Background

In his past, Vaseraga was the captain of a successful crew of skyfarers. Excited at the prospect becoming a leading crew, Vaseraga accepted a job to eliminate a primal beast from an island. This decision turned out to be his life's biggest regret. The primal beast was revealed to be Lich whose poisonous mist rendered Vaseraga immobile. One by one, each crew member slowly dragged Vaseraga's body out of the Lich's lair. When one crew member perished due to poison, another took their place. They believed that as long as Vaseraga lived, the crew would live on and their dreams would stay alive.

The traumatic loss of his entire crew left once confident and ambitious captain with immense survivor's guilt. Desperate to escape his past, he joins the Society and later becomes the contractor of the Great Scythe Grynoth.

The Society assigns Vaseraga with Zeta to investigate the primal beast of Lognos Island. Their personalities clash at first, but they eventually learn to deeply trust each other over time.

He is notably fond of the Main Character and the Grandcypher crew since they remind him of happier times with his former crew. Due to his traumatic past, Vaseraga is extremely protective of his comrades particularly those that lack the combat ability to protect themselves, such as Lyria and Vyrn. If an ally dies or is in imminent danger, he goes into an near-uncontrollable berserker rage.
