Happy Birthday Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Here's to your birthday, Captain. It's an honor to be by your side.
Together we'll see many birthdays to come, because I'll always be watching your back. I promise.

2

Happy birthday, (Captain). I'm glad to be by your side to see you get one more year under your belt.
And in order to see you through to the next birthday, I'll always be right there protecting you.
Even if the day should come when I'm unable to greet you on your birthday...
My heart will always be with you.
You're not alone, (Captain), and you never will be.

3

Happy birthday, (Captain). Glad to be able to tell you in person.
With the passing of each year, I feel as if you become ever promising.
But you've been hoarding a lot of responsibility lately. It kind of has me worried.
When I said that I'd protect you, I didn't mean just physically. I also meant your soul.
I realize there are times when there's no other choice but to bear it all, and I certainly don't want to tell you what you can or can't do.
But when you do feel overburdened, know that you can call for help. Basically what I'm saying is trust me.
Well, I know I kind of get mad at my sisters when they go overboard, but...

4

Happy birthday, (Captain). I'm glad I get to say those words to you.
You age so well every year. And become even more fit to be our captain.
I just worry as someone who has experienced what you have, whether or not you are pushing yourself too hard.
I know what it's like to put up a tough front as I ran a band of mercenaries of my own.
You must believe in yourself to lead the pack, and that requires keeping your chest held high. It also means enduring incredible stress.
While hardship can lead to personal growth, it can impede when a person takes on too much.
You must learn to depend on, and call on, us for help. I know that for someone as strong as you are that might be difficult.
All around you are people you can rely on. Should there ever come a time when you are unsure of yourself or unhappy with anything, lean on us.
We are here to watch over you... To help you. Please... never forget.

5

Happy birthday, (Captain). I'm so happy that I can celebrate this special day with you again.
We've been traveling together for quite a while now, haven't we?
You were always someone I could depend on... And now, you've really become a trustworthy captain and skyfarer.
I'm sure you have things you feel you can't tell others about, and worries that even adults have...
I'm not saying that you should tell me all of them. You're free to say or hide whatever you want, of course.
And that's exactly why I'll do my best to make sure you'll always have the space and freedom to think and reflect inside yourself.
I'll be here to protect you whenever you encounter hardships and trials, (Captain).
That's the least I can do. I hope we can celebrate many more birthdays together from here on out.

Happy New Year Cutscenes

1

Happy New Year.
I'm happy to be ringing in the new year with you, (Captain). Let's focus our attention on the future ahead.

2

Happy New Year! Did you catch the sunrise this morning?
Me? I'm on my way out for target practice.
Call me obsessed, but missing even a single day ruins my week.
If I'm going to keep covering your back, then I have to keep my aim sharp.
Hm? You don't have to come with me. You should enjoy the day off... Well if you insist, I could use another pair of eyes. Thanks, (Captain).

3

Happy New Year, (Captain). We made it through another one.
I'll be ever more vigilant in providing cover for you and everyone else.
The start of a new year is the perfect time to refocus one's concentration.
It's not that I'm not focused on any other day but just saying it aloud strengthens the resolve.
As always, I'll see you through any hardships on your journey.

4

Happy New Year, (Captain). Here's to another with you.
I know the year just started, but I'll need to be on my way.
Yes, I'm going to train. There's quite a bit of snow, and these conditions are perfect.
We never know when or what will come our way.
To protect you all, I have to do everything in my power to become stronger.
With any luck, I'll catch something good, and we'll have a wonderful dinner together.
So... here I go.

5

(Captain), would you like some more tea? Ah, yes. Now I remember. I've got some pears. I could go get them and peel—
You're right. Cucouroux, Camieux, I'm sorry. I did promise to let loose today.
But... Is it really such a good idea to do absolutely nothing? On the first day of the year?
You know, they say you should plan the year ahead on New Year's Day. How about this? I won't go out, but I'll exercise, just a— N-no? All right...
I know that you two are right. It's important to rest, but I can't help but feel like I should be doing something.
Well... Yes, you have a point. If I keep running around like this, (Captain) won't be able to relax.
All right. For (Captain)'s sake, I'll try to settle down...
What? If I keep thinking like this, I'll never be able to let loose? I-I wasn't aware of that.

Valentine's Day Cutscenes

1

Happy Valentine's Day! Good work as always. I'd like you to have this since you're always watching my back.
I want you to raise your stamina by enjoying these sweets. Sometimes it's absolutely necessary to take a step back and rest.

2

Is now a good time, (Captain)? Great, thank you.
I know it's not much, but I'd like you to have this.
It's for your hard work. Well, it's actually deeper than that. More like feelings of gratitude. You're always watching my back, after all.
By the way, do you prefer something that's a little... flashier? Not really? I see. That's a relief.
I don't know why I'm so nervous all of a sudden. Huh? What do you mean my face is all red?
Look, it's not nice to tease me like that. I just got a little emotional, that's all.

3

(Captain)... Um... Happy Valentine's Day.
Mm, that's not really "me," is it? Let me start over.
Ahem. This is from me to you, with my appreciation and all.
It's a physical representation of the respect and gratitude that I feel toward you everyday.
Words and expressions are not part of my arsenal.
But sometimes I think I do manage to tell you exactly what I mean to say. That pretty much covers it.

4

(Captain), these are for you. Yes, they're Valentine's Day gifts.
This and this... That's right, I got you two things. I couldn't just pick one, so...
This one lasts quite a while and can easily be taken on the go. I recommend eating this as a source of nourishment when you find yourself in difficult circumstances.
Now for the second one... Isn't this wrapping lovely? I hear the chocolate is very tasty as well.
I saw it in a shop and wanted to get it for you.
(Captain)... I know that many respect and care for you, so you'll be receiving a great deal of presents today.
Therefore giving you two gifts instead of one might lead to waste, but I just couldn't make up my mind.
Thank you for accepting my gifts. I'm happy so long as you are.

