Happy Birthday Cutscenes

1

Happy birthday!
Traveling with you has been kinda fun, you could say!
So I'll join in on the day's celebration! You'd better be glad!

2

Happy birthday!
Huh? Did I remember all by myself? Yeah, I guess I did... Ha-ha! You're surprised?
Well, important dates just tend to stick, you know? So why not celebrate?
Wait! I don't mean for me! Today's your birthday after all!

3

Happy birthday to you, (Captain).
Here it is. Another year. Sure has gone by fast!
You know, when I look back on this year, so much has changed. But I never really feel it until I get to milestones like these.
What changes, you ask? Let's see...
For example, you've grown really strong this past year, (Captain). I can see it.
Huh? You don't think so? Are you just being modest? Well, I'll fully vouch for it, so take a moment and be proud!
I mean, everyone here is celebrating you today because they see what I see and want to follow you wherever you go from here.
Ah, well, I won't harp on about it anymore. Let's just go all out at your party on this special day!

4

Happy birthday, (Captain). Ahaha. This is always so much fun.
I love these sorts of celebrations.
A hassle? No, not at all. It's a blast just getting together and messing around with everyone.
So there's no need for you to hesitate. We're doing this because we like it.
It's really amazing if you think about it. In a way, you're everyone's favorite person, (Captain).
Ahaha, you think I'm giving you too much credit? Well, consider that part of your birthday present.
Here's to many more fun times ahead, (Captain).

5

Hey, it's a full house again this year, huh, (Captain)?
Hm? Have you gotten a little buffer? Your shoulders and arms just look really toned.
I guess you're bound to put on a little muscle after all these years of adventuring. Lemme get a little squeeze—
Hey, where're you going? Don't be such a baby!
Are you being bashful?
Vaseraga! Grab (Captain) for me!
Hahaha! Come back here! I need to make sure those guns have their safeties on!

Happy New Year Cutscenes

1

What'd you say? You wanna use my spear to send up fireworks for the new year?
Don't be stupid! You can't use my spear like that... Not that it wouldn't be fun to watch though...

2

Huh? You wanna do that again this year? Well... all right.
Stand back! Here it goes!
Spear of Arvess! Show us your power as we celebrate the new year! Resolute Blast!
I'll admit that special attack looked pretty cool, but I'll be in hot water if we don't cut it out now. You can count on it...

3

Ahhh... The new year is finally here. But we had some pretty wild adventures last year, huh?
Hm? You had some fun? Ha-ha! Way to look on the bright side, (Captain)!
Well, I guess my year wasn't so bad either...
I learned once again that I can always count on you to back me up in a pinch...
Ha-ha, don't make that face! Are you that surprised to hear that from me? I'm not stingy about giving kudos to those who deserve it.
Now then, I think it's about time we get this New Year's party started! Let's go, (Captain)!

4

Hrng...
H-Happy New Year, (Captain).
Me? Yeah, I'm completely bushed. We've had a lot going on at the Society. I'm actually so tired, I'm ready to go back to bed...
I don't think I can do this anymore without your help, (Captain). The situation at the Society gets worse every year...
Ah, sorry for grumbling during what's supposed to be a happy New Year. I don't usually show this side of myself to others.
...
Mng... Why can't every day be like today?
Yawn...

5

...
Oh, hey, (Captain). Happy New Year...
Y'know, I feel like it's been ages since I finished out the year peacefully.
Is everything really as quiet as it seems? No enemies stowed away onboard? Or maybe we're being lulled into a false sense of security so our enemies can pounce?
Ehh... Never mind. I'm just going to put all that outta my mind and chill. Just don't come crying to me if something does happen.
Let' em wipe us out if they want. I'm just gonna have a peaceful New Year's...
Hey, (Captain). Can I get a shoulder rub?
Ahhh, yes. That's the spot.

Valentine's Day Cutscenes

1

Look, I went and made some! Those Valentine's Day thingamajigs...
There's more to me than just fighting, you know!

2

Ah... I'm beat.
Oh, hey there, (Captain)!
Hm? What have I been up to? Well, it's Valentine's Day. I've been up early baking.
I'm telling you... it's a real pain! Doing this for another year in a row, and we've got even more crew members now!
All right! I think this'll do for the ribbon.
Here, go on and have a treat!

