Overview

Galleon is a well rounded and highly rated character who is suited well for most types of content. Her significant utility makes her a very important character for some of the most difficult content currently in the game.

While some characters can fill a similar niche (and while she does not bring any real debuffs of her own), her permanent duration buffs and extremely useful passive effects make her a premier character, particularly in Battle v2 content with fated chains. Because her cooldowns are lowered when she Charge Attacks, she is not as restricted as other permanent buffers by their inability to provide the team buffs without many turns of setup time. Her ability to heal with this same skill after all buffs are applied means she will not feel as if she has a dead skill afterward, either. She truly towers above many of the other buffers in terms of quality, and is not nearly as susceptible to an early death from stray boss auto attacks, as she has incredibly high personal survivability.

She also is one of the few characters to provide benefits for teammates while they are guarding in version 2 combat, which allows for significantly safer playstyles in some of the highest tiers of challenging content.

Galleon has very few grid or other character requirements to become useful, as she has tremendous modifiers on her buffs which will benefit both newer players and high-level setups alike.

How to Play

Galleon is a utility buffer who also brings very high damage on the turns in which she attacks.

Normally, you will activate Her skill three The Gold's Foundation to grant her massive self buffs, and then begin to give the rest of your team her targetable skill one buff Landslide's Blessing.

Things to consider for this buff:

Given the range of usefulness for this buff, the content and grid strength will affect who you are likely to choose as a recipient. Typically you will want to choose either a character which has less grid support (whether a lack of awakening/EMP defense or hp), or one which has higher triple attack chance or multi-hit damage instances on auto attack (to maximize the damage from the permanent echo effect, such as Viking MC class or Halloween Cucouroux).

This buff also gives a type of soft debuff immunity (100% Debuff Resistance Up), and therefore a safe option is to apply it to the MC first and foremost. This will allow you to have the ability to use summons or MC's utility skills (such as "Clarity") to assist your other characters.

Her second skill, Bedrock Rain will automatically cast every few turns with her skill three active, and as such you may want to save it for triggers which require: True damage, skill damage, hit counts, or in order to dispel or delay as needed. While the cooldown is fairly short, she can only use her Charge Attack at most every other turn due to her skill 3 mechanics, so consider how often you will be able to lower her cooldowns in a given time between enemy buffs, triggers (and omen requirements for v2).

This skill as noted above is considered skill damage and as 6 hits toward a hit count omen as well, but is not increased by skill supplemental damage or by her passive granted assassin effect. It also does not consume that assassin effect when used.

Her third skill should almost always be used immediately upon battle entry, with very few exceptions.

Synergy

Galleon has synergy with several earth characters, some of which relate to her buff and some of which relate to her passives.

Some particular characters which benefit from Galleon:

1. Her Buff-

  • Cucouroux (Halloween): Cuco has three damages instances on her guaranteed triple attacks. This buff allows her to hit 18 damage instances per turn with no additional input from the player, and therefore also benefits three times more from thing which provide supplemental damage (via debuffs on the boss or buffs from the weapon and summon grids). Cuco also has increased hostility, which means when she does not dodge, she is prone to take more damage than other teammates. The defense from Galleon's buff assists with this by increasing her staying power.
  • Golden Knight: This Earth Grand character benefits in many ways from having lots of buff effects. Not only does she gain CA damage and Increased CA damage Cap, but she also has the ability to have C.A. Reactivation when at 15 total buffs or more. Due to the way Galleon's buff works, it functions as FIVE buffs in total which do not time-out and cannot be dispelled. This makes the goal of getting to 15 total buffs much easier to attain, and allows for The Golden Knight in turn to feed more meter to the rest of the team while doing more damage.
  • Monika (Valentine): In a similar vein, Valentine's Monika also provides benefits not only to herself but to the team increased by the number of buffs. Even her skills provide additional effects at 12 buffs, which is a much easier threshold when Galleon provides 5 permanent buffs to the character on her own.

2. Her Passives-

  • Satyr (Earth): Satyr's mechanic involves not attacking to grant both charge bar and C.A. buffs to the rest of the team. Due to this, she will get even more meter on top of this due to Galleon's passive "Mother Earth's Love," as well as benefitting from an assassin buff (albeit slightly reduced effectiveness for charged attacks) on the turns in which she does use her CA. This allows Satyr to use her Charge Attack with quite increased frequency, not only helping to keep her stacking mechanic high for utility, but also deal more damage given that she does not often use a regular turn to auto attack.

3. Both-

  • Cidala: Perhaps the character which benefits the most from being on the team with Galleon. Galleon makes up for their weaknesses. In the same way as Cucouroux, Cidala has increased hostility, and an addition has reduced resistance to debuffs. Galleon's buff makes up for both of these weaknesses, as well as providing echoes to a character with guaranteed double attack to allow for more damage and hit instances. Cidala also benefits greatly from Galleon's passives as well. Due to their own passive granting them echoes and double strike on turn end if they did not attack, Galleon's passive "Mother Earth's Love" grants them an assassin buff for their first hits, as well as additional charge bar to compensate for their turn spent guarding. In return, Cidala can use this additional bar to help fill the Fated Chain meter and allow for Galleon to do additional healing.

Note: It is important to remember that Galleon's cooldowns lower as she is able to use her Charge Attack. As such, teams which prioritize giving charge bar meter to the party or otherwise being Charge Attack focused will help Galleon in spreading her buffs at a quicker pace, as well as allowing her to heal more often with her Fated Chain passive. She is not reliant on the grid for much of her damage or Charge Bar gain, due to her guaranteed triple attacks. Due to this, she allows for quite a bit of flexibility in how you want to setup the rest of your team, as well as what you want your weapon grid to focus on in terms of damage modifiers.

Galleon also is the "Unknown" character type, which means she benefits from any of the Bahamut Weapon classes which specify which types benefit. As such she is much easier to include when considering a team to tackle a difficult fight.
