Regarding Transcriptions

1. Extra Data tab on a character's page (in this case, Npc s 3040025000 01.jpg Siegfried's).
2. Link to character's page on JP Wiki.
3. ボイス有り台詞集 - Section on the JP Wiki's character page where the Japanese transcription of voicelines are stored.
Its subsection, 最終解放後, stores lines for 5★ version of the character. It will not be available on all pages, as not all characters have 5★ uncap.

The section right below, 掛け合い台詞, contains #Character Banter specific lines. It will not be available on all pages, as not all characters have a character banter.
  • Japanese text transcripts can be found on http://gbf-wiki.com/. As the site may be hard to navigate in, refer to the image on the right.
    • When pasting the transcribed text from the Japanese wiki, remember to remove quotation marks 「」 if there's just one character speaking.
    For example, 「まかせて!」 becomes まかせて!.
    • The order on which transcripts on JP Wiki are sorted does not correspond to the order found on Granblue Fantasy Wiki. It is also possible for the table with transcriptions on JP Wiki to lack certain lines and omit their cells in the table completly. As such, always refer to the table below for their corresponding designation if you can't read Japanese.

Do note that in rare cases the text may be mismatched, e.g. Join Battle line is assigned under "勝利" (Victory). If it's possible, try to confirm the placement accuracy with already uploaded voice files.
  • All transcriptions are to be added under LABEL_jp=. For example, if the Japanese text mentioned in first sub-bulletpoint above was for Recruit line, it should be added under |recruit_jp=, which will result in |recruit_jp=まかせて!.
  • If you know Japanese and want to add missing transcriptions, that can't be found on JP Wiki, base it on the already uploaded voice files. If the character doesn't have a voice file for a line you want to transcribe, refer to #Regarding Audio Files section on this page for how to add them, or request Wiki staff members to upload them for you.
  • If you see a note saying "Same as [...]", this means the voiceline is using the same voice file as one of the lines above it. As such, it should have the same transcription. The note will mention which line was the first to use that file.
  • If you notice any mistakes in the transcriptions on the Granblue Fantasy Wiki, you are to correct them at your will.

Regarding Translations

  • Machine translations are not acceptable. Please have some level of Japanese proficiency if you are translating voicelines into English. If you are not skilled in Japanese, please do not translate. You can still contribute by adding other data such as sound files and transcriptions.
  • Use character's official English name, e.g. "ブローディア" should be translated to "Alexiel" and not "Brodia".
  • Translate danchō (団長) to "Captain". It should be written in upper case if it refers to the Main Character and lower case when it refers to the position.
  • Do not add honorifics like "-chan", "-san", etc. unless the official English game translation is using them (e.g. collaboration characters may use them in the official translation).
  • Use first person pronoun "I" regardless of how the character is referring to themselves in Japanese when translating their lines, unless the official English version of the game uses anything else (e.g. Mugen is an example of a character referring to themselves in 3rd person).
  • All transcriptions are to be added under LABEL_en=. For example, |recruit_en=Leave it to me!.
  • If you see a note saying "Same as [...]", this means the voiceline is using the same voice file as one of the lines above it. As such, it should have the same translation. The note will mention which line was the first to use that file.

Regarding Audio Files

sound/voice used to locate Npc s 3030271000 01.jpg Friday (Summer)'s Home Screen voice files.
1. Clicking these 3 dots will open up new window with the download option.
2. Clicking this button will download the voice file onto your drive, in your default download folder.

All voice .mp3 files must be uploaded to the wiki. Direct linking to the voice files on the game servers is not allowed.