5

Happy Valentine's, (Captain). These chocolates are for you. They're quite good, apparently.
If you have time, would you like some tea? I just got my hands on a tin of leaves; they have this wonderful fragrance that would go well with chocolate.
Hehe. All right, then let me go heat up some water. Oh, and remember the chocolates from last year? I still have some left, so let's finish them up.
Actually, I've prepared a fresh batch of emergency chocolates; they're very rich in nutrients. Take a few with you.
I mean, I would rather you never find yourself in a dangerous situation. And I'm here to make sure you stay safe.
But for skyfarers and snipers, danger is part of the job. It's better to be safe than sorry.
What am I saying? It's Valentine's. Sorry. Just... Being a sniper makes you overly cautious, you know?
But... It is true that I pray for your safety every single day... From the bottom of my heart.

White Day Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Happy White Day! The girls at the gun workshop gave me some chocolates on Valentine's Day.
It's kind of late, but I wanted to return the favor with cookies. I think I baked too many though. Would you like one?

2

What is it? Do we have something to discuss?
A present? For me?
Hmm. Ah, sorry. No, I really do appreciate it.
I just never expected to get anything from you. I'm speechless.
Thank you. Even the box is quite nice. I'll set it on the shelf next to my tea collection.

3

You're giving me these desserts, (Captain)?
I'm sorry. Did my valentine cause you to do this?
Is that so? Well, as long as you enjoyed the sweets I gave you, it was worth it.
But above all else, I'm thankful for this gift you've given me. I won't let it go to waste.
Knowing that you're thinking of me, it's hard to describe how happy I feel other than... very happy.

4

Is this a White Day present for me?
Thank you, (Captain). Are you doing this just to repay my Valentine's gift?
No? You aren't?
You're happy so long as I am? I see... I suppose that's what gifts are for.
I'm, sorry... I really am happy about this though. It's just...
I'm not one to smile and show my happiness openly. Things like this... embarrass me.
You want me to express my feelings of joy?
Stop that, (Captain). You're making me blush even more. Let me keep some of my pride, won't you...

5

(Captain)... Thank you. This is a lovely White Day's gift—though you really didn't need to.
Er... Well, I certainly can't start jumping for joy. I am an adult, after all.
But... I really am happy. It's all I can do to keep my face from flushing.
Oh, I don't know... I suppose I just don't want my emotions to hold sway over me. Adults are meant to simply accept things—calmly.
But that isn't easy when it comes to you. Camieux often calls me a perfect adult, but that's not true.
Well, when someone important to you lets you know that you're also important to them... Your heart starts pounding. It's embarrassing, but...
All right, stop it. Why is it only at times like these you start acting like a child? Asking one question after another...
Haven't you ever heard the saying "Speech is silver, silence is gold?" Don't ask what I mean by... important... Please...

Trick or Treat Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Happy Halloween!
It warms my heart to see the children having so much fun playing dress-up.
What? Why don't I wear one too? Well, it's kind of embarrassing...

2

Both the town and the Grandcypher are so lively today. Seeing all these children having a blast—it really warms my heart.
Back when I lived at the workshop, I would bring little Cucouroux and Camieux out to get candy.
Yes, we all dressed up together. Why do you ask?
Me dressing up at my age? Y-you can't be serious!

3

Happy Halloween, (Captain)! I see you're fully engrossed in Halloween spirit.
Oops! That was close. I almost fell for your trick there.
Hehe, thanks to Cucouroux, I've trained myself not to fall prey to most attempts at trickery.
It'd be troublesome to be caught in your trap. I think we can come to an understanding with some candy.
Now go out and have some fun, but don't eat too many sweets, okay?

4

You had me worried, Camieux. Come now, smile a little.
Hm? Oh, it's you, (Captain).
What am I doing? Haha. Camieux is a little shaken up about a prank that Cucouroux pulled on her.
She came to me looking for a safe haven.
Are you okay, Camieux?
Really? I'm glad to see you've calmed down a little.
I know something that might lift your spirits—what if we play a prank on Cucouroux? Will you help us, (Captain)?
It's Halloween after all. We shouldn't just be the victims of pranks; we should play them too.
Thank you, (Captain). We really appreciate your help.
All right. Let's start strategizing. (Captain), do you have any ideas?
Hahaha! That sounds fun! Camieux, what do you say? Come on, join us.

5

It's so lively everywhere during the Halloween season—just looking at all the festivities gets me excited.
Hehe. The horns and accessories that Cucouroux and Mama Gunsmith made for you really suit you.
Yeah, they made some for me too, so I'll be putting mine on as well. Hehe, we all match.
Oh, could you wait a little while before asking trick-or-treat?
Camieux and I are just about to head into town to get some treats.
We're gonna get some really cute and delicious ones, so look forward to them... Huh?
If you say trick-or-treat now, then you'll get to play a trick on me for sure?
W-what! (Captain)! You can't tease grown-ups like that!

Happy Holidays Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Season's greetings. I may not be as young as I once was, but whenever the holidays roll around I still get so excited.
Can I add something to the tree?

2

Even though snow presents a danger to snipers, I can't help but enjoy the holiday weather.
Falling in a soft patter all around, surrounding you like kind comrades in a bunker...
Hehe. Maybe I just have an overactive imagination.
I wonder if it will snow this year... If it doesn't, prepare to begin Operation Deck the Halls with Fake Snow.

3

This island is ready for the holiday festivities. Santa Claus must be busy too.
Speaking of Santa, that reminds me of something Cucouroux said when she was a little girl.
She'd asked Santa for a big sister and a little sister.
Then one day Camieux came along, and I ended up staying with the gunsmiths as well. Essentially her wish came true.
When Cucouroux grew a little older, she apologized to me.
She said it was because of her wish to Santa that I couldn't go back to my hometown.
That wasn't the case at all though. That's the kindness of the girl I call my precious sister.

