Center of Attention
Vira feels like someone is always watching her, and she soon learns that Lyria's power has resulted in the primal beast Luminiera becoming her personal servant. With the beast's blessing, Vira becomes an even more valuable ally to (Captain) and company.
Vira: ...?
Katalina: What is it, Vira? Why do you keep glancing behind you?
Vira: Oh. No, It's nothing. I just...
(Captain) and company proceed through a forest, having been tasked with a monster hunt by the Knickknack Shack.
But Vira has frequently been turning her head to look behind her, peering at the gaps between the trees.
Vira: It's just that... I somehow have the eerie feeling that someone is watching me.
Katalina: Watching you? Here in this forest?
Vira: No, it's not just in the forest.
Vira: Lately I've felt that way no matter where I go.
Vyrn: Whoa, spooky. But maybe you're just tired out or something?
Katalina: Vyrn has a point. I've had similar experiences in the past.
Katalina: Sometimes, when I'm alone in my room, I can almost swear I can feel eyes on me and hear ragged breathing.
Katalina: But now that I think about it, I'm usually exhausted at times like those.
Vira: Hee-hee... You do indeed have a tendency to overdo things, Katalina.
Vira: Which is why I've taken it upon myself to keep an especially close watch on you at times like those.
Katalina: Hm? Haha. I see. Thank you, Vira.
Katalina: You definitely have a knack for intervening on my behalf with uncanny timing.
Katalina: I almost get the feeling that you're monitoring my every move.
Vira: You're always on my mind, Katalina. Always.
Vyrn: Uhh, well, Katalina's thing aside...
Lyria: Vira, you were up pretty late again last night, weren't you?
Vira: Yes, I got a little too involved in working on my diary.
Vira: But I always stay up late like that. It's nothing.
Vira: So just trust me when I tell you that someone is definitely watching me.
Lyria: But who in the skies could it be?
Vira: I don't know... But they're good at what they do.
Vira: For someone to be able to follow me and keep their identity hidden is quite a trick.
Vyrn: Yeah, I bet you know more than most about stalking people, eh, Vira?
Vira: Hee-hee... What could you possibly mean by that? Do think carefully before you answer.
Vyrn: Oh... Um... Nothing. Forget it.
Vira: Hee-hee... You crack me up, Vyrn. Though I'm relieved that I seem to be getting through to you.
Vira: Still, what sort of creep would spy on somebody's private life?
Katalina: No kidding... Everyone has times when they want to take it easy and not have to worry about others watching them.
Katalina: Vira, if you feel like someone's watching you again in your room later, come see me.
Vira: Oh, Katalina. How awfully kind of you.
Vyrn: Sigh... I'm seriously starting to worry about Katalina...
Vira: Hee-hee... Vyrn, don't make me warn you again.
Vyrn: Eep!
Katalina: Hrmm? What exactly are you two talking about?
Katalina: You two seem so close all of a sudden... Vira, don't tell me you're trying to steal Vyrn away from m—
Vira: ...!
Katalina! Behind you!
Katalina: Wha?
Vira: Katalina!
Vira: Whew... Are you all right, Katalina?
Katalina: I think so... But what's with the new look, Vira?
Vira: Huh?
Vira: ...
Lyria: Um... Heh-heh...
Luminiera: ...
Having escaped from a sticky situation, (Captain) and company complete their mission and return to the Grandcypher.
Vira: So... let me make sure I've got this straight.
Vira: When Lyria absorbed Luminiera's power in Albion, the laws that once bound her to whoever is Lord Commander...
Vira: Were somehow changed to bind her to me personally, regardless of my no longer being Lord Commander.
Lyria: So it seems. Heh-heh.
Luminiera: ...
Vira: So the gaze I've been feeling is Luminiera's.
Vira: What exactly am I supposed to do about this?
Luminiera: ...
Vyrn: Well, since you have the power and all, why not just bring Luminiera with us on our journey.
Lyria: Yeah! It doesn't look like Luminiera wants to leave you anyway.
Vira: Maybe, but does she really have to be so touchy-feely with me?
Luminiera: ...
- You're a good match.
- She does look like she might get in the way.
Choose: You're a good match.Vira: Well, I did serve as the Lord Commander of Albion, even if it was only temporarily.
Vira: But that was a long time ago, and now...
Choose: She does look like she might get in the way.Vira: Exactly! I can hardly move with her wrapped around me like this.
Continue 1Katalina: Well... I think it'd be fine to bring her with us.
Katalina: The thought of facing the two of you in battle is indeed terrifying...
Katalina: But I'm sure she'll be a big help if she's on our side. She did just save my life after all.
Luminiera: ...
Vira: Hmm...
Vira: Well... If that's how you feel, I guess I don't really have a choice.
