Hostility
Hostility is a game mechanic which determines the probability that a character is targeted by one-ally attacks in battle. All characters have the same base hostility, but this can be modified by status effects such as Hostility UpMore likely to be attacked
or Hostility DownLess likely to be attacked
. It can also be modified by support skills, EMPs, and weapon skills.
Hostility is ignored when an ally has SubstituteReceives foe attack in place of an ally
(Excludes all-foe all-ally attacks)
or a similar effect.
Hostility Formula
All characters have a base hostility value of 10. The formula to be targeted is the character's hostility value divided by the sum of all allies' hostility. Therefore, the chance that a character will be targeted with default hostility is:[1]
10/(10 + 10 + 10 + 10) * 100% = 25%
A character's hostility value can't be reduced to 0.[2] There is still a chance to be targeted even if hostility is reduced to the minimum.
Consider the scenario where one character has their hostility value boosted by 10. The chance that this character will be targeted is:
(10+10)/(10 + 10 + 10 + (10 + 10)) * 100% = 40%
Pseudo-hostility
Pseudo-hostility refers to an effect that takes priority over normal hostility mechanics. Although these effects can have the same status icons as normal hostility effects, they do not modify base hostility values. Thus, these do not affect skills that are based on hostility values (e.g. Nene's Nerves of SteelBoost to ATK based on how high hostility is.).
Full Hostility100% chance to be targeted by one-ally attacks
Full hostility has the same properties as Substitute, but has lower targeting priority than Substitute is mechanically identical toSubstituteReceives foe attack in place of an ally
(Excludes all-foe all-ally attacks)
, but with lower priority than an actual Substitute effect. The affected ally receives one-ally attacks and special attacks which conditionally targets specific allies (e.g. IblisTargets the ally with the highest HP. in Lucilius (Raid)).- If there are multiple allies with this buff, the ally in the lowest position will have priority, similar to how multiple allies with
