Happy Birthday Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

You're really fortunate to have so many friends celebrating with you.
I know I was kind of awkward on your last birthday...
I always end up remembering my father without fail.
He was always stern and intimidating, but there was one day of the year where he would look at me with the love for his daughter.
I'll never forget that face. That's why I couldn't bring myself to tell anyone about my birthday.
But those guys... I don't know how they found out, but they surprised me with birthday wishes.
Ahaha... Friends are truly wonderful, aren't they?

2

(Captain), happy birthday! I'm so honored to be a part of your special day.
This is the second time I've been able to share this day with you...
It occurred to me that we are really alike.
Both of us are on this journey to find our fathers. That make me feel more connected to you.
This may sound odd, but when your birthday comes around, I wonder what your father is like.
Because you're so dependable, I imagine your father to be someone just like you.
Who knows when our journey will end, but I'm glad to have you by my side.
I'm not sure if that came out right... I'm not very good with my words...
Just know I'll always be there to support you.

3

Happy birthday, (Captain).
This is the third time I've had the honor to celebrate this special day with you.
You've made such progress in the time I've known you, (Captain). You have a lot to be proud of.
I'm sure your father would be over the moon to see how you've turned out.
I don't know if the same could be said for me. What would that strict father of mine have to say if he saw me now?
...
Thank you. Your kind words make it that much easier to believe in myself.
I don't really know what my father will think when we meet... But there is one thing I'm certain of.
I'll be proud to introduce you to him as my friends, (Captain).
Until that day, and from there on out, let's stick together.

Happy New Year Cutscenes

1

Happy New Year, (Captain).
But you know, having a calm start to the new year is a first for me.
When my father was still healthy, he'd wake me up early for grueling morning drills. That was after I joined the Iron Spear Agents.
It became our custom to sweat the entire New Year's day training. New-dawn drills we called them.
Ahaha, so would you care to indulge me, (Captain)?
Let's work up a good sweat with some new-dawn drills!

2

(Captain), Happy New Year.
This morning the crew and I prepared a traditional Iron Spear's New Year's dish called Osechi.
Would you like to try some? I think it came out well.
We believe this dish brings good luck. At the very least, I hope it will have a placebo effect.
Please do have some.
I wish nothing but the best for you, our leader.
We made a lot, so feel free to take seconds!

3

Happy New Year, (Captain).
I'm deeply grateful we both made it safely through a year filled with so many dangerous assignments.
Thanks to you and the crew, it's been a very fulfilling twelve months for me.
I do have some regrets, however. I feel like my ceding to impure thoughts has caused trouble for all of you.
So would you accompany me on my first shrine visit of the year?
I want to go and pledge not to let my impure thoughts mislead me.
That should strengthen my resolve to diamond hardness. Don't you think?

Valentine's Day Cutscenes

1

Happy Valentine's Day, (Captain).
I'm sorry these turned out so poorly, but it's the thought that counts.
Hahaha... You may be young, but you're quite the smooth talker, (Captain).
You don't have to flatter me. I've been an agent for a long time now, and I've come to terms with my weaknesses.
Wait, you're not just saying that, are you? You actually think it tastes good?
Cut that out! Don't toy with my feelings!

2

(Captain), here's a good place to do this.
I've prepared a Valentine's Day gift for you. Here you go.
What? What do you mean, "Am I trying to say something?" It's just chocolate...
I-I don't mean to imply anything romantic... It's not as if I don't have feelings for you, but...
I-I must be perfectly clear... I'm not professing my l-lov-... Absolutely not! Please stop looking at me like that!
If you must know... Our relationship... is entirely dependent on how you feel...
M-may I ask... exactly... how you do feel?

Oh, this is for White Day, huh?
Sorry, that was a bit callous. Thank you very much, (Captain).
Ahaha... I'm kind of awkward in these situations. It's just rare for me to get a gift from a guy.
Do you think it's sad? No one among the Iron Spears thought of me in that way.
It was all about training. As long as you performed, you were an equal in their eyes. Which isn't a bad way to think to be honest.
But still, it's nice to get a gift every once in a while.

2

... (It's (Captain)!)
(That (Captain) came to me must mean...)
(What should I do? I'm so indebted to (Captain) and I'm nothing more than a member of this team...)
(I... I...)
What? It's just a gift in return for what I gave you on Valentine's Day?
You thought my gift was thoughtful and just wanted to repay me...
Hahaha... Thank you. I accept your gesture.
(Sigh... I-I let myself get carried away with frivolous thoughts again...)
(How could I let myself think that... (Captain) felt that way about me...)