Vira: All right, Luminiera, will you serve me for a while as my sword and shield?
Luminiera: ...
Vira: Hee-hee. Well then, here's to a great partnership, Luminiera.
Vira smiles faintly at the merry Luminiera.
The power she wielded as the Lord Commander of Albion will surely aid the crew in its journey to Estalucia.
Liege of Albion
Vira and Katalina receive an invitation to the tournament that will determine the next Lord Commander of Albion. It's actually a team event, so the crew heads to Albion for the contest.
Katalina and Vira gasp in surprise when they receive a letter at the Knickknack Shack.
Katalina: This is...
Vira: So that's how it is...
Vyrn: What's with the weird faces, you two?
Vira: Say what you will about me, but how dare you say Katalina looks weird?
Katalina: Now, now, don't make a big deal of it.
Katalina: More importantly... Vira, you received the same thing?
Vira: I believe so... The details might differ, but the gist of it seems to be the same.
Lyria: You both received the same letter?
Katalina: Not so much a letter but an invitation. From Albion, the place where we learned swordsmanship.
The two have received invitations to a tournament that will decide the next Lord Commander to fill the now empty seat at Albion Citadel.
Vyrn: Huh? But I thought the Lord Commander was chosen from within Albion.
Vira: That's right, but it seems this time is different.
Katalina: They seem to be calling out to those trained in Albion as well as everyone else that has a connection to the place.
Katalina: What should we do? We could ignore this invitation, but...
Vira: Well... I personally think I have an obligation as the previous Lord Commander to at least show up.
Vira: How about just the two of us go to Albion?
Katalina: It seems it won't be necessary for us to go alone.
Katalina: This competition will be team based. We can all attend as a group. Us and the entire crew together.
Vira: Wha? B-but...
Vira: I would feel guilty about everyone taking the trouble to go to Albion with us.
Vira: It may be better if it was just us two.
- Let's all go together.
- Bye then.
Choose: Let's all go together.Katalina: Yes... This is a good opportunity. Why don't we go and test our abilities?
Vira: Tch.
Katalina: Huh? What is it, Vira?
Vira: Oh, nothing.
Choose: Bye then.Vira: Thank you, (Captain). Well then, let's start packing.
Vyrn: Hey! If we can all compete, I say we do it!
Vyrn: It'll be a good way to test our abilities, and we might be able to gather information with all those people there!
Katalina: Hmm... That's a good point.
Katalina: Albion academy graduates from all over the world will be gathering together. It should be an excellent opportunity to learn something.
Vira: Tch... The lizard should have kept his mouth shut.
Continue 1Lyria: So it's decided then! Let's head to Albion!
Monster: Grrr...
Vyrn: Oh boy... I forgot that Albion has monsters even inside the town.
Vira: Hee-hee... This brings back memories.
Vira: Now let's deal with them quickly and go get registered.
Liege of Albion: Scene 2
The crew goes to Albion Castle to register for the tournament and sees that the soldiers there still revere Vira as their Lord Commander. After making sure withdrawal from the tournament is possible, (Captain) and company enter the contest to test their abilities and liven things up.
(Captain) and company go to Albion Castle to register for the tournament that will determine the next Lord Commander of Albion.
Albion Soldier: Lady Vira? I didn't know you would grace us with your presence. Have you returned to become our Lord Commander again?
Vira: I shall do no such thing. I've no intention of ever leaving Katalina's side again.
Vira: I am only participating to test our crew's abilities and liven up the tournament.
Albion Soldier: I see...
Vira: Just to be clear, withdrawing from the tournament is allowed, correct?
Albion Soldier: Yes, except during the grand finals. There are actually many others competing only to test their skills after all.
Albion Soldier: Be that as it may, I'm sure the tournament will be lively indeed with you competing!
Vyrn: Wow, Vira, you're a more popular Lord Commander than I thought!
Vira: Well, I didn't want the position, but it's not like I'd ever neglect my duties.
Katalina: About that... I'm truly sorry.
Vira: Don't be silly, Katalina... It's water under the bridge.
Vira: No matter how we got here, I'm with you now... That's all that matters to me.
Albion Soldier: Ah... It seems that your first opponent has been decided.
Vira: Hee-hee... Well then, let's show the good citizens that the previous Lord Commander is back in town!
Liege of Albion: Scene 3
(Captain) and company accidentally end up in the grand finals as part of the Erste Imperial Army's scheme to take over Albion by winning the tournament. Vira joins forces with Luminiera to stop their plot and defend the land she loves.
Several days later, (Captain) and company are on their way from Albion Castle to a nearby inn after completing their matches for the day.
Vyrn: Hey! I'm starting to think we have what it takes to do well in this tournament!
Vira: Well, with me and Katalina on the team, how could you think otherwise?
