Happy Birthday Cutscenes

1

Happy birthday.
We can't choose the place where we are born, but the winds that we ride are decided by us alone.
Whatever the case... I hope you find contentment this year.

2

Life's rough. It's unfair and packed with annoyances and frustrations.
Sometimes there's just nothing you can do about it.
But I still have moments where I realize how glad I am to be alive.
Since I met you and started traveling together, (Captain), I've experienced moments like that more times than I can count.
No matter how much you find yourself bruised and battered both emotionally and physically...
You'll still have plenty of moments that make you glad to be alive.
Which is why... if it's okay with you, I want to keep living by your side forever after.
Heheh... Happy birthday, (Captain).

3

Happy birthday. What did you think about the past year?
Was it fun? Boring? Difficult? Full of surprises? I guess you can't really condense an entire year into a few words.
I have a feeling you'll experience many different things this year.
You'll make lots of wonderful memories.
And I'll do whatever I can to help you create those memories.
So that on your next birthday we can look back and relive them.

4

(Captain), today's your birthday, right? Congrats.
This would be a good chance to reflect on what's happened over the past year.
I'm sure there were difficult and even stressful times, but...
I believe those experiences, too, help make you who you are today, (Captain).
Maybe one day you can take all those painful memories...
As a lesson for your future self. That'd be for the best.
Of course, the mental leap that'd require wouldn't happen overnight. The same goes for me.
Maybe someday...
But however you slice it, looking ahead to the future is all too important if you ask me.

5

It's your birthday today, isn't it? Did you celebrate lots?
I see... That's good to hear.
Celebrating someone's birthday, and having your own birthday celebrated...
Some may take them for granted, but they're very special moments.
I pray that next year, and the year after that, you'll have many friends celebrating with you...
And that you'll be able to continue traveling together with them.
Most of all, I hope I will be one of the lucky ones traveling with you. And for that, I will put in my best effort.
But first, let me celebrate with you this year.
Happy birthday, (Captain). I wish you the very best.

1

Happy New Year.
Hm... The end of the year certainly has been abuzz with activity. Not that there's anything wrong with ushering in the new year in a more relaxed manner.

2

Happy New Year, (Captain). I'm looking forward to another good year.
I've been running around getting ready, and I imagine you're probably pretty tired too, (Captain).
Hm... Nothing wrong with staying home, if you ask me.
It's only fair to relax after all that hard work leading up to the new year.
After all, we'll need all the energy we can get for next year.
Whatever the case, being able to take it easy with you is an honor and privilege.

3

Good morning, (Captain). Happy New Year.
Hehe... You looked so cozy sleeping that I didn't want to wake you.
You've been keeping busy as of late, so I think you should ease into the new year.
There's still a whole new year ahead of us, after all. Take some time off to relax and refresh yourself.

4

(Captain), happy New Year.
Do you think you'll be able to take it easy today?
I'm glad to hear that. You always seem so busy with your job as a captain.
So I thought it'd be nice if you could take it easy for the start of the year at least before going about your usual routine.
I hope we have another great year together, (Captain).

5

Happy New Year. I look forward to continuing our journey together, (Captain).
You looked pretty busy last night on New Year's Eve... Do you think you'll be able to relax a little today?
That's good... You need your rest.
Keep warm, eat lots... and take it easy.
Hm? I should do the same?
Mm... Okay, I'll take it easy too. That way I can keep working hard this year.
Thanks for worrying about me, (Captain). That makes me really happy.
It truly does.

1

Hm... Chocolates really do require a delicate touch.
I made you this simple cup of hot chocolate, and I hope you'll drink it.
I put my heart and soul into this. Thanks for everything.

2

To eat is to live.
That's a powerful rule of the world to me.
Hmm... To be hungry is a source of profound sadness.
So being able to give you chocolates like this makes me profoundly happy.
And I'd be even happier if you accepted them with all your heart.
If you're happy... I don't need anything else. You think I'm exaggerating? I wonder...
It's fine if you think that. Just so long as you remember how happy I am right now, (Captain).

3

(Captain). I've prepared some hot chocolate, if you'd like a cup.
Here you are. Careful, it's hot.
Hot chocolate really is fantastic... It warms up your body, not to mention it's sweet and chocolatey.
Feower says it's the perfect beverage to have in winter before moving around.
See, when your body gets cold, your heart becomes weary and your bones become stiff.
I want to be like a cup of hot chocolate for you and the children of Stardust Town.
I don't know if that made sense, but I hope you understand.

4

As a child, I rarely ever had the chance to partake in sweets.
But when I was presented with them, the way they melted in my mouth was so intoxicating...
I'll never forget how pleasurable the experience was...
That's why I want you to have a taste too, (Captain).
Here you go.
Is it too sweet? Do you think you can handle it?
Yeah? Hehe.
I'm such a happy woman to be able to pour you a cup of hot chocolate.

5

(Captain), I made some hot chocolate. Do you want some?
Mm... Here you go. You worked hard today.
Having something sweet when you're tired helps replenish your energy.
The past me would never have had anything sweet on hand...
But now, I can make something for you to drink whenever I want.
Sweet things were only for special occasions before, but not anymore... But that in itself is something very special to me.
Mm... Hehe, I'm not sure how to express it.
How's the hot chocolate, (Captain)?
Mm... That's good. I'm glad you like it. Seeing you smile like that makes me the happiest.

1

It's White Day, huh? Feower always makes sure to get me something, but I wonder if he's doing his due diligence to get others presents, as well.
Like you, for example.

2

Hm? These are for me?
Thank you. I couldn't be happier.
You're such a kindhearted soul, (Captain).
I mean... you value me as one of the most important people in your life.
Do you have any idea how much that means to me?
Hm... It's fine if you don't realize it. I love that about you to begin with, (Captain).

3

Oh, is this for me?
I see... Today's White Day! Thank you. This really made my day.
Giving gifts, receiving gifts... I'm thankful you remembered me, it looks lovely.
More than that, though, I'm thankful I no longer have to worry about whether or not I'll ever have a chance to return the favor.
That makes me happier than anything else. Expect something nice on Valentine's Day next year, (Captain).

4

Ah, right. Today's White Day.
I'm surprised you found the time to get me a present despite how busy you've been...
Thank you, (Captain).
Being able to use your time for someone else is such a luxury.
And the fact that you'd use yours for the sake of pleasing me makes me so happy...
I'm... enraptured.

5

Hm? What's this...
A White Day present? So you prepared something for me again... Thank you, I'm so happy.
Hm? I don't seem to hold back as much anymore?
You might be right... I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like I was expecting you to...
Not holding back is good, you say? You feel like we're closer this way?
I see... That's true. I'd be happy if my brothers and sisters didn't hold back in front of me either.
Mm... I'll try not to hold back so much then. I want us to grow closer too, (Captain).
Still, we should always treat the ones close to us with care and respect. If I'm acting too spoiled, you have to tell me, okay?
I'm more greedy than you think... So be sure to let me know.
Promise me?

Trick or Treat Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Happy Halloween. Today the children in Stardust Town are completely ignoring their work and studies.
Who knows what kind of mischief they're up to... You'd better watch out, too!

2

Mm... I'm glad you're okay, (Captain).
No, there's nothing wrong. It's just that Feower has his hands full with the mischievous children of Stardust Town.
The children have insecurities about their strengths and weaknesses, which is why everyone's efforts are amazing.
A lot went into the preparations for this highly anticipated day, so it's hard to say no to their tricks.
I can only keep you company for so long.
I'll be taking my leave. Don't worry if I'm late in returning.
Hm? You'd like to travel with me? Thank you, (Captain). Let's proceed with care.

3

...!
Ah, (Captain)? You surprised me. I wasn't expecting to see you in costume.
It's very convincing... Maybe too convincing...
I think it'd be better if you didn't hide behind a mask if you're going for a stroll through Stardust Town.
Feower's on guard duty to make sure the kids have a good time. You wouldn't want to accidentally end up on the wrong side of his blade.
But we'd love to have you back there. I'm sure the kids would want to see you again.

4

Trick... or... treat!
How was that, (Captain)? Surprised?
Mm... Feower suggested I try surprising the children of Stardust Town every now and then.
I couldn't think of any good tricks, but Feower hinted that me simply saying "trick or treat" would be more than enough.
So... how was it?
You think a trick might be better? And you'll help?
Mm... Okay. If you're beside me, I can pull it off that much more confidently.
Okay, so what trick should we go with? Share your trickster knowledge with me, (Captain).

5

Hehe, those ears on you are quite well-made. They look somewhat like Feower's ears.
It's almost like you're an Erune, just like me. That makes me kind of happy.
The ears and the costume suit you nicely. I hope you enjoy your Halloween.
Me? I'm going to go give out candy to my brothers and sisters.
If you'd like, you're welcome to come to Stardust Town and say hello.
My siblings really did their best in decorating the town, so the streets are looking quite festive.
Oh, but there might be a few tricksters lying in wait too...
But don't worry, they shouldn't play any mean tricks on you, (Captain)... I think.

Happy Holidays Cutscenes
# Link Text
1

Happy holidays. I always used to feel a little sad whenever I saw the town so nicely decorated.
But I don't feel that way anymore. Now that you're here with me...

2

I'm so happy I have the chance to spend the holidays with you and the crew, (Captain). Everyone here is so nice.
It used to pain me when I saw the town decked out for the holidays.
Why couldn't we be inside that glittering wonderland, I thought.
But now me, Feower, and the children of Stardust Town are in that shining place.
How wonderful... There's not much else that needs to be said.
It's so wonderful I... I wonder how long it can last sometimes...

3

Happy holidays, (Captain). To bring in the holiday season, the roads of Stardust Town are aglow with lights and festoons.
I do love seeing the kids enjoying them...
Long ago, the lights and illuminations made Stardust Town feel like a whole different world to me.
But now we're the ones putting up the lights.
It's strange how things can change like that, but... It's not a bad feeling. I kind of like it.

4

Mm... Yes, these presents are for the children of Stardust Town.
Haha... You must be surprised with how many there are.
When I was a child, the thought of receiving a present never even occurred to me.
But things are different now. I'm able to handpick presents for every one of my little brothers and sisters.
It makes me so happy.
Just picturing their smiles brings me joy.
But actually seeing their smiles is pure bliss beyond words.
The way I see it, I'm just giving them more time to be children while they still can.

