a fellow artist... What if we really hit it off?
Lunalu: Maybe even become friends?
Lunalu: No, no, no. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Lunalu.
Vyrn: Wait, is someone coming?
Lunalu: Eek!
Rugged Man: Wh-what are all of you doing here? What do you want?
Vyrn: Huh? Oh, umm, we...
Lyria: Err, this isn't how I imagined the artist Lunalu mentioned...
Lunalu: ...
Rugged Man: Tch, state your business or scram!
Vyrn: We're looking for an artist's house. We heard it was here, but...
Rugged Man: Oh? Yeah, I've heard the same. I think he moved a long time ago though.
Lyria: Oh... Do you happen to know where he went?
Rugged Man: No idea. Now if you don't mind, I have work to get back to.
Lunalu: Ah, sorry to bother you. Thanks anyway.
Lyria: Aww, I'm sorry, Lunalu...
Lunalu: Sigh... I was starting to think it was all going too well anyway.
Woman's Voice: Aaah!
Vyrn: Whoa! What the heck was that?
Rugged Man: Oh no... That was my wife! Did she run into a monster?
Lyria: C'mon, (Captain)! We have to help them!

A Beauty on the Battlefield: Scene 3

The rugged man thanks the crew for saving the woman, who turned out to be his wife. He reveals himself as the artist Lunalu has been searching for and offers to teach her everything he knows.

The crew defeats the monster, saving the rugged man's wife. He escorts (Captain) and company to his home.
Wife: Thank you so much. If you all weren't here, I'd...
Lunalu: Don't mention it. Saving you was my destiny, hehe.
Rugged Man: Wha... I know that quote...
Lunalu: Well then, we'll be on our way. Time to go, everyone.
Rugged Man: ...
Rugged Man: Hey, wait! The artist you're searching for... is me...
Lunalu: Ah! You're the author of A Beauty on the Battlefield!
Vyrn: No way! This guy's the great romance artist?
Lyria: Umm... so why didn't you say anything before?
Rugged Man: Apologies for that... A long time ago, I hid my artistic works from my wife. But she found out one day.
Rugged Man: That day I hung up my brush for good. I was embarrassed—these were not things a good husband should be making.
Lunalu: So that's what happened...
Lunalu: ...
Lunalu: I know the feeling. My parents got angry at me before for drawing this kind of stuff.
Lunalu: But I just want you to know: your art saved me; it gave me new life.
Rugged Man: Huh?
Lunalu: I wasn't very good at studying or sports or anything... I was rebellious and... didn't really enjoy life.
Lunalu: That's when I found your book. For the first time I felt like I had a dream, a purpose...
Lunalu: I might still be a long way off, but... I want to become a fantastic artist like you were.
Lunalu: That's why I really wanted to say... thank you so much.
Rugged Man: That's... I had no idea... So you're a romantic artist too?
Vyrn: Yeah, that's right! We came to see if you had any tips to improve her storybooks...
Lyria: We did, but understanding your situation now—
Wife: I'm so sorry! I was wrong the whole time!
Rugged Man: Huh? Oh, umm...
Wife: I mean, I... I know your art is a little unusual, but I never imagined it could have such a positive effect on people...
Lunalu: Th-then—
Wife: Please create whatever art you want, dearie. Don't worry about what others might say! You will always have my support from now on!
Rugged Man: Th-thank you... I can't believe this! I don't deserve you, honey!
Rugged Man: I owe all of you my thanks too. Tricks to improve? If you want, I'll teach you everything I know!
Lunalu: R-really? I'm not dreaming? Thank you so much!
Vyrn: Hooray! Maybe now your stuff won't be so scary!
Lyria: Heehee, isn't this great, Lunalu!
Lunalu: My... My evil eye is...
Lunalu seizes the invaluable opportunity to grow as an artist.
With his help her art improves drastically, and she continues travelling with the crew to further hone her craft.