Vira: And (Captain) is quite skilled as well.
Vira: ...?
Lyria: What's wrong, Vira?
Vira: Oh... It's probably nothing, but a chill just went down my spine.
Katalina: Well, we were in combat just a few moments ago. Perhaps you're still a bit high-strung.
Vira: Could be... I don't see any monsters around here at least.
Vira: In any case, I think it's time to withdraw and continue on our journey.
Vira: We wouldn't want to upset the crowd by getting too close to the finals and then withdrawing.
Katalina: Indeed. I think we've tested our abilities quite enough.
Albion Soldier: Lady Vira! H-have you heard of what happened?
Vira: Try to calm down. What's the matter?
Albion Soldier: Well, you see... Your crew has been moved up to the grand finals.
Katalina: What? But we intended to withdraw...
Katalina: Wait a second! Weren't there several more matches left until the finals?
Albion Soldier: We're confused as well... Competitors are apparently being injured outside of the castle and are withdrawing one by one.
Katalina: What?
Vira: So just who is our opponent for the finals?
Albion Soldier: Well, you see...
Vira: I never would have thought I'd see you here.
Imperial Soldier: Like we'd ever pass up a chance like this. All we gotta do is win this match and Albion is ours.
Imperial Soldier: And once an imperial is the Lord Commander, that'll never change!
Vira: I know they sent out invitations to anyone related to Albion, but I can't believe that included you.
Vira: And I suppose you guys are responsible for pulling the strings to get rid of the competition, right?
Imperial Soldier: Huh? I have no idea what you're talking about. It's not our fault if they went and got themselves injured.
Imperial Soldier: But thanks to them, we ended up here practically without fighting.
Imperial Soldier: We could use a bit of exercise in fact, so don't expect us to go easy on you!
Vira: You know, I honestly don't care about the Erste Empire trying to expand its territory...
Vira: But Albion is where my relationship with Katalina began.
Vira: These grounds are filled with our memories, our sweat, our blood. My tears.
Vira: I do apologize, but I just won't hand this place over to a bunch of depraved losers.
Imperial Soldier: Tsk, impudent girl. I don't care if you were the Lord Commander. I'll crush you right here!
Vira: Feel free to try, but know that you face more than just some nameless girl.
Vira: You will experience firsthand the power of I, Vira Lillie, and the guardian Luminiera!
Liege of Albion: Scene 4
Katalina and Vira crush the imperial soldiers, much to the delight of the crowd. The two then reminisce about their duel from six years before, and Katalina draws her sword in response to Vira's request for an all-out duel, but Vira says she was joking—nevertheless, she relishes Katalina's serious expression.
(Captain) and company defeat the imperial soldiers and thwart their plans.
The crowd explodes with applause.
Vira: My, my... Don't they even realize that Albion was in danger of being taken over?
Vyrn: Yeah, I always knew there was something off about the folks of this town.
Katalina: ...
Vira: Katalina? Is something the matter?
Katalina: Not really... I was just reminded of something.
Katalina: This atmosphere, this smell, this applause... It's all the same as six years ago.
Vira: Hee-hee... Yes, you're right.
Vira: Katalina. To tell you the truth, I do have one regret.
Katalina: Huh? What are you talking about all of a sudden?
Vira: Our match six years ago, when we battled for the position of Lord Commander... I once told you I had no regrets about our duel.
Vira: But... I left something out.
Vira: To be completely honest, I wanted to fight you without holding anything back...
Vira: Not as the Vira Lillie who regards you with such love and respect, but as a fellow knight.
Katalina: ...
Vira: And I also sometimes think that if I had beaten you down so convincingly that you were unable to recover...
Vira: Perhaps you never would have left my side.
Vira: What do you think? Would you like to duel the way we should have six years ago? Right here and right now?
Vyrn: H-hey... What are you—
Katalina: Vira... If that is your wish, I will oblige.
Vyrn: Hey! Katalina, not you too!
Lyria: Katalina?
Katalina: (Captain)... If something happens to me, take care of Lyria.
Katalina: ...
Vira: Heh-heh... Heh-heh-heh... It was only a joke, Katalina.
Katalina: A j-joke?
Vira: I could never fight you without holding back.
Vira: How could you even expect me to? You're my one weakness.
Katalina: Really?
Vira: That's right. Still, even though we didn't get to fight or anything...
Vira: The look in your eyes when you gripped your sword to face me... It gave me shivers...
Vyrn: Man... I can never quite tell what you're thinking, Vira!
Vira: Hee-hee... Well, all I ever think about is Katalina.
Thus another of Albion's trials comes to an end.
The next day (Captain) and company hear that another tournament will be held to decide the next Lord Commander.
(Captain)'s crew senses something deep within Vira's eyes but continues to journey alongside her.
