The Beauty Is in the Spin
(Captain) and company stop on a small island where they encounter a performer named Spinnah who wishes to convey the beauty of a once-popular toy—the spin blade. After displaying the endless possibilities of the blade, such as its ability to control the wind, Spinnah asks to join the crew on their journey in order return the spin blade to its former glory.
The crew stops on a small island to rest and resupply lost provisions.
Katalina picks up a small item she finds and poses a question to the others.
Katalina: I have a question. We continue to see these items all over the island...
Katalina: Would anyone happen to know what they are?
Vyrn: Good question! I wanna know what they are too! I saw one at the inn.
Lyria: I saw one earlier too! It was on a shelf in a shop.
Katalina: That's right... There was even one near the table we were eating at.
Katalina: Hm? The blades on the edge spin...
Vyrn: I wonder what it's used for. Cuz of the shape, it can't be a wheel...
Lyria: Hmm... Maybe it's a gear. You don't see this shape every day...
The small object with its three blades spins on Katalina's fingertip.
Rackam: Hey, y'all! There you are!
Vyrn: Rackam! Did you finish fixing the ship? That was quick considering you were all alone.
Rackam: It didn't really need any fixing. Just some tinkering here and there.
Rackam: Hey! Katalina! That's...
Rackam: Hahaha! That's a spin blade! I remember those guys!
Katalina: This is a... spin blade? How did you know that?
Rackam: They were a huge hit back in the day! When I was this little.
Rackam: But they're relics now. How did you get your hands on one?
???: Spin blades are not relics!
Vyrn: Whoa! What's your problem?
???: I'm not just going to stand around while you trash talk spin blades.
Katalina: And you are?
Spinnah: I'm Spinnah! I'm something of a performer on this island.
Spinnah: I thought I would introduce you all to the art of the spin blade, so I followed you.
Katalina: Did you say performer? Are you saying these things we keep seeing all over town are part of an act?
Spinnah: I've placed them everywhere. Not just in town, but on various parts of the island so that travelers will become fascinated with them.
Spinnah: It's all part of my role as a performer.
Vyrn: That's great... But we've still got no idea what this thing even does.
Spinnah: It spins.
Vyrn: Right... And? Seems pretty useless...
Spinnah: That's it. It just spins on the tip of your finger.
Lyria: Is that all it does?
Spinnah: Correct! Its sole purpose is to spin. Isn't it exquisite? The absolute embodiment of beauty, don't you think?
Vyrn: Dude... If you could say something that makes even some sense...
Katalina: Since Rackam knew what it was, I thought it might be some piece of equipment.
Spinnah: Piece of equipment? This baby stands on its own!
Katalina: But... It just spins... So that makes it useless, correct?
Spinnah: Sigh... I don't know how much of the world you've seen, but you lack an eye for beauty. Savages...
Katalina: How dare you!
Katalina: This is getting us nowhere. We don't have time for you and your toys.
Spinnah: Really now? Then why are you still spinning it?
Katalina: What? I'm doing no such—
Spinnah silently points to Katalina's fingertip.
Katalina is spinning the object with speed and passion.
Spinnah: You aren't the only one. Look at your comrades.
Katalina: How is this happening! Have I been spinning this the whole time?
Vyrn: No way! We're spinning 'em too! How'd this even get in my hand?
Lyria: What's going on? My finger won't stop. It just keeps spinning the blade.
Rackam: It's just like back in the day! Before you know it, you're spinning!
Spinnah: A fantastic start. But that's only the tip of the iceberg.
Katalina: What? The tip?
Spinnah: Heh heh... Have I gotten your attention? Perhaps I misjudged you. Come with me.
Spinnah: I will take you to see the Spin Cup. Let me show the world of the spinning.
Vyrn: What? What's a Spin Cup?
Spinnah: It's an event that takes place every year on this island. You'll see that spin blades are not relics.
(Captain) and the crew are at a loss for words, but Spinnah runs along nonetheless.
Vyrn: Exactly what are they gonna do at the cup?
