A Promise is a Promise
The crew meets Yaia, an innocent Draph girl. She says her dad is seriously ill, so she wants to go find a rare herb to cure him. Her dad is opposed because he's worried about her safety, but the crew convinces him to let her go.
(Captain) and company are searching the woods for a monster they have been asked to hunt down.
They lose their way but happen to run into the monster anyway. After a prolonged battle, they emerge victorious.
Vyrn: Phew... That was quite a surprise, but I'm glad we managed to win!
Lyria: Yeah! You can always count on (Captain)! Now we should be in time for dinner!
???: Yay!
Vyrn: Hold it, you two. Have you forgotten we're still lost here?
Lyria: Right... Sorry... I'm just so hungry...
???: My tummy is all rumbly...
Vyrn: Hmm... We need to find our way out of these woods before nightfall, but which way should we go?
???: That way! Let's go!
Vyrn: Oh, you know the way? You're quite a clever one... Um...
Vyrn: Wait a minute! Just who are you anyway? And when did you start tagging along with us?
???: Just a little while ago! You looked like you were having fun!
Lyria: Haha... So you thought you'd come and keep us company? What's your name, little miss?
???: Um... That's a secret! You'll never guess that I'm called Yaia!
Lyria: Okay... let's try and guess... This is a tricky one. Could I have a hint, please?
Vyrn: You know... Call me crazy, but I'm thinking her name might be Yaia.
Yaia: Wow! How did you guess it so fast! You're so clever, Mr. Gecko!
Vyrn: I'm no lizard! Wait... Whaddya mean by gecko?
Yaia: Tee-hee! I'm no lizard either!
Lyria: Hee-hee! What a strange little girl.
The crew finds Yaia's house after leaving the forest and decides to take a break there.
Yaia: I'm home!
Vyrn: Huh? It's already past sunset, but nobody's home. Did your family go somewhere?
Yaia: They're right here, silly! Now what shall we eat? How about... Yaia's special fried rice?
Lyria: That sounds good! Are you going to make it all by yourself, Yaia?
Yaia: Yep! I'll show you what I can do! Right, Charley Horse?
Charley Horse: ...
Vyrn: Um... That's an interesting name...
Yaia: Yep! Pretty cute, right? My dad's always yelling that he has a charley horse.
Lyria: Hee-hee! Sounds like this is a fun place to live!
Vyrn: Haha! Yaia's a friendly one—I'll give her that! I wanna meet her dad too!
???: Hey! Get away from Yaia! There's nothing worth stealing in our house!
Vyrn: Yikes! Calm down, buddy! We're not thieves!
???: A lizard? Yaia, who are these... Cough! Cough!
Yaia: Dad! You mustn't push yourself!
Lyria: Huh? You're Yaia's dad?
Father: Yeah... And there's no need to worry. I just went to see a doctor... So you people really aren't thieves?
Yaia: Nope! And Vyrn's not a lizard either!
Father: Hmm... He must be a gecko then.
Vyrn: I'm not a lizard or a gecko! We're skyfarers! Yaia here guided us out of the woods!
Father: Skyfarers, eh? Well you don't really look the part, so I guess you're still beginners.
Vyrn: Seriously? We're seasoned pros! We've even beaten primal beasts!
Father: What? P-Primal beasts?
Yaia: Really? Are you really for real?
Yaia: Please take me with you!
Lyria: Huh? That's a bit sudden... Why do you want to come with us?
Yaia: Um... Dad here is sick, but there's this plant that can cure him.
Vyrn: But what's a plant that can cure sickness have to do with primal beasts?
Father: Well... it's a bit of an unusual sickness. I need a special plant called a miracle herb.
Father: But I don't know where it grows. All I've heard about it is a rumor that it grows where a primal beast dwells.
Yaia: Please! Please! Pretty please! I want to find the plant!
Lyria: Okay! I'm sure we can work together to find it! Right, (Captain)?
- Of course!
- Can you behave yourself?
Choose: Of course!Yaia: Yay! We're going to make you all better, Dad!
Choose: Can you behave yourself?Yaia: Yep! I'm always well-behaved!
Continue 1Vyrn: Welcome to the crew, little lady! Pops, you can leave the plant to us!
Father: ...
Father: You don't need to do that. So long as I rest, I'm sure I'll get better somehow. Now Yaia, could you make some food for me?
Yaia: Huh? But... But...
Lyria: Excuse me, but can I ask why you don't want us to look for it? Yaia is worried about you...
Vyrn: Hmm... It doesn't seem like you'd get better just by resting... Do you just not trust us?
Father: No, I... Cough! Cough!
Yaia: Dad! Are you okay?
Father: I'm fine... I just need to rest... Now can you make me some porridge?
Yaia: Um... Okay.
(Captain) brings the porridge to the sick man's room in place of the worried Yaia.
Father: I'm sorry about earlier. It's just that I raised Yaia all by myself...
Father: I've worked hard every day to make sure she doesn't get lonely. That way her mother can rest in peace...
Father: But it seems I'm almost at my limit. Today the doctor told me that I should go stay in the infirmary.
Father: Heh-heh... And fate would have it that on the very same day you all turn up.
Father: Can you promise to make sure Yaia isn't lonely? Finding the miracle herb is secondary.
Father: Ugh... I'm sorry, but I need to lie down for a while...
The next day, once the crew's preparations are finished, Yaia and her father come to see them off.
Yaia: Thanks for staying with us! It was fun!
Yaia: You'll come again, right?
Lyria: Um... Yaia...
Vyrn: Hey, (Captain). Isn't there something we can do? The way things are going...
Father: ...
