Your main weapon dictates what Sword Master's various abilities do. Every weapon has four effects:
- Awaken: Activates upon casting
Awakening your blade also grants 15 Energy at base, which can be boosted by Extended Mastery Perks and its Class Champion Weapon Aschallon.
Energy is consumed upon attacking, taking damage, and/or using Resonating Blade.
- Resonance: Activates upon casting
Energy consumed to cast this skill varies by weapon. If you have less Energy than is needed, you will not be able to use this skill.
- Attack: Activates with every normal attack while
Costs 1 Energy per attack turn, regardless of multiattacks. With or buffs, 2 and 3 Energy will be spent total, respectively.
Charge attacks do not activate Attack effects, but 1 Energy will still be consumed that turn.
- Defend: Activates when the Main Character is hit while
Energy consumed to activate this effect varies by weapon. Defend effects may activate multiple times per turn and consume Energy per activation. .
You can recast or use while under to recover energy before it runs out.

- While not equipped with a mainhand weapon in battle, Sword Master defaults to 's assets, including Sword Release skills.