3

Sorry for the wait! I brought your Valentine's gift.
Hm? What is it? Curious about something?
Ah, that's right! I tried putting hearts all over it.
Huh? That's not my style at all, you say?
Humph... You're right. When you think about it, hearts aren't really my thing...
Hey, (Captain)! It's not that funny! Keep laughing and you won't get anything from me!
That's what I thought... Now, here! Go on and have a bite!

4

Sorry for the wait, (Captain). I made some this year too.
Ahaha. Once again I tried to branch out and went with an unfamiliar recipe.
Hahaha... Don't take that to mean I went wild with gummy bear chocolates or something though.
You want to know how I made them? I started with a sample chocolate and had an alchemist make a mold out of it. The rest was just pouring cocoa powder.
Making that first piece for the mold wasn't easy, nor was putting the final touches on the chocolates I took out of the mold.
Is it fun, you ask? Hm... Yeah, come to think of it, I kind of like it.
I guess there's lots of other things I could be into that I never really gave much thought to.

5

Hey, (Captain)! Happy Valentine's Day!
Sorry. I was pretty busy, so these are store-bought. I did splash out for 'em, though.
I mean, we've been through a lot, and I really owe you guys...
Next year, I'll really go all out making your gifts. If I can, that is.
Hopefully, things'll all be... settled... by this time next year.
Heh, sorry, (Captain). I get the feeling I'm gonna owe you another few pretty soon.

A gift for White Day? You're more thoughtful than I took you for!
So this is in return for my Valentine's gift... Well, I'll say thanks for now.
You see... I might not look it, but I'm pretty fussy about flavor! Haha!

2

Hm... I got a lot of White Day gifts this year. What to do...
Really? You've got a gift for me too? So you didn't forget after all! Good job!
Then I guess I'll open your gift first, (Captain)! Heheheh!

3

Oh? What's going on, (Captain)?
Ah, a thank-you gift for Valentine's? I see. Thanks! Let's see what's inside...
...
Ha-ha! Never mind me! I was just surprised to see my favorite sweets inside. I've never even told you before, right?
Actually, a lot of time has passed since I joined the crew. That's how you know what I like! Heh-heh!

4

Ah, repaying me for Valentine's? Thanks as always.
Hey, by the way...
Is there anyone you like? In a romantic way?
Ahaha, sorry for asking. Hey, quit it with that face.
I don't get to hear enough lovey-dovey talk in my life, so I was hoping you could indulge me.
I wouldn't care about the affairs of someone I don't know too well, but...
Believe me when I say that everyone of us is curious to know who you might have a crush on. So I thought I'd ask.
But I don't mean to pry though... I promise not to tell anyone else, so if you want to talk about it, I'm your girl.

5

Whoa! What's all this! Don't tell me this is all for one person!
What! It's for me? C'mon! I told you last month I couldn't go full-throttle for my Valentine's Day gift, and you turn around and do this?
Tch... That's exactly the reaction you wanted, isn't it? I can see it on your face! You brat...
Ahaha... You really got me, (Captain). Shows just how well you know me that you can tick me off this much.
Still... Thanks, (Captain). Work has been... kind of a lot, lately, but it's reassuring to know we're this tight.
Since you're such a sweetheart, you deserve a gentle pat on the head. Come on, bring it in.
I'll show you to mess with your elders!
And so Zeta delivers such a thorough hair-mussing that the crew refers to (Captain) as Captain Cockatiel for the rest of the week.

Rising Omen

In the aftermath of the battle with the moon's forces, Zeta and the other contractors allowed their seal weapons to be resealed for security reasons. Following a transmission from Raybury that hints at another potential moon invasion, Zeta is reunited with the Spear of Arvess and given a new battle suit, both of which have been modified by Isaac.