- We'll keep the promise.
- Leave Yaia to us!
Choose: We'll keep the promise.Father: Heh-heh... Okay then. I'm placing my trust in you, Captain!
Choose: Leave Yaia to us!Father: Heh-heh... Don't forget your promise. I'm trusting you, Captain!
Continue 2Yaia: Huh? What are you talking about? What promise?
Father: Haha. You're all ready to go on your big adventure, Yaia. I'm leaving the herb to you.
Yaia: Huh? Are you sure? But what about you?
Father: Haha! I'm going to rest at the doctor's infirmary until I get better, so just make sure you enjoy yourself out there!
Yaia: Yay! I'm going on an adventure! I'm going to find the herb for you, Dad! Just you wait and see!
Father: I know you will. Now make sure not to misbehave. You need to give the captain the same respect you would to me, okay?
Yaia: Hmm? The same respect... I give to you?
Yaia: Haha! So he's gonna be my new big brother! Yay!
Yaia: Haha! So she's gonna be my new big sister! Yay!
Lyria: Hee-hee! You can count on us!
Vyrn: That's right! Keep hanging in there, pops!
Yaia: Bye-bye! I'll be back soon!
Thus Yaia journeys forth, her little hand trembling with determination and uncertainty as it clings to (Captain)'s sleeve.
Learned to Disobey
Yaia works hard on the airship to try to please (Captain), but when she sees a little girl crying to (Captain) about her father being lost in the mountains, Yaia feels like the captain has been stolen from her. She responds by running off into the mountains alone.
Yaia: Cleaning, cleaning, putting things away! Cleaning, cleaning, having fun today! Tra-la-la...
Rackam: Well, aren't you the busy little bee? You're good at cleaning, aren't you?
Yaia: Yep! And I love it!
Yaia: Hey! Did you hear that, Big Brother? Racky praised me just now!
Yaia: Hey! Did you hear that, Big Sister? Racky praised me just now!
Rackam: Haha! I see you two are bonding quite well! But that's not my name!
Yaia: Ugh... So heavy...
Katalina: Can you manage? Maybe I should carry those cases after all. Why don't you take this one?
Yaia: I can manage! I want to work like a real grown-up! But maybe we can each carry half.
Katalina: Haha... Okay then. Are you going to help too, (Captain)? This one has all your things in it, so—
Yaia: No! I'll carry that one too!
Katalina: Haha! My bad! It's all up to you then.
Even though she's still so young, Yaia works hard to be recognized as a member of the crew.
But one day the crew goes to an island on a request to find a missing person, and something knocks her for a loop.
Girl: Sob... Can you really find him?
Lyria: Of course! You have nothing to worry about, okay?
Girl: Thank you...
Lyria: Tee-hee. She's fallen asleep in (Captain)'s lap. She must be worn out from all that crying.
Yaia: Big Brother! Let's follow up on that one rumor about the herb and...
Yaia: Big Sister! Let's follow up on that one rumor about the herb and...
Lyria: Shhh... Is everything okay, Yaia?
Yaia: Um... I...
Girl: ...
Yaia: Well... I... You see...
Yaia: Haha... It's nothing! See you later!
Lyria: Huh? Yaia?
Yaia: ...
Vyrn: Yo, Yaia! Have you seen (Captain) and the others?
Yaia: They're in that shop. There was a little girl crying...
Vyrn: Hmm... That must be the girl who gave us the job to look for her dad. He's gone missing in the mountains.
Yaia: A job? So her dad is probably still in the mountains?
Vyrn: That's right! But there will be lots of monsters, so let's go with everyone else!
Yaia: ...
Yaia: Humph!
Vyrn: Hey! Hold up! Where is she running off to? What's gotten into her today?
Lyria: Vyrn! What perfect timing. Have you seen Yaia? She's acting strange today.
Vyrn: I saw her, but she just ran off somewhere. Did something happen?
Lyria: Oh no! I hope she didn't run off into the mountains!
Vyrn: Say what! Why would she suddenly do something like that?
Lyria: I think she might be trying too hard to be a grown-up... but we can talk about that later! We need to go after her!
Yaia: ...
Vyrn: There you are! What are you doing out here all by yourself?
Lyria: I'm so glad we found you. You're not hurt or anything, are you?
Yaia: Um... Do you have some business with me? I'm just in the mood to climb this mountain.
Vyrn: Whoa! What's gotten into you all of a sudden? Is that attitude the result of you trying to act like a grown-up?
Lyria: Um... Yaia, the girl from before was the person who submitted the job request. As the captain, (Captain) was only trying to... you know...
Yaia: I know full well how busy our captain can be.
Vyrn: Looks like there's only one thing to do... We're here on the mountain now, so let's finish the job!
Yaia: Grr... Whatever! I can do it by myself!
Monster: Groar!
Yaia: Yikes!
Vyrn: Monsters! (Captain), Yaia's in danger!
Learned to Disobey: Scene 2
Yaia uses her intuition to locate the girl's missing father. She's praised by (Captain), which makes her feel better, and stands up to some monsters that appear.
With the monsters defeated and Yaia calmed down for the moment, the crew decides to look for the missing person.
Vyrn: Hmm... He doesn't seem to be around... Maybe we should head further up the mountain?
Lyria: Yeah. And with all the monsters lurking around, we should hurry!
Yaia: ...
Vyrn: Huh? What's up, Yaia? It's not a good time to be getting grumpy.
Yaia: This way!
Vyrn: Really? But there's nothing but bushes over there...
Man: Ugh... Who are you?
Lyria: Oh no! Some guy has collapsed over here! Hey... are you all right?