Innocent Confusion
Vira and Luminiera help (Captain) and the others explore a cave, and Vira ends up sustaining a minor injury while protecting Lyria. Katalina tells Vira to take better care of herself, and then she faces off with some incoming monsters.
With Luminiera in tow, Vira continues traveling with (Captain) and the others.
They take on a request to explore a cave deep in a forest and are on their way there.
Vira: Katalina, right this way. Just so you know, I've gone ahead and cut down any trees that insects might have infested.
Katalina: Oh, thank you Vira. That's very kind of you.
Vira: Come now... There's no need to thank me.
Vira: It's my duty to remove anything that might disturb you.
Vira: Of course... That's not to say that I wouldn't enjoy hearing your adorable screams.
Vira: Um... But I suppose you wouldn't want the crew to hear you making such unladylike sounds...
Luminiera: ...
Katalina: Huh? Why'd you stop all of a sudden, Vira? Is something wrong?
Vira: No, it's nothing. Let's go, Katalina.
Vyrn: Well... Looks like Vira's in top form as usual.
Lyria: Yeah, but at least she seems to be having fun. Right, (Captain)?
- Crazy Vira is best Vira.
- I worry about her sometimes.
Choose: Crazy Vira is best Vira.Lyria: That's right! As long as everyone's feeling good, everything's fine!
Choose: I worry about her sometimes.Vyrn: I guess so... But Katalina doesn't seem to mind either way.
Continue 1Katalina: Hey, you two, what's going on back there? Why do you keep stopping?
Lyria: Hey, wait up! Let's go, Vyrn! You too, (Captain)!
(Captain) and the others run to catch up with Katalina and Vira, and they make their way toward the cave together.
Skyfarer 1: All right, there they go. We better get moving.
Skyfarer 2: Wait a minute... Are you sure she's the right one?
???: Yes... Don't be fooled by her looks. Be sure to stay on your guard.
Vira: What a dark and gloomy cave. There are clearly monsters inside.
Katalina: But it doesn't seem that deep, so we should be finished exploring in no time.
Vyrn: Hey, guys! Let's make this quick and get some grub. You're hungry too, right, Lyria? Huh? Lyria?
(Captain) and company look around and spot Lyria standing motionless in front of the cave.
Lyria: Uh...
Katalina: Lyria, are you okay?
Lyria: This cave is so scary. It looks like a ghost might fly right out of it.
Vira: Oh... Silly Lyria.
Vira rolls her eyes and laughs. She walks up to Lyria and takes her by the hand, but someone has other ideas.
Monster: Groar!
Lyria: Aahh!
Katalina: Lyria!
Vira: Tch!
Vira: ...!
Vira, who's the closest to Lyria, takes the blow aimed at her friend.
Vira: Ack... Luminiera!
Luminiera: ...!
She immediately summons Luminiera and counterattacks.
Vira: Hyaaah!
Monster: Grargh...
Vira: ...
Vira: Phew... Lyria, you're not hurt, are you?
Lyria: No, I'm fine, thanks to you... Vira... Vira! You're bleeding!
Vira: What? This? Oh, it's nothing but a scratch.
Vira begins wiping the blood from her wound.
Katalina: Are you two alright? Lyria? Vira?
Lyria: Katalina! I'm okay, but Vira, she's...
Vira: Hah-hah... Please do not be concerned. Just some minor scrapes here and there...
Katalina: But I am concerned!
Vira: ...!
Katalina: Uh, sorry, nevermind... Vira, are you sure those cuts aren't too deep?
Vira: Y-yes... And fortunately, Lyria seems to be completely unharmed...
Katalina: I'm not worried about her... The one I'm worried about is you, Vira.
Katalina: Of course I care about Lyria, but... I could never live without you either, Vira.
Vira: ...
Katalina: I owe you a debt of gratitude for protecting Lyria, but...
Katalina: Can you try to take better care of yourself?
Monster: Grrrr...
Vyrn: H-hey! That thing from before, there are more where that came from!
Katalina: That first one was nothing, but this will be different...
Katalina: I'll take care of them! Watch this, (Captain)!
Innocent Confusion: Scene 2
After Katalina shows concern for her, Vira begins acting strangely, unsure how to cope with her new feelings. Albion knights show up and demand that Vira return Luminiera, and then they set a crew on (Captain) and company when she refuses.
Vira: Hyaaah!
Monster: Grargh...
Vira: Phew...
Katalina: Vira!
Vira: ...!
Katalina...
Katalina: Was that the last of them?
Vira: Y-yes, I think so.
Katalina: I see. I guess you took care of most of them, didn't you?
Katalina: Thank you. Your swordsmanship was as impressive as ever.
Vira: N-no... It was the least I could do.
