1

Happy birthday!
Today's the anniversary of the day you came into this world. Here's to you! Let's celebrate.

2

Today's your birthday? Allow me to offer a word of congratulations.
What have you gained from this past year of skyfaring?
There's no joy greater than to find something that's yours in these grand skies of ours.

3

Happy birthday. Today is a critical juncture in your life.
But the pressures of pushing yourself everyday tends to build up.
You needn't worry so much about that. In my eyes, I can see that you have made great progress.
Just know that I will be at your side to witness your continued growth from here on.

4

Happy birthday.
Did things go as planned for you this year?
It's certainly not easy to accomplish the goals you've set for yourself and continue down the path you believe in.
But don't you think it would be grand to have no regrets when you look back on your life?
That's why I believe it's important to lead a life you can take pride in. While finding time to relax along the way, of course.
I have faith that you are fully capable of such a feat. I wish you a productive year.

5

Why are you surprised by this large cake?
Hehe, don't be silly. It's your birthday!
I specially ordered this cake specifically for today.
The fruit arrangement has a tasty glaze drizzled over it, and you can see the detailed work that went into the icing.
There's no finer cake, if I do say so myself. Hehe, I can't wait to see your face light up when you take a bite.
Oops. But I haven't said the most important thing of all yet.
Happy birthday, (Captain)!
I also went out and got you a present.
I'll give it to you at the party. Just another fun thing to look forward to.

Happy New Year Cutscenes

1

Happy New Year.
Time to write your New Year's resolutions! If you don't get started now, you'll never get around to it.
C'mon, let's get this year started.

2

A new year. Might as well get started working towards our goals this year, too.
What matters most is remaining resolute and determined no matter what happens.
Focus on the future, and growth will come naturally.
With that being said, I hope you'll grant me the honor of observing your progress this year!

3

Hehe. Can you see it, (Captain)?
It may appear like any other sunrise, but the first dawn of the new year has a certain gravity to it.
If you make your resolutions before today's sun, the days that come after are sure to expand your horizons.
And I can't rest on my laurels either. I shall join you in expanding my capacities.
That is all. I look forward to great things from you, (Captain).

4

Happy New Year.
Were you able to keep your resolution for the previous year?
It's no simple feat to hold fast to a single goal throughout the entire year.
Recognizing your own improvement each year is the basis of self-confidence.
That being said, let's go ahead and come up with our new resolutions.
We'll make sure we achieve our goals by this time next year.
There's no limit to how much a person can grow. I look forward to seeing your growth throughout the coming year.

5

Happy New Year! It's always a pleasure to spend the first day of the year with you.
Now, as for my resolution, I want to follow the example you set for others.
I didn't realize it at first, but you've been providing me with so much insight and not the other way around.
You always find ways to move forward, even if it's only one step at a time. Yes, anyone is capable of doing so, but it's never that simple.
It's easy to get caught in trivialities and stop altogether.
That's why I hold your forward-thinking ways in the highest regard.
Okay, you're next. What's your New Year's resolution?

Valentine's Day Cutscenes

1

H-happy Valentine's...
I... might have gotten some chocolates for you...

2

You don't have to spell it out. I know what you're hoping for.
You'd usually expect chocolate on Valentine's, wouldn't you?
But I've been thinking, and I decided this year I'll make a chocolate cake!
You want chocolate, and I want something sweet. Given that, there's only one thing left to do!
To have some cake together! Just wait right there, and I'll have it out in no time at all.

3

Hmm... Chocolates? Yes, I understand.
However, I did not arrange for chocolates this year.
I went out and got you a fruit cake instead!
Hehe. It's a luxurious delicacy from a famous bakery where customers have to line up early in the morning.
I assumed you would be tired of chocolate on a day like this.
In my mind, spending time with you while eating cake and sipping tea is far better than any chocolates can afford.
I've already brought the tea leaves with me. Please wait while I get it brewing shortly.

4

I must admit I've started to look forward to your yearly visits.
Hehe. I suppose you could say I enjoy the challenge of attempting to surpass your wildest expectations.
Go on, try a bite. I have full confidence that it won't disappoint.
This year I came up with the idea of chocolate rice crackers.
I got the inspiration from the rice crackers you once gave me.
The rich sweetness of the chocolate perfectly complements the saltiness of the crackers.
Aren't they just so delicious you can't stop eating them?
Hehe... But you should give in and enjoy yourself at times like these.
The time we spend smiling and laughing together is precious, after all.

5

Thanks for coming, (Captain). That's right, I've prepared chocolates for you without fail.
These are from a specialty shop. They're only sold in limited quantities, and they're fit for royalty.
Which means they're almost never in stock either. Anyway, try one.
Hm? Oh, this? This is a bottle of chocolate wine I purchased for myself.
You say you want to try some?
I'm afraid your age makes that an impossible request.
But don't worry. I'll bring another bottle once you're of drinking age.
Then we can share a toast together. I promise.

1

Oh? A present for me?
Ah, it's White Day already? Time sure flies. And I assume this is a box of sweets of some kind?
Hehe, I do enjoy a good treat now and again. I'll accept it with pleasure.
Hm? Rice crackers you say? I'd assume they were usually salty rather than sweet but—
Ahh, I see. Sweetened rice crackers sound right up my ally!

2

You went out of your way to prepare a White Day present for me again. I thank you, (Captain).
Those brown sugar rice crackers you gave me were scrumptious!
Thanks to you, I can now add a new thing to my list of favorites. Yes, that deserves a compliment.
Now what morsel have you brought me this year? Haha, my anticipation is palpable.
I cannot wait for you to show me what other undiscovered secrets lie in this world!

3

Hm? That's for me?
Haha. Ah, I remember now. Today is White Day.
Thank you, (Captain). I was on my way to invite you out anyway, so this is perfect timing. Let's go for some tea.
No, on second thought, let's postpone for now. You're probably already swamped for today.
Another chance will surely arise. Come see me when you have the time.
I'm always available to accept an invitation from you.