  • To be able to upload the voice files, you first need to download them. For how-to, refer to the steps below.
  1. Open Granblue Fantasy mobile game in a desktop browser.
  2. Open dev tool console by using ctrl + shift + i combination on your keyboard, or by pressing F12.
  3. While in the game, perform an action that would result in a character saying something. The file corresponding to that action will show up on the Network tab of the dev tool. For example, clicking character while they're on the Home screen, will cause them to say their Home Screen lines and voice files for these lines will show up in dev tool's Network tab. Do not search for more voice files by changing the url. There are many files, not just voice files, that are on the game server but remain unused - these are not to be uploaded to character pages under any circumstances.
  4. You can use dev tool filter to search for sound/voice or character's ID to spot the file easier (see the top picture on the right).
  5. Right click the desired file and choose the first option Open in new tab.
  6. Switch to the newly opened tab and download the file (see the bottom picture on the right).
  • Do not alter the voice files with audio editing software.
  • After downloading the voice files, upload them to the wiki. Do not alter the original file name when uploading.
    • This can be done by using Special:Upload page, however, only one file at a time can be uploaded when using this page. Logged-in users can edit their preferences and enable "enhanced editing toolbar" which will allow them to upload even multiple files, but only if they're in editing mode.
  • After uploading, the file's name (including .mp3 file extension) are to be added under LABEL_file=. For example, |recruit_file=3030271000_introduce1.mp3.
    • If you're trying to add a file that was already uploaded, try to locate its first use in the table. For all files used beyond the first time, a note needs to be added to all subsequent lines using that file. See #Regarding Notes for details.
      • It is possible that the voice file has been uploaded by someone, but was not added to any page by mistake and is not used anywhere yet. If that is the case, no note is needed.

Regarding Notes

Notes are meant to be a reference point for editors and a place that explains unclarities or gives trivia for normal readers.

  • All notes are to be added under LABEL_note=. For example, |journal1_note=Same as Recruit.
  • Notes regarding audio files have the highest priority if multiple notes are present.
  • The voiceline label should be written the same way it is in the voice template, for example Normal Attack and not Attacking. It should also be italicized for easier identification.

Notes - Translations

List of Common Notes
Scenario Note Comment
C.A. name is different between what character says and the official EN translation.
※ Most characters will recite their C.A. name for Charge Attack and Skip Charge Attack voicelines. The official English translation of a character's charge attack may be different from Japanese version.
C.A. is called "(Literal translation)" in Japanese. Official translation takes priority over unofficial translations, but the literally translated C.A. name should still be included in the notes as a trivia and to avoid edit wars between editors.
The note does not need to be repeated for Skip Charge Attack if it was already used for Charge Attack.
For example, see Bridgette/Voice.

Notes - Audio Files

  • Notes below do not need to mention "line", as they are based on voice files instead. For context, it isn't uncommon for one line to be split into multiple voice files, where only selected files (aka parts the of the whole voiceline) would be reused.
List of Common Notes
Scenario Note Comment
A voiceline is reusing an audio file that places higher on the same character page. Same as (Label). (Label) always refers to the first usage of the file. This applies to all the notes found below.
If the label contains few lines, specify which ones by adding its position before the label name. For example, Same as 2nd Home Screen.
A voiceline is reusing an audio file from another version of a character. Shared with CharacterName (Version. The note should be placed on all character Voice pages using the file. For example, compare Societte/Voice and Societte (Fire)/Voice.
Charge Attack line is made of few files. The voiceline of this charge attack is split into X parts in-game. Thus, it was uploaded as X files. X refers to the number of files. It should be replaced with a number, for example a "3".
This note was created as to avoid confusion as to why one voiceline has few files assigned to it and to stop people from purposely editing together few files into a single file to match the voiceline.
Skip Charge Attack is reusing a file from the fragmented Charge Attack voiceline. Same as Y part of Charge Attack. Y refers to the position of the file within a template, which can be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. For example, see Rei/Voice.
Note that not all characters with split C.A. lines are reusing the files in the Skip C.A. line. See Catherine/Voice for reference.
Character doesn't have Normal Attack lines. Does not attack, says nothing even when countering. A hyphen-minus (-) should be placed for JP and EN text fields. Fields for audio files should be left empty. For example, see Drusilla/Voice.
Character doesn't have Enemy Defeated lines. Has no lines for defeating an enemy. Ditto.
Character switches out via a skill to another ally. Plays Join Battle of the switched ally. A hyphen-minus (-) should be placed for JP and EN text fields. Fields for audio files should be left empty. For example, see Rei/Voice.