Raybury's Voice: Mayday, Mayday. Isaac, come in. Descendants of the moon, come in. Raybury here.
Raybury's Voice: If you are not Isaac, please convey the following to either him or Cassius.
Raybury's Voice: There is an update regarding the situation on the moon.
Raybury's Voice: Currently, the war here is not going well for the moondwellers.
Raybury's Voice: Not the war with skydwellers, to be clear. One against an enemy that appears from seemingly nowhere to attack the moon.
Raybury's Voice: With the loss of Omega-3 and necessity of various repairs, in particular to the disassembler, resources are spread thin.
Raybury's Voice: Which has allowed the enemy to build a nest uncomfortably close to Central Axis.
Raybury's Voice: Central Axis has shifted priority to supplementing their immediate military capabilities.
Raybury's Voice: Their plans include, quote, "the seizure and reactivation of fossildweller-possessed automagods."
Raybury's Voice: Basically, expect a visit from the moon looking for the seal weapons you have.
Raybury's Voice: At our current clearance levels, Yatima and I are unable to verify further specifics.
Raybury's Voice: Given the state of the moon, the chances of any kind of force with Diaspora's level of firepower advancing into the skies is near zero. However...
Raybury's Voice: I can assure you that some kind of survey unit will be dispatched soon. Advise taking all necessary precautions.
Raybury's Voice: This concludes my report. If there are any updates to the situation, I'll let you know.
Ilsa: There you are, Pupper.
Zeta: Ilsa, Ronan, and... Isaac?
Zeta joins a meeting organized by Ilsa. Stepping into one of the Society's hideaways, a look of mild surprise crosses her face as she scans the faces present.
Zeta: Woulda guessed at least Vaseraga or Eustace would be here too...
Ilsa: No, it is just you today, Zeta. Now take this.
Zeta: What's Arvess doing here!
Zeta: Uh, and what's this contraption bolted onto it?
Ilsa: It's a new seal that our unkempt engineer friend here developed.
Ilsa: That device ensures that Arvess is once again in a completely sealed state.
Zeta: Okay, so this is that resealing you mentioned.
Zeta: But then why are you giving Arvess back to me?
Zeta: I thought that the whole idea was to gather up all the seal weapons, make sure they were in fact sealed again, and then throw away the key.
Ronan: Yes, that was the original plan, but things have changed. Allow me to explain from the beginning.
This change of strategy within the Society was first discussed around two months prior.
The catalyst was a transmission that Isaac received from Raybury on the moon. He then shared the update with Ilsa and Ronan.
Ilsa: So there's potential for another moon invasion, one much sooner than the hundreds of years we thought we had?
Isaac: That's right. My buddy up there can't seem to access any specifics with regard to the scale of such an attack, but the danger is there.
Isaac: If the situation on the moon really is as bad as he says, they probably want as many automagods as they can get their hands on.
Isaac: I can imagine Central Axis would be willing to risk some amount of their forces to come take them.
Ronan: I see. Thank you for sharing this crucial update with us.
Ilsa: What's our next move, Ronan? I fear there's a good chance that the Foe or the Otherworlders have picked up on this transmission as well...
Ronan: We will act under that assumption, rest assured. We can't afford to let each seal weapon contractor deal with such threats on their own.
Ronan: The threat of our seal weapons falling into their hands is one more reason we must ensure that they are completely resealed, posthaste.
Ilsa: Understood.
Ilsa: Hey, Isaac. I'm going to need you to bump up the delivery date on that thing we asked you for.
Isaac: The sealing device, yes? I'll do everything I can to get it in your hands as soon as possible.
Isaac: Luckily, preparations have been going smoothly, and we are ready to move into phase one of development.
Ilsa: All right, good. Keep me updated. Now to call up them to come turn in their weapons...
Zeta: You already made us all turn in our weapons so they could get resealed, right?
Zeta: I figured you'd dig some secret pit to bury 'em in or whatever, but I guess not?
Zeta: And here I'd been thinking I'd never get hold Arvess like this again...
Ilsa: I didn't want to get your hopes up in case it didn't pan out, but the resealing process was only step one in the plan.
Ilsa: Fortunately, our whiz-kid engineer here has gotten us to step two.
Isaac: I would be blushing if we could take all the credit, but that is assuredly not the case.
Isaac: I couldn't have done it without tons of help from Mahira and Cassius, not to mention access to the vast Society archives.
Isaac points to the seal weapon in Zeta's hands.
