Happy Birthday Cutscenes

1

Oh, it's your birthday today? Have a good day.
Happy birthday.

2

Happy birthday.
That reminds me. There's this one guy that's always asking about my birthday.
The thing is, I don't know how to celebrate birthdays. Not other people's, not even my own.
But I do understand why he'd be asking about it.
Anyway, I'll be sure and help you celebrate your birthday.

3

So it's your birthday.
Ever since I was born... I've been met with nothing but disgust.
I didn't even know anyone celebrated the day they were born.
That's why cherishing your birth... makes my heart flutter...
I'm glad I met... you.
Have a good day...

4

I can't believe it's already been a year since your last birthday...
It's strange. Ever since I met you, time seems to pass so quickly.
Those loathsome days of my past feel like so long ago...
Heheh... But I suppose that's enough about me. Today is your special day.
I hope you will continue following the path that you believe in.

5

I'm glad we can celebrate your birthday again this year.
Although, I'm still not sure what the proper way to celebrate is.
Things like choosing the right present, or putting together a nice party... I'm sure there are many people who are better at these than me.
Still, I'd like to learn more about such etiquette... so I can celebrate your birthday better.
You deserve much happiness on this special day.
Happy birthday, (Captain).

Happy New Year Cutscenes

1

I've heard word that it is customary to drop champagne on New Year's...
What? You pop champagne? Madness!

2

Happy New Year.
How did you typically spend this time of year in your hometown?
I've never participated in a New Year's celebration before, you see.
Humph... I'm asking you to introduce me to your customs.

3

So you're saying... In your culture you visit temples and draw fortunes?
Last year, the New Year's celebration we had wasn't really for me...
What? This year we're doing something else? Staying home?
Well... If that's how you want to spend this day, I will accompany you.

4

(Captain)! W-what in the skies is this cake of rice?
Hm? I basically just said its name? What do you mean by that?
(What in the skies is (Captain) trying to communicate? Is this some sort of riddle?)
...
Hng... My mind's a blank!
I don't know the answer. This is no piece of cake, you know!
Hm? But it is a sort of cake, you say?
Your meaning is lost on me.
Let's try this again. I was simply trying to ask what the name of this white, chewy treat is.
N-no... you don't mean! This food is known as a rice cake?
Heh heh heh... Who would have thought the name would be quite so literal.

5

(Captain)... What is this package?
A New Year's gift? For me?
Wait a minute, (Captain). This is a bottle of champagne, isn't it?
Why would you give this to me?
Choose: You wanted to try popping it, right?
What!
I wanted no such thing... It was only proper that I gave you my full attention when you talked about popping champagne.
But, well...
Since you went out of your way to prepare this for me, I guess I shouldn't waste it.
Thank you for the gift.

Valentine's Day Cutscenes

1

Valentine's? What are you talking about?
You're giving me... chocolates? Is this part of one of your little schemes?
You want to show how much you appreciate me? In that case... I'll give you chocolates of my own in return!

2

Valentine's, eh...
I remember this. I received chocolates last year as a show of thanks.
...
...
Hey! Are you teasing me? D-don't you dare make fun of me!

3

Valentine's Day again... On the surface it's a day where we show appreciation.
But really, it's the day you go after your heart's desire. Or so I've heard from others on the ship...
Use this... It's a poison used in the Karm Clan.
Simply put it in chocolate, give it to whom you wish, and...
With just a small piece of this, death will come swiftly.
What! That isn't your heart's desire?

4

It's Valentine's, you say?
I don't seem to be able to wrap my head around the holiday...
So for that reason, I've decided to ignore it.
...
Oh, what is it?
Hm, is this chocolate you're giving me?
What is the meaning of this sweetmeat?
There's none in particular?
Ah, I'd guessed this was your way of saying thanks to me.

5

Ah, it's you.
I was just thinking about what the chocolate from you this year could mean...
But it's made me even more confused.
Perhaps it'd be better if I didn't receive any at all in the first place...
What? You really don't plan to give me any?
Oh... Well, that's rather...
...
Hey! What are you laughing about?
S-so you are giving me some after all...
You're right. In the end, wracking my mind about it didn't do any good.
I guess I'll just enjoy this gift without thinking too much into it then.

1

I hear it's White Day today.
These candies are yours. They're infused with a secret medicine passed down through the Karm clan.
Heheh... How you use them are up to you.

2

Happy White Day.
...
Why won't you accept what I got you?
What do you mean, you already had those secret medicine candies I got you a year ago?

3

Take this.
I didn't think you wanted candy, so I prepared something else.
There is no need to worry. It's an ordinary item found in the Knickknack Shack. I haven't done anything to it.
I won't force you to take it if you don't want it...
...
Tch... If you're going to take it, do it already!

4

I'm paying back the debt I incurred on Valentine's Day... whether you gave me those chocolates from a place of gratitude, obligation, or whatever else.
You'd be alarmed if I gave you any sort of gift, wouldn't you?
That's why I'm letting you choose your own.
...
Well, come on. Let's get ready to head out.

5

Happy White Day. I was thinking we could go out and look for your gift together again.
So get ready. We'll head out to...
Hm? Why are you pulling at me like that?
Y-you want me to make something for you?
(Captain)...
V-very well. Then let's head to the kitchen.
I'm afraid I'm unaccustomed to making anything for other people to consume...
But I'll make sure it's something worthy to give to you as a token of my gratitude.

Trick or treat?
Hmm? Does that mean you wish to play a trick on me?
Bwahaha... Don't make me–Argh!
H-hey! Give me back my mask!

2

Happy Halloween.
So this is the day the souls of the dead come to visit.
If that's true then Karm must be packed with souls right about now.

3

Pant... Pant... Damn!
Ach! Stop!
I don't want candy! Stop! Keep your candy to yourself!
I-I said I don't want it!
These damn islanders... They think I'm wearing this mask as part of a costume...
...! (Captain), what are you laughing at!
What? If I take off my mask, then they'll leave me alone?
...! What should I do...

4

Tch. Why are you standing in my way, (Captain)?
I refuse to participate in Halloween. As I've said before, I've simply had enough of it.
This mask isn't part of a costume! How many times must I tell y—
H-hey... Give me... my mask back...
I-I'll give you candy, okay? J-just give it back...

5

...!
(Captain)...
I thought I was being careful to avoid getting involved with any Halloween nonsense...
Listen up, (Captain). I don't know what you're here for exactly, but I'm definitely not letting you get a hold of my mas—
Huh? What's with the wolf headdress?
I see... If I have this on, then nobody will be able to snatch away my mask. Not a bad idea, (Captain).
Well then, I'll just put it on and... Wait a second.
Didn't I just say I didn't want to get involved with Halloween? This doesn't help at all!

Seasons greetings.
Santa had better be careful when he comes to Karm this year.
No, I'm not bitter he didn't bring me any presents. Absolutely not...

2

So you decided to visit me on this holiday eve...
Humph... You really are needy, aren't you?
Unfortunately, I'm not particularly interested in celebrating the season.
I never was much for holiday celebrations, you see...

3

You don't learn, do you?
I've already told you I want no part in the festivities of this night.
Everyone is waiting for you. Go to your friends...
Ugh... Stop making that face. I don't care if you consider me a friend as well...

4

The snow fluttering down this holiday night... It glitters so brightly in the darkness...
Snicker... It's not so bad to relish the bleakness beneath a frigid sky.
...
Hm... Oh, it's you, (Captain). Need something from me?
N-no... I'm not feeling lonely! I was just giving myself over to the bleakness.
And I've told you I don't want any part in the festivities.
...
What is it? Don't you want to be with everyone else?
Heh heh... Ah, so you've been entranced by the snow.

5

(Captain), what's the matter?
I told you... I'm going to spend the holy night outside watching the snow.
You should go back inside. Everyone will be worried.
Hey, cut it out! Don't pull my mask like that! Just because you want me to come with you...
Don't you think you've been getting more and more pushy with me lately?
Okay, okay!
Damn it... Fine, I'm just going to be in the corner, you got that!

Encountering the Eternals I

Sierokarte sees off the crew after giving them advice on the next step to awakening the Six-Ruin Fist. A mysterious masked man watches curiously as it all happens.

With Sierokarte's help the party unlocks part of the Six-Ruin Fist's true power, inching ever closer to its awakening.
Vyrn: Whew, this whole awakening thing is hard work! Looks like we've still got a long way to go too!
Sierokarte: To awaken the weapon, you'll need to increase both its strength and the purity of its magic.
Sierokarte: It's slow work, but you've got to keep at it. I'm sure it'll be worth it!
After finishing up their errands at the shop, the party leaves, watched by a strange man.
???: Hmm...
???: I follow a presence resembling that man and... Just who are those people?
Sierokarte: Ah, that's a keen eye you have there.
Sierokarte: (Captain)'s crew of brave skyfarers is famous around these parts.
???: Skyfarers, huh.
???: (Will I ever purge all memory of that man?)
???: So... why do those skyfarers have that weapon? That golden glow is unmistakable.
???: They don't mean to awaken it, do they?
???: Consider my curiosity piqued. I'll be keeping a close watch on them to determine their true worth.
Sierokarte: Um, excuse me?
Sierokarte: I know you're deep in thought right now, but could you please remove your mask in the shop?
???: Huh?
Sierokarte: It makes you look a bit suspicious, and it might affect sales.
Sierokarte: If you don't remove it, I'm afraid I might have to do it for you...
Sierokarte: Eeyah!
???: Ah! S-stop that!
Sierokarte: Oh my... And here I was wondering who you might be.
???: G-g-give it back!
???: ...!
Sierokarte: Oh! He's gone... What a strange one he was. Anyway, please come again soon.

