The Girl on the Bear
Even though she had suddenly appeared in a new world, Rika opens up to (Captain)'s crew, and starts enjoying herself. However, when her thoughts starts to wander and she thinks about returning to her own world and her sister Mika, she suddenly becomes sad. Unable to abandon someone in need, (Captain) invites Rika to journey with them, and she gladly accepts.
Rika: Lets-a-go, Mr. Bear! Giddy up!
Some time had passed since Rika met (Captain)'s crew.
Though at first she had her reservations about the crew, Rika finally opened up to them.
Rika: Hey hey hey! Looky there, Mr. Bear!
Rika: Wowzers, he goes exactly where I want him to! Isn't he just the sweetest?
Lyria: Hee hee. Looks like you're starting to fit in with this world a little, Rika.
Vyrn: Oooooh, I feel like a child of the wilderness! (Captain)!
Rika: Rawr! I'm gonna gobble you up!
Vyrn: Whoa! Don't scare me like that all of a sudden!
Rika: Awww, look at my cute little belly button! Pretty racy, right, (Captain)?
Choose: (How childish.)
Rika: Hey! You just thought I was childish or something, didn't you! I can tell from your face!
Rika: You don't see how adorable I am? Oof, that makes me angry! I'm gonna take a bite outta you!
Vyrn: H-hang on a second! Chill out!
Lyria: Eek! Don't bite us! I'm sure that they were just dumbstruck with how adorable you are and were lost for words!

(Captain) nodded repeatedly.
Rika: Tee hee hee! So long as you know!
(Captain) narrowly avoided getting bitten by Rika thanks to Lyria's swift intervention.
Choose: Yeah, adorable, Rika.

Rika: Hey, I know! I'm gonna show you exactly just how cute and adorable I can be!
Rika: Oh... Except I left my photo album back in the waiting room...

Vyrn: Hey! It's Phantagrande! You sure you ain't got a screw loose?
Rika: That's the one! I'm gonna enjoy myself to the max while I'm here in Phantgrande!
Rika: Like, I don't have any homework here! There's no curfew either! And oof, it's like summer every day!
Rika: Awww, but not being able to go to the mall will be a major bummer!
Vyrn: Huh? What's a mall?
Rika: Umm, only my favorite place in, like, the whole wide world! Though I suppose you wouldn't know about them, huh.
Rika: I promised my sis that next time I was on vacation I would go with her to the mall.
Rika's demeanor suddenly shifts from the chirpy mood she has been in until now, and she suddenly seems sad.
Rika looks down at the ground and notices a pink stuffed animal nearby.
Rika: Ah, look, look! It looks just like Sis!
Lyria: Oh, how cute! It's nice that you guys are always together. You must really get along with her.
Rika: Yeah... But I haven't been able to charge my phone since I got here, so...
Rika: Sis must be worrying about me...
Choose: Worried? Come along with us then.
Rika: Really? I mean, you really mean it?
Lyria: Yeah, of course!
Choose: Could I ride your bear?
Rika: H-huh? Erm, yeah, no problem!
Rika: But in exchange, you have to let me join you on your airship.
(Captain) accepts Rika's proposition, and nods with a broad grin.

Rika: Ooh yay! I'll do my best to be of service!