5

I'm back, (Captain). Yes, Sierokarte asked me to drop by the Knickknack Shack, so I went to see her.
And... that's where I received this large bag of decorations as a present.
The bag's filled with ribbons and other ornaments for the holy night.
Sierokarte said she was giving them to me since she seemed to have overstocked... But that's probably a lie.
It's really nice of her.
My brothers and sisters will be so happy. I'm going to go out to Stardust Town and start handing everything out.
You'll come with me? Are you sure you're not busy?
Mm... Okay, then let's go together. My siblings will be glad to see you.
Of course, I'm happy that I can spend this night with you too.

Encountering the Eternals I

(Captain) and company talk to Sierokarte about ways to unlock more power in the Ten-Wolf Gun. When another customer walks in, the crew leaves so as not to get in the way of business.

(Captain) and crew successfully unlock part of the Ten-Wolf Gun's true power.
They stop by the Knickknack Shack for Sierokarte's advice on the next step to awakening the weapon.
Sierokarte: Hehehe... Looks like you're going to need to carry on with what you're doing for a while yet.
Sierokarte: To awaken the Ten-Wolf Gun, you'll need to increase both its strength and the density of its magic.
Vyrn: Well, that certainly isn't gonna happen overnight...
Lyria: This whole awakening thing takes a lot of work. But if we can pull it off, we'll have an incredible weapon!
Lyria: Keep it up, (Captain)! I'll help too!
Just as excitement over the Ten-Wolf Gun builds to a fever pitch, a new customer arrives at the shop.
???: Hello, shopkeep. Am I interrupting?
Sierokarte: Oh dear, sorry! I was caught up in a conversation.
???: I've come for those documents we talked about.
Sierokarte: Oh, that's right! Let me grab those real quick!
Lyria: If we stay any longer, we'll be in the way. Why don't we head out?
Lyria: Thanks for everything, Siero! We'll be off now!
Sierokarte: Bye! Hope to see you soon!
(Captain) and company walk past the new customer as they head toward the exit.
???: Mm... Can it be?
Vyrn: Huh? Is there something we can do for you?
???: Oh, I must be mistaken... Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your conversation with Siero.
Lyria: No, not at all. We were just about to leave anyway.
???: Ah, never mind then...
Vyrn: Awakening this weapon is gonna take a while... Let's take it slow and steady, (Captain)!

Encountering the Eternals II

The crew visits the Knickknack Shack to continue the discussion on awakening the Ten-Wolf Gun. They are astonished to discover that the customer, Tien, who was also there previously, happens to be an Eternal.

(Captain) and the party head back to the Knickknack Shack to ask Sierokarte for more advice on how to awaken the Ten-Wolf Gun.
The area in front of the shop is crammed with stacks of boxes packed to the brim.
Lyria: Wow, look at all the boxes! Are they full of food?
Vyrn: Just gettin' these boxes set up must've been tough. I wonder what they're here for.
???: Mm... Sorry, are they in the way?
Lyria: Um, are all these boxes yours?
???: Yes, I ordered them from Siero.
Vyrn: What're you plannin' to use all this food for?
???: It's for my little brothers and sisters.
Lyria: Wow! You must have a really big family!
Sierokarte: Actually all the children in Stardust Town are part of Tien's family.
Vyrn: Hmm? Everyone in town? How did that happen?
Tien: Mm... Stardust Town's a place where parentless, abandoned, and runaway children all gather together.
Sierokarte: Tien takes care of all of them!
Sierokarte: And that's not all! She's also a member of the Eternals!
Lyria: The Eternals?
Sierokarte: What? You've never heard of the Eternals? The most powerful crew the world has ever known?
Sierokarte: Each member of the Eternals is a master of their own weapon type. They're also known as the menace of the skies!
Lyria: Masters? Wow, that must be an amazing crew!
Tien: We all act pretty normal if you ask me. We don't do anything outrageous... At least I hope not.
Tien: Mm... Except for Threo, I suppose. We may be known as a menace, but we don't do evil.
Lyria: If they're all as kind as you, Tien, the Eternals must be wonderful people!
Tien: Oh, it's nothing really...
Tien: ...
Vyrn: Something up? You've been staring at the Ten-Wolf Gun for a while.
Tien: The Ten-Wolf Gun... There can be no mistake. This is one of the revenant weapons.
Lyria: Rubber mint weapons? What are those?
Tien: This is only hearsay... but they're incredibly powerful and potentially dangerous weapons.
Tien: So be careful with how you handle that thing.
Tien: Mm... Sorry for saying all that. Siero, I need you to transport the boxes out front to Stardust Town.
Sierokarte: Oh yes! Leave it to me!
Vyrn: Revenant weapons, huh? Looks like I was right—the Ten-Wolf Gun's got a history!
Vyrn: But hey! We've come this far! I'm sure (Captain) will be able to handle an awakened Ten-Wolf Gun just fine. Right?
Even Tien, one of the almighty Eternals, is wary of the power of the revenant weapons.
More aware than ever of the power they are trying to obtain, (Captain) braces for what may come.

Encountering the Eternals III

Lyria steps in front of a caravan under attack when a bullet seemingly out of nowhere pierces through a monster. When the crew meets Tien again later, she warns them of the danger of a fully-awakened revenant weapon.

The crew arrives at the Knickknack Shack for more of Sierokarte's advice on awakening the Ten-Wolf Gun.
On the way, they find a caravan being attacked by monsters and rush in to help.
Vyrn: Okay, that takes care of most of 'em!
Monster: Gwoaar!
Caravan Child: Aaah!
Lyria: Watch out!
Lyria leaps in front to defend the child just as he's about to be attacked by a monster.
Lyria: ...!
Monster: Grooaar...
A gunshot rings out, and a single bullet pierces the monster.
Lyria: Phew, that was too close!
Vyrn: Where'd that come from?
Well, no use asking questions! Let's take care of these monsters!
After successfully fending off the monsters, the crew escorts the thankful caravan to safety.
Vyrn: Whew, that was a close one. I'm glad no one got hurt!
Lyria: Yeah! Okay, (Captain), should we go to Siero's now?
Tien: Mm... Long time no see.
Lyria: Ah! Hi, Tien! It's been a while since we last saw you!
Tien: Siero had to step out for a bit.
Vyrn: Oh yeah? Guess we'll just have to wait for her!
Tien: I hear you saved a caravan from monsters.
Lyria: Yes! But... how did you know?
Tien: There's always someone watching...
Tien: Which reminds me: weren't you in the middle of escorting that caravan? Is it okay for you to be here?
Vyrn: Oh no, we just bumped into them on the road; it's not like we were escorting them or anything.
Tien: So you helped them... for free?
Lyria: Of course! Helping people in need is the right thing to do!
Tien: Hm... You're a good bunch.
Vyrn: Hehe! Keep the compliments comin'!
Tien: Anyway, I'm glad I bumped into you here. I was going to leave a message with Siero about the revenant weapons.
Lyria: You found some information for us? Thank you!
Tien: Mm. The revenant weapons were created long ago and the Ten-Wolf Gun is one of them.
Tien: Fearing its power to split the heavens and pierce the stars, the Ten-Wolf Gun was sealed.
Vyrn: Geez... These revenant weapons sound seriously crazy.
Tien: Mm... With a gun, you can hurt others and even kill simply by pulling the trigger. No skill or guts required.
Tien: Which is exactly why they need to be handled with such caution.
Lyria: You're absolutely right, Tien.
Tien: And it's all the more true for revenant weapons. There's a reason they're sealed.
Tien: What do you plan to do with the Ten-Wolf Gun? Think it through carefully.
Tien: If you don't... you'll become the threat.
Tien: Mm... Sorry for getting so dark there. I'm not saying you should stop trying to awaken the Ten-Wolf Gun.
Lyria: Right! You just want to make sure we're careful about how we use it!
Lyria: It's okay. (Captain) would never do anything bad with it!
Tien: Mm... I hope you're right.
Sierokarte: Ah! Sorry to keep you waiting!
Tien: Mm... You've returned. I'll be heading back then.
Vyrn: Okay! Thanks for tellin' us about the revenant weapons!
Tien: I'm probably worrying over nothing. But if I'm not...
Tien: ...
Tien considers the impending awakening of the Ten-Wolf Gun to be a grave matter.
What will her verdict be when the weapon's true power is unleashed?

I Want to Believe You

Tien appears before the crew after they awaken the Ten-Wolf Gun. She remarks that even the purest of people can turn malevolent and challenges (Captain) to a test of strength.

(Captain) finally succeeds in awakening the Ten-Wolf Gun.
Sierokarte is invited aboard the Grandcypher to celebrate.
Lyria: It sure took a lot of work, but we did it!
Sierokarte: I'm so impressed by the level of dedication you demonstrated back there, (Captain)!
Vyrn: Good going, (Captain)! I'm so happy I could wolf down a shipload of apples!
(Captain) and crew chat amiably until a certain visitor arrives.
Tien: I'll only trouble you for a moment, (Captain). Mm... You're here too, Siero?
Lyria: Oh, hello, Tien!
Tien: Mm... I've come to thank you for exterminating the monsters that plagued the city streets.
Tien: Those monsters made it impossible for me to get any cargo to Stardust Town.
Vyrn: Oh, that was a total coincidence! Glad to be of help either way though!
Tien: My brothers and sisters send their regards as well. Thank you so much.
Tien: Mm... This feeling... You've awakened the Ten-Wolf Gun, haven't you, (Captain)?
Lyria: That's right! It wasn't easy, but we've finally awakened it!
Tien: (Captain)... You extend a helping hand to many different people.
Tien: That's a wonderful thing. The world would be a much better place with more people like you.
Tien: But even the most altruistic of people can stray off course. I've seen it happen many times.
Tien: So I must admit... your awakening of a revenant weapon frightens me.
Vyrn: Whoa, hold on! (Captain) isn't gonna misuse that thing!
Tien: Mm... A powerful bond connects you all. I want to believe that will prevent you from being led astray.
Tien: Which is all the more reason to do this...
Tien: ...
Lyria: Tien?
Tien: Prove to me that your kindness is strong enough to see you through any hardship.