Encountering the Eternals II

When the crew notices a strange man watching them, Sierokarte explains that he is Seox, a member of the Eternals. Seox expresses great interest in the Six-Ruin Fist.

At the Knickknack Shack, Sierokarte assists the crew with preparations to awaken the Six-Ruin Fist.
Vyrn: Phew... It's taking us ages just to awaken this thing!
???: ...
Vyrn: Hey, hey... Knickknack... What's with that guy in the cloak and mask staring at us?
Sierokarte: Oh, him? He's Seox, a member of the Eternals.
Vyrn: The Eternals?
Sierokarte: That's right! I know he wears a strange mask, but he's not such a bad guy.
Vyrn: He seems crazy suspicious if you ask me... Who are these Eternals anyway?
Sierokarte: They're a legendary crew of ten warriors!
Sierokarte: It's said that each of them matches even the Seven Luminary Knights in strength. They're feared even by the bravest of skyfarers.
Vyrn: Wow... I never would've taken Masked Wonder for someone of such epic proportions!
Seox: The title of Eternal means nothing to me.
Vyrn: Yikes! Did he hear all that?
Seox: Tell me, skyfarers... Is that weapon you carry the Six-Ruin Fist?
Lyria: Um... What do you know about the Six-Ruin Fist?
Vyrn: Sorry, but this weapon's super–duper rare! There's no way we're letting go of it!
Seox: I care not for its scarcity.
Seox: What's drawn my curiosity is the fact that you've come so close to awakening a revenant weapon.
Lyria: Um, do you mean to say this is a revenant weapon?
Seox: Heheh... So you've come this far without even realizing what it truly is.
Seox: Ah, this brings back memories of that man.
Vyrn: Huh? That man?
Seox: Listen up, skyfarers. I've taken it upon myself to see if you are truly fit to wield that revenant weapon.
Sierokarte: Say, didn't I tell you to keep your mask off in the shop, Seox?
Seox: Huh?
Sierokarte: Remove it, or good ol' Siero here will pluck it off for you.
Seox: Don't push it, shopkeep... Last time you caught me off guard, but—
Sierokarte: Eeyah!
Seox: Aieee! S... s-stop it...
Seox: ...!
Vyrn: W-what was that all about?
What does this encounter with Seox of the Eternals mean for (Captain)?
Is he truly interested in testing (Captain)'s compatibility with the Six-Ruin Fist, or does he harbor ulterior motives?

Encountering the Eternals III

(Captain) and crew visit an island that is home to the Karm Clan, a family of assassins. When Sierokarte details the downfall of the Karm Clan, Seox appears and issues a challenge to (Captain).

Continuing their preparations to awaken the Six-Ruin Fist, the party visits a tourist destination frequented by visitors with unusual tastes.
The party heard a rumor in a general store that had been quietly set up in a quiet, remote area.
Vyrn: Hey, (Captain). Do you think there's any truth to the gossip about this island being home to the Karm Clan of assassins?
Sierokarte: Ahh... That's actually no mere rumor.
Sierokarte: The Karm Clan really existed you know.
Lyria: Existed? Um, does that mean...
Sierokarte: Yes. The Karm Clan took great pride in their fighting skills, which served them well in their assassination assignments.
Sierokarte: Many years ago they were completely wiped out. I get goose bumps just thinking about it!
Vyrn: What! A powerful clan like that gone kaput so easily... Who in the skies could've done that?
Sierokarte: Hmm, well... it's rumored that the clan was massacred by a young boy.
Sierokarte: A young boy who happened to be heir to the Karm Clan.
Lyria: That's awful... How could a single boy do such a thing?
Sierokarte: Mmm... I heard something about the boy's incredible physical ability causing a real stir in the clan...
Lyria: I wonder what happened to that boy afterwards...
Vyrn: That reminds me! Is there any chance he's still hiding out somewhere on this island?
Seox: ...
Vyrn: Ahh! Who's there?
Vyrn: Oh, I know that cloak and mask! You're that Eternal guy from before!
Seox: ...
Looks like your revenant weapon is pretty close to awakening.
Lyria: Hi, Seox! Um, by revenant weapon, do you mean the Six-Ruin Fist?
Seox: That's right. The Six-Ruin Fist is but one of the ten legendary revenant weapons.
Seox: It's said that they existed from the time of the War, or even earlier. They're strong enough to tear the heavens and pierce the stars.
Lyria: Wow... T-that's... amazing...
Seox: To think you were planning to awaken the weapon without knowing any of that...
Vyrn: Whoa, I never would've guessed it was such an incredible weapon. So that's why it's taking so much work!
Seox: The unflinching determination in your eyes despite now knowing all this impresses me.
Seox: You really do remind me of that man...
Vyrn: That man? You said something along those lines last time we met too.
Sierokarte: Seeeooox! Keep your mask off in the shop! Eeyah!
Seox: Wha! Ungh!
Seox: (We'll meet again when you've released the power in the Six-Ruin Fist...)
Seox: (And then you will show me your true power!)
Seox: ...
Vyrn: Huh?
Sierokarte: He said he'll be back to test (Captain)'s power after the Six-Ruin Fist is awakened.
Vyrn: Argh, that masked jerk just talking trash like that!
Seox leaves behind a disquieting message, making the crew wonder what the Six-Ruin Fist's awakening means to him.

Behind the Karm Dynasty

Following the awakening of the Six-Ruin Fist, (Captain) and crew visit Karm. Seox shows up and remarks on (Captain)'s resemblance to an old acquaintance before pouncing on the crew.

With the Six-Ruin Fist awakened, the crew visits the hamlet of Karm based on Sierokarte's directions.
Sierokarte: Welcome to Karm, everyone!
Sierokarte: Before you lie the ruins of what was once home to the clan of assassins renowned throughout the skies for exceptional combat ability!
Sierokarte: I knew for sure you'd come here.
Vyrn: All your chitchat about the Karm Clan got (Captain) curious about this place!
Vyrn: Creepy places like this give me the heebie-jeebies, but I guess (Captain) is all right with them!
Sierokarte: There's lots to see on this island, from training grounds to traps used by the Karm Clan!
Vyrn: That sure doesn't sound peaceful!
Sierokarte: Whatever the case, since you've come all the way out here, you may as well try to enjoy it.
Lyria: Hey, (Captain)... Could we be lost?
Vyrn: It's way too quiet out here... It creeps me out...
Sierokarte: This sure is strange. I've come to Karm many times before, but this is the first time I've gotten lost.
Sierokarte: It's almost like someone's leading us astray.
Seox: About time you came... I was getting tired of waiting!
Vyrn: Aaah!
Huh? You again!
Seox: Your unwavering resolve and determination led you to awaken the revenant weapon.
Seox: You really do remind me of that man—enough to evoke memories I thought I had repressed...
Vyrn: Who is this man you're so hung up on?
Seox: The time is ripe. I will now see if that power you wield truly has any worth!
Seox: Prepare yourself!
Vyrn: Uh-oh, not good! Masked Wonder's serious!
Seox: You ease up on me and you'll be dead before you know it! Come at me with everything you've got!
Seox: Kiieeei!

Behind the Karm Dynasty: Scene 2

After learning of Seox's past and the reason for his sudden attack, (Captain) invites him to join the crew.

Vyrn: You masked jerk! Why do you have it in for (Captain)?
Seox: Like I said, I needed to see your true power for myself.
Seox: I had to be certain you were qualified to wield a revenant weapon.
Vyrn: And now you've had a taste of (Captain)'s power! So what's the deal now?
Seox: Well, I suppose that was merely an excuse I spun... The way you carry yourself and the whole aura about you...
Seox: You are indeed just like that man who rescued me from my abyss of despair.
Seox: Perhaps I simply wanted you to restore peace to me like that man once did before.
Vyrn: Erm... You kinda lost me there, but I see you have your reasons!
Lyria: Um... If you don't mind, could you tell us more about that person?
Lyria: We might be able to help... I'm also curious about anyone who resembles (Captain)!
Seox reveals the truth about the rumors surrounding the Karm Clan and his destiny as its lone survivor.
As a young child, Seox mastered the combat skills that were the pride of his clan. His talents were eventually met with opposition within his own clan.
His ability even led him to be shunned by his father, the clan leader, who disowned him.
Filled with sadness and rage, Seox's powers led him on a rampage across the hamlet.
Vyrn: What! So you're that rumored survivor?
Seox: Survivor, eh? Freeing myself of the anguish only filled me with a miserable loneliness.
Seox: Nothing had changed... Just when I had given up on everything, that man appeared before me.
Seox: He was a skyfarer headed for the end of the skies. Coming by here may have just been a pit stop for him...
Seox: But the time I spent with him brought me peace.
Lyria: Wouldn't it be nice to meet him again, Seox?
  1. Does he have any other characteristics?
  2. Some more details would be nice.