4

Hehe. Thank you for the gift.
Ever since you gave me those rice crackers, they've become one of my favorite snacks.
I find myself struck with a powerful craving for them sometimes while eating sweet things.
Now, what could your gift be this year?
I-I know what this is!
These are limited edition almond treats from that famous Port Breeze patisserie!
Ngh... How are you always able to discern my tastes so well?
I'm impressed you've already developed a skill for twisting adults around your little finger at such a young age.
I'll continue to hone my own skills so I can present you with something even better next Valentine's Day!

5

Oho... Homemade cookies to repay me for those chocolates I gave you, hm?
You do remember I have a discerning taste when it comes to sweets, right? Not even you can escape my critiques.
All right, let's start with this one.
Nom nom...
Hmm... While it doesn't quite stack up to the standard of a top-class bakery...
I doubt there's any patissier in the world who can mimic this warm feeling I get from just the first bite.
This cookie has two layers of sweetness to it: one from sugar and one from the love put into baking it.
Do you mind making me more batches, (Captain)? I can't get enough of this sweetness.

Trick or Treat Cutscenes

1

Trick or treat!
I have no interest in tricks, so you had best hand over the candy!

2

Heh... This sure brings back memories. Lecia had just joined the Fourth Fleet...
Everyone was having a good time celebrating Halloween, and Lecia shows up to tell us not to play any tricks on anyone!
It was the most uncomfortable Halloween ever.
Thankfully, Lecia figured out Halloween the next year, and we all had lots of fun trick or treating together!

3

Heh heh heh... Today the dead and the living dance all night. You know what that means, don't you?
Trick or treat! However, I have no interest in tricks. All I want is sweet, sweet candy!
What? You no longer have any candy reserves?
Fine, guess it can't be helped. Here, take this. It's candy from my own stock.
Of course I would very much like to have as much candy as I can get, but what's more important is ensuring everyone has a fun time tonight.

4

Trick or treat!
So... Which is it going to be?
But I suppose you know me well enough to predict which one I want.
Sweet, sweet treats, of course!
Hehe. This is a pumpkin cookie, right? I'll take that!
Hm, and that must be a snowball cookie! Why, don't mind if I do!
Heh heh. I advise you to surrender before I relieve you of all the treats in your possession!

5

Hey, (Captain). Can I discuss something about Halloween with you?
Everyone in the Fourth Fleet has decided to wear a costume this year.
The thing is, I've never worn a costume before, so I don't know what to go as...
A majority of the Enforcers agree that going as a young witch suits me best.
On the other hand, it's unbecoming of someone my age.
But Halloween is Halloween, so I guess it's fine. What do you think I should be, (Captain)?

Happy Holidays Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Happy holidays!
Tonight's the big night, so you had better rest up.

2

Sigh, what did I get myself into...
Hm? Oh, it's you. My crew has made a rather... unusual bet.
They're wagering whether or not Santa will come to visit me tonight.
Good grief... How old do they think I am, anyway?

3

Munch, munch...
Hngh! Gulp.
Oh my, who do we have here? I wasn't expecting to run into you.
What business do you have in the kitchen? I'm just making sure none of my comrades are breaking any rules on this holiday...
...
No, I should come clean with you. I don't want to tell you a bad lie.
To have my snack-raiding be exposed by you would be...
You won't say anything about this, right? It'll be our little secret. Hehe.
Well, then! It's time for me to make my patrols like I said I was.
What about you? I think the town's too lively tonight for someone to walk it alone.

4

Holiday pudding?
Or a buche de fete?
Well, I suppose the holidays aren't really the time to be worrying about overeating.
Excuse me, shopkeeper? I'll have one of each.
Oh. Hello, (Captain). Fancy running into you at this patisserie.
I was just selecting a gift for the rest of the crew on the Grandcypher.
I've already finished with my patrol. And it's the holidays, after all.
Hehehe. Let's celebrate with a fancy meal and some delicious sweets!

5

You're looking for cake shop recommendations?
Well, you're certainly asking the right person. Even so, the answer isn't as clear-cut as you might think.
There are a plethora of cake varieties, each with their own individuality.
I could take you to the shop that whips up an out-of-this-world cream that everyone agrees is delicious...
Or there's another shop that specializes in fruit-based cakes...
Ergh, but how can you say no to a good tart, or a brownie, or a cheesecake? Hmm...
Okay! It's time to take action instead of wallowing in indecision. Are you free right now?
I suggest we visit every shop on my recommendation list and sample their offerings.

Well-Earned Vacay

Monika performs a live show of Magical Girl Lovely-Heart Monika at Alohas as part of a public relations campaign for the Enforcers. After the show, she decides to use her vacation time to stay at the resort with Lecia. They run into Maria Theresa, who happens to be vacationing there too with (Captain)'s crew, and the three women enjoy Alohas's amenities together.