I Want to Believe You: Scene 2

Tien understands what a kind person (Captain) is, but in order to truly understand the crew, she decides to join them.

Tien: Looks like I lose this one.
Tien: ...
Tien: Siero mentioned it before. The Eternals are considered a menace to all the skies.
Tien: One day... the same may be said of you.
Lyria: But (Captain) would never do anything evil!
Tien: Mm... I see that you're a very kind person. And that's the part of you I want to trust.
Tien: However, I still do not know the real you.
Tien: I want to see you for who you really are. That's why I've decided to join your crew.
  1. You intend to monitor me?
  2. You're so serious, Tien.

Choose: You intend to monitor me?
Tien: Mm... If that's how you want to think of it, go right ahead.
Tien: But I genuinely think you're good people. I want to become better acquainted with all of you, if possible.

Choose: You're so serious, Tien.
Tien: Mm... You think so?
Sierokarte: You're always worrying about your brothers and sisters.
Sierokarte: I guess that's why you tend to overthink the future!
Tien: Perhaps.
Continue 1
Tien: Mm... You'll let me join you if I help with assignments? I'd be glad to.
Lyria: It would be so reassuring to have an Eternal like you on board, Tien!
Vyrn: Got that right! Whatever calamity you're worried about isn't gonna happen, Gun Girl!
Vyrn: Anyway, the more powerful friends we have, the better!
Tien: Mm... Thank you, everyone. I look forward to traveling with you.
Lyria: I can give you a tour inside the Grandcypher right away!
Tien: I'd appreciate it, Lyria.
Lyria: All right! Let me show you to the bridge first!
After Tien leaves the deck with Lyria, Sierokarte whispers into (Captain)'s ear.
Sierokarte: Tien went through an awful lot in her younger days.
Sierokarte: That's why she often feels uneasy about anything possessing great power.
Sierokarte: I can vouch for her being a kind and wonderful person, so I hope you all get along!
(Captain) nods, and Sierokarte breathes a sigh of relief.
Because of her concern for others, Tien remains ever vigilant about her surroundings.
But perhaps that may change during her journey with (Captain)'s crew.

May My Words Reach You

When a flustered clerk at Stardust Town pleads to Tien for help with a group of ruffians, the crew readily follows her to the shop.

The crew travels to Stardust Town to meet all of Tien's younger brothers and sisters.
Vyrn: Huh? We've been passing through some shady neighborhoods, but this area looks really nice.
Tien: Mm... This area used to be a slum run by the mafia, just like the other neighborhoods around here.
Lyria: Wow, really? It must have taken a lot of work to get the town to where it is now.
Tien: Mm... The street children and the mafia were at odds with each other for a long time...
Tien: Things only started to settle down after my brother Feower and I took over.
Vyrn: Gotcha... So this town's a monument to all your hard work!
Tien: Mm... I don't want the kids here to have to fight anymore.
Lyria: I understand, Tien. What matters most is that everyone can live here in peace.
Tien: Mm... That's for sure.
Clerk: Tien! We need your help!
Tien: Slow down and tell me what happened.
Clerk: Um, well! Some customers came in to the shop and started making complaints...
Clerk: The manager's trying to talk them down, but they look like they could get violent any minute now! I can tell!
Tien: Mm... Okay. I'll talk to them.
Tien: Sorry, (Captain). I need to check this out.
Vyrn: Hey, we're comin' too! There's more than one of 'em, so you're gonna need backup!
Tien: Mm... Thanks, I appreciate it. The store is this way.
Ruffian: Do you think we're playing house here? Show us your real wares—not this worthless junk you've got on display!
Manager: I told you! Everything we have is of the highest quality! You're just using them wrong!
Ruffian: The hell you say? Don't think I'm gonna be nice to you just because you're a kid, kid!
Just as the angry ruffian raises his fist, Tien comes running into the store.
Tien: Mm... The products being sold here are all imported from another town. If you have complaints, go and tell them.
Ruffian: Humph, this store's just full of brats selling cheap junk!
Tien: These kids are professional merchants. They're able to get these products from another town because they're good at what they do.
Tien: I believe you should be able to tell that just by looking at the shelves.
Ruffian: Grrr!
Tien: It really makes you look petty when you harass people like this, you know.
Ruffian: Shut your trap! Don't talk to me like that, you dumb brat!
Tien: You want to get violent? Then I'll have to respond in kind.
Vyrn: Let's bring some more firepower to this gunfight, (Captain)!

May My Words Reach You: Scene 2

(Captain) and company stay the night after driving the ruffians away. The crew heads out the next morning and finds a caravan being attacked by monsters.

Ruffian: Aaargh! This isn't over!
Vyrn: Hey! They're getting away!
Tien: It's fine, Vyrn. Going after them will only cause more trouble.
Lyria: Are you sure? Maybe if we catch them and explain—
Tien: That's exactly what I'd do if they were outsiders who happened to stop by and saw this town in the wrong light.
Tien: But they're not. The mafia sent them to harass the store.
Vyrn: Say what? They've got some nerve!
Tien: Mm... This town belongs to the street children, so there aren't very many adults.
Tien: That's why the mafia looks down on us. They think they can wipe this town off the map whenever they want.
Tien: Once our generation grows up... I think things will improve.
Vyrn: Hmm... I never really thought about it, but you're still kinda young too.
Tien: Mm... Bringing stability to a town takes time, but we can do it. I'm sure of that.
Manager: Tien, thanks so much for coming. And sorry for all the trouble, skyfarers.
Vyrn: Don't worry about it! We've gotta help each other out!
Clerk: Thanks, mister lizard! You're going to be in town today, right, Tien? Why don't you all stay here tonight?
Vyrn: I ain't no lizard!
Lyria: Now, now, Vyrn. Let's take them up on their offer!
Manager: Please do! There are some empty rooms upstairs.
And so (Captain) and company spend a night in Stardust Town. They wake up the following morning to find the manager in a pickle.
Manager: What to do... I can't open the store like this.
Tien: Mm... What's wrong?
Manager: Oh! Good morning, everyone.
Clerk: The stock that was supposed to be delivered today hasn't come in. I wonder if something happened to the caravan...
Tien: Mm... Wait here. I'll go check it out.
Manager: Thanks, Tien... Hm, maybe something happened in the slums?
Lyria: Going by yourself is too dangerous! (Captain), why don't we help Tien?
Tien: Sorry, (Captain). Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
(Captain) and company leave Stardust Town and head for the slums.
Monster: Grrooar!
Vyrn: We may be in the slums, but monsters in the city? What's going on?
Tien: Those monsters are attacking the caravan that goes to Stardust Town!
Tien: Mm... We have to stop them. Back me up, (Captain).

May My Words Reach You: Scene 3

Tien suspects that the monsters are acting on someone's orders. The crew finds the monster tamer in a corner of the back alley. He blames Tien for his father's death and sics more monsters on her.

(Captain) and company defeat the monsters and rescue the caravan. Luckily nobody is injured.
Lyria: Oh good... It looks like the cargo wasn't damaged. Let's bring it back to town.
Tien: Wait! There's a hideout nearby. Let's hide the merchants there.
Vyrn: Huh? Why don't we just bring them with us to town?
Tien: Mm... I've never seen monsters like those around here before.
Tien: Whoever's controlling the monsters must have ordered them to attack. And this monster tamer must be watching from somewhere nearby.
Vyrn: Say what? We need to find that evildoer!
Tien: Mm... That's why I need the merchants to hide while we search.
Tien leads the merchants into hiding, then rejoins the crew in searching the slums for the monster tamer.
Eventually (Captain) and company find the man they are searching for in the corner of a back alley.
Tien: You're not getting away.
Monster Tamer: Ugh! My precious monsters... How dare you!
Ruffian: Tch! You and your monsters are useless!
Lyria: Oh my gosh! That's the person who was causing trouble at the store yesterday!
Vyrn: He must've attacked the caravan for revenge!
Ruffian: Shut up, shut up, shut up! Every one of you deserves a good beating from me!
Tien: I guess you don't understand that I spared you yesterday.
Monster Tamer: Y-you! You're one of the twins, aren't you?
Tien: Mm... That's right. I'm the sister, Tien.
Monster Tamer: Damn it! I-it's all your fault! My father died because of you two!
Monster Tamer: My father was in the mafia! Then one day he ended up in a fight against you street children... and never came home!
Tien: I see... Then you have every right to hate me.
Monster Tamer: Don't give me that! I'm gonna avenge my father right here, right now! Sic 'em, boys!
Lyria: Oh no! He's targeting Tien! We have to stop those monsters, (Captain)!

May My Words Reach You: Scene 4

Tien lets the monster tamer go, remarking that she may one day pay the price for her past actions. With a brave yet sad smile, she makes clear her desire to end the chain of hatred with her.

Ruffian: Dammit, this isn't worth the trouble! I'm outta here!
Monster Tamer: Oh no! My monsters... My family!
Tien: If you wield a weapon, you must be prepared to be hurt yourself. It's no different for monsters.
Monster Tamer: Ugh...
Lyria: We'll have to wait until he calms down. Let's meet up with the merchants in the meantime.
Tien: Yeah. Let's go then.
As Tien turns away, the monster tamer pulls out a concealed knife and lunges at her.
Monster Tamer: Graaah!
Tien: ...
Though Tien doesn't go for her gun, (Captain) knocks the blade away before it can reach her.
Monster Tamer: Damn you, Tien! I'll never forgive you!
Tien: Mm... I'm sure you won't.
Vyrn: Gun Girl! Let's chase him down! Who knows what he'll do next?
Tien: No. It's okay, Vyrn.
Lyria: But why? Can't we talk it through with him?
Tien: Mm... It doesn't matter what we say to him. His hatred for me will never change.
Tien: I've done a lot of awful things. For my brothers and sisters... for survival.
Tien: So if I have to pay the price one day, it'll be well deserved.
Lyria: No! You only did what you had to!
Tien: It's fine. Hatred doesn't end until someone puts an end to it.
Tien: So if something happens to me, I don't want you to get involved.
Tien: I'd like to ask that you don't let my twin brother, Feower, or the kids in town do anything about it either.
Tien: I want to be the last one. The last link in the chain of hatred.
Lyria: Tien...
The crew is at a loss for words as Tien puts on a brave but sad smile.
They quietly wonder whether everything she's done for Stardust Town will one day pay off.