Choose: Does he have any other characteristics?
Seox: He's told me nothing more than the fact that he's headed for the end of the skies.
Seox: Thus I keep coming back to this godforsaken land—to keep my memories of him alive.

Choose: Some more details would be nice.
Seox: Of course... I keep coming back to this godforsaken land—to keep my memories of him alive.
Continue 1
Vyrn: The end of the skies? That's perfect! Right, (Captain)?
Lyria: That's right! It must have been fate for us to come here!
Seox: What are you talking about?
  1. Let's go look for that skyfarer together!
  2. Let's let fate guide us through the skies!

Choose: Let's go look for that skyfarer together!
Seox: In spite of my horrific past, you're still willing to take me in?

Choose: Let's let fate guide us through the skies!
Vyrn: Huh? Fate?
Seox: So you would ask me to trust you with my fate?
Vyrn: Yeah, leave it to us! (Captain)'s headed for Estalucia, you know!
Continue 2
Lyria: Exactly! (Captain) would definitely be able to find the skyfarer you're looking for, Seox!
Seox: Are you saying you do not begrudge me of my despair? You really are just like that man.
Seox: Then I entrust my fate to you.
Vyrn: All righty, it's decided! Welcome aboard, Masked Wonder!
Seox: Heh... I look forward to it.
Thus Seox, the Eternal, joins the crew as they prepare for lift off.
Lyria: By the way, Seox!
Lyria: I am going to introduce you to everyone in our crew, so please take off that mask!
Seox: Eh! N-no—
The party would soon learn that his mask is simply a means of coping with his extreme social anxiety.

The Message Left Behind

The crew decides to return to Karm for clues on where to find Seox's old skyfaring acquaintance. After learning from Sierokarte that bandits are pillaging the hamlet in search of treasure, the crew hurries there.

(Captain) and company continue their journey through the skies, helping Seox search for a certain skyfarer.
The crew visits numerous islands, but unfortunately no leads turn up.
Vyrn: We need something to go on if we're ever gonna find that guy...
Lyria: Hmm... Were there any clues back in Karm about the skyfarer?
Vyrn: Now that you mention it... we left that island as soon as Seox joined us!
Seox: ...
Vyrn: Hmm... It might not be a bad idea to go back there and search for clues from scratch!
Vyrn: How about it, Seox? Why don't we try going back to Karm?
Seox: ...
Vyrn: ...
Lyria: ...
Vyrn: Ah! I just remembered—you forgot to give Seox his mask back!
Lyria: O-oh, that's right! Here you go!
Seox: That loathsome place calls out to me again.
Seox: Hahah... Very well. Let's go then!
Lyria: Yeah! Let's look for clues leading to the skyfarer together!
Vyrn: Sigh... Seox can be a handful.
Little did they know that at that time the hamlet of Karm was being beset by an unexpected state of affairs.
Lyria: E-everyone! Siero just told me something awful is happening to Karm!
Vyrn: Whoa, what's going on?
Lyria: Well...
According to Siero...
Rumors speak of the Karm Clan's vast fortune, accrued through assassination missions, lying hidden somewhere in the hamlet.
Thieves and treasure hunters alike flock to Karm, turning it inside out in search of the riches.
Vyrn: What! A vast fortune? I-is that true, Seox?
Seox: I wouldn't know... The clan despised me after all.
Vyrn: Oh... Uh, well...
Seox: But I can't have the likes of thieves looting the hamlet and taking any clues that might lead to that man...
Lyria: Good point! Karm must hold a lot of memories for you of time spent with that skyfarer!
Lyria: We need to hurry there before it's too late!

The Message Left Behind: Scene 2

(Captain) and company arrive at Karm and advance through a cave full of unknown dangers. When Lyria accidentally triggers a trap and monsters appear, Seox rejoices at the chance to alleviate his boredom.

(Captain) and company return to Seox's home, the hamlet of Karm.
The once tranquil and beautiful hamlet has been laid to waste by treasure-seeking thieves.
Vyrn: T-this is awful... I don't know if we'll find any clues with Karm the way it is now...
  1. Don't give up! We'll find something!
  2. The treasure is all mine!

Choose: Don't give up! We'll find something!
Vyrn: You're right! Let's kick all those thieves out of here!

Choose: The treasure is all mine!
Vyrn: Yeah! Wait, that's what you're worried about?
Continue 1
Seox: Don't fret. What you see here is only the entrance to the hamlet.
Seox: Intruders won't find their way into Karm so easily.
Bandit: Gaah! H-heeelp me!
Bandit: What's with this cave? How can anyone make it out alive with all these traps?
Vyrn: What the? Look at all those thieves running away!
Seox: Hahah! They're fools to think the likes of them could conquer Karm.
Seox: Let's go, (Captain)!
Seox easily makes his way through the dangerous cave that sent seasoned bandits running away screaming.
The party struggles to keep up with Seox as he dodges the numerous traps set all over the cave.
Vyrn: Wh-what's with this trembling?
Seox: Looks like a trap's been activated. A rat must have wandered inside...
Lyria: Um... Maybe I shouldn't have touched this object?
Vyrn: What the... Hey! Lyria's the one who activated the trap!
Monster: Grrr...
Vyrn: Uh-oh! Whatever it was, it dropped these monsters on us!
Seox: Heheh... Good timing. I was just starting to get bored.
Seox: This should entertain me for a little while! Let's go, (Captain)!

The Message Left Behind: Scene 3

When (Captain) and company arrive at a place that Seox holds dear to his heart, a group of treasure-seeking bandits appear and attack the party.

Vyrn: Whew... That was close!
Lyria: Sorry about that... Mm...
Lyria: W-wow! I didn't think there'd be such a beautiful place past the cave!
Seox: Looks like none of the thieves made it this far...
Lyria: Yeah! Maybe we can find clues about the skyfarer here!
Seox: Yeah... You might be right.
Lyria: Oh... Did you and the skyfarer spend a lot of time here?
Seox: ...
Seox: Come to think of it, he came here without batting an eye at those traps.
Seox: In my utter despair and misery, he reached out to me and told me everything would be okay.
Seox: That's what this place means to me.
Lyria: I see.
Seox: Heheh. Seems you have a long way to go, (Captain).
Seox: I doubt you can make it through that cave alone.
Seox: You remind me of him, so please don't disappoint me. I have high expectations of you.
  1. You won't be disappointed!
  2. That's great, but where's the treasure?

Choose: You won't be disappointed!
Seox: Heheh... I hope not.

Choose: That's great, but where's the treasure?
Seox: Heheh... You've got a one-track mind. Though being loyal to your desires isn't a bad thing.

Seox: But enough chitchat. Seems like the rats that have been trailing us finally caught up.
Vyrn: Rats? What are you talking about?
Bandit: My, how rude! Evading those traps was a simple task for someone of my caliber... Oww.
Underling: Gahaha! We were right to follow these guys, Boss!
Vyrn: These are the rats? They might have big mouths, but they're in pretty bad shape!
Underling: Phew, it was grueling work trailin' you guys... Aww, now I'm starvin'...
Lyria: Um, so is there something you want from us?
Bandit: You're no ordinary travelers, are you? If you know something about the Karm Clan's fortune, you'd better fess up!
Underling: We'll be takin' the treasure for ourselves!
Vyrn: Hah, we wouldn't tell you diddly-squat even if we did know something!
Bandit: Humph! Impudent lizard!
Get 'em, boys!
Underling: Heheh! The treasures and meat are all ours!
Seox: Tch... I didn't want to waste my time with you, but you're not giving me a choice. I'll make you regret it!

The Message Left Behind: Scene 4

After fending off the bandits, the crew finds a journal belonging to the skyfarer that Seox has been searching for. Through this journal Seox discovers that his father—who he killed by his own hand—actually loved him deeply. Seox is struck with a guilty conscience, and the party tries to cheer him up.

(Captain) and company successfully fend off the bandits.
As the crew search for clues about the skyfarer, they come across an old journal hidden in the hollow of a tree.
Vyrn: Gulp... This must be the clue we've been looking for!
Lyria: Yeah... This must be something the skyfarer left for Seox!
Vyrn: Come on, open it up! What does it say?
Seox: ...
Seox carefully opens the journal and quietly begins to read...
Vyrn: Hey, we wanna know what it says too. Read it out loud for us.
Lyria: Sshhh! Vyrn, let's leave him be for now. Okay?
Written in the journal is an inconceivable truth.
There was a great conflict within the clan over Seox's extraordinary abilities.
Dissenters planned to assassinate Seox along with his father, who was head of the clan at the time.
Predicting the clan's downfall, Seox's father entrusted his son's future...
To a skyfarer who was a longtime friend.
Seox: What... have I done...
Seox: I killed my only immediate family and let go of my future along with him... Heh... What a joke...
Seox: I was a fool to think I could achieve a life of peace...
Lyria: Seox...
Seox: This is the end of our journey together. We're strangers from now on.
Seox: I'll stay here and bear the burden of my own guilt... Now go.
Lyria: Eeyah!
Seox: Ah! W-wha—
Lyria: You shouldn't wear a mask like this!
Lyria: As your friend I can't watch you hide your true feelings behind a mask!
Seox: ...!
Vyrn: That's right! We can't leave you alone now that we see how much you're suffering under that mask!
Seox: You guys...
  1. Don't you trust us?
  2. We're here for you!