Unbridled Fantasies

Lunalu grows frustrated when she fails to perfectly capture Siegfried's sublime form in a piece of art. But with his words of encouragement, Lunalu quickly regains confidence and completes what she considers to be her magnum opus.

One day Lunalu sets her heart on capturing the form of a certain man.
Siegfried: I hope to make myself useful on the crew, (Captain).
Lyria: Yay! It's a pleasure to have you, Siegfried! I feel like things will go by so much more smoothly with you around!
(Captain) and company welcome Siegfried into the crew.
Unbeknownst to all a shadowy figure watches from a distance.
Lunalu: (Eep! I, I can't believe my eyes! My knight in shining armor is standing right there!)
Lunalu: (A dignified knight keeping an enigmatical air of mystery by veiling his face underneath that decadent armor!)
Lunalu: (Teehee... What mysteries that helmet could be concealing!)
Lunalu: (Pant... Wheeze... I... Aagh, this is too much! I can't stop fantasizing about the possibilities! Hey, get back to your senses, Lunalu!)
Siegfried: You there. In the shadows.
Lunalu: Eek! I've been spotted!
Vyrn: Hm, you see something there? Wait, Lunalu? Whatcha doing out here?
Lunalu: I... I was just looking for my chance to enter the conversation.
Lyria: I guess I should introduce you! This here is Lunalu and she does fantastic artwork!
Vyrn: Yeah, she totally knocks it out of the park when it comes to monster drawings! But I heard she actually prefers romance nov—
Lunalu: Ack! Aiiee! Eeep!
No! Stop right there!
Vyrn: Whoa! No need to scream, is there?
Lunalu: No means no! Say another word and I'll never forgive you!
Siegfried: Sigh... Your crew's as lively as ever, (Captain).
  1. Does that bother you?
  2. That's what makes it so fun!

Choose: Does that bother you?
Siegfried: Not at all. On the contrary seeing how much fun everyone's having only shows what a great captain you are.

Choose: That's what makes it so fun!
Siegfried: Haha, I figured you'd say that. Everyone I've met on the crew before joining up shares that same look of contentment on their faces.