Trick or Treat Cutscenes

1

Hm, I'm not too fond of Halloween...
Why, you ask? Isn't it obvious? People are given free reign to play cowardly tricks on each other. How can I possibly condone such behavior?
We should fight all of our foes head on.
Oh? Halloween is not a military drill?
But then why would we have to get into a disguise and ambush unsuspecting targets?
Agh! Looks like my crew pulled one over on their commander!

2

Last year I didn't have very positive feelings about this day of celebration.
But... I've realized that everyone—children and adults alike—truly enjoy the activities that happen on this day.
I think I looked too deeply into the meaning of trick-or-treat and just overreacted.
I was just raining on everyone's parade...
I'm glad that didn't happen again. Last year you helped me understand the true meaning of Halloween. Thank you.
Enough of that. Let's make the most of this wonderful day of the year!

3

All right then, (Captain)! Are you ready?
Trick or treat!
How was that? Did I pull it off?
Really? I'm relieved to hear you say that. It's all thanks to you drilling me.
Wait, what do you mean, "this isn't a drill?" You don't have any candy? That means I have to prank you?
I have to prank you?
N-no! I could never!
I mean, between the two of us, I'd much rather be on the receiving end!

Happy Holidays Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Heh heh. It sure is quiet tonight, (Captain).
On a night like this, two people illuminated only by candlelight...
It's the perfect setting for drills.
Haha, I'm just kidding.
I must thank you for letting me in your crew, (Captain).
It's my fondest wish to spend another peaceful holiday evening like this with you.
Next year, the year after, and so on.
Have a wonderful evening.

2

On certain islands, I hear this holy night is dedicated to... L-lovers...
Have you ever... spent time with a lover on this holiest of nights?
I... I'm sorry. Forgive me. I don't mean to be so prying. What am I thinking...
You have my deepest apologies, (Captain). Please forget my question!
Agh... I will never be able to live up to my father's legacy if I'm so busy worrying about such trite matters.
Curses to these superfluous thoughts! Will I ever be free from pondering such silly things?
I'm sorry, (Captain). I need to clear my mind of such thoughts. To do so, I will be going for a run!

3

Um... (Captain)? Forgive me for asking this out of the blue, but...
Do you have any plans today?
Really? Great! Then let's spend the day together!
I keep thinking about the tradition of spending this day with the person you love...
Someday I might be in a position to do that... So I have to prepare!
Ah, wait, no! I shouldn't burden you with such a selfish request!
Agh... My impure thoughts have gotten the better of me once again!
(Captain), I've changed my mind! I want you to spend today training with me!
We'll train until my mind is as pure as the driven snow!

The Agents' Head Honcho[edit]

The island on which our heroes landed was quite far off the beaten path. There they met Herja, the top boss of an agent group. She'd once belonged to a family, a family consumed by their hunger for glory. They'd been scattered and Herja dreamed fiercely to one day see their faces again. She set out on a journey, hoping not for marriage but for strict discipline.