Man: I'm glad you guys are here. I was hiding because I hurt my back.
Vyrn: Well done finding him, Yaia! How did you know he was here?
Yaia: Hmm... There was this smell, sort of like the way Dad smells.
- You did it!
- Good effort!
Choose: You did it!Yaia: Yay! I got praised!
Choose: Good effort!Yaia: Yeah... I did the best I could!
Continue 1Man: Thanks, little girl! Come to think of it, I sure hope my daughter's okay. No one was at home to cook her breakfast today!
Monster: Groar!
Vyrn: Yikes! They sure know how to pick the right time to appear!
Yaia: I'm not moving! I have to make sure that girl gets to see her dad again!
Learned to Disobey: Scene 3
Yaia now tries even harder to please (Captain), and she stares suspiciously at the bitterly smiling Vyrn and company from her position at the captain's side.
The crew reunites the girl and her father. After a short rest, everyone returns to the airship.
Yaia: Sorry to keep you waiting! I made some more breakfast!
Vyrn: Hey now... How many plates of this stuff have you brought out now? You trying to fatten us up or something? I'm already full.
Lyria: Munch, munch.... Thish ish delishoush...
Yaia: Yay! Big Brother, here's yours!
Yaia: Yay! Big Sister, here's yours!
Rackam: Haha! You got yourself quite the portion there! Make sure to eat it all up, (Captain).
Katalina: Haha... Yaia seems to like you more than ever now, Captain.
Yaia: Huh? Hey... aren't you eating any? There's still tons left!
Yaia has returned to her smiley self and is working harder than ever to brighten up the crew's journey across the sky.
Yaia's First Errand
(Captain) has caught a cold and Yaia volunteers to go to town on her own to buy medicine for the captain. Concerned for her safety, Lyria and Vyrn decide to follow from a distance.
Lyria: A-are you okay, (Captain)?
Lyria calls out to the bedridden (Captain).
Lyria: Oh no... What do we do, Katalina? I don't know if—
Katalina: Don't fret, Lyria. It's only a cold.
Rackam: Just take it easy for the day, Captain. Wouldn't want your symptoms to get any worse.
(Captain) came down with a bad cold while stopping by a nearby town to restock supplies.
Yaia: Big Brother! Why don't we go ask about the herb togeth—
Yaia: Hm? Is everything okay, Big Brother? Your face is all pale.
Yaia: Big Sister! Why don't we go ask about the herbs togeth—
Yaia: Hm? Is everything okay, Big Sister? Your face is all pale.
Yaia: Do you have a fever too? Or is it just a cold?
A rising level of concern colors Yaia's face as she draws closer to (Captain).
- I'm okay.
Choose: I'm okay. With a strained smile, the captain tries to get up...
Only to collapse back onto the bed.
Rackam: Slow down there, (Captain). You need to take it easy.
Katalina: Rackam's right. You should stay well-rested today.
Yaia: What they said, Big Brother!
Yaia: What they said, Big Sister!
Yaia: You need to take your medicine and rest up when you have a cold!
Lyria: Yeah! Yaia knows what's best for you!
(Captain) nods apologetically at everyone's words.
Katalina: Which reminds me, have you taken your medicine yet, (Captain)?
Lyria: Actually, we just ran out of medicine... We really need to go buy some...
Yaia: I'll go!
Katalina: You?
Rackam: Whoa, you know how dangerous it is to go out there alone?
Yaia: I'll be fine! Leave it to Yaia!
Katalina: But...
Rackam: Yeah, I don't know about that...
Katalina and Rackam express their concern.
Katalina: That won't do. We can't have you going out alone.
Rackam: Can't afford the risk...
Yaia: But don't you two have something else to take care of today?
Yaia: You mentioned it yesterday.
Katalina: Yes, we do have other matters to handle... But that doesn't make it okay for you to go out alone.
Lyria: We'll go with Yaia then.
Katalina: Okay. Things should be fine if you two tag along.
Yaia: Nuh-uh, I have to go alone!
Lyria: Huh... But why?
Yaia: Someone has to keep (Captain) company or it'll feel very lonely here!
Yaia: Lyria, Vyrn, please stay by Big Brother's side, okay?
Yaia: Lyria, Vyrn, please stay by Big Sister's side, okay?
Lyria: B-but...
Yaia: It's okay! I can handle a simple errand!
Yaia: Off I go!
Yaia: Phew!
Vyrn: Whoa, hold it!
Katalina: Not so fast!
Lyria: Wait, Yaia!
Rackam: What do we do now?
- Go with her to make sure nothing happens!
- Tail her from a distance!
Choose: Go with her to make sure nothing happens!
Choose: Tail her from a distance!Vyrn: On it!
Lyria: Okay, we will!
Lyria and Vyrn follow after Yaia in a panic.
Katalina: Sigh... This worries me.
Rackam: Aye yai yai...
A murky expression clouds their faces.
Yaia's First Errand: Scene 2
Rackam joins Vyrn and Lyria as they tail Yaia. She's managed to get her hands on the medicine, but realizes she's lost her favorite toy, Charley Horse. She finds the toy in the clutches of a monster. That's when Katalina comes to the rescue.
Yaia: Hum-de-dum...
Yaia goes off to town alone for some cold medicine.
Lyria: ...
Vyrn: ...
Lyria and Vyrn, careful to keep their distance, follow Yaia from behind.
Lyria: Sigh... I really hope Yaia is going to be okay.
Vyrn: You worry too much. A walk to town and back is nothing to write home about.
Lyria: But...
Yaia: Tra-la-la...
Vyrn: We can talk later! She's on the move!