The Crew of Enforcers periodically puts on performances at orphanages around the skies as part of a general public relations campaign.
One of those shows was titled Magical Girl Lovely-Heart Monika.
When the higher-ups learned of the glowing reviews the show had garnered, they realized they had a potential hit on their hands and made the call for another run.
They chose Alohas for their second showing, hoping to reach a wider audience.
Monika: Magical Girl Lovely-Heart Monika! In the name of the skies, I'll lead you!
Monika: Never thought I'd be pulling this costume out of the closet again...
Monika: I wonder how long I'll have to play this alter ego.
Lecia: Ahaha... As long as you keep putting on amazing performances like the last one, I guess.
Lecia: The kids loved it.
Monika: Did they? Well, that's good to hear.
Although Monika is relieved to hear the positive feedback, it does little to change her rigid expression.
Lecia: By the way, Monika, you're scheduled for a two-day leave of absence starting today, aren't you?
Monika: Hm? Yes. What about it?
Lecia: Seeing as how we're already at a world-famous resort, why don't we just stay here to recharge our batteries?
Lecia: Our workload's been killer lately, so much so that asking for time off is, for all intents and purposes, impossible.
Monika: ...
Lecia: Stress and fatigue adds up over time, you know...
Monika: You're right about that. Actually, it had crossed my mind that I needed to kick up my heels and clear my head.
Monika: Days off don't come without a fight, and now that I finally have them, I ought to make the most of them.
Lecia: That's the right idea!
Monika: Okay, you win! Let's get me out of this outfit and into my bathing suit.
Monika: Hehe... To tell you the truth, I've had my eye on the main pool ever since we got here.
Having decided on a course of action, the two women head off to get changed.
They step out of the changing rooms—now perfectly geared for splash fights—and hit the pool.
Monika: Wow! I'd heard how nice it was, but it's even more stunning up close!
A vast swimming pool stretches for as far as the eye can see. Guests dot the waves, engaging in a multitude of activities, from cannonballing to dueling with water guns.
Lecia: Look. There are people inside those giant inflatable bubbles. What's that about?
Monika: Yeah, I'm curious about those too, but let's save them for later. There's something else at the top of my list.
Monika: Our first order of business should be to conquer this pool's crowning centerpiece: the giant waterslide.
Lecia: You want to tackle that monster right off the bat?
Monika: Why not? We'll have to ride the star attraction eventually, otherwise we'll have no right to claim we enjoyed the pool!
With a huge grin on her face, Monika sets off for the waterslide.
Monika: ...
Lecia: ...
Up on the towering slide—which is much taller than she'd anticipated—Monika's grin has evaporated. In its place is a look of heavy doubt.
Monika: I should be used to operating at high altitudes thanks to our work in the field, but this is...
Lecia: Almost too high... It didn't look so bad from afar...
Alohas Staff 1: Step right up, next rider.
Monika: H-here I go.
Alohas Staff 1: Lie flat on your back and place your hands over your stomach.
Monika: Like this?
Alohas Staff 1: Yep, you got it. Enjoy the ride!
Suddenly, the attendant gives Monika a gentle push from behind.
Monika: Huh?
Monika: Yaaaagh!
Monika streaks down the chute like a bullet fired from a gun, and her trailing screams can be heard from the farthest reaches of the pool.
After crossing off the waterslide from their to-do list, the two Enforcers move on to perhaps their greatest challenge yet.
Monika: I-it's so hard to keep my bal—bwah!
Lecia: Moni—kaaa!
Monika slips and faceplants against the inner wall of the bubble, which sends the giant inflatable rolling forward.
As a result, Lecia trips and slides along the backside of the bubble. After traveling upward for half a revolution, she tumbles straight down.
Monika: Sorry, Lecia. Let me just—
Lecia: No! Stop! Don't make any sudden—
Monika: Waaah!
Lecia: Gyaaah!
Monika: Ngh... My head is spinning...
Lecia: What I was trying to say was you have to stand up slowly inside these things.
Monika: I know, I know... E-easier said than done—aaagh!
Lecia: Eep!
Monika tries to stand up again, but she immediately loses her balance and wipes out.
Monika: Sorry about this, Lecia. I need your support now more than ever.
Monika: It pains me to admit it, but I don't think I can stay upright on my own.
Lecia: Haha. It's not a problem at all.
Monika shimmies up Lecia's legs as she tries to steady herself against the bubble's unstable surface.
Guest 1: Hey, check it out. That girl's clinging to her friend like a cat wrapped around a branch.
Guest 2: Cut her some slack. It's hard to get your balance in one of those.
Guest 2: That is pretty cute though. Teehee, they must be close friends.
Monika: Ngh, this is so humiliating. Sadly I have no choice but to suffer this indignity.
Lecia: Hahaha...
The pair finish their water bubble excursion and discuss what to do next.
Monika: I think we've more or less covered the thrill rides.
Monika: I don't know about you, but I could go for a nice float in the pool to unwind.
Lecia: That sounds—
A loud growl from Lecia's stomach butts into their conversation.
Lecia immediately turns beet red.
Lecia: Geez...
Monika: Haha, I hear you. It's around lunchtime anyway. Let's grab some food.
Lecia: Yeah...
Lecia nods, and Monika consults the nearest map board of the resort.
Monika: Wow. We've got a plethora of places to choose from, and they all offer takeout too...
Monika: Lecia, I say we split up for now.
Lecia: What are you thinking?
Monika: I'm thinking it'd be boring for both of us to order from the same restaurant when there are so many options available.
Lecia: Haha, true enough. Then let's pick out what we want and split it.
Monika: Oho, good idea.
The two Enforcers then go off in different directions to search for an appetizing lunch.
Monika's hunt brings her to one of the resort's many food courts.
Monika: Seems like all the other guests decided to take their lunch break now too. I'm having trouble getting through this crowd.
Monika: Oops, my apologies. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going.
Suddenly, Monika is bumped from behind, and she stumbles toward the floor.
Fortunately, someone grabs her by the arm and keeps her from falling.
???: Oh, I'm so sorry! I was shoved back by the crowd. Are you all right?
???: Wait, aren't you...
Monika: You must be...
Maria Theresa not in crew