Choose: Don't you trust us?
Seox: Ugh... It's... not like that...

Choose: We're here for you!
Seox: ...!

Lyria: Hm? This journal... there's something written on the back too!
Vyrn: What does it say?
Lyria: Umm...
On the back of the journal is a message for Seox.
The journal ends with a note: when you find friends you can truly trust one day, don't ever let them go.
Seox: T-this is...
Vyrn: What the? It's like he knew what would happen here today.
Lyria: Hey, Seox! Don't you think this means that the skyfarer wants you to be happy too?
Seox: I...
Lyria: Come with us! And if we come across that skyfarer some day...
Lyria: Tell him you found friends that you can trust! Right, (Captain)?
Seox: Okay... Thank you...
Vyrn: Hm? What's wrong, (Captain)? Did you notice something in that journal?
  1. I know this writing...
  2. I'm looking for clues about the treasure!

Choose: I know this writing...
Vyrn: Hmm... I don't recognize it, but this could be an important clue if you can remember whose writing it is!
Vyrn: We need to find that skyfarer for Seox's sake too!

Choose: I'm looking for clues about the treasure!
Vyrn: Oh yeah! I forgot all about it!
Vyrn: Well then, let's get back to treasure hunting! We should be able to find it in no time with Seox's help!

With the bond among his newfound friends deeper than ever, Seox once again sets out to the skies, where the skyfarer will surely be waiting.

A Fear Unmasked

When (Captain), Lyria, and Vyrn come up on deck to check on Seox, he reviles himself as a monster. (Captain) then challenges him to a duel as if to prove something.

Some time passes after Seox of the feared Eternals joins the crew.
Seox: Graah!
Vyrn: Go, go, (Captain)! He's open!
Seox and (Captain) are sparring on the deck of the Grandcypher.
Seox: Too easy!
Lyria: Ah! (Captain)!
Vyrn: Well, that settles it! Masked Wonder wins the round!
Lyria: Seox is so strong!
Vyrn: Today might've been a loss, but (Captain)'s win rate has been on the up lately.
Seox: You'll be at my throat if I let my guard down for even a second. You're really something, (Captain).
Lyria: Teehee, I guess (Captain) is getting stronger too!
Lyria: But now that the match is over, my stomach's grumbling...
Vyrn: Huh? But all you did was watch, Lyria.
Lyria: I know, but...
Seox: Heh.
Seox chuckles amid the lively conversation—the sign of another peaceful day.
A mysterious event comes to pass one night.
Seox: ...
A restless Seox goes out on deck to gaze at the night sky.
Seox: Serenity fills the night air...
With everyone else in the crew asleep, the Grandcypher has fallen silent.
Seox: Whew...
In the soothing tranquility of the night, Seox lets out a peaceful sigh.
Just then, something catches Seox's attention.
Seox: Huh?
Seox senses movement and readies himself for whatever may come.
Seox: ...
A few shadows hop aboard the grounded Grandcypher.
Seox holds his breath and fades into the darkness, all while observing the shadows.
Thug 1: This way, guys.
Thug 2: This ship is huge... I think we've hit the jackpot!
Thug 1: Don't make too much noise. I don't think anyone's up, but let's play it safe.
Thug 3: Does it matter? We're killing them all either way.
Seox: ...!
Seox leaps into action.
Thug 3: Hm?
Thug 4: Stick to the plan and split into two groups.
Thug 4: Wha!
Thug 1: What the hell?
The only sounds breaking the silence are the muffled screams of the invaders as Seox's claws make short work of them.
Thug 1: Ngh!
Thug 2: You... monster...
Seox: ...!
Seox: Pant... Wheeze...
Seox breathes heavily as he looks down at the fallen bandits.
Seox: A monster they called me...
???: Urgh! This little brat's responsible?
???: Look what you've done to Karm!
???: You hellspawn... You wretched monster!
Seox: I've never forgotten.
Seox stands dazed as he stares at his bloodstained hands.
He soon hears the sound of soft footsteps approaching.
Lyria: Is someone there? Hm? Seox?
Seox: ...!
You—
Lyria: You're still awake? At this hour?
Lyria: Eep!
Lyria lets out a shriek when she notices the bodies lying on the ground.
Vyrn: Whoa! What's this all about?
Seox: Why did you come up here?
Vyrn: (Captain) mentioned feeling something off up here, so we came to check it out.
Seox: I see...
Lyria: So who are these people?
Vyrn: Wait, weren't these guys on the wanted poster we saw in town this afternoon?
Lyria: Ah! They're the group that's been robbing skyfarers and merchants all over!
Vyrn: So they came after us too?
Seox: Seems like it.
Lyria: Whew... I guess that was a close one.
Vyrn: And you fought them off?
Seox: ...
Lyria: You went up against this many alone? I hope you're okay!
Seox: I'm fine. Losers like them can't even touch me.
Vyrn: That's impressive! Just goes to show how strong you are, Masked Wonder!
Seox: I'm a monster after all...
Lyria: Huh? What's that, Seox?
Seox: I said I'm a monster...
Vyrn: Aww, c'mon, Masked Wonder! It's not like you to say that!
Seox: Never mind... Forget I ever said it.
Lyria: But...
Seox's expression remains hidden beneath his mask, but the tone of his voice suggests there is much more to the matter.
(Captain) and company, having become closely acquainted with Seox, are well aware of the fact.
Seox: I'll clean up here. You guys—
(Captain) walks up to Seox as if blocking his path.
Seox: What is it?
(Captain) takes up a fighting stance in front of Seox.
Seox: What's the meaning of this?
Vyrn: Time for another sparring match, I guess.
Seox: Huh? Now? In the middle of the night?
  1. Please!
  2. Have at you!

Choose: Please!
Seox: You...
Vyrn: C'mon, Masked Wonder! A bit of midnight sparrin' never hurt anyone!
Vyrn: You spar all the time anyway! What have you got to lose?

Choose: Have at you!
Seox: What the? Stop that!
Seox: (Captain)!
Vyrn: Careful, Masked Wonder! (Captain)'s serious and you'd better be too!
Continue 1
Seox: Grgh!
Still somewhat confused, Seox responds in kind to (Captain)'s flurry of attacks.

A Fear Unmasked: Scene 2

(Captain) comes out on top, exclaiming that the victory makes the captain even more of a monster than Seox. As they quibble over semantics, a strange voice rings out in Seox's ears.

Lyria: Yay! Score for (Captain)!
Vyrn: Good going, (Captain)!
Still breathing heavily (Captain) looks directly at Seox.
Vyrn: Hm? (Captain)?
(Captain) claims that this victory makes the captain even more of a monster than Seox.
Seox: ...!
What are you saying?
Lyria: I guess that makes sense...
Vyrn: If you're a monster, then (Captain), who just beat you, can only be more of a monster.
Seox: No! I don't buy that! (Captain) could never be a monster!
Lyria: Then you're not a monster either, Seox.
Seox: That's...
Faced against a deadpan Lyria, Vyrn, and (Captain), Seox finds himself speechless.
Seox: What is it you're trying to say?
Vyrn: The thing is, Masked Wonder...
Vyrn: Every one of us knows you're super strong, but we've never thought of it as a bad thing.
Lyria: Of course not! Your strength has helped us time and time again. It's always a relief knowing you're with us!
Lyria: So please stop saying such awful things about yourself...
Seox: I see...
Seox sighs with a downward glance, as if giving everyone's words careful thought.
But something suddenly sounds in the distance.
???: Never forg... you've...
Seox: ...!
What is that?
A cold chill goes up Seox's spine as a mysterious voice speaks right into his ear.
???: You...
In addition...
Seox: What is this?
Vyrn: What's wrong, Masked Wonder?
Seox: Ack!
Vyrn's voice startles Seox as the fleeting presence vanishes.
Lyria: Seox?
Seox: No, it's nothing...
Seox: (I don't hear it anymore. Was it all in my head? But then...)
Vyrn: I don't know what it is you're still worried about, but I'm telling you: you're definitely not a monster.
Vyrn: After all...
Seox: Wha?
Vyrn: Without this mask...
Seox: Guh! S-stop! Keep your hands off!
Vyrn: You see? There's no such thing as a monster who'd run in fear of having its mask taken off.
Seox: D-don't come any closer!
Lyria and (Captain) watch Vyrn and Seox's little game of tag with delight.

Inevitable Ruin

Seox thinks back on his troubled past and (Captain)'s heartwarming words when a voice suddenly calls out. He enters the deckhouse in pursuit of the voice only to find the Six-Ruin Fist attempting to cajole him into picking it up.