Lyria: Ah, right!
Yaia: Hm... Where was the medicine shop again?
Yaia: I think Katalina said...
Yaia: ...
Yaia: Mm, I forgot. What do we do, Charley Horse...
Yaia, holding onto Charley Horse tightly, gets teary-eyed.
Yaia: Sniff.... I have to get that medicine for Big Brother...
Yaia: Sniff.... I have to get that medicine for Big Sister...
Lyria: Erm, I'll let her know the way!
Vyrn: Guess we got no choice...
Vyrn: Hey, wait! Look.
Rackam: Whew, great weather today. I've got more than enough time to finish that job—might as well take a stroll through town!
A voice suddenly calls out from behind. Yaia turns around to find Rackam.
Yaia: Ah, Rackam!
Rackam: Oho! Talk about a coincidence! Whatcha doin' out here?
Yaia: Hey, hey, Rackam. Can you tell me the way to the medicine shop?
Rackam: Hm? Don't tell me you're lost?
Yaia: Erm... I... lost track of where I was. So tell me, pretty please?
Rackam: Sure thing! You're in luck, Yaia!
Yaia: What do you mean?
Rackam: I was just about to go buy some medicine myself! Might as well go together, right?
Yaia: Uh-uh, can you just tell me which way?
Yaia: I promised to buy medicine for Big Brother.
Yaia: I promised to buy medicine for Big Sister.
Rackam: Um, like I said, I'm going the same way you are...
Yaia: Huh? You're not going to tell me where it is?
Rackam: Sigh... Fine, you win.
Rackam very politely instructs Yaia on the directions to the pharmacy.
Yaia: Thank you, Rackam!
Rackam: Yeah, hope you make it this time.
Yaia: Okay! Buh-bye, Rackam!
Yaia: Tra-la-la...
Rackam: Worked out well enough, I guess...
Rackam continues in the direction Yaia rushed off to.
Vyrn: You're out here too, Rackam? Weren't you busy with stuff?
Rackam: I just... couldn't stop worrying about her, you know.
Lyria: Ahaha...
Rackam: Let's go after her. This'll all be wasted effort if we lose sight of Yaia.
Lyria: Right!
Vyrn: Too true!
Yaia: Um... I think it was this way.
Yaia: Ngh...
Yaia inadvertently steps in a ditch, causing her to trip and fall.
Yaia: Ow, that hurts...
Lyria: ...!
Yaia! Are you—
Vyrn: Shh! Quiet! You're gonna give us away!
Lyria: B-but...
Yaia: Lyria?
Yaia stands back up and surveys her surroundings.
Yaia: ...?
Probably just my imagination.
Yaia: Ah, I'd better get going for that medicine! La-di-doo...
Yaia gets back up and continues dashing toward the pharmacy.
Vyrn: Whew, that was a close one.
Lyria: Aah, I hope Yaia's not hurt too bad.
Rackam: She'll be fine. I mean, just look at her go. C'mon, keep up the pace.
Yaia: I found it!
Pharmacist: Welcome.
Yaia: Hello, I'm here for some medicine.
Yaia: Big Brother caught a cold, and...
Yaia: Big Sister caught a cold, and...
Pharmacist: So it's cold medicine you need, is it? I recommend this one.
Pharmacist: Have a safe trip home, miss!
Yaia: Mm-hm!
Yaia waves goodbye to the clerk and walks out the door.
Yaia: Ehehe, I managed to get some medicine. I hope Big Brother will be happy.
Yaia: Ehehe, I managed to get some medicine. I hope Big Sister will be happy.
Yaia: We should get back in a hurry, Charley Horse.
Yaia: Hm?
Yaia: Huh? Wait, where's...
Having come to the realization that Charley Horse is not by her side, Yaia begins searching in a panic.
Yaia: Mm... Charley Horse, come out, come out, wherever you are...
Yaia: Ah, maybe when I tripped...
Yaia: Gotta go find him!
Vyrn: Hm? Where's she off to in such a hurry?
Lyria: Wait, please! Yaia!
Rackam: Oi, hold up!
Yaia: Huff... Huff... It... should be... around here...
Yaia: Ah!
Yaia looks straight ahead to find a monster ready to snatch Charley Horse with its vicious jaws.
Yaia: Nooooo!
The monster turns to Yaia in surprise.
Yaia: Mngh... Please, Mr. Monster... Please don't eat Charley Horse...
Monsters: Graa-ooh!
Yaia: Eep!
Yaia quivers in fear at the monster's roar.
Yaia: I-I won't run away. Charley Horse is family to me.
Yaia: I'm going to save Charley Horse!
Monsters: Graa-ooh!
Seeing Yaia as its new prey, the monster bares its fangs and charges at the little girl.
Yaia: Eep... Big Brother!
Vyrn: Huff... Huff... Where'd she go?
Rackam: Pant... Wheeze... Keep looking!
Lyria: Hahh... Hahh... Okay...
Lyria: Ah, Yaia!
Lyria's gaze fixes on the monster as it gets ready to pounce on Yaia.
Rackam: Tch, I can't get a clean shot from this distance!
Lyria: Yaia, run!
Lyria and the others rush toward Yaia in a desperate panic.
A shadow flits by them in the next moment.
Lyria: Huh?
???: Haaah!
Monsters: Gragh...
Katalina: Phew... Made it just in time.
Yaia: K-Katalina?
Rackam: Huff... Puff... Geez were we a nervous wreck just now.
Lyria: Pant... Wheeze... Are you okay, Yaia?
Vyrn: Huff-huff... No injuries, I hope.