Isaac: To put it simply, the device attached there is to prevent Arvess from awakening.
Isaac: I won't get too into the weeds here, but you can think of it as numbing the part that detects a trigger to awaken.
Isaac: It's also got an improved security system, requiring some pretty big-time clearances to remove. Details are hush-hush though.
Isaac: Even if it falls back into enemy hands, there's little to no worry of seeing it used as an automagod core.
Zeta: Well, that sounds amazing and all, but doesn't that mean Arvess is weaker now?
Zeta: I'm happy to have Arvess back of course, but are we gonna be able to fight moondwellers like that?
Isaac: No, not like that. Which is where another new function comes in.
Isaac: This allows for accessing the maximum output without regard to awakened status.
Isaac: Or in other words, Arvess is now nearly as strong as it was awakened, but all the time.
Zeta: What! You can just do that?
Isaac: Not easily—only thanks to all the data I got from the moon and the weapons' battle logs from your fights there.
Isaac: It's by no means perfect, and I'm hesitant to actually implement the device on all of the seal weapons just yet. Especially on the more temperamental ones.
Ilsa: For example, the exception-prone Grynoth and the automagod-leaning Embrasque are absolutely out of the question for now.
Ilsa: It also seems to function better on close-range weaponry, so considering all of our options, Arvess made for our best bet.
Zeta: ...
Ronan: The moondwellers are not the only threat that we're wary of.
Ronan: We have data suggesting the Foe and the Otherworlders are beginning to make some movements.
Ronan: I'm sure you're well aware that we'll need the power of the seal weapons to deal with such threats.
Ronan: So, Zeta... Are you willing to be our test subject in the name of securing the seal weapons?
Zeta: So what I'm gathering is that Arvess is the only weapon fit for deployment right now, yeah?
Ilsa: Correct, but I need you to be alert and to promptly report any abnormalities that you may encounter.
Zeta: Got it. Sure, I'll be your guinea pig then.
Zeta: I sure as hell know that Arvess is more than up for the challenge.
Zeta: Moon, Foe, Otherworld―whatever they are, we'll scorch their butts if they dare threaten these skies, just you wait!
Ilsa: Heh, well I admire the enthusiasm.
Ilsa: We're counting on the data that we receive from Arvess to eventually implement the same resealer on all of the weapons in our possession.
Ilsa: So good news, Pupper. You're getting deployed a whole helluva lot more often.
Isaac. If you would.
Isaac: Yeah, be right back.
Isaac scampers off toward a corner of the room and brings back a pile of fabrics.
Isaac: All righty, here you go. You'll find that it's well-tuned to Arvess's capabilities.
Zeta: What's this, some kind of battle suit?
Ilsa: Something like that, yeah. Go ahead and put it on first.
Ilsa: Not too shabby, Pupper.
Zeta: Thanks, uh... Can't say this feels all that different from what I was wearing before.
Isaac: Ahem... Testing, testing. This is a transceiver test. Can you hear me?
Zeta: Whoa, what the?
Zeta is startled by the sudden ringing out of a voice near her ears.
Zeta: Where the heck's your voice coming from? My shoulders? My collar?
Isaac: There appears to be no issue with the transceiver. Good.
Zeta: Wait, is there a transceiver attached to this thing?
Isaac: Bingo. One of the very same ones that the Society uses.
Isaac: The skydweller advantage lies in unity, after all. This should make combat situations more manageable.
Ilsa: We'll be distributing transceiver units to the other agents so that you can remain in constant communication. You can adjust the channels with the controls near your chest.
Ilsa: Just be sure to turn it off when you... stop to smell the flowers, yes?
Zeta: Yeah, yeah, whatever.
Isaac: The transceiver is not this suit's only new function. Part of the security system I mentioned before is built in as well.
Isaac: If Arvess ever becomes separated from you and the suit, then an additional security layer on the weapon will activate.
Isaac: I recommend that you use this suit in battle from now on. I think you'll come to appreciate its enhancements.
Isaac: I heard you're strict about needing fire resistance, so I was extra careful on that front.
Isaac: Oh and then there's the—
Zeta: Okay, I think I've got it already. I don't plan on letting you all down.
Zeta: I appreciate all the trust, not to mention all the effort spent on my behalf.
Zeta: I'll be sure to bring you back some exciting data, so just let me know what I gotta do first.
Zeta begins to gently caress her trusted partner, the spear Arvess.
Zeta: Welcome back, Arvess. I'll be counting on you.
No words of reply come from Arvess.
The familiar feel of it her hands, however, is all the encouragement Zeta needs to face whatever challenges may lie ahead.

