Character Quotes

Opponent SideDialogue is based on which side the character is facing. In a mirror match the following order goes from P2 to P1. Dialogue
Mirror match P2 Is that... my shadow? Not the most encouraging of omens, is it...
P1 Step forth. I'll finish you... Impostor.
Gran P2 Id: Over in 90 seconds.
Gran: Oh yeah? Go ahead and try, Id!
Lyria: Don't push yourself, okay?
Vyrn: You got this!
Gran: Right!
P1 Vyrn: Listen, I get that Id is tough... But you're tougher!
Lyria: Id, please!
Gran: We both need to move on. I can't back down!
Id: I won't back down either.
Djeeta P2 Id: If it's you I'm facing, then it's fine if I go all out, right?
Djeeta: Of course you can—but only if I get to too!
Vyrn: You can do it!
Lyria: Just be careful!
Djeeta: You know it!
P1 Vyrn: Another round with Id? Feels like you guys could go at it forever.
Lyria: Who should I cheer for?
Djeeta: We're allies now, so don't hold back!
Id: I can see a path forward now. It's all thanks to you, and the rest of the crew.
Katalina P2 Id: My goal? Protect you all. The sky, Lyria, the crew—all of you.
Katalina: To raise my sword along yours for those in need... I couldn't ask for a finer ally.
P1 Katalina: Are you a picky eater? If you're open to it, I'd love to cook you a special welcome meal—just say the word after we're done here.
Id: Lyria said your cooking was "interesting." But, uh... Is that a good thing?
Charlotta P2 Id: Harvins are not to be taken lightly.
Charlotta: Indeed... You speak the truth!
I am the proud captain of the Lumiel Order—prepare to witness swordsmanship worthy of my title!
P1 Charlotta: A-ahem! It was never my intention to simply observe from this lofty perch. Sir Id! Prepare yourself for an honorable duel!
Id: As I recall... That's the same box you used to stand on in Zegagrande. You sure take care of your things.
Lancelot P2 Id: Speed alone won't do much to distract me.
Lancelot: Your blade rivals Siegfried’s in size. But no matter its reach, I intend to find its weakness.
P1 Lancelot: An invitation from you to train is a rare honor, Id. I just hope it doesn't interfere with your duties.
Id: Not in the slightest. (Actually, cleaning your room is far more demanding.)
Percival P2 Id: Bring your fire. I'll cut right through it.
Percival: Your spirit burns hot. But can it outlast the flame of a king? We'll see soon enough. Now, come.
P1 Percival: The dark fire once consumed you, yet now you fight for the skies. Such a path to redemption... is not so easily trod.
Id: I know, but I'll keep walking it just the same. All I can do.
Ladiva P2 Id: Growing up, my "mother" used me for her ambitions. Perhaps this duel could show me what real love should look like.
Ladiva: I see... I heard that the Astral Lilith was the one who raised you. If your feelings ever get too heavy... Lay them on me... I'm here for you!
P1 Ladiva: There's really nothing I could say that would heal the terrible pain you went through, Id... Dry your eyes... Let your light shine! Come on! It's dueling time!
Id: Never thought fighting could be fun... You've opened my eyes once again, Ladiva. Of the many lessons you've taught me, this one somehow feels bigger.
Metera P2 Id: You use the same flying magic as Maggie. And just as masterful, I see.
Metera: I wonder which one of us does it better? Me... or your little Maggie?
P1 Metera: Hmm... Oh, how tempting... Someone as brooding as you is just begging for a softer touch.
Id: My sole purpose is to protect these skies and my allies. Why a softer touch?
Lowain P2 Id: You three communicate on a higher wavelength than anyone else in these skies. Io's been bugging me, so got any pointers?
Tomoi: Eh?
Elsam: Wait.
Lowain: Hold up.
Lowain: No one does it better? Whoa...
Elsam: Is he for real? For real for real?
Tomoi: I didn't even think Io recognized our game like that, bro.
Lowain: Well, boys... We can't leave the Id man hangin', am I right? One optimal super ultimate lingo combo, coming right up!
The Bros: Wahey to the hey!
P1 Tomoi: Zega...
Elsam: Grande!
Lowain: Party of one from the western skies! Glad you could join us for the Rising fiesta, Id—now if you're tryin' to get down and throw down, gimme a "wahey!"
Id: Rising fiesta? Is that some sort of festival?
Ferry P2 Id: Can you tell if my blade is worthy of protecting the crew? You seem to look after your own, after all.