Rika: Don't mind me. Just a sniffle! Though it is getting a little chilly out here, come to think of it.
Lyria: Uh-oh. The last thing we need is for you to catch a cold!
Vyrn: I'll second that. It looks like the sun's about to set, so let's get back to the airship pronto!
Rika: Aww, you're really worried about me! Thanks guys!
And so Rika joins the crew.
With warm food and a safe place to sleep, in the end Rika manages to avoid catching a cold.
Summer Means Bug Hunting
Rika has started to become accustomed to life in the sky world. Treating it like a child's first visit to the countryside. During a conversation about Rika's favorite bug, the rhinoceros beetle, Vyrn says he's seen a similar bug in the monster-filled forest nearby. And so the party enters the forest to look for the bug.
Rika has started to adapt to the new world she has found herself in.
Something about her excitement reminds the crew of a child visiting the countryside for the first time.
Rika: Wowee... That forest is humongous!
Rika: This world is just so huge and filled with nature!
Vyrn: Come again? You've never seen a forest before?
Rika: Well, it's my first time seeing one this huge, that's for sure!
Rika: I bet I could even find my favorite kind of bug in there!
Lyria: Wait, what? You have a favorite bug, Rika? What kind of bug?
Rika: Yeah! It's called a rhinoceros beetle! 'Cause it has this great big horn coming out of its head.
Rika: And its whole body is armored so it looks really tough. It's pretty much the coolest bug ever.
Vyrn: Hmm, a bug with a horn and armor, eh? You know, I think I may've seen something like that near here once before...
Rika: Whoa, really? You have?
Rika: Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go look for it now!
Rika manages to convince (Captain) and crew to accompany her on a hunt for her favorite bug.
Loaded up with bug-catching gear, the party ventures into the monster-filled forest.
Summer Means Bug Hunting: Scene 2
(Captain)'s crew discover an especially large tree while walking through the forest and slather a special honey that attracts bugs on it. When they come back a little while later to look for rhinoceros beetles, a monster appears to take the gathered bugs.
Walking through the forest, the party comes across an especially large tree.
(Captain) slathers a special honey on the tree to attract bugs and lure them into a trap.
Rika: Will this make loads of bugs come, do you think?
Vyrn: You betcha! Give it a little while and this place'll be swarming with the critters!
Rika: Aww, man! But I hate waiting!
Lyria: Hee hee. Although... there are a lot of monsters around here too, so why don't we return to the airship to wait?
Rika: Sounds like a plan! Anything to make the time go more quickly...
The party decides to return to the airship until it's time to check the trap.
Several hours later, they head back towards the tree once more.
Rika: Ooh, I wonder how many rhino beetles will be waiting for me. I hope there's a whole bunch of them!
Vyrn: Hehe, you've been all fired up like this since we left, Rika.
Lyria: Yes, you must be really into these rhinoceros beetles.
Rika: C'mon, everyone! Quit your dawdling and let's get a move on!
Rika leads the way back, just barely waiting for everyone and almost breaking into a run.
When they arrive back at the tree, they find the trap they set swarming with all manner of creepy crawlies.
Rika: Look, look! Check out all the butterflies!
Rika: Whoa, and such huge wasps, too! Look out for their stingers!
Rika: Eww! And I'm not sure what these are, but they're kinda gross!
Coming right up to the trap, Rika scours through the assortment of bugs for any sign of rhinoceros beetles.
Vyrn: Well, Rika? Any of those beetles you were after?
Rika: Hmm... Wait a minute... Aha!
Rika: Oh, phooey. It's just a drone beetle.
No sooner have the words left her mouth than the bugs in the trap seem to sense something, and start making a noise.
Rika: H-huh? What are you all...
Predator: Ca-caw!
Rika: Y-yikes! What the heck is that ugly thing?
Lyria: Eek! R-Rika!
Vyrn: Uh-oh, looks like a surprise attack! You've gotta help Rika, (Captain)!
Summer Means Bug Hunting: Scene 3
Thanks to (Captain)'s quick thinking, Rika finally finds the rhinoceros beetles she was searching for. However, when the beetles all get together, the males start to fight over the females' attention. Although she isn't able to catch a beetle to show to her sister, Mika, Rika looks forward to telling her all about them when they are reunited.
(Captain)'s party defeats the monster trying to prey upon the bugs they caught.
