The Strongest Twin Blade

Drawing out even more of the Four-Sky Blade's power, Feower is nearly consumed by bloodlust. He grows fearful of being overwhelmed and abandons the weapon, but (Captain) returns it to him and offers a spar, confident that Feower will control it. (Captain)'s trust drives Feower to master the blade, giving him new strength to protect the people important to him.

In the aftermath of the Four-Sky Blade's revelations...
(Captain) and Feower continue to analyze the Revenant weapon.
Finally Feower is able to draw out even more of the blade's power.
Vyrn: Brr... Just lookin' at it makes my blood run cold. Feels like I'd get chopped up if I got too close...
Feower: It's the same sensation I felt when I went berserk. No, maybe even stronger than that.
Feower cautiously picks up the dagger and takes a test swing.
Feower: ...!
To his horror, he finds himself frozen in place.
A cold darkness from the Four-Sky Blade travels down his arm and spreads into his body.
Feower: (I remember this feeling... Just like the time I was possessed...)
Feower: (So this is what it meant by a non-venomous poison... A psychological poison...)
The cold corruption burrows into his heart and penetrates his thoughts.
Four-Sky Blade: (Kill...)
Feower: (Stop it...)
Four-Sky Blade: (Give in to the urge. Snip the life lines in front of you. Feed your desires.)
Feower: (Aagh...)
Four-Sky Blade: (Slice their bellies and pull out their entrails. Snap their spines and twist off their heads! Rip off their limbs and cleanse yourself in their blood!)
Feower: (Stop... That's enough...)
Feower: (Guh...)
Four-Sky Blade: (Don't resist... Join us... Take their lives...)
Feower: (Kill... them... all...)
Four-Sky Blade: (Yes! Kill them!)
  1. Feower!

Choose: Feower!

Feower: Augh!
Hearing (Captain) call out his name, Feower snaps back to reality. His grip loosens on the dagger, and it clatters to the ground.
Feower: Huff... Huff...
Lyria: A-are you okay?
Vyrn: What's wrong? You suddenly froze up back there.
Feower: ...
Feower: I'm... a little tired right now. I need to go sit down for a bit.
Vyrn: Hey, wait. Aren't you gonna take the Four-Sky Blade with you?
Feower: ...
Feower: Sorry, (Captain). Would you mind holding onto it for a while?
Feower hurries away without waiting for a response.
He never comes back to reclaim it.
After a few days pass, (Captain) assumes Feower is bothered by something and pays the stricken Eternal a visit.
Feower: Oh, hey, (Captain).
Feower: Here about the Four-Sky Blade, right? Sorry I haven't picked it up from you yet.
Feower: ...
  1. Are you scared of it?
  2. Why haven't you?

Choose: Are you scared of it?

Feower: Hahaha... That obvious, huh?
Feower: It only took one swing before I felt myself losing control again.
Feower: I tried to push back. But that chilling bloodlust seeped into every part of my body.

Choose: Why haven't you?

Feower: It pisses me off to admit this, but I'm afraid to touch the Four-Sky Blade.
Feower: I only had it in my hand for a few seconds but already my mind was becoming clouded with malice...
Feower: I tried to murder you guys... Damn it...

Feower: Man, this is so pathetic...
Feower: I'm washed up.
  1. Catch!
  2. Let's see about that.

Choose: Catch!

Feower: Wh-what! Don't even think about—
Feower: Hey, hey, hey!
(Captain) tosses the Four-Sky Blade at Feower like a beach ball.
The flustered Eternal somehow catches it by the handle.
Feower: Have you lost your mind! This isn't a toy!
Feower: ...
Feower: No, seriously. I think you've gone crazy.
His face has gone pale, eyes wide with distress.
(Captain) meets Feower's wild stare and draws out a weapon.
Feower: You want me to fight you using the dagger?
Go to "Continue 2"

Choose: Let's see about that.

(Captain) hands Feower the Four-Sky Blade.
He takes it without realizing what he's done.
Feower: What are you... No, you can't be serious.
(Captain) nods and faces the Eternal with a weapon drawn.
Feower: A sparring match? Have you lost your mind?