Rackam: I have no idea... Spin blades are just toys to kill time.
Katalina: I might be spinning this, but I can't imagine it has anything left to offer.
Having been invited, the crew is obliged to attend the cup.
On the day of the Spin Cup, the crew makes the trek to the arena.
Rackam: The people here seem to be in pretty high spirits... Though the arena isn't really what you'd call packed...
Vyrn: Yeah. I dunno who'd want to come to a spinny thing event.
Spectator: Are you travelers? Must be your first time to the Spin Cup, am I right?
Katalina: Well, yes it is. Would you tell us what this is all about?
Spectator: You've come to the right place. Here's the deal. The first person whose spin blade stops spinning is the loser of the battle.
Katalina: Battle? This a competition of sorts?
Spectator: That's right. And there are no other rules. Things get real ugly around here.
Rackam: I see. So it's a combination of spin blades and martial arts.
Katalina: But... What can a spin blade even do? It's just a toy...
Katalina: I... don't have high hopes for this cup.
Lyria: (Katalina is at it again with the spin blade. I don't think she's aware of it though...)
Katalina skillfully spins the blade on the tip of her finger, completely unaware.
The crowd cheers as a judge approaches the middle of the stage, followed by two men.
Rackam: Hey, look! Spinnah is already up to fight.
Rackam: The other guy looks pretty tough. I wonder if Spinnah's gonna be okay.
Large Man: Gahahaha!
The judge gives the signal, and the two competitors begin spinning.
Referee: Ready? Fight!
As soon as the battle begins, Spinnah's opponent floats lightly into the air and charges at him.
Large Man: Gaaah!
Rackam: What the!
The man shoots into the sky like a bullet, but Spinnah deftly dodges the tackle by soaring high above.
Vyrn: Whoa! Did he just fly?
Spectator: What? You guys didn't know they could do that?
Vyrn: Wait a sec! What do you mean? They're floating!
Spectator: Right. That's the power of a spin blade. You see the blade in their hands moving at top speed?
Spectator: Wow indeed. The speed of the blade allows them to lift themselves up.
Spectator: Flying into the air and staying there is second nature to any spin blade user.
Katalina: Look! He threw his blade!
Large Man: Haaah!
The opponent throws his spin blade with a grand gesture.
Spinnah gracefully dodges the attack, and the spin blade slices through the air to form an arc.
The spin blade circles the arena like a boomerang and returns to whence it came.
Vyrn: Cool! This spin blade stuff is kinda awesome!
Rackam: Yeah! Spinnah is really something too. I doubt many people can dodge all those attacks like he does!
Rackam: It's like he's dancing through the air!
Katalina: Gasp! You may have spoken too soon. His opponent is preparing another attack!
Large Man: Gaaah!
The man clenches his fist and goes in for the kill. Spinnah barely manages to dodge the attack, and the man's fist meets the earth below.
Vyrn: Come on! That was just crazy! How'd he pull that off?
Vyrn: I mean what the heck... How'd Fidget Fingers manage to jump like that?
Spectator: What? You still haven't noticed? The centrifugal force of the spin pumps the blood, causing its circulation to increase.
Spectator: This gives the body a momentary boost.
Spectator: Everybody knows at least that much...
Vyrn: What! Are you serious?
Spectator: Yup. Dead serious. But Spinnah is really something special.
Spectator: Look, he's readying his blade. Here it comes! Wait for it!
Spinnah places the spin blade in front of his body. And then it happens.
Vyrn: What now!
A calamitous wind begins to brew within the arena, and in the blink of an eye Spinnah's opponent is thrown like trash up against the wall.
Referee: K.O.! That ends the match! The winner is Spinnaaah!
Katalina: Is everyone all right?
Katalina: What just happened... Where did that draft come from?
Spectator: Come on now. Spinnah is a spin blade master. He can use the wind as he pleases.
Katalina: W-what! He controls the wind with that... toy?