However, the rhinoceros beetle Rika was hoping to find is nowhere to be seen.
Rika: Aww, looks like there weren't any rhinoceros beetles here after all.
Rika: But this was a lot of fun! Thanks for everything, (Captain)!
Moved by her gratitude, (Captain) tells Rika not to give up so soon.
And in that moment, (Captain) spins around and strikes the tree's trunk with an almighty blow.
Barely a second later, gigantic rhinoceros beetles begin falling down from the branches above them.
Rika: Wh-whoa! It's showering rhinoceros beetles!
Rika: Look how huge they are! And so cool!
The giant rhinoceros beetles fall in such large numbers that it appears to be raining, thrilling Rika.
Vyrn: Rika isn't freaked out in the slightest! How impressive!
Instead, Rika was helping the beetles that had landed upside down turn back over onto their feet.
Lyria: Hahaha... Oh Rika, you really do care for rhinoceros beetles, don't you?
After waiting for what seems like a reasonable amount of time, Vyrn calls out to Rika.
Vyrn: All right! We've found what we came for, so we should think about heading back soon.
Rika seems to be thinking over Vyrn's suggestion.
Rika: Hang on a just a minute... I want to ride these home!
Vyrn: Whaaat? No! There's no way you can ride on these beetles!
Rika: Sure there is! I'll train them all up into my personal beetle army!
At that moment, the previously docile male beetles begin surrounding the females and competing aggressively for their attention.
Lyria: Eek!
The clash of beetles' horns against one other is so intense, they're almost giving off sparks.
Vyrn: This is bad! Get out of there, Rika!
Rika: Oh no! My rhinoceros beetles!
The party grabs Rika and drags her away from the warring insects.
Rika: Aww, nuts. So much for my dream of commanding my very own beetle army...
Vyrn: You weren't really planning on keeping those beetles captive, were you, Rika?
Rika: Well, sure I was! They were the biggest beetles I've ever seen!
Rika: I wanted to show them to my sister and my producer too...
Lyria: Hee hee. You really love sharing things with your sister, don't you?
Rika: Hehe, yeah. But I wasn't even able to take a photo...
Rika: Well, can't be helped, I guess! She'll just have to settle for listening to all my vacation stories.
A mischievous smile spreads across Rika's face.
Later, upon being reunited with her sister, Rika would gleefully recount to her the story of the rhinoceros beetles.
She smiled at the thought of how grossed out her sister would be when she told her all about the huge bugs she found.
Love Ya, Sis and Beetles!
Rika waxes lyrical about her big sister, Mika, declaring that she wants to be a better idol than her one day. Just then they spot a little girl crying in the shadows and save her from attacking monsters.
(Captain) and company are staying in a village nestled deep in a forest.
One day Rika blurts out her intention once more to create an army of rhinoceros beetles. And this time, she really seems determined.
She dashes toward a giant, conspicuous tree in the distance to catch herself a few of her favorite critters.
The crew follows after her, delving ever further into the forest.
Rika: So, yeah, Mika was only there helping out at the time...
Rika: But the moment she stepped out on stage, the audience was totally squealing with joy!
Rika: Everyone was like, "Whoo! Mika-chan's the only idol for me now!"
Rika: She was super awesome! Then again, we are talking about a grade-A charismatic high school idol here!
Vyrn: Boy, it sounds like you really like your sister.
Rika: Of course! She's stylish, cool, sweet, she practices more than anyone else, and—
Mika: Whoa, whoa, hold it, Rika. You're embarrassing me!
Rika: Ehehe, I'm only stating the facts here!
Mika: Sigh... It's always the same with you, Rika.
Lyria: Teehee. You two get along so well.
Rika's been talking about Mika nonstop ever since they entered the forest.
Rika's eyes sparkle with every mention of her sister, inadvertently bringing a smile to everyone within earshot.
Rika: I want to be just like my sister someday!
Rika: Aah, there are so many things I want to see and do in this world that'll really help me shine as an idol!
Mika: Hehe... Now you're talking, Rika.
Rika: Ha ha! You almost sound surprised! I am growing every day, you know?
Rika: Hm? Is someone there?
Rika suspects that she saw something and stares at the trees ahead.
Girl: Hic... Sob...
Mika: What's a little girl doing out here all by herself?
Rika: Watch out!
Rika spots a monster coming from behind the girl.
Rika: Let's do this, cutie bear!

