Nyarlathotep is a character in the works of H. P. Lovecraft and other writers. The character is commonly known in association with its role as a malign deity in the Lovecraft Mythos fictional universe, where it is known as the Crawling Chaos.
Its summon call, "Wood of N'gai" is a reference to the place where Nyarlathotep's form as "Dweller in Darkness" and "Howler in the Dark" is active.
"Crawling Chaos", "Faceless God", and "Haunter of the Dark" are some of Nyarlathotep's known titles.
"Now Roll for Sanity" is a reference to the tabletop RPG Call of Cthulhu, in which sanity is a statistic and mechanic that needs to be checked when demonic and bizarre things happen. Nyarlathotep appears in the game.