Yaia: Lyria, Rackam, and Vyrn?
Yaia: Hey, why is everyone here?
Lyria: Erm! Well, about that...
Monsters: Graa-ooh!
The monster who was knocked aside gets back up and charges at Yaia once again.
Rackam: Tsk, we can talk later! Here it comes!
Yaia's First Errand: Scene 3
When Yaia wonders why everyone has appeared before her, Katalina manages to fabricate a plausible enough story for the little girl. Yaia then brings the medicine back to (Captain) and says she'll take care of the captain.
After defeating the monster, Yaia picks up Charley Horse and holds it in a tight, loving embrace.
Yaia: Ahh, Charley Horse!
Lyria: Phew... I'm glad you're both okay.
Vyrn: Definitely!
Rackam: You have any idea how worried we were?
Katalina: Hehe... Be careful not to drop him from now on, okay, Yaia?
Yaia: Okay!
Rackam: All right, how 'bout we head back now?
Lyria: Yeah! (Captain) must be really worried about us! We should get back right away!
Yaia: Yeah, let's do that!
Yaia: How did everyone end up here though?
Yaia: Didn't you all have something to take care of? And who's watching over Big Brother?
Yaia: Didn't you all have something to take care of? And who's watching over Big Sister?
Lyria: Erm, well... We had to run a little errand out here too...
Yaia: All of you?
Lyria: Mm-hm! It's not like (Captain) asked us to come out here to make sure you're okay!
Vyrn: Hey!
Lyria: Yikes! Did I just—
Katalina: Sigh... Our assignment was to rid the town of the monster just now. And it's done.
Yaia: Ah, so that's what it was! Great job!
Katalina: Thank you.
Vyrn: Hey, Katalina. That story for real?
Katalina: Yes, monster clean-up was the mission. That's the truth.
Katalina: Except I was supposed to hear more about the job today before actually carrying it out.
Katalina glances at Yaia with a forced smile.
Vyrn: So that's what went down...
Yaia: Hm? Katalina, Vyrn, what's wrong?
Vyrn: Nah, it's nothin' for you to sweat about, Yaia.
Yaia: ...?
Rackam: More importantly, did you manage to pick up that medicine for (Captain)?
Yaia: Uh-huh!
Yaia: It's right here!
Yaia shows the cold medicine to the others.
Yaia: See? I can run errands too!
Katalina: Yes! You did great.
Yaia: Ehehe...
Yaia: Let's hurry back to Big Brother!
Yaia: He must be feeling so lonely with no one by his side!
Yaia: Let's hurry back to Big Sister!
Yaia: She must be feeling so lonely with no one by her side!
Lyria: Okay. How about we go back together?
Yaia: Yes, let's!
Yaia: I'm back, Big Brother! With the medicine of course!
- You're a lifesaver, Yaia.
- Did you enjoy your first errand?
Choose: You're a lifesaver, Yaia.Yaia: Ehehe... Big Brother just praised me!
Yaia: I'm back, Big Sister! With the medicine of course!
- You're a lifesaver, Yaia.
- Did you enjoy your first errand?
Choose: You're a lifesaver, Yaia.Yaia: Ehehe... Big Sister just praised me!
Choose: Did you enjoy your first errand?
Choose: Did you enjoy your first errand?Yaia: Well, for starters... It was really scary... And my heart was racing!
Yaia: But I had so much fun!
Continue 1Yaia: I'm going to make sure to take really good care of you now!
Yaia: So get well soon.
Yaia: Because seeing you up and about makes me happiest, Big Brother!
Yaia: I'm going to make sure to take really good care of you now!
Yaia: So get well soon.
Yaia: Because seeing you up and about makes me happiest, Big Sister!
A huge grin streaks across Yaia's face.
One look at her loving smile is all it takes for (Captain) to promise to get better soon.
Yaia and Me
Yaia finds a stray cat in a park. Just when she's about to take it back to the Grandcypher, the cat's parents appear. With the cat reunited with its family, (Captain) asks if Yaia misses her own. She answers that, with (Captain) and the crew around, it's not so bad.
The crew makes landfall near a busy town in hopes of gathering info about the miracle herb needed to cure Yaia's father.
Vyrn: Shucks, can't find word of it anywhere.
Yaia: Yeah, no one's heard of it...
Unfortunately they manage to glean only the smallest snippets of information regarding the herb.
Exhausted from a tour around town, the crew decides to take a break at a nearby park.
Yaia: Eek!
Lyria: ...!
Wh-what's wrong, Yaia?
Yaia: Nnn... I'm getting this really warm, fuzzy feeling around my feet...
(Captain) and company turn their gazes downward to find a kitten pushing its head against Yaia's foot in a circular rubbing motion.
Lyria: Ooh, a kitten!
Yaia: Ahaha! Stop it! That tickles!
Yaia holds up the kitten and gently pets it on the back.
Kitten: Meow.
Yaia: Teehee, I could almost get lost in your warmth and fuzziness!
Kitten: Meow!
Yaia: Hm? What's wrong?
Yaia: Aaah! Hey, no licking my face!
Kitten: Meow.
Yaia: Your tongue is all rough... I can't stand the tickles!
Vyrn: This kitty cat really warms up to people, eh? Look how relaxed it is around us.
Lyria: Teehee... That's for sure.
Yaia: Grr, that does it! You've made me angry, and now I'm going to cuddle you up like you've never been cuddled before!
Kitten: Meow.
Yaia doubles over with mirth as she frolics with the cat.
(Captain) and the others view the spectacle with sparkles in their eyes.
Lyria: Oh, it's getting late. Maybe we should get going soon?