On one island, since time immemorial, each generation of the governing clan stood to inherit a cherished primal crystal.
The party had followed the rumor to an island. The welcome they found was less than gentle.
Iron Spear Agent 1: Oi! Hold it right there!
Vyrn: Hm? Not sure I like where this is going...
Vyrn: Aaah! What the hell are you doing?! Watch it with that thing!
Iron Spear Agent 1: Why you little! Nimble, aren't you! Stand still! Geez!
Vyrn: I'll stand still when you listen! We're not-
Iron Spear Agent 2: Why, you little- They day will never come when the mighty Iron Spear is bested by some lizard!
Vyrn: Aw, screw you! Who the hell are you calling a lizard?!
Herja: This seems to be quite the event... care to fill me in?
Iron Spear Agent 2: Ah! Sister Herja! We found these idiots trying to sneak into town.
Herja: Take a good look. The care they pay to their equipment... the abundant magical power...
Herja: If they wanted to break into town, we'd not have had much say in the matter.
Iron Spear Agent 2: !!!
Vyrn: Yup, yup... you got a good head on your shoulders, sister.
Herja: Dear travelers. Forgive my agents for their poor manners. I am Herja, commander of the Iron Spear.
Herja: We rarely see visitors on our little island.
Lyria: Oh... um! We heard that there might be a family here that knows about primal crystals...
Herja: . . !
Vyrn: Wait. Do you know something about that?
Herja: I believe the family you seek is none other than my own. But...
It seemed a storm cloud hung over Herja as she began to speak.
Herja's clan had not only nobility and history, but an unquenchable thirst for glory.
Herja's father had been their leader. No sooner had he died than the family descended into bloody chaos, squabbling over the inheritance. When the dust settled, they'd all been scattered to the four winds.
Herja: I'd been driven out at a young age. The only things I took with me were my father's lessons in the sword.
Herja: As to the legendary crystal? I can't say...
Lyria: Oh, my...
Herja: I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Vyrn: So... you've been on your own every since, huh?
Herja: Please. You need not look so glum. In time I found a new family. My agents...
Iron Spear Agent 1: !!! S-Sister Herja!
Iron Spear Agent 2: Ah... it's as the commander says. But that's all the more reason we understand.
Iron Spear Agent 2: You... don't you want to see your real family again, Sister?
Herja: I... well...
Lyria: I know! Maybe if we can find that crystal we can find your family...
Lyria: Would you come with us? I know I'd feel much better having you around!
Lyria: And you're not the only one who's trying to find someone.
Lyria: Right, (Captain)?
  1. Lend us your strength
  2. We'll find our families. Together.

Choose: Lend us your strength
Herja: I see... you... your family...

Choose: We'll find our families. Together.
Herja: If you wouldn't mind... I'll be happy to join you!
Continue 1
Vyrn: Awesome! That's what I like to hear! Let's head out! Get whatever you need and let's go!
Herja: Yes!
Iron Spear Agent 1: Excuse me, travelers... I forgot to mention... sister Herja is quite, erm, strict in her training...
Herja: Thank you for waiting!
Vyrn: What?! Th-that's a lot of stuff...
Herja: Practice sword, training dummy, weights, and armor.
Herja: You want to be strong? Then train every day. My father taught me that. I'm sure you'll be joining me?
Vyrn: Hah... haha...(dang it, (Captain)...)
Herja's family in arms had gathered to see her off as she sailed with her new friends into the great, big sky.
From the tip of her sword to the depths of her heart, she hoped that on one of those islands her family would be waiting for her...

The Soft-Hearted Swordswoman[edit]

Herja acts as a mediator for the agents arguing in town. The agents are all Herja’s former agents. They argument flared up due to their repeated failures to hunt down monsters. (Captain) and company are suddenly roped in to help with the request. That was when the monsters appeared.

On the journey, (Captain) and company head to the island where monsters had started appearing close to the towns.
Vyrn: Hey! For a town that’s supposed to be threatened by monsters, it seems kind of peaceful, don’t you think?
Rackam: It’s not just monsters, but ruffians exist everywhere! Look at the town square.
Herja: It’s a fight... It seems that they are hired agents. I suppose they're among those who were hired to hunt the monsters in town.
Vyrn: Oh? How did you know they were agents?! I thought they were just a bunch of hooligans fighting!
Herja: I used to be like them. They're fighting amongst themselves...
Herja: Full grown men being a nuisance in public is shameful!
Rackam: Leave them alone! It’s best to not get involved... Hey, Herja!
Rackam: She’s gone... Gah. We have to go stop her, (Captain)!
Herja: You lot! Enough with the arguing. You’re causing trouble for the townsfolk.
Iron Spear Agent: What?! You don’t know what you’re talking about... What the...?! I-It’s you, H-Herja! M-Ma’am!
Herja: Oh my! Oh, it’s you guys. What happened? Why are you fighting here?
Iron Spear Agent: Well... We were tasked with hunting some monsters, but we ran into some trouble... And everyone is on edge...
Rackam: Say, (Captain)... Who is that lady? She managed to put down all those ruffians.
Vyrn: Umm... Herja is a former agent... Although I think she was originally of noble birth.
Rackam: Really? A former aristocrat on top of being a former agent. What’s her deal?! Well, to each their own, I guess.
Herja: I found out why they were fighting. They were arguing over why their monster hunting was not going well.
Herja: (Captain), I’m sorry, but would you please assist them in hunting the monsters?
Vyrn: Not a problem! (Captain) would never forsake your former buddies, Herja!
Herja: Thank you. Now let’s get started and find where the monsters are appearing.
Rackam: Looks like that won’t be necessary. The monsters are here on their own.
Iron Spear Agent: Hey... They got to the middle of the town! They’re not normal monsters! They’re terribly strong!
Herja: It’s fine. Leave it to (Captain) and it’ll be fine. You people go and help the townsfolk.