Lunalu: (Aah... The sharp contrast his soft-spoken voice makes against the stark edges of his armor! He may hide his face, but I can almost sense the oh-so tender smile lying within!)
Vyrn: Hey, hey, Lunalu! What's with the staring?
Lunalu: Ah! No, it's nothing...
Lunalu: (And revelation strikes! My mind seethes with visions of him in every pose conceivable! I must capture his magnificent form while my imagination is running wild!)
Lunalu clenches her fists in determination.
Lunalu: (My chance is now! I will not let such rare perfection idly slip past me!)
Siegfried: Is everything okay? Something stuck to my face?
Lunalu: Er, umm... If you don't mind, I'd be so happy if you could please pose for my drawing!
Lunalu: I can draw monsters pretty well, but when it comes to people, I tend to stumble a lot...
Lunalu: And when I saw you, that's when it hit! You embody the perfect bodily form that I've always wanted to capture on my canvas!
Siegfried: Hm, I see where you're coming from now. Though I'm sorry to say I don't think I'd be of much help.
Siegfried: I believe there are many aboard the ship who would better serve your artistic needs.
Lunalu: No, it must be you! Please! If you will give me permission to sketch your form from even a distance away, that would be more than enough!
Faced with such a desperate Lunalu, Siegfried pauses for a moment of contemplation.
Siegfried: ...
Very well, it'd be rather boorish of me to turn down such an earnest request, so do what you must.
Lunalu: Ah! Thank you so much!
With Siegfried's approval at last, Lunalu begins observing him from the shadows the day after.
She tightly grips her well-worn sketchbook and brush pen, intent to capture every fine detail of Siegfried.
Lyria: Oh, Siegfried! We're heading out to deal with some monsters soon. Would you like to come along?
Siegfried: Sure, count me in. I'll help you with your training on the way there, (Captain).
Vyrn: Hehe, lucky you, (Captain)! You were always talking about how you'd love to train with Siegfried!
Lyria: Yeah! Seeing (Captain) happy makes me happy too!
Lunalu: (Ah! Could it be that Siegfried knew (Captain) was hesitating and stepped up to make the offer himself?)
Lunalu: (If that's true, it's not fair! But, oh, the gentle compassion he exudes is quite something to behold!)
Lunalu furiously sketches away as she stares at (Captain) and company with wide-open eyes.
Vyrn: Hey, Lyria...
Lyria: Shh! No, Vyrn! We shouldn't disrupt Lunalu when she's so focused!
Vyrn: I know, but...
The way Lunalu nods, giggles, and exaggeratedly stretches out her arms toward the skies at Siegfried's every little gesture makes her look alarmingly suspicious.
Other crew members watch Lunalu with apprehension, but she pays no heed to them and continues her fine brush strokes.
Although at first weary of the frequent and curious glances being cast at him, Siegfried quickly becomes accustomed to it.
Ecstatic at Siegfried having let down his guard, Lunalu writhes in glorious excitement.
Lyria: Teehee, Lunalu, you seem to be having so much fun lately. I hope your sketch is coming along all right.
Lunalu: I suppose you could say I've never drawn anything this satisfying.
Lunalu: What's more, I've become much better at drawing things off the top of my head without an actual model in front of me.
Lunalu: I have to say, I've never improved this fast!
Vyrn: Glad to hear it! Still have to admit I'm a bit creeped out by how you follow Siegfried from the shadows his every waking moment though...
Lunalu: Hey, who are you calling creepy? I prefer the term enthusiastic!
Hm?
Lunalu looks out the window to see heavy drops of water pelting against the glass pane.
Lyria jumps to her feet at the sudden torrential rains.
Lyria: Oh no! (Captain) and Siegfried are training on deck right now!
Lunalu: The two of them deadlocked in battle while drenched in the rain... I must capture this moment for eternity's sake!
Vyrn: Oi! Lunalu! You're gonna be soaking wet if you—
Lunalu: Uwaagh!
Siegfried: Forgive me. Are you okay?
Lunalu: Ngh... It was just a little bump, so I'll be fine—Eek!
Siegfried: Are you hurt anywhere? Do let me know.
Lunalu: Ah, erm, your head... I mean... your face...
Lunalu: (What treachery is this! To hide those stunningly good looks behind that helmet... Oh! Inspiration is striking!)
Siegfried: Hm? Oh, this? (Captain) suggested I take off my helmet when I'm on the Grandcypher.
Siegfried: So I decided to try it out for a day. Does something seem off about me?
