Forever Family

Vania and Malinda hear someone crying and come across a little girl, who explains that her dog has gone missing. The two help the girl find her pet. However, Vania's hood comes off in the scuffle and the girl's mother realizes that Vania is a vampire. Vania and Malinda hurry to leave the scene, happy to have helped the girl reunite with her family.

(Captain) and company decide to stop by a town to replenish the ship's stocks.
Upon arriving, the crew splits up to scour the town for the necessary supplies.
Vania: Ngh... It's pouring...
Malinda: Gyoo...
Holding a drink in her hand, Vania looks up at the rainy sky.
Vania: I don't like rain...
Vania: It messes up my hair, and my dress gets all wet too... This isn't fun at all.
Malinda: Gyoo... Gyoo gyoo!
Vania: Buuut it's okay, because I've got... ta-da! This yummy cup of juice to get me through the day!
Malinda: Gyoo gyoo!
Vania: Mmm! It's so sweet and delicious—just what I needed!
Vania smiles happily as she sips on the juice she bought from a stall.
Malinda: Gyoo! Gyoo!
Vania: Ahaha, you want some too, Malinda? Okay, here you go!
Malinda: Gyoooo!
Vania: Slow down! There's still plenty left for you!
Vania: H-hey! Take it easy, okay? You're going to spill it!
Vania not in crew

There is an island of vampires, a secluded home where they proudly hold on to old laws.
There, the vampire princess Vania fostered a dragon named Malinda despite the others' cries of heresy.
When Malinda became ill, Vania set forth into the outside world to find a cure, and that is where she met (Captain) and the crew.
Now, Vania and Malinda continue traveling with the crew as they go on adventure after adventure.
Malinda: Glug, glug... Glug, glug... Gyoo!
Malinda: Gyoo gyoo!
Vania: You finished drinking it already? That was fast!
Vania: Oh Malinda, look at you! You've got juice all over your mouth!
Vania takes out a handkerchief from her pocket and uses it to wipe Malinda's mouth.
Malinda: Gyoooo!
Vania: Hehe, there we go!
Vania: Okay, let's see what they have over there!
Girl's Voice: Oh... Where are you... Come back... Sniff...
Through the rain, a child's voice can be heard crying faintly.
Vania cocks her head, straining to listen.
Vania: I wonder what's the matter... Let's go take a look.
Malinda: Gyoo.
They walk in the direction of the voice to find a woman comforting her daughter.
Vania: Hey, what's wrong? Are you hurt?
Malinda: Gyoooo?
Girl: Sniff... Koro? Is that you?
Girl: Y-you're not Koro... Waaaah!
Malinda: Gyoo! Gyoo gyoo, gyoooo...
Vania: Oh, did Malinda startle you?
Vania: Don't worry, there's nothing to be scared of! See, Malinda's nothing but a big, squishy pink cupcake!
Malinda: Gyoo gyoo! Gyoooo!
Malinda nods vigorously in agreement.
Girl: Waaaah!
Vania: Hmm... What should we do, Malinda?
Malinda: Gyoo...
Mother: I-I'm sorry... My daughter's quite distressed at the moment, you see...
Vania: Distressed?
Malinda: Gyoooo?
Vania: Why don't you tell me about it? Maybe I can help!
Mother: That's very kind of you, but I wouldn't want to bother someone we just met...
Vania: But Bloodkin told me that I should help others when they're in need!
Vania: Besides, I'm a lady! And ladies can't just leave a crying child alone!
Girl: Sniff... T-the thing is, my pet, Koro, ran away from home...
Girl: I've been looking everywhere for him, but... he's just nowhere to be found... Sniff...
Girl: Oh, Koro... Please come back... I promise not to lose my temper with you again...
Vania: Hm? Why were you mad at him?
Girl: Koro ripped up my favorite toy...
Girl: So I got mad and yelled at him... But then he ran away, and...
Mother: I'm sure Koro didn't mean to rip your toy. You're not angry anymore, are you, dear?
Girl: No... I just want Koro to come home...