4

Hello, (Captain). So I made it in time for dinner. What a relief.
Cucouroux said she would send a gift to the gunsmiths for the holidays.
So I sent a card to them and to my parents.
I never thought I would be able to speak with my mother and father again. It's almost like a dream.
When Mephorash was sealed, I had no idea whether they were safe or not...
My home was saved thanks to you, (Captain).
Thank you... (Captain)... With all my heart...

5

(Captain), I'm back. Yes, I was just at the gun workshop.
My parents came to visit. It was nice seeing them again. Today's a holiday—back on the island where the workshop is, I mean—so thanks for letting me take time off.
I... wouldn't go so far as to call this a gift, but I got you a simple souvenir. Here, it's black tea and an island specialty.
Hehe. The container is adorable, isn't it? That shop always changes the design of its tins to match the seasons. This is their winter design.
Back when I lodged at the gun workshop, I would always go to that shop, just for their containers.
I'd also have tea parties with Cucouroux and Camieux, and we'd use these leaves... Hehe. We always had such a good time.
Perhaps I should hold another tea party soon. I could invite Cucouroux, Camieux, and Tweyen.
And, if you have time, (Captain), I'd like for you to come as well. There'll be delicious sweets to go with the tea, I promise.

Start of a Sparkling Summer

Dan follows the crew on their trip to Auguste to take care of some foundry business. When Silva is frolicking with everyone on the beach, he is greatly relieved to see her taking reprieve from being on constant alert all the time.

(Captain)'s crew is on its way to the resort isles of Auguste for some summer shenanigans.
The airship is also carrying a guest who had asked (Captain) for a favor.
Uncle Dan: Sigh...
Despite the allure of a summer getaway, the passenger looks about as excited as a cat awaiting a bath. His name is Dan, and he's in charge of the alloy foundry.
Cucouroux: ...
Cucouroux: Geez...
Dan's nieces, Cucouroux and Camieux, look at their sullen uncle with concern.
Vyrn: Aw c'mon. Get it together, Dan! We're almost in Auguste!
Uncle Dan: Unh... Don't you know what that means? All that delicious local food and drink...
Uncle Dan: I dunno if I've got the willpower to do my job without giving in to temptation.
Camieux: No! You're not quitting before we even get there! Everyone at the foundry will be mad if you go back now!
Uncle Dan: Blah... Usually the veteran craftsmen watch my back, but this time I'm on my own.
Cucouroux: That's because they're the ones who gave you this job! It means they believe in you!
Cucouroux: And you're gonna own that responsibility and do it right. Have a little confidence in yourself, Uncle Dan.
Uncle Dan: Sigh... Yeah, guess I wouldn't wanna give 'em any trouble.
Silva: I actually like that you're not overconfident. On the flip side, it doesn't help to be too hard on yourself.
Lyria: Uh-huh! When we came to pick you up, didn't you say you were looking forward to learning smithing techniques from Auguste?
Lyria: What was it again? Something about protecting metals from rusting, right?
Uncle Dan: Yep. Since way back, Auguste has been a research hub for metallurgists looking to combat the effects of rust.
Silva: Metals in Auguste are more susceptible to rust due to the sea salt levels in the air.
Lyria: Oh, that makes sense!
Cucouroux: When it comes to anti-rust treatment, no one in Phantagrande can match the metallurgists of Auguste!
Uncle Dan: Thing is, simply starting out with rust-resistant metal goes a long way.
Uncle Dan: That's why the alloy foundry partnered with an interested party to see if such a material could be cost-effectively produced.
Cucouroux: No matter how great the base material is, it doesn't matter if no one can afford it.
Uncle Dan: Exactly. Plus it's gotta be an all-purpose metal that even people with no affinity for magic can use.
Camieux: A metal infused with magic will lose its effectiveness after it's been used for a long time anyway. Eventually the magic runs out.
Cucouroux: One solution is to treat the metal to hold magic for a longer period of time. But that adds complexity to the material's structure and makes it more brittle.
What began as an explanation to inform the crew about Dan's work has become a three-person technical roundtable.
Silva: ...
Lyria: All this talk seems to be cheering up Dan!
Tweyen is a crew member

Tweyen: Hehe, is that a smile I see on your lips too, Silva?
Silva: Yes, I'm so relieved. The sight of those three happily chatting away is enough for me.
Silva: This type of work is their life's calling.
Tweyen is a crew member

Tweyen: Mm-hm. Their eyes light up with excitement. You can tell they enjoy it.
Speaking with his nieces helps to alleviate the pressure on Dan, and soon the Grandcypher arrives in Auguste.
Tweyen not in crew

Tweyen: Silva! (Captain)! I missed you and everyone else in the crew.
As the airship pulls into port, the crew is greeted by Tweyen, legendary archer of the Eternals. She's come to spend the summer with them.
Silva: You beat us here, Tweyen! It's good to see you again too.
Uncle Dan: Oh, were we supposed to get here first? 'Fraid I made the crew take a detour to come get me.
Silva: Ah, I forgot about that. Sorry to keep you waiting, Tweyen.
Tweyen: Haha, it's no problem. I found a wonderful little shop while I was wandering around. I can take you there later if you'd like.
Cucouroux: All right! If Tweyen's giving it a thumbs up, it's gotta be awesome!
Camieux: Aye! I can't wait to go!
Silva: Well, before we hit the beach or do any shopping we should drop our luggage off at the beach house.
Cucouroux: It's okay to wear our bathing suits in town, right? If so, I want to get changed!
Lyria: Me too! Hm, looks like the beach house is this way!
Lyria takes the lead, and the crew merrily follow her to the beach house.
Cucouroux: Ta-da! Presenting Ms. Cucouroux in her fantabulous new swimsuit!
Uncle Dan: Ooh! You girls plus Lyria and (Captain) have got the summer style down pat.
Cucouroux: We sure do! But now for the moment you've all been waiting for!
Cucouroux: Feast your eyes on a lovely vision of summer—our beloved big sister, Silva!
Camieux: Whoo-hoo!
Silva: Um, could you maybe tone it down, Cucouroux? You're embarrassing me...
Tweyen: Haha, I understand why she's so excited though. That outfit looks really good on you.
Gran is the Main Character

Silva: Is that your honest opinion? I thought it might be too cutesy for my taste...
  1. That swimsuit screams "Silva."
  2. Never have I seen such beauty!