Ferry: Don't worry, he might look scary, but he's not a bad guy. Now show me your strength... We're ready for you, Id!
P1 Ferry: When we stand together, not even dragons can scare us. We may be small, but together we're fearless!
Id: I've trained countless hours to fight multiple foes at once. Those foes weren't ghosts though... So we'll see.
Zeta P2 Id: I'm used to fighting a strong spearhand.
Zeta: Not mine, I bet. My technique involves more than brute strength. You'd better stay on your toes!
P1 Zeta: Don't bother holding back, all right? I can handle anything you throw at me! Let's do this thing!
Id: Fair enough. We'll do it your way.
Vaseraga P2 Id: Zeta keeps on telling me I fight just as vicious as you do, but... I don't know.
Vaseraga: We'll have to see for ourselves, won't we? If that's true, there might be something we could learn here.
P1 Vaseraga: The draconic power within you... Let's hope it's something we don't need to worry about anymore.
Id: If I lose control, I trust that you'll have the good sense to take my head with that scythe. Actually, I'm counting on it.
Narmaya P2 Id: She's sleeping? I don't have the heart to startle her awake... Ah, got it!
Narmaya: Huh... Is someone there? I wasn't sleeping—you must believe me!
P1 Narmaya: A new start... I'm aware you've shown the captain your resolve. Shall we test it?
Id: Yeah... I'm ready.
Soriz P2 Id: You don't seem to be a practitioner of the Eternal Rage Style... but there sure are a lot of scary old-timers in Phantagrande.
Soriz: Ooh! It's an honor to be mentioned alongside a legendary style! You know just how to get my blood pumpin'!
P1 Soriz: Hey, found ya! I've been itching to try out this new technique... Wouldn't be open to going another few rounds with me, would ya?
Id: I'll take any request that comes my way. That means we can go as many rounds as you'd like.
Zooey P2 Id: I swear it—to use this power to preserve the balance of the skies.
Zooey: If you have the will and courage, then our goals are aligned. In time your wings may truly become a force... For balance!
P1 Zooey: The wing of eminence that manifested in the forgotten skydom of the west... So you are its vessel. Come. Let us test your strength.
Id: Very well. But I'll show you who I really am beyond the brute strength.
Cagliostro P2 Id: I refuse to be a part of your so-called "research."
Cagliostro: You big meanie, you're gonna make Cagliostro cry... Really. You're a big boy, aren't you? I promise I'll be gentle. Just leave it to the adorable alchemist extraordinaire!
P1 Cagliostro: Mister Fix-Id! Got a request for you. Think you could transform for me? All I want is one teensy scale!
Id: No.
Yuel P2 Id: To dance while fighting... It's almost awe-inspiring that you can pull that off.
Yuel: Is that s'posed to be your way of sizing me up? Well, you got one thing right—I am awesome!
P1 Yuel: That ain't it either... Howdy, howdy, Id! I've been prowling for some rare prismatic slime, but... Reckon they're real? 'Cause something that colorful almost sounds like a tall tale, don't it?
Id: No, it's more like they don't nest in a place like this.
Anre P2 Id: You're that Eternal... Anre, right? Are you here to measure my integrity?
Anre: I've heard stories about the mysterious draconic power within you from Seofon. Such extraordinary strength demands unwavering resolve. So let us see now... if you are worthy.
P1 Anre: You've embraced the burden of your past and chosen the path of atonement. It is not an easy journey, to be sure, but I will pray for your strength and perseverance.
Id: I swore to protect these skies. Come what may, I intend to keep that promise.
Eustace P2 Id: You won't win if I'm faster than your lightning.
Eustace: I wasn't aware you were one for jokes. Care to test that theory?
P1 Eustace: Melee would be a bad idea... I'll stay back.
Id: Lightning should be easy enough to navigate—all those drills with the tayu'itar are coming in handy now.
Seox P2 Id: The Eternals. Tales of your exploits echo across Zegagrande.
Seox: A general of Avia... Well, let's see if your blade lives up to the stories.
P1 Seox: I take it you're not the type to wear your heart on your sleeve? Fine by me!
Id: You're not exactly an open book yourself.
Vira P2 Id: Yeah. I won't deny my past. What I did to Katalina, to the crew... Unforgivable.
Vira: Yes, I'm quite aware. As such, we have nothing more to discuss. If you wish to explain yourself, you may do so in combat. Have at you!