The Soft-Hearted Swordswoman: Scene 2[edit]

The party fended off the monsters attacking the town. In order to destroy the source, they head out to their nest deep in the forest. Finding the monsters nesting near the rocky area, (Captain) and company make a preemptive attack.

Herja: Still... If you can’t even defeat monsters of that caliber, have you been skipping your regular training?
Iron Spear Agent: Well... Ever since you left us, we just don’t feel motivated, ma’am.
Herja: What do you mean?! This is a good opportunity. I’ll train you all!
Iron Spear Agent: Hooray! We get to be trained by Herja! I’m so happy!
Rackam: What’s going on over there? They’re happy getting beat down by Herja... Wait, never mind that...
Rackam: Hey, (Captain)... That’s a monster that lives in the forest. If you don’t rid them of the source, they’ll just appear again.
Vyrn: Yeah. We’re already involved! So we might as well stamp out the monster’s nest anyway!
Vyrn: Sis! I think you should stop giving them pleasure for now, so we can go crush the monster’s nest!
Herja: Men. That’s enough for today. Do not skip out on your training from now on.
Iron Spear Agent: Yeah! Yes, ma’am!
Vyrn: Wow! They’re kind of horrible... (Captain)! Let’s hurry to the forest!
Herja: Looks like that rocky area is the nest of the monsters. The presence of the monsters has gotten much stronger.
Vyrn: This is terrible... It looks a lot more dangerous than I thought. Are you okay, (Captain)?
Herja: Knowing (Captain), you haven’t skipped training at all, so I’m not the least bit worried.
Vyrn: Haha! (Captain) is getting embarrassed!
Rackam: Crap... Hey, I keep up with my training, too! I-I’m serious! N-No need for extra training...
Herja: Haha. I’m not doubting you. I fully trust those who belong to the skyfarers.
Rackam: Y-Yeah! (I better train starting next time... )
Vyrn: Wahahahahahahahaha! It’s probably better if you get trained by Herja once, Rackam! I think it’ll be funny!
Vyrn: Uh-oh... Looks like the monsters spotted us. Launch a preemptive attack!

The Soft-Hearted Swordswoman: Scene 3[edit]

After destroying the monster’s den, the party returns to town. There, Rackam compliments Herja as she is well-respected by the agents. Reacting too much to Rackam’s words, Herja falls for him. Unfitting for her military prowess, she has the delicate heart of a maiden.

Vyrn: All done! Now the monsters won’t be appearing anymore.
Herja: I thank you, (Captain). I’m sure the men have learned their lesson and will now continue their regular training.
Iron Spear Agent: You were a big help... I don’t know how to thank you guys. We’ll never forget this!
Iron Spear Agent: To tell you the truth, we’re always worried about Herja... But if she’s with you, we’re okay with that!
Herja: What do you mean? I’ve never made you worry over me even once.
Iron Spear Agent: Well... We’re kind of like family to you. Of course we’d be worried.
Herja: Hah... I suppose. I’m the same.
Rackam: Really? She’s strong, loved by her subordinates, and never spares any effort.
Rackam: I’m so happy such a nice woman is on our side! Right?! (Captain)!
Herja: Nice... woman...? R-Rackam! Not in public! I don’t know how to react when you show your feelings like that...
Herja: Well, if you go that far... Rackam, I suppose I... Well...
Vyrn: Hmm? Something’s wrong with Herja! What’s happened?!
Herja: Oh, no... Having these impure thoughts will negatively affect my sword!
Herja: Rackam... I’m sorry, but stop chasing after me! It pains me, too! I-I’ll be returning to the now!
Rackam: Huh? What? She... what?!
Iron Spear Agent: Uh oh... That's her weakness! She has a soft heart and falls for people easily...
Iron Spear Agent: But it’s fine! She’ll cry out something about training, and once she starts swinging her sword, she'll forget about it in no time!
Rackam: Y-Yeah! Seriously...? It’s not like I let her get to me or anything! No, really!
(Captain) and company is seen off by the agents, and they return to Herja. There, Herja was swinging her sword, trying to rid herself of impure thoughts.
Herja’s heart of a maiden has run its course, and now she is back to normal.
Herja will fall in love again in the next town, but that’s a tale for another time.