Chasing the Past

Tien sets out for the mafia hideout, eager to settle the score for setting fire to Stardust Town. (Captain) stands in her way.

The crew visits Stardust Town to receive a message from the children there.
Tien: Mm... It's been a while. Did something happen?
Merchant Jack: I heard this incredible rumor about revenant weapons, and I just had to let you guys know!
Merchant Jack: I took it with a grain of salt at first, of course. But considering that revenant weapons are supposedly mythical weapons, I figured there's gotta be some weight to the rumor!
Vyrn: Never underestimate the power of a rumor, I say. Anyway, I'm all ears!
Merchant Jack: Well, from what I can gather, it seems like your Ten-Wolf Gun isn't at full power yet.
Lyria: Not at full power? But it's already so strong!
Merchant Jack: I couldn't believe it at first either! But when you consider that these weapons played a major role in the War, it makes sense.
Merchant Jack: It seems ancient battlegrounds may hold the key to upgrading the revenant weapons even further.
Vyrn: Hmm... That's not exactly a lot to go on.
Lyria: Why don't we try visting one of those battlefields with the Ten-Wolf Gun in hand?
Tien: Mm... I would advise you to consider this carefully, (Captain).
Tien: The Ten-Wolf Gun is incredibly powerful as it is. What would you do with an even stronger version of it?
Tien: I know you're not one to abuse power, but...
Tien: The mere existence of something that powerful affects everything around it.
(Captain) nods at Tien's grave warning.
At the urging of the children in Stardust Town, the crew decides to stay the night.
Vyrn: Wh-what was that sound just now?
Tien: ...!
Lyria: Tien, wait for us! (Captain), we should check it out too!
By the time (Captain) and company arrive at the scene, the town is in an uproar.
Clerk Jill: We need to put out the fire!
Merchant Jack: Assemble everyone capable of first aid, stat!
Vyrn: Holy smokes! What's going on here?
Tien: A mafia hit...
Lyria: Huh?
Clerk Jill: Can you guys help carry the water?
Lyria: O-of course! (Captain), Tien, let's help put out the fire!
Tien: ...!
Right. We have to act fast!
Thanks to the crew's help, the spread of the fire and any resulting injuries are kept to a minimum.
But the tense, grim atmosphere that has settled over Stardust Town remains.
Clerk Jill: This is the mafia's doing, isn't it?
Merchant Jack: Sure seems like it. Who else would profit from doing such a thing?
Vyrn: They're gonna pay for this! Tien, let us know if there's anything we can do to help!
Tien: ...
Clerk Jill: Tien? What's wrong? Did you get hurt back there?
Tien: Ah, no, it's nothing... I'll be fine.
Clerk Jill: ...?
The crew decides to wait until morning before patching up the parts of the store damaged in the fire.
(Captain) awakens in the night, feeling as though someone else has left the room.
Realizing it's Tien, (Captain) goes after her.
Tien: Decided to tag along, (Captain)?
Tien: Where am I going, you ask? To the mafia hideout of course.
Tien: As far as they're concerned, Feower and I pretty much represent Stardust Town.
Tien: I figure if I give myself up, I might be able to wipe the slate clean.
Tien: It's worth a shot at least.
Tien: You remember how I asked you to stop Feower and the children from trying to avenge me?
Tien: But knowing how kind you are, I bet you'll try to stop me before it even gets that far.
Tien: I saw this coming, but I can't stop now.
Tien: Mm... Sorry, but I have to go through with this!

Chasing the Past: Scene 2

(Captain) brings an unconscious Tien back to Stardust Town and explains to the children what she is attempting to do. They suggest getting her away from Stardust Town to prevent her from taking such reckless action. (Captain) agrees and takes Tien aboard the Grandcypher.

Tien: (Captain), no...
(Captain) carries an unconscious Tien back to the inn in town.
Lyria: Ah, (Captain)! What happened? I heard gunshots...
Merchant Jack: Tien! Was this another mafia hit?
(Captain) calms everyone down before explaining what happened.
Clerk Jill: I can't believe Tien would do such a thing...
Vyrn: Well, that's Gun Girl for ya, but still...
Merchant Jack: I have an idea, (Captain). Could you take Tien away from Stardust Town before she wakes up?
Merchant Jack: She's probably going to try to give herself up to the mafia again if she stays.
Clerk Jill: You're right... She always tries to shoulder the burden herself so that we don't have to.
Lyria: I guess getting Tien out of Stardust Town might be best for her.
Merchant Jack: Don't worry about the mafia. We've dealt with them more times than we can count. We'll be fine.
At the behest of the children of Stardust Town, (Captain) decides to bring Tien aboard the Grandcypher.
Whether this will turn out to be a wise decision remains to be seen.

Invitation to War

The Ten-Wolf Gun calls out to Tien, promising her great power. They face off in a trial of strength.

Now aboard the Grandcypher, Tien decides to give up on pursuing the mafia for the time being.
Yet the uneasiness in her heart remains. She spends day after day in constant worry.
Tien: (Everything we've done up to this point has caused nothing but suffering for my little brothers and sisters.)
Tien: ...
Tien: (This is no time to be pouting. I need to think of something...)
Tien: (I just want them to grow up to be happy and well-adjusted adults.)
Tien: (If we become the strongest in the skies like Feower always talks about, will we actually be able to protect Stardust Town?)
Tien: (Whose voice is that? I wonder if anyone's up...)
Tien turns in the direction of the voice and takes a walk through the Grandcypher for a change of pace.
Tien: It doesn't feel like I'm hearing it so much as it's reverberating around inside my head.
Tien: ...
She lightens her footsteps and carefully tries to trace where the voice is coming from.
Tien: Who's there? Why are you calling out to me?
???: ...
Tien: ...!
The Ten-Wolf Gun!
Ten-Wolf Gun: Indeed. I am the Ten-Wolf Gun. I serve as one of the revenant weapons.
Tien: How is this possible?
Ten-Wolf Gun: I do not mind your astonishment, lass. The fact that you're able to hear my voice at all proves your skill as a master gunner.
Tien: Mm... I use a gun. That much is true.
Ten-Wolf Gun: Not bad... Not bad at all. I believe you have what it takes to draw out my true power.
Ten-Wolf Gun: But before that... allow me to test your might and see if you are truly worthy of brandishing me.
Tien: Test my might? What do you mean?
Ten-Wolf Gun: Hahaha! Fight and try to overpower me! Or die trying!
A flummoxed Tien looks on as sparks fly from the Ten-Wolf Gun.

Invitation to War: Scene 2

Entranced by the thought of a safe future for her little siblings, Tien reaches out to the Ten-Wolf Gun, which draws her into a never-ending battle.

Tien: ...
Ten-Wolf Gun: That's right, lass! Take me in your hands! Revel in the power of a revenant weapon!
Tien: Mm... If you want someone to use you that badly, why not ask (Captain), the one who found you?
Ten-Wolf Gun: Take me in hand... and you will gain the indomitable strength you've always desired.
Ten-Wolf Gun: I know your pain and suffering, lass. Do you not wish to protect your beloved siblings?
Tien: Indomitable power... Power great enough to protect my brothers and sisters...
Allured by the Ten-Wolf Gun's tempting proposal, Tien reaches out.
Tien: ...!
Ten-Wolf Gun: Yes, come unto me. Together we shall show the world our true strength!
Tien: I...
The Ten-Wolf Gun speaks directly to Tien's conflicted heart.
Its charming words pull her in, inviting her to partake in an eternal struggle.

Ballad of Bullets

Having given up a part of her conscience, Tien points the Ten-Wolf Gun at her visiting twin brother, Feower.

In order to gain power to protect her siblings, Tien gives in to the call of the Ten-Wolf Gun,
Unaware of this, her twin brother, Feower, pays a visit to discuss upcoming plans for the town.
Feower: Sis? I'm coming in.
Tien: ...
Feower: You could've said something if you were awake, you know.
Tien: Hey... Feower...
Tien: If we come to be known as the strongest, do you think people will really stop trying to lay their hands on Stardust Town?
Feower: What's this all of a sudden? Isn't that why we became Eternals in the first place?
Tien: Yes... that's right...
Tien points a gun at Feower, and his eyes widen with shock.
Feower: Sis, what are you—
Tien: Feower. Follow me outside.
Tien: I have to defeat you. I have to attain the title of strongest in the skies.
Feower: Have you lost your mind, Sis?
Tien: If I have to do away with you in order to protect all my other siblings in Stardust Town, then so be it.
Feower: Ha... Ahaha... I don't know what's gotten into you, but...
Feower: This is a pretty good prank coming from you... If you're ready to come out of your shell and prove yourself, then come at me, Sis!
Feower: (Is she under some kind of spell?)
Feower: (Whatever the case... I'm gonna have to fight her!)

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 2

The defeated Feower wonders what could have possibly happened to his kindhearted sister, who moves on to her next target.

Feower: Gwaah!
Tien: That's one down.
Feower: Wait, Sis... I can still...
As the defeated Feower tries to get back up, Tien takes one last cold look at him before turning away.
Feower: Tch... What in the skies is happening here...
What could have possibly happened to the once kindhearted Tien? Nary a soul knows.

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 3

Unaware of Tien's current condition, Fif visits Stardust Town for a day of fun. Despite Fif's vow to help Tien protect the town, Tien ambushes her.

Tien has already finished dueling her twin brother, Feower.
Oblivious to this fact, Fif pays Tien a visit.
Fif: Ah, there she is! Yoo-hoo, Tien! If you're free, let's go out and play!
Tien: ...
Fif: Ohh... I guess you're not feeling too well? I heard all about it from the kids in Stardust Town. Cheer up, okay?
Fif: It's not your fault the mafia attacked the town! I'll be there next time it happens!
Fif: Huh? T-Tien, what's gotten into you?
Tien: If I defeat all the Eternals... I will be crowned strongest of all.
Tien: I'll defeat them... All of them! I'm going to... protect the children!
Fif: T-Tien! I'm right here if you want to talk!
Tien: ...!
Fif: Wah! I don't know what's happening anymore!
Tien pays no heed to her friend's confusion and points the Ten-Wolf Gun at her.

