Ring in the New Year

Anila gathers the party together and announces that it's time for a New Year's cleaning. Everyone receives their assignments and sets about thoroughly cleaning the airship, when suddenly they hear Anila let out a scream. Rushing over to her aid, the party finds a horde of monsters. The monsters have undone all of Anila's hard work cleaning the floor, much to her chagrin, so the party prepares to make them pay.

As the end of the year approaches, Anila announces that she needs to speak with everyone, so the whole crew gathers on the deck.
Vyrn: So, what's going on, Anila?
Anila: Ahem! With the year coming to a close, I thought this was the perfect time for a New Year's cleaning!
Lyria: Um… New Year's cleaning?
Anila: Yes! Back home we prepare for New Years by cleaning the whole house. It's our way of clearing out any nastiness of the last year!
Anila: Things on the airship are always so hectic, so it's inevitable that things get messy. Today we should do a proper cleanup!
Lyria: I see! If everything's nice and tidy, we'll be able to welcome the new year with a clean slate!
Anila: Hee hee hee! Exactly! Okay, everyone, let's get down to it!
Thus, with Anila leading the charge, (Captain) and the others began a thorough cleaning of the airship.
Lyria: Oof… I can't reach the top shelf!
Vyrn: Just leave it to me!
Anila: Ooh, being able to fly certainly seems convenient! I'm going to go give this washcloth a good cleaning.
Lyria: Let's scrub these floors clean, (Captain)!
Anila: Eeeeeek!
Vyrn: Huh? What was that?
Lyria: Oh no! Wasn't that Anila's voice just now? Let's go check on her!
Anila: How dare yoooou!
Vyrn: A-are you all right, Anila?
Anila: Oh, there you are!
Look at this?a bunch of monsters got onto the deck!
Monster: GROOOARGH!
Lyria: Ah! We have to go after them!
Anila: That's right! They just trampled all over the floor, I just finished cleaning there!
Vyrn: T-that's what you're upset about?!
Anila: We'll make them pay for this! After them, (Captain)!

Ring in the New Year: Scene 2

(Captain) and crew manage to chase off the monsters and finish their cleaning duties. Next, Anila suggests making celebratory soba noodles for New Years, for which the group will need to change course toward the nearest town to acquire buckwheat flour.

Anila: Well, we finally scared off those monsters… Now, the floor needs to be polished again.
Lyria: Ahaha… Well, let's do our best with the rest of the cleaning!
After chasing off the monsters, the party continues their cleaning spree.
Anila: Whew! Everything's finally looking spick and span!
Lyria: Wow! It's like a totally different airship!
Anila: Hee hee hee, of course it is! It's a good way to thank the airship for carting us around all the time.
Anila: Now then… Let's ring in the new year with some celebratory New Year's soba noodles!
Vyrn: Uh… celebratory soba noodles? I've never heard of that.
Anila: What, really? It's a really important food tradition back home!
Anila: They're easier to cut than other noodles, so it's like you're cutting through any trouble that might be waiting in the new year!
Lyria: Wow! I know you're great at cooking, Anila, so I can't wait to try them!
Anila: Why thank you, hee hee hee! I'll do my very best!
Anila: (Captain), I'm sorry, but do you think we could take a detour to the nearest town so I can buy some buckwheat flour?
Lyria: Oooh! Let's do it, (Captain)!
(Captain) and the others set a course for the nearest town to buy some buckwheat flour.

Ring in the New Year: Scene 3

Having acquired the buckwheat flour, Anila makes the soba noodles with Lyria's help. Then, on the night of New Year's Eve, the whole party eats the noodles together on the deck. Anila thanks everyone for the past year, and tells (Captain) and the others that she wants to stay close for the next year and many more years to come.

Anila: Ohoho, this buckwheat flour looks great! I bet we can make some really tasty noodles with it!
Lyria: Wait, so… You can really make soba noodles out of flour?
Anila: Heh, leave it to me! I'll show you how it's done!
Lyria: Wow, that's so cool! Let me help too!
Thus, (Captain) and company finish their preparations for New Year's Eve.
As the long-awaited New Year's celebrations approach, the crew puts the finishing touches on the soba noodles they've been making.
Anila: Ta-da! Our New Year's soba noodles are all ready!
Vyrn: They look delicious! C'mon, let's eat!
Lyria: Here goes! Omm… Sluuurp… Wow, it's so tasty!
Anila: Ho ho! The soup stock came out great, so it's making the noodles taste even better!
Vyrn: Heh! These big thick ones must be the ones Lyria cut, right?
Lyria: Aww, c'mon… Cutting them thinly is really hard, you know!
Anila: Don't worry, Lyria, they look great for your first try!
Anila: Oh! (Captain), be careful, the broth is still a little hot! We can't have you getting burned, now.
Anila: Here, let me cool it down for you. Phoo… Phoo… Okay, now open wide!
Anila: Heeheehee, you like it, huh? Well, there's plenty more where that came from, so don't be shy!
Forgetting for a while about the passage of time, (Captain) and crew enjoy their New Year's soba noodles.
Anila: The year is almost over now. I'm really grateful for everything you've done for me this year, (Captain).
Anila: I hope we can be this close next year too. And the year after that! Let's stay friends, (Captain)!
Anila: This year is going to be the year of the monkey, which means I get to take it easy. Make sure you hang out with me, OK? Haha!
Slurping up their soba noodles, (Captain) and company enjoy a quiet New Year's Eve together.
(Captain) reflects on the beginning of another year full of adventures with the crew.