Vyrn: Ah!
Vyrn: C'mon, Yaia! Time's a-wastin'!
Yaia: Oh... Okay!
Yaia returns to (Captain)'s side with the cat still in her arms.
Vyrn: Erm... Yaia? What do you plan on doing with that kitty-cat?
Yaia: Um, Big Brother... Is it okay if we keep the kitten on the airship?
Yaia: Um, Big Sister... Is it okay if we keep the kitten on the airship?
Yaia and the cat give (Captain) a pleading look.
- Sure.
- As long you'll take good care of her.
Choose: Sure.
Yaia: Really? Yaaay! Thank you, Big Brother!
Yaia: Really? Yaaay! Thank you, Big Sister!
Vyrn: Sigh... You're too easy on her, (Captain).
Lyria: Ahaha... This is great. Look how happy Yaia is.
Yaia: Hee hee. Lucky for us, Hernia.
Vyrn: H-hernia? Did you just call that cat Hernia?
Choose: As long you'll take good care of her.Yaia: Of course! I promise to take good care of Hernia!
(Captain) smiles at first, but then suddenly realizes something is awry.
Yaia: Thank you, Big Brother!
Yaia: Thank you, Big Sister!
Vyrn: Wait, is that cat's name supposed to be Hernia?
Continue 1Yaia: Mm-hm! Isn't it an adorable name?
Vyrn: Whoa, how'd you even come up with a name like that?
Yaia: Dad would always yell.
Yaia: "Ngh! Hernia's acting up again!"
Yaia: And that's that!
Lyria: Ahaha...
Hernia: Rgh!
Hernia leaps down from Yaia's arm in response and runs straight off.
Yaia: Wait, Hernia! Where are you going?
They give chase and come upon her snuggling up to two other cats.
Lyria: Could that be Hernia's parents?
Yaia: I think they might be...
Yaia: Really now, Hernia. You shouldn't just leave your parents' side like that!
Yaia: You can't imagine how worried that can make them!
Hernia: Meow.
Hernia purrs as if in apology before departing with her parents.
Yaia: ...
Yaia watches Hernia's every little movement.
Lyria: Umm... Yaia? Would you... like to return to your home?
Yaia: Huh? Why do you ask?
Lyria: Well, you've been away from your dad for so long, I thought you might be getting lonely...
Yaia: Nuh-uh. I'm not feeling lonely at all!
Yaia: Because I have Big Brother and all of you by my side!
Yaia: Because I have Big Sister and all of you by my side!
Yet Yaia's gaze remains fixed on the departing cat family.
(Captain) gently pats Yaia's head.
Yaia: Hm? Big Brother, what's the head pat for?
- You don't like it?
Choose: You don't like it?Yaia: I love it actually! Especially coming from you, Big Brother.
Yaia: It feels just like the head pats my dad used to give!
Yaia: Hm? Big Sister, what's the head pat for?
- You don't like it?
Choose: You don't like it?Yaia: I love it actually! Especially coming from you, Big Sister.
Yaia: It feels just like the head pats my dad used to give!
Continue 2The glowing appreciation on her face speaks volumes.
(Captain) vows deep down to never leave Yaia feeling lonely ever again.
Yaia and Me: Scene 2
One day (Captain) and company find themselves walking through an eerie forest. Yaia sees how afraid Lyria is and tries to comfort her despite being rather frightened herself. In the end she holds hands with (Captain) for comfort.
Having completed their assignments on this island, the crew traverse through the dense woodlands on their way back to the Grandcypher.
Lyria: Nnn...
The darkness of the area, brought on by the thick shrubbery blocking out the sun, makes it a difficult trek.
The misty fog pervading the environs doesn't make matters any simpler.
Lyria: Brr... What's this on my neck?
Vyrn: Probably just drops of water.
Lyria: Mm... Um, Yaia, let's hold hands!
Lyria latches onto Yaia's hand before she can even respond.
Yaia: Lyria, you're not scared, are you?
Lyria: Yikes... Erm, well...
Yaia: Yes, Lyria?
Lyria: I-it's true... I mean, it looks like ghosts could pop out at any second...
Yaia: We'll be fine. Because I'll be right beside you, Lyria!
Yaia: Ah, Lyria! Could you bend down a little?
Lyria: Huh? Um, okay.
Lyria: Like this?
Yaia: Yes! Here, Lyria, what a good girl you are!
Yaia gives Lyria a head pat.
Lyria: Erm... Yaia?
Yaia: Head pats always make things less spooky, don't you think?
Yaia: Dad used to give them to me all the time whenever I got scared!
Lyria: I'll admit your touch definitely eased the anxiety, but that was so embarrassing...
Vyrn: Bwahaha! Yaia could pass for Lyria's big sis at this rate!
Yaia: Oh, do I seem like a Big Sister now?
Vyrn: More than Lyria at least.
Lyria: Hey, I can't help it if creepy things creep me out!
Vyrn: You're not getting any of the willies, Yaia? I'd take you for a—
Yaia: With Big Brother and Charley Horse close by, I have nothing to be afraid of.
Yaia: With Big Sister and Charley Horse close by, I have nothing to be afraid of.
Despite her bold words, Yaia holds Charley Horse very tightly against her chest.
Vyrn: I hope I didn't spark any spooky vibes by asking that question. If I did—
Yaia: No! I'm not spooked at all!
Yaia: Aaah!
Lyria: Eeep!
Startled by the rusting of leaves, they let go of each other's hands and fling themselves at (Captain) in a sudden panic.
Lyria: Mng...
Yaia: Urgh...
Vyrn: Sigh... I'd say you were scared stiff just now.