Rika Daaash!
Monster: Groaar!
Girl: Eep! A m-monster!
Rika: Gyaargh!
Rika dashes in to repel the monster, saving the girl in the nick of time.
Rika: Whew, that was close! You okay? Are you hurt anywhere?
Girl: I-I'm okay. Thank you, miss!
Rika: Great!
Rika: Wait, did you just call me miss? Me? A miss?
Mika: Rika! Don't run off like that on your own! Are you all right? You're not hurt, are you?
Lyria: Rika-chan, is everything okay?
Monster: Gwoaar!
Vyrn: Another monster, huh? All right, (Captain)! Let's take care of it first!
Love Ya, Sis and Beetles!: Scene 2
The little girl grows anxious, explaining that she's been waiting quite a while now for her older sister to return. Although the girl seems really upset and perhaps even bitter, a girl riding a giant rhinoceros beetle comes in to help the crew when monsters show up.
Having defeated the monster, the crew hears out the little girl who was crying by the trees.
Girl: So you see, I came to this forest with my big sister.
Girl: She said she wanted to show me something really cool and asked me to wait here.
Girl: But she's been gone for a while, and I was getting scared...
Rika: So that's why you were crying...
Rika: Well, I just want you to know that you did great! No, better than great! You're absolutely amazing!
Rika pets the girl on the head while consoling her.
Girl: Ehehe. Thank you, miss.
Rika: Tell you what: why don't you call me Big Sis Rika.
Girl: Big Sis Rika... Wow, you're so nice to me! You're the best!
Rika: Ehehe!
Vyrn: Looks like she's taken a liking to you, huh?
Mika: Wow, I never thought I'd see the day when Rika played the part of someone's big sister!
Rika: Heheh! I know everyone sees me as the little sister, but I can play the role of big sister just as well!
Mika: Sure, sure. Go for broke, Big Sis. Teehee.
Rika: Uh, Mika? You didn't just laugh at me, did you?
Mika: Nope, you definitely didn't see me laugh. Nuh-uh.