The girl continues to cry as she calls for her pet over and over again.
Vania: Okay, then I'll help find Koro too!
Girl: R-really?
Vania: Yep! I know I'd be really lonely if Malinda weren't around. I wouldn't like that at all!
Malinda: Gyoo! Gyoooo!
Vania: Malinda says she feels the same! So leave it to us—we'll help you find Koro!
Malinda: Gyoo gyoooo!
Girl: T-thank you.
Mother: I'm sorry for the trouble. We appreciate it.
The girl and her mother express their gratitude toward Vania and Malinda for agreeing to help in their search.
After receiving a description of Koro, Vania and Malinda go into town to search for the missing pet.
Vania: Hm... No Koro in sight.
Malinda: Gyoo...
Malinda: Gyoo? Gyoo, gyoo! Gyoo!
Vania: M-Malinda! Don't pull on my sleeve like that—you'll stretch it out!
Vania: Huh? Waaait a second!
Vania looks in the direction Malinda is pulling and sees a dog not unlike the one the girl had described.
Koro: Woof!
The dog is startled by Vania's cry and starts to run away.
Vania: Hey, waaait!
Vania and Malinda scramble to chase the dog.
Vania: Malinda, he went that way!
Malinda: Gyoo, gyoo!
Koro: Woof!
Malinda catches up and blocks his path, but the dog darts to the side and manages to slip past her.
Malinda: Gyoo, gyoo...
Vania: Oooh, why does he keep running away like that! We've got to catch him no matter what!
Malinda: Gyoo!
Vania: Now's our chance, Malinda!
Malinda: Gyoo!
In a flash, the two pounce on the runaway pet.
Malinda: Gyoooo!
But Malinda stubs her toe and topples onto Vania. The two of them fall over.
Malinda: Gyoooo...
Vania: Ngh... Malinda, you're so heavy! I'm getting squished here!
Malinda struggles to jump back to her feet.
Vania: Is it just me, or have you gotten chubbier? Maybe you've been eating a bit too much fruit...
Malinda: Gyoo? Gyoo gyoo, gyoooo!
Vania: Come on, we don't have time for this! We can't let Koro get away!
Malinda: Gyoo!
Malinda: Gyoo... Gyoo... Gyoooo.
Vania: Are you thirsty, Malinda?
Malinda: Gyoo...
Vania: Hm... Oh, all right. Let's share the juice I bought earlier!
Vania: I was saving it to give to Bloodkin as a present, but I guess this is an emergency!
Malinda: Gyoo! Gyoo, gyoo!
Vania takes out a bottle. Malinda makes a bound for it and begins to gulp the juice down.
Malinda: Burp. Gyoo...
Vania: Heeey! I said share, not drink all of it!
Malinda: Gyoooo...
Malinda looks down guiltily.
Vania: Hmph! Well, I hope you're prepared for the consequences of being a little piggy!
Vania reaches out and tickles Malinda around the ears.
Malinda: Gyooooo! Gyoo, gyoo! Gyoo! Gyoo gyoo gyooooo!
Vania: Hah! I know you can't stand being tickled around your ears! You can't hide it from me, Malinda!
Malinda: Gyoo gyoo gyoooo!
Vania: Ahaha! Your ears are so soft... and they stretch!
Malinda: Gyoo gyoo!
Malinda wriggles in protest, huffing and puffing as Vania tickles her ears.
Malinda: Gyoooo... Gyoooo...
Vania: Feeling more apologetic now?
Malinda: Gyoo!
Vania: You have to share next time, or else I'll need to teach you another lesson. Got it?
Malinda: Gyoo... Gyoooo.
Malinda nods earnestly, determined never to get on Vania's bad side ever again.
Vania: All right, then let's get back to work! We've got a puppy to find!
Malinda: Gyoo!
Vania and Malinda make another round of the town and continue their search.
Meanwhile, the runaway dog finds himself out of breath and pauses to take a sip of water from the canal whose waters have risen close to street level.
Koro: Pant... Pant...