Djeeta is the Main Character

Silva: Is that your honest opinion? I thought it might be too cutesy for my taste...
  1. No way! You're a stunner!
  2. But you're always cute!

Choose: No way! You're a stunner!
Cucouroux: Definitely! Geez, why is my big sis so elegant?
Silva: Gasp! Cucouroux! Where did that come from?
Silva is taken aback by Cucouroux's sudden hug. The younger girl buries her head in her big sister's bosom.
Cucouroux: Grr, you're so huggable. It's not fair!
Tweyen: Oh, don't say that, Cucouroux. You're just as stunning but in a slightly smaller package.
Silva: Tweyen's right. I think being a little shorter adds to your cuteness factor.
Cucouroux: Booo! I'm being bullied by gorgeous gals! Do something, (Captain)!
This time Cucouroux flies into (Captain)'s arms, and the captain has to comfort the girl.

Choose: But you're always cute!
Tweyen: Ahaha! Yes, she sure is! Isn't that nice, Silva?
Silva: I wish you two wouldn't tease me like that.
Silva: I know for a fact I'm not the kind of woman who exudes cuteness or charm.
Tweyen: Gosh, would you quit being so modest? (Captain) and I wouldn't lie to you.
Tweyen: Right, (Captain)?
(Captain) nods with gusto.

Choose: That swimsuit screams "Silva."
Lyria: Uh-huh! It's perfect!
Lyria: The way it matches your hair color gives it a nice—um, what's the word...? Accentuation? Well, what I mean is you look pretty!
Silva: Really?
Lyria: Yes, really!
Silva: I see... It's not like you two would flatter me just for my sake.
Silva: Thanks for the compliments. Haha, I'm glad Cucouroux was my shopping buddy.

Choose: Never have I seen such beauty!
(Captain) takes both of Silva's hands and stares straight into her eyes.
Silva: ...!
Silva: Wh-what are you doing, (Captain)! You shouldn't tease adults!
Cucouroux: Says the woman whose face is turning beet red.
Silva: What!
Silva reflexively tries to cover her face when she realizes her hands are still being held by (Captain).
Silva: Both of you, please! Don't toy with me...
Camieux: I agree with (Captain) though! Silva is super pretty!
Silva: Not you too, Camieux...
Continue 1
Uncle Dan: Good for you, Silva.
Silva: Huh?
Uncle Dan: Er... It's not my place to speak, but I want you to know I'm happy for you.
Uncle Dan: You could never let your guard down for a second when you were flying solo as a merc.
Silva: Yeah...
Uncle Dan: But ever since you joined (Captain)'s crew, you made lots of friends and got the chance to smile again.
Uncle Dan: Just goes to show you can still be the same badass sniper and a beloved crew member.
Silva: Dan...
Silva: I'm sorry I made you worry all this time.
Uncle Dan: Oh, girl, that's not what I'm saying! 'Sides, I'm the one who's always making y'all worry, aren't I?
Uncle Dan: Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm glad you found a place where you belong.
Silva: Mm, so I have...
Uncle Dan: All right, enough of this mushy stuff! Now that this fashion show is over, I'm off to work!
Silva: Oh, that's right. You have an appointment with the chamber of commerce.
Camieux: But once you're done with work you can spend the rest of the time relaxing in Auguste, right?
Uncle Dan: Yep. I haven't taken a day off in forever, so my foundry colleagues practically ordered me to take a vacation.
Cucouroux: Okay! Come splash around with us in the sea when you get the chance!
Uncle Dan: Eh, I think watching from the beach is more up my alley. Anyway, I'll let you know after my work is done.
Silva: Have a good day! Try not to strain yourself.
Uncle Dan: Thanks. See you kids later.
The crew wave goodbye to Dan, and then they head down to the shore.
Cucouroux: What's the matter, Cammy? Still scared of the waves? You can hold my hand if you want.
Camieux: Ehehe, I'm not scared of the waves anymore!
Camieux: B-but can I still hold your hand just in case?
Cucouroux: Of course! Here!
Silva: I remember Camieux crying on the shore when she was little, but now look at her. She's grown up.
Tweyen: Oh? You've all been to Auguste before?
Silva: Yeah, back when I was staying with the gunsmiths they took us to the beach for a vacation.
Lyria: I heard about that! Camieux thought the sea went on forever!
Camieux: Aye, what an embarrassing story... I never let go of Cucouroux's hand...
Camieux: She didn't get to go into the water at all because of me. I still feel bad about it.
Cucouroux: What kinda attitude is that, Cammy? I'm your big sister, and big sisters always look out for their siblings!
Cucouroux: Here's a neat idea. Why don't you make it up to me by playing all day with your big sis!
Camieux: Whaaa!
Cucouroux pulls the young girl with her, and the two go splashing into the gentle waves.
Cucouroux: Cannonball!
Camieux: Ahaha! Double cannonball!
Lyria: Hey, they went in without us! Come on, (Captain), let's not get left behind!
(Captain) and Lyria hold hands and run into the shallows after the two girls.
Silva: Haha...
Tweyen: ...
Silva: Is everything all right, Tweyen? I noticed you've been staring off into space. Do you see something—
Tweyen: Eh? No, I wasn't scanning for monsters or anything... I just...
Tweyen: I'm jealous of those two. You sisters must have lots of wonderful memories together.
Silva: Tweyen...
Silva: Pfft...
Tweyen: What's so funny!
Silva: I mean, what's there to be jealous about?
Silva: We have all the time in the world to make our own memories, right?
Tweyen: ...!
Silva: Me, Cucouroux, Camieux, Lyria, Vyrn, (Captain)... We're all here, you know?
Silva: Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, why not spend it having fun? And this beach is the perfect place to start.
Tweyen: Mm.
Cucouroux: Sis! Tweyen! Come join us!
Tweyen: We're coming!
Silva: Hey! Don't go out into the deep areas without warming up!
Silva: We only get one summer vacation a year. Let's not let it go to waste!
The Three: Okay!
The swimmers take Silva's warning seriously and thoroughly stretch before going back into the water.
Their first day of vacation is blessed with clear skies and sparkling waters.