Overtaken by an inexplicable uneasiness one night, Seox goes out on deck for a breath of fresh air.
Seox: Sigh...
Vyrn: Every one of us knows you're super strong, but we've never thought of it as a bad thing.
Lyria: Of course not! Your strength has helped us time and time again. It's always a relief knowing you're with us!
???: You hellspawn... You wretched monster!
Thug 2: You... monster...
Seox cannot shake off the stark contrast between the affectionate voices of his friends and the traumatic memories that continue to haunt him.
Seox: I'm...
???: Never forg...
Seox: It's back!
The mysterious presence resurfaces, speaking into Seox's ear once again.
Seox: Where could it be?
Seox sharpens his senses and surveys the surroundings, but finds nothing suspicious on deck.
Seox: There's nothing here... But I definitely heard something.
???: Your...
Seox: Is it coming from the deckhouse?
Seox: Are we being invaded? But when could they have...
Seox goes after the mysterious presence and reaches the deckhouse.
Seox: What is this?
...
Seox: This is the Six-Ruin Fist, but...
???: Don't forget.
Seox: Could the voice be coming from this weapon?
Six-Ruin Fist: Yes... Perk up your ears and listen well: never turn yourself away from your sins.
Seox: What's with a weapon like you acting all high-and-mighty?
Six-Ruin Fist: Heh heh heh... Stop it with the tough guy act. I know how afraid you are of the destruction your power can cause.
Seox: Shut up! I...
Six-Ruin Fist: Never forget the destruction you've wrought.
Seox: I...
Six-Ruin Fist: Your power will wreak havoc once again.
Seox: ...!
Six-Ruin Fist: I see no need for you to despise your own power. I advise you to embrace it instead.
Seox: What?
Six-Ruin Fist: Go ahead and put me on. My powers are a perfect match for your bloodstained hands.
Seox: No! I'm not—
Six-Ruin Fist: What's wrong? It would be unwise to continue to resist and turn your back from your true calling.
Six-Ruin Fist: Fit me onto your hand already! I will satiate the craving in your claws for further destruction!
Seox: Mm...
Six-Ruin Fist: So what will it be?
Seox: All right. I get it.
Six-Ruin Fist: Heh heh heh... Attaboy. Well then...
Seox: Don't get the wrong idea. I have no intention of taking in your power.
Six-Ruin Fist: Oh?
Seox: Enough of your bullcrap. I don't know what it is you're after...
Seox: But I do know a shady thing like you has no place on this ship! I'm gonna tear you to shreds!
Seox: Kieeii!

Inevitable Ruin: Scene 2

Seox hears footsteps approach and holds off on giving the Six-Ruin Fist another pummeling. He takes it away to keep (Captain) and the others from danger but ends up embracing its power.

Six-Ruin Fist: And yet you persist... How many times do I have to tell you that resistance is futile?
Seox: Hush.
Six-Ruin Fist: Your power is what isolates you. It makes you different from the skyfarer you search for and everyone on this crew.
Six-Ruin Fist: Deny it as you might—running here will make no difference. I guarantee you will eventually succumb to the darkness once again.
Seox: That's enough!
Six-Ruin Fist: Fine then. You're not my only option, you know? Perhaps I should try that skyfarer...
Six-Ruin Fist: The one who led me to awakening and can stand toe-to-toe with you.
Seox: Do you mean (Captain)? You rotten son of a—
Six-Ruin Fist: Complete and utter destruction of the skies won't be a long time coming once I get (Captain) on my side.
Seox: That's never gonna happen!
Six-Ruin Fist: But why not? Surely you'd feel lonely falling into the darkness all by yourself?
Seox: No!
The Six-Ruin Fist shines with a mystical light as Seox prepares to attack it again, but something interrupts him.
???: Is this where the sound came from?
???: What could be happening at this time of night... I hope it's not bandits again...
Seox: Vyrn, Lyria?
(Captain) too?
The voices and footsteps are no doubt headed in Seox's direction.
Six-Ruin Fist: Well then... I suppose my chance has come.
Seox: I won't let you.
Seox immediately grabs the Six-Ruin Fist and disappears from the scene.
Six-Ruin Fist: What do you plan on doing with me all alone?
Seox: Like I'd give you a chance to get close to (Captain) and the others!
Six-Ruin Fist: Heh... Thing is, you've put me within hand's reach of you.
Seox: ...
Six-Ruin Fist: Wield me and embrace my power.
Seox: Yeah, I suppose I should...
The Six-Ruin Fist gives off a mystical glow as Seox fits it on his hand.
Six-Ruin Fist: Heh heh heh... This is gonna be fun.
Seox: ...
The face that Seox now makes beneath the mask...
Is known to none in the crew.

Nine Nocturnal Targets

Seofon calls out to Seox in a comical tone at first, but he immediately turns serious at the sight of the Six-Ruin Fist, challenging the power-hungry Seox to a duel.

???: Whoa, am I seeing right? Is that really who I think it is?
A man calls out in surprise to Seox as he gets off the Grandcypher.
Seofon: Seox, it really is you!
Seox: Seofon...
Seofon: Sup, man? Whatcha doing out here all alone? Don't tell me you've locked horns with (Captain) and the others?
Seox: You're as noisy as ever. Tell me what you want and be done with it.
Seofon: Aww, c'mon now. Is that any way to talk to a friend? I saw you coming out and thought I'd say hello!
Seofon: That's not such a strange thing for me to do, is it?
Seofon shrugs in an exaggerated manner, but his expression immediately changes upon noticing the Six-Ruin Fist.
Seofon: Is that a revenant weapon you've got there?
Seox: ...
A tense silence fills the air.
Seofon: Erm... Never mind.
Seofon: I'd prefer not to get too caught up in whatever you have going on with the crew over there...
Seofon: But I've got responsibilities to uphold as leader of the Eternals.
Seox: Get to the point already.
Seofon: Why are you here?
Seox: ...
Seox: I need power.
Seofon: Heh.
A wide grin creeps over Seofon's face as he readies his sword.
Seofon: Care to have a round with me? I think it'll be good training for ya!

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 2

After a brief tete-a-tete between the two about Seox's power, Seofon saunters off.

Seofon: All right, that's enough for today!
Seofon: Phew, sure worked up a good sweat!
Seox: Answer me this...
Seofon: Hm? Sure, what's up?
Seox: Why did you make me one of the Eternals?
Seofon: Oh, that?
Seofon: To put it simply, because you're strong. Strength is the primary attribute expected of an Eternal.
Seox: I see...
Seofon: Heh... You seem different, you know.
Seox: Come again?
Seofon: Ah, it's nothing. Anyway, there's my answer. Now it's your turn to answer a question!
Seox: What? How does it come to that?
Seofon: Do you seek power because of your past? Or is it for your future?
Seox: My future obviously.
Seofon: Yeah?
Seofon: Well, okay then! I'm gonna get going now. Got stuff to do, you know.
Seox: Wait, Seofon!
The easygoing Seofon simply waves at Seox and walks away as freely as he arrived.

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 3

The young mage Fif descends upon Seox, suddenly demanding a bout and promising to explain why later. Though reluctant, Seox has no choice but to put up a fight.

Shortly after parting with Seofon, a small figure gently lands before Seox.
Fif: Yoo-hoo! I'm here, Seox!
Seox: ...!
Fif! What are you doing here?
Fif: Bwuh? Um... what matters is we have a fight right now!
Seox: The hell? You expect me to fight you for no good reason?
Fif: So you're just going to walk away? Grr, you're always such a hardheaded meanie!
Seox: Gah, you never did make any sense!
Outta my way!
Fif: But that's not how it's supposed to go! Ah, what a hassle...
Fif: Oh, I know! Beat me, and I'll tell you why we have to fight!
Seox: Huh? I said
Fif: But you'll have to fight me for real! Ready or not, here I come!

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 4

Seox wins, but Fif flies off in a storm without explaining anything.

Fif: Wah, I lost!
Seox: Geez, what's your problem?
Fif: This is our first time fighting, but you're really strong, Seox! Someone coulda warned me!
Seox: So why—
Fif: Well, I guess that does it for today... But I won't be a loser forever! I'll beat you for sure next time!
Fif: That's a promise!
Seox: What the?
Weren't you gonna tell me why we had to fight?
Seox: What was that all about?
Fif flies off in a storm as quickly as she flew in while Seox stares in disbelief.

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 5

Next in line to confront Seox is Eahta. The masked fighter hesitantly readies his claws against an aggressive Eahta.

Not long after the encounter with Fif, a massive figure appears before Seox.
Eahta: Here you are, Seox.
Seox: Eahta? Now it's you, huh... What is it?
Eahta: I heard Fif paid you a visit.
Seox: She did, but she made absolutely no sense as always.
Eahta: Humph. And you appear to regard her with aversion as always.
Seox: Hey, I never said anything about hating on her!
Eahta: Very well then. You shall engage in a bout with me.
Seox: The hell is going on here? I told Fif the same thing, but I don't fight unless—
Eahta: The clashing of words is rarely a bad thing. But for now...
Eahta: Let us clash blades, not words.
Seox: Grgh!

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 6

Eahta explains that his path in life is simply to become stronger, but Seox must pursue his own path—whatever that may be.

