Star-Cross'd Lovers

The party go to visit Lord Montague of the fortress city of Verona. Not having permission to enter the city, they are chased by the guards. Luckily, they are saved by a soldier named Romeo. (Captain) and the crew learn of the feud tearing the city of Verona in two, and are taken to Verona Cathedral.

The party go to visit Lord Montague of the fortress city of Verona.
However, as they approach the gates known as the "hole in the wall," the city guards attempt to arrest them for not having an entry permit.
One guard, by the name of Romeo, leads (Captain) and company away.
Vyrn: All right… So where are you taking us?
Romeo: To Verona Cathedral. Once there, you'll be able to get permission to enter the city.
Lyria: Really? Oh thank you, kind sir!
Mercutio: You really are lucky that you ran into us, you know.
Vyrn: But… wait, I'm confused. Why have you guys decided to help us all of a sudden?
Romeo: I'm not sure, really. I can't think of a real reason.
Mercutio: No need to be so coy, Romeo. I know how much you care.
Lyria: Is that so?
Mercutio: There's no one in this world who knows what's going on in that head of his better than me.
Romeo: Mercutio, please. That's enough of that.
Mercutio: I'm only telling the truth. Is it not so?
Vyrn: All right, guys. No need to get heated over this.
Romeo: …Don't worry. We're always like this.
Mercutio: Exactly. We don't hold anything back. If it needs to be said, we'll say it.
Lyria: Heehee, I like that. You two seem to get on really well. You almost finish each other's sentences.
Mercutio: I know! We look like we're quarreling, but we aren't really.
Mercutio: Romeo didn't save you guys for no reason. He had a feeling about you.
Romeo: You're really not going to shut up about this, are you?
Mercutio: What do you mean? These lovely people wanted to know, so I thought I'd tell them.
Romeo: Are you sure it's not just that you like to talk too much?
And so, with great reluctance, Romeo starts telling his tale.
Romeo: It's… It's not really what I'd call a reason. I just thought that you might…
Romeo: You might try to resort to violence to force your way in to the city.
Romeo: I see now that there was never any risk of that. But I had no way of knowing back there.
Vyrn: Wow, you really thought that?
Vyrn: But, I guess we did kick up a bit of a fuss. Sorry about that!
Romeo: No, no, I should apologize. I was being rude. It's just, you've not come at a great time…
Lyria: Regardless, we're just relieved that you trust us now. Aren't we, (Captain)?
Romeo: You're not to blame… There's only one thing causing the tension. It's this stupid wall.
On saying this, Romeo looks up at massive wall towering over them.
Romeo: Walls have only ever served to divide the people, sowing discord and chaos.
Vyrn: But… It looks like the nobility like them. Look at how big this wall is.
Romeo: Oh, this one? They built this wall 11 years, ago after the war.
Lyria: The war…?
Romeo: A war with the neighboring kingdom of Capulet to decide who had absolute sovereignty.
Romeo: Since then, we've been…
Romeo: Even though we've been trying to strengthen relations with them, some violent outbreaks are unavoidable.
Mercutio: And that's where we come in! The city guard are here to make sure that no Capulets make their way into the city and cause trouble!
Vyrn: A war in such close quarters, I can't imagine what you've been through…
Mercutio: Well, compared to what Romeo's going through, I've got nothing to complain about.
Vyrn: Ah, so you guys are commanders. Must be tough.
Romeo: No, I'm just a private. Mercutio here is my commanding officer.
Vyrn: Wait… But he has about as much authority as a baby duck.
Lyria: I wouldn't put it that way… But, didn't those soldiers call you "Lord Romeo"?
Mercutio: Oho, well noticed, my lady! Sometimes we slip up and?
Romeo: That's enough, Mercutio.
Mercutio ignores Romeo and continues with his story.
Mercutio: He may not look like it, but Lord Romeo here is actually heir to the Montague throne!
Vyrn: Really? One question, though. What's an "heir"?
Lyria: It means he's going to be the ruler of Montague one day.
Vyrn: Which means… whaaa!
Mercutio: Exactly! Now that's the reaction I was looking for!
Romeo: Careless talk costs lives, Mercutio. How many times do I have to tell you?
Mercutio: But, Romeo… You trust these people, don't you?
Romeo: That may be so, but we can't be too careful.
Vyrn: But… Why would the heir to the throne end up in the city guard?
Mercutio: Ha ha! Good question, little lizard! Romeo has a very Romeo-esque reason for it, too!
Mercutio: He said that if he is going to be in charge of the troops, he must first understand what it means to be one?
Romeo: I told you to stop, Mercutio.
Mercutio: Even though his father wanted him to command us, he went with his convictions and joined the ranks.
Mercutio: But then, the other soldiers couldn't relax with the heir in their midst.
Vyrn: That's a good point. I don't think I'd be able to relax…
Mercutio: And his personality really didn't help. The troops were really on edge.
Mercutio: That's when Romeo found me, and made me a proposition…
Mercutio: He asked that I become his commander, even though I'm really not the type to order people about…
Romeo: I don't remember asking you much of anything.
Mercutio: …And sometimes I still slip up and say "Lord Romeo" by accident. When I do he gets like this.
Romeo: Enough… I'm not speaking to you anymore.
Mercutio: Oh really… In that case, I'll go ahead and tell them the really juicy secrets…
Mercutio: Romeo may not look it, but he's actually into?
Romeo: Stop! Seriously, you've said more than enough already. I'm really getting angry now!
Lyria: (Captain), don't you think we should put a stop to this?
Vyrn: They're going to be fine. Real friends argue all the time.
Mercutio: My thoughts exactly! But, he can get a bit scary at times…
Mercutio: So, I think I had better leave him be for now.
Romeo: Hey, Mercutio.
Mercutio: What is it, Romeo?
Romeo: We're nearly there. Now stop your chatting and get over here.
And so it was that the party, aided by Romeo and Mercutio, found themselves at Verona Cathedral