P1 Vira: Katalina's kindness is one of her many charms, but I have no intention of sharing such kindness with you. I do hope you'll humor me.
Id: I was hoping you'd let me explain, but... It can wait.
Anila P2 Id: Twelve divine generals... Does that mean four times the power of the three Avia generals?
Anila: I think you might've misunderstood something... Well, we can all certainly handle ourselves, if that's what you mean!
P1 Anila: Wow, Id... It seems you're truly free of kleshas. Just knowing this brings me great peace. It's truly wonderful!
Id: Hmm... And that's a good thing?
Siegfried P2 Id: No need for ceremony... Ready?
Siegfried: Indeed. Let our blades do the talking.
P1 Siegfried: So you, too, carry the weight of a dragon's might... That's no easy burden, friend.
Id: Yeah... But some you have to carry.
Grimnir P2 Id: A wind that could even rival—no, surpass Furycane. That's impressive.
Grimnir: Indeed! For I am the Mad Cyclone, Griiimniiir! The scar that rends the skies—the forbidden tempest! Now spread thy wings... And face the storm!
P1 Grimnir: I hear you go by Mister Fix-Id these days, but... Don't you find it a bit too simple, hm? Why not... Spice it up a bit?
Id: The name wasn't my idea.
Nier P2 Id: Indeed... I once turned my sword on the captain. But, that doesn't explain why you've been so keen to hear my story.
Nier: I need to learn... about you and your past... And that way, I... That way I can finally move on... So please...
P1 Nier: Gran and Djeeta... They're... Irreplaceable... to me...
Id: I know how irreplaceable they are. Trust me, I will protect them with my life.
Beelzebub P2 Id: Your malice is almost palpable. Yeah... You're vile.
Beelzebub: In terms of raw strength, perhaps you're an even greater threat. All the more reason to bury you in the depths of Pandemonium!
P1 Beelzebub: Your power... Why not wield it in service of the one true king? Prove yourself useful to my dominion, or perish and be forgotten.
Id: No thanks. Been there, and I won't be used again. Now I bleed only for allies who would bleed with me.
Belial P2 Id: So it's you... The one who posted this strange request. The captain warned me multiple times not to accept it.
Belial: Oops... What gave it away? Haha! Well then, you primed and ready? Let's see if you're as unbreakable as they say... Hahaha!
P1 Belial: Come on... Do I look like someone who would lie to you? I've even given a weapon to your little captain, you know? So why don't you introduce me to the crew? I'm sure we would get along swimmingly...
Id: Sorry, Captain told me to plug my ears around you.
Avatar Belial P2 Id: So it's you... The one who posted this strange request. The captain warned me multiple times not to accept it.
Avatar Belial: Oh, and what about it? Honestly, you really ought to start thinking for yourself one of these days. Just pathetic!
P1 Avatar Belial: You wield the power to utterly destroy everything... Something tells me you'd have more fun with it on our team.
Id: Sorry, Captain told me to plug my ears around you.
Lucilius P2 Id: At last. Sandalphon has told me much about the king of fallen angels.
Lucilius: Oh? Has god found another hound? A pitiful vessel, if anything. You will not impede me.
P1 Lucilius: Lilith has lost control of this vessel? Clearly she failed to handle her burdens.
Id: Failed to handle her burdens? Mother doesn't control my life... Only I do.
2B P2 Id: It's become clear you're not from the Sky Realm. So how did you get here?
Pod 042: Further details unknown.
2B: Code Name: Twilit Blade. No known weaknesses. Initiating combat mode.
P1 Pod 042: Activating short range attack gear. Further details unknown.
2B: He's clearly a threat—approaching could be risky.
Id: She's wary of me. But judging from her stance... This isn't going to be an easy fight.
Vane P2 Id: It's no small order to break through your defenses. Any pointers for me?
Vane: Yeah, you say that... But your attacks always bring me to the breaking point. Just gotta make sure I match you blow for blow! 'Kay! Let's do this!
P1 Vane: Gallanza's running regimen was killer. But now that I'm all warmed up, let's get down to business!
Id: Fine. I just finished myself. You ready? Let's see which one of us can last longer.
Beatrix P2 Id: So your sword feeds on adversity? I wouldn't mind a closer look myself.
Beatrix: The bond between Embrasque and I is nothing short of a miracle—all there is to it!
P1 Beatrix: So Id, my man... You were part of Avia, right? Does that mean you use mind powers to make swords fly around?