Rika: Grr! So you were laughing at me! Boo, that's not nice!
Girl: Aww, you even argue like best friends!
Girl: My sister's nothing like Big Sis Rika at all... She can be really mean.
Girl: She's so selfish all the time! I mean, she just goes off and leaves me all alone...
Girl: Sometimes she even seems to enjoy causing trouble for me.
Girl: I hate her so much!
Rika: Hmm...
Rika: But I'm sure your sister's—
It happens the moment she opens her mouth.
Monster: Groaar!
Rika: !
Girl: Eep!
Mika: Rika!
A monster comes in and pounces at Rika and the girl.
Mika: Something's flying this way—
Vyrn: Wha? Something just sent the monster flying!
The crew uniformly turn their heads to look at the person responsible for deflecting the monster's attack.
What they see is a mysterious girl riding atop a giant rhinoceros beetle.
???: Please, tell me you're okay!
Rika: Huh? What's going on here—Whoa! Check out that rhinoceros beetle! Cool beans!
Vyrn: The heck is going on here?
Monster: Gwoaar!
Lyria: Watch out! The monster's getting back up!
Vyrn: Darn it! Let's do this, (Captain)!
Love Ya, Sis and Beetles!: Scene 3
Their savior turns out to be the little girl's sister, and the crew watches warmly at their touching reunion. They find that the villagers call the rhinoceros beetles "ohtsu bugs". Rika takes a ride on one with the older sister and dreams of holding a concert with Mika atop rhinoceros beetles one day.
Vyrn: We appreciate you protecting the two girls, but just who in the skies are you anyway?
Girl's Sister: I'm her sister.
Rika: Wait, you are?
Girl's Sister: I thought I'd surprise my baby sister by coming back on top of an ohtsu bug.
Girl's Sister: But it looks like things got out of hand while I was away. So sorry about that.
Girl: ...
Girl: Waaah! I was frightened out my wits!
But, Sis, you were so cool back there! Hic...
But, Sis, you were so cool back there! Hic...
The older sister embraces the younger one with a warm smile.
The crew is touched to see their sisterly love. But many questions remain unanswered.
Rika: I'm really glad you met up with your sister! One thing though...
Rika: What did you mean by an O2 bag?
Girl's Sister: Hm? Oh, you must be talking about the creature I rode here—an ohtsu bug.
Rika: Ah, so that's what you call these giant rhinoceros beetles? That's pretty cool!
Girl's Sister: In our town, ohtsu bugs are regarded as divine creatures.
Girl's Sister: Everyone just loves them, and riding on one is like a rite of passage.
Rika: Wow! What kinda town is that? I'm getting jealous just hearing about it!
Girl: Oh, Sis! You're amazing—riding that ohtsu bug like a pro!
Girl: Um, Big Sis Rika...
Girl: My sister's always been able to handle any sort of thing. She's just awesome like that.
Girl: And she always does everything she can to cheer me up. Just look how far she went today...
Girl: I want to be just like her when I grow up. Earlier when I said I hate her... I didn't really mean it!
Rika: Yeah?
The girl seems bashful as she reveals her true feelings.
Rika grins from ear to ear at the girl.
Rika: Hehe, you two make a great sisterly duo, just like me and Mika!
Rika: But at the end of the day, my love for my big sister always wins out!
Rika: So you should always remember how much you love your sister. Even if you don't mean it, you should never say you hate her.
Girl: Big Sis Rika! You're right... I'll never say it again!
Mika: Rika... Haha! How does it feel being the older sister for once?
Rika: Geez, Sis! Well, I am older than her after all!
A friendly altercation ensues between the two, livening up the mood.
Rika: Aaanyway! I'm just really surprised to meet someone who's so into rhinoceros beetles!
Rika: Plus she can ride them! Is that just awesome or what?
Girl: Say, Big Sis Rika, do you like ohtsu bugs too?
Rika: Of course! They're just so cool! You know, I've always wanted to make my own army of rhinoceros beetles!
The girl's sister leads the crew to the giant tree, where they find tons of ohtsu bugs.
Rika is all fired up as the girl's sister teaches her how to ride one.
Rika: Sweet! Check this out, Sis! I'm riding on a rhinoceros beetle!
Mika: Y-yeah... I can see that. Wow.
Rika: Hmm, I wonder if I can stand up while riding on it... Giddy up, boy!
Rika: Oof! This is harder than I thought!
Rika: All right, I'm gonna practice tons and become a rhinoceros beetle master!
Rika: (I'm gonna do a live concert while riding on one of these some day...)
Rika: (And Mika's gonna be right there beside me!)
Rika freely soars between the trees under the reddening sky.
Mika looks on from a distance with a bittersweet smile.
Rika Land, Here We Come!
(Captain) and company bump into the sisters from before and learn that the Melanel Festival would be happening that very night. When they see a group of thugs spraying graffiti on the town's Melanel statue, Rika jumps in to stop the vandalism.
(Captain) and company are staying in a village deep in a forest.
One morning Rika calls out to the crew with a sparkle in her eyes.
Rika: Hey, hey, (Captain), Sis. I wanna go shopping in town!
Mika: Shopping? In town?
Rika: Uh-huh! I'm getting that urge to splurge! I'm sure you're feeling it too, Sis.
Mika: Rika. We'd have to leave the forest to get to town. Let's not be selfish now.
Rika: Aww, come on! It's getting boring being stuck out here in the sticks!
Rika: Besides, it's not that far! Think of it like heading from Saitama to Shibuya back in our world. Right, (Captain)?
Choose: Yep, you said it.
Rika: See? Even (Captain) agrees with me! C'mon, Sis! Whaddya say?
Mika: Hold it, (Captain)! Do you even know where Saitama and Shibuya are?
Rika: Never mind that! (Captain) could use a break too. Let's get moving already, Sis.
Choose: Saitama?
Rika: Weell... Let's just say it seems really far—but it's actually pretty close!
Mika: Pretty close, my foot!
Rika: Aww, come on, Sis! Why d'you have to be such a fuddy-duddy?