Continue 2

Feower: Weren't you listening to a word I said? It almost took over me again.
Feower: But you still want me to swing it around?
Feower: I can't do it.
Feower: ...
  1. I believe in you.

Choose: I believe in you.

Feower: That's not fair, you know.
Feower: How am I supposed to say no to that?
Feower: You suck...
Feower spins the dagger in his hand and sizes up (Captain).
One second ticks off, but to them the calm before the storm feels like a welcome eternity.
Then the din of the world around them stops altogether.
Feower: Haaaah!
Feower dashes forward with the dagger.
Feower: (Guh!)
He recognizes the dark chill invading his heart.
Four-Sky Blade: (Lop off the head! Surrender yourself to us!)
Feower: (Shut up...)
Four-Sky Blade: (Eyes squelching, ribs breaking... You know those sounds all too well, don't you?)
Feower: (Shut... up...)
Four-Sky Blade: (Or how about ripping the heart out? Hop into that open chest cavity like a bath tub! Scrub-a-dub-dub!)
Four-Sky Blade: (Embrace it, Feower! Take joy in maiming, killing, and destroying!)
Feower: (Ngh... Aagh...)
Four-Sky Blade: (Your refusal is getting tiresome. Your victim's just standing there. It'd be impossible not to kill them.)
Feower: (Standing... there?)
Feower struggles to look at (Captain) while fighting off the darkness.
He's shocked to see (Captain) standing in front of him without a weapon.
The captain's arms are spread apart as if asking for a hug.
Four-Sky Blade: (The youth has accepted death.)
Feower: (Wrong...)
Feower: (You're wrong...)
He can hear (Captain)'s words ringing in his head.
Feower: ("I believe in you.")
Feower: (That's what (Captain) said.)
Feower: ((Captain) has complete faith that I'll overcome this bloodlust.)
Feower: (The only one who doesn't trust me is myself. I was afraid to use the Four-Sky Blade.)
Feower: (I can deal with the consequences of my own mistakes, but I won't betray the trust of someone who believes in me!)
Feower: (I choose to believe in (Captain)! And I'll make you trust me!)
Feower: Raaagh!
Feower slashes furiously with the Four-Sky Blade as if trying to clear his thoughts with each swing.
His attacks stop within a thread-width of his captain.
(Captain) emerges from the deadly barrage of cuts—which any single one is capable of splitting a foe in two—without a scratch.
(Captain) smiles at Feower's control of the Four-Sky Blade.
  1. See? It all worked out in the end.

Choose: See? It all worked out in the end.

Feower: Hah... Hahaha....
Feower: You are... absolutely... insane...
Feower: Proves how much confidence you have in me though.
Feower: You willingly staked your life on the bet that I'd bring the Four-Sky Blade under my control.
Feower: Now that's what I call strength.
With a bemused smile, he plops down hard on the ground.
(Captain) quietly takes a seat beside him.
Feower: It's crazy to think how lost I was. I thought putting my trust in someone would only make me weaker.
Feower: The old me would've charged ahead without any plan whatsoever. Brute force is fine as long as it moves you forward.
Feower: Hah. That was a dumb idea too.
Feower: I have to be willing to trust in others and rely on them like you do. That's what makes people resilient.
Feower: ...
Feower: Yeah, that's why you're so strong, isn't it?
Feower: Trust is at the core of that uncanny strength of yours.
Feower: Say, do you think I've gotten any closer to becoming the strongest?
(Captain) nods.
Feower: Haha... I'm glad I asked you to help me with the Four-Sky Blade. I faced my demons and lived to tell about it.
Feower: From now on I don't think Stardust Town or my sister are going to have anything to worry about.
Feower: Better yet, I'll be able to stay on the right track now. Well, assuming you stick by me, and I don't lose your trust.
Feower: Anyway, thanks for not giving up on me.
Feower: I'll be leaning on you again in the future, (Captain).
Feower snickers. It sounds awkward coming from him, but it's filled with genuine joy.
Strangely enough, the Four-Sky Blade may be the one to thank for strengthening the bond shared between (Captain) and Feower.