Id: I'm afraid not. That sounds like the secret art taught only within Maggie's fellowship.
Versusia P2 Id: I was given this power. Time I used its full potential.
Versusia: You stand before destruction. Such fleeting sentiments will not serve you.
P1 Versusia: Vessel of eminence. I have made my descent; you are no longer needed. Let us release you from this suffering.
Id: Destruction... will have to wait!
Vikala P2 Id: ...
Vikala: Wh-wh-why's he staring daggers at me like that? Is it because I invited him on stage? Would that make someone so angry? It's okay... I just know he'll come around! Cue... Lights! Welcome to the ratdom of Utopia, where dreams do come true! Let's see a smile, Id! Cheese!
P1 Vikala: Heya, Id! Let the good times begin! Is somebody nervous for the big show? Crack a smile, tough guy!
Id: No, I'm not nervous in the slightest. But smiling while fighting? Now that might be a hard ask.
Sandalphon P2 Id: My atonement... yet continues.
Sandalphon: Your sword ruined lives. Now let's see... if it can protect them.
P1 Sandalphon: I know all too well the resolve it takes to shoulder the past. I could help you bear the weight, if you'll let me.
Id: Sandalphon... Thank you.
Galleon P2 Id: Aren't you... a dragon yourself? Then my own powers, are they any match for you?
Galleon: Endeavor. (Don’t hold anything back... Show me every part of who you are.)
P1 Galleon: Self-Love. (You are a precious life among the skies... Never forget to be kind to yourself.)
Id: But what of the fearsome power I wield? At least tell me if my path... is correct.
Wilnas P2 Id: I know you're there, vermillion dragon. Let's get on with your trial already.
Wilnas: Cutting right to the chase, are we? Well, does your spirit blaze to protect these skies... or set them alight? Show me, show me!
P1 Wilnas: Your destructive flames burn with echoes of the Omnipotent. Come show us, that you are worthy of wielding such power! Now then... Come forth!
Id: If you insist. Test me to your heart's content.
Meg P2 Id: I've heard of your beloved Auguste. Apparently, it rivals the Conflux in its sheer number of chaotic happenings.
Mari: Hey, Meg! I—
Meg: So... Who told you these things about Auguste, exactly?
Mari: (Is this clown seriously bad-mouthing Auguste in front of me and Meg? I don't care who told him what! He's shark chum!)
Meg: We'll just have to...
Mari: Oh...
Meg: Educate you!
Mari: Okay!
P1 Meg: We're doing a show in Auguste for the kids, and... you'd make a perfect villain, Id!
Ursula: ShaShaSharrrk!
Mari: Consider this your audition—action!
Id: Hmm... I know I never really turn down any requests, but this...
Ilsa P2 Id: Couldn't ask for a better partner to help polish my technique, and they say you're the best. So do your worst, Sergeant. I insist.
Ilsa: Look, you seem nice—a bit straightforward, but I'm guessing you just haven't heard of me. That's fine. You'll learn soon enough!
P1 Ilsa: I've dealt with my share of brooding deviants, so spare me the monster pity party. You might doubt your humanity, but you're in luck. I'll straighten you out—right here!
Id: I never meant to offend. Sorry. Teach me everything you know.
Opponent Dialogue
Generic Next up... "Find my wee pincers." All right. Better stretch first. Let's move.
Well, better get back to work. Should make some progress before the requests pile up... Time to hustle.
So what's next on the docket? Might be a bit much to tackle alone... What do you say? Team up?
Gran Gran, look at these details. We could— Nah, forget it. I'm beat. Let's rest for the day.
Djeeta Djeeta, look at these details. We could— Nah, forget it. I'm beat. Let's rest for the day.
Beelzebub You're called Beelzebub? You will pay for plunging the skies into chaos. Now suffer.
Belial "Let me take you for a spin, Mr. Handyman"? So you submitted this ridiculous request then? You foul snake.
Avatar Belial
Lucilius I know you share a history with Sandalphon... But I've had enough of your apocalypse nonsense. Farewell.
Versusia Right, safely dispatched Versusia... To think a goddess like her took the captain's mom as a vessel. Tragic.
Opponent Dialogue
Mirror match When I decided to bear this dragon's power, I knew what I was doing. I'll be its vessel—so no one else has to.
Gran Meeting your crew allowed me to take my first real step forward. Mere words, I know, but... Thank you.
Djeeta All I want is for this crew to know peaceful days; and if you'll still have me, to be counted among your number—why are you laughing? What's so funny?
