Tied Together

While enjoying a meal with Silva and the crew at a cafe, Tweyen wonders what the Two-Crown Bow is truly trying to accomplish. She suspects the weapon was preparing for some unknown battle, but she needs to talk to the bow again to know for sure. She asks for the crew's help, and they're more than happy to lend a hand.

Lyria and Vyrn: ...
Inside a small cafe, Lyria and Vyrn sit on the edge of their seats, waiting with bated breath.
Tweyen and Silva: Hehe...
The two women sitting across from them can't help but smile at the suspense exuding from their young friends.
Then at long last, the big moment arrives.
Server: Okay, gotcha order right here!
Server: Our very own Pancakedemonium, topped with a generous helping of Cyclonic Disaster Cream and six kinds of fruit!
Lyria: Oh my gosh! It's... it's incredible!
Vyrn: Wow, all that cream probably weighs as much as the pancakes themselves...
Whipped cream cascades over the sides of the pancake tower. Pieces of fruit slide down the white foam like flotsam spilling over a waterfall.
Tweyen: ...!
Silva: Pfft... Hahaha! I don't think I've ever seen your eyes grow that wide before.
Tweyen: Well, look at this behemoth! This isn't what I had in mind when I first heard the reviews! I wonder if we can finish it all.
Silva: We'll just have to give it our best shot. So much for dinner though.
The gloves are off, and the forks are ready to demolish the tower of fluffy goodness.
Lyria and Vyrn: ...
Silva: Aside from the pancakes, I like the atmosphere of this place.
Tweyen: Isn't it nice? It's not in the best location though, so I guess that's why they don't get many visitors from other islands.
Vyrn: If it's off the beaten path, how'd you know about this place?
Tweyen: I overheard some people talking about the cafe, but I didn't catch where it was. So I grabbed a map and went from there, haha.
Silva: It couldn't have been easy locating a small shop that's tucked away in a back alley. Thanks for looking.
Tweyen: Well, I had to after I heard it was a dining experience unlike any other.
Silva: Yeah, I know how you are. Once you set your sights on your prey, you never let it escape.
Tweyen: Haha...
There once was a time when Tweyen and Silva were at odds with each other, but they've since buried the hatchet.
Tweyen: Mm, this is scrumptious. Too bad Cucouroux and Camieux were too busy to join us.
Silva: There's always next time. I'm sure we'll come back to this island at some point, and when we do, they'll be on the invite list.
Tweyen: Yep.
Their close friendship has been restored, and Tweyen couldn't be happier.
But perhaps not all loose ends have been tied.
Two-Crown Bow: Why do you stop?
Tweyen: Huh?
Two-Crown Bow: You have traveled a path paved by sacrifice upon sacrifice.
Two-Crown Bow: To come this far before reaching the summit is an insult to the fallen.
Tweyen: ...
Tweyen: Silva...
Tweyen: Silva! Where are you!
Silva: ...!
Tweyen: Cough, cough!
Tweyen: Ngh!
Tweyen: Ugh!
Tweyen: (No!)
Tweyen: (I have to climb higher!)
Tweyen: (So high no one can reach me! Not any machine, not (Captain), not Silva, not the Eternals... Not anyone!)
Silva: ...!
Tweyen: Guh!
Tweyen: ...
The moments of tranquility spent with her friends always seem to trigger an intense reaction.
And it can be attributed to a weapon that had tempted her once before: the Two-Crown Bow.
Silva: What's wrong? Feeling sick from eating too much?
Tweyen: Oh... No, it's not that.
Two-Crown Bow: I seek a peerless ruler; a master archer worthy of nocking arrows upon my string.
Two-Crown Bow: Rule over me, Tweyen. Let loose my majestic arrows of death.
Tweyen: I sometimes wonder what the Two-Crown Bow was trying to force me to do.
Silva: What indeed. We never figured out its objective.
Tweyen: A bow exists to shoot, but what kind of target warrants making the Two-Crown Bow?
Tweyen: It'd be silly to use a bow capable of destroying castle walls to hunt a boar, or to use a normal hunting bow to destroy castle walls.
Silva: You could say the same for firearms. Every type of ammunition has its own purpose.
Tweyen: The Two-Crown Bow went so far as to manipulate me in order to hunt something.
Tweyen: But it's been sleeping ever since it failed. I won't be able to get any answers from it.
Silva: So even now you're still worried about its schemes.
Silva: No matter what it forces you to do, I'll stop you as many times as you need me to, Tweyen.
Tweyen: I know. I won't let that bow get under my skin anymore.
Tweyen: But looking back, it felt as if the bow had become desperate. Almost as if...
Tweyen: As if it were looking for something important. Something it needs in order to hunt its target...
Silva: Which sounds like a run-in with this target might be on the horizon.
Vyrn: Say, that shiny bow is a leftover from the War, right? Maybe there's a connection.
Silva: Yeah, could be. If it was used in the War, then it's highly likely its target is a primal beast or an Astral.
Tweyen: But as far as the bow is concerned, I doubt it fears we can't keep up against primal beasts.
Tweyen: Yet it still goaded me to become stronger, and by that reasoning...
Tweyen: All the battles we've fought until now are in preparation for a new level of threat.
Vyrn: Gulp... Things just got real heavy...
Tweyen: I'm only throwing out the possibilities, but I'd rather be sure than guessing.
Silva: You'll be having another conversation with the bow then, I take it.
Tweyen: I swear I won't be deceived a second time, so I wonder if it'll still cooperate with me...
Perhaps the Two-Crown Bow needs to incite mayhem in order to shore up its shortcomings.
But if Tweyen can utilize the bow to its fullest potential, she may be able to reach even greater heights of power.