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 4

Sensing the victorious Tien's intent to kill, Fif summons the last of her magical power to teleport away. Tien searches for her next opponent.

Fif: Urgh... Tien, you poopyhead! I thought we were friends!
Tien: ...
Fif: Eep!
Fif crumbles to the ground after a long, hard-fought battle. Tien points the Ten-Wolf Gun at her without the slightest hint of hesitation.
Tien: She's gone...
Fif summons the very last of her power to teleport away.
Tien: I shall be feared as the strongest... and crush the mafia...
Tien: With my own two hands!
No longer the calm and serene person that everyone once knew, Tien sets out for her next battle against the remaining Eternals.

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 5

Eahta appears before a wandering Tien. Seeing that Tien is not herself, he draws his katanas for combat.

Eahta appears before Tien as she wanders the skies with the Ten-Wolf Gun in hand.
Eahta: I see. Malicious spirits have taken hold of you.
Tien: Eahta...
Eahta: We meet under less than auspicious circumstances... but so be it.
Eahta: Let us begin!

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 6

Eahta falters in the face of devastating blows from Tien, likening her reckless use of power to that of a savage beast. He then leaves the battle halfway through, leaving Tien to search for her next prey.

Tien: You're not getting away!
Eahta falters in the face of Tien's devastating attacks and tries to create some distance.
Eahta: How empty your soul must be. Your reliance on brute strength is no different from that of a savage beast.
Tien: If becoming a beast is what it takes to protect everyone's livelihoods, then become a beast I will!
Eahta: The clashing of our words and weapons mean naught if you cannot set your sights on what is true and just.
Eahta: I may not be the one to do it... but someone will stop you eventually.
Tien: I won't be stopped. I can't be stopped. I now possess power greater than anyone!
Eahta vanishes before Tien's bullet hits its mark.
Tien: With this power... I can...
Tien stops mid-sentence and continues searching for her next prey.

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 7

Tweyen checks in on the power-hungry Tien and ends up having to fend for her life.

With Eahta taken care of, Tien continues roaming the skies with the Ten-Wolf Gun in hand.
Tweyen appears before Tien, whose eyes are now hollow and devoid of all emotion.
Tien: ...
Tweyen: ...
Tweyen: Fif told me everything. It's been a long time since a fellow Eternal contacted me, so I wasn't sure what to expect...
Tweyen: Care to tell me what's going on? This isn't like you at all, you know.
Tien: Tweyen...
Tweyen: Go on. I'm all ears.
Tien: I must defeat my fellow Eternals to earn the title of strongest in all the skies...
Tien: Then I will use that might to utterly obliterate those who might lay a finger on my family.
Tien: When all is said and done, my little brothers and sisters won't have to suffer ever again.
Tweyen: Do you seriously believe that?
Tien: ...
Tweyen: I can feel your murderous aura. It's like the feeling one gets from two beasts facing off in the wild... but ever so slightly different.
Tweyen: It's too bad. I was hoping our conversation would have ended differently.
Tweyen: But so be it. Allow me to take you on.

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 8

Questioning Tien's recent bloodlust, the beaten Tweyen manages to fly away at the last moment.

Tweyen: Urgh... Impressive, Tien...
Tien: ...
Tweyen: I can't believe you're really going through with this... How could you point your gun at your friends... especially a child like Fif?
Tien: I'll do anything for my siblings...
Tweyen: Considering how fanatical you've become, I don't doubt that for a second.
Using her powers of flight, Tweyen slips through Tien's bullets and escapes.
Tien: ...
Tien's eyes are empty and hollow as she chases Tweyen's tracks through the skies.

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 9

Tien senses Niyon and immediately fires the Ten-Wolf Gun at her. Niyon hears the somber melodies coming from Tien and realizes they must do battle.

After Tweyen's retreat, Tien continues her hunt of the other Eternals.
Tien: ...!
There!
Niyon: How mean. I didn't take you for the type to shoot first and ask questions later.
Tien: Try and hide all you want. It doesn't matter. I will become the strongest.
Niyon: Tweyen and Fif said I might stand a chance, but I doubt it.
Niyon: Your melody has turned into a deafening cacophony. I don't know how that happened, but I did not wish to meet you like this.
Niyon: One who fights to protect their loved ones would not play such dreadful, earsplitting notes. What is it that has led you down this path, Tien?
Tien: You can take all the time you want to figure it out...
Tien: After you defeat me!

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 10

Having lost interest in Niyon after subduing her, Tien turns away. Niyon realizes everything could have been avoided if Tien had spoken to Seofon or Anre first.

Niyon: That weapon... The Ten-Wolf Gun has played you like a fiddle. It has warped your once dulcet tones into a dreadful discord...
Tien: The Ten-Wolf Gun grants me the power to protect my siblings!
Having lost interest in the defeated Niyon, Tien turns away.
Niyon: You can no longer see. You can no longer hear.
Niyon: If only you had spoken to Seofon or Anre first...
Niyon's musings fail to reach Tien.

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 11

At Seofon's urging Threo seeks out Tien for a playdate. Their romp begins with Threo challenging Tien to a duel.

Tien has all but lost her sense of self to the Ten-Wolf Gun as she continues her battle against the other Eternals.
Threo readily appears before her.
Threo: Found you, Tien!
Tien: I could say the same, Threo.
Threo: Yeah? Well, perfect! Here we are now!
Threo: Seofon asked me to rough you up! I mean... slow you down!
Threo: And I'm here to do just that!

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 12

A battered Threo clamors for a rematch, explaining that survival of the fittest is the way of the world. This, however, only compels Tien to become stronger and she rushes off.

Threo: Damn it! I demand a rematch!
Tien: You seem to think... this is some kind of game.
Tien: Is stealing from the weak that pleasurable to you?
Threo: Huh? It's just survival of the fittest! That's how the world works!
Threo: You're super duper strong, but you still worry about crap getting stolen from you? That is just sad, girl!
Tien: ...!
Tien: I'm far from strong... I have to get stronger... or else!
Threo: O-or else what? What's going on with you?
Tien pays no heed to Threo and rushes away toward the underbrush.
On her face is an expression of deep anguish.

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 13

With Seofon being the closed book he is, Tien keeps her guard up at the sight of him but immediately turns aggressive when provoked.

Tien leaves Threo behind and rushes headfirst into the forest, arriving at a town on the other end.
Tien: ...
A voice from the alleyway calls out to her as she stares at the bustling crowds.
Seofon: How's it going, Tien? Something catch your eye?
Tien: ...!
When did you—
Seofon: Whoa! Stop right there! No shooting at first sight, please. Niyon was pretty upset, y'know.
Seofon: And what's with that weird look on your face? That's not the Tien I know. Reminds me of Feower from way back when though.
Tien: ...!
Tien brushes him off and rushes to the outskirts of town.
Seofon: Hey, hold up! I'm still talking!
Seofon: Listen up, Ten-Wolf!
Tien: What?
Seofon: Don't think you're getting away so easily after cajoling my dear Tien here!
Seofon: (Is this truly what Tien wants? Or is it all the Ten-Wolf Gun's doing?)
Seofon: You want to be the strongest, right? And you're gonna just ignore little ol' Seofon here and go on your merry way? That's cold!
Seofon: Or were you saving me—the best—for last? Y'know, to make things a little extra exciting?
Tien: You sound pretty sure of yourself.
Seofon: (Humph. Not much of a reaction, eh? That's so Tien.)
Seofon: Hey, I don't call myself the leader of the Eternals for nothing. Surely you know that much.
Seofon: (Wait. She probably doesn't... The Ten-Wolf Gun's got its fangs in deep.)
Tien: If I defeat you, will people stop trying to hurt my poor little brothers and sisters?
Seofon: Is that what this is about?
(So that's the idea the gun's been bombarding her with.)
Seofon: Whatever's going on here, I need you to let go of the Ten-Wolf Gun, Tien!
Tien: I'll never hand it over! Ever!

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 14

Seofon is no match for Tien's overwhelming strength. As she walks away, Seofon considers ways to separate her from the Ten-Wolf Gun without hurting her.

Seofon: Cripes! No wonder you beat the other Eternals!
Seofon: (I just wanted to gauge her strength, but it's way beyond what I expected...)
Tien: ...
Seofon: Huh? You're gonna let me go just like that?
Seofon: (Guess she's not interested in hanging out with the folks she's beaten down.)
Seofon: (If we don't stop Tien soon, there's gonna be repercussions for her when she finally breaks free of the Ten-Wolf Gun.)
Seofon: (There's gotta be something we can do...)
As Tien leaves the forest, Seofon mulls over how best to help her.
Only time will tell if the Eternals are able to eventually restore Tien to her true self.

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 15

At Seofon's request Seox ambushes Tien in an attempt to snatch the Ten-Wolf Gun by force.

Seofon works double-time to save Tien from the clutches of the Ten-Wolf Gun.
He asks Seox, one of the Eternals, to seek her out.
Seox: Give me a break... I'm taking orders from him now?
Tien: ...
Seox: There she is! Word is she'll turn back to normal if I can separate her from the Ten-Wolf Gun.
Seox fades into the shadows in preparation for a surprise attack.
Seox: Kieeeiii!
Tien: ...!
Seox: Tch! I can't believe you dodged that!
Seox: But no one beats me up close! That gun is mine!

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 16

Tien overcomes Seox and makes her way toward the final Eternal, Anre.

Seox: How... could I...
Tien: Now there's just one Eternal left.
Tien: I'm going to beat all of you... and become the strongest.
Tien: And then... the mafia will be put away for eternity!
Tien pays no attention to the collapsed Seox as she walks off in search of Anre, the final Eternal.

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 17

Anre stands quietly before Tien, warning that he will give no quarter. Tien, too, shows no signs of conceding.