Vira runs out of Katalina's sight without another word.
Katalina: ...?
Vira: ...
Vira: Pant... Huff... Huff...
Vira: What's wrong with me?
Vira: (I can't even look her in the eye.)
Vira: (When I'm by her side, why does my heart ache so much?)
Vira: (It was never like this before...)
Katalina: Vira! Are you all right? You're looking a little flushed. Was it one of those monsters?
Vira: ...!
Vyrn: What the? Did you do something to upset her?
Katalina: No, I don't think so.
Vira: (No... This is wrong... All wrong! Why would I ever want to run away from my Katalina?)
Vira: (She was so worried about me, and she was so close, and...)
Vira: ...!
Rocked by indescribable emotions, Vira clutches her head.
Vira: (Calm down. Stop worrying so much.)
Vira: (It's not as if my feelings for Katalina have changed.)
Vira: (I want to know her more. I want to see her more. I want her all to myself.)
Vira: (Yet despite that... Despite all that...)
Vira: (Why would hearing what she said do this to me?)
Vira: (What in the sky is happening to me?)
Luminiera: ...
???: Well, well... Don't you look like a lovestruck little girl.
Vira: ...!
???: That's not very becoming of you... Lady Vira.
Vira: An albion soldier... What is the meaning of this?
Vira: I've already made it quite clear that I will not be returning to Albion.
Albion Soldier: Yes... And that, Lady Vira, is precisely why we have followed you here.
Albion Soldier: The primal beast you carry... Luminiera... Would you be so kind as to return her to us?
Luminiera: ...
Albion Soldier: She was never yours to begin with. She belongs to us, the people of Albion.
Albion Soldier: We don't know how you brought her here, but we'll request you return Albion's primal beast immediately.
Vira: ...
Luminiera: ...
Staring at Luminiera, Vira lets out a deep breath and focuses on her breathing.
Vira: It is just as you say. Luminiera belongs to the knights of Albion.
Luminiera: ...
Albion Soldier: Exactly. We appreciate your understanding, Lady Vira.
Albion Soldier: So if we could have Luminiera back now...
Vira: However, just as knights are sworn to protect their monarch, a monarch has a duty to protect her knights.
Vira: Luminiera left Albion of her own will and recognized me as her monarch.
Vira: Luminiera is my knight. She's my sword and shield, and she has dedicated herself to me.
Vira: And as her monarch, I must fulfill my responsibilities to her.
Albion Soldier: So you have no intention of returning her then?
Vira: As a man of Albion, I do believe you understand the importance of our relationship.
Albion Soldier: Yes, of course...
Albion Soldier: But what you said only holds true if Luminiera regards you as her monarch.
Luminiera: ...!
When Luminiera meets the man's gaze, she suddenly rushes to Vira as if trying to escape.
Albion Soldier: ...
Lyria: Hee-hee... Luminiera really likes you, doesn't she, Vira?
Vira: Lyria...
Luminiera: ...
Katalina: It might not be our place to speak, but...
Katalina: The answer here is clear. I'm very sorry, knights, but we must ask you to take your leave.
Albion Soldier: Perhaps there has been a misunderstanding. We didn't come here to determine who owns Luminiera.
Albion Soldier: We came to take her back, and we care not who she answers to!
Albion Soldier: Skyfarers! Time to earn your keep! Take back Luminiera by whatever means necessary!
Signaled by the knights, a crew emerges from the shadows.
Vyrn: Tch... All that apparently reasonable talk, but they planned to do this the hard way the whole time!
Vira: Well, I must say that they haven't really thought their plan through.
Vira: It'd take a lot more than this little force to threaten us.
Luminiera: ...! ...!
Vira: Now I will show you what you're up against... I will show you the power of the Astral Knights!
Innocent Confusion: Scene 3
After (Captain) and company defeat the enemy crew, the knights unleash a clone of Luminiera on them. Vira says that a sword is only as good as its master and faces them once more.
After getting rid of the enemy crew, (Captain) and company approach the men from Albion.
Vira: Well then, would you be so kind as to leave now?
Albion Soldier: Ugh...
Albion Soldier: I didn't want to do this, but it seems we have no choice if we want to reclaim the real Luminiera.
Vyrn: Hey, he seems to have another trick up his sleeve.
Lyria: It's faint, but I can sense something like a primal beast.
Katalina: A primal beast? You mean Albion has another one?
Vira: No, Katalina. At least not as far as I know as former Lord Commander.
Albion Soldier: You're absolutely right. However, since Luminiera has been in Albion for so long...
Albion Soldier: Residue of her power is easy to get a hold of!
???: ...
Vira: Is that... Luminiera?
Albion Soldier: No, it's unfortunately only a clone.