Katalina It's thanks to you, Katalina, that Lyria remains such a bright light in this world. I know I don't have the right to say this, but... I'm grateful.
Charlotta That righteous blade... For lack of a better description, you fight with a holy might. Is that something I could learn with enough training?
Lancelot I know Vane is eager to support you, but surely the man must have his own life. Why not employ Mr. Fix Id instead? Remember: Any job worth doing, is worth Id.
Percival I've heard your flame is a guiding beacon for the people. After feeling its warmth myself, I can understand why.
Ladiva I felt the fervent conviction in every aspect of your fighting style. Awe-inspiring, yet brutal... Love really does come in many forms.
Metera It took all of my focus to weave through your endless barrage. That magic bow is a terrifying weapon.
Lowain "Wahey! Corn is hella nutrilicious, my guys." Uh, did I get it right? I fear I may never master your... brocabulary.
Ferry I was impressed by how you and your pups covered each other. Your bond truly is one forged beyond the threshold of death.
Zeta Great round, Zeta. You and Beatrix leave it all on the battlefield—means I don't have to hold back either.
Vaseraga I understand it now. You've got your own burdens to bear, but they fuel the strength of your resolve... A powerful lesson.
Narmaya Look, back in Zega... I know I put Lyria and the captain into danger. It won't change what happened, but still... I'm sorry.
Soriz Rockfisted Soriz—a name almost as tough as its owner. Not even the strongest Avia pugilist could match your strength. The skies really are vast...
Zooey That was a fearsome battle, arbitrator... Actually, I have a friend who loves a good "deathmatch"—can't wait to tell him about you.
Cagliostro I know you just want to analyze my powers, but to offer my body to alchemy... I don't know. Hm? You want a reason? Well... Let's just call it instinct.
Yuel I've never seen swordplay like yours. It was somewhere between fighting and dancing. It was... beautiful.
Anre I'll use my power in service of the skies, but if that means the Eternals need to keep tabs on me, so be it. And by the way... tell Seofon I said hi.
Eustace Flamek is a mighty weapon—to mention nothing of your tactics. But, uh... You could try to be a little more approachable.
Seox Hope, fear, resolve... You express a lot through your fists. I won't forget this fight anytime soon.
Vira I won't ask you to understand where I'm coming from... But until we share common ground, I won't turn down a challenge from you.
Anila They say the divine generals banish kleshas. After our match, I think I get it. Yeah, I feel oddly... pure?
Siegfried Impressive, how you handle your draconic power with such resolve. But should I ever lose my way again, allow me to cross blades with you once more.
Grimnir That Gale Dash of yours seems useful. I saw something similar once in Zegagrande's deserts, but... your version would make my handyman work a cinch.
Nier Just like you, I owe much to the captain for saving me. And I don't know about you, but I'll do all I can to repay that debt.
Beelzebub Heard you crawled from the bottom of the skies... That's fine. I'll send you careening back—just give my regards to Lilith.
Belial I understand now, how truly vile you are. You make me sick—sicker than anyone I've ever met.
Avatar Belial
Lucilius Your egotistical plans are done for. These skies are under my watch. From now on... and forevermore.
2B You came from another world? Guess I'm not the only one who's been tossed around by the whims of fate. Hey, if I can help out in any way, just say the word.
Vane Damn. Fighting you reminds me of my drills with Gallanza. I worked up a pretty good sweat too. Thanks.
Beatrix I know Embrasque gets stronger with adversity, but it's your tenacity that makes it so effective.
Versusia Trust me, there's no salvation in destruction. Why don't you watch over us on our journey instead? Help us make these skies a place for hope.
Vikala I've actually been working on my smile. Here, tell me what you think. Cheeese... You look scared. Damn... What am I doing wrong?
Sandalphon I want to use these draconic powers for the good of the skies, to never lose my way again. As the Supreme Primarch, will you help me stay on this path?
Galleon The sheer magnitude of your form surpasses even that of Excavallion... These skies are vast indeed.
Wilnas I hope that this was enough proof for you—I'll never waver in protecting these skies. It's my only path forward.
Meg You think kids would actually enjoy watching me transform on stage? I'm pretty sure I'd just terrify them, but... if you insist, I'll help out in any way I can.
Ilsa You've certainly got a... colorful vocabulary, but there's a kindness behind the ferocity. I guess you really do care in your own way. Thanks, Ilsa.