Gearing Up

Zeta has become a main contact point for Ronan and Ilsa as the two leaders work to restructure remnants of the Society while monitoring enemy movements. She is testing out Arvess's new capabilities with Vaseraga and (Captain) when Ilsa asks them to exterminate a machine infestation at the seal weapon research facility.

Zeta asks (Captain) and company to join her in some training one day.
Zeta: Ha! You're open!
Vaseraga: It'll take more than that.
Zeta: Crap! My timing was off.
Vaseraga: It looks like you haven't gotten used to handling that new seal's added weight.
Zeta: You can tell? Yeah, I keep wanting to move based on the old center of balance instead.
Zeta: I need a break. Fancy a go at it afterwards, (Captain)?
Lyria: You did great, Zeta! Here's some water.
Zeta: Thanks, Lyria. And thanks again for coming out here on one of your days off.
Vyrn: We know just how hard you've been workin', Red. It's the least we could do.
Vyrn: But hey, is it really okay for all of us to be out here together?
Vyrn: Last time those Foe guys were after us, you were always saying that it was better to stay split up.
Zeta: Oh, well I don't think we've got to worry about them too much for the moment.
Vaseraga: Ronan mentioned that the Foe may very well have intercepted information about the latest developments, did he not?
Zeta: Ilsa was all like, "The Foe haven't given up, but they will likely need ample time to prepare their next move."
Zeta: "They might not move on you right away, but that doesn't mean that you should let your guard down."
Zeta: Something like that. So I think we're at least fine to come together for some training like this.
Lyria: Hopefully that means Ilsa and the others can breathe easy for a while. Thank goodness!
Vaseraga: I wouldn't count so much on that. There's plenty of things beside the Foe and the Otherworlders to deal with.
Vaseraga: I've heard that they've also been discussing ways to rebuild the Society with many of its former members.
Zeta: That, coupled with all the research they're doing on new sealing devices and battle suits...
Zeta: It's no wonder Ilsa was carrying those big bags around under her eyes.
Lyria: Oh no, that's too bad...
Zeta: With that in mind, you should all consider me your first point of contact for Society business.
Zeta: If there's ever any kind of emergency situation or whatever, just reach out to me. It'll let them focus on some other things.
Vyrn: That new suit of yours was whipped up by Isaac, right?
Vyrn: I heard its even got one of those fancy transceivers built right in.
Zeta: Curious about the suit, are you? Sure, I can spill a few beans.
Zeta: Although to be fair, I didn't really give him a chance to properly explain every last feature to me.
Lyria: Hehe, it sounds like you'll get a lot of use out of it!
Zeta: Mm-hm. Between the suit and, most importantly, getting Arvess back, I'm ready for anything the Foe or some moondweller might dish out.
Zeta: Let 'em bring their worst. I'll serve it right back at them!
Vaseraga: Fiery as ever, but don't go letting your guard down.
Vaseraga: Ilsa was right about that. And you haven't even gotten used to using Arvess in its new form yet.
Zeta: Urgh... D-don't worry, I've learned plenty from our sessions today.
Zeta: I'll be right back to my old self before you can say—
Ilsa: This is Ilsa. Can you hear me? Come in, Pupper.
Zeta: Ilsa!
Vaseraga: What's wrong? Has something happened?
Ilsa: Armored Chicken... And you're there too, (Captain)? Good. Listen up.
Ilsa: We've got a bit of an infestation problem near the seal weapon research facility. Those pesky bugs are swarming us once again.
Ilsa: Eustace and Hellcat are currently engaging, but the swarm's boss is sure to be a pain in the ass.
Ilsa: We don't have time to be wasting. Care to join us?
Zeta: Yep, we'll head out now.
Vyrn: Bugs? I guess she means those zippy little robot things? That's bad news!
Vaseraga: We could afford to ask Cassius for his help too. He should be with Isaac now, so I'll go let them know what's happening.
Zeta: Thanks. I'm heading out now.
Lyria: And we'll be following, right, (Captain)?
Vyrn: Sounds like they could use all the help they can get!
Zeta: Thanks, everyone. Let's get moving.
Zeta departs for the outbreak with (Captain), Vyrn, and Lyria, leaving Vaseraga behind to gather more assistance.

