Overview

Katalina is an excellent all-rounder, bringing damage, defensive, and supportive abilities in her simple-to-use kit.

Strengths

  • Carries many powerful, party-wide buffs:
    • Water ATK UpWater ATK is boosted
      and DA UpDouble attack rate is boosted
      (plus TA UpTriple attack rate is boosted
      after 5★) on charge attack—particularly useful for players lacking sources of multiattack.

  • Jack-of-all-trades but master of none: in higher level content, her lack of specialization makes her lose her party slot to other characters such as Lily (powerful heals, debuff removal, and stronger Fire DMG Cut; also becomes a debuffer and damage-dealer after 5★), Arulumaya (Holiday) (provides similar buffs and inflicts debuffs}), or Charlotta (debuffer-defender with more damage potential).
  • Doesn't bring any debuffs, unlike her aforementioned competitors.
  • 25% DMG CutTaking 25% less DMG

Because of her C.A.'s buffs, Katalina prefers being second or third ally position so that party members after her will immediately benefit from them.

Synergy

  • Katalina will greatly appreciate any characters who can bring debuffs.

Weapons

  • Katalina's ability to mitigate and heal damage is invaluable for water's stamina-based gameplay enabled by Fimbul.
  • Murgleis is her character obtain weapon and, fully uncapped, it is an extraordinary addition in Varuna based grids. It has a high Normal ATK multiplier and patches up water's lack of multiattack buffers. Katalina's Sabre proficiency means that she gets increased benefits from it as well. When used as a Sword Master mainhand, it provides a DMG cut on charge attack that stacks with Kat's own, and has a poweful Overdrive Assassin as a resonance skill.

Priorities

DA and Crit are a staple of most EMP builds and Katalina has them. After that, invest in her support skill to increase her own healing numbers as well as any other healers in the party. After that, Def nodes are the next best choice, investing in at least 1 of each. After that, is up to preference. She can double down on defense with one more star to each node, draw more attacks to herself with hostility buffs, or a mix of the two.

up most of the time anyway. ATK, HP, and Fire DMG down nodes scale poorly and should not be considered.

The best Over Mastery bonuses for a 3rd bonus is of course Stamina due to water's playstyle. Getting this bonus is the highest priority for Katalina. The bonuses for Crit and CA specs are also decent until you can get it. Enmity and Debuff Success should absolutely be avoided

The 4th bonus is mainly extra for her as she benefits from most of the options available. Debuff Resistance is arguably the weakest bonus available though, but it can be kept if it is attached with a high Stamina bonus.

Resources