Vania: Huff, huff... It finally... stopped... I don't think I can run... any more...
Malinda: Gyoo... Gyoo...
Vania: Are you okay, Malinda?
Malinda: Gyoo...
Vania: Okay! Then let's go bring Koro home!
Malinda: Gyoo!
The pair slowly inch their way toward the runaway pup.
Koro's ears prick up, and he begins growling under his breath.
Koro: Grrrrrr!
Vania: It's all right—you don't have to be scared of us. Come on, we'll take you home!
Koro stares warily at Vania and Malinda, contemplating his next move.
Girl's Voice: Korooo!
A little girl's voice breaks the silence, followed by the pitter-patter of footsteps.
The girl flies past Vania, stretching out her arms to scoop the puppy up.
Girl: Korooo!
Koro: Woof!
However, still feeling guilty, the runaway pup shrinks back and dodges the girl's hands.
Girl: Ahh!
Mother: Watch out!
Failing to catch her pet, the little girl loses her balance and falls into the rain-swollen canal with a large splash. She flails her arms as the current begins to carry her away.
Vania: Oh no! Malinda, time to switch!
Malinda: Gyoooo!
Malinda: Groooar!
Koro: Woof!
The grown Malinda surprises Koro, who tries to scamper away.
Vania: Oh, no you don't!
Koro: Woof! Woof, woof!
Vania: Leave Koro to me. You go save that little girl, Malinda!
Malinda nods before soaring into the sky, making a swift swoop toward the rushing water.
Koro: Woof, woof! Woof!
Vania: Come on, can't you just stay still? There's nothing to be scared of! There, there!
Koro: Whine...
Vania cradles Koro and gently strokes his fur. The pup gives a small whine and begins to relax.
Vania: Oh, look!
Malinda: Groooar!
Vania looks up at the bright sky to see Malinda flying toward them, carrying the little girl on her back.
Once the girl is safely back on the ground, Vania gently hands Koro over to her.
Girl: Sniff... Oh, Koro, I'm so sorry. I'm not mad anymore, and I promise I'll take better care of you...
Girl: So please stay!
Koro: Whine...
The girl hugs her precious pet tightly in her arms.
Seeing his master's expression of relief, Koro licks the girl's face over and over again.
Girl: Wah! Hey, that tickles, Koro!
Vania: Hehe, I'm so glad you're friends again!
Girl: Yeah! Thank you so much!
Girl: You helped look for Koro, and now we're back together!
Mother: How can I even begin to thank you for finding Koro, and for saving my daughter...
Vania: Hehe, don't worry about it. Besides, I always keep my promises!
Girl: Huh? Um, I just noticed, but... what's that on your head?
Vania: Hm? My head?
Vania: Ahh! My hood came off!
Vania: Oh no, Bloodkin warned me to never take off my hood...
Mother: Wings... Are you perhaps... a vampire? One of those vicious, bloodsucking monsters...
The woman stares at Vania in shock.
Vania: Oh, um... What should we do, Malinda?
Malinda: Groooar...
Vania: I-in any case, let's get away from here!
Malinda: Groar!
Vania clambers onto Malinda's back.
Once Vania is securely on her back, Malinda spreads her wings and takes off into the sky.
Vania: Ngh... I messed up. I wonder if Bloodkin is going to be mad.
Malinda: Groar...
Vania: Well, we were just trying to help, so I'm sure it'll be fine!
Vania: I'm just glad the girl and Koro found each other again!
Malinda: Groooar!
Vania: Getting along with your family's important!
Vania: It'd be sad if you were away from your family and couldn't talk to them anymore.
Malinda: Groar, groooar!
Vania: Ahaha, but you and I are going to be together forever!
Vania: Foreeever and ever! We're sticking together no matter what!
Vania: Got that?
Malinda: Groooar!
Vania and Malinda laugh.
Both of them know that their bond is one that can overcome all boundaries.
Vania: Oh! Come to think of it... I still haven't gotten what Bloodkin told me to get!
Vania: Oh well, I'm sure Bloodkin will understand!
Malinda: Groar...