Notes - Character Banter

List of Common Notes
Scenario Note Comment
A character has banter lines exclusive to a specific playable version or outfit. Only as CharacterName (Version/Outfit). For example, see Societte/Voice#Character Banter.

General

Uses Template:Voice (Menu) and Template:Voice (Battle).

Subheaders

  • If the character's voicelines change based on the battle pose selected, excluding 5★ or 6★ battle poses, add 2 subheaders right below Template:Voice (Menu) called Base Battle Pose and 2nd Battle Pose. The Template:Voice (Battle) for each battle pose should be placed inside its corresponding subheader.
  • If a character has a 5★ uncap, create a subheader called "Final Uncap" and use another Template:Voice (Menu) and Template:Voice (Battle).
    • If any of the files are the same as before 5★ uncap, add a note saying Same as pre-5★.
  • For Eternals who have a 6★ uncap, create a subheader called "Transcendence" and use another Template:Voice (Menu) and Template:Voice (Battle).
    • If any of the files are the same as before 6★ uncap, add a note saying Same as pre-6★.

Chain Burst

  • This section is for characters who may call out the name of the chain burst with certain other characters. Use Template:Voice (Chain Burst).
  • If the character does not recite chain burst names with other characters, add the following sentence under the section header:
This character does not recite chain burst names with other characters.

Character Banter

  • Banter between other characters are under this section. Use Template:Voice (Battle).
    • When editing the table content, change |LABEL_rows=1 to |LABEL_rows=0 if the line corresponding to the label is not part of the banter. Remove any excess |LABEL_jp=, |LABEL_en=, |LABEL_note=, and |LABEL_file= parameters that are unused.
  • Use subheaders to section each character or characters that are bantered with.
    • Link the primary name of a character, even if they don't have a primary version yet. For example, use === Cassius === instead of === Cassius (Event) ===.
    • Preferred order of subheaders is the alphabetical order.
    Example sections:
Character Banter
Percival
Vane
  • If the character does not have banter with other characters, add the following sentence under the section header:
This character does not have any banter.

Holidays

  • Holiday lines can only be heard during the events made for the respective holiday. Just like the special holiday cutscenes, these voicelines cannot be accessed in-game past the event date.
Event Dates
Happy Birthday Player's birth date*
Happy New Year January 1-7
Valentine's Day February 14-17
White Day March 14-17
Trick or Treat October 31-November 7
Happy Holidays December 25-30
Happy Birthday messages stay available for about a week past the date.
  • If the character does not have holiday specific lines, add the following sentence under the section header:
This character does not have any holiday lines.

If Variants Have the Same Holiday Lines

  • If a character shares the holiday lines with their other playable versions, only edit the section on the primal version's page. Transclude the primal version's Holidays section on the alternate versions by replacing its content with the following (replace NAME with the primal version's article title, e.g. ):
Holidays
Happy Birthday
Happy New Year
Valentine's Day
White Day
Trick or Treat
Happy Holidays
Outfits

  • If a character has unique lines in battle while equipping a specific outfit, create a subheader with the outfit's name and use Template:Voice (Menu) and Template:Voice (Battle) again.
    • Preferred order of subheaders is the alphabetical order.
    • Unlike character banter, outfit subsection headers should not be links.
    Example sections:
Outfits
Eternal's Summer Vacation
Twilight Ties Kimono
  • If the character does not have any outfits, add the following sentence under the section header:
This character does not have any outfits.
  • If the character does have an outfit, but said outfit does not have any unique voicelines, add the following sentence under the section header:
This character does not have any outfit-specific lines.

If Variants Can Equip the Same Outfits

  • Transclude the primal version's Outfit section on the alternate versions by replacing its content with the following (replace NAME with the primal version's article title, e.g. ):
Outfits