As instructed by the Ten-Wolf Gun, Tien continues on her path of total domination against the Eternals.
Standing quietly before her is the spear-wielding Eternal, Anre.
Anre: I'd be lying if I told you I didn't foresee the Eternals breaking apart from the inside.
Anre: But I never imagined someone as kindhearted as you being the one to make it a reality.
Tien: I only wish to provide a life of peace for my brothers and sisters...
Tien: If that requires bloodying my hands... then I will happily do so.
Anre: If someone as powerful as you seeks war, I have no choice but to stop you.
Anre: It will be difficult to hold back against you... I doubt I'll be able to separate you from that Ten-Wolf Gun of yours...
Anre: Sorry, Tien. I can't afford to pull any punches.
Tien: I don't need your mercy! I'm going to defeat you and show the world how strong I truly am!

Ballad of Bullets: Scene 18

With all of the Eternals defeated, Tien earns the title of strongest. Her next destination: the mafia hideout.

Anre: Power begets peace. To rid the world of war through absolute power... has been my life's goal.
Tien: And in the end it was nothing but a pipe dream. Even with all the power you have, you did nothing to help us.
Tien: As the oldest kids in our group, we fought tooth and nail every day to build Stardust Town.
Tien: After so much fighting and bloodshed, we finally carved out a place we could call home... A place with warm beds to sleep in.
Tien: You only talk high-and-mighty because you don't know what it's like for those of us who've been in the trenches.
Anre: I suppose I cannot deny your existence...
Anre: I thought I might have to defeat you if you became a threat to the world... yet I have failed.
Tien looks down coldly at Anre before listlessly walking away.
Tien: This makes me... the strongest.
Tien: Now to annihilate the mafia... and my little brothers and sisters will finally be able to live in peace.
Tien: ...
Tien: Truly?
Despite being under the control of the Ten-Wolf Gun, Tien begins having doubts.
Yet she does not stop in her tracks. Her next target: the mafia.

Pulling Back from the Brink

Seofon and Feower recruit the help of (Captain) to bring Tien to her senses. (Captain) and Tien try to reason out their differences at first, but Tien insists the captain stop her by taking the Ten-Wolf Gun from her by force.

Having defeated the nine other Eternals, Tien sets out for the mafia hideout—to obliterate the mortal enemy of her siblings once and for all.
Feower and Seofon seek out (Captain) and company to ask for help.
Vyrn: What the? She's heading off to face the mafia alone? Again?
Vyrn: (Captain) went to all that trouble stopping her, and this is the thanks we get...
Lyria: I know Tien's doing her best to protect the children of Stardust Town, but this is too reckless!
Seofon: The Ten-Wolf Gun is manipulating her purest desires to do its bidding.
Lyria: The Ten-Wolf Gun's doing this? But why?
Seofon: It's been left alone for so long that it now wishes only to be wielded by the strongest.
Feower: That doesn't give it the right to string my sister along like a puppet!
Feower: I'd go myself, but... honestly I'm still hurting from when I fought against her earlier.
Feower: (Captain), will you lend us your strength in order to bring my sister back to her senses?
(Captain) consents to Feower's earnest plea.
Seofon: There's no telling when the mafia's gonna show their ugly mugs around here again.
Seofon: I'll stay behind in Stardust Town with Feower just in case. You'll have to take it from here, guys. Sorry.
Entrusted with this most important task, (Captain) gets Tien's location from Seofon and heads out.
Tien: ...
Lyria: Tien! Wait!
Tien: Lyria? (Captain)? I figured you guys might show up.
Tien: My gut told me you'd be the last one to try and stop me.
Lyria: Pull yourself together, Tien! Don't you see that the Ten-Wolf Gun is controlling you?
Vyrn: Drop the weapon already! Then we can go back to Stardust Town together. Everyone's worried sick about you!
Tien: I can't.
Lyria: But why?
Tien: I... I'm going to protect my siblings with the Ten-Wolf Gun's power!
Tien: If you want to stop me, then come at me with everything you've got!

Pulling Back from the Brink: Scene 2

(Captain) manages to take back the Ten-Wolf Gun, returning Tien to normal. They return to Stardust Town, where Tien sheds tears of joy at the affection of the children.

Tien: Ngh!
(Captain) quickly snatches the Ten-Wolf Gun from Tien while she is collapsed on the ground.
Tien: Ugh...
Lyria: Are you all right, Tien? Please tell us you're okay!
Tien: Lyria... I... I'm...
Vyrn: How you feelin'? Does it hurt anywhere? The Ten-Wolf Gun had you under its spell this whole time!
Tien: The Ten-Wolf Gun... That's right... I was speaking to it, and then...
Tien: Oh, I'm so sorry... I remember it all now. All the trouble I caused you.
Tien: How could I ever call myself the strongest if I let the Ten-Wolf Gun control me so easily...
Vyrn: It's not your fault, Gun Girl! It just latched onto your deepest fears and wouldn't let go!
Tien: Thank you, Vyrn. But I...
Tien: Mm... Just goes to show how weak I am... How can I protect my siblings like this?
(Captain) helps bring the downcast Tien to her feet.
(Captain) and company escort Tien back to Stardust Town.
Clerk Jill: Ah! Tien! (Captain)! Welcome back!
Having been briefed on the situation by Feower, the children happily welcome the crew back.
Tien: ...
Merchant Jack: Tien, thank goodness you're okay.
Tien: Sorry.
Merchant Jack: Oh, no, no. We're the ones that should be sorry!
Clerk Jill: Since we're just kids, we always let you and Feower handle the hard stuff.
Clerk Jill: But we should change that. It's not fair to you!
Tien: But I...
Merchant Jack: I get what it is you want to say, Tien. I know we've always had the oldest children undertake the hardest jobs in order.
Merchant Jack: But let's put an end to that. Overcoming our struggles should be a group effort!
Tien: ...
Merchant Jack: It's gonna be tough. It's gonna be painful. It might even be rougher than death itself!
Clerk Jill: But the important thing is that we'll be together. You'll never have to feel lonely again, Tien.
Merchant Jack: So let's live. It might not be pretty, we might get hurt, but we'll be alive... together.
Tien: Jack, Jill...
Touched by the heartfelt words of the children she's always fought so hard to protect, Tien quietly sheds tears of joy.
The future of Stardust Town remains uncertain.
But one thing's for sure—Tien's been changed by this cathartic experience forever.

Someone out There Loves You

It's been a while since the Ten-Wolf Gun manipulated Tien into dueling the other Eternals. The children of Stardust Town think that Tien is too selfless and want her to relax, so they ask the crew to treat Tien to a small vacation under the guise of a mission. While the crew enjoys a day off with Tien, they tell her how much she means to them. She's taken aback by the attention but graciously accepts their feedback.

Tien had attacked her fellow Eternals while under the influence of the Ten-Wolf Gun. (Captain) was the one who broke the gun's spell.
Things have since returned to normal following that incident. (Captain) and company are now shopping in a merchant town.
Tien: What a stroke of luck. I'm glad they had wheat and salt in stock. That should get us through the crunch for now.
Vyrn: Yep! We made the order just in time! The store said they'll deliver it to the airship for us.
Lyria: That's a relief! We bought so much stuff it would take a bunch of trips to carry everything back ourselves.
Tien: Sorry for calling you out on such short notice, (Captain). This is my fault for doing a poor job of managing Stardust Town's supplies.
Tien: Business with other islands has been ramping up, which means more visitors and more mouths to feed.
Vyrn: But isn't that a good thing? Stardust Town needs to grow!
Lyria: Yeah! Everyone's working really hard to make sure their own shops do well.
Tien: Mm, that's true. It'd be nice if the kids could become entirely self-reliant...
(Captain) glances at Tien, noticing the hint of gloom in her face. The captain remembers a conversation from a few days earlier.
Lyria: You want us to hang out with Tien?
Lively Jill: Uh-huh. She's been down in the dumps ever since that "thing" happened.
Vyrn: Wait, you mean that whole Ten-Wolf Gun fiasco? But the gun made her do that stuff!
Lively Jill: It doesn't matter. Tien has a strong sense of responsibility, so she tends blame herself a lot.
Vyrn: It's good to take responsibility, but there is such a thing as bein' too hard on yourself.
Lively Jill: Yep, yep. That's her all right. I just think she could use some rest and relaxation.
Lively Jill: Even if we invite her out to do fun stuff together, she'll end up acting like a chaperone instead of playing.
Lyria: I see... That's why you came to us.
Lively Jill: I know you guys are busy too, but can you help me?
Lyria: Sure! We'll get Tien to unwind!
Lyria: Right, (Captain)?
Vyrn: Question is, how do we get her to come with us? It's not like hangin' out is super urgent, so she'll find an excuse to shoot us down.
Lively Jill: I've got it covered! First we'll ask you guys to run some errands for us...
The plan concocted by the children of Stardust Town worked like a charm. Tien has been strolling with the crew for the better part of the day.
Vyrn: Now that we've got all the shopping done, let's go chill around town!
Vyrn: Know what I'm sayin', (Captain)?
Tien: Well, someone has to be at the ship to meet the delivery people.
Tien: If you all plan to stay here, then I'll head back first and wait for the shipment.
Lyria: Oh, um... The shopkeeper said it would take time to move the flour from the warehouse, so I'm sure we'll be safe!
Lyria: Right, (Captain)?
(Captain) nods and walks off toward the town square before Tien has a chance to say anything else.
Lyria: Let's go too, Tien!
Tien: Mm. All right.
Lyria grabs Tien by her hand and pulls the reluctant Eternal after (Captain).
Lyria: Wow! That's a huge ham!
Tien: It sure is! How many days could this shank feed the children for, I wonder?
Tien: Hm? Hey, look at that shop, Vyrn!
Vyrn: Oooh! Apples!
Lyria: Ah! Stop leaving us behind, Vyrn!
Tien: Haha, he really loves apples, doesn't he?
(Captain) treats Vyrn to an apple snack then asks Lyria and Tien if they'd like anything too.
Tien: That's nice of you to offer, but I'm not hungry or thirsty. Thank you, (Captain).
Lyria: Okay! Then why don't we walk around some more before going to a coffee shop?
Tweyen is a crew member