Yaia: But, but...
- Would you feel better if we held hands?
- Relax. I'm here to make sure you're okay.
Choose: Would you feel better if we held hands?
Yaia: Yay. I get to hold hands with Big Brother...
Yaia: Yay. I get to hold hands with Big Sister...
Choose: Relax. I'm here to make sure you're okay.
Yaia: Big Brother. Is it okay if we hold hands?
Yaia: Big Sister. Is it okay if we hold hands?
Yaia: No?
(Captain) squeezes Yaia's hand tightly.
Continue 1Lyria: Um... (Captain)... Can you hold hands with me too?
Vyrn: Whoa now, we can't have both of (Captain)'s hands occupied now, can we?
Lyria: But I...
Vyrn: Hey, don't forget I've got your back too, Lyria. We're almost there anyway.
Lyria: Hrm... Thanks, Vyrn.
Lyria clutches Vyrn with both arms in a warm embrace.
Vyrn: Ack, Lyria! Cut that out! I ain't no teddy bear!
Lyria: But you said...
Vyrn concedes to the pleading look in Lyria's eyes.
Vyrn: Sigh... If it'll make you happy...
Lyria: It will, thanks.
Yaia: Eep!
Yaia: Mmn... Big Brother...
Yaia: Mmn... Big Sister...
Lyria: Yikes, what was that sound just now?
Vyrn: Guh... Probably just the wind. More importantly, Lyria... I can't breathe...
Lyria: Oh no! I'm so sorry.
Vyrn: Oh boy, I thought I was a goner for a second.
Yaia: Eaaagh!
Vyrn: You okay, Yaia? What's with the sudden squealing?
Yaia: Over there...
A frightened Yaia points ahead, directing the crew's attention to a seemingly endless number of hands poking out from the ground.
Lyria: Yi-yi-yikes!
Vyrn: Egh...
The monsters that those hands belong to crawl out of the ground and lurch toward the crew.
Yaia: Eaaagh!
Yaia trips and falls from the shock.
Lyria: Yaia! Are you okay?
Yaia: M-my feet won't move...
Vyrn: Bad timing! C'mon, (Captain)!
Yaia and Me: Scene 3
(Captain) and company return to the Grandcypher. Afraid of sleeping alone, Yaia asks if she can sleep in (Captain)'s room that night. The captain tucks her in, and she soon falls fast asleep.
After vanquishing the monsters, the crew returns to the Grandcypher, carrying Yaia by piggyback.
Vyrn: Phew, we ought to hit the hay soon, (Captain).
Vyrn and (Captain) prepare for a good night's rest.
Vyrn: Hm? Who could it be this late in the day?
(Captain) opens the door to find Yaia with Charley Horse snugly in her arms.
Vyrn: You still up at this hour?
Yaia: Erm, well...
Vyrn: Yeah?
- Lemme guess: you're afraid to sleep alone?
Choose: Lemme guess: you're afraid to sleep alone?Yaia: Mm-hm...
Yaia: Um, Big Brother... Is it okay if I sleep in your bed tonight?
The puppy dog look on her face is impossible to ignore.
- But of course!
Choose: But of course!Yaia: Yaay! Thanks, Big Brother!
Yaia: Um, Big Sister... Is it okay if I sleep in your bed tonight?
The puppy dog look on her face is impossible to ignore.
- But of course!
Choose: But of course!Yaia: Yaay! Thanks, Big Sister!
Continue 1Vyrn: Sigh... Fair enough. Ready to hit the sack, guys?
Yaia: Uh-huh.
They slip into the bed.
Yaia: Ehehe, I get to be with Big Brother!
Yaia: Ehehe, I get to be with Big Sister!
Vyrn: You look happier than a dragon with two magic wands.
Yaia: Teehee.
Yaia: Being with Big Brother reminds me of Dad.
Yaia: Being with Big Sister reminds me of Mom.
Yaia: Mmn...
Vyrn: Gettin' ready to count those sheep?
Yaia: Yawn... I'm feeling... sleepy...
Yaia: Good... night, Big Brother...
Yaia: Good... night, Big Sister...
Yaia: Zzz...
Vyrn: Whew, she went to dreamland pretty fast. Just goes to show how relaxed she is around you, (Captain).
Yaia: Mng... Zzz... Big Brother, together... Forever...
Yaia: Mng... Zzz... Big Sister, together... Forever...
(Captain) is all smiles at Yaia's words while gently petting her head.
Yaia: Nng... Ehehe...
Vyrn: We'd better get in our share of winks too. Nighty-night, (Captain).
They all let the drowsiness wash over them, welcoming a good night's rest.
Wassup, Little Boss!
Unaware that Vyrn was only joking about Yaia, Tyre begins treating her as a superior. When Yaia vanishes one night, Tyre tracks her to some nearby mountains, where she gives him some flowers to thank him for always being with her.
???: Hur-hnng! Hyaaah!
Tyre is once again excitedly swabbing the Grandcypher's deck this morning.
Vyrn: Phew... You really are a morning person, eh, Clefty?
Lyria: Hee-hee. Let's help him out with the cleaning!
Lyria and Vyrn grab a couple of rags hanging on a nearby bucket to help him, but he stops them.
Tyre: Whoa there! Hold it! Leave the deck swabbing to me! Chores are my job after all!
Lyria: But you should let us help once in a while. It's really too much for just one per—
Tyre: Don't be silly. As young as I am, it's only natural that I do some work! You guys head back to your rooms and kick back!
Vyrn: Heh-heh, thanks.
Well, Lyria, you heard Clefty. Let's just leave him to it!