Family Vacation

Silva, Cucouroux, Camieux, Tweyen, Dan, (Captain), Vyrn, and Lyria have a fun night out at a pub. Before the crew leaves, a comment from the head server convinces Dan to keep an eye out for his nieces and ensure that their vacation remains undisturbed.

A few days have passed since the crew docked in Auguste.
After yet another busy day of fun in the sun, the crew returns to the beach house before dinnertime.
Cucouroux: Whee! I must've built, like, a dozen sand castles! Today was a blast!
Tweyen: Hm? Sounds like you're saying the day is already over, but it's far too early to call it quits, Cucouroux.
Silva: Yeah, the sun hasn't even set—
Uncle Dan: Whew, what a day. Oh, hey. You're all back already. Did you have a good time out there?
Cucouroux: Cammy! (Captain)! Secure Uncle Dan!
Camieux: Roger!
Uncle Dan: Hey, what the—
Dan has barely stepped through the door only to be dragged outside by (Captain), Cucouroux, and Camieux.
Uncle Dan: You kids scared the tar outta me! So this is what it's like to be kidnapped.
Silva: Sorry about that, Dan.
Cucouroux: What choice did we have? If we asked politely, you'd probably say no.
Camieux: That's why we decided to act first and talk later! But actually it was (Captain)'s idea!
Lyria: The food at this place looks mouthwatering, Tweyen!
Tweyen: Yes. Ask any of the locals for a recommendation, and they'll suggest this restaurant.
Silva: It's more of a pub though, and since Tweyen and I are the only ones old enough to drink, we thought it'd be better to get one more person.
Silva: So we decided to wait until you finished work and had time off.
Uncle Dan: Hm, it does seem a bit rude to go in with a party of mostly non-drinkers.
Cucouroux: Your vacation starts tomorrow, doesn't it? So tonight's the night to fill up on yummy Auguste food and drinks!
Head Server: Good evening. Sorry about the wait. A table for seven? Follow me, please!
Vyrn: Wait a minute! You forgot me!
Head Server: Oh, I'm so sorry! Didn't realize you were with them. Okay, make that eight!
Head Server: I think the table should be big enough but chairs might be a bit iffy. I'll go grab a high chair.
Silva: Thank you.
In the meantime you can sit on my lap, Vyrn.
Vyrn: Thanks, Silva! Hope the high chair's just as comfortable!
The crew members take their seats and study the menu hanging on the wall.
Lyria: Ooh, ooh! They have seared bonito fillets! Those are to die for!
Silva: Sounds good. Let's order one of those. And... octopus with wasa? What's wasa?
Tweyen: It's a uniquely spicy condiment that stimulates the sinuses.
Camieux: I don't know if I can handle that...
Camieux: I'd rather eat a creamy crab croquette! Looks so good!
Cucouroux: I say we skip the spicy octopus and order the fried kind instead.
Uncle Dan: Ahem. I'm as hungry as everyone else, but let's order drinks first.
Vyrn: Good call! Maybe I'll switch things up and go with homemade watermelon juice...
They spend what seems like an eternity agonizing over their options before finally ordering. When the dishes arrive, they raise a toast and start to eat.
Cucouroux: ...!
Camieux: ...!
Lyria: This is sooo good!
Tweyen: It really is! What do you call this? Thinly-sliced scallop with sauce?
Head Server: Heehee... That secret recipe is my pride and joy! But there are more dishes to come!
Camieux: Wow, wow, wow! Everything looks so amazing... I don't know what to try first!
Uncle Dan: Eat up, Camieux. Tonight's dinner is on me.
Silva: Wait, Dan. That's—
Uncle Dan: It's fine. My wallet's gotten fatter ever since I recently cut back on trips to the bar.
Uncle Dan: Been dying to have a brew after a hard day's work, and I'm feeling generous to boot, so let me grab the check on this one.
Silva: Okay then. We'll take you up on that.
Uncle Dan: Good. So tell me, (Captain). What did you do at the beach today?
Vyrn: Allow me to answer that! A jellyfish got curious and snuck inside (Captain)'s swimsuit! You shoulda heard the screams!
  1. He doesn't need to know about that!
  2. Oh yeah? Wait till you hear about Vyrn.

Choose: He doesn't need to know about that!
Cucouroux: It caught everyone by surprise. One minute (Captain) was having a nice swim; the next minute (Captain) was thrashing around like crazy.
Silva: A jellyfish's translucent body makes it hard to see when you're swimming. Anyone would react the same way. I'm just glad (Captain) didn't drown.
Lyria: (Captain) managed to set the jellyfish free, and it quickly floated away. I bet it was surprised too!

Choose: Oh yeah? Wait till you hear about Vyrn.
Uncle Dan: What? Juice spilled on him during an afternoon nap, and he woke up covered in bugs?
Lyria: Some were as big as my index finger. They were everywhere; on his legs, and—
Cucouroux: Ick! That's enough, Lyria! I can't stand bugs!
Camieux: I was so shocked, I splashed him with water without even thinking!
Vyrn: That wasn't fun at all.