Lyria: Tweyen told us about this neat little place with yummy cakes and drinks.
Lyria: And since we're already here, I was hoping we could go check it out!
Vyrn: Nice! Sounds like a plan! An island with a marketplace this big has gotta have tons of good eats.
Tien: Careful, Vyrn. If you eat too much, your tummy will burst.
(Captain) jumps on Tien's teasing and immediately starts poking Vyrn's exposed belly.
Vyrn: Ahaha! Cut it out, (Captain)!
Lyria: Haha. Let's work up Vyrn's appetite so that he has lots of room for dessert later on!
The foursome visit various stores sprawled across town.
Vyrn: Whoa, this whole street's lined with weapon shops!
Tien: Mm, that reminds me. When I get back, I need to ask Feower if he needs a new whetstone.
Vyrn: Can't forget to keep your weapons in working order. That goes for you too, (Captain)!
Lyria: Sniff, sniff... What's that amazing smell?
Tien: Hm, fried cheese perhaps? I think it's coming from over there.
Lyria: I bet it tastes as good as it smells... No! I must resist and save room for the coffee shop! Fight it, Lyria!
Tien: Fried cheese should keep for quite a while. We could buy some to share with the crew.
Lyria: Good idea! Should I get some for Katalina?
Lyria: Hm... But the coffee place will probably have tasty sweets I can take back to the ship too...
Vyrn: Not to mention all the other souvenir shops we've seen. You got enough hands to carry all those gifts?
Lyria: Oh dear!
Tien: Haha. I'm sure Katalina will love whatever you pick out for her since you put so much thought into it, Lyria.
Lyria: Sigh... But that's why it's so hard to choose!
Lyria: This street has lots of arts and crafts boutiques!
Vyrn: Huh. This shop is nothing but buttons! I didn't know they came in so many shapes and colors.
Tien: I could probably spruce up the children's clothes with some of these custom buttons. Do you think they'd like that?
Vyrn: Oh yeah, you made clothes for the kids in Stardust Town, didn't ya?
Lyria: Your embroidery is so cute, Tien. You have such skilled hands!
Tien: Heehee, thanks. Everyone's growing out of their old outfits, so the least I can do is make them more stylish.
Tien: I just know the girls are dying for something cute to wear.
Lyria: Tien...
Tien: Ah. Look what I found, Lyria. They sell accessories made from beads too.
Lyria: Oooh, bracelets and barrettes! They're all so glittery and pretty!

Tien: Wouldn't this yellow beaded hair clip look good on Lyria? It's as vibrant as her spirit.
Djeeta is the Main Character

Tien: This lilac ribbon is very you, (Captain). Care to try it on?
(Captain) nods, and Tien fastens the ribbon to the side of the captain's head. She beams at her model.
Tien: Mm. It looks great. The soft tone of the fabric highlights the kindheartedness you exude.
Tien: Oh, and this...
Tien: Wouldn't this yellow beaded hair clip look good on Lyria? It's as vibrant as her spirit.
Tien gathers several strands of Lyria's long locks together and keeps it in place with the hair ornament. (Captain) nods with approval.
Tien: You'd look very nice with your hair in buns, Lyria. Maybe you could try putting them up on a hot day.
Lyria: ...
Lyria: Um, I... I want to see what Tien looks like wearing this turquoise ribbon!
Tien: Me?
Lyria: What do you think, (Captain)?
(Captain) takes the ribbon from Lyria and ties it to Tien's hair. (Captain) steps back, admiring the Eternal's new look with Lyria.
The captain then calls over a store clerk and is about to pay for the accessories picked out by the two girls.
Tien: W-wait! I'm sorry, (Captain), let me get my—
Vyrn: Put your wallet away! This one's on (Captain)!
(Captain) shoots Vyrn a thumbs up, finishes paying, and then hands out the accessories to Tien and Lyria.
Tien: ...
Lyria: Thank you!
Djeeta is the Main Character

Lyria: Are you putting yours on now? Here, let me do it for you, (Captain)!
Tien: Hey... (Captain), Lyria? I'm...
Vyrn: No need to say you're sorry, you know.
Tien: Oh...
Lyria: Tien, we know how much you care about us and everyone in Stardust Town.
Lyria: But you do know we feel exactly the same way about you, right?
Tien: ...!
Lyria: Why can't we be the ones who give you something nice, or treat you to a nice meal for a change?
Lyria: It seems like you've been thinking about everyone but yourself on this shopping trip.
Tien: Mm...
Lyria: The children of Stardust Town said they want to do things with you.
Lyria: Tough times can be hard on everyone, but they can also bring happiness as long as you get through them together.
Tien: Lyria... (Captain)...
Tien: Thank you. For thinking about me, and...
Tien thinks better of ending with an apology and trails off instead. (Captain) smiles and suggests they head to the coffee shop now.
Lyria: Are you sure all you want is a drink?
Tien: Mm, I'm sure.
They were lucky to be seated as soon as they had arrived. After making their orders, Tien quietly shares her thoughts.
Tien: When I first met you all, I boarded your airship in order to keep an eye on (Captain).
Vyrn: Hm... Was that how it went down? Oh right, you wanted to see how (Captain) would use the Ten-Wolf Gun or something.
Tien: Mm. Yet I was the one who fell under the gun's control and did those horrible things to everyone...
Tien: I was so full of myself for even suggesting I keep you under surveillance. There's no excuse for my actions.
Vyrn: Aw, don't sweat it! We all know the Ten-Wolf Gun was the real culprit.
Vyrn: You've always been a crewmate in our eyes. I totally forgot about that whole "watching us" stuff.
Lyria: Besides, you've always been there to help us with job requests.
Tien: That's to be expected, isn't it? I was welcomed aboard your ship, so it's only right that I lend a hand.
Vyrn: Hey, if we're talkin' expectations, then it's only right that we help you out too, because that's what friends do!
Vyrn: Like Lyria said before, we care about you the way you put others before yourself.
Vyrn: It's nice that you're not selfish. That's a great trait to have. But above all else, we like you 'cause you're you, Tien!
Tien: Huh?
Tien blinks in confusion, looking from (Captain) to Lyria, who've been nodding with everything Vyrn has said.
Vyrn: If you wanna help out a stranger, then you gotta learn to let others help you too!
Lyria: Heehee, uh-huh! We want you to treat yourself to something special every now and then. It's okay to be selfish sometimes.
Lyria: If we had a list of people to pamper, you'd be number one!
Reeling from their well-intentioned exuberance, Tien tries to take cover behind a menu.
Vyrn: Lookin' out for Feower and your little brothers and sisters of Stardust Town comes before everyone else though, right?
Tien: Mm...
Tien: And you guys are included in there as well.
From the looks on their faces, it's clear that (Captain) and company appreciate Tien's words. She slowly lowers the menu.
Tien: Hey, (Captain)?
Tien: C-can I... order something else?
Lyria: Go for it! What would you like?
Tien: This crepe looks really delicious...
Tien sacrificed her own wants and needs in order to protect the ones she loves.
The crew recognizes that she needs to love herself and presents her with another option she hadn't considered.
It's still too early for her to fully commit to this new alternative, but she's beginning to view the world in a different light.

I Understand Your Fear

One day, the Ten-Wolf Gun demands that Tien surrender her body to the Revenant weapon so that it may continue to live for its own purposes. Although Tien sympathizes with the gun's personal history, she has too much to live for and refuses to give in. Unable to accept Tien's pity and refusal, the gun severs its connection with the Eternal.

Some time later the crew receives a request from a village to stop a monster horde that is about to attack their fields.
Tien offers to go with them to help keep the crops safe for the next harvest.
Tien: Hmph.
Monsters: ...!
Tien: Next!
She lines up another shot at a charging monster and pulls the trigger.
Tien: ...!
Tien: ...!
Monster: Groooar!
Vyrn: Watch out!
Tien: Gasp!
(Captain) slays the monster just before it's about to decapitate the distracted Eternal.
Tien: (Captain)?
She could've sworn she saw (Captain) get shot. Looking back at the target she felled, it's clearly a monster and not the captain.
Tien: (What just happened!)
Vyrn: Hey, hey! It's too dangerous to be daydreamin' right now!
Tien: Yeah, sorry! Thanks for saving me. Let's wrap this up!
Pretty soon the monsters have had enough of seeing their comrades drop. They flee back into the safety of the forest. Job done, the crew returns to the airship.
Tien: (Captain), can I talk to you?
Lyria: Hi, Tien! Good work today. What's on your mind?
Tien: Thanks, Lyria, you too. I wanted to tell you about something strange that happened during our last job.
Lyria: Something strange?
Tien: Mm. One of the monsters I shot at looked like (Captain). But when I checked again, it was definitely the monster I originally sighted.
Tien: At the same time, I think I heard a familiar voice... The voice of the Ten-Wolf Gun.
Vyrn: What! That lousy thing's still houndin' you around?
Tien: Well, I'm not certain, but I'd love to find out.
(Captain) walks over to a weapon rack and grimly removes the Revenant weapon from it.
Ten-Wolf Gun: ...
Tien: Ten-Wolf Gun. That was your laugh I heard, wasn't it?
Ten-Wolf Gun: Yeah, I admit it.
Vyrn: Yipes! It actually talked!
Vyrn: Uh, not that I doubted Tien or anything...
Vyrn: Listen up, Ten-Wolf Gun! Why're you still harassin' Tien! Choose your answer carefully!
Ten-Wolf Gun: To expose her true nature.
Lyria: Her true nature?
Ten-Wolf Gun: How did you feel inside the instant you realized you shot and killed a friend, lass?
Tien: ...
Ten-Wolf Gun: Don't act like you don't know, you hypocrite. An intense rage swept through your body.
Ten-Wolf Gun: So much wrath that you wanted to explode in a fit of rage! That's your true nature!
Vyrn: The heck! What do you know about Tien—
Tien: Ten-Wolf Gun. Assuming what you said is true, what does it matter to you?
Ten-Wolf Gun: Hand your body over to me! It's easy. Just walk away and escape into death. I'll put your life to good use for you!
Tien: It seems you don't wish to die.
Ten-Wolf Gun: Of course not! I'll never die! Not until I've snuffed out every life, leaving me as the sole survivor!
Tien: To be the last one, huh?
Tien: I want to be the last one too. The last link in the chain of hatred.
Ten-Wolf Gun: Now there's a laugh! If you lost your loved ones, you'd chase your enemies to the ends of the world seeking vengeance! The chain would only continue!
Tien: That's exactly right. In other words my life has to end in order to break the chain.
Lyria: Tien!
Tien: That's what I used to think anyway.
Tien takes the gun from (Captain) and looks at it with pity.
Tien: But everyone else tells me they want me to live. Thanks to them, I've decided to stick around until the very end.
Lyria: ...
Tien: Sorry, you can't take control of me. But let's say you did manage to do it.
Tien: After you scream for my death and pull the trigger, you'll be lonely forever. Can you really call that living?
Ten-Wolf Gun: Damn you!
Tien's grip on the gun tightens. Her hand suddenly jerks upward and jams the muzzle flush up against her temple.
Vyrn: Stop it, you stupid gun!
Tien: It's okay, Vyrn. Listen, Ten-Wolf Gun.
Tien: You hurt others because you're afraid of being hurt yourself. I've seen it many times with my kids.
Tien: But the more you hurt others, the more it'll be reflected back onto you.
Ten-Wolf Gun: You don't know anything! Stop acting like you do! The calamity that came... The pain... No one could understand...
Ten-Wolf Gun: They sacrificed me just so they could continue indulging in their ill-gotten peace!
Tien: Ten-Wolf Gun...
Ten-Wolf Gun: Stop taking pity on me!
The gun flies out of her hand and lands on the floor with a heavy thud.
Lyria: Are you okay, Tien!
Tien: Mm. Sorry for worrying you. I feel uplifted in a way. Like this load on my chest is gone.
Tien: I think I formed a kind of... connection with the Ten-Wolf Gun when it took control of me, and it's been with me ever since.
Tien: Now that the gun has rejected what I've become, the connection disappeared. I don't think I have to worry about having hallucinations anymore.
Lyria: Ten-Wolf Gun...
Tien: I have no idea what it's been through.
Tien: The weapon probably didn't have a strong support system like I do in Feower, the children, and you guys, among others.
Tien: That's why it felt surrounded by enemies. It couldn't rest until it killed everyone in sight. That type of perspective isn't lost on me.
(Captain) picks the gun off the ground and examines Tien's expression carefully.
The Eternal seems happy to have declared her will to live. The corners of her mouth are turned up only slightly, but a smile is still a smile.