Gearing Up: Scene 2

When the crew arrive at the research facility, Eustace and Beatrix inform them that the drone swarm is being controlled by a larger drone that is impervious to conventional arms. Zeta concludes that only she and Arvess can take down this command unit and heads off alone. Beatrix warns Zeta that the swarm is hunting her and to wait for backup. Not wanting the others to needlessly endanger themselves, Zeta brushes off Beatrix, intent on ending the fighting by herself.

(Captain) and the accompanying crew members arrive at the island that houses the Society's seal weapon facility.
They follow the smoke to find Beatrix and Eustace engaged in combat with a swarm of insect-like drones.
Insect-Like Drone: ...!
Zeta: Hragh!
Insect-Like Drone: ...!
Beatrix: Oh hey, Zeta! You're savin' our behinds here.
Zeta: You know it. What's the current situation?
Eustace: Ilsa's forces are guarding the main facility premises.
Eustace: We should have no problem fighting off the swarm with the numbers we have out here, but there's something else to worry about.
Eustace: A large drone with command capabilities remains well out of our reach, both location-wise and ability-wise.
Eustace: There is no way that we'd be able to damage it with our current weapons. It's plated with armor similar to that of an automagod's.
Zeta: Which means it's mine to spank. Got it. Where's it hiding?
Beatrix: There's some city's ruins just beyond here. All these blasted gnats seem to be swarming over from there, so I bet it's made itself cozy down below or something.
Zeta: Okay. I'll leave the swarm to you guys, then. See you on the other side!
Beatrix: Wait, Zeta! Is your transceiver on?
Beatrix: I'll be over there in no time if you need a hand, so don't go charging in feeling like you gotta do it alone!
Zeta: Yep, it's on all right. Stay sharp yourself, Bea!
Zeta: (Captain), I'm off to find the boss. Can you stay here to help them swat these suckers?
Zeta: Plus, the more people available to help cover the facility if needed, the better, right?
Vyrn: Yeah, leave it to us!
Zeta: Awesome. Then see ya!
Insect-Like Drone: ...!
Zeta: The gnats are out in force today... Not that they're gonna be anything but fuel for our fire!
Zeta: Let's get to burning, Arvess!
Insect-Like Drone: ...!
Faced with the overwhelming intensity of Arvess's flames, the drones seem to retreat, flying back deeper into the ruins.
Zeta: Don't think you're getting away from me!
Zeta follows the swarm to the deepest depths.
Zeta: So this is where the boss was hiding, huh?
Large Drone: Atgert dounf.
The winding tunnels end, and Zeta emerges into a large inner chamber. An enormous drone lies in wait to greet her.
The swarm takes advantage of the dead end to surround the contractor from behind.
Zeta: Hmph, you think you've trapped me or something?
Zeta: I'm not one to be cowed by something like that!
Large Drone: Anititigni utlsasa odem.
Large Drone: Ihnulcang nocctreed cattka.
Insect-Like Drone: ...!
Zeta: Now who's looking to get swatted?
As drones flood into the chamber, Zeta takes up a battle stance with Arvess at the ready—but then is interrupted by a voice.
Beatrix: Zeta! The whole swarm that we were fighting took off suddenly for the ruins!
Zeta: Bea?
Beatrix: Eustace is saying that we should head your way. Where are you?
Zeta: Oh yeah?
Zeta: (Eustace said it himself though. Ms. Big here is plated with armor as strong as an automagod's...)
Zeta: (I can't let them put themselves in any unnecessary danger...)
Zeta: I'm fine here. You all should head for Ilsa's position.
Beatrix: Huh? Didn't you hear me? Every single one of those things is headed your way!
Zeta: Yeah, and I'll be fine. Don't worry.
Beatrix: Wait up! I have a really bad feeling about the way you phrased that! Hey, Zeta—
Zeta: Time to shut this thing off for a bit. I'll apologize to Bea later.
Zeta: Hopefully not too much later... Heat's on, Arvess!
Zeta lets out a mighty shout as she cuts through the thickening swarm.
Large Drone: Atgert phacproagni.
Insect-Like Drone: ...!
Zeta: That the best you can do?
Zeta: Got you!
Zeta scorches the swarm of smaller drones and moves in to strike the leader.
However...
Large Drone: On ademga.
Zeta: What the hell, not even a scratch?
Large Drone: Ihnulcang cattka.
Zeta: Shoot!
Zeta dodges a brutal attack from the large drone and deftly regains her footing.
Her expression, however, betrays a flash of worry.
Zeta: Just means I have to go in for another swat!
Insect-Like Drone: ...!
Zeta: These little bastards again...
Zeta: Hyaagh!
Zeta: And how about that!
Large Drone: Ihnulcang nocctreed cattka.
Zeta: She's replacing her little friends faster than I'd expected. Not that it makes any difference.
Zeta: We're gonna take down every last one of these pests, Arvess!
Rousing herself, Zeta tightens her grip on her trusty spear.
The swarm continues to grow, however, and is slowly but surely backing her into a corner.