Lunalu: Oh no, I'm just... a bit surprised. (Yiiee! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much, (Captain)!)
Lyria: Umm, why don't you two get changed? Wouldn't want to catch a cold now.
Lunalu: H-huh? (I can envision majestic, bulging pecs and finely chiseled abs hidden under unassuming armor... Uugh! Agh! Yes!)
Lyria: Eeek! What's wrong, Lunalu?
Lunalu: Am I dreaming? Aha... Ahaha... Of course... I have to be...
Lyria: Yikes! Lunalu, pull yourself together!
Lunalu: Mm... Mmrgh... Hm? Where am I?
Lunalu: Aah, right. I was so excited about Siegfried getting changed and then...
Lunalu looks around the room and finally comes to grips with the situation.
Lunalu: Teehee, I got to see his heavenly face up close! Agh, I can die happy now! I've never seen anything more perfect!
Lunalu: Oh, can't be fantasizing all day long! I'd better sketch out this memory while it's still fresh in my mind!
Lunalu grabs her brush pen and tries to capture the vivid image in her mind, but her hand immediately falls still.
Lunalu: Hm, this doesn't look right.
Lunalu: Manly yet delicate, equal parts gruff and gentleman...
Lunalu: Scribble, scribble... Guah! This isn't working! I can't get it down on paper!
Lunalu: Scribble, scribble... Argh! No! I want to recreate that miraculous form, but this is utterly devoid of the heavenly aura the man in the flesh exudes!
Lunalu frantically moves from one sketch to another, scrapping her work in each iteration. After the umpteenth time, she listlessly drops the brush pen.
Lunalu: Sigh... Artistic compositions and expressions come to me so naturally, so why do I feel like a fish out of water here?
Devoid of any strength, Lunalu crumbles to the ground and scatters her sketches all over the room when a single one catches her eye.
It was an imaginary recreation of Siegfried's face up close that she managed to whip up the other day.
Lunalu: Humph, what's with this? The real thing is so much closer to perfection.
Lunalu: I can't believe I drew this—it's awful.
Lunalu lets out a dreary laugh as she gazes at each of the sketches spread all over the floor.
Lunalu: So many wild fantasies bursting through my mind, yet I'm an epic failure when it comes to getting them down on paper. Sigh...
Lunalu: I'm sure it's the same with monsters... I mean, I see that as work more than a passion project...
Lunalu: So I never really tried to portray the hidden beauty lying in them.
Lunalu: Aah... I fail hard as a romance artist, and I'd hardly qualify as a monster artist...
Though overtaken by a negative spiral of emotion, Lunalu musters up just enough strength to grab her brush pen.
Vyrn: Oi, Lunalu! Everything okay now?
Siegfried: I'm coming in.
Lunalu: Uwaagh! Oh, yes! Please come in!
Siegfried: Hm, are you all better now? We were all so worried when you suddenly collapsed.
Lunalu: Oh yeah, I feel great now! Couldn't be better in fact! For sure! Definitely!
Lyria: Thank goodness! This might sound surprising, but I've never seen Siegfried more worried.
Lunalu: Huh?
B-but why?
Siegfried: Even the smallest of injuries can be devastating if left untreated.
Lunalu: Oh, I'm so sorry for making you worry!
Vyrn: Hey, what's this?
Whoa! Lyria, come take a look!
Lyria: Vyrn! It's not nice to fish around in Lunalu's belongings!
Oh my...
Vyrn: This is amazing! Hey, hey, Siegfried! You're the star in every one of these drawings!
Lunalu: Eek! S-stop that! No!
Siegfried: Ooh, color me surprised. I can tell you really have a flair for the creative, Lunalu.
Lunalu: Ah... Ugh... I'm... not really that good.
Siegfried: Why do you say that? These look spectacular to me.
Lunalu: But they're far from perfect. It doesn't matter how much time I spend drawing—perfection is always miles ahead of me. I'm just hopeless...
Lunalu: In fact the more I draw and compare my art to reality, I realize that I fail even as a monster artist...
Lunalu: I can't help but wonder: why am I even drawing things in the first place?
Vyrn: You're too hard on yourself, Lunalu! I think everyone would agree that your monster drawings are absolutely breathtaking!
Lyria: Of course! And your drawings of Siegfried are just as good!
Vyrn: No argument there! To be honest I was at first a bit creeped out by how you were following Siegfried everywhere... but now I see that it was all for the sake of good art!
Lyria: So please don't call yourself a failure! The world would be a much sadder place without your wonderful art, Lunalu!
Lunalu: But... But no matter how hard I try, perfection is never within my grasp!