Albion Soldier: We brought it to life by gathering any remnants of Luminiera's power from all over the city and putting it back together with magic.
Albion Soldier: It's not a true knight like the real Luminiera, but it's still as strong as a typical primal beast.
Katalina: I don't believe it.... To think such a thing was created in Albion.
Albion Soldier: Huh? Ah, I see now. You're a graduate of the academy too, huh?
Katalina: ...
Albion Soldier: It's truly shocking to me that a graduate would stand there and let that woman make a personal pet out of Luminiera.
Albion Soldier: You're a disgrace to Albion. All right, men, let's take care of Vira and her accomplices.
Vira: Pardon me, but would you mind cutting it out with the baseless bravado?
Albion Soldier: Excuse me?
Vira: Even if you did obtain the real Luminiera again, you could never wield her true power.
Vira: Her power only shines through when she's used as a sword and shield.
Vira: But a sword by itself is worthless. It has no power on its own.
Vira: Its might can only be unleashed by the hand of a trained warrior.
Albion Soldier: ...
Vira: And if you insist on threatening not only me but Katalina as well...
Vira: Then I'll eliminate you, ethics be damned.
Vira: Know that you face me at my most implacable. Consider yourselves warned.
Innocent Confusion: Scene 4
Vira destroys the clone of Luminiera, and the knights reach out to Katalina for help, but Vira responds by fusing more deeply with Luminiera. Though the knights flee, Vira's bond with the primal beast starts affecting her in ways unforeseeable.
Vira: Hyaaah!
???: ...
Albion Soldier: Impossible...
The combined might of Vira and the true Luminiera is enough to swiftly obliterate the clone.
Vira presses her sword against the knight's neck and coldly gives her final warning.
Vira: Now please be on your way. I have no intention of taking your life.
Albion Soldier: You!
Albion Soldier: Hey, you! You went to the academy, didn't you?
Katalina: Yes... I did, but...
Albion Soldier: Luminiera must remain in Albion where she belongs. Don't you agree?
Albion Soldier: Help us! Get her back for us, and I can promise that you'll be richly rewarded.
Vira: ...
Albion Soldier: Eep!
Vira swings her blade down, grazing the knight's helmet.
Vira: As Luminiera's master, if you come after me, I will gladly fight you as many times as you wish.
Vira: But if you try to bring Katalina into this...
Vira: Be prepared to face the consequences.
Albion Soldier: Aahh!
Vyrn: Wow... He sure left in a hurry.
Katalina: Yes, but... what is that you're wearing, Vira?
Vira: Oh... Katalina... What do you think? Does this armor look good on me?
Katalina: Um... Sure.
Lyria: Luminiera responded to your emotions, didn't she?
Vira: Hee-hee... Yes, it would seem so. And we've become more powerful than ever before.
Vira: ...!
Vira: ...
Vira: What was that?
Luminiera: ...
Katalina: Vira?
With the will to protect those dearest to her, Vira has obtained greater power.
But as her bond with Luminiera grows deeper, it begins to affect her in ways unforeseen.
Regrets and Desires
Ever since their mission in the cave, Vira has been unable to approach Katalina in the same way. Vira's deeper fusion with Luminiera has caused her feelings for Katalina to erupt, but her newfound power draws monsters to the ship.
Vira: Sigh...
Having finished the cave-exploration mission, the crew is heading back to report.
Vira stands all alone on the ship, away from Katalina. She sighs deeply as she gazes up at the sky.
Vira: (Ever since then...)
Vira: (Ever since we went exploring in that cave, something within me has changed.)
Vira: (Watching Katalina's every movement just doesn't satisfy me anymore.)
Vira: (And yet my heart beats harder than ever whenever I see her.)
Vira: (I want to be with her so much, yet I feel compelled to run when she's near. Oh, the agony of it all.)
Vira: (What is it that I seek?)
Luminiera: ...
Vira: Luminiera...
Vira: (Which reminds me... When the appearance of my Luminiera form changed that time...)
Vira: (My heart beat more strongly than ever for Katalina, almost as if Luminiera was resonating with me.)
Vira: Could it be?
Luminiera: ...
Vira: Luminiera, do you actually know how this feels? This emotion...
Luminiera: ...
Vira: Luminiera...
Vira reaches out to the primal beast. Luminiera responds by intertwining around Vira's arms, enveloping her in light.
Vira: Mmm...
Vira: (The pounding in my chest... And as Luminiera resonates with my emotions, my affection for Katalina really does grow.)
Vira: (But that's not all...)
Vira: Ngh!
Vira: (What am I seeing? And it feels like someone else's emotions are rushing into me.)
Vira: Ugh!
Vira: (Is this regret? But whose?)
Vyrn: Hey, get up! What're you doing?
Vira: ...?