This is Maria Theresa, one of the ten Evokers and pactbearer to primal beast Justice.
During an expedition into the replicated world, Monika became acquainted with the Evokers via (Captain)'s crew.
Once the Evokers joined forces with the crew, that greatly accelerated the investigation into the Arcarum.
Monika: This is perhaps the last place I expected to bump into you, Theresa.
Maria Theresa: Haha, I suppose it would be. I never thought I'd see you at Alohas either.
Maria Theresa: I and few others came here with (Captain) for vacation. How about you? Is this a business trip?
Monika: No, I'm staying as a guest too. Speaking of the crew, are they off doing their own thing right now?
Monika looks around to see if she can spot anyone else she might know.
Maria Theresa: Yeah, everyone's got their own itinerary.
Maria Theresa: I was starving, so I came to the food court for lunch.
Monika: Ah, I see. Actually, Lecia and I were also about to settle in for a meal. Care to join us?
Monika: We decided we'd each buy something we like and then rendezvous to eat together.
Monika: Oh, but don't feel pressured to eat with us or anything.
Maria Theresa: Not at all. If you're offering me a seat at the table, then I'd be delighted to take it.
Monika: Perfect. So without further ado, let's see what these restaurants have to offer.
Monika and Maria Theresa begin discussing the kinds of food they like.
Monika: Is this the shop you were talking about?
Maria Theresa: Yep. I once had a client come in for an appraisal, and they couldn't stop gushing about this place.
Maria Theresa: I remembered that it was at Alohas, so I knew I had to come see what all the fuss was about.
Monika: Hm... Now you've got me intrigued.
Maria Theresa: Then shall we each pick out something different to share?
Maria Theresa: More variety means more satisfaction, wouldn't you agree?
Monika: Haha... Lecia and I had the exact same conversation.
Monika: Oh, whoa. I didn't know they had a location at Alohas.
Maria Theresa: Do you know this store?
Monika: Yes, I'm a loyal customer as a matter of fact. Their desserts pair well with pretty much everything.
Maria Theresa: If it comes with your seal of approval, then I simply must try it.
Maria Theresa: (Captain) mentioned your discerning taste for sweets.
Monika: That's... probably a bit of an exaggeration, but I do enjoy going for walks while biting down on the occasional treat. I can point out a few of the store's bestsellers if you'd like.
Maria Theresa: Please do! I have quite the sweet tooth myself.
The women inadvertently go on a shopping spree at the food court.
They don't realize the extent of their purchases until it's too late.
Maria Theresa: Hm... I think we may have gone overboard. This is what happens when you shop for food on an empty stomach...
Looking at the stuffed bags in each of their hands, they sheepishly chuckle.
Monika: Haha... We definitely splurged, didn't we? Lecia's probably waiting for us by now. I'm confident we can make a sizable dent between the three of us.
Monika hefts her bags and sets off with Maria Theresa to find Lecia.
Lecia: Ah, there you—er, is that... Theresa?
Maria Theresa: Good afternoon, Lecia. I hope you don't mind me being a third wheel.
Monika: Theresa literally bumped into me in the food court. She and (Captain)'s crew are here on vacation.
Lecia: Huh, how 'bout that? Please, by all means, hang out with us.
The three women spread out their purchases and proceed to dig in.
Lecia: Mm... This is amazing!
Monika: It sure is. It's from a shop that someone recommended to Theresa. I must say, that person has good taste.
Maria Theresa: Heehee, it's always nice to discover a new thing that agrees with you. Speaking of which, I wonder if we were born with the same taste buds?
Maria Theresa: Because this dessert you picked out is to die for, Monika!
Maria Theresa's eyes had lit up with surprise the moment she'd taken a bite of Monika's dessert.
Maria Theresa: Hey, I've got an idea. What do you say we sample some more foods while we walk and talk sometime?
Lecia: Choke, cough...
That's a bad idea, Theresa...
The suggestion nearly causes Lecia to choke. She tries to dissuade Maria Theresa in between coughs.
Maria Theresa: Oh dear. How come?
Lecia: Monika has a knack for picking out tasty snacks, but her self-control ends up taking a backseat...
Lecia: You have to consider if all the extra calories and sugar are really worth the price...
Maria Theresa: Oh, that! It's fine! The key to canceling out a huge meal is to do a huge workout right after!
Maria Theresa: As a tea party aficionado, I've eaten my share of pastries, and Justice gives me some grief about my snacking habits every time.
Maria Theresa: So at the very least, I aim to burn the calories I just consumed so as not to tip the scales. The alternative is to sacrifice my guilty pleasure, and I don't want to do that.
Monika: There is a case to be made for the negative impacts of imposing self-restrictions on what you enjoy.
Monika: That being said...
Lecia: I feel like your method of keeping off the weight is too good to be true...
The Enforcers look Maria Theresa up and down.
Maria Theresa: Erm... Could you two not do that? It's kind of awkward.
Monika: S-sorry.
Lecia: My apologies.
Maria Theresa: Haha. In any case, this is the first time we've had the chance to engage in girl talk.
Monika: Now that you mention it, you're right.
Monika: All those other times when (Captain) was around, our conversations would always gravitate toward work-related topics.
Maria Theresa: Right, sorry. We Evokers have proven to be real pains in the tush.
Monika: Don't worry about it. Anyway, cumbersome conversations like that are best saved for the office.
Monika: We're here to take a load off.
Maria Theresa: You're right about that. How rude of me to bring it up.
With a quiet smile, Maria Theresa bows her head.
Monika: So what are your plans after this?
Maria Theresa: Hm, nothing's on my agenda... Oh, wait. I was thinking about getting a spa treatment.
Maria Theresa: All the missions I've been taking recently have done a number on my skin, and that's on top of the accompanying aches and pains.
Maria Theresa: A full-body massage is just what the doctor ordered.
Monika: A spa treatment, huh...
Monika: (I can already picture how good it'd feel to get the knots out.)
Maria Theresa: If you're both free, shall we go together?
Monika: That does sound good. Filing paperwork at my desk for hours on end isn't doing my neck and back any favors.
Lecia: Haha, same. Plus I'm a little worried by how rough my skin's gotten.
Maria Theresa: Then it's settled! Hopefully they have enough openings for three.
They all nod in agreement and continue eating and chatting.
After wrapping up lunch and letting it digest for a bit, the three hit the spa.
Monika: (So this is what an oil massage feels like... I could definitely get used to this.)
Monika: (When was my last vacation anyway? Like a billion years ago?)
Monika: (Maybe I can work out a plan to take leave more often...)
Monika: (In the meantime, I'm going to immerse myself in Alohas's luxury...)
As Monika has the fatigue kneaded out of her body, her eyes grow heavy, and she drifts off into quiet bliss.