Spectator: I hear he can even call a typhoon. He talks a lot about art, but he's one tough figher.
Vyrn: Cool! These spin blade people are amazing!
Spinnah continues breezing through the tournament unscathed and rises as the victor.
After the cup, (Captain) and crew race towards Spinnah.
Vyrn: You're super strong, dude! I didn't think a spinny cup thing would be interesting at all!
Spinnah: Scoff. Do you understand the beauty of a spin blade now?
Vyrn: Nah... Not really. Us noobs don't have a clue. But it was pretty cool when you used that thing as a weapon!
Spinnah: The spin blade is beauty and power in one. A blade that moves ungracefully through the air cannot be called art.
Katalina: My apologies, Spinnah. My words before were unjustified.
Katalina: I was under the false impression that your blade was a silly toy that only spins.
Spinnah: Apologies are unnecessary. As long as you will continue to use a spin blade, we have no qualms.
Event Organizer: Spinnah! So this is where you ran off to.
Spinnah: Why if it isn't the man in charge! Let me introduce you to my new friends. Everyone, meet the man behind the Spin Cup.
Spinnah: And what can I help you with today?
Event Organizer: It's about the Spin Cup... This will be the last time it's held.
Spinnah: What? What are you talking about?
Event Organizer: I'm sorry. Spin blades just aren't in anymore. They're a thing of the past.
Event Organizer: We've lost so many spectators. I don't see them coming back either. I know this is hard, but I've made my decision.
Spinnah: But... But the Spin Cup is what keeps spin-blading alive! I'm doing everything I can to keep it going!
Event Organizer: I... I'm sorry, Spinnah. Don't take this personally.
And with that the Spin Cup orchestrator takes his leave.
Spinnah: This can't be happening...
Vyrn: Aw... Come on... Cheer up...
Rackam: Yeah, you were amazing back there. You've got our vote of confidence.
Lyria: I agree! Don't you think so too, Katalina?
Katalina: Of course! You're truly gifted with a spin blade.
Spinnah: I'll bring it back...
Spinnah: If this fad is over...
Spinnah: Then I'll just have to start a new one! I'll travel the skies and start a new trend!
Spinnah: Why didn't I think of this before? Why did I think that the beauty of a spin blade could be contained on this small island?
Spinnah: If I just show the world the beauty of my blade, then I can breathe new life into the spin blade community.
Spinnah: Hey, will you let me on your ship, (Captain)?
Spinnah: I'll go wherever you go. I want every man, woman, and child to know the beauty of the spin blade!
Choose: Oh, they'll know!
- Oh, they'll know!
- I'll help!
Spinnah: Thank you. Your words give me strength.Choose: I'll help!
Spinnah: Thank you. You're a good friend. I'm sure your strength will help me develop new skills.Continue 1
Spinnah: Good, it's settled! Give me a holler whenever you want to see my beauty in action as a token of my appreciation.
Vyrn: Yeah... I still don't know what you think is so beautiful about your spinning...
And so the performer called Spinnah joins the crew, and together they set sail for the skies.
Make Their Heads Spin
Spinnah is a performer who set out to make the spin blade popular again by showing the world his spin. But he is distraught, having not yet met anyone who realizes the allure of the spin blade. One day, (Captain) and the crew accept a mission to guard a collector of beautiful objects and make their way toward the client's mansion.
The spin blade is much more than simply a toy Rackam enjoyed playing with as a child.
To make sure every person throughout the skies understands the allure of the spin blade, Spinnah sets out on a mission to inform the masses.
Vyrn: Hey, Fidget Fingers. Can I ask a question?
Spinnah: About the beauty of a spin blade? But of course. First, there is the balance struck on the body of the—
Vyrn: Geez. No one wants to hear about that. I wanna know how you start a typhoon.
Spinnah: Oh, that? It's simple. But who wants to hear about that boring old trick?
Vyrn: There's nothing boring about it! I bet you could get everyone pumped about spin blades if you showed them your typhoons!
Spinnah: Well, I guess you do have a point, but...