Uncle Dan: Yeesh... Glad you didn't get stung or anything.
Lyria: Yes, it was a close call. But other than that, we all had a great time!
Camieux: We took a boat tour into a natural sea cave. It was beautiful!
Silva: Sunlight filtered in through the holes in the ceiling, lighting up patches of glittering sea water as we went.
Cucouroux: It was like floating on a river of gemstones. Ah, that reminds me. I talked with the boat captain, and he told me—
The crew continue to regale Dan about their adventures in between bites of food.
Once everyone has had their fill, the crew members exit the restaurant, leaving Dan to take care of the bill.
Uncle Dan: Hoo boy... They ate more than I thought... Oh well, growing kids gotta eat. Still pretty cheap for how tasty it was, all things considered.
Head Server: Thank you for dining with us tonight! My goodness, raising such a handful of cute children must be a strain on a father's wallet.
Uncle Dan: Er, I'm not their—
Head Server: But being cute has its downsides. It can attract unwanted attention, like ants swarming a piece of candy.
Uncle Dan: I beg your pardon?
Head Server: Think about it. This is a resort. Of course boys are going to flock here to try their luck.
Uncle Dan: (That didn't even cross my mind! Maybe 'cause I know the girls would destroy anyone who tries to mess with 'em.)
Uncle Dan: (Still, I wouldn't put it past a pack of weirdos to put a damper on their vacation.)
Uncle Dan: (But what can I do about it?)
The server's off-the-cuff remarks stops Dan in his tracks. A concerned Silva comes in to ask what the holdup is.
Silva: Is there a problem, Uncle Dan? I can chip in if—
Uncle Dan: Whoa, hey. Nah, I paid already. Just lost track of time chatting with the lady here.
Uncle Dan: Sorry. Shall we head back?
Silva: Sure. Thank you for the lovely dinner, Dan.
Uncle Dan: No problemo. It was nice to have a few drinks with everyone.
The two convene with the rest of the group, and they all walk back to the beach house.
Breathing in the crisp sea air, Dan wonders how he can safeguard the crew's summer plans.

Family Vacation: Scene 2

The next morning, Dan discreetly leads a group of playboys away from the beach so that his nieces can continue enjoying themselves. When Silva falls asleep later, the crew suspects she has plenty of pent-up fatigue and wonders how they can help her relax.

(Captain) and company wake up bright and early the next morning, ready for another day of thrills.
Cucouroux: See you later, Uncle Dan! Have a nice, relaxing day to yourself!
Uncle Dan: Uh-huh, thanks. Watch out for sunburns and stuff, okay?
Camieux: Aye! Bye!
The crew members find a spot on the beach to lay out their towels. The younger vacationers do a few stretches before wading into the water.
Tweyen: I swear they never get tired.
Silva: Ah, to be young again...
Silva: As for the two of us, I say we lounge under the umbrella and burn off the drinks from last night.
Tweyen: Not before we put on sunscreen. The sun isn't something to trifle with, even with an umbrella.
Tweyen: Hold up your hair so I can get your back.
Silva: Thanks. I'll do yours after—
Silva: Heep!
Silva: Ahaha! Admit it, Tweyen! You were looking for an excuse to tickle me!
Tweyen: Was I? Gee, how mean of you to make baseless accusations. I was just doing what you wanted me to.
Silva: Haha... I'll get my revenge...
Tweyen: Oops! Can't forget to cover your stomach!
Silva: No, Tweyen! Heeheehee!
Tweyen: Ah... My sides... Too much laughing...
Silva: Your sides were always your weak spot. Did I go overboard with my counterattack?
Tweyen: Come buy a drink with me, and I'll forgive you.
Silva: Are you sure? I don't mind buying the drinks and bringing them back.
Tweyen: Nope. We both have to study the menu and spend time together being indecisive.
Silva: Ah, that we do...
The two gorgeous gals relaxing under the shadow of the umbrella draw the attention of nearly everyone within eyesight.
Playboy Master: Sss... Those two are smokin'!
Playboy: A gentleman never ignores a lonely babe! Let's go holler!
The overeager young men move in on their targets, but they're intercepted.
Uncle Dan: Hey, fellas...
Playboy Master: What do you want, man?
Uncle Dan: Hate to bother you, but I need directions. Can you help me out?
Playboy: Oh, sure, sure. You're in luck, 'cause we locals know everything!
Playboy Master: Auguste peeps are famous for their hospitality. So whatcha looking for?
Uncle Dan: Uh... The, uh... The place with all the food stalls?
The two youths give up on their hunt and show the "lost" Dan around without a fuss.
Uncle Dan: (Phew... Good thing they're nice guys...)
Tweyen: Hm...
Silva: Something catch your eye?
Tweyen: Yeah. I guess Dan was lost, but now he's leaving with some guys.
Silva: I see. I noticed he was watching (Captain) and the others ever since we left.
Silva: I figured he was worried about something, but I'm glad that doesn't seem to be the case.
Tweyen: Mm. Maybe he was afraid one of us would collapse from the heat.
Silva: Dan finally made it to Auguste, and I want him to enjoy his time here to the fullest.
Tweyen: Me too. He's been so wrapped up in work.
Uncle Dan: (Don't worry, everyone. Uncle Dan has shooed away these Lotharios so you can enjoy the summer in peace!)
Dan fails to avoid the notice of Silva and Tweyen, but his plan to protect summer for everyone enjoys some success.
Meanwhile Cucouroux and the others leave the water and come back to Silva and Tweyen.
Camieux: Sis! Tweyen! I'm feeling kinda hungry...
Tweyen: Shh.
Silva: ...
Camieux: Oops! Did Sis fall asleep?
Tweyen: Yep. She was out before I even realized it.
Cucouroux: Even after that drinking last night, I can't believe she's sleeping so soundly. She must be really tired.
Vyrn: She always gets asked to look out for monsters while we're flying on the airship.
Vyrn: Being on edge all the time must be draining, physically and mentally.
Lyria: And she's been spending every minute with us since we got to Auguste. She hasn't had any quiet time to herself.
Cucouroux: Fun is fun, but resting up is important too.
Cucouroux: Sis is the type of person who'll fuss over you even when you tell her to take it easy. How do we get her to relax?
Silva: ...