Best-Laid Plans Go Awry

After Maria Theresa leaves, Monika and Lecia encounter some distressed Alohas staffers. According to the employees, a group of criminals is holding a number of guests and staff for ransom. As Enforcers, Monika and Lecia pledge to resolve this case.

Maria Theresa, Lecia, and Monika's spa session comes to a close.
They feel physically and mentally rejuvenated, and it shows on their faces, which are positively glowing.
Monika: That was so refreshing. All right, what shall we do next?
Maria Theresa: Ah, sorry. I should really get back to (Captain) and the others.
Maria Theresa: I've been gone for a while, and I wouldn't want them to start worrying about me.
Monika: Of course. It's a shame we couldn't spend more time together.
Lecia: Yeah. There's still so much we never got to chat about.
Maria Theresa: How about this? Next time we'll have a tea party at a cafe of Monika's choosing!
Monika: Heh, I can already name a few candidates. Please give the crew our regards.
Maria Theresa: Will do.
Maria Theresa waves goodbye and walks away.
Lecia: So what's next for us?
Monika: Hm...
Monika stares at a map of Alohas.
Monika: We've been to the pool, the spa, and eaten well. What else is Alohas known for—
Alohas Staff 1: Hey, did you finish checking in with everyone on your team?
Alohas Staff 2: Not yet, but it does seem like we're shorthanded.
Alohas Staff 3: Same here. And I've got more bad news. They weren't bluffing about the guests...
Alohas Staff 1: You're kidding me...
Alohas Staff 2: We need to get this resolved before any guests start catching wind...
Lecia: Sounds like there might be problem.
Monika: Yeah.
Monika: (Even if I am off duty, that doesn't mean I can turn a blind eye to those in need.)
Monika: Lecia—
Lecia: Let's go see if we can be of service, Monika.
Monika: Heh, you read my mind. We truly are workaholics, aren't we?
Lecia: Haha, isn't that the truth?
The two Enforcers shake their heads at each other and then approach the Alohas employees.
Monika: Excuse me. May we please have a word?
Alohas Staff 1: Sure. How can I help you?
Monika: We couldn't help but notice you all seem on edge. Did something happen?
Alohas Staff 1: I'm afraid I can't discuss private matters with guests, but I assure you there's nothing to worry about. Please enjoy your stay at Alohas.
It's clear that the cheerful staffer doesn't intend to divulge any information.
Monika steps in closer to the men and lowers her voice.
Monika: We're with the Crew of Enforcers. If there's been a disturbance, I suggest you fill us in.
Alohas Staff 1: ...!
Alohas Staff 2: I recognize you... You're Lovely-Heart Monika.
Monika: Yeah. That's me. If you'd rather not speak out in the open, then let's take this somewhere private.
Alohas Staff 1: You're right; that would be best. The staff rooms are usually empty around this time.
Monika: Lead the way.
Monika and Lecia glance at each other and follow behind the staffers.
The Alohas employees bring the Enforcers to an empty room.
Monika: I take it you're trying to keep whatever this is under wraps from the public.
Alohas Staff 1: That is correct. The resort received a threatening letter.
The staffer produces a handwritten note and hands it to Monika.
"While we're staying at your lovely resort, my friends and I decided to borrow a couple of employees and guests."
"You can have them back—for a price."
"Try to evacuate the grounds or go to the authorities, and their lives are forfeit."
The letter ends without a signature.
Alohas Staff 1: We've been running around trying to confirm if any of this is true.
Monika: All right. I have a handle on the situation.
Monika: We Enforcers will spare no effort in solving this case.
Alohas Staff 1: Thank you! You truly are lifesavers!
Lecia: There isn't much to go on. We could stand to gather more information.
Monika: Right. We know next to nothing about the criminals' identities or the conditions of the hostages.
Monika: In the meantime, can you pretend to prepare the ransom money to draw the perpetrators' attention?
Alohas Staff 1: Y-yes, right away.
Monika: It goes without saying, but do not tell anyone about our involvement—not even your colleagues. We have to assume everyone to be a suspect.
Alohas Staff 1: E-even one of our own? What if that's true!
Monika: Don't worry. I won't hesitate to arrest someone who looks the least bit suspicious.
Alohas Staff 1: ...!
Monika: Calm down. Everyone in this room is clean.
Lecia: Mm-hm. We've been scrutinizing your actions from the beginning, and we've noticed nothing out of the ordinary.
Monika: The perps are going to come looking for the money, so we'll definitely be hearing from them again.
Monika: Contact us when that happens.
Alohas Staff 1: Got it!
Lecia: Since this is a hostage situation, we should keep the op as small as possible.
Monika: Yeah. But if worse comes to worst, we'll turn to the crew for help.
Lecia: True, they are staying at the resort at the moment, but...
Monika: That's only if we run out of options. (Captain) and the others deserve an unmolested vacation as much as anyone.
Lecia: Agreed.
Monika: Okay. We're in a race against the clock here.
Monika: Let's move.
As for the rest of you, see if you can stall for time.
With that, the Enforcers rush out of the room.
Monika: How dare these villains sabotage my long-overdue vacation.
Monika: When I get my hands on them, they'll wish they never stepped foot on this island.
As Monika mutters this threat under her breath, she switches to full-on work mode and prepares to wage war on crime.

Best-Laid Plans Go Awry: Scene 2

During their investigation, Monika and Lecia stumble across Nier being threatened by members of the gang responsible for the hostage crisis. The Enforcers arrest and interrogate the gangsters, leading to the rescue of some of the hostages. When (Captain) and company come searching for Nier, Monika asks if they can rescue the remaining hostages, to which the crew accept.