As (Captain) and the others get ready to head back to their rooms as Tyre suggests, Yaia briskly walks on to the deck.
Yaia: Hey, Lyria! After we eat something, you wanna go shopping?
Lyria: Sure! We need to pick up some food after all.
Vyrn: Yeah, and we should go pick up some apples while we're at it!
Tyre: Excuse me, everyone...
Tyre stops what he's doing as he mutters the words, and he stares at Yaia.
Vyrn: Huh? What's up? You look like you've seen a ghost.
Tyre: Um... What's this little girl doing here?
Vyrn: Wha? Oh, did we forget to introduce her?
Lyria: I guess she could have been taking a nap at the time.
Vyrn: Well then, this girl's name is—
Yaia: Tee-hee! I'm Yaia!
Tyre: Hey! I'm Tyre. It's a pleasure to meet you!
Tyre grins broadly as he introduces himself. Vyrn looks at Tyre mischievously.
Vyrn: Heh-heh. You know, Yaia joined our crew first, so she actually has seniority over you!
Tyre: Oh? Y-you're absolutely right!
Yaia: Yay! I've got seniority over you, Tyre!
Tyre: (Regardless of how young she is, she's right when it comes to this crew! I'd better treat her accordingly!)
Tyre: Yes, ma'am! I look forward to the opportunity to learn everything I can from you!
Yaia: Ha-ha! I'll do my best!
Thus Tyre ends up viewing Yaia as his superior.
Yaia takes a liking to Tyre...
And the two are always together when they go shopping or cook. They gradually get to know each other better.
One day when Tyre is out shopping with Yaia, he suddenly stops in front of a flower shop.
Tyre: ...!
(What lovely flowers! They'd be just the thing for her!)
Tyre: Um... If you wouldn't mind, please take these flowers as a token of my esteem!
Vira: Hee-hee... Thank you, Tyre.
Tyre: Oh... I'm so... I'm so ridiculously happy right now!
Vira: Oh? What happened all of a sudden, Ty?
Tyre: Wow... I can't believe you just called me Ty! I really couldn't be happier!
Though lost in the joy of the moment, Tyre snaps out of his reverie when he feels Yaia tugging on his arm.
Tyre: Apologies, ma'am!
Yaia: What's the matter, Ty? Don't you know everyone will worry about us if we don't hurry back?
Tyre: Oh, you're right! Sorry for zoning out like that in front of you! Forgive me!
Yaia: Huh?
Later that night...
Yaia: All right... Time to go!
Yaia thinks of something while reading a book, and she bursts out of her room.
Meanwhile Tyre, who has promised to cook with her, is waiting for her in the ship's mess hall.
Tyre: Hmm... I wonder what's keeping Yaia. She's normally on time for stuff like this.
Concerned about his young friend, Tyre visits her room, but no one's there. He immediately starts walking around the ship in search of her.
Tyre: Oh dear... Where could she have gone?
Lyria: Oh? What's wrong, Tyre?
Tyre: It's Yaia... I promised to cook with her, but I can't find her anywhere.
Vyrn: Hmm... Then I guess it's possible that she left the ship for some reason.
Tyre: Oh no... But there are monsters around here at night! I need to go find her!
Vyrn: H-hey! Hold up!
Man, he already took off. We better split up and help him search!
Lyria: Come on, (Captain)!
Tyre: Huff... Huff... Yaia! Yaiaaa! Damn... She's not around here either.
The worried Tyre races through the streets, searching everywhere he can think of, but Yaia is nowhere to be found.
And then he remembers something that happened earlier that day.
Tyre: Oh, you're right! Sorry for zoning out like that in front of you! Forgive me!
Yaia: Huh?
Tyre: Come to think of it, I seem to recall Yaia staring at the flowers right then.
Something about what happened bothers him, and he turns and runs to the flower shop.
Tyre: Excuse me!
Flower Seller: Huh? Oh, you're the gentleman from earlier.
Tyre: Um... Did a little girl stop by here today?
Flower Seller: Yes, just a little while ago... She had a reference book with her, and she wanted to know where a certain flower in it is in bloom.
Tyre: Wha? A reference book?
Flower Seller: Yes. So I told her that the flower's in bloom in the mountains behind my shop.
Tyre: Thank you so much!
Armed with new knowledge, Tyre runs off towards the mountains behind the shop.
Tyre: Huff... Huff... Yaia! If you can hear me, say something! Yaia!
Tyre desperately hollers as he continues searching the mountains.
After what seems like an eternity, he at last finds Yaia happily picking flowers on the mountainside.
Though he's relieved to find her, he quickly puts on a stern expression and runs up to her.
Tyre: Huff... Huff... Yaia! I'm so glad you're safe!
Tyre: But I'd really appreciate it if you would please let me know in advance from now on when you plan on breaking an appointment!
Tyre: I was so worried when you suddenly disappeared!
Yaia: I'm sorry...
Tyre: Well, as long as you understand, everything's fine... I apologize for raising my voice like that!
Yaia: No biggie. More importantly... Here.
Yaia gently hands the flowers she just picked to Tyre.
Tyre: Huh? What are these for?
Yaia: Heh-heh... Well, you like flowers, don't you?
Yaia: So I used a reference book to pick out some flowers that would suit you.
Yaia: Ha-ha. Thanks for always being with me, Ty. Those are just a little reward.
Tyre: Oh... Oh, Yaia... Thank you so much!
Regardless of the gap in their age and the fact that the young Yaia has seniority over Tyre, the warm sense of camaraderie between them is real.
Their adventure on the mountain strengthens their relationship even more.