Eahta: Humph... I see now that your strength is genuine.
Seox: My strength?
Seox: Eahta, I just have one question for you.
Eahta: A question from you is a rarity. Speak your mind.
Seox: We both know that you're incredibly strong already. Yet I hear that you train fiercely every day looking to improve.
Seox: What's the end goal for you? What are you hoping to do with all that strength?
Eahta: The path to true strength is itself my way of life.
Seox: Way of life? In others words your end goal?
Eahta: Do not confuse an end goal for a way of life.
Seox: ...
Eahta: But waxing philosophical about my ideologies is of no help to you.
Eahta: My only advice to you is to find your own path in life.
Seox: My path in life?
Eahta: I may have spoken too much. I shall take my leave now.
Eahta walks off in a serene state of mind.

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 7

Seox is deep in thought over Eahta's words when Threo appears. She calls for a fight, and Seox begrudgingly accepts.

Seox is pondering Eahta's words when another figure suddenly shows up.
Threo: Found you, Seox!
Seox: ...!
What's with the sudden visit, Threo?
Threo: Fight me!
Seox: Grgh! What's the meaning of this?
Threo: Here I come!

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 8

Seox falls silent when Threo calls him a monster, deeply hurt by the painful reminder. She then lets slip that she gets to fight Seofon now, giving Seox an idea of what might be happening behind the scenes.

Threo: Grr! Damn it! I can't believe I lost! I was sure I'd win!
Seox: Satisfied?
Why are you even here?
Threo: You're too strong! What are you—some kind of monster?
Seox: ...
Threo: Hm? What's wrong? You look like you ate some funky meat or something.
Seox: It's nothing...
Threo: You won, so what could you possibly be upset about? You're not happy about winning?
Seox: Merriment doesn't exactly come easily to me.
Threo: Mary-mint? Meh, I just don't get you. Whatever. I get to fight Seofon now!
Seox: Wait, did you say Seofon? What's he got to do with all this?
Threo: Mm... But it sucks to feel like a loser, so we're fighting again next time I see you!
Seox: That doesn't answer my question!
Threo, wait!
Seox: Sigh...
The incessant wave of attackers gets Seox wondering who could possibly be behind all this.

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 9

The onslaught of contenders forcing their way into a battle with Seox continues with Tien. She reminds him that she won't hold back, prompting Seox to take the match seriously.

Seox: ...
???: Thinking about something?
Seox: ...!
Ugh, another one of you?
Tien: Let us fight.
Seox: I thought you'd say that... I have no idea what's happening, but I bet you're not gonna tell me anyway.
Seox: This is getting to be a real hassle, but let's get this over with.
Tien: Mm... That won't do.
Seox: Huh?
Tien: You shouldn't try to rush this. Consider it a life-or-death battle.
Tien: I'll be giving it my all, and so should you. Otherwise there's no point to this.
Seox: All right then...
Seox: I'm going right for the kill!

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 10

After the battle Tien comments on how she can relate to Seox's situation and notes a change in him.

Tien: Mm... It's my loss...
Seox: Huff...
Tien: You look tired.
Seox: Me? Tired? No way...
Tien: I understand your feelings somewhat...
Seox: Huh?
Tien: Sins do not go unpunished.
Seox: ...!
Tien: Though I don't know if you're afraid or just waiting.
Seox: ...
Tien: Mm... But you seem different somehow. I suppose that's why you're here.
Seox: True.
Tien: My apologies. I've said too much.
Seox: It's fine. I don't mind.
Tien: Mm... See you later.
Seox: Yep, catch you later...
Seox mutters under his breath as Tien gracefully leaves the scene.

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 11

With newfound determination and resolve, Seox sets out for Stardust Town. When Seox comes by picking a fight, Feower responds in kind.

With newfound determination and resolve gained from the battle with Tien, Seox sets out for Stardust Town.
Seox: Feower...
Feower: Well, well, if it isn't Seox.
Feower: What a surprise to see you come out here of your own accord.
Seox: I have something to ask of you.
Feower: Oh my, today's just full of surprises! I doubt I'd be of any help to you though.
Seox: I want you to fight me.
Feower: Hm... So that's what it is, huh?
Feower: Hahaha! You're on! I always hated your guts, and now I get to do something about it!
Seox: Perfect. No reason for either of us to hold back then!
Feower: Hah! Bring it! I'm gonna totally rip your guts out!

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 12

The bruised and battered Feower expresses his disgust for Seox's self-loathing. Seox takes the gripe to heart and departs from Stardust Town.

Feower: Ngh... Damn you!
Seox: Sorry...
Feower: You see? That's exactly the sorta crap I can't stand about you!
Seox: Come again?
Feower: You're so ridiculously strong, yet you're always pissing on that strength!
Feower: Just how many people in this world do you think crave power—the very power that you look down upon!
Feower: And yet you always
Seox: I'll admit it... Deep down I've never thought highly of my strength.
Feower: You son of a...
Seox!
Seox: But I see things differently now... I'm in your debt, Feower.
Feower: Shut up and get on with whatever it is you're doing. Like I give a damn what happens to you!
Seox: Fair enough.
Feower: And leave my sister alone or you'll be hearing from me again!
Seox: Heh, fine by me.
Seox leaves behind an enraged Feower as he quietly exits Stardust Town.

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 13

Seox visits Tweyen next. They both seem fully aware of the situation, eliminating the need for any idle chatter as they enter battle.

Seox: Tweyen...
After Stardust Town Seox pays a visit to Tweyen.
Tweyen: Hm? Is that you, Seox?
Seox: I have a request of you.
Tweyen: Hehe... I never thought I'd hear that coming from you.
Tweyen: I wasn't expecting to see you here, but you saved me the trouble of looking for you.
Seox: Seems you are no different from the others.
Tweyen: I guess you've figured out everything then?
Tweyen: Okay, ready whenever you are...
Seox: I'm going all in.
Tweyen: Okay. Let's see what meets my eyes.

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 14

Tweyen reveals that she always saw a repugnance in Seox for his own strength. However, she also praises Seox for getting over it.

Tweyen: It's over for me...
It's not easy accepting loses.
Tweyen: I sure wasn't expecting this though.
Seox: Hm? What's to be surprised about?
Tweyen: You might be strong, but I always got the impression you didn't really like fighting.
Tweyen: I'm not sure how to put it, but it's as if you hesitated to use your power.
Seox: You think so?
Tweyen: But I think I sort of get why you'd hesitate.
Seox: Really?
Tweyen: Yes... It can be suffocating to be so different from everyone else.
Seox: That's for sure...
Tweyen: But you look like you're beyond all that now.
Seox: Almost, to be precise.
Tweyen: Hehe, if you say so! Good luck either way! I'll see you around!
Seox: Till next time...
As the feelings bubbling in Seox's heart begin to take shape, he heads toward his next destination.

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 15

Seox calls on Niyon next. After a little game of hide-and-seek, she happily concedes to his request for a showdown.

Niyon: Ah...
Seox: You haven't changed a bit...
Niyon swoops toward the shadows after noticing Seox, but he quickly catches up with her.
Seox: Found you, Niyon.
Niyon: So you've come, Seox...
Seox: This is you we're talking about here. I'd be surprised if you didn't notice me coming.
Niyon: Yes, that's why I tried to escape. From you, and from Seofon.
Seox: Yeah? Well, now that we're face-to-face, you're gonna have to fight me.
Niyon: Fine... It doesn't look like you're going away without a few tunes, and besides...
Niyon: With the way you are now, you might make a rhythmic accompaniment for my harp.
Niyon: Play me the cadenza humming within you!

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 16

Niyon remarks on how Seox's dark melody has become so much brighter. He walks away appreciative of the observation.

Niyon: Huff... huff...
Niyon: I'm out of tunes.
Seox: Sorry.
Niyon: It's okay. I haven't lost my crescendo entirely.
Seox: You mentioned something about the way I am now.
Niyon: Hm?
Seox: Did you mean to say I seem different from before?
Niyon: It definitely sounds like that.
Niyon: I used to hear a majestic yet terrifying fugue from you. But not now.
Niyon: It's still a very profound composition, but so much more harmonic with all the depressingly low notes blown away.
Seox: I see...
Niyon: As long as you keep in mind who to thank for that, I don't think you'll strike any false notes.
Seox: Heh, 'nuff said... I'm off now.
Niyon: Have a good tune.
Seox sighs at Niyon's routine musical references and leaves the premises.

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 17

The last in Seox's martial marathon is Anre. They talk in circles about how Seox has changed and then proceed to fight it out.

Anre: I've been waiting, Seox.
Seox's final challenger is Anre, who is, along with Seofon, a cofounder of the Eternals.
Seox: I beat you and this is all over with, Anre.
Anre: I see.
It looks like you have gone through the mill.
Seox: I must become stronger. Unwavering strength that will never yield is what I truly need.
Anre: Hm... I'll refrain from asking you why for now.
Anre: But answer me this: what is it you've equipped yourself with?
Seox: You mean this? It's a revenant weapon—the Six-Ruin Fist...
Anre: Yes, that's what you see. But there's more than that.
Seox: So you're referring to something not in plain sight...
Anre: I'm sure you already feel it—the sensation overtaking your hand, your fist, your body.
Seox: My... body?
Anre: As prolonging this conversation will bear no more fruit, I shall show you directly.
Anre: Show me the power you have gained!