Monika and Lecia roam the grounds of Alohas in search of hints of suspicious activities.
Unfortunately, the two investigators can only cover so much ground between them in such a short amount of time.
Lecia: Find anything, Monika?
Monika: Nothing. No shifty characters nor out-of-place rooms to speak of.
Facing a deadly impending deadline with no solution in sight, the first signs of panic begin to break their otherwise professional facade.
???: Who the... What... doing here!
???: Doesn't matter... Put... with the others!
???: Oh, is... restricted?
???: I'm... go now, okay?
???: Stop... her up!
Monika: Sounds like a big argument. Could it be related? I think it came from over there...
Lecia: According to the staffer, this area is off-limits to unauthorized personnel.
Lecia: But he also said nearly all employees should be out on their shifts at this hour...
Monika: Did we just stumble onto the big break we needed? Come on, Lecia!
Lecia: Roger that!
They immediately race toward where the voices came from.
When Monika and Lecia round the corner, they come to a complete stop.
They see a young woman cornered by a group of men.
Monika: You there! What are—
Nier: Go ahead, Death.
Death: As yoo wish, beloved...
A black shadow emerges behind the woman.
The shadow fully takes form and then knocks out the men in the blink of an eye.
Lecia: That can only be...
Monika: Yeah...
Nier: More meddlers? Have you come to stand in my way—
Nier: Huh? No... You two are acquaintances of (Captain)...
Death: Beloved?
Nier: Those people are okay.
Death: Very well...
Nier: Thank you for understanding, Death.
After hearing this reassurance, Death's body turns jet black and dissipates into nothing.
Nier not in crew

This is Nier, one of the ten Evokers and pactbearer to primal beast Death.
During an expedition into the replicated world, Monika became acquainted with the Evokers via (Captain)'s crew.
Once the Evokers joined forces with the crew, that greatly accelerated the investigation into the Arcarum.
Monika: Lecia, check on the fallen.
Lecia: Searching for a pulse now... They're still breathing!
Monika: I see.
Monika lets out a sigh of relief.
Monika: ((Captain) mentioned that girl made a pact with the primal beast that governs death, so I feared the worst...)
Nier: I wouldn't kill them.
Nier: That would only cause a scene and bring unwanted trouble to the crew.
Monika: ...
The Enforcers stare back at Nier in stony silence.
Lecia leans over Monika and whispers into her ear.
Lecia: She has no qualms killing so long as it doesn't inconvenience (Captain) and the crew.
Lecia: That's what she's not saying.
Monika: I know.
Monika: We can avoid a bloodbath as long as (Captain) and the others are here too, but it's definitely a topic we have to revisit later.
Lecia: No question.
Nier: Is something wrong?
Monika: Nope, nothing at all. Say, can I ask you something, Nier? How did you end up back here?
Monika: Shouldn't you be with (Captain) and the others?
Nier: I was, but...
Nier: Do you know where everyone is right now?
Lecia: Unfortunately we don't. We were only informed that the crew is visiting Alohas.
Nier: I see.
Lecia: Did you get separated from the others somehow?
Nier nods despondently.
Monika: So you got lost and wandered into a place you shouldn't be.
Nier: No, I'm not lost. I heard strange voices while looking for the crew and decided to check them out.
Nier: Then all of a sudden these men surrounded me...
Lecia: Hmm... Could you tell us more about the "strange voices" you heard?
Nier: It was like hearing people talking in the background. I couldn't make out what was being said though.
This new information makes Monika and Lecia turn pale.
Lecia: Monika.
Monika: Yeah, I think we found them.
Nier: ...?
Monika: First, let's restrain these men and see if we can get them to talk.
Lecia: Roger that!
Monika and Lecia tie up the suspects and begin interrogating them.
However, they keep getting stonewalled.
Man 1: Hostages? Ransom letter? Lady, you've been reading too many mystery books.
Man 1: Me and the boys were just trying to hit up that babe over there.
Man 2: Yeah, yeah. We were playing nice, but she kept shooting us down.
Man 2: So we figured we had to get a bit more persuasive.
Man 3: C'mon, untie us already! There's no law against picking up chicks!
Lecia: This is going nowhere.
Monika: Not to mention we don't have any solid evidence to make charges stick.
Monika: I hate to say it, but it's their words against Nier's. We can't hold them just for hurling catcalls.
Lecia: This feels wrong—
???: Someone...
???: Please... out there?
???: Waaah... scared...
Suddenly they hear muffled sounds of desperation.
Monika: Huh? Were those the voices you heard before, Nier?
Nier: Yes, those are the ones.
Monika: All right. Now where are they originating from?
Man 1: What, you chicks got ear problems or something? Untie us right now!
Man 2: Yeah! I don't hear no voices!
The men frantically try to make as much noise as they can.
However, Monika simply ignores them and walks around until the voices get louder.
Monika: Over here?
Standing before Monika is a thick steel door.
Monika: Bet it's locked...
She tugs at the door's handle, but it won't budge.
The answers they seek on the other side remain locked up tight.
Lecia: Let's go track down a staffer. Maybe they'll have a key.
Monika: No, we shouldn't.
Lecia: Huh? Why not?
Monika: We don't want to give the impression that a discovery has been made.
Monika: If that leaks out, the criminals could get jumpy and retaliate against the hostages and other guests.
Lecia: So how are we supposed to get this door open?
Monika: Nier, can I borrow you for a second?
Nier: Yes?
Monika: Would you be able to command your primal beast to slice open this door?
Nier: Sure. Why?
Monika: I'll explain later. So if you will...
Nier: Okay.
Monika: Thanks. Sorry for the odd request.
Nier: Death, I need you.
Death: As yoo wish, beloved...
The primal beast once again manifests and slices the door into pieces.
Man 1: Whoa! What the hell!
Man 2: No frickin' way... That freak cut through the steel like a hot knife through butter...
The men watch in awe and terror at the power of Nier and her Arcarum.
Throwing a backward glance at the men, Monika steps through the doorway.
Inside are employees and guests in various states of breakdown. Their limbs are bound by rope.
Monika: Bingo.
Nier: Um... Who are these people?
Monika: They're resort guests and employees being held for ransom.
Monika: It seems you got too close to discovering the truth, so these men attempted to shut you up.
Lecia: They probably thought they could take another hostage.
Monika: Either way, these guys messed with the wrong people.
Monika almost seems to take pity on the suspects.
Monika: Well then, the evidence has really stacked up against you fellows. You could save yourselves lots of trouble by spilling the beans.
Monika: And I wouldn't lie or smooth-talk your way out of this if I were you, if you catch my drift.
Monika nods toward Nier and Death.
Judging from the way the men quake and hang their heads, it seems they've gotten the message loud and clear.
Lecia: Nice bluff, Monika.
Monika: No one crashes my vacation and gets away scot-free. I think I've earned the right to make them squirm a little.
Lecia: I should've known...
With the specter of Death looming over their heads, the suspects confess to the whereabouts of their leader and the remaining hostages.
The question now for the Enforcers is how best to proceed.
Monika: They have more hostage sites than I could've guessed.
Lecia: And to make matters worse, we have to free the captives and arrest the ringleader without any perps catching on to our movements.
Monika: Splitting up is the right call, but even so, there are only two of us...
Lecia: Maybe it's time to finally call for that backup?
Monika: I was hoping it wouldn't come to that, but—
Lyria: Over here! Death's aura is coming from—oh! Found them!
A familiar voice causes Nier and the Enforcers to turn and look behind them.
Nier: Ah, (Captain)!
A wave of relief washes over Nier's face upon seeing the crew.
  1. You had us freaking out, you know.
  2. You shouldn't wander off on your own!