Vira looks up and finds herself surrounded by monsters on the deck of the airship.
Monster: Grrr...
Lyria: I can only guess that the monsters are attracted to Luminiera's power.
Katalina: Vira, stay put! I'm coming to help!
Vira: Katalina...
Vira: Hee-hee... That won't be necessary, Katalina.
Vira: Monsters of the sky can amass by the thousands or even the millions, but they'll never reach the stars.
Vira: The denizens of the sky must be taught that even reaching for the stars is a grave sin.
Katalina: Vira?
Vyrn: Um... Does she seem a bit off to anyone else?
Vira: Hee-hee... Ha-ha-ha! Try as you will, it always ends the same!
Vira: I'll teach you lowly sky crawlers the folly of taking up arms against the stars!
Regrets and Desires: Scene 2
Vira's fusion with Luminiera affects her so profoundly that Lyria senses only primal beast energy from her. Vira rampages and prepares to attack the crew, but Katalina stops her, causing her to unleash her emotions on the monsters before her.
Vira: Hee-hee... Ha-ha-ha!
Monster: Uargh...
Vyrn: She's laughing and fighting at the same time...
Katalina: Well actually, Vira always did have that side of her...
Katalina: But something does seem off about her...
Lyria: I can feel the essence of a primal beast within her...
Vyrn: Well, that's only natural considering she's in her Luminiera form right now...
Lyria: Except... I sense nothing but primal beast.
Lyria: It's almost as if... she's turned into a primal beast herself...
Katalina: What!
Vira does not merely drive off the swarm of monsters. She cuts down every last one.
But even after the fight, she keeps her sword raised and surveys her surroundings with eyes devoid of emotion.
Vira: Hee-hee... Ha-ha-ha!
Ah...
Vira: One flock after another, waiting to be slaughtered.
Vira: ...
Vira: I must finish them all off. That is the true mission of the Astrals. And I have to do it for her as well.
Vira: Oh? More skydwellers, I see.
Vira staggers toward (Captain) and company.
Katalina: Vira! Wake up! What's wrong with you?
Vira: Wake up? That's my line.
Vira: You're just another contingent of the sky forces. Why show such concern for me, an enemy?
Vyrn: An enemy? What are you saying?
Vira: If that's some new way to beg for your life, you'd best come up with something better.
Vira: But then again... I suppose you guys won't get another chance to beg!
Vira raises her sword at the puzzled crew.
Katalina: Vira!
Vira: ...!
Vira: Ugh... Argh!
Lyria: Vira, are you okay?
Vira moans in pain as she crouches down and clutches her head.
Vira: Katalina... What was I doing?
Katalina: Vira! Thank goodness you've recovered!
Vira: Huff... Huff... Forgive me, Katalina. For raising my sword against you.
Katalina: It's all right. More importantly, what happened to you? How did this all come about?
Monsters: Groar!
Vyrn: Oh no, the monsters are swarming again!
Vira: Hee-hee... Just perfect.
Katalina: Vira, don't overdo it! Fall back!
Vira: No... No, Katalina. I feel incredible right now.
Vira: The power surges within my body, growing fuller from limb to limb.
Vira: I must do something about this intense passion building up within me.
Vira: If you refuse to let me take on these monsters...
Vira: Will you offer me the release I crave, Katalina?
Katalina: Um...
Vira: I'm getting so hot that I can't help myself...
Vira: So let me unleash my passion... through this sword!
Regrets and Desires: Scene 3
Vira loses consciousness as a result of fusing with Luminiera and dreams of the War and the beast's former master, who also had romantic feelings for a superior. As Vira relives that person's regrets, she battles monsters sent by the skydwellers.
Vira: Huff... Huff...
Thanks in part to Vira, the crew eliminates another swarm of monsters.
Katalina: Vira... You really don't seem like yourself. I suggest you get some rest at once.
Katalina: Can you walk? Please lean on me if you need to.
Katalina takes Vira by the hand and peers at her face.
Vira: Oh... Katalina...
Katalina: Vira? Vira! Pull yourself together! Vira!
Vira: ...?
Vira: Huff... Huff... Where am I?
Vira looks around and sees soldiers collapsed on a vast expanse of grassland.
Vira: (There are so many... It's as if we're in the middle of a war.)
Shadows loom on the horizon. Vira looks toward the sky to find giant primal beasts.
???: ...
???: ...
???: …
Vira: (Are those... primal beasts?)
The primal beasts fly over her and head towards a crowd in the distance.
???: ...
???: ...
A huge burst of flames explodes through the crowd, causing people to fall left and right.
Vira: (The primal beasts are fighting? An entire legion of them waging war with people?)
The battle unfolding before Vira closely resembles a war she once learned about.
