Bonus Damage refers to an additional instances of damage that is dealt on top of another instance of damage, usually a Normal Attack. It inflicts a fixed percentage of the damage dealt by the original instance and will visibly be shown as an additional damage number. The most common sources of bonus damage are various skills that grant Bonus DMGDeals bonus DMG for one-foe one-ally attacks
buffs, but bonus damage effects can also be passively granted by character Support Skills and weapon skills.
Most instances of Bonus damage are the same element as the base attack, but when they vary, they are subject to elemental strength/weakness modifiers on top of the base percentage. In some cases, this may allow them to deal critical damage even if the original attack wasn't able to.
Although useful at all levels, bonus damage effects are particularly sought after when operating at, or close to, the Damage cap. Not only do they directly increase damage by a certain percentage, but because they are a separate damage instance from the base attack, they can allow attacks to significantly exceed the damage cap.
While Bonus DMGDeals bonus DMG for one-foe one-ally attacks
generally only applies to normal attacks, certain effects such as Zeta's Arvess InvolAgainst BurnedHP is lowered on every turn
foes: 20% Bonus Dark DMG effect.
Charge attack deals 25% bonus Dark damage. or Silva's Bonus C.A. DMGDeals bonus DMG on charge attack
also grant bonus damage to Charge Attacks as a fixed percentage of the Charge Attack damage. Although they have similar wording, these are distinct from other effects that deal an additional instance of skill damage when using a Charge Attack such as Juliet's Luce della Salvezza450%Massive Light damage to a foe.

Bonus damage effects may be colloquially referred to by the community using the unofficial terms "Echo" or "Chaser". These terms are used in some other game communities to refer to similar mechanics, and ChaserAll allies gain 20% Bonus DMGDeals bonus DMG for one-foe one-ally attacks

Effect Stacking
Bonus damage sources are separated into several categories that will generally stack with each other. How different sources from the same category interact with each other depends on the category:[1]
- Skills are the most common source and have the greatest variety of bonus damage buffs. They are divided into 3 types with multiple sub-categories each, and will not stack with other buffs of the same status name and letter:
- Fixed element bonus damage is the most common type of bonus damage. The bonus damage will always be of the stated element and will overwrite other existing buffs of the same element and side, regardless of strength.
- Self element bonus damage gives bonus damage of the character's own element, rather than a fixed one. It will also overwrite other existing buffs of the same side, regardless of strength.
- Superior element bonus damage changes element to whatever the target is weak to, or the same element as the base attack if the target has no weakness. This bonus damage only overwrites weaker ones of the same side.
- These 3 types are further divided into several sub-categories:
- A side buffs are the most common. They generally affect multiple allies.
- B side buffs usually target one ally.
- C side buffs end upon taking damage.
- D side buffs are consumed after one normal attack.
- E side buffs are currently used for Eternals.
- Unique side bonus damage comes from buffs with unique icons such as Robomi's Maximum OutputTriple attack rate is boosted (1 time) / Deals bonus light DMG for one-foe one-ally attacks (1 time)
, and stacks with all sources of bonus damage.
- Charge Attacks can grant fixed element bonus damage. There is only one charge attack side, but some charge attacks are part of the Skill category. However, they are not the same category. Because of that, a side A buff obtained from a charge attack will stack with a side A buff from other categories.
- Summon calls can provide two different types of bonus damage.
- Fixed element bonus damage will always be of the stated element.
- Self element bonus damage gives bonus damage of the character's own element. Currently, Belial (Summer) is the only source of this.
- Passive bonus damage effects can be granted by character support skills or weapon skills.
- A side. Only the strongest effect is applied, regardless of element.
- B side. Only the strongest effect is applied, regardless of element.
- Unique side. Passives which are currently known to stack with everything else.
Which side (A/B) a buff belongs to can only be verified by testing, as there is otherwise no way of distinguishing them.