Lunalu: It doesn't matter how much effort I put into polishing my artistic skills! I lack the creative instinct to truly express myself, and that's what matters most!
Siegfried: Hmm... It's never smooth sailing for someone starting out. I learned that the hard way with the sword, and I imagine it's no different with a brush.
Siegfried: But no matter how hard the going gets, no matter how far away you are from utter perfection, and no matter how much you have to endure...
Siegfried: I guarantee you that all the blood, sweat, and tears you've put in so far have not gone to waste. I hope you can at least believe that much.
Lunalu: Oh! (Where have I heard this before...)
Lunalu: (Ah yes, it's all coming back now... Chapter two of Popol Saga! This is one of the most quoted lines!)
Lunalu: (Mikhail is able to keep trying and get past his slump thanks to these words of encouragement from Popol.)
Lunalu: (That's right, Lunalu! You're no different from Mikhail right now! You're the budding flower just waiting to blossom into a genius!)
Lunalu: Erm, thank you! You've just helped me remember something very important!
Lunalu: Perfection has never been within my grasp! What really matters is seeing things through to the end!
Lunalu: I won't give up! I think I can faithfully put onto paper the scenery in my head now!
Siegfried: Seems like you just blew past a bad spell.
Lunalu: That's right! (Captain), I need some time alone in my room; can you keep people from coming in for a while?
Lyria: Wow, what's with the sudden change of heart, Lunalu?
Lunalu: I want the way I feel this very moment, the imagery in my mind, to last forever in a picture-perfect drawing!
Vyrn: We'll do what we can to help! Right, (Captain)?
Surprised at the level of passion and enthusiasm coming from the usually nonchalant Lunalu, (Captain) nods deeply.
Lunalu retreats to her room to complete the drawing.
Lyria later makes a few visits to bring Lunalu food, but the door never opens.
A few days later.
Lyria: Hmm, I hope Lunalu's okay... I don't think she's been eating much.
Siegfried: But she is responding when you knock, right? That's a sure sign she's okay.
Vyrn: Still has me worried though...
Lunalu: Teeheehee... At long last... I've done it!
Lyria: Eeep!
Vyrn: Hyuugh!
Phew, it's just Lunalu! Hey, don't scare us like that!
Lunalu, who spent the past few days cooped up in her room, appears ghastly pale.
Her lack of sleep is evident in the dark shadows that have formed below her eyes, and her fingertips are stained with ink.
Exhausted she may be, but the expression on her face is one of ineffable joy as she gloats of her extraordinary accomplishment.
Lunalu: Mwahaha... Feast your eyes on my masterpiece... I've captured the moment so perfectly...
Vyrn: Ooh, lemme see...
By my apple!
Lyria: W-wow! This is incredible! Take a look at this, Siegfried!
Siegfried: Mhm... The pose is completely different from what I saw a few days ago. I can tell you really poured your heart and soul into it.
The portrait of Siegfried that Lunalu presented to the crew was a huge departure from all her previous sketches of the dashing knight.
Lunalu: This is the first time I've ever drawn anything so close to what I have in mind. This is to me a true work of art.
Vyrn: Yeah, I don't think I've ever been so blown away by a piece of artwork. I'm not so sure the real Siegfried looks that shiny though.
Lyria: You think so? But Siegfried looks sooo cool in it! I'm almost getting butterflies in my stomach just looking at it!
Lunalu: Erm, I want you to have this...
Siegfried: For me?
Lunalu: I was on the brink of giving up my dream. But you made me realize what's really important, so... This is just to say thanks. Sorry if it's a bother...
Siegfried: Haha, you're merely reaping the fruits of your labor, Lunalu. And a gift from you being a bother? Never! I might even hang this on my wall!
Lunalu: Ah... Aah...
Lunalu: Teehee... I, I got to see your precious smile... Aaah! Thank you so—
Lyria: Yikes! Lunalu fainted again!
Vyrn: Oh boy, is she gonna be alright? Hm, looks like she just fell into a nap. Let's leave her be for now.
Siegfried: Right, she definitely needs the rest. I'll carry her to her room.
Vyrn: Sure. I've gotta say though: I don't think I've ever seen anyone sleep with a grin that big on their face.
All it took for Lunalu to turn bright red and suddenly collapse was a brief flash of Siegfried's tender smile.
Lunalu keeps on her gigantic grin throughout the night as her mind drifts to the land of dreams.