Because You Promised to Stay

One day, an orphaned boy arrives in Stardust Town and starts acting like he owns the place. However, instead of getting angry at the boy's disrespectful behavior, Tien gently reprimands him. She watches as the kids of Stardust Town welcome him into the fold in their own way. This is more proof that she and the children will continue to protect Stardust Town while looking to the future.

A delivery request brings the crew back to Stardust Town. After unloading the cargo without a hitch, (Captain) and company decide to stay in town for a while longer.
A few of Tien's little sisters beg her to teach them how to embroider. (Captain) and Lyria join in to learn the basics.
Lyria: So I push the needle through here and pull like this!
Tien: Actually, Lyria, tugging with that much force will scrunch the fabric.
Lyria: Oh no!
Lyria: I didn't even notice I was pulling so hard...
Tien: That's very common for beginners. The first thing I advise you to do is relax.
Mature Mia: Darn, my seams are so uneven...
Tien: Cheer up. You've gotten much better than when you first started. I can tell you've been practicing.
Mature Mia: Yeah, but I've got a long road ahead of me before I can make an outfit good enough for you to wear.
Tien: Ah... Thank you. I can't wait to wear it with pride.
Lively Jill: Tien! Sorry to interrupt, but can I talk to you?
Tien: Sure. What is it?
Lively Jill: A boy got mixed in with the cargo that just arrived!
Lyria: Oh my gosh! Did he stow away in the packages we delivered?
Lively Jill: No, no! This was from a different merchant.
Tien: He must be a newcomer. All right, I should go greet him. What's your take?
Lively Jill: It's been a while since we had one this peppery.
Tien: Mm, got it.
Lyria: Peppery?
Although Lyria and (Captain) don't know what the girl is talking about, Tien leaves the room knowing full well what she's in for.
Fiery Lad: Heh, finally sent someone worth talking to.
Tien: I see you're new here. Welcome to Stardust Town, a home for orphans—
Fiery Lad: Hmph. I heard that kids here didn't have adults constantly looking over their shoulders. Guess the rumors were true.
Fiery Lad: Sounds like my kinda town! This is my lucky day.
Lively Jill: Yeah, yeah, that's nice and everything, but first you have to tell us what you can actually do.
Mature Mia: It's okay if you can't think of anything! Whether it's housework or running a store or whatever, we'll be glad to teach you!
Fiery Lad: Pft. Teach this.
Tien: Wait. You still haven't told us your name yet.
Sensing that the sneering boy is about to run off, Tien tries to grab him by the arm, but he pulls away from her.
Fiery Lad: Don't touch me!
Fiery Lad: I didn't come here to make friends. I just wanna bleed you guys dry!
Vyrn: The nerve of that kid! Tien was just tryin' to be nice.
Tien: Well, the children that find their way here have their own unique circumstances.
Tien: They have to show they can play nice otherwise we can't help them.
Judging from Tien's tone, the sight of the fleeing child is a scene she's quite familiar with.
Many of Stardust Town's current inhabitants behaved in a similar vein when they first arrived.
Lively Jill: Hey! Come back here!
Fiery Lad: Fat chance! It's your fault you got robbed in the first place!
Lyria: What happened?
Lively Jill: He stole an apple. Sigh... And I was gonna use it to bake a pie for Vyrn too...
Vyrn: What! M-my apple!
Vyrn: That rotten little! I'll drag that stinky thief back myself!
Lyria: Hold on, Vyrn! Wait!
Fiery Lad: Munch, munch. That was too easy. Never get too chummy with people, or you'll end up a lazy chump.
Fiery Lad: Ick, this apple's making my hands sticky. Ah, I know what I can use.
He wipes his hands clean on a towel that's been hung out to dry and hides in the shadows of an alley.
Mature Mia: Aaaah! Who soiled the laundry!
Fiery Lad: Pfft, you call that dirty?
Fiery Lad: Geez, you guys act like royalty around here.
He takes one last bite of the apple and is about to fling away the core when a hand gently catches his arm.
Tien: Trash goes into a receptacle.
Fiery Lad: Yikes!
Fiery Lad: Where did you come from!
Tien: I've been following you ever since you snatched that apple. I wanted to see what you would do next.
Fiery Lad: Fine, you caught me. What're you gonna do about it? Burn a thief mark into my skin? If you're gonna do it, then do it!
Tien: That won't be necessary. I used to think stealing was the only way to survive too.
Tien: But that's all right.
Fiery Lad: Huh? What're you trying to say!
Tien: In this town, you don't have to steal or lash out at anyone.
Tien: From what I've seen, that's not your intention anyway, am I right?
Fiery Lad: Yeah, well, what if you're wrong? A softy like you doesn't have the guts to punish me!
Tien: Being a softy is harder than you think. It's easy to be hurt and betrayed.
Tien: And when it keeps happening to you, eventually you realize it's better to be on the other side.
Fiery Lad: Don't you dare say you understand what I'm going through!
Tien: No, I won't do that, although I guess I kind of implied it.
Tien: So instead of saying "I understand," I'll just say "I've been there."
Fiery Lad: ...!
Tien: You don't have to fear reprisal anymore. Everyone in this town is your brother and sister.
Fiery Lad: I...
Tien: Go on.
Fiery Lad: I'm a thief! Siblings aren't supposed to steal from each other!
Fiery Lad: Why should anyone trust or forgive me!
Tien: But you still came to this town. You wouldn't have done so if you weren't hoping to find something.
Fiery Lad: ...!
Vyrn: There he is! Tien's got him!
Fiery Lad: Ack!
Lively Jill: I've got something to say to you!
Fiery Lad: ...
Lively Jill: What kind of thief gets caught red-handed! A crappy one that only knows how to yell, that's what!
Fiery Lad: Wh-what!
Lively Jill: Back in my pickpocketing days, I would've cleaned this place out without breaking a sweat!
Vyrn: Uh... Do you realize what you're sayin'?
Mature Mia: Ahaha... Everyone has their own story to tell before they came to Stardust Town, so...
Mature Mia: Ah! But don't do that anymore, Jill! I mean it! And the same goes for you too!
Fiery Lad: What's with you people?
Lively Jill: What's so hard to understand? I'm your big sister now! In fact, everyone in Stardust Town are your siblings.
Fiery Lad: You're pretty small for a big sister...
Lively Jill: That doesn't change anything! Quit hiding behind Tien and get over here!
Fiery Lad: Yagh!
The girl grabs the boy's arm and starts dragging him away.
Lively Jill: First off, you're getting a bath! Then you're scrubbing the tub to make up for the apple you stole.
Mature Mia: And when you're done with that, I want you to redo the laundry. Don't worry. I'll teach you how!
Fiery Lad: Let go of me, dang it!
Tien: Haha...
Vyrn: Sigh... In the end he was just actin' tough.
Vyrn and (Captain) admire the strength of the girls who are walking off with their charge.
Lyria: I sure hope he gets used to Stardust Town soon.
Tien: Mm, as do I. It's not always easy for someone to acclimate to a new environment.
Tien: But as past children have shown us, it's certainly not impossible. I'm sure he'll be fine.
She smiles as she watches her newest little brother struggle against his big sisters.
Tien: (I want to protect this place in order to give these kids—my family—the best chance to find happiness.)
Tien: (I have to do it for the older children who are doing their best to watch over the younger ones.)
Tien: (But most importantly, I do it because I want to. This town belongs to us.)
Tien: (If the calamity that cost the Ten-Wolf Gun everything threatens the Sky Realm again, I'll stop it!)
With no place of their own, children from many backgrounds pull together to make Stardust Town their home. It's a vulnerable existence in the grand scheme of the Sky Realm.
Nevertheless it serves as a shining beacon. Tien and her brothers and sisters will safeguard Stardust Town while always looking toward the future.
