Overview

Freezie is a unique character whose main draw is her Dark Mutation mode. While in her normal mode, she is capable of doing basic utility: reducing defenses of enemies, and buffing the party's multiattack rate and granting them bonus damage. However, upon using Dark Mutation mode, she becomes a powerful and tanky attacker capable of bursting enemies within a few turns at the cost of her own life.

Strengths

  • Decent multiattack and bonus damage buffs to all allies
  • Low cooldown nuke and Status DefenseDownStack.pngDEF Down (Stackable)DEF is lowered (Stackable)
    Strength: 10% (Max: 30%)Duration: 180 seconds
which bypasses foes' immunities to Status DefenseDown.pngDEF DownDEF is lowered
  • When in Dark Mutation mode:
    • Can protect allies from potentially lethal attacks and triggers
    • Has high defenses and immunity to debuffs
    • Has high damage for both normal attacks and skills with an increased damage cap
    • Has a powerful heal to sustain all throughout the mode
    • Normal attacks hit all foes
    • Charge attack has unworldly damage and one of the highest damage caps in the game
    • Allows sub members in the party to move to the front after five turns

Weaknesses

  • Fairly mediocre unit outside of her buffs and Dark Mutation mode
  • Poor unit in lineups which utilizes revives
  • Cannot regain Status Ammunition 1.pngAmmunitionConsumed upon using Ruthless Ricochet (Can't be removed)

  • Dark Mutation mode has difficulty maintaining low health for Enmity
  • Dark Mutation mode is somewhat micro-intensive due to button presses
  • Cannot dispel enemy buffs that can effectively mitigate her damage
  • Dark Mutation mode is very slow and clunky to use in raids that die very quickly

How to Play

Freezie's core design revolves completely around her Dark Mutation mode. This is reinforced with the fact that she has otherwise no support skills in her arsenal, and she can only use Ruthless Ricochet a maximum of three times. As such, she works best in a Discard-and-Draw playstyle, which revolves around sacrificing Freezie so other members in the party in the back lines can fight. Overall, Freezie excels in medium-length fights, long enough to be able to use Dark Mutation mode, and short enough so other allies can finish the battle once she's dealt enough damage.

Normal Mode

Freezie in her regular mode is fairly straightforward, with the exception of when to use Cursed Malice. Her first skill, Ruthless Ricochet, can be used immediately upon going off cooldown, with the possible exception of using it against foes with the Status Repel.pngRepelReflects DMG
Damage Cut reducing damage taken and reflecting attacks.
Warning! Does not work for Plain Damage!
buff. Because Ruthless Ricochet has three instances of damage, Repel will also reflect back three times as much damage.

Fallschirm is another straightforward skill, which is reserved only when the party is about to use a Charge Attack or when allies are inflicted with statuses that prevent them from dealing damage, such as Status Blind.pngBlindedAttacks have a slight chance to miss
or Status Paralysis.pngElectrifiedCan't take any action (Can't be removed)
. Because Fallschirm is dispellable, it also should be reserved until after a foe uses its dispel ability.

Using Cursed Malice

Knowing when to use Cursed Malice is somewhat dependent on the situation. Because all the other allies will temporarily be removed from the battle, Freezie has to go into Dark Mutation mode when it is safe to do so. It's highly recommended to (re-)apply buffs and statuses such as Status AttackUp.pngATK UpATK is boosted
and Status DefenseDown.pngDEF DownDEF is lowered
prior to transforming as Freezie has no way of re-applying them once she transforms.

If a foe has Status Repel.pngRepelReflects DMG
Damage Cut reducing damage taken and reflecting attacks.
Warning! Does not work for Plain Damage!
, it's recommended to dispel the status first, as Freezie is even more susceptible to it during Dark Mutation mode. Other situations include waiting for the enemy to use their charge attacks or triggers, and allow Freezie to tank the attack and protect the party. If Freezie survives, she may even be able to use a charge attack on the first or second turn. Another situation is to use Cursed Malice when one or more allies have been inflicted with a status effect. Since most statuses last 3 turns, most of them will have been removed by the time Dark Mutation mode ends.

The boost to charge bar gain and triple attack allows Freezie to gain charge bar as possible, which is then further enhanced by the boost to C.A. specs, allowing Freezie to deal as much damage as possible. Alternatively, she can naturally draw Nier out by getting herself knocked out in Dark Mutation mode. While this strategy is true for all Arcarum Evokers, Freezie and Nier have more synergy together as they share the same element.

Gamewith's recommended EMP build for Freezie.

Priorities

Because Freezie's main source of damage is in Dark Mutation mode, maxing the EMP Support Skill is top priority. After that, prioritize getting Boost to Charge Bar, Dark ATK Up, and both TA Nodes in that order to improve Freezie's damage and charge bar management. Debuff Success rate is also important in order to land her debuff during Normal mode. This leaves only two points left, although taking points for DA Up is recommended to help her generate and store charge bar during Normal mode.