Gearing Up: Scene 3

Zeta's attacks on the leader drone prove ineffective, and she's soon driven into a corner. Luckily, the crew locates Zeta thanks to her new suit's tracking system, and together they defeat the large drone. She apologizes for her rash, unilateral actions and promises to be more of a team player.

Zeta continues her assault on the large drone with Arvess, but to very little avail.
She finds herself gradually being cornered by the combined onslaught of the smaller drones and their leader.
Zeta: Huff... huff... Crap. Why isn't anything working?
Zeta: (I know I was able to pull off some beefier hits when I was training...)
Zeta: (Maybe it's a side effect of the resealing? Like now it's less effective against automagod armor?)
Zeta: That would majorly suck! But I have to think of something anyway...
Zeta: If I can't handle this here, then Bea and the others'll...
Insect-Like Drone: ...!
Zeta: We can't afford to fall to the likes of these pests!
Frustration creeping into her voice, Zeta delivers a powerful strike with Arvess that downs a large swath of bugs.
But just as she does...
Large Drone: Yenem odpetst.
Zeta: ...!
Shoot!
Large Drone: Ihnulcang cattka.
Zeta: Gah!
Large Drone: Thi.
The large drone's attack takes full advantage of Zeta's distraction, sending her flying into a crumbling wall.
Zeta: Ugh... Urgh...
Dizzied by the impact, she loses her footing and falls to a knee.
Large Drone: Yenem odpetst.
Methodically, the mechanical beast begins charging for a follow-up attack.
Zeta: Nice shot... Props for that one...
Zeta: (I gotta get back on my feet, or the next one will be the last...)
Still reeling from the pain, Zeta attempts to drag herself back up into a fighting position.
Just then, a crackle of static hits her ears from nearly zero distance.
Beatrix: —ta. Hey, Zeta!
Zeta: Huh?
Beatrix: Hey, can you hear me? Zeta!
Zeta: Bea?
Beatrix: Is that you? Am I finally through? Why the hell did you go and turn off your transceiver? I was worried sick!
Beatrix: I told you not to go charging in alone, didn't I?
Zeta: Haha, never thought I'd hear that line coming from you.
Beatrix: Oh shut it! Hold out for a little longer, okay? I'll be there soon.
Zeta: Will she really be able to find me all the way down here?
Large Drone: Ihnulcang cattka.
Zeta: Dammit, here we go again.
Insect-Like Drone: ...!
Isaac: All right! Now's your chance, cousin!
Cassius: Understood. I'll be commencing my attack now.
In a flash, the swarm of drones falls to the ground.
Cassius: Cleanup complete. Please begin the charge for another round of jamming.
Isaac: Sure thing, cousin. We should be good for quite a few more.
Isaac: Oh, but while we wait, would you mind lending a hand to Ducky down there?
Cassius: Yes, that would be the most logical course of action.
Cassius wards off the larger drone's attacks as he helps Zeta get back standing.
Zeta: I-Isaac and Cassius? How did you find me... And what the heck did you do to all those little guys?
Isaac: We've still got a fight ahead of us, so I'll keep this brief.
Isaac: Remember that vintage jamming tech we used to fight Yatima? This is an improved version of that.
Isaac: It's designed to only interfere with the drones' circuitry, so any deployed seal weapons should be safe.
Isaac: We didn't have much time to analyze one of the little guys that you downed before, but I'm glad it worked out!
Isaac: As for how we located you, well—
Large Drone: Droyemtelnep.
Beatrix: Finally made it! You're lookin' fine, Zeta!
Zeta: Bea! I never told any of you my location. Really, how did you find me?
Isaac: Oh, that's another one of the suit's features.
Isaac: Once the wearer sustains a certain amount of damage, it activates a tracking beacon.
Isaac: Letting their allies rush to the rescue, as demonstrated.
Eustace: Cut the chitchat. We're soon in for round two.
Eustace: Zeta, how are you feeling?
Zeta: Better. I should be able to fight, no problem.