Choose: You had us freaking out, you know.
Nier: I'm sorry...
Vyrn: Well, at least we finally found her.
Lyria: Mm-hm.
Nier: Thank you for looking for me.
Nier's big smile grows even wider.

Choose: You shouldn't wander off on your own!
Nier: I'm sorry for worrying you all... Heehee...
Vyrn: What's so funny? Ya think we like lecturin' you?
Nier: This is the first time anyone's yelled at me like that out of concern.
Nier: That's why I'm feeling happy right now.
Nier: It really shows that you care about me, doesn't it?
Lyria: Of course we care! You're a very dear friend to us!
Nier: Knowing that you all feel that way warms my heart...
Nier smiles with genuine joy.
Continue 1
Lyria: Hm? Why are Monika and Lecia here too? And who are these other people?
Monika: Sorry, (Captain), but I need your assistance.
Vyrn: Wait, what? We don't even know what's goin' on.
Monica offers an apologetic nod and then explains everything that's happened thus far.
Vyrn: Wow, that's crazy.
Monika: So can we—
  1. Just tell me what to do.

Choose: Just tell me what to do.
Monika: Right. Thanks a lot.
Lecia: Thank you, Captain!
Vyrn: Okay, so where do you want us?
Monika: I need you guys to rescue the hostages.
Monika: Here, take this with you. I've written down their locations.
Monika hands (Captain) a map of Alohas that she has marked with circles.
Monika: In addition to securing the hostages, please apprehend any criminals you come across. Do not allow a single one to slip away.
Monika: If even one of them manages to raise the alarm, this will get way, way messier.
Lyria: Got it!
Monika: Okay—break!
The crew members affirm their commitment to the operation and scatter in all directions.

Best-Laid Plans Go Awry: Scene 3

Monika and Lecia wait until all hostages have been secured by the crew before confronting the gang leader, who is waiting by the pool for the money drop. Knowing that the jig is up, a gang member disguised as an Alohas staffer takes a boy as a shield. The gang tries to flee, but with Maria Theresa and Nier's help, the Enforcers stop them without any casualties. Afterward, Monika and Lecia enjoy the remainder of their vacation with the crew, and then head back to work on Amalthea.