Spinnah: I'm just scared I won't be able to bring the spin blade boom back.
Spinnah: We've been together for some time now, but I don't see any signs that my trend is picking up speed. I've gotta say... I'm worried.
Spinnah: I don't think I'm reaching people the way I need to.
Vyrn: Dude... Don't go getting all soft on me now. Where's the fire I usually see in your eyes?
Spinnah: Haha. I'm in my natural swing today, or haven't you noticed? Look at this work of art.
Spinnah puts the spin blade into motion on his finger and lets it move up to his elbow and shoulder.
Vyrn: Yeah! There's the real you!
While the crew is gathering provisions, a voice calls out to them from behind.
Sierokarte: Hello, everybody. Looks like I found you all at the right time.
Lyria: Hi, Siero. What are you up to today?
Sierokarte: Just shopping for a few things. The usual...
Sierokarte: Now then! I've got a job for you. What do you say?
Sierokarte: I need all of you to protect some artwork from being stolen.
Katalina: Hm? From thieves?
Sierokarte: That's right. There's been a band of thieves going around and taking all kinds of things as of late. But I think I know their next move.
Sierokarte: Up in the mountains lives a collector of beautiful objects. I think that's the next target.
Sierokarte: So the collector has asked me to hire guards.
Vyrn: Hmm... So that's where we come in.
Vyrn: It sounds like the collector would have a good eye for any kind of artwork, huh?
Sierokarte: Of course! This collector is known specifically for having an eye for only the most beautiful things.
Katalina: What do you say, (Captain)? Should we take this request?
Vyrn: Hey, (Captain)! You're in, right?
Choose: I'm in.
- I'm in.
- Someone's excited...
Vyrn: Yeah! Let's do this! Come on, (Captain). Time to move.
Vyrn: Let's get to the collector a-sap!
Lyria: Vyrn... You seem really excited.
Vyrn: This isn't about me... You just never know when a bad guy will show up! Right, (Captain)?Choose: Someone's excited...
Vyrn: It's just...
Vyrn: You know! A friend in need is a friend indeed, right?
Vyrn: Leave this to us, Siero! We'll take it from here.Continue 1
Sierokarte: Thanks, you guys.
Sierokarte: The road leading to the mansion is full of monsters. Be careful.
Make Their Heads Spin: Scene 2
Vyrn had thought Spinnah would get along well with the collector since they were both fans of artwork, but his plan to cheer Spinnah up goes awry when their client turns out to be a jerk. Nevertheless, Spinnah appreciates the thought. Late that night, the thieves slip into the mansion to find (Captain) and the crew waiting for them.
By the time the crew arrives at the mansion, the sun has long past set.
Within the mansion are treasure troves of art.
The help leads the crew to the interior of the residence, and shortly afterward the master of the house makes his appearance.
Collector: What! These are my guards?
Collector: Damn it! I wasn't expecting a circus act to be my guards for the night!
Collector: All of you look so weak. You wouldn't be the band of thieves by any chance, would you?
Vyrn: What'd you say!
Vyrn: Didn't your mom ever teach you any manners?
Collector: Oh, look... The circus's added a talking lizard to their act!
Vyrn: I'm no lizard!
Collector: Look. That one over there is spinning something and didn't stop even when I made my appearance. No respect whatsoever!
Spinnah: My apologies...
Collector: Listen up. You buffoons must guard my treasures no matter the cost!
Collector: You think you can handle that? I won't be forgiving if you fail.
Katalina: Sigh... This is going to be more trouble than it's worth.
Vyrn: We don't got a choice anymore. It's pitch-black outside. If we try to leave we'll put ourselves in danger.
Lyria: I think so too. Monsters will be everywhere.
Although they have their reservations, the crew have no choice but to stay.
Vyrn: Sorry, Fidget Fingers...
Vyrn: I thought this art collector might be someone who'd spark your interest...
Spinnah: What? You took this request because of me?
Vyrn: Yeah... I thought maybe two people interested in the arts would hit it off, you know?