(Captain) nods firmly at Mika.
Rika: Yay! You're the best, Sis!

Lyria: Sounds like fun! I'm looking forward to our shopping trip too!
Vyrn: Right on. I'm always up for a change of pace.
The crew departs from the village and arrives at the town market after noon.
Rika: Whoa, check out the sparkle on this necklace! It's almost like magic!
Mika: Uhh, that's because it's actually infused with magic, silly. Ooh, I really like this one!
Vyrn: Looks like the two are having a blast out here after all.
???: Heeey, Rika-chan!
???: Big Sis Rika!
Rika: Hm? Someone's calling me from up above... Ah!
Rika looks up to find two figures atop rhinoceros beetles waving at her.
They turn out to be the sisters the crew had met previously in the forest.
Rika: Hey! So this is where you two lived! Talk about coincidence!
Rika: Oh, and I see you learned to ride a rhinoceros beetle too! Good going!
Girl: Mm-hm! I wanted to be just like my sister, so ever since that day I've been practicing my socks off!
Girl: And guess what? We were both chosen as ohtsu bug riders for the Melanel Festival!
Rika: Hm, what's that? You ever heard of it, Sis?
Mika: I'm just as clueless as you.
Girl's Sister: Allow me to explain. Here in this town, we pray to a divine beast called Melanel, you see. Melanel's our guardian deity.
Vyrn: So you've got a deity here, huh?
Girl's Sister: Well, that's sort of what we're here about. Actually, it'll be faster if you just come with us and see for yourselves.
Girl's Sister: We can see it all from here.

Girl: The statue's definitely big, but the real Melanel's even bigger!
Rika: Yeah? This Melanel deity sounds really amazing.

Rika looks down by the statue's feet to find a group of rowdy thugs drawing graffiti on it.
Thug 1: Hahah! This whole Melanel thing is a joke!
Thug 2: Let's see how it likes this!
Vyrn: Rgh... That's messed up...
Rika: Defacing the ultra-cool Melanel statue is unforgivable! I'm gonna go stick it to them!
Mika: Wait, Rika!
Rika goes off alone to confront the thugs.
Rika: Stop this right now! This statue belongs to everyone! Drawing graffiti on it is just wrong!
Thug 1: Huh? What's with this kid?
Rika: Don't call me a kid! I'm in junior high, and I'm the most charismatic idol you'll find anywhere!
Rika: Helping gorilla deities is all in a day's work for an idol! Get ready for a pummeling!
Vyrn: (Captain)! We've gotta help her!
Rika Land, Here We Come!: Scene 2
As is village tradition, the sisters perform above ohtsu bugs to appease the gorilla deity Melanel during the festival. When their performance is obstructed by thugs, Rika and Mika take the girls' places.
After defeating the thugs, the crew once again listens to what the girls have to say.
Girl's Sister: Melanel has lived in the forest since ancient times. But she comes to this town once a year.
Girl's Sister: And that day is when we hold the Melanel Festival.
Girl's Sister: It is custom for girls designated as ohtsu bug riders to perform a traditional dance.
Girl's Sister: Without the dance, it's said that Melanel would be most displeased and begin rampaging across town.
Rika: So a bunch of you get to dance from atop rhinoceros beetles? Wow, that sounds like fun!
Mika: Melanel Festival? Riding on ohtsu bugs? Dancing? I have absolutely no idea what's happening here!
Vyrn: No problem with that. I'm just as lost as you are.
Rika: So when's this festival happening?
Girl: It's tonight actually.
Rika: What? Tonight! Ooh, I wanna see the dance! (Captain)? Sis?