After much detective work and some happenstance, Monika and Lecia have made a major breakthrough in the hostage crisis.
Lecia: Assuming those lackeys told us the truth about the hostage sites, each one should be covered by (Captain) and company.
Monika: Yeah. Hopefully we'll hear some good news soon...
Alohas Staff 1: Ah, there you two are!
Lecia: You seem in a rush.
Alohas Staff 1: That (Captain) person asked me to pass you an urgent message.
Monika: Let's hear it.
Alohas Staff 1: They said, "Everything's all clear."
Monika: I shouldn't be surprised by (Captain)'s efficiency at this point.
Lecia: All that's left is to bring in the mastermind, and that'll be case closed.
Monika: Right. The suspects we interrogated claimed their boss was somewhere by the pool.
Lecia: Yep.
Monika: After we crush their crooked scheme, we can return to a peaceful day of leisure!
After that, Monika and Lecia quickly make their way to the pool.
Monika: Here we are. Now where do we start looking for our guy...
Lecia: Monika, over there!
Monika follows Lecia's line of sight and spots a group of men in a huddle.
Monika: The one in the middle matches the description we were given.
Monika: We're going in, Lecia!
Lecia: Right behind you!
Gang Leader: Damn, what's takin' 'em so long to prepare our money?
Man 4: I just got done asking the guy what's the holdup.
Man 4: Dude said he's going as fast as he can, but bagging that much cash is gonna take a while.
Gang Leader: Tch! We don't have a while. Go back and tell him to hurry the hell up.
Gang Leader: And make sure he knows that every second that ticks by is one second less the hostages have to live.
Man 4: Got it.
Huh? Who are you?
As the underling tries to leave to carry out his boss's orders, he's blocked by Monika and Lecia.
Monika: Your dastardly plan ends here. We've already freed the hostages. Now all that's left is for your gang to come quietly.
Gang Leader: Is this some kinda sick joke? Lady, you got the wrong guys.
Lecia: You'd like that, wouldn't you? Too bad the rest of your goon squad gave the game away.
Gang Leader: Tch! How could those idiots screw this up!
Monika: Luck was against you from the moment two world-renowned crews arrived on the premises.
Monika: No matter your plans, they were doomed from the start.
Man 4: Crap! The jig is up, Boss!
Gang Leader: Cool it. We're not licked yet. Ain't that right?
???: Yep.
Monika and Lecia whip around to face an Alohas employee who's clutching a young boy.
Alohas Staff 4: Don't try anything funny or the kid gets it!
The man presses a knife against the boy's nape and mimics a slicing motion.
Little Boy: Aaaah! Help! Mama!
Lecia: ...!
Monika: Tch... The mole finally crawls out of his hole in the worst way imaginable!
The boy's screams draw the attention of other poolside guests, and soon the entire area is thrown into chaos.
Alohas Staff 4: Okay, now what?
Gang Leader: That's our cue to exit.
Man 4: Hey! What about the money!
Gang Leader: Shut up! You think they're gonna let us keep that money while we're in prison? We're done here! Don't let go of our escape ticket!
Using the boy as a human shield, the suspects cautiously make their way toward the exit.
Lecia: Monika, they're getting away...
Monika: Hold fast. We'll get our chance to act.
Nier: Come out, Death.
Maria Theresa: Go forth, Justice.
A pair of welcome voices suddenly ring out.
Death and Justice advance on the fleeing criminals in a flash.
Maria Theresa: Now!
Monika: Lecia! On me!
Lecia: Affirmative!
Seizing the opportunity created by the primals, Monika extricates the boy from his captor's grip.
Monika: Sorry you got mixed up in this mess, kiddo. I know this must be scary for you.
Little Boy: ...!
Little Boy: Y-you're...
Gang Leader: Damn it! Fine! If you wanna be kidnapped too, then be my guest!
Monika: Try me. It's time to face the music!
Monika: Magical Power, Full Drive!
Monika: Lovely Sky Hurricane!
Gang Leader: Gwaah!
Monika: Evil never prospers!
Lecia: Monika? What are you...
Little Boy: I knew it! You're Lovely-Heart Monika!
Monika: Ack!
Monika: Wh-what got into me?
Lecia: Er... Monika?
Monika: Listen up, Lecia!
Lecia: L-listening!
Monika: Forget everything you just saw! That's an order!
Her cheeks turning rosy red, Monika lays down the law.
Lecia just nods, biting her lip to keep from laughing.
All of the criminals are brought into custody shortly thereafter.
Now that the commotion has died down, Monika and friends enjoy a soak in a heated pool.
Monika: I never want to get out of this comfy pool...
Monika: That ordeal took a greater toll on me than I thought.
Lecia: Ahaha...
???: Hey! We meet again.
Nier and Maria Theresa have settled into beach chairs close by.
Monika: Hey, you two.
Lecia: Mind if we sit with you?
Maria Theresa: Certainly not! You're fine with that too, right, Nier?
Nier: That's okay by me.
Monika and Lecia climb out of the water and grab beach chairs next to the Evokers.
Monika: That reminds me. I haven't properly thanked you two yet for your assistance back there.
Maria Theresa: Think nothing of it. We couldn't allow things to get out of hand.
Maria Theresa: Besides, friends help each other out.
Nier: You've helped us with our own issues, so it's only fair that we repay the favor.
Nier: I also wanted to be useful to the crew.
Nier: And finally, I didn't want anyone's vacation getting ruined...
Lecia: Theresa... Nier...
Maria Theresa: Anyway, now that that's all behind us, we can pick up where we left off on relaxing.
Monika: You said it.
Nier: By the way, is your Lovely-Heart Monika show over at Alohas?
Monika: Hm? Yes, there aren't any more official showings scheduled.
Nier: I see...
The news seems to dishearten Nier.
Lecia: Something wrong?
Nier: No... Not really... Just a little disappointed, that's all. I was hoping to catch another viewing...
Monika: Wait. Did you say "another" viewing? As in, you've already seen that show before?
Nier: Yes... I'm a fan of plays actually...
Monika: Is that so...
Monika suddenly tenses up for some reason.
Nier: It was such a lovely production... with an easy-to-follow narrative and flashy choreography.
Nier: But if I had to critique, I think focusing too much on matching the script held you back.
Nier: It sort of felt like... you were embarrassed to be on stage, and it came through in your acting.
Nier: The way you announced your special move earlier was perfect. I think you could've elevated your performance if you had delivered your lines with that same level of confidence.
Monika: I-I don't even know why I did that! It wasn't planned or anything!
Maria Theresa: Ah, I was wondering what you were shouting as you were about to arrest that man.
Maria Theresa: That was one of Lovely-Heart Monika's special moves, huh?
Maria Theresa: Haha, I guess you've played the role long enough that she's become your alter ego.
Lecia: Ahaha... Yeah, she comes out from time to time.
Monika: Sigh... Can we please just drop this?
Instead of answering Monika back, Maria Theresa and Lecia simply giggle.
Monika turns away as if to hide from the humiliating spotlight.
Lecia: You said you like plays, Nier? You certainly seem to know your stuff...
Lecia seems slightly surprised by Nier's interest.
Nier: Maybe it's more accurate to say that I like stories... They let me imagine myself as something different...
Nier: I like them so much that I write my own.
Nier: So I guess I am a little more knowledgeable compared to the average person.
Monika: Well, if the magical girl series is ever reprised, I know exactly who to ask to write the script.
Monika: I can count on you to incorporate my feedback, right?
Nier: I-I can't write a play! I'm not a professional writer!
Nier: If anyone ever read my stories... I'd die of embarrassment...
Monika: Haha. Hey, we can feel mortified together.
Nier: Oh no...
Lecia: Aw, lay off the poor girl, Monika! You're making her uncomfortable.
Monika: Heh. It was just a joke.
That Monika was speaking in jest is exactly what Nier had hoped for, and she breathes a huge sigh of relief.
The Enforcers spend the rest of their vacation having a grand old time with the Evokers and the crew.
The days pass by quickly.
Monika is back at the Enforcers's headquarters in Amalthea.
Monika: It wasn't without its hiccups, but that fun-filled vacation was just the thing I needed.
Monika: Now that our energy stores are fully charged, let's make sure we channel them into our duties.
Lecia: Roger that!
Monika walks through the halls of headquarters with a bounce in her step.
Freed from the chains of fatigue, her productivity is about to grow by leaps and bounds.