Nine Nocturnal Targets: Scene 18

Their little bout makes Seox realize how much his power has changed. Anre reminds him that there are certain people he must talk to about his desire for power and walks off.

Anre: Ngh... Grggh...Your strength is true, Seox.
Seox: My strength...
Anre: Surely you feel it within you... A power unlike anything you've ever experienced.
Seox: I suppose I do...
Anre: Heh heh heh, that's what truly matters!
Seox: Is this what you and Seofon were planning all along?
Anre: Oh no, all I did was wait for you here.
Anre: But Seofon... I guess he really wanted to get you out of the darkness.
Anre: Let's not forget he is the one who enlisted you in the Eternals to begin with.
Seox: You guys can be a real pain.
Anre: Heh heh heh. Well then, I should get going.
Anre: I'm sure you'll be okay, Seox.
Anre: Just keep in mind that there are people you need to tell why it is you seek power.
Seox: Yeah, I got it.
Anre: Hah hah hah...
After Anre's departure Seox commits himself to take the next step, clenching his fist against his chest.

Clawing toward the Future

(Captain) and crew shower Seox with concern upon his return. Seox explains that he went off alone to acquire strength enough to protect others, and he now challenges (Captain) to a duel to test his newfound strength.

Having dominated the other Eternals, Seox returns to the Grandcypher with newfound resolve.
Vyrn: Ah! The Masked Wonder's back!
Lyria: Seox!
Seox: Guys...
Vyrn: ...
Lyria: ...
The crew comes forward and looks warily at Seox.
Seox: I suppose you're angry at me for leaving with the Six-Ruin Fist...
Vyrn: That's not it!
Lyria: Do you know how worried we were?
Seox: Worried? About the Six-Ruin Fist?
Vyrn: Ugh, do I have to spell it out for you?
Lyria: We were worried about you of course!
Seox: Me?
Lyria: We know how strong you are, Seox. But if something was bothering you, you should've told us.
Vyrn: I figured you had your reasons, but playing the waiting game can be pretty painful, you know?
Seox: I see...
Lyria: We're so glad you're back, but please don't go off without saying anything again.
Seox: Sorry...
Vyrn: So what happened? Is everything taken care of?
Seox: Uh-huh... I've never stopped thinking about this power I was born with.
Seox: It led to the annihilation of my clan, or rather—it led me to destroy my clan.
Lyria: But that's—
Seox: I already know your thoughts on the matter. But the fact is I can never forget what I've done.
Seox: I may one day be punished for this sin. Perhaps my power may even destroy you someday.
Seox: I despised and feared my power...
Vyrn: Masked Wonder...
Seox: But things are different now.
Seox: You guys would always tell me how reliable I am with this power.
Seox: And since this power has done you so much good, I'd like to take pride in it.
Seox: However...
Seox raises the arm equipped with the Six-Ruin Fist.
Seox: Power too great begets destruction.
Six-Ruin Fist: (Do you refer to me? Or to yourself?)
Seox: Both of us.
Lyria: Seox? What's wrong?
Seox: It's nothing...
Seox: Power enough to tear the heavens and pierce the stars... I craved the stength to protect you all from such a threat.
Seox: That's right—I sought the power to protect, not to destroy.
Lyria: So that's why you went off by yourself.
Seox: Yes.
Seox: (Captain), I have a request of you.
Seox: Will you allow me to test my newfound strength against you so I can be sure that it's really the kind I sought?
Vyrn: But that would mean—
(Captain) simply nods and enters a fighting stance.
Seox: Here I come, (Captain).
Seox: Kiieei!

Clawing toward the Future: Scene 2

Seox loses the fight, so the Six-Ruin Fist finally releases its grasp on him. He briefly removes his mask to thank the crew, but Vyrn is unsatisfied with a mere peek and tries to snatch the mask away, commencing a peaceful game of tag.

Seox: You're as tough as nails, (Captain).
Seox: That's the sort of strength I—
Six-Ruin Fist: You bore me.
Seox: Heh.
The Six-Ruin Fist gives off one last faint glow before going silent.
Seox: Whew...
Vyrn: Masked Wonder? What's wrong?
Seox: No, it's nothing... Don't worry about it.
Lyria: That fight was intense. I hope the two of you are okay?
Seox: It's fine. But anyway...
Seox reaches for his mask, fingers trembling.
Seox: Thanks to all your help, I've come to grips with both myself and my power. So...
Seox: Th-thank you.
Lyria: Seox!
Vyrn: Whoa! Did you seriously just take off your mask?
Seox: ...
Seox: Show's over!
Lyria: Wait, you're putting it back on?
Vyrn: C'mon, Masked Wonder! Take it off again!
Seox: I will not!
Vyrn: Please, please, just one more time!
Seox: Ngh! Stop that! Paws off!
Lyria: Teehee, this is definitely the Seox we know!
(Captain) and Lyria grin at the peaceful scene of Vyrn giving chase as Seox repeatedly gives him the slip.
Through so many trials and tribulations, Seox has finally gained strength resolute and struts about with an air of cheeriness.

Silence

Seox grows concerned about the Six-Ruin Fist's true objective and, together with (Captain), tries to force the gauntlet to speak, but it doesn't. While (Captain) looks after the weapon for a few days, it finally breaks its silence and implies that Seox is worthy of its power before saying no more.

Seox: ...
Seox: It looks more or less the same.
Seox mutters to himself as he stares at a golden gauntlet buried within one of the Grandcypher's storage rooms.
The Six-Ruin Fist is a legendary weapon said to be powerful enough to tear the heavens and pierce the stars.
After failing to manipulate Seox, the weapon became unresponsive, and it has been interred among old boxes ever since.
Six-Ruin Fist: Go ahead and put me on. My powers are a perfect match for your bloodstained hands.
Six-Ruin Fist: Wield me and embrace my power.
Seox: You wouldn't stop pestering me with your incessant demands.
Seox: What is it that you want? What do you hope to achieve by finding a wielder?
Lyria: Oh, there you are, Seox!
The Eternal hears the patter of footsteps behind him. He turns away from the weapon to see who called him.
Vyrn: Had a feelin' you'd be off doing your own thing again! What's the haps?
Seox: It's nothing. I just wanted to check on something.
Seox gazes at his hands, and he clams up. (Captain), Lyria, and Vyrn look at each other with concern.
Lyria: Um, does it have anything to do with the Six-Ruin Fist?
Seox: Yeah... Guess I never told you guys what happened, did I?
Seox: Remember that time I took the gauntlet and fled the ship?
Seox: Well, that night I heard its voice.
Lyria: You mean it talked?
Vyrn: I didn't know weapons had mouths...
Seox: I understand your skepticism.
Seox: Believe me, I questioned my own sanity when it first occurred.
Seox: Nevertheless, it's the only possible explanation.
Vyrn: Okay. So what'd it say to you?
Seox: It told me to slip my hand in, seize power, and bring about destruction.
Seox: If I refused, it would entice (Captain) instead.
The captain gives a knowing nod, as if the gauntlet's underhanded approach comes as no surprise.
Vyrn: That sounds pretty spooky. I get why you'd wanna keep tabs on the thing.
Seox: Exactly. I was hoping to find answers about what it is and what it wants.
Seox: But that seems moot considering I feel nothing coming from the gauntlet anymore.
Vyrn: Well... I'm no expert, but maybe it's moping from bein' stuffed in a dark room?
Lyria: So if we moved it to somewhere brighter and more cheerful, it might suddenly wake up.
Seox: Hm... I'm not sure how much of the outside world it can perceive, but some kind of stimulus could elicit a response.
Vyrn: Experiment time! Let's bring it outside!
Lyria: Good morning! Rise and shine!
Lyria: Oh... No answer...
Vyrn: Drat. So it'll take more than just fresh air...
After trying several ideas to awaken the Six-Ruin Fist, the crew becomes pessimistic with every failed attempt.
Seox: It said it was looking for a champion. Then maybe I should put it on...
Seox: (Captain), would you mind being my sparring partner?
  1. I won't pull any punches.
  2. You owe me one.

Choose: I won't pull any punches.
Seox: Yeah, that's fine. A slap fight isn't going to make it stir anyway.

Choose: You owe me one.
Seox: Sorry, (Captain). All I do is keep asking for favors.
Seox: Don't hold back. A slap fight isn't going to make it stir.

Seox: So let's leave nothing on the table.
Seox: Here I come!
Seox: Kiieeeii!
The match is a fierce exhibition of two pugilists matching each other blow for blow.
Both fighters connect simultaneously with body blows, forcing them to catch their breaths.
Seox: Phew... Let's call it a draw for today.
Lyria: You two had me so nervous the entire time! I had no idea when you'd stop!
Lyria: And the Six-Ruin Fist still hasn't said anything...
Seox: If it were only resting, we should've seen a reaction by now, even a small one.
Seox berates the weapon covering his hand. Meanwhile, looking at the gleaming metal glove gives (Captain) an idea.
  1. Can I see it for a sec?