Spinnah: Hah... Such beauty...
Spinnah: Your kindness is all I need. I don't think that collector and I will ever see eye to eye, but...
Spinnah: I felt something very beautiful within you just now, Vyrn.
Vyrn: Yeah... I'm not sure I know what you're talking about, but as long as you cheer up that's good enough for me!
Katalina: Everything here looks extremely expensive.
Katalina: Hmm... While that collector's personality may be second rate, none of these items are.
Spinnah: You think? Nothing here holds a candle to my spin blades though...
As nightfall comes the crew hides amongst the expensive objects. Then Spinnah senses a change in the winds.
Spinnah: They're here. They've arrived on a small boat.
Katalina: Really? That suits us well. I didn't expect they would arrive the same day as us.
Katalina: But how exactly do you know they're here?
Spinnah: My spin blade. When the thieves arrived, the blades moved ever so slightly due to the disturbance in the wind.
Spinnah: I can tell exactly how many people there are and what kind of boat they've come on based on the movements of the blades.
Vyrn: Say what? What can't you do with that thing?
Spinnah: This is beauty!
Vyrn: Yup... Still have no idea what you're saying...
Katalina: That's enough talk. Let's wait for our uninvited guests to arrive.
The thieves slip into the mansion, unaware of the horrors that await them.
Katalina: This is it. They've made their move.
Katalina: To arms!
Thief: Tch! Guards!
Make Their Heads Spin: Scene 3
The thieves make off with a piece of the collection, but Spinnah uses his spin blade to create a typhoon, cutting off their means of escape. Once the thieves have been captured, the collector recognizes the spin blade as a work of art, and he and Spinnah talk the night away together.
Thief: Crap! These kids aren't playing around!
The thieves find themselves overpowered by the crew. However...
Collector: Get them!
Katalina: What the—
Lyria: It's dangerous here! Please hide!
Collector: Shut your mouth! This is my mansion! Now get on with it! Capture them!
The thieves take this moment of reprieve to toss a round object against the floor.
Katalina: What is this smoke!
Thief: Let go of that, you old fart!
Collector: Tch! How dare you call me a fart! Do you know what I had to go through to get this?
The collector holds onto the thief's foot with all his strength.
Vyrn: This isn't pretty.
Thief: You think we're going home empty-handed? I'm taking this!
Collector: You will not defile my works of art!
Collector: Tch! Beautiful objects must be protected by those who understand their worth!
Thief: Shut it!
Lyria: Are you okay?
Vyrn: No! They stole the pot!
Katalina: After them! Quickly!
Spinnah: No. Don't take another step.
Before Katalina stands Spinnah, leisurely spinning his blade.
Katalina: If we don't stop them, then...
Vyrn: What are you doing! We gotta go after them!
Spinnah: No, we don't. Open the door and you'll see what I mean.
Katalina: What the!
Vyrn: What's going on! Where'd this storm come from? It was clear outside!
Spinnah: It's a typhoon. No small boat will be able to set sail in this weather.
Spinnah: They can't move very quickly either. If they drop that urn, their pillage will have been for nothing. I think I'll bring the typhoon a bit closer to the shore.
Vyrn: Spinnah! Did you cause that typhoon?
Spinnah: I'm not much interested in any of the things this collector cares for, but art is something I understand!
Spinnah: I can't only be interested in bringing back the lost art of the spin blade, I have to be willing to fight to protect the current stream of art as well.
Spinnah: All right. Now seems like a good time to get them.
Vyrn: Haha. Sure does!
The crew apprehends the stunned and confused thieves near the shore and returns to the mansion.
Katalina: Cough... Here is your urn.
Collector: Oh! Splendid.
Collector: I... must apologize for the way I was acting.
Collector: I'm sorry. I may have a knack when it comes to works of art, but I am a terrible judge of character.
Vyrn: Haha. You sure are! But as long as you're safe!
Collector: Thank you. And you there...
Spinnah: Hm? Me?
