Flip Chests are gold chests typically from raid or event bosses that perform a little flip under a rainbow while playing a special sound.

While "flip chests" aren't actually special, most players primarily associate them with the very low drop rate SSR Summon/Weapon chests from Omega Raids, T1 Summon Raids, T2 Summon Raids and so on.

Some items that will cause a chest to flip are:

For most encounters the chance of getting a flip chest is increased by the various drop rate buffs a player can have, such as Status Bounty.pngBountyItem drop rate is boosted
, Tien's support skill, Journey Drop buff, Oliver's weapon skill, Septian Burner's weapon skill, Crew buffs, Summon s 2030026000.jpg White Rabbit's aura and Summon s 2040114000.jpg Kaguya's aura.

However, there are cases where a 100% drop rate chest has a chance to drop an item that will flip.
In these cases drop rate buffs do nothing as they don't affect the content of the chest, only the likelihood it'll appear.
A good example of this is chest 5 in Primarch Raids which has a 2 in 3 chance of dropping a Summon s 2040199000.jpg Seraphim Cradle which will flip and a 1 in 3 chance of dropping a Primarch Anima which won't flip.
Because of this most players pray to hear the single rainbow sound from Chest 4 since two rainbows means they probably got two Summon s 2040199000.jpg Seraphim Cradle.

Omega Raids

The two rare normal chests in the drop table for Omega Raids can flip.
If one or both drop Chest 1 can only contain an SSR Summon and Chest 2 can only contain an SSR Weapon.
The Vice-MVP gold chest can also contain an SSR Summon or Weapon and if it does it'll flip as well.

Nightmare Raids

Proto Bahamut and Grand Order switch things up a bit since they can drop rare crafting materials, which also come from a flip chest. Supreme Merit square.jpg Supreme Merits and Blue Sky Crystal square.jpg Blue Sky Crystals, unlike previous flip chests, replace normal drops (usually Champion Merit square.jpg Champion Merits) and eschew the 2% drop rate, while the Horn of Bahamut square.jpg Horn of Bahamut replaces the guaranteed Rusted Weapon drop but still has a very low drop rate.

High Level Raids

For the Omega raids, in addition to the same summons/weapons as the Extreme versions, they also have a 100% chance to drop matching-element Centrum's which always flips.

For the Tier 1 Summon raids, in addition to the same weapons as the Extreme versions, they also have a 100% chance to drop matching-element Urns, which always flip.

Showdowns and Collabs

Maniac and Nightmare bosses have a low chance to drop Urns corresponding to the boss's element in flip chests. In addition, Very Hard and above bosses can drop event Rarity SSR.png weapons and/or summons from flip chests, with higher difficulties having higher chances. The rate of event flip chests is much much higher than 2%.