Family Vacation: Scene 3

The crew takes Silva to a massage parlor so they can all relieve some tension from their bodies. It turns out the establishment is backed by the mafia and uses various fragrances to lull customers to sleep before kidnapping them. Dan waltzes into the shop and kicks up a ruckus, rousing the crew from their sleep.

Camieux: Thanks for the food!
The crew had let Silva nap for a bit, waiting for her to wake up before hitting the food stalls to grab a bite.
Silva: I'm sorry lunch got delayed because I fell asleep.
Cucouroux: Quit apologizing, Sis! It's not a problem at all.
  1. Besides, I got to see Silva's sleeping face!
  2. Food tastes better when you're starving!

Choose: Besides, I got to see Silva's sleeping face!
Silva: You what?
Tweyen: Heehee, wasn't she cute, (Captain)?
Silva: Sigh... I brought this on myself...
Silva's cheeks flush red when she sees (Captain) nod in agreement with Tweyen.

Choose: Food tastes better when you're starving!
Cucouroux: Yep! Plus there's less people in line when it isn't peak hours.
Cucouroux: Compared to last night's all-out feast, snacking at our own pace really hits the spot!
Lyria: I loved the yakisoba topped with seafood! And after that, Camieux and I split a thing of briny-bits!
Silva: Hm... Well, I'm glad it worked out for everyone.
Continue 1
Vyrn: Now that we've crossed off lunch, what's on the agenda for this afternoon?
Cucouroux: Hm... Something laid-back might be good...
Cucouroux stops to think. She hears a hawker's voice coming from the food stalls.
Masseuse: Beat the heat with a soothing massage! My magic hands will knead away all the aches and pains of the daily grind!
Cucouroux: Hey, that sounds relaxing! What do you think, Vyrn?
Vyrn: A massage, huh? I don't really need one though...
Vyrn looks blankly at (Captain), who winks back at the dragon, causing him to remember an earlier conversation had on the beach.
Vyrn: Oh yeah! On second thought, I think Cucouroux's got the right idea!
Cucouroux: How about you, Silva? Eliminating fatigue is the sure cure for a restful vacation!
Silva: It does seem relaxing. Count me in.
Cucouroux: Yes! Come on, Cammy, let's go ask about that massage place!
Camieux: Roger!
(Captain) and company clean up their table while the two girls run off. Meanwhile Dan watches them from not too far away.
Uncle Dan: (Looks like they're done eating and are about to go somewhere.)
Uncle Dan: (I should be able to stay hidden among all these people, but that also makes it easier to lose sight of 'em.)
Masseuse: Thanks for choosing my services! I'll show you to the parlor!
Cucouroux: Lead the way!
The woman leads the crew to the massage parlor. Dan tries to keep a close tail.
Uncle Dan: (I think they went around this corner...)
Uncle Dan: What the... They turned down another corner? Crap! Which way did they go!
While Dan panics over losing sight of the crew, the masseuse ushers each member into their own private rooms.
Masseuse: You can leave your swimsuit on. Use this basket to store any loose belongings.
Silva: Okay. Sniff... It smells nice in here.
Masseuse: Teehee. We burn incense to help our guests wind down.
Masseuse: Many people often doze off once we break out the aroma oils.
Silva: Uh-oh... I have a feeling I'll be one of them.
Masseuse: You're more than welcome to sleep! In fact, sleeping loosens up the tension in the muscles, which leads to a better massage.
Silva: Is that so?
Masseuse: I do work here, you know. Now if you're ready, please lie face down on the table.
Silva: Okay.
The masseuse proceeds to work her magic, attacking the knots that have collected over time.
Silva: Ngh...
Silva: (It hurts a little at first, but then it feels good...)
Silva: Aah...
Silva: Ooh... Right there!
Silva: (I can feel the soreness melting away, and the sweet aroma is really helping too...)
Silva: (My eyes... getting heavy...)
Silva: ...
Gangster: Got any good news for me?
Masseuse: Hey, don't use the front door!
Gangster: Aw, who cares. Well?
Masseuse: Got a real nice catch today. She's a pretty young thing.
Gangster: That's all I needed to know. Make sure she doesn't wake up in the middle of being carried off.
Masseuse: She won't, don't worry. On the other hand, you and your buddies better not blow the whole operation.
Gangster: Heh, wish I could reassure ya, 'cept we got screwed during the eal incident. Our boss failed big time.
Masseuse: Yeah, and our profits in Auguste tanked because of that.
Gangster: Well, at least you guys've been keeping the chamber of commerce busy. Credit where credit's due.
Uncle Dan: Excuse me...
Masseuse: Oh! Good day! I'm afraid we're all booked this afternoon.
Masseuse: (There's no demand for old men. Bet you couldn't even do any manual labor.)
Uncle Dan: Ah, well, would it be all right if I wait here until a room opens up?
Masseuse: I'm sorry. That's probably not going to happen...
Uncle Dan: A group of kids came in not too long ago, right? One of them has long, blue hair? I know them.
Uncle Dan: (It took me forever to finally find the right place. I can't afford to lose them again.)
Gangster: Look, man, she said you can't stay. I think you'd better leave like a good boy, catch my drift?
Uncle Dan: Urk!
The loutish man grabs Dan by the wrist and gives it a twist.
Uncle Dan: Aaaugh!
Gangster: This is level one. You wanna step up to level two? Huh?
Uncle Dan: Aaagh!
Silva: ...
Uncle Dan: Aaaugh!
Silva: ...!
Silva: Was that... Dan?
Masseuse: Gasp! Miss!
Silva: Stop! What do you think you're doing!
Gangster: Tch...
Silva's angry outcry causes the man to release Dan's arm.
Uncle Dan: That hurt...
Silva: Are you okay, Dan?
Uncle Dan: Y-yeah, I'm fine! Please don't get mad that I followed you here...
Gangster: Ooh, she's a catch, all right. Get the boys out here! This one's not getting away!
Silva: ...!
Silva: What do you want with us?
Gangster: You don't need to know that, babe. We're taking you some place nice.
Hey! Don't just stand there!
Masseuse: Yeah, yeah. Try not to wreck up my shop.
Tweyen: I'll try my best, but I can't guarantee it'll be left standing.
Masseuse: Huh?
Tweyen: If anyone's going to tear this place down, it certainly isn't going to be your two-bit thug of an accomplice.
The masseuse turns around to see an angry crew awoken by Dan's screams.
Camieux: What did you do to Uncle Dan, you... fat radish!
Vyrn: Yeah! I thought this was supposed to be a good shop!
Gangster: Heh... Should've kept your eyes closed! Then all your dreams woulda come true, but too bad!
Gangster: It doesn't pay to be too smart for your own—
(Captain) walks up to the man and silences his chortles with a powerful punch.
Gangster: Guh!
Masseuse: H-hey!
Gangster: Ungh...
Cucouroux: Whoo-hoo! That's our one-punch captain!
Uncle Dan: Still strong as ever, I see...
Tweyen: This parlor stinks of trash. I think we should hose it down from top to bottom.
Silva: Mm-hm. And I know a gracious host who has no qualms showing us where the other scumbags are hiding.
Silva: Isn't that right?
Masseuse: Eep! Y-yes, ma'am!