Collector: Yes. What was it you were spinning earlier? May I see it?
Spinnah: You may.
Collector: Hm... This is...
Collector: So... It spins... What an elegant shape. This is truly a work of art!
Spinnah: You understand? You see the beauty in my spin blade?
Collector: But of course I do! It is balanced with precise accuracy, and there is not a single ounce of wasted effort to be had! It is complete perfection!
Spinnah: Yes! Yes, it is!
Collector: Hahaha. Look at it spin! This pleasant feeling on the tip of my finger is divine! It's like I'm laying my hands on fine china.
Spinnah: I can't believe you understand how I feel! This is exactly what calms me.
Collector: It is calming! Look at these perfect circles it forms. The patterns created with each spin are beyond comparison. They exist within moments!
Spinnah: That's exactly what I've been saying! These spins represent ethereality in all its glory!
Vyrn: Uh... How long is this going to go on for?
Katalina: Sigh... I think I've figured it out... To see that as art requires a very peculiar mind.
Spinnah and the collector continue their conversation long after the storm clears and into the next day's dawn.
Spinnah and Philosophia dive into a dizzying dialogue on the beauty of rotation. Spinnah closes out the chat by asking Philosophia to help him popularize spin blades, and the lofty Harvin is hard put to hide her interest.
Spinnah: Hm? What's that?
Spinnah strolls along the deck of the Grandcypher on a quiet afternoon. That's when he notices a strange top floating in the air above.
Philosophia: Hmm... Saying that an island floats is perfectly reasonable, but no one would say that an island flies.
Philosophia: Conversely, when someone spots a bird, they would say it's flying not floating.
Philosophia: Therefore floating and flying are different actions. One cannot fly while floating, and vice versa.
Philosophia rides on her top, its spin matching the flow of her thoughts.
Spinnah: Sorry for interrupting you, but what are you riding on? It's got such a beautiful spin!
Philosophia: This here's Crypton. It's a top that spins in conjunction with my thoughts and feelings.
Spinnah: How about that? A top that spins the more you think. That's not something you see every day!
Philosophia: Yes, it's quite the curio. Watch.
Should floating be considered a type of flying, or is it the other way around?
Spinnah: (Amazing. Its revolutions accelerate the moment her thoughts pick up!)
Spinnah's eyes are alight with wonder as Crypton goes round and round.
Philosophia: Eureka. Flying is...
Philosophia: No, that's not right. Because floating is...
Philosophia: In order to understand flight, one must also understand buoyancy. However...
Spinnah: (How captivating. Despite how fast the top's going, the spindle remains stable, and the whir it makes is crystal clear!)
Spinnah: (Heh, my eyes implore me not to waste this moment—I hardly dare blink. I want to hear nothing but its hum—so much so that I resent even the pounding of my heart!)
Spinnah: Hahaha! Man, what an amazing spinsthetic! I've fallen under its hypnotic spell!
Philosophia: Huh? Spinsthetic?
Spinnah: That's right! Crypton's spinning motion is stunning! A level of perfection that is so rarely achieved!
Philosophia: Haha, I never expected to hear such compliments about the way Crypton spins. You're a funny fellow.
Spinnah's enthusiasm has piqued Philosophia's interest, and she slowly descends to the deck.
Philosophia: Allow me to ask you a question then. What is it that you find beautiful: Crypton or the motion of the spin?
Spinnah: I'm talking about the motion of course. Why do you think I used the word spinsthetic?
Philosophia: Ah, you sound confident about your answer.
Philosophia: But here's the thing. That beautiful spin was produced by Crypton; therefore isn't it Crypton that you find beautiful?
Spinnah: Sure, I never said Crypton wasn't beautiful! Nice colors, solid construction, good utility... Everything's great in and of itself.
Spinnah: But it's the spinning motion that ties together these disparate elements into one complete package.
Spinnah: Spinning has the power to refine fragments of beauty and make them, you know, perfect. Therefore spinning must be beauty itself!