Choose: Can I see it for a sec?
Seox: You're not thinking about wearing it, are you?
(Captain) is curious to see if the gauntlet will speak to someone other than Seox.
Seox: No, bad idea. I told you before, it's after something.
Seox: One wrong move, and you could be facing peril. If that happens, I—
  1. I've got nothing to fear with you here.

Choose: I've got nothing to fear with you here.
(Captain) trusts Seox to jump in and stop the weapon if it tries anything funny.
The Eternal doesn't speak for a while, but with (Captain)'s stare digging into him, he sighs in defeat.
Seox: Fine. I won't argue when your mind's made up. Take it.
Seox: But you tell me the instant something feels wrong. Fair enough?
Several days go by.
There's no immediate reaction from the Six-Ruin Fist after (Captain) takes ownership of the weapon.
(Captain) decides to expose the fist to action by undertaking a monster hunting request with Vyrn and Lyria.
Monster: Groooar!
???: Noisy...
Vyrn: (Captain)? What's up, buddy?
  1. I heard a voice.

Choose: I heard a voice.
Vyrn: You did? I didn't hear anything... What about you, Lyria?
Lyria: I didn't hear anything either... Maybe it was the wind?
Lyria and Vyrn look around for anything that could've been the source of the sound. Finally they hear it for themselves.
Six-Ruin Fist: So damn noisy. I can't stand it.
Vyrn: Whoa! Who said that!
Lyria: Do you think it's the voice Seox was talking about?
The trio have never seen the weapon act this way, and it leaves them speechless.
Six-Ruin Fist: As I suspected, you aren't fit for my power. It has to be him.
Vyrn: Uh... By him do you mean Seox?
Six-Ruin Fist: ...
The gauntlet falls silent again, offering no response to Vyrn's inquiry.

Accomplice

When (Captain) returns to the ship and hands the gauntlet back to Seox, the weapon reveals that it once belonged to a skydweller during the War. The skydweller fought tooth and nail, using the godly powers obtained through the Revenant weapon to kill many people. The weapon declares Seox as the next potential wielder of that power and entices him to indulge in the joy of carnage.

After defeating some monsters, (Captain) and the others hear the Six-Ruin Fist finally speak.
They quickly return to the Grandcypher and tell Seox the news.
Seox: I see. First of all, are you all right, (Captain)? You don't feel... different in any way?
The captain addresses Seox's scrutiny with reassurance, then hands him the gauntlet.
Six-Ruin Fist: Ah, that's better. It seems you're the only one worthy of using me.
Seox: ...!
Six-Ruin Fist: Know that you are the surrogate of the fist's god-like power.
Seox: God-like power, you say?
Seox: Who or what are you?
Six-Ruin Fist: Hahaha... I am you.
Seox: What?
Six-Ruin Fist: I killed many of my compatriots back in the day. Even my own family wasn't spared.
Six-Ruin Fist: We are birds of a feather, Seox. Sinners born with the power to snuff out the fires of life.
The gauntlet, or rather the individual to whom the voice belongs to, recounts their history with a hint of glee.
There once was a skydweller who wore the gauntlet and fought in the War to the bitter end.
Scores of Astrals and skydwellers, whether they be friend or foe, were slaughtered by the hand of the gauntlet.
Six-Ruin Fist: I didn't fight out of some sense of duty to my people. It just felt good to kill.
Six-Ruin Fist: My soul was special, for I was among the blessed few to be chosen to wield the god-like power flowing through a Revenant weapon.
Seox: This power you keep harping about... Was that enough of a reason to murder your own allies?
Six-Ruin Fist: Why not? War isn't about good versus evil. You either win or you lose.
Six-Ruin Fist: Guaranteed victory is achieved by prostrating oneself before the command of a god.
Six-Ruin Fist: Only the strong are bequeathed with the secrets of absolute destruction.
Six-Ruin Fist: And you, Seox, have also been granted that authority.
Six-Ruin Fist: You and I are both chosen vessels for this god-like power.
Seox: I'm not—
  1. That's not Seox.

Choose: That's not Seox.
Lyria: He's always there to protect us! That's why he's different!
Vyrn: Yeah! No way he's a murdering menace like you!
Seox: You guys...
The weapon scoffs at the crew members, as if offended that anyone would dare refute its claims.
Six-Ruin Fist: Do you know why the Six-Ruin Fist, with its power to tear the heavens and pierce the stars, has singled out our souls?
Six-Ruin Fist: The heavens represent the world, and the stars represent fate.
Six-Ruin Fist: Don't let appearances fool you. Extreme violence isn't reserved for our enemies—we crush anything that comes near us.
Six-Ruin Fist: You can't change the soul you were born with.
Seox: Bullcrap. Let's say I do believe you. What do you want from me?
Seox: Your time is over. Your body rotted away ages ago.
Six-Ruin Fist: So what? It doesn't matter what form I take.
Six-Ruin Fist: As long as you equip the Six-Ruin Fist, you can tap into its god-like power like I once did.
Six-Ruin Fist: That alone will allow me to savor the sweet taste of mayhem.
Six-Ruin Fist: Give me the pleasure of mentoring the man who will destroy the world.
Seox: You...
Six-Ruin Fist: Enough talk, Seox. Put me on.
Six-Ruin Fist: Can't you feel your soul screaming for the satisfaction of taking someone's life?
As the voice reaches a rapturous high, Seox can only stand in silence. After a moment of thinking, he clenches his fist and makes a decision.

Determination

One night (Captain) and Seox discuss the Six-Ruin Fist. Seox had unequivocally refused the weapon's temptations, but the last thing the weapon claimed before going silent was that Seox would assuredly seek out the god-like power. However, Seox is steadfast in his resolve, saying he'll follow (Captain) until his dying breath.

It's dark out on the deck.
Unable to sleep, (Captain) heads outside for some fresh air and sees that someone else is already there.
Seox: ...
  1. Seox?
  2. And where do you think you're going?

Choose: Seox?
Seox: ...!
Seox: It's late, (Captain). What are you doing up?
Seox: Me? I'm just... gathering my thoughts.

Choose: And where do you think you're going?
Seox: ...!
(Captain)... I'm just gathering my thoughts.
Seox: It's the truth. You can stop looking at me like I'm an escaped convict.
Continue 1
Seox: The Six-Ruin Fist claimed we were the same.
Seox: Hearing those words reminded me of the things I've done to get this far in life.
The conversation between the crew and the Six-Ruin Fist is still fresh in (Captain)'s mind.
Six-Ruin Fist: Enough talk, Seox. Put me on.
Six-Ruin Fist: Can't you feel your soul screaming for the satisfaction of taking someone's life?
Seox: ...
The Eternal has yet to respond to the weapon's invitation. (Captain) watches Seox carefully.
Seox: I refuse.
Seox: I have no obligation to go along with the ravings of a greedy, long-dead spirit.
Seox: Just like you, there will come a day when my body is returned to the soil.
Seox: But until then, I am my own man.
Seox: My soul and my flesh belong to no one but me.
The gauntlet lets out a little snicker.
Six-Ruin Fist: Your display of passion doesn't surprise me in the slightest. That defiance isn't half-bad...
Six-Ruin Fist: But the fact of the matter is you've already come in contact with the Revenant weapon and (Captain).
Six-Ruin Fist: When power congregates, mayhem is sure to ensue, whether you like it or not.
Seox: ...
Six-Ruin Fist: Then we'll see who comes begging for the power of a god. You can't deny your instincts.
Six-Ruin Fist: I guess I'll honor your wishes for the time being and take a nice nap...
Six-Ruin Fist: Dreaming of the day you come to your senses and put me to good use.
With a final haunting laugh, the Six-Ruin Fist's aura blinks out of existence.
Seox: Don't worry about what it said. I have no intention of entertaining that weapon any further.
Seox: Still, I can't shake the feeling that the power I used to bring down my clan is tied to that deranged soul in some way.
When it comes to what the Six-Ruin Fist said, it's difficult to determine where falsehoods end and where the truth begins.
As is often the case, the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.
(Captain) thinks it would be easy to dismiss the gauntlet's words out of hand, but to do so would be irresponsible. The captain frowns, hesitating to speak this aloud.
Seox: Don't make that face.
Seox: Regardless of what my soul says of me, I've already walked a path stained with many hardships and sins I can't atone for.
Seox: But I've made my choice to live with those regrets. I won't be misled again.
Seox: On the contrary, this power has allowed me to fight alongside you, and I wouldn't trade that for the world.
Seox: My power and my spirit...
Seox: I truly believe I was born to meet you.
Seox turns away from the night sky to look at (Captain).
Seox: If we're to take the gauntlet at its word, there will be more battles to come, but that doesn't matter.
Seox: The important thing is I will follow you until the end. That's a promise I'll never break.
A troubling future threatens to embroil Seox according to the Six-Ruin Fist.
But the Eternal is unperturbed, believing that he needn't fear destiny as long as his friends are with him.
A pair of eyes stare out from behind a mask and (Captain) returns the gaze with a resolute nod.