Vira: (The War... The conflict between the Astrals controlling the primal beasts and the skydwellers who hoped to take back their world.)
Vira: (Is that what I'm looking at? But the War ended centuries ago.)
Vira: (Impossible... How could I be here?)
Vira glances at her own two hands and sees that she's still in Luminiera form.
Vira: (Is this a dream?)
Vira: (What I'm seeing here seems to be a memory of Luminiera herself.)
Vira: (Or perhaps I'm experiencing the memories of one who once formed a pact with Luminiera.)
Vira: (Maybe strengthening my bond with Luminiera has caused this blending of memories and consciousness...)
Just as she grasps the situation at hand, a familiar voice calls out behind her.
???: My knight...
Vira: ...!
Katalina!
Vira: (Impossible... What's she doing here in the midst of the War?)
???: Huh? Can you hear me, astral knight?
Vira: Yes...
???: I see that you were counting the comrades we've lost.
Vira: Huh?
???: The situation does indeed grow worse with each passing hour.
???: But even so, as your commander, I cannot order you to pull back.
???: Your ability to use Luminiera's power as your own makes you invaluable on the front lines.
???: I know it's tough, but I need you to hold out a bit longer.
Vira: ...
Vira: (This memory must belong to Luminiera's previous master.)
Vira: (But I'm seeing it as my dream, which is why people like Katalina are showing up.)
Vira: (Still, this rush of excitement that fills my chest...)
Vira: (It's the same feeling I get when thinking about Katalina.)
Vira: (Could it be that the keeper of these memories bore similar feelings towards a commanding officer?)
Hydra: Groar!
???: Tch... Looks like they've brought out the big monsters.
???: The other primal beasts can't maneuver well enough for this. Can I count on you, my astral knight?
Vira: ...
Vira: (Two emotions stir within me...)
Vira: (One is pure infatuation. My heart desires to spend every possible second with her.)
Vira: (I can't bear to be away from her, not on this carnage-filled battlefield.)
Vira: (The other is the desire to wield my strength for her.)
Vira: (Nothing else matters. I'm ready to sacrifice everything for you, my dear.)
???: I can count on you, right?
Vira: Of course. My sword exists solely to serve you.
Vira: This child's play the sky rabble throws at us stands no chance against the might of Luminiera!
Regrets and Desires: Scene 4
As the dream continues, Vira strikes down the monsters, but her superior ends up sustaining a fatal blow. Vira awakens in tears and decides that Luminiera showed her that memory to prevent her from ever experiencing the same thing with Katalina.
Hydra: Grargh...
Vira: Huff.. Huff... Is that the end of it?
Catching her breath, Vira looks at her sword.
Vira: (Each time I swing my sword and look death in the eye, my feelings for her grow stronger.)
Vira: (And my fear grows stronger as well. My fear of losing her and never again being by her side...)
Vira: I can't hold it back any longer.
Having made up her mind, Vira runs towards her one and only with a restless heart.
A tragic sight awaits her. She returns to find the main camp destroyed and her beloved collapsed in agony.
Vira: N-no...
???: Ugh...
Vira takes the hand of her suffering beloved.
Vira: Sob... Thank goodness you're still alive...
???: Not for long. You know, I came here hoping to live out the rest of my days in the sky.
???: Huff... Huff... But who could have imagined this war would break out?
???: Forgive me. You've always fulfilled your duties as my knight, but it seems I've failed you as a commander.
???: I... hereby relinquish command of the front lines to you.
Vira: No, wait! This can't be...
???: I'm sure you can handle it. The fate of the skies and stars is in your hands now.
Her strength exhausted, she slowly closes her eyes.
Vira cradles the body, only to find it as heavy and cold as if it had never been alive.
Vira: This isn't happening. I refuse to believe it.
Vira: No... Open your eyes! Please!
Vira: Sob... Please... Be with me just one last time.
Vira: Katalina...
Katalina: Vira! Thank goodness you're okay. Are you feeling better now?
Vira: Where are we?
Katalina: We're on the Grandcypher. You suddenly fainted on the deck.
Katalina wipes away Vira's tears, apparently surprised by them.
Katalina: Were you having a bad dream?
Vira: No... It's nothing, Katalina.
Vira looks around to find the primal beast Luminiera by her side.
Luminiera: ...
Vira: (Luminiera...)
Vira: (You showed me that dream, didn't you? In hopes that I'll never have to experience the same regret.)
Luminiera: ...
Vira steadies her breathing upon seeing Luminiera's slight nod.
Vira: Katalina, there's something I have to tell you.
Katalina: Huh? What's wrong? You're being awfully serious.
Vira: I... Katalina, I...
The girl delves into her own heart, reconfirming her feelings of affection.
She takes a step that everyone must take in their life, and with it grows even stronger.