Philosophia: Hmm... Then as a follow-up, why do you find things that spin beautiful?
Spinnah: Good question. Sure, as a humble artist I could tell you why I find it beautiful.
Spinnah: But all the words in the world couldn't explain the full breadth of beauty. That's what art's all about.
Philosophia: Um... Then what is your definition of beauty?
Spinnah: Beauty can be found in symmetry; it can also be found in irregularity. It has no singular shape; therefore it also has no precise definition.
Spinnah: But beauty clearly exists. Because when you feel your very soul being consumed by passion—that's when you know you're in the presence of beauty.
Philosophia: Huh. You don't seem fazed about anything I ask.
Realizing that Spinnah won't waver no matter what thought-provoking questions are thrown at him, Philosophia seems to lose interest and turns away.
Spinnah: Heh, your questions dig deep, don't they?
Spinnah: Seems like you really want to delve into the beauty of the spin. So I think I'll give you a present.
Spinnah slips a spin blade into Philosophia's hands.
Philosophia: What's this?
Spinnah: It's called a spin blade! As an artist, my aspiration is to spread their appeal to every island.
Spinnah: I'm hoping for the spin blade craze to catch fire and sweep across all corners of the sky.
Philosophia: Do you really think people are going to be enthralled by these little toys?
Spinnah: Hah, I'm pretty sure you're answering your own question right now.
Spinnah points to Philosophia's hand. Her fingers are eagerly manipulating the spin blade.
Philosophia: Huh? What am I doing? I didn't even notice my fingers were moving on their own...
Spinnah: Hahaha! How's that for enthrallment? It's like an uncontrollable impulse, am I right?
Philosophia: Erm, I wouldn't say that exactly. I just don't know how or when to stop, so I keep going and going...
Her words say no, but her fingers say yes, aching for one more flick of the spin blade.
The Harvin is disturbed by how quickly she's given in to the spin blade's temptations.
Philosophia: Ngh... Spin, spin, spin... Am I making it spin, or is its spin making me spin it?
Spinnah: That's pretty philosophical... I'd like to know the answer myself. Let's put our heads together for this one.
Spinnah takes out his own spin blade and gives it a whirl.
Only a duet of whooshes can be heard as the two stare at their hands in silent thought.
Philosophia: Mm... So to spin is to be caught in a loop of sorts. After one revolution, the spinner returns to its starting point, then that ending becomes a new beginning.
Spinnah: But, you know, spinning's also one of the easiest ways to accumulate energy. It's how you get storms and rotors—it's how we fly.
Philosophia: I see. So when one rotation ends, a new one begins. But this new rotation is more powerful than the last. Then is it safe to say that to spin is to evolve?
Spinnah: Hm. If that's true, you could claim that spinning represents the life cycle itself. You know, that may be why we instinctively get drawn in.
And so philosopher and artist muse over the magnificence of spinning. It may be a bit hard, however, for the average person to understand their enthusiasm.
Philosophia: Aha... What is spinning anyway?
Spinnah: Who knows exactly? The more I think about it, the more in awe I am of its depth.
Spinnah: (Wow, I've never met anyone who had such interesting things to say about the beauty of the spin.)
Spinnah: (She might be the one to help me achieve my aspirations...)
Spinnah stares at Philosophia, who continues to float in the air atop Crypton. Then, all at once, he comes to a conclusion.
Spinnah: So you remember what I was saying about my aspirations?
Philosophia: Huh? You mean how you want spin blades to become popular all across the skies?
Spinnah: Right. I'm just throwing this out there, but would you mind helping me make that dream come true?
Spinnah: You possess the very essence of spin. With the way you think and the way you ask pointed questions, you're a pro at opening people up to new perspectives.
Spinnah: If you could help me get the word out about how beautiful spinning is and how limitless its possibilities are... There's no doubt we'll brew up a storm!
Spinnah: Then once spin blades become the talk of the town, I'll show you how intense Spin Cup battles can be!
Philosophia: Hm... A spin blade craze, huh?