Eustace: Understood. We'll handle the small flies. You focus on that behemoth.
Zeta: Right, about that...
Zeta: My hits so far haven't dented that thing. I'm not sure I can do this and keep you all safe...
Vaseraga: Come on now, that's the reason you didn't tell us where you were?
Vaseraga: Surely you remember just how many times we've gone on to beat the odds together.
Vaseraga: Whether Arvess can pierce that thing or not, you know no one here would leave you to fight alone.
Vaseraga: So don't. Trust us to cover your back, and you just keep your eyes on the prize.
Zeta: If I'm hearing that from you, I must've been in a way bigger slump than I thought.
Zeta: Okay then, let's do this! But after all that talk, you better save me if I mess it up!
Vaseraga: You can count on it.
Zeta: Great. Here we go, Arvess!
Eustace: Let's go, Beatrix. We'll carve out a path for her.
Beatrix: On it. Hyaaah!
Insect-Like Drone: ...
Vaseraga: It's me and you, (Captain). We'll cut them down and give them no chance to replenish their numbers.
Vaseraga: Ha!
(Captain): ...!
Insect-Like Drone: ...
Zeta: All clear... Now!
Zeta: Hraaagh!
Large Drone: Ademdga.
Zeta: Hell yeah, there we go!
Zeta: (Is Arvess more amped up or something? That can't be it...)
Zeta: (Wait, now I get it. I was so distracted by all those gnats earlier, I couldn't put my back into one big hit.)
Zeta: (That's why I wasn't getting the force I needed—emphasis on the past tense.)
Zeta: (Now everyone's got me covered! So now I've got the time to ready, aim... and fire!)
Zeta: Haaah!
Large Drone: Ademdga.
Zeta: Can't keep up anymore? Sorry, but guess what: too bad!
With the battle's momentum reversed, Zeta is able to pierce the drone's armor to reveal its mechanical innards.
Zeta: Spear of Arvess! Give form to my faith and become a piercing fang!
Large Drone: ...
A mighty strike accompanied by an incandescent flash—the large drone ceases all movement.
With their local command unit destroyed, the remaining drones take off into the sky.
Ilsa and Ronan confirm that all threats have either been eliminated or fled.
Ronan: Having given up much more easily than we expected, they now seem to be retreating to their home base.
Ronan: Combined with the fact they only brought one command unit, we can assume this was only a scouting mission. They'll be back at some point.
Zeta: Well, if they're dumb enough to do that, then I'll just scorch 'em all again.
Ilsa: I don't want to hear one more bark out of you, Pupper! You'll get a debriefing later, but I've got more than a few choice words for you first!
Ilsa: Now, fair, we did ask you to be a test subject.
Ilsa: But what Basin-brained moron told you to go get yourself killed doing it!
Zeta: I-Ilsa... See, the thing is...
Zeta: No, you're right. This one's on me. I'm sorry, everyone.
Eustace: ...
Ilsa: As long as you understand.
Ilsa: Were you able to extract all of the data we need, Ronan?
Ronan: Yes. The logs from this fight contained some excellent data.
Ronan: We now know the main sources of instability, which should speed up our efforts to implement the new sealing tech on the remaining weapons.
Beatrix: You serious? That means I gotta start planning a reunion party for Embrasque!
Beatrix: Just you wait, partner. We'll be back together soon!
Zeta: Glad to hear that for you, Bea. I'm looking forward to having you back out there with me.
Zeta: One-woman shows are tough, I've decided.
Vaseraga: It's good news for me as well.
Vaseraga: Without Grynoth's help, the job of keeping you from running off on your own is too much work for little old me.
Zeta: What! Come on!
Zeta: At least say something like "I'll always have your back, with or without Grynoth."
Vaseraga: That'll depend on whether you remember to trust it to me, first.
Zeta: Right, right, I won't forget next time. I'll protect the skies with my partners.
Zeta shifts her gaze from Vaseraga to Arvess.
As if responding to her emotions, the tip of the spear glints brilliantly.