Family Vacation: Scene 4

After routing the crooks at the massage parlor and turning them over to authorities, the crew chats away merrily for the rest of the night. The following morning, (Captain) and Silva share a special moment together watching the beautiful sunrise.

(Captain) and company turn the man and his cronies over to the authorities.
The authorities explain that the mafia has been giving the chamber of commerce trouble lately. They thank the crew and take the criminals away.
Vyrn: Bah, what a waste of a good massage. Sucks the place was tainted by the mafia.
Lyria: They were using incense and aroma oils to put people to sleep so they could kidnap them. That's awful.
Camieux: We would've been in big trouble if Uncle Dan hadn't yelled really loud.
Cucouroux: Thanks for coming to the parlor, Uncle Dan!
Uncle Dan: Haha, it's too bad you had to see your uncle get hurt.
Cucouroux: It was my fault for picking a shady business that put us in danger. You saved us.
Cucouroux: As strong as Sis, Tweyen, and (Captain) are, it doesn't count for much if they fall asleep...
Uncle Dan: You can rest easy now, Cucouroux.
Silva: The blame falls squarely on the crooks running the parlor. It wasn't your fault.
Tweyen: Anre, Seofon, Threo, and Seox will thoroughly take care of the rest.
Tweyen: They'll make sure this never happens to anyone else. I offered to help but got chided for trying to cut my vacation short.
Silva: With the Eternals on the case, I'm sure any victims will be rescued quickly.
Silva: This heinous scheme wouldn't have been uncovered if we hadn't gone to that parlor. At least that's a silver lining, right?
Cucouroux: Yeah...
Cucouroux: But I'm still steamed that our massages were ruined because of them!
Tweyen: Haha, that's true. Why don't we look for a new place?
Cucouroux: Okay! My parlor is open for business, and I'm giving our guest of honor, Uncle Dan, the special shoulder massage course!
Uncle Dan: For me? Er, thanks.
Camieux: I'll do Silva's shoulders!
Lyria: Ooh! Then I'll take care of (Captain)'s shoulders!
Dan, Silva, and (Captain) take a seat next to each other while Cucouroux, Camieux, and Lyria stand behind them.
Tweyen: In the meantime I'll go put on a pot of tea.
Vyrn: I'll help!
Lyria: Massaging, massaging...
Cucouroux: Mmf... Ngh... I think I found a big trouble spot here!
Uncle Dan: You've gotten stronger, Cucouroux. You could barely lift a hammer when you were little, but now you're all grown up.
Cucouroux: Heheh! I can carry anvils all by myself like it's nothing.
Uncle Dan: Spoken like the gunsmiths' successor. I'm proud you're my niece.
Uncle Dan: I feel bad for getting to have all the fun while they're stuck at home though.
Cucouroux: You mean Mom and Dad?
Uncle Dan: Yeah.
Cucouroux: Well, next time Mom and Dad can... No, wait. Not just them.
Cucouroux: What if everyone at the gun workshop and alloy foundry joins us all for a big trip together?
Lyria: Wow! That sounds amazing! Why don't we try asking her parents if they want to come with us next time, (Captain)?
Uncle Dan: They'd probably be happy simply knowing you guys were thinking about them.
Camieux: If next year doesn't work, there's always the year after that! We have to take a trip together no matter what!
Tweyen: Mm-hm. Auguste is one of the best places for creating fond memories.
Silva: Especially in the summer.
Tweyen: That's right, Silva. Now who's up for some iced tea?
Silva: I'll have some. Glug.
Aah... Refreshing.
The carefree conversations and massages stretch on into the night.
(Captain) awakens the next morning before the sun is about to peek out over the horizon. The captain heads to the beach to watch the sunrise.
(Captain) gazes at the dark waves breaking softly on the sand. Above the noise comes the sound of approaching footsteps.
Silva: Good morning, (Captain). I heard you leave, and I guess I ended up following suit.
Silva: Did I sleep well? Mm, I slept like a log. My shoulders must've been stiffer than I thought.
Silva: It's not only the weight of my sniper rifle that's to blame?
Silva: Excuse you. Not everyone is receptive to awkward jokes, but I'll let that one slide...
Silva: Hold that thought. Here comes the sun.
They drop the silly banter and watch the sun crest the horizon. It casts its rays upon the reflective surface of the sea.
Silva: ...
Silva: Isn't it beautiful?
Silva: Watching the sun rise from a sea of clouds or welcoming the morning from the valleys is one thing... But there's something about a beach view that's incomparable.
Silva: Sharing this spectacular dawn with you is a joy I'll never forget.
Silva's voice drops to near whispers, and she turns her gaze away from the sea to smile tenderly at (Captain).
Her smile is as radiant as the morning sun. (Captain) and Silva revel in this warm moment meant for just the two of them.
